VILLAGES IN MATANGWENE BURNED, POLICE IN SEARCH OF PERPETRATORS

Image

Matangwene Police Commander Charlie Omaro

By James Nnenji | 22 June 2022

Ngadibe, Matangwene: Several villages in the Matangwene Province were reportedly burned early this morning. The death toll is unknown, and many locals fled the area. These villages include Sagambe, Osaala, Nkurubini, and Wesedo. The Matangwene Provincial government has declared that two fire-fighter teams were dispatched from the capital in Ngadibe at around 9:00 this morning, but the damage was already done. Around 100 homes were burned in their report, and several dozen killed, with hundreds suffering from severe burns in these night attacks. Few reports form locals have been given out, but one local told newspapers that "the attackers came and went, they did not take anything, only burned our homes and ran".

At around 12:00PM the Matangwene Police held a press conference along with local military commanders in the province. The Provincial Police Commander, Charlie Omaro, gave his update on situation. He stated that police investigators spoke with locals and ruled out the possibility of a natural fire, and the investigation led to the conclusion that it was a deliberate attack. Omaro and the military officials also agreed that the attack was likely committed by MIRIF or MIRIF sympathizers, due to the proximity between the villages burned and the Matangwene-Magadi border. Omaro would declare that "these perpetrators will be found and justice will be brought to the villagers of Matangwene Province".

This attack also drew attention from Matangwene Senators Martin Idris and Manuel Esato. Idris spoke out saying "this was a clear increase in aggression from MIRIF, and that their wrath now targets Sotirians both inside and outside of the Magadi Region". Esato stated in an online post "these attacks are more reason for action in the Magadi, and that their boldness has grown". Other leaders in the Republic Assembly also called for increased military presence in the west and tougher crackdowns on the crossing of the Magadi border. TDP Congressman Emeka Chizoba called the government action on the MIRIF threat "lackluster" and stated that change had to come soon if peace in Tiwura is to be maintained.

Military spokesperson Amy Taiwo-Giles would hold release a separate report on the escalation by MIRIF forces. The report claims that MIRIF has mostly operated in the manner of a military force, rarely targeting civilians as far away as Matangwene. The report also stated that the government is considering looking into increased military deployment in the region. They also now are planning on forming some solution to MIRIF insurgents sneaking through the military checkpoints in the Magadi region into the other parts of Tiwura, but no answer has been given on to what exactly this means.

The post will keep updates on the situation and the future of what the response by the military will be against the insurgent crisis.

Several Key Military Officers Arrested
Arrests comes following a 7-week long investigation into the activities of the National People’s Army
Benoît Mercadier
22 June, 2022

Image
Defence Secretary Pierrounet Fauch speaking with reporters

Following a seven-week-long investigation, the Office of Defence and Civil Protection, alongside the State Protection Authority, has announced the identification and arrest of actors and groups “who sought to subvert and undermine the authority of the state” and “commit conspiracy against the government.” Amongst those arrested include Army Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Pèire Pèrûsot and several divisional commanders.

In early May, an anonymous source within the National People’s Army Main Staff leaked internal communications indicating a planned “military action” against the current government initiated, and led by formerChief of the Main Staff Gen. Abriel Romieu. Romieu subsequently denied the plan, and brought the legitimacy of the faked documents in question. A preliminary investigation was launched at the behest of Comrade Cruèselles, which confirmed the legitimacy of the documents, and resulted in the expulsion and arrest of Romieu. Following his confession to planning a military coup, a larger, broader investigation was launched into the activities of the National People’s Army.

“When we first initiated this investigation, we had no idea of the scope and magnitude of what we’d uncover,” Defence Secretary Pierrounet Fauch said to reporters. “We can only thank the brave patriot who risked their livelihood by making it known what the traitors arrested today were planning, and just how far they were willing to go.”

Amongst those arrested include roughly 75% of the current divisional and military district commanders in the Land Forces, four officers of the Land Forces General Staff, and five officers in the Air Force General Staff. This currently sits at approximately one-third of the National People’s Army commanding officers, but it is expected to increase as more of the arrested confess and give up their conspirators.

Both the Kirenian and Gaullican governments have summoned the Champanois ambassadors in Harimisaareke and Verlois, and members of the Kirenian Assembly and Gaullican Senate have criticised the arrests. Their criticism comes from the majority of those arrested had ties to the Senèstràs. No official response has been given so far, with the government only saying that the arrests are an internal matter.

Speaking in a televised hearing, Iorda Câpllonç, the Chairman of the Politburo Investigatory Committee, stated, “it is the recommendation of this committee to continue investigating not just the military, but the Party as a whole. These officers did not act alone, they had help from within the Party. These seditious elements will not rest until their will is the Party’s will.”

An extraordinary session of the Socialist Workers' Party Central Committee is expected to be held sometime within the next week. While the exact nature of the session is unknown, it is expected that the delegates will further review the reports of the investigation, and decide what further action, if any, the Socialist Workers' Party will take.

Kabus to field a historic united Invictus team
North and South Kabu have confirmed they will field a united Kabuese Invictus team ahead of the competition in Gaullica
2022-06-23T 12:02:00
By: Eka Susanto

The team is set to use the politically neutral '10 Stars flag'
Talks between Northern and Southern officials have reached the symbolic agreement to field a united team which will compete in several sports. The team will feature athletes from North and South and will march under the pan-Kabuese '10 Stars flag' which has been used historically to represent a unified Kabuese identity and is used frequently by Kabuese expats in Estmere where it was designed over the two politically charged flags. The flag will also be carried in by Northern and Southern athletes as part of a rare demonstration of unity on the divided archipelago.

The fielding of a joint Kabuese team is seen as part of a wider thaw between the opposing governments which includes recent agreements on families separated by the conflict, promoting a Kabuese culture and identity and drug smuggling in the area. The plans - announced today at a press conference - include the Kabuese team will be controversially split 50-50 between Southern and Northern athletes who will compete in 12 events including Martial Arts, Tennis, Football, Swimming and Sailing among others. Both teams will also share accommodation in the Invictus and have shared coaches.

The decision to have an equal team comprising of Northerners and Southerners has been met with degrees of suspicion from hardliners in both governments. In South Kabu, popular internet personality Surya Tahyadi said that the agreement means: "[South] Kabuese athletes who qualified will now be forced to sit the games out and this will cost our team medals." He said on his popular social media page amongst hardline South Kabuese internet users. In North Kabu the reaction from the right-wing Republican People's Party and National Front has been negative, some members of the latter party are livid with the agreement according to press in North Kabu. However both the governing PRD in North Kabu and South Kabuese President Tirto Sutikno are united in wishing to "celebrate the unique athletic abilities of the Kabuese nation" and "attempt to try and form a framework for collaboration between the two governments of the archipelago", a rare acknowledgement on behalf of both Kabus of the divided archipelago despite both officially refuse to recognise the other despite the Kabu civil war ending over 70 years ago. Both Kabus also continue to claim the other country as their own territory.

Rumours about a united team have been circulating for months as both governments in Kabu have made reconciliation and restoring some ties a priority. The idea was first proposed publicly by South Kabu's chief sailing coach Sukarno Tanuwidjaja in December although it is believed secret negotiations had been in the works before this statement. Officials between the Northern and Southern sporting federations reportedly met in January for talks and again in February and April. The Invictus' governing body also reportedly had prior knowledge of the decision to field a joint team as well as athletes selected to be in the team with the reaction from the body being largely positive over the developments in Kabu.

Alternative Party to split into two new parties, Independence Movement, and National Reform Party
The recent push by the Patron League and resignations of members of the High Courts have lead to numerous meetings between the Alt Party's leaders, the big tent party had begun to split apart over support for Cerqueira. Today it announced plans to do so.

Emilia Villacís, leader of the National Reform Party, the section leaving O Povo

Precea, Luzela: Today the Alternative Party's leader, Horácio Pacau, announced plans to split apart the party into two new parties, one being a member of the right-wing O Povo government, and the other will be leaving and joining the opposition. The party will split into the right-leaning Independence Movement lead by Horácio Pacau himself, it will remain part of O Povo and continue to support Cerqueira's government. The other section, with 5 members of the Congress House, and 2 members of the Assembly House joining it, is the National Reform Party, an euclosceptic party that refuses to support the right-wing policies of Cerqueira and O Povo, lead by Emilia Villacís.

The Independence Movement of course is still much larger than the National Reform Party, but the margin in which O Povo can govern has dropped in both houses, as well as in regional Legislatures. One notable example being Luzela, where the government is now a minority government.

Premier Cerqueira reacted to the news stating "We see that there are some so-called populists who wish to abandon our movement, we will continue to govern with our agenda, this new opposition party will become insignificant in the coming years, and it changes nothing for our plans."

Leader of the Democratic Voters Movement Nicole Barboza praised Emilia Villacís and others, including former Science and Research Minister Cristòfor Tarrés, who resigned after the Women's Cultural Reform Law passed last year. Stating "These members of the new party will become a true Alternative for voters who see the far-right extremist government's actions for what they are."

Horácio Pacau stated today with supporters of the new Independence Movement, "I will continue to support this government alongside my party allies, we must take a stand against the EC and Cerqueira and out alliance with her have given a massive chance to do so. We will see tough times now as a party but we believe we will succeed in the future."

