"Cobra 1-1, tower, radio check?"
"Tower, Cobra 1-1, loud and clear. Winds calm, temperature 26 degrees Celcius. Cobra 1 is clear for formation takeoff on Runway 09L."

A group of 4 F-16NDs Block 50++ and 52++, fully laden, begin accelerating in formation down the runway. They were fully laden with weapons, and also 2 drop tanks on their wings. 4 similar sorties were launched in total, though the final one are the twin-engined E-18G Growler aircraft. They had a heavy load on their wings, but very little fuel in their fuselages, just enough to get them to the refueling location over the Pacific Ocean.

"Welcome onboard, cowards. I'm your captain today. We will egress to refueling location and rendezvous with the refuelers and Eyes," once airborne and all requisite checks were done, the commander of the flight, Group Commander Delilah Yap broke radio silence with this announcement. As they overflew the Okinawa island chain, they were already at the cruise altitude of 32,000 feet.

Somewhere over the Pacific Ocean

The planes were refueled one-by-one, by the KC-135 Stratotankers in the air. They were the property of the Nacradian Air Force, only allowed to loiter there at the behest of Japan. A Boeing E-7A Wedgetail, callsign "Downwind", joins the party to provide AEW&C. Once the refuelers turned homewards, it was only the 17 aircraft in the air, with Downwind and Cobra 1 through Cobra 4. The flight set its course to a point just north of Tsushima Island, and there is little to do until then. Delilah's thoughts wander, replaying the briefing session just before, back to just after midnight, where they are on solid ground.

"So, pilots, here's the final plan. Cobra 1 and Cobra 2 will strike the Dalian shipyard and destroy the 004 in a dry dock - imagery indicates it to be slipway 7 - and the 2 075-class LHDs in slipways 8 and 9. Cobra 3 and 4 will strike Lushunkou Naval Base and wipe out the northern portion of the PLAN Northern Fleet. We believe that the Shandong is in port to prepare for deployment to the Saddle Islands."

She took notes attentively, which are now loaded onto a tablet mounted beside her right leg.

"Cobra 1 and 3, you will fly along this path and bifurcate here. Cobra 1 will carry the bombs and AA missiles, and Cobra 3, you will jam the shit out of the Chinese. For Cobra 2 and 4, same story but to Objective Bravo.

Memory fast forwards to loading out. There were many bombs and missiles to be loaded onto the planes, and it took the better part of the evening. Of course, the pilots weren't involved in the loading out, but they did inspect everything. Cobra 1 and 2 have similar loadouts, while Cobra 3 and Cobra 4 also do.

"Cobra, Downwind. unidentified aircraft BRA 183, 58, 17 thousand and climbing, flank right," Downwind finally calls out its first detection of the day, unidentified aircraft coming in to intercept them. By this time they shouldn't have entered Chinese airspace, so it must've been North Korean. Sure enough, Downwind makes a correction. "Cobra, downwind, 3 Fulcrum-D BRA 167, 56, 20 thousand and climbing, hot."

"Cobra, cleared to arm," she announces, "Turn 5 degrees left to exit." Her F-16 carried only bombs, with 2 sidewinders just in case. However, she is more concerned about fuel right now, as if the drop tanks are ditched now, an emergency diversion to South Korea would have to be considered. As the fulcrums close in quickly, though, it would seem that air-to-air combat is inevitable. "Cobras, combat spread."

"You have entered the airspace of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Exit now or we will take action!" The North Korean pilot announces, as they come in closer, now within 30 miles. "I'm getting locked on," said one Nacradian pilot on the radio, "They know we're not just lost."

"Cobra, clear to engage," she curses but makes this command. "I have a lock. Fox 2, engaging!" A callout comes from one of the F-16s, as an AIM-9 sidewinder drops from the rails and propels itself violently away. "Another one, right side, way up here," another turns and takes a violent turn upwards, declares Fox 2, and continues its turn back on course.

"Cobra, Downwind, picture is clear." With the Fulcrums removed from the equation before any missiles were fired, the massive group continues its combat spread across the Yellow Sea. "Cobra, Downwind, SAM signature on bearings 39, 130 and 229."

As the Growlers begin jamming, they discover SAM radar sites as well, trying to paint them but failing, until they locked on. "Smoke in the air!" Declared a pilot, and the flight spread around to pop chaff against that. HARM missiles fly towards these sites, which had showed up easily to the Growlers. PLA's J-15s, J-10s and even MiG-21s scramble to stop them, costing the flight an F-16 and 2 Growlers. Delilah is on the flight directed to the Lushunkou, the naval base. With the first wave of bandits removed, Delilah's weapons systems officer pointed the laser at PLAN Shandong, docked right there and being loaded. 2 500-pound bombs fall through the air, and in a few moments, they hit the ship itself and explode. At the same time, WCMDs released moments later also explode, killing personnel transporting items onto the carrier.

The Shandong was engulfed in flames, and begins taking on water. By the time that the flight has finished wreaking havoc on the Lushunkou docks, the Dalian has developed a list to the side rapidly despite pumps trying to fix the list. At the end, the Dalian, the two 075-class LHDs, and 4 destroyers were sunk or gravely damaged. At the same time, the Dalian shipyard, just 40 kilometers from this naval base, suffered bombing runs. They were under slightly less fire, probably because one of the planes dispatched to strike there were shot down. As they egress and fly quickly towards South Korea and safety, the 004-in-the-making, and 2 075-class ships under construction, were damaged with gantry cranes smashing through them, and their slipways flooded.

On egress, they were able to fly much faster and avoid North Korean airspace. After another refuel session, they returned to where they came, now to the sight of the morning rush hour.

AN ANNOUNCEMENT
To report about the Nacradian mission in the Dalian Naval Shipyard and the Lushunkou Naval Base

The Nacradian Air Force has conducted a bombing mission against the Dalian Shipyard and the Lushunkou Naval Base, both in Dalian. It is believed that we have severely damaged PLAN Shandong, and the 004-in-the-making. We justify this operation with their invasion of the Nacradian Saddle Islands. While we do not desire violence, their beligerent attitude regarding their irridentist claims on the islands have compelled us to take reprisary action.

We have given them ample chances to rectify their mistake of launching an invasion with ample warnings and more diplomatic avenues, however nevertheless we were given only two choices - to give up the Saddle Islands completely to the devices of Beijing, or keep fighting this arduous war - we chose the latter. The people on the Saddle Islands speak Hakka, the same language spoken not too far away from our home in Riverfort. Time and time again have they also demonstrated a favour to Nacrad, and their dislike to the Chinese. The Chinese sector of the islands, meanwhile, don't share the same fondness to their own regime.

President Xi, this is just the beginning. We will not surrender. We will not give up. We will strike at the time you least expect. Fear us - we are not a nation to push around.
