Started watching Bad Boys For Life but gave up after about 20 minutes. Seemed so dated like it should have come out 20 years ago. That shit doesn't fly anymore and Will Smith has lost his charm.

2001: A Space Odyssey

Haven't seen it for nearly 20 years and forgot how good it was. It's actually amazing that a movie from 1968 holds up so well today in terms of visual effects.

And thanks to all the trauma I've experienced in the last two decades probably damaging my brain, the ending somehow made perfect sense to me this time!

I agree, it was a blast. I watched it in the theatre somewhere in the US, and the audience even clapped at the end! Americans are funny.

Top Gun: Maverick (2022)

15/10 Absolutely Stellar. Not a single scene with a flaw. Maverick at his best with a cast of awesome new characters. Just the right amount of nostalgia/callbacks. No disappointments at all.

Jungle Cruise (2021 I think). For a modern Disney movie, it was better than I expected. It seemed to draw a lot of aspects from an old 1950s favorite of mine, African Queen, crossed with Indiana Jones, even if it was still unmistakably modern Disney/modern Hollywood in other ways.

"No Time to Die." Surely the most beautifully filmed Bond film. The other ones had all those location shots -- the arial view of Miami in "Goldfinger," the shots of London and Istanbul in "The World is Not Enough" -- but no late afternoon sun through a window, overhead shots of frozen lakes, cruise line brochure-like frames with car chases going through them and the rest of it. All in service of one of the sketchiest, most disjointed, most contrived plots in all of Bondage, with the possible exception of "License to Kill." Also -- and this is a complement -- no real "Bond girls," all strong female characters including the "new" 007. Hard to know where this goes if it's not for a third "reset." But if they can actually pull off a continuing Black female Bond successor, well, good on 'em.