Emilia Villacís, who was one of Pacau's biggest critics made a chirp today "Our new party will become the future for those who wish to gain independence for Paretia but also reject the far-right hijack of this movement."

The two parties will take part in the next elections and Independence Movement has already announced it will stay apart of O Povo, keeping the majority, although under a slimmer margin than before.

State Religion bill passes with Social Party amendment
Image
PSTO leader, Sen. Eugenio Ignazio Gardella lauded the passing of the bill as a "victory for the faithful".

The Social Party of the Third Order has passed its amendment to the State Religion Bill, which now becomes law, with the full support of the Tribune Movement, Farmers and Workers Union and 66 of the non-partisan members of the State Council. The amendment grants further rights to the Catholic Church and includes provisions in education and civil service appointments.

The Social Party’s successful amendment reopens civil service and advisory positions within the federal government to lay members of religious orders and the clergy. This will allow members of the Gratiam per Servitium to return to key ministries as was common during the 3rd Republic and the Military Government. A number of Social Party senators are members of the Servitium. The amendment also reintroduces school prayers and mass services to the state education system and mandates the permanent posting of either a priest or nun to schools, to provide moral and spiritual support for pupils and staff. The services and postings will be protected under the constitution due to the state religion status afforded to Solarian Catholicism.

The State Religion Constitutional Amendment Bill, presented over a week ago sought originally to declare Solarian Catholicism as Etruria’s state religion, while affording the status of “National Religion” to Episemalism and Atudism and was set for a rapid vote in the State Council. However, members of the Social Party of the Third Order, a sister-party of the Tribune Movement and member of the Patria alliance objected, claiming the bill did not go far enough. The SPTO’s leader, Eugenio Ignazio Gardella spoke to President Francesco Carcaterra personally last Friday, urging him to open the bill to amendment.

In a press conference at the Palazzo Orsini in Povelia, Gardella said, “the amendment as it stands is welcome and a necessary step toward to course correcting Etruria’s evolution. But as far as the Social Party is concerned, more can be done, more can be added. If we wish to restore in our country, God’s grace and through it, virtue and morality that constitutes the cornerstone of Sotirian civilisation, then we should do more.”

The Social Party was keen to open civil service appointments and advisory positions within certain federal ministries to lay people who are members of religious orders and the clergy. This was provision was abolished in 1986 under the Milos Vidovic government. They also wanted to return Church influence into Etruria’s state schools, primarily through the restoration of prayer and mass services, and the permanent posting of priests or nuns at schools.

The Tribunes for their part only sought the original bill to avoid “the inevitable vitriol from the Euclo-left, the Etrurian people tire of it and so too do we. Really the desire was a relatively simple approach for peace’s sake. But once the Social Party explained their position, they received pretty strong support” one government source said.

Ultimately, this morning, the amendment was passed in the State Council of the Federation 142-68. The passing officially declares Solarian Catholicism the state religion of Etruria, the first time since the First Republic.
The provisions regarding the civil service and school religious services within the constitution were simply removed by the Social Party amendment and will likely see legislative bills next week implement the changes outright.
Social Party leader, Eugenio Ignazio Gardella who serves as the Chairman of the National Ecumenical Integration Council chirpred, “today is a victory for the faithful, for Etrurian morality and our shared virtues – Etrurianitas. The Social Party will continue to strive alongside the Tribune Movement to reawaken our great nation.”

President Carcaterra is expected to celebrate the passing of the State Religion Law at a special religious service in Povelia later today.

A PAINFUL LOVE STORY
As the Invictus Games come closer, we look at what made us fall in love with boxing

"Are you with us?" - a promotional poster for the upcoming Invictus Games featuring Raye Muglia

"I was born and raised in the Interior", speaks Raye Muglia before taking a pause to look me in the eyes and make sure I understand. He is a boxer and a nephew of Ilario Muglia, who won a gold medal in boxing at the 2006 Invictus Games in Crescent Island City. "There, there are two ways of improving your life - working hard or cheating. My brother chose the latter one - haven't heard from him for almost 2 years. I was left alone with my ma' and I had to learn how to stand up for myself and for her. I remember watching my uncle on the TV and thinking - yes, I want to be like that. Strong and confident. For some time, I was play-training boxing with trees outside my house. There was nowhere to learn proper techniques in our village. When uncle returned to Gapolania, I caught up with him and eventually started going to Duclea, riding on my motorbike 25 kilometers every day forth and back. School grades got real bad so I was given an ultimatum - reach a good GPA and you can train further or no boxing for a whole year. My childhood passed by very quickly - school, homework, training, sometimes 5 days a week. But in the end it paid off, didn't it? I'm flying to Gaullica!"

Muglia is one of the seven boxers honoured to take part in the upcoming Invictus Games. It has always been a trademark sport for the citizens of Gapolania - evolving from fist brawls in the narrow alleys of the coastal towns to a part of the national culture, with clubs in every city, dozens of tournaments held throughout the years and, most importantly, a something that united and connected people with so many different origins. "You just need two hands. Sometimes even one is enough", used to say Dario Flanta, one of the most important figure in the history of the Gapolanese boxing. Born during the Great War, Flanta lived through "the Reds", "the Blues", "the Vipers" and finally the Hibiscus Revolution, always prepared to fight for himself and others. When the central government arrested him and his friends in 1962 for an alleged membership in prohibited paramilitary organizations, he took it on himself to teach others how to use their fists properly. He spent nearly 8 months in a jail, where the only tool he could use was his own body.

Boxing (as well as wrestling and other martial arts) was a form of identity. Of expression. To be able, to be free, to stand against something. Something that helped make new friends or strengthen existing bonds. People didn't need a freshly-graveled running track or a perfectly rectangular football stadium - just a worthy opponent and a piece of room to train. Maybe that's why it spread so fast and so well. It often was also a family business. Muglia isn't the first one to follow the footsteps of his kin at the Invictus Games. On 1994, Antü Huirilef won a bronze medal in Harimisaareke, 8 years after his older brother, Bàrtolo Senqa got silver in Saint-Marie. That day, the brothers were together, as Bàrtolo was Antü's coach. In 2014, just a 19-year old Vitale De Lucia did what his father tried to do 20 years earlier - reached the welterweight final in Gaton and won a silver medal. His cousin, Barnaba Altilino, will compete in Cote-Serene in the lightweight category. With a team like this, the expectations are definitely big.

All the events will be broadcast live on RTG-1, RTG-2 and RTG-Sport. Check the detailed calendar on our site, get the know more about our participants and sign up for our game to win special prizes!

GOVERNMENT SUBMITS CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT LOWERING VOTING AGE TO 16
The amendment changes the wording of Article 81 to change the age at which the duty of voting is conferred.

Image

26 June 2022 | Aalmsted, Azmara

Image
Euclean Minister Liis Jonsdohter is the official author of the amendment.

AALMSTED, AZMARA – Earlier this morning, the Azmaran government announced its intention to submit an amendment to the Basic Law of the Commonwealth of Azmara that would amend the "duties of citizenship" clause, Article 81, to lower the age at which the "inalienable right and duty" to vote is conferred, from eighteen to sixteen years of age.

The proposal, introduced by Euclean Minister and Green Party leader Liis Jonsdohter and sponsored by the members of the Government a a whole, became available on the Althing's website's queue of bills at approximately 9:00 EST. A justification for the amendment was provided, stating that "it is only rational that, given the significant civics education provided to students within Azmara and the standard of knowledge on the inner workings of the government that is therefore conferred on residents of this nation before their sixteenth birthdays, and the taxes on the fruits of their labour many in this group are mandated to pay yet do not get a say over the spending of, they be bestowed on their sixteenth birthday the right and duty to vote in national elections".

As with all constitutional amendments, a joint sitting of the Althing will be needed to approve the proposed changes and a three-fifths absolute majority of such a sitting will be needed to do so. However, as the National Principles, Civil Rights and Citizenship sections of the Basic Law are "protected" sections of the Basic Law, Article 41 specifies that their amending requires the approval of the voting public in a simple majority vote in favour in a referendum.

The three-fifths majority clause will require support across the aisle to pass to the referendum stage. It is safe to assume that all Green and Radical representatives will vote in favour of the amendment as the parties both campaigned on reducing the voting age in 2020, and as the Workers' Party members of the Government have offered their support to the amendment it is likely a majority of their representatives will support the amendment, yet it is expected that some members of more socially conservative wings of the party will vote against the amendment on conscience. It is therefore up to the government to convince some members of other parties such as Gold Flame, the Sotirian Democrats, the Free Alliance and the Socialist and People's parties to vote in favour.

The joint Althing session to ratify the amendment is thought to be scheduled for Monday, July 4th and if it is ratified the referendum is expected for October.

State President hosts Yemeti counterpart as Girota revokes recognition of Adunis regime
Ministerial meetings conclude with major aid package for Yemet and further deployment of 3,000 combat troops
POLITICS by Abdullah al-Mosawi

State President Rahim Ali Haftar greeting President Uxbale Asad.

In his first overseas visit, Yemet’s President Gen. Ubxale Asad alongside several key government figures met with their counterparts in Zahedan. Several issues were discussed, while the visit saw confirmation of further support from the Union to Yemet.

