Granted the whole "guns in space" idea never really took off IRL due to various issues with budget or "moral" dilemmas ("guns are bad!" so on) along with the outer space treaty... And complex engineering that would be overcome had it not been for politicians screeching about weapons in orbit.

Heck, they even use batteries, in place of a SMR, given an SMR would be one fat chonker to carry and would kill any carry capacity for other things.
