[DRAFT] Commend Fauxia

Postby Clever Homo Sapiens » Tue Jun 21, 2022 12:34 pm

This is my second SC draft. I think I'll focus on this one for now, due to the very mixed reaction to my other draft, Commend Tinhampton. As always, all feedback is welcome!

Current Draft:
The Security Council,

Recognizing that the world is replete with social and economic diseases and sunlight is, indeed, the best disinfectant,

Forever thankful to those who shine a light onto these imperfections through their journalistic endeavors,

Noting that Fauxian journalists are among the world’s best and most active in that regard, bringing a dozen controversies of national concern to the forefront of both citizens and their leaders’ agendas through rigorous reporting, including:

  • Families separated by immigration bans via On the Fence,

  • The diplomatic consequences of a foreign political leader refusing to shake hands with the political leader of one’s own nation via Clasp of Controversy,

  • Homework and its potentially negative impact on impoverished children via Your Assignment, Should You Choose to Accept It,

  • The difficulty and fairness of citizenship exams via Ask A Stupid Question?

  • Paid protest and the ethics thereof via (A Lot Of) Pennies for Your Thoughts, and

  • Famine in a nation not ideologically aligned with one’s own, and what the latter can do for the former via Weather Report: It's Not Graining In East Lebatuck

Grateful that Fauxia’s World Assembly delegation has also contributed to this august body, authoring SC #308 “Commend Candensia”, recognizing a similarly journalistically accomplished nation and fellow SC resolution author Candensia, and co-authoring SC #355 “Repeal: ‘Condemn The Pacific’”, repealing a flawed and overly weak condemnation due to its inaccuracies and reforms within the New Pacific Order, and

Believing that the world is a signifigantly better place because of Fauxia’s contributions,

Hereby,
Commends Fauxia

Nice draft you've got there, but I don't think you listed enough contributions to make the nominee commendable. I've never heard of Fauxia, so I can't tell you whether or not there is room for improvement.

Please stop spewing out drafts faster than Tin. They aren't good despite what the Orwell Society will say, (who supports every proposal that has lists, and is generally against anything that doesn't) and stop trying to just write easy c/c's based on resolutions.

A proposal needs more than just issues and a few resolutions. It needs to show how these players have contributed to the community or play, and why they should get recognition for it. This does neither.

As someone who knows Fauxia, I must say that I have a personal bias in this. Though I do really like them a lot, I'm not entirely sure myself that they're necessarily commendable just yet (especially if the recent one for Baggieland hasn't even gotten to vote twice now). Then again, I'd hardly find myself commendable. :P

This is incredibly critical commentary from someone who's never passed a proposal.

Your proposal has a good nominee but needs work. My personal advice would be elaborating on why particular issues they wrote are interesting or commendable, and covering their time in TRR, where they served probably more than 1, but at least 1 officer term.

This is not a poor draft. It's a first draft, and it is not a bad attempt, so I don't see why you're being so harsh. Jealousy?

Support in principle, though this seems way too similar to Commend Candensia in terms of structure. Maybe you could try making it a bit more unique in that way? You should listen to Minskiev and include some TRR stuff (he's also a defender with TGW). Also, has Fauxia agreed to this?

While this is fairly well written for a first draft, to me it doesn’t make a compelling case for Commendation. Certainly needs more research into the candidate and their achievements.

The point Saint Tomas made about checking if Fauxia wants this should not be ignored - the convention being C&Cs should not be attempted without a nominee’s permission.

Concur here. I think Fauxia is more than commendable and something could definitely pass right now if the nominee wants it, it just needs some work done to beef it up. A very good start.

I remembered after I posted, but I couldn’t be arsed to change it. :)

Anyway, how do you expect a poor old man like me to keep track of peoples’ various identities?

OOC: I had no idea who Fauxia was up until seeing this, so bear with me  . It does seem that Fauxia is a commendable nominee, however more strengthening arguments need to be edited into the draft. Just authoring issues and SC resolutions, after all, is not convincing enough.

I don't support every proposal, and "lists" have nothing to do with it. For your information, I never said I supported this draft, I just said I appreciated the solid writing. This does not have enough relevent substance to gain my support, and like you said, a good commendation needs to show how the nominee has contributed to the NS community.

Generally, I support most well-written proposals on a preliminary read, and I may go back and inspect the proposal and others' arguments to further my stance. Please don't use me as an example to vent out your frustrations on this author, it is rather offensive to me. You may not care, but I do.

Support for the nominee, but as others have said the proposal needs substantial additions to justify itself.