Having secured his position at home, following the untimely death of Retta Iskinder, Ubxale Asad travelled to Zahedan with several key officials from his government of national unity to discuss the situation in Yemet, the next phase of the civil war and detailed requirements on reconstruction and reconciliation. The President met with and held in depth talks with State President Rahim Ali Haftar. The two reportedly discussed closer political and economic cooperation and the State President use the talks to reaffirm the “Union’s lasting commitment to the people of Yemet and the restoration of its rights to peace and stability” according to the Foreign Ministry.

Other bilateral talks included discussions between the respective finance ministers, foreign ministers and defence ministers. During these bilateral talks, it was confirmed to the Yemeti said that the Union would “dramatically increase its support for Yemet and its people outside of the military realm.” This includes a €3.5 billion financial package to assist the Yemeti government in funding its functions and personnel, €2.5 billion in humanitarian aid including food, shelters and materials for physical reconstruction of roads, bridges and energy networks.

Approximately 150 engineers have been dispatched under government contract to the port city of Lehir, to assist in its reconstruction and reopening. The success of this would dramatically improve Yemet’s economic situation and provide a much-needed alternative route for supplies and imports.

On the military front, the talks saw the confirmation by Zorasani officials that a further 3,200 combat troops will be dispatched to the country. At least two drone units will also be deployed to significantly bolster the coordinated effort in reconnaissance, intelligence gathering and surgical strikes against terrorist targets. The deployment will raise the total number of Union troops in Yemet to 18,500, though the number of combat troops will rise only to 5,000.

In a joint statement released after the talks, State President Rahim Ali Haftar said, “the struggle Yemet engages in is done not alone, for the Union stands by Yemet, its people and its government, firmly and proudly. But the struggle takes many forms, not just the one of war against terrorism and separatism, but economic, social and cultural. In that view, the Union has committed today, billions of Euclos worth of support. These packages will go some way in repairing the damage inflicted by war, but also directly to the Yemeti people to ensure that they are fed, housed and can once again find work.”

“The Union will work closely with the national unity government to step up reconstruction in areas liberated from terrorist groups, including infrastructure, to guarantee the movement of goods and people. It is important that the Yemeti people know that they need not endure these trials alone, but it is equally important that those of who have been freed from the grip of terrorist groups find peace and prosperity as soon as possible” he said further.
In a surprise move no one beyond the ministers and heads of state saw coming, President Asad used his moment to speak to announce that the Yemeti government would revoking its recognition of the Adunis regime as the legitimate government of Tsabara.

“Having discussed in depth matters and issues beyond Yemet, especially within the Irfanic World before this meeting, it is our shared view that it does face a time of great crisis. In Tsabara, millions, like Yemet suffer at the hands of a terrorist movement, unfortunately, this movement, this terrorist organisation is the government itself. It is the people in power who wage a terroristic campaign against Tsabarans.

“That is why, I am officially announcing today in Zahedan, that the government of Yemet is severing all diplomatic relations with the Adunis regime and ceasing to recognise it as the legitimate representative of the Tsabaran people” he said. The move by Yemet's government sees the country follow Zorasan in ending recognition of the Adunis Regime.

State President Rahim Ali Haftar praised the decision saying, “the boldness of your actions and the solidarity you and your people show, I am sure will go some way in emboldening the hearts of Tsabarans who suffer under the Adunis regime. It is boldness, not trepidation that will see the catastrophe in Tsabara come to an end God willing.”

President Asad thanked the Union for its support saying, “our national flag flies over Lehir once more because of the integral role and support your country has played. We are inching closer to national unity and victory with your support, without which Yemet would likely be witnessing darker times. The relationship between our two countries shall forever be forged out of Yemet’s victory over terrorism.”

The Joint Forces Command Centre in Girota has confirmed that a coordinated offensive toward the second port city of Musaza will likely commence in a matter of days. This follows a number of drone and airstrikes conducted by Union Forces against terrorist infrastructure and leaders in and around the city. The recapture of Musaza would restore government control over Yemet’s coastline and its two principal harbours.

Aeolia seeks pride injunction in troubling move
Injunction requests mobilises civil rights groups and widespread fear alike.
NOTIZIE by Aurelia Bossi
29 June, 2022

Image
Aeolia's Prefect Luciano Giustiniani reportedly ordered the injunction request personally.

The Tribune state government in Aeolia has officially requested an injunction against all “pride and pride related events across the entirety of the State of Aeolia and Insular Aeolia.” State lawyers are basing their injunction on the Religious Liberty Law, claiming ‘pride’ would constitute a “serious breach of the rights of the religious majority.” The injunction is being heard by Judge Gianluca Capra.

The injunction was requested this afternoon and reportedly at the personal behest of Prefect Luciano Giustiniani, considered by many to be the most hardline and far-right of the Tribune Prefects. Only three weeks ago Giustiniani was quoted as saying, “Aeolia will become an island of true morality and virtue, an island of Euclean civilisation in a sea of whirling nihilism and socialism.” Aeolia was also the first state in Etruria to introduce a state-wide “LGBT Free Zone.”

In a statement released online, the Aeolian administration said, “today, legal representatives of the administration officially lodged a request for a court injunction against pride and pride-related events across Aeolia and its islands. These events violate the fundamental tenets of the federal Religious Liberty Law. They breach the peace and undermine the integral and foundational principles of Etrurian social life.”

The injunction reportedly carries a time period of three years, meaning pride events will not be able to take place until 2025 if the injunction is granted. However, fears among civil rights groups is that a successful injunction may be followed by further legal reviews, ultimately leading to a permanent ban on events.

The legal representatives were met by Judge Gianluca Capra, a renowned right-wing judge, who three years ago, ruled in favour of a tailors who refused to serve a same-sex couple who wished to purchase a baptismal gown for their adopted daughter. Capra also wrote an article in support of the Religious Liberty Law in the Aeolian Judicial Review magazine.

Already LGBT+ groups have vowed to take a supporting position to the Federal District court for appeal. Dignitas, Etruria’s largest civil rights organisation has promised to fund any legal appeal all the way to the Constitutional Court in Povelia.

In a statement read out by a spokesman from the group’s new headquarters in Morwall, Estmere, the group said, “the legal move by the Aeolian state administration is truly saddening as it is egregious. Dignitas, is dedicated to the protection of minority rights, including the LGBT+ community and is prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure that Aeolia’s LGBT community is not further abused and repressed than it already is.”

The SD for its part chirpred, “Aeolia remains the testbed for Tribune bigotry and hatred. The latest assault upon an already beleaguered minority is unkind, disrespectful and un-Etrurian.”

Gennaro Bellocchio, Etruria’s most famous gay rights activist posted on social media, “this is it. This is the beginning of the end for all Etrurians of the LGBT+ Community.”

Fears are permeating throughout the LGBT+ community that a successful injunction in Aeolia may well inspire other Tribune led states to follow suit. The most likely state to follow within days is Carinthia, where Prefect Janez Hribar was allegedly locked in a lengthy meeting with legal experts and government lawyers, that in turn followed days of rumours that Carinthia would seek to use the RLL to limit pride events.

A growing number of Tribune federal lawmakers have issued calls for a “moralistic offensive” following the passing of the State Religion constitutional amendment.

Pietro Pontecorvo, a prominent far-right Tribune State Councillor, speaking at a veteran’s event in Schiuntrave said, “we have risen the Cross draped in the Tricolore upon a shining hill. Now is the moment for us to rally and march from that hill and truly build the Republic our people deserve. A strong government, patriotism throughout and zero tolerance for those who would tear down all that we are and deny what we can be.”

The Tribune federal government has failed to issue any statement on the Aeolian injunction effort, reflecting a long-held policy of the federal government refusing to comment on the draconian and discriminatory policies of its states.

We requested a comment from the party, the Office of the President of the Republic and the Federal Ministry for Culture and National Identity but did not receive a reply.

NKP leadership - Meet the candidates.
Anne-Marie Keyserling
26 June 2022 | Wiesstadt, Werania

WESTBRÜCKEN, WERANIA - The NKP is due to elect its leader this week, with four candidates having applied for the leadership. We have looked at the candidates and how they got here and their chances - as well as those out of the race.

The NKP presidential election is overseen by its National Executive Board with the president elected by an electoral college of 1,850 members. Candidates must be nominated by at least fifteen NKP MdB's to appear on the ballot paper before a two round runoff vote is conducted amongst MdB's, MdL's and MEPs and party members. If no candidate receives 50% of the vote in the first vote a second vote is conducted usually a week later where the two candidates who receive the most votes in the first round will be featured on the ballot papers. The one who receives the most votes by fellow MdB's will go on to be leader. If the vote is a tie in the second round then a vote will be conducted by the entire party membership.

Nominations for the first round of voting were opened on the 20th May and closed on the 20th June. The first round of balloting will take place on the 28th and the second round (if there is one) on the 30th.
[size=125]Declared
Andrea Däubler
Image
Age: 50
Current position: Minister of Justice, Minister for Women and Social Mobility
Career: A former corporate lawyer Däubler was elected to the Bundestag in 2007 where she would rapidly rise up through the NKP as a protégé of premier Rasa Šimonytė. When the NKP entered opposition Däubler would emerge as a popular voice within the moderate, centre-right faction of the NKP. Due to this she was appointed as Minister for Justice in 2019 where she has spearheaded attempts to privatise Werania's prison system
Pros: Däubler is well liked by both the moderate and conservative wings of the party with Däubler having loyally served premier von Hösslin unlike other moderates. She has moved to the right since entering government bolstering her appeal to party conservatives particularly on migration issues but remains popular with the moderate wing. Additionally Däubler is thought to have the support of party grandees including Šimonytė and outgoing leader von Hösslin.
Cons: Däubler's shift to the right has unnerved some of her old moderate supporters who have instead gone to support the insurgent candidacy of Roland Kaulbach. Additionally many on the party right distrust her particularly on her climate policy and support for the EC. Additionally she is less popular with the public due to a somewhat stiff personality.

