Pax Polaris Occidens

The West Pacific is proud to announce the start of an alliance with The North Pacific and The Pacific with the signing of the Pax Polaris Occidens treaty!

This treaty follows from the joint statement made last month and is the result of much work from all governments, so TWP thanks all who contributed to make it possible. Our region appreciates that our allies in TNP and NPO are also willing to unite their efforts in protecting all of the three regions' friends and allies, able to join our forces and be independent from having to rely on others.

Furthermore, we look forward to working with TNP and NPO in the affairs delineated in the treaty, even to activate the mutual defense clause if the need arises. Pax Polaris Occidens, after all, is a result of the friendly relationship between all three regions and we all hope to further develop this close relationship in the future.

New Minister of Foreign Affairs!

Our Minister of FA Dilber has unfortunately stepped down from the position of Minister of FA due to his real life schedule becoming really busy. Dilber has done a lot of work ever since he accepted my offer to return to the position in April, so I'd firstly like to thank him! He's done a magnificent job during these turbulent gameplay times in ensuring our foreign affairs goals are achieved, such as the Statement On Continued Interregional Peace and Pax Polaris Occidens. But not only that, he's really helped and advised me on other things related to the region too, which I am also thankful for, and glad that he will be able to remain as a Cabinet advisor.

Now, for the second part of the announcement: TWP is a meritocracy, meaning that one gets rewarded for the effort put into the game, and imposing a need for upwards mobility so that new talent is able to rise and become the leaders of tomorrow. The next MoFA is one that has served in the Deputy Minister of FA position for nearly two years, dating back to the last election in which deputies were elected. He's done a really good job in the position, creating many newer ties with various regions, and helped TWP to build its vast diplomatic network it has today. Please congratulate Varanius for becoming the new Minister of FA and newest Cabinet member!

Genuinely though, as much as I would've liked to have them all out and proud, as it were, we try to keep large images to a minimum in the paper as they sometimes wreak havoc on formatting and flow, not to mention they increase load times (in my experience having them behind spoilers helps at least a bit with that). That's why in this case, and in past issues with lots of images or large blocks of quoted text, you'll see them spoilered while the normal single page comic for Comic Alley is not spoilered. At the same time, we're always looking to experiment with formatting to try and get around these issues—I'm particularly pleased with what we did Comic Alley in the June issue!

Granted in hindsight, maybe I just like spoilers too much :P

Hail Dilber! Hail Vara! I'm super excited to see Vara succeed as our new MoFA—he was the obvious and correct choice and I know he'll do us proud! I'm also excited to harangue Vara on his new responsibilities in Cabinet! :D

A separate shoutout to Vara for his excellent article in this month's TWPost issue: "Passing a Commendation: A Look Behind the Curtain". As someone who generally avoids FA, it was very interesting to see the interplay between diplomacy and the SC and how he played our cards to help get the commendation passed. And who doesn't love a good redaction?
