Geopolity: GP Thread

[Geopolity Customs]

Established in 2014, and still active, Geopolity is:

• An 8 year old, current era, earth based RP region
• Highly interactive fast paced RP; each day = 1 week (using real dates) perfect for realistic development and interactions
• Run by, and including, very experienced role-players
• Uses the RMB as 'cannon' which keeps things nice and simple
• Has a very active, but optional, Discord.

RP details:

• New nations are approximately based on real life
• European colonisation happened 'in general'
• WW2 and de-colonisation happened 'in general'
• African nations GDP's are bumped to encourage players here
• GDP and land is 'capped' to stop domination
• Expansions are limited to encourage quality over quantity.

But this does not preclude deviation through well thought through nations and history.

Yes. There are posts for Historian, Cartographer, WA delegate, and recruitment. We have been looking at creating a diplomacy post. Thankfully we have a reliable Founder who is great at talking to other regions and does a lot of the unglamorous behind the scenes stuff that keeps everything ticking over!

Yes! But... to stop multi-playing and to keep the region safe we insist on WA membership for RP'ers. I know that is a pain, but it is a policy that has served us well for many years.

Thanks! I think we're cautious about too much attention as land is limited, but many of the 'best' RP'ers seem to be on the forums, so it felt like it was time to make ourselves a bit more known here.

This week in Geopolity

• A multi-nation war began as the Soviet Raj attacked British Hanathawaddy and Islamican. This caused the Imperial Eagle and the British Crown Commonwealth and her allies to declare war.
• We welcomed the Kalmar Union, Republic of Anglia and Croatia to the region.

Wars in Geopolity are carefully planned and moderated, and so far this one is without OOC incident.

This week in Geopolity

• The region is voting in our own IC version of the UN on how the USSR should interact with the disputed territory of Eurasia
• We welcomed Muazana to region.
• Chile, Bolivia, Germany, Iran and Iraq are now available to new players.

• The regional elections are ramping up with nominations for Role Play Council / Cartographer and so forth open
• We welcomed a new China and an interesting Coptic Egypt / Levant into region.

Elections are underway in Geopolity! Voting results will be announced once the polling concludes in three days, but the positions of Roleplay Coordinator (4 openings), Minister of Assembly Affairs, Cartographer, Historian, and Events Secretary are all up for grab.

The elected Regional Administration (RA) will then appoint a fifth RPC-like member to the position of Economics Coordinator to help in matters of economics related to RP. A Minister of Diplomacy will also be officially appointed once the election concludes as well.

Elections have concluded....kinda!

For the position of Minister of Assembly Affairs, Imperial Eagle has been elected, and will be endorsed as Delegate in the near future.

For the position of Roleplay Coordinators, British Crown Commonwealth was re-elected with 20 out of 25 votes. Far Eastern Union of Soviet Republics was re-elected with 18 out of 25 votes, and Union Centrafricaine was re-elected with 14 out of 25 votes as well. However, for the fourth position, there was a tie of 13 votes each for both Turkiye- and People United Federation of Japan.

For the position of Cartographer, Turco-Bulgaria was elected with 15 out of 25 votes.

For the position of Historians, the joint ticket of The-Kalmar-Union, Roma Secundum and Turco-Bulgaria was approved with 20 out of 25 votes.

And for the position of Events Secretary, Infiny was re-elected with 19 out of 25 votes.

However, due to the tie, there will be a run-off election for the fourth RP Coordinator position, as well as an election for a second Events Secretary. The results of that will be posted here as well once that has concluded. And finally, a Minister of Diplomacy has been appointed for the first time for Geopolity, and that is now Eulumia.

We are very happy to have our new RA members, and we will have our next election in November of this year!

And our second and final round of elections, with 21 votes in total, for this quarter has concluded!

For the runoff for the fourth RP Coordinator position, People United Federation of Japan was elected with 12 out of 21 votes!

And for the second Events Secretary position, The Turanist Peoples of Hungary was elected with 14 out of 21 votes!

And with that, we have our largest RA ever! We are super excited to see everyone here, and we look forward to see what they do for this term. If you are needing a full list of the current RA, you can find it here!

Well, it's been a while since we've posted in here, so we figured that it might be time that we talked about what's been going on in Geopolity lately.

Essentially, we have done away from democracy entirely, at least for the time being. Instead, the Regional Administration (RA) is composed entirely of appointed officials.

In this case, the Regional Administration consists of:

Romanovskaya
Eulumia
British Crown Commonwealth
Infiny
Republica-Argentina
Far Eastern Union of Soviet Republics

This has been in place since mid-March, and we believe that this system has been really working out well for us. I can also say that the efforts of each and every RA member has been incredibly helpful to us, and we all look forward to even more years with Geopolity.

Oh yeah, and we just turned 9 too. Funny how the time goes by.