Roland Kaulbach
Image
Age: 62
Current position: Member of the House of Deputies
Career: The candidate with the most experience, Kaulbach is a veteran of the Šimonytė and Wittmann governments. Initially rising his way through Cislanian politics including a short stint as finance secretary Kaulbach was elected to the Euclean Parliament in 1994 and the House of Deputies in 1999. Seen as a bright young talent in 2003 he became Minister of Education before being given the portfolio of Minister of Social Affairs in 2007 and Minister of Finance in 2009. Kaulbach emerged as a leader of the NKP's moderate wing thereafter, having run for the leadership in 2012 and 2016 losing both times. He has since been a critic of von Hösslin opposing the shift to the right of the NKP.
Pros: Kaulbach is the only candidate to have not served in the von Hösslin cabinet so can plausibly reiterate calls for a change in direction. With a wealth of experience as a minister in the last NKP government Kaulbach has incredibly strong credentials and his dogged commitment to slashing spending and privatising public services will appeal to various economic liberals in the NKP.
Cons: Many in the NKP are uncomfortable with the public criticism of the government Kaulbach has done believing it has at times gone to far. Kaulbachs personality is additionally seen as arrogant and condescending by many whilst his connections to the private sector raise red flags for those wary about further conflict of interest scandals. Although memory of the late 2000s economic crisis is receding his time as Finance Minister was unpopular.

Andreas Scheel
Image
Age: 72
Current position Minister of the Administrative and Constitutional Reform
Career: A right-wing factional boss Scheel has alongside outgoing premier von Hösslin and former minister Ulrich Furler been one of the key neoconservatives within the NKP for decades. Widely seen as a numbers man in the upper house Scheel served in the Wittmann cabinet from 2009-2011 and since 2019 has been the Minister of the Administrative and Constitutional Reform. In his role Scheel has sought to shape the chancellery to the government's will as well as streamlining the coordination between the legislature and executive.
Pros: Considered to be the continuity candidate to von Hösslin Scheel as a long-time factional leader has the ability to rally support from his parliamentary colleagues. He is seen additionally as an ideas man having advocated for the restructuring of the Weranian state to be more efficient and centralised as well as introducing the idea of social entrepreneurship into the public discourse.
Cons: As a member of the upper house Scheel would have to enter the lower house to be premier - whilst there is precedent for the outgoing party leader to hand his seat to his successor in the event the latter doesn't hold one as occurred in 2018 when Josef Felder replaced Viktor Oberhauser there is speculation that Scheel would allow von Hösslin to stay premier and focus on running the party in the upper house, denting his credibility. Its believed that Scheel doesn't intend to win but to rather use his factional support to force the election to a second round and thereby emerge as kingmaker.

Anton Raicevich
Image
Age: 43
Current position: Minister of Defence
Career: The youngest candidate in the running, Raicevich comes from a family of Carinthian descent. He gained prominence as the leader of NKP's youth wing New Generation Forum in 2009 building links with right-wing parties outside the EC. He subsequently became involved in the politics of his home province, Wittislich, becoming minister-president in 2016 after his predecessor Moritz Freundlich resigned due to a corruption scandal. Raicevich would lead the party of re-election in Wittislich in 2017 and 2021. In 2021 he became Minister of Defence after the resignation of Ulrich Furler.
Pros: Raicevich is the most popular candidate in NKP party polling and he is the only one to have lead an executive. Although Raicevich is in the populist right-wing of the NKP he is considered more moderate then figures like Bullmann and is generally seen to represent a younger, fresher face for party conservatives.
Cons: Many feel Raicevich has been over-promoted and lacks the experience to lead the government. Many of the party moderates believe him to be a puppet of Bullmann and that he would only worsen the position of the NKP by increasing polarisation between the NKPs populist and moderate wings.

Withdrew
Otto von Hösslin
Image
Age: 69
Current position: Premier
Career: A longtime political fixer, von Hösslin has been at the forefront of NKP politics since the 1990s. Serving in the ministries of the Economy, Health and Defence from 1999 to 2011 von Hösslin would ascend to the NKP leadership in 2016 leading the party to victory in the 2019 federal election. Under his leadership the government has launched reforms of the public sector, a more anti-EC foreign policy and sought to introduce a "culture war" to Werania particularly over climate policy. However his leadership has been dogged by conflict of interest scandals.
Why they withdrew: The Hosokawa scandal. Complex in its details, the thrust of the scandal concerns the improper distribution of state resources via corrupt under the table deals with NKP-linked companies getting preferential treatment in public contracts. Von Hösslin was hugely implicated in the dealings which tanked the NKP's popularity leading to regional leaders to withdraw support for the premier. As a result von Hösslin announced he wouldn't run again.
Could they have won?: Unlikely. Von Hösslin withdrew because he lost the support of the regional parties, most importantly Cislania whilst his reputation among the federal parliamentarians also were poor. As a result the numbers didn't add up and he threw in the towel.

Jörg Bullmann
Image
Age: 49
Current position: Minister of the Interior and Community
Career: The leader of the right-wing populists in the party, Bullmann catapulted into prominence after becoming NKP vice-president in 2016. He has promoted a mixture of Weranic nationalism, anti-immigration rhetoric and Euclescepticism, calling for a souverainiste approach to the Euclean Community being involved in "great replacement" rhetoric. Controversially appointed as Interior Minister Bullmann has had influence over other NKP policy, being a prominent supporter of the Tribune Movement in the government.
Why they withdrew: A plagiarism scandal combined with the Cislanian NKP branch throwing its support behind Raicevich's candidacy torpedoed Bullmann's chance leading him to withdraw and endorse Raicevich.
Could they have won?: Prior to the plagiarism scandal Bullmann was the main opponent of Däubler. However his inflammatory rhetoric would've made him a tough sell to party moderates and he is widely seen to have been behind the leaks that ultimately ended von Hösslin's premiership giving him a large amount of enemies in the party.

Declined
Bartholomäus Stobrawa
Image
Age: 54
Current position: Minister-President of Cislania
Career: A close associate of Bullmann and Raicevich, Stobrawa led a takeover of the Cislanian NKP after it lost election in 2014. Promoting a populist programme combined with a charismatic personality Stobrawa led the party to victory in the 2018, wounding the federal government - led by former Cislanian minister-president Josef Felder - and establishing himself as the uncontested boss of the Cislanian NKP. Over the past four years he has emerged as an effective machine politician leading the party to re-election this year. Stobrawa is widely seen to have killed the premiership of von Hösslin and the candidacy of Bullmann after indicating he wouldn't swing the Cislanian NKP behind them.
Why they didn't run: Having just won re-election in Cislania Stobrawa promised to serve out as Minister-President rather then jump into federal politics. Many believe he would rather be a kingmaker then go for the top job.
Could they have won?: Most likely yes. Stobrawa is popular in the party and the general public combining hardline positions with a folksy, upbeat image. He is well regarded across the party as a pragmatist.

Raicevich wins NKP leadership, set to become premier.
Moderate rival Andrea Däubler appointed as his deputy.

WESTBRÜCKEN, WERANIA - The NKP has confirmed Defence Minister Anton Raicevich as the new federal president of the party after his rival Andrea Däubler withdrew from the second round of the leadership election, clearing a path for him to become the country's next premier.

Having won the most votes amongst federal and provincial parliamentarians as well as party members in the first round Raicevich was set to face Däubler in a runoff election today before she withdrew from the contest allowing Raicevich to be confirmed as leader unopposed. Reportedly the Raicevich and Däubler campaigns agreed to avoid a runoff after Raicevich agreed to appoint Däubler as vice-president of the party succeeding Jörg Bullmann.

It is thought that the NKP wanted to avoid an acrimonious second round and promote party unity after a bruising few months as the NKP has slid in the polls due to corruption allegations.

Raicevich is set to announce a new cabinet this weekend when premier Otto von Hößlin leaves office taking control of Euclea's third largest economy. The current NKP-DA coalition is set to confirm a Raicevich cabinet due to their majority in the Bundestag with Raicevich confirming he will reappoint the incumbent DA ministers to their current posts. Raicevich has refused to announce potential cabinet picks albeit it is widely expected that Däubler will succeed Wolfgang Kanthar as Finance Minister.

The new premier will have a busy inbox as rising fuel costs have caused the cost of living to increase. Additionally increasing refugee flows from Tsabara have led to a divide in the government as has concerns over the rule of law in Paretia.

In his first speech as leader Raicevich has stated his priorities will be the implementation of a "flattened" income tax system, a reduction of illegal migration, strong law and order policies, closer cooperation with non-Euclean allies such as Etruria and Senria and the promotion of "Sotirian values".

Analysts say that Raicevich could shore up support for the NKP being widely respected across the right of the political spectrum. However he has a tough task cleaning up the perception of the party as corrupt and self-serving and may be isolated in the EC due to his hard right views.

