You get 1/3 of your KPB ranking, and since you competed in the most recent World Cup, you have some KPB points.

With regards to the rank system, I understand that Ome had previously managed the ranks all the way up to IAC16, with the previous ranks located here. I have been trying to reach Ome to see if she can update the ranks; otherwise, I may consider taking over the rank keeping role for the IAC using the current system.

For the record: I didn't get any answer from the original rankkeeper, Omerica, so I went on to update the ranks by my own. For IAC16, I assumed, by past precedence (you can check out this thread for the precedence), that all teams that did not play in the Round-of-20 were given a free win to add to their tally of points. The total number of games is therefore tabulated as 9, comprising the 4 group stage games, and the 5 knockout rounds.

If there are any errors, please let me know so that the group draw would not be affected by it. Teams that are participating in this competition for the first time in IAC17, and hold an existing KPB rank, should find themselves ranked too.

The rank sheet can be found here

The (temporary) rank calculation sheet has been updated.

Nations which have participated in the last 3 WCC cycles, and/or the last 3 IAC cycles should be given a rank accordingly. The group draw will be held at midnight Eastern Daylight Time on 6th May, which will be noon Singapore Standard Time (SST) on 7th May. Any rank clarifications should be made here.

For the record:
  • In IAC17, nations who received a bye in the Round of 24 will be given 3 points for that particular round. The number of games was calculated to be 9 (4 GS matches, Ro24, Ro16, QF, SF and Finals/3PPO)
  • For IAC18, the intention on my end would be the following:
    1. To tabulate all matches in the Lower Bracket of the Playoffs with 50% points (ie. 1.5 rank points for a win, 0.5 rank points for a penalty game.)
    2. To award teams who won the Winners Round of the Dual Group Stage with a free win in the Decider Round.
    3. To set the number of games to 10 (4 GS matches, 3 Dual Group Stage matches, 2 Upper Bracket matches/4 Lower Bracket matches at half weightage, and 1 Grand Final.
    4. If the Grand Final ends in a draw, both teams will earn 1 rank point (but the Upper Bracket winner wins the title.)
If there are any points of concerns, please raise them on the DT so that we can all arrive at a decision as a community. Thank you!

Sorry for the short notice, but the GS MD5 Cutoff will be held 2 hours earlier than the original given deadline, ie. At 8pm SST (2pm CEST, 8am EDT), 17th May, instead of 10pm SST. If my dinner appointment overruns such that it clashes with my night zoom call at 9pm, then expect the cutoff to be late in my night, so hopefully that doesn't happen.

 Well that is an awkward moment - I intended to cutoff and score on the go, but I forgot to take the RP grading spreadsheet or the tournament xkor file with me so I don't know what the base grades are. Consider this another 24 hour extension.

Seriously considering possibility of putting bid to host tournament, one with traditional format of groups plus playoffs and very generous RP bonus. Seek a co-host with similar posture. If someone interested, let me know by TG.

I'm way late to this, and as an AO loyalist who created a puppet specifically to compete in IAC, I'm probably not exactly the target audience. But I love this format and the idea of a tournament shared between the big dogs, the weirdos, and the superweirdos (those of us treating it as a writing workshop). My scrappy little Supermassive Sea Dome Anarchists probably won't get anywhere, but they might get to host a match, and at some point they might even win one.

On that note, I must say I was always charmed by the 90s/00s US @ Jamaica dynamic where this matchup was almost only ever possible in one world-relevant competition, and qualifying matches or friendlies played in Jamaica were such a dominating environment in that specific tournament that the US struggled just to compete and couldn't win for a number of years as I recall, even with wildly different skill levels over the years for each team. It doesn't win you the world, but always being able to hold your own with the big guy in your area when you have the odd group stage match at home, there's something to that.

SSDA is not in any way based on an existing national team, but I like to think they could have their own wonky little version of that. Play the Anarchists on the Barge? Between the fans absolutely certain it will be the greatest day of their lives, and the players with nothing to lose, get ready to only win 4-0!

I for one think there's something to be said for an independent competition allowing for a few bizarre results favoring the countries in that competition, as long as it doesn't allow us to proceed farther than luck and a good old college try should take us.
Sea Dome genesis; new RP. 4 nations unified, all issues either devolved to one or legislated/enforced by Supermassive Sea Dome Anarchists pardoned for many crimes against citizens of Corporate City One, Corporate City Trade Zone, SD ComIntern, and in contempt of SPL governance.
Anarchist Elected Chief of Foreign Affairs, Robtelon, represents the interests of the entire dome. PFMSDCM can no longer influence the vote directly.

If there is no host, I can co-host to help move things, but with some requirements:
- I don't have anything prepared for such an emergency host bid, so do come with some of your ideas and plans. Else defaulting to standard stuff is very much okay.
- I still remain open to weirder bids, though my preference is for something more standard format wise this time given that IAC is more of a traditional regional. I do have some bid twists which I can share if you are agreeable.
- Would appreciate if any hosting work starts after IFCF cutoff is completed.

Note that also I will update the ranks as per the rules below once we have a host bid confirmed:

(Postscript: Also a self-reminder that I should rework the way the IAC ranking sheet should work, now that I am rank-keeper de jure with Ome not returning for their 4th consecutive IAC cycle. Makes things easier for me and for everyone to read)