Patron League and Independence Movement announce they will merge into a singular new party known as Popular Victory
The Patrons and Independence Movement have become one party as of today, known as Popular Victory it will encompass the two parties that were apart of O Povo, but O Povo will still exist, leading to speculation of possible new parties joining

Precea, Luzela: Today the Patron League and Independence Movement met in Precea, this meeting included Horácio Pacau, leader of the MI, Selena Caprichoso, General Secretary of the LP, and Premier Cerqueira, Chair of the LP. Cerqueira after the meeting announced plans to unite the Patron League and Independence Movement into one new party, with a makeover included new logo, name, and color.

The new party will be called "Popular Victory", it's new logo includes a toureiro, but instead of holding a red flag commonly seen in bullfighting, he is holding a Paretian flag. The party will also have a new election color, a deep purple similar to that of the Paretian flag, purple is usually considered the most commonly associated color with Paretia.

This news came after the split of the Alternative Party into the Independence Movement and National Reform Party. The Independence Movement began to meet with LP leaders shortly after, Pacau stated that he foresaw "misfortune for our party if we stood alone, merging into the Patron League was our best option." The new National Reform Party leader Emilia Villacís responded to his statement saying "Pacau has made a terrible mistake joining into Cerqueira's far-right extremist movement."

The new party will be lead by Isilda Cerqueira, with Horácio Pacau, Selena Caprichoso, and Paulo Sérgio Lima as Deputies. The party stated that it plans to encompass the elements from both the Patron League and Independence Movement, and not focus solely on the majority of the party, being the former.

Premier Cerqueira said this during her announcement: "We have had thoughts of a party makeover in the back of our minds for a while here at the Patron League, but ever since those traitor left the Alternative Party, Pacau came to us and said that his party was in jeopardy. He wasn't wrong, why would anyone vote for one party when the bigger one has a similar platform? So, we made a plan to make a new party and putting both our parties into this new Popular Victory party. We will surely gain seats of course, but now our message is clearer than ever. We will put foreward our platform, we believe it is similar to our older one, but the message is still clear, an independent Paretia, a patriotic Paretia, a Sotirian Paretia, a victorious Paretia."

Social Democrat leader Talia Caselles said in reponse to the creation of the new party "They have a slimmer majority, they are in a weaker position, this move to bolster Cerqueira's prominance in Paretia will change nothing. We will continue our message, the democratic backsliding in this country could get worse in the future with this new image Cerqueira has. But we will stand firm to fight back."

The O Povo political alliance will still exist with just Popular Victory in it, this has lead to speculation of new parties joining the alliance.

Federal Paretian Law Enforcement arrest leader of the League of Socialists for Tosuton Independence for leading protest that was declared unlawful by authorities

Artur Pagès Satorra is charged of Leading a Protest that was declared Unlawful assembly

Encerosa, Tosutonia: Protests in Tosutonia grow after the arrest of Artur Pagès Satorra, leader of the League of Socialists for Tosuton Independence, a Tosuton left-wing separatist party that advocates for an independent Tosutonia from the United Kingdom.

He was arrested for leading a protest in downtown Encerosa, outside of the local Popular Victory, formerly LP headquarters, where local party leaders of the Popular Victory members planned to meet. The local police declared the protest unlawful due to threats of violence against VP officials, followed by the Federal Law Enforcement. Despite the protest being declared unlawful it continued, Satorra was then arrested by Federal Law Enforcement officers.

Police say that Satorra as well as one other protest leader, the other a politician from the Tosuton Front party, Beatriu Nonell, were arrested.

Some are calling the arrest an act of political repression and Satorra is a political prisoner of the Federal Law Enforcement. Satorra currently will be replaced by his party's deputy leader, Vicenç Serrat.

Protesters in recent hours since the arrests have become noticeably more violent, especially in Encerosa where one car was destroyed so far. Fear of a more violent riot tonight grows as it appears many Tosuton protesters are not happy with the news of the arrest of Satorra by the Federal Police. Encerosa's city police have sent a warning to Tosuton businesses to prepare for a possible riot tonight.

Federal Ministry for Health and Social Services launches “Renaissance Project”
Image
Approximately 35,000 people are homeless in Etruria.

The federal government has officially launched its “Renaissance Project”, a €780 million scheme aimed at combatting drug addiction and homelessness. At a press event, Health Minister Giorgio Amadeo Spadafora said, “now begins the good work of helping those most vulnerable and desperate.”

The Renaissance Project was first announced several weeks after last year’s federal election. The Tribunes agreed to launch a major initiative to combat homelessness and drug addiction when it signed an electoral agreement with the Social Party of the Third Order, the Franciscan inspired sister party of the Tribunes.

Over the course of a year, Minister Spadafora worked to link the FMHSS scheme with some leading charities, including the House of Dignity and Restitution, the largest Catholic Church run NGO dedicated to drug rehabilitation and Pace e Santuario, the largest network of homeless shelters, and lastly, Caritas, a Church run network of superMarkets and food banks, which has signed up to provide employment opportunities for those engaged with the scheme. Those who successfully go through rehabilitation, if addicted to narcotics and receive good reviews from employers will be fast tracked for federal housing.

The federal government has granted the scheme €750 million, which also includes the expansion of shelters for House of Dignity and PeS and the employment of 2,300 volunteers.

The scheme will also see new legislation altering current sentences for citizens arrested for drug possession. Individuals arrested for possession without a fixed address will no longer face custodial sentences but rather mandated participation in the project. Repeat offenders with fixed addresses will however face prison sentences. Harsher sentences for drug dealers and traffickers is also likely to follow in legislation in connection to the upcoming Criminal Sentencing Law.

Minister Spadafora told reporters and charity leaders, “it is imperative that we, the state come to recognise the difference in circumstances. We cannot and must not continue the blind and tunnel vision like approach to those addicted to drugs. There is a fundamental difference between the urban middle class party goer, or the student and the poor underclass who’s addictions have denied them a home, a life and family.”

“With this scheme we will work tirelessly to lift the homeless and those made homeless by the demon of addiction off our streets and back into the dignity of life. By providing shelter, regular meals and through Caritas, job opportunities the federal government can go someway in rebuilding lives.

“And in close cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Education and Vocational Skills, we can also provide qualification training and vocational training for those who participate. This will enable them to secure long term careers and readily rise the jobs ladder.

“We have within this project the means to end homelessness and guarantee that no one is left behind in our Republic. We will take to the streets in Sotirian spirit and aid those who need aid. We must differentiate between the desperate and the habitual, the truly addicted and the party goer, but more importantly ensure those who are crippled in body, mind and spirit by addiction are not treated the same as the well off youngster out for a good time. This programme will do that and it will do so compassionately and respectfully, I am confident this programme will save lives” he said further.

This would mark the largest investment in tackling homelessness and drug addiction in Etrurian history. It is also the first federal scheme to draw upon charities in such a direct and formalised manner.

An estimated 35,740 people are currently homeless in Etruria, with the largest concentrations found in Solaria, Tyrrenhus and Faulia.

BREAKING Vlatko Dobrila elected federal leader of the Farmers and Workers Union
Dobrila's victory consolidates the FWU's shift to the far-right.
NOTIZIE by Aurelia Bossi
05 July, 2022

Image
Vlatko Dobrila addressing party members.

Far-right firebrand Representative Vlatko Dobrila has won the leadership race for the federal party of the Farmers and Workers Union, defeating Marko Kangrga. Dobrila received 54,920 votes against Kangrga’s 36,303 votes. At his victory event with Prefect Franjo Sarič in attendance, Dobrila said, “our unity in purpose will carry our party to victory and we will serve Novalia and Etruria with true determination and virtue.”

In his acceptance speech, Dobrila, the Representative of Bukova Greda and Štitar told the 4,500 party members present, “I thank all members of the party who backed me to secure this position. But I am also grateful to the members who do not, for engaging in our democratic process, this party would not be the great institution it is with you, and I promise to serve you and all members, Novalians and Etrurians at large to the best of my ability.”
He went on to say, “now that this matter has been settled our party can now unite through common purpose. Retaining government in Novalia and helping maintain and build the patriotic and Catholic government of our federation. We can, together with our compatriots in the Tribune Movement and the Social Party of the Third truly stand up and build the Republic our people deserve and demanded for over thirty years.”
To a standing ovation he said “our unity in purpose will carry our party to victory and we will serve Novalia and Etruria with true determination and virtue.”

After a three-week bitter and gruelling campaign, the frontrunner and far-right agitator Dobrila, defeated the mild-mannered social conservative Marko Kangrga in what will surely confirm the FWU’s shift to the far-right. Throughout the leadership race, Dobrila repeatedly claimed that the party could no longer afford to be “split down the middle” and that division would “unleash upon our Novalian homeland the desolation of Euclo-leftist nihilism.” At his final event before FWU members in Supetar he said, “if the SD win here that will prove they can win anywhere and before you know it, all of Etruria has been seized by the left. But for Novalia, I would rather suffer indignity and torture than see our homeland become the next Hennehouwe.”

Dobrila’s position of being the candidate that would unite the party is testament to the previous divergence between the state party led by Sarič and the federal party led by Davor Krstičević whose resignation three weeks ago prompted the leadership race. Sarič, who has served as Novalia’s Prefect since 2017 has shifted the party dramatically to the right, so much so that he secured a promise in 2018 from the Tribune Movement that they would no longer compete for seats in the state during federal elections, in exchange, the FWU would back Tribune policies. This culminated in 2019 with the formal establishment of Patria, the loose election alliance between the two parties and the Social Party of the Third Order. Sarič as Prefect has overseen numerous legislative acts like those found in Tribune-led Carinthia, Palestrina and Veratia. However, this was in stark contrast to Krstičević and the federal party, which despite backing Tribune policies regularly fronted its continued traditional FWU platform of social conservatism and agrarianism, breaking over agricultural policies and regulations. Several FWU senators prior to 2021 quaked at being forced to back controversial Tribune policies such as restoring the death penalty, turning the State Council of the Federation into a rubber-stamp institution and backing policies aimed at historical revisionism.

The leadership race offered a chance, through Kangrga, a long-time parliamentarian and a grandee of the traditional wing of the FWU to hold up resistance to the party’s drift toward the far-right. Though Kangrga was hobbled by the necessity of limiting criticism of the Tribune Movement to protect the FWU’s position. He regularly claimed that the federal party should “respect the roots and origins of the party. We are a party of farmers and the traditional voters of Novalia, we need not abandon this.” One consistent criticism of Kangrga’s campaign was the “lack of any general platform beyond, we should stay as we are” as described by one FWU senator.

Rumours have persisted since Dobrila’s likely victory was recognised, that the FWU would undergo a “significant rebrand and transformation to mark its new political reality.” This also coincides with reports that the Tribune Movement and the FWU will compete within Novalia as a formal electoral alliance through Patria to off-set the surging SD.

Both Dobrila and Sarič are keen for Patria to become more formal federally, with FWU lawmakers sitting in the federal cabinet, as well as being permitted to compete in rural seats in Carinthia, though the latter is debatable in terms of Tribune acquiescence.

President Francesco Carcaterra congratulated Dobrila on his victory in a social media post. Posted in Novalian he said, “Congratulations to Vlatko Dobrila on his resounding victory. As federal leader of the Tribunes I look forward to working closely with him.”

It has since been confirmed that Dobrila has been invited to close talks with Carcaterra and other senior Tribunes.

Riots rock Encerosa and Tosutonia after arrest of Tosuton separatist politician
After the arrest of Artur Pagès Satorra by the Federal Law Enforcement, protests in Tosutonia became violent in response with angry citizens claiming Satorra is a political prisoner, riots continue for a second day

Protesters burned numerous objects and police vehicles

Encerosa, Tosutonia: Protests in Tosutonia become violent after the arrest of Artur Pagès Satorra by the Federal Paretian Law Enforcement. The arrest came during a protest outside a Popular Victory office against the overturn of Tosutonia's abortion law, where the protest was declared unlawful by local police due to fear of violence. Satorra continued to operate the protest and he and another politician were arrested for leading the protests.

Artur Pagès Satorra is the leader of the left-wing Tosuton separatist party, League of Socialists for Tosuton Independence. Some protesters claim that his arrest is meant to instill fear in Tosuton protesters and that he is a political prisoner for standing up to the Popular Victory government.

The government of Tosutonia has declared the protests to be riots and have sent in local police to quell the violence. Regional Premier of Tosutonia and new leader of the Social Democrats, Talia Caselles, has stated that the violence "should cease, we ourselves are suspicious of this arrest by the Federal Police, but please return home and show your anger in a peaceful manner."

Image
Tosuton regional police have been deployed in riot gear
Premier Cerqueira stated that the riots "are a concoction of lies and deceit made by the liberal-left who have a strong hold on the Kingdom of Tosutonia. The anger over this arrest is only to cause fear and harm the normal Paretian citizen. The protesters who protest peacefully will get the right to remain but those who seek to hurt others will be dealt with, I have spoken with Interior Minister Roque and we will send support to the local police soon, these riots are nothing but detrimental for the Tosuton people."

The Federal Paretian Law enforcement still have Satorra in custody. So far the damage in Encerosa has been the burning of numerous objects, as well as local police cars and garbage cans. So far 15 protesters have been injured, with 71 arrested so far. 1 officer has been injured in the riots so far. Fears that the sending of Federal Paretian Law Enforcement will further anger the riot and cause it to get worse, local Tosuton leaders say that the riots have a massive Tosuton separatist element, seen with the Tosuton flags being flown by protesters, including the estrelldera, a Tosuton-separatist flag.

Encerosa is preparing for more violence tonight as it appears that it may continue or may get worse.

Subsidy Package for "Medium" Businesses to Be Voted On

Novigrad - As promised a little over two weeks ago, a subsidy package aimed at supporting "medium" businesses has made its way into the halls of parliament. The term "medium" business, first coined by conservative MP's during the debate on providing aid to small businesses, refers to businesses that fall between a small business and a corporation. Some have noted that identifying businesses within this in-between zone will not be easy, as the distinction between a small business and a corporation are quite clear. Businesses that fall in this category may very well get overlooked by this government package, while businesses that dont fall within the category may be miss-identified and given aid.

Many within parliament, primarily those in the RSF voting bloc, are still waiting for a concrete definition for what a "medium" business is. MPs within the RCF have yet to provide one. President Abramov has, of course, sided with his peers in the RCF. However, like his peers, Abramov also lacks a concrete criterion for identifying a business as being "medium" in scale. The best the RCF has come up with in terms of an identifying factor for "medium" businesses is a business possessing 'more than 100 employees, but less that 500 employees'.

This identifier would, however, single out quite a few businesses that others would classify as being "medium" in scale. In the end, it is expected that this aid package will take more time than its predecessor to pass through Parliment

Construction of the Central Railway Getting Underway

Gridă- The Central Railway, a public transit project meant to compliment the Central Highway, has begun construction today. The current plan for the construction of this railway involves three stages. First, the city of Gridă will be linked with the towns and villages along the southern coast. This will be accomplished by linking the southern rail lines with the new interior central line. Once this is completed, Gridă will be linked with Ravnia's northern villages and towns via the northern rail lines. Finally the east coast, Ravnia's economic center, will be linked to the interior via the central line and the eastern coastal lines.

The city of Gridă has been chosen as the central hub for the Central Railway due to its significance within the Ravnian Interior. Gridă stands as the only major urban center in the Ravnian interior, with the runner ups being large towns south of the city. Gridă is thus the economic heart of the interior, making its role as the center of the new Central Railway an obvious choice.

The construction of the Central Railway is expected to take two and a half years, with some of Ravnia's best civil engineers taking on the task of linking the rural interior with the urbanized coast.

Military Helicopter Crash Leaves Six Dead

Parpina - In the village of Parpina, located just five miles south of Gridă, a tragedy has taken place. An RAAF (Ravnian Army Air Force) transport helicopter crash landed just outside the village, crushing two cars. Stunned onlookers could only watch as the helicopter plummeted out of the sky, exploding in a large fireball as it hit the ground. The RAAF has not released an official statement on this incident, but many are chalking it up to some kind of mechanical failure in the aircraft's engine.

The helicopter, like most of Ravnian equipment, is relatively old. So speculators are chalking up the accident to the age of the helicopter, coupled with poor maintenance. The helicopter came from Gridă national guard airbase north of the city and was on its way to pick up new recruits from a costal training base on the south coast. Luckily, no one else besides the pilot and co-pilot were onboard the helicopter when it crashed. Unfortunately, the helicopter crashed onto two cars, killing four people. No one else was injured in the accident.

CUANSTAD MILLERS COMMITS TO REJUVENATION
Owner Edgar dell'Oden's strategy is the three Rs: revitalize, recruit, and rebuild
SHAREImage Image Image Image

Today, Edgar dell'Oden, new owner of the Cuanstad Millers, announced his plans to rejuvenate the long-standing Arucian Baseball League franchise at a press conference room at the Orient Stadium, as a way to counteract the Miller's "years of decline."

"Since 2002, attendance has been declining at home games because of many seasons of the Millers having such poor quality in baseball that they are indistinguishable from some team in the backwoods of Cassier," Dell'Oden said at the press conference. "This has caused significant damage to the health of our team, as when your team keeps losing, season after season; year after year, fans are less likely to want to watch the Millers. They will want to do something else, like Euclean football, Arucian football, or horse racing, than watch the Millers keep losing."

"While over the past couple of seasons, we are seeing the Cuanstad Millers get better and better, the damage that this has done to the Millers has proven intractable, and many people do not think that the Millers are good, even though in the 2021 and 2022 seasons, they have achieved their best ever results since the 2002 season," Dell'Oden said. "This has not been helped by the fact that Orient Stadium needs major refurbishments to keep it up with the standards of ABL stadiums in other teams of the league, and by our long-standing financial problems, although we are taking steps to improve our financial situation so we can return to what we do best: baseball."

Edgar dell'Oden then presented his plans to rejuvenate the Cuanstad Millers, so to attract greater interest among the Imaguan public, presenting what dell'Oden called the "three Rs."

"The first R is revitalising the stadium," Dell'Oden said. "We are committed to refurbishing the seats, improving concession offerings and improving amenities so that we will begin to catch up with the rest of the Arucian Baseball League. In the long term, we are committed to doing a full-scale renovation so that it will be at the same standard as the newer stadiums in the Arucian Baseball League, such as the Parc Laurent in Canicule."

"The second R is recruitment. As you all know, there is a draft coming in the next while, and we are going to do our best to recruit high-quality players who will continue what we have done in the 2021 and 2022 seasons," Dell'Oden said. "If we fail to recruit the best players, and instead get the scraps like the Millers has been for a long time, then we will never get out of the hole we're in."

"The third and final R is reputation," Dell'Oden said. "Simply put, despite our improved performance in 2021 and 2022, most Imaguans either do not care about the Millers existing, or still see us as the worst team in the entire league. In my opinion, this is the most important thing to guarantee our success: we need to market the team as it is now, not as it was. We need to emphasize that we are improving, and we need to do our best to promote ourselves, and to this end, we need to innovate new ways of marketing, so that when the 2023 season begins, we will end our twenty-year long decline, and begin our long journey upwards towards being a great team."

"I am completely and absolutely confident that with the proper application of the three Rs strategy, with a revitalised stadium, decent recruitment, and proper rebuilding of our reputation, the Cuanstad Millers will be here for at least the next seventy-five years," Dell'Oden declared. "And who knows? Depending on how well we do, we may be able to win our third pennant in the Arucian Series."

During an interview, we asked Edgar dell'Oden if the Cuanstad Millers would move to another city under his ownership.

He told the ITS that "we are staying committed to Cuanstad, we are staying committed to Imagua. Despite past rumours or proposals to move the team to Citadelle [in Sainte-Chloe] "under previous owners, we will continue to ensure that Imagua in general, and Cuanstad in particualar has an Arucian baseball team."

Reporters from the Cuanstad Sentinel asked whether the Millers will be investing in a new stadium to help rejuvenate the team.

Edgar dell'Oden said that "right now, we do not have the resources [for an entirely new stadium], and we lack the reputation needed to ask the [Imaguan] government to invest in an entirely new and modern baseball stadium without being accused of 'draining taxpayer dollars' from things that we truly need. Until we have the resources or the reputation, we have to make do with what we have."

Government announces civil service reforms
Plans to make easier the sacking and appointing of civil servants
NOTIZIE by Aurelia Bossi
06 July, 2022

Image
Leonardo Gambaccini revealed the plans.

The government has revealed plans for a legislative bill that will overhaul the federal civil service, including powers for ministers to sack and replace Senior Under-Secretaries and internal department managers, opening up positions by changing required qualifications and placing rules and wellbeing under the minister.

Addressing the Chamber of Representatives, Chief Secretary to the Federal Cabinet Leonardo Gambaccini said, “persistently and consistently the federal civil service has failed to adapt to the times we live in, be it functionally or otherwise. That is why this government is announcing its intentions to present a bill to the Chamber significantly overhauling the civil service and its relationship to the democratic elected government of this country.”

“It is vital that our civil service be modern, efficient, proactive and innovative. A successful and modern civil service would prove a boon to any government in delivering change and services to all Etrurians” he said further.

The draft bill which was circulated among members this morning includes a number of provisions, most aimed at making it easier to sack and hire senior officials and adding accountability to civil servants who fail to support their minister or the policy being advocated. The loosening of qualifications for civil service positions is hoped to restore meritocracy to public service, with the Cabinet Secretary saying, “no longer will public service within federal government be limited to select few or alumni, by committing to this change we will enable the federal civil service to access the wealth of experience, knowledge and capability found in the private sector.”

On granting ministers the ability to remove and appoint Senior Under-Secretaries; the head civil servants found in each federal Ministry, Gambaccini said, “there remains in our civil service as a persistent issue of dogma and resistance, an issue this government has faced for six years. By granting ministers the ability to remove and appoint Senior Under-Secretaries obstructionism of any kind can be dealt with, but more widely speaking, we will deliver a means of accountability on our civil servants.”

On the provision of transferring ministerial rules and employee wellbeing to the minister’s executive office, Gambaccini told the Chamber, “the duty of care of ministerial staff should befall the minister and their office. This will ensure accountability, but also ensure that rules and wellbeing initiatives are fitting of the times we live in. No longer will they be asinine or antediluvian, but modern and reflective of the modern Etrurian workplace.”

Smaller measures include the abolition of overtime for employees of grade 3 or higher, introduction of on site childcare or government subsidies for federal employees and 12-month paid maternity leave for workers of ministries.

The reforms were reportedly drawn up in 2017 a year after the Tribunes first came to power. However, the presence of the FWU in coalition with the Tribunes until 2018 allayed tensions between the government and civil servants. The 2018 Tribune landslide however promoted “serious tensions between the career officials and ministers” according to a Tribune source. For the past five years, the Tribunes succeeded in getting policies through as planned by often relying on the threat of implementing the reforms being presented today. Now that the government is pressing ahead may indicate that tensions have persisted and worsened.

Several months ago, Industry and Labour Minister, Coriolano Crin Cioran told ARE, “you know there is a problem with the civil service. They all think like the Poteri Oscuri, you know, the Euclo-Leftist types, very metropolitan and very pro-EC. They’re a problem.”

There has been no statement from the Federal Division Union, the trade Union that represents the 13,940 civil servants in Povelia. The FDU has long clashed with the Tribune Movement, over pensions, the return of crucifixes to offices and the Tribune demand that overtime end.

The SD, the official party of opposition stated that it would read the draft bill in full before issuing a formal statement, likely on Friday during the week’s Resolution Session. The Sotirian People’s Force has already denounced the draft as an attack on the “independence and talent of the civil service” and a “new Tribune assault upon what few institutions remain free of their corruption.”

Mauro Cesare Capra lays down the gauntlet over EC
Leader of the Citizens' Alliance defiantly rejects calls for a pro-EC platform as internal party civil war worsens
NOTIZIE by Aurelia Bossi
06 July, 2022

Image
Mauro Cesare Capra gave his speech to the Faulia Chamber of Business

Mauro Cesare Capra, the embattled leader of the divided Citizens’ Alliance has used a speech to the Faulian Chamber of Business to deny calls from within the party, for it to adopt a clear pro-EC platform. He told business leaders, “the people of this country spoke six years ago. They said no, it is the responsible and democratic duty of politicians to accept that answer.”

Ever since Capra became leader of the Citizens’ Alliance in mid-2021, he has struggled to assert his authority in a party deeply divided over the issue of Euclean Community membership. Many within the centrist political party, which suffered catastrophic losses in the 2021 federal election, believe that the party should present a plan for post-Tribune Etruria that focuses on EC membership. Much like the SD, which also suffers from internal tensions over EC membership, though to a less disruptive degree, the Citizens’ division has threatened to tear the party at the seams.

Under pressure for his own sake and the party’s continued slide in polls likely resulted in today’s speech. Eager to assert himself, Capra appeared at the Faulia Chamber of Business confident and stern. He told members, “I understand many in this room, my party and indeed the wider country still dream and yearn of a Etruria firmly inside the Euclean family of nations, inside the Community, contributing to Euclean peace and prosperity. I too spent many years believing that this would become reality, I believed this in 2016, but for many Etrurians this was not appropriate.”

“We can sit and debate until judgement day on why Etrurians rejected EC membership, after all, was it not the shared national objective the day democracy was restored in 1984? Was it fear over immigration and emigration? Was it fears of our economy being subsumed by Werania, Gaullica and Estmere? Was it the conflation of Miraviglia with the EC? Was it Tribune lies and conspiracy theories? From where we sit today, the reasons are irrelevant, the people spoke” he said further.

“That the people spoke is reason enough for this matter to be settled. Our party is democratic, we adhere by mandates and the popular will. To stand and demand a re-run six years later is anti-democratic as it is arrogant. There is no will for a re-run, there is no clamour among the people for the issue to be resurrected. This is lamentable to pro-Eucleans such as myself, but that is reality. To defy reality is foolish, to defy the popular will is unforgivable” he told business leaders.

“Our focus as a party should firmly be rested upon evicting from power, this government. This government brings shame to Etruria day after day, it’s existence as much as its actions and rhetoric spit upon the sacrifice tens of thousands of Etrurians made during the military regime. It is a grotesque throwback to the politics of hate, anger and fury. It wraps itself in the tricolore holding aloft the cross as cover for its bigotry, hate and authoritarianism. This government’s populism and nationalism serving as a fuel for its systematic demolition of our constitution, our democracy and our Republic.

“It infects all that it touches and now its corruption spreads to other countries, such as Paretia. This government is an existential threat to the Etruria thousands died to secure. It poses an existential threat to all of us in that it may drag us all back to the darkest and deepest recesses of our history. This is what we must focus on, this is what we muster every iota of energy and power to confront and defeat. Arguing and debating over a six-year-old settled issue does not serve us nor our democracy. We must unite and confront the threat we face before it is too late” he said with a heightened degree of passion.

He went on to say firmly, “that is why I am officially proclaiming this one last time, under no circumstances will this party officially promote EC membership at the next federal election. Not at all. The people of this country spoke six years ago. They said no, it is the responsible and democratic duty of politicians to accept that answer.”

His speech was firm and bold but carries the risk of driving away the pro-EC wing altogether. There remain consistent talk of senators splitting away and forming a new political party. Though, the divisions between the pro-EC wing and Capra’s wing goes beyond just the EC. The pro-EC wing is also notably more left-wing, and critical of Capra’s efforts to push the AC toward a liberal and pro-business platform. Many suspected defections from the pro-EC wing to the SD, though Chiara Mastromarino’s own opposition to talking up EC membership again has put the brakes on any defection.

An AC senator who spoke to us under condition of anonymity said, “there’s a growing feeling on our side of the party [Capra’s wing] that a split might be more beneficial. One of the most consistent weaknesses of the opposition in Etruria has been its own division, the Tribunes feed off it. A united and focused Citizens’ Alliance could truly provide an alternative, but us fighting over the EC everyday makes a mockery of our efforts.”

Another senator and a close associate of Annalisa Taddei, the Prefect of Carvagna and Capra’s most strident rival told us, “the speech was it. I do not see how the party continues down this path with Capra as leader with that finality to the debate. Capra is more interested in being pro-business that proving the Citizens’ progressive positions. We need to fight to kick out the Tribunes, but we also need a greater and brighter post-Tribune future to offer the people, that includes joining the EC.”

Whether the speech holds the Citizens’ Alliance together or proves to be the final hammer blow, only time will tell.

Piedmont Chemical embroiled in controversy after Adamantine doctors denounce the usage of antipsychotics to treat gender dysphoria
Fifteen doctors at the University of Porto Pellegrini signed an open letter denouncing the pharmaceutical giant's labeling of certain antipsychotics, which the company says can threat gender dysphoria. How improper diagnosis, corporate lobbying and medical institutions betray the virtues of science.
Crocefisso Friscia (@CrocefissoFriscia) | July 6, 2022 | Porto Pellegrini

Adamantine pharmaceutical giant, Piedmont Chemical first developed the atypical antipsychotic Akivene in 1993 as treatment for borderline personality disorder accompanied with dysphoric rumination. The usage of the drug for gender dysphoria did not start until two studies published by the Adamantine Psychiatric Coalition (APC) in 1999 and 2001 showed there was perhaps an overlap in personality, mood, dissociative and psychotic disorders. These studies have been condemned by the majority within the medical community, with two studies in 2018 and 2019 by an Adamantine psychiatrist and Estmere psychologist drawing significantly different conclusions than the earlier mentioned studies in 1999 and 2001.

It was no coincidence that the two medical professionals released the studies when they did, both were aware that Piedmont Chemical was pushing the drug Akivene as a 'cure all' for gender dysphoria as early as 2015. Conservative anxiety within the country against gender nonconforming citizens prompted Piedmont Chemical's interest in pushing the drug, confirmed by leaked corporate memos in 2022. In 2020 a study published by the University of San Loreto was utilized to further push the efficacy of Akivene, in addition to the Adamantine Psychiatric Coalition's decision to maintain its label "gender identity disorder" (GID) in its diagnostic manual. The University of San Loreto is a major Piedmont partner in pharmaceutical research, receiving tens of millions of dollars in research funding from the corporation, leading many to question its research. Professor Asterio Brocato at the University of San Loreto has been an outspoken critic against gender reassignment procedures, stating in 2021 "How is that a man, who believes he is a woman trapped in a man’s body different from the feelings of a patient with anorexia nervosa who is obese despite their emaciated, cachectic state. We don’t do liposuction on anorexics. Why amputate the genitals of these patients?”.

Backlash against Professor Asterio Brocato ensured after his statements were published in the Adamantine Journal of Medical Review, drawing condemnation from fifteen medical professionals at the University of Porto Pellegrini. Within the open letter, the fifteen doctors called upon Piedmont Chemical to stop pushing Akivene on nongender confirming citizens and for the Adamantine Psychiatric Coalition to remove "gender identity disorder" (GID) from its diagnostic manual. In the last paragraph of the open letter the petitioners also called on Asterio Brocato to resign from his position at the University of San Loreto, and for the Medical Board of San Loreto to revoke the professor's medical license. Since the letters publishing, Asterio Brocato has remained apart of the University of San Loreto, and the Medical Board of San Loreto rejected the calls for his license removal.

The open letter has also made its rounds in political circles, with neither major party commenting. In June, the Solidarista Youth and the Solidarista University Youth petitioned the Central Committee of the Solidarty Party but no response was provided. On June 15, Fleano Tramontozzi, the Solidarista Senator from San Loreto stated that "the decision to take Akivene to treat their mental illness is their decision alone." Members of his party's progressive wing called for him to resign, and that his statements were "based in ignorance and intolerance". The Solidarity Party of San Loreto sent eighteen bags of sand to the party's progressive congressmen who denounced Fleano Tramontozzi, with notes attached stating "Pound it." While this political spectacle has enthralled the nation for the last month, most in the public have lost focus.

The fifteen original medical petitions are the University of Porto Pelleigrini have stated that Piedmont Chemical has successfully diverted attention away from itself due to the sand bag fiasco and that the public needs to redirect its attention back to one of the nation's most powerful corporations.

Three Citizens’ Alliance senators abandon party
Three backbenchers led by Aurelia Dondera quit to sit as independents over EC policy
NOTIZIE by Aurelia Bossi
07 July, 2022

Image
Aurelia Dondera defended the split claiming the Alliance no longer shared the trio's political beliefs.

The Citizens’ Alliance has lost three Representatives after they quit the party to sit as independents. Aurelia Dondera, Rosa Tornatore and Giorgio Amadeo Trivulzio abandoned the Alliance in response to a speech by party leader Mauro Cesare Capra, who firmly rejected any possibility of the CA championing EC membership going forward.

At 10pm last night, it was announced that Dondera, Tornatore and Trivulzio had quit the Citizens’ Alliance, they claimed that the party’s rejection of Euclean Community membership in a post-Tribune future denied them a place within the party.

The three representatives are well known voices among the CA’s pro-EC left-wing, especially Aurelia Dondera, the Representative for Cologno Al Serio who has been the most persistent critic of leader Mauro Cesare Capra’s driving of the party to the pro-business liberal right. The three reportedly awaited Capra’s speech to the Faulia Chamber of Business, expecting a major announcement on the EC issue which has divided the party since Capra was elected leader in mid-2021.

Capra told business leaders, “There is no will for a re-run, there is no clamour among the people for the issue to be resurrected” and “this is lamentable to pro-Eucleans such as myself, but that is reality. To defy reality is foolish, to defy the popular will is unforgivable.” His words ultimately confirmed to the three that the party no longer shared their political beliefs. As Dondera told reporters late last night outside the Senate, “if the party does not belief in a Euclean future, then there is no future for us in the party.”

The news did not prove overly shocking to senior CA officials, including Capra himself, who chirpred, “I wish my erstwhile colleagues the best and thank them for their service. But we press on to deliver the Etrurian people a liberal, pro-buisness and pro-freedom alternative.”

This morning, Dondera opted to give a press conference at the Palazzo Orsini telling journalists, “it is only natural for political parties to evolve over time, be it from the pressure of society or it comes from the top, but parties change. The Citizens’ Alliance has changed, we once served as the spearhead of EC membership, now that is no longer the case.” She said further, “however, seeing Etrurian join the Euclean Community for me, for Rosa and Giorgio remain our loftiest objective. We believe, as do many in the Citizens’ Alliance and I also believe the Social Democrats, that Etruria in the Euclean Community is the culmination of our redemocratisation and frankly, the best defence against the Tribune Movement or any far-right mob of their like.”

“Our future lies with our Euclean friends, not the dark and hateful desolation the Tribunes wish to take us kicking and screaming. I understand that Etrurians rejected membership in 2016, but I truly believe in my heart that rejection came from Miraviglia and the corruption of the centre-right and the SD. I understand the apprehension and doubt of Etrurians, but that is what myself, Rosa and Giorgio believe we should be championing, to persuade our fellow Etrurians that the EC is where we must go. If our party would commit itself to this, then we must go elsewhere to do just that” she explained.

Asked if the three would join the SD, Dondera replied, “no. Sadly, the SD under Chiara Mastromarino appears to share Mauro Cesare’s position. So we will not find suitable places in the SD.” In response, another reporter asked if the trio would form a new political group, her reply was cryptic, “I think that considering we have just made a major decision to quit a party we three helped build from nothing we need some time.”

Dondera was once considered a future leader of the Citizens’ Alliance, a mother of three and a successful public prosecutor from Peravia, she has strong support among Citizens at the state level and the grass roots. She is now finding herself to be the most prominent pro-EC voice in Etrurian politics. If the trio were to form a political group, it would likely find swift growth, aided by the skills of Rosa Tornatore and Giorgio Amadeo Trivulzio, the latter being a well praised writer and articulator of what he describes as “Etruria’s manifest Euclean destiny.”

Rosa Tornatore was a popular television personality prior to entering politics in the 2013 federal election. She worked as a political pundit on ReppublicaTV for a decade and went on to become one of the more capable activists and campaigners for the Citizens. She reportedly boasts personal ties to a number of wealthy donors who proved lucrative for the Citizens in 2016, when they surged to second place behind the Tribunes. Should the trio form a political party, she may well call upon those donors once more.

All three have expressed the belief that Etruria’s democratisation in 1984 after twenty-four years of military rule remains incomplete and ascension to the EC would mark its completion. They also believe that EC membership would mark the height of a post-Tribune future for Etruria.

Dondera said as much this morning, “look at Paretia, they’re going down the abyss and quickly. At least the Tribunes don’t arrest party leaders” she said with a laugh. “But look also at the EC’s response. They have seen what the Tribunes have done to our democracy and will not tolerate such backsliding inside its borders. When the Tribunes are evicted from power and sent into the fringe, which will happen, our joining the EC will guarantee our democracy’s survival and protection. I believe this truly.”

With the departure of the three, the Citizens' Alliance now has 28 seats in the Chamber of Representatives.
