Great to see the bid from Ha'Yarok, though IC we will have plenty of concerns about the sportswashing! This isn't particularly a question, but more an endorsement of the idea of some anonymous RP bonus data being published. I've hosted with the user behind Ha'Yarok before using these systems, and I think it's a great way to increase transparency about how bonuses are awarded without any individual data being published.

I'll preface this by saying this is Sarzonia in my Esportiva puppet and not some random n00b. With that out of the way...

I vote a hard NO on any RP data being released, anonymously or otherwise. Farf releasing public RP bonus info during AOCAF 60 soured me on that notion forever.

While I don't want to speak for Ha'Yarok, as I said having hosted a tournament with him that included these sort of data previously (that you were involved in), there is nothing to suggest that he is planning on releasing the raw data. It's become fairly popular recently to publish summary data around RP bonuses while not doing when there are low RP numbers to avoid identification, and I'm thoroughly in favour of this.

Signups have been updated to this point. Neomaris has been added to the signups list on the basis that Lisander has participated in previous CEs and this could be seen as a successor state to that nation. It'll be up to the elected host as to whether they may participate, though, as the OP states that it's ultimately up to the elected host.

I might lift the restriction on "you have to be in the region at the time of signups opening" to allow more users to join in future editions. Would like to know everyone's thoughts on the matter, if any.

Zeta Reka i Hugeltaldom
Rekadom und Hügeltaldom

Format
The format will allow for either four or five nations in a group. Nations will have the opportunity to play each group opponent, with some advancing into the knockouts, which will be capped at a size of sixteen. The teams will be ranked by their group performances, with group winners given priority over runners-up. Second place sides will also be seeded ahead of third place sides if the later is included in a knockout stage. In addition, steps will be taken to ensure sides will not face each other in the first knockout round.
Group Stage
Entrants Groups Teams Advancing to Ro16
28 7 4 7 winners, 7 runners-up, 2 3rd place
30 6 5 6 winners, 6 runners-up, 4 3rd place
32 8 4 8 winners, 8 runners-up
35 7 5 7 winners, 7 runners-up, 2 3rd place

Ranking system
1: Points (3 per win, 1 per draw)
2: Head to head points
3: Head to head goal difference (if >2 teams tied)
4: Head to head goals (if >2 teams tied)
5: Goal difference
6: Goals scored
7: Games won
8: Coin flip (OOC: Scored game with results disclosed in the post)
Rekan Bracket
01 v 16
08 v 09
04 v 13
05 v 12
Hugeltalian Bracket
02 v 15
07 v 10
03 v 14
06 v 11

This could have been the knockout bracket last time using the group stage format from CE32:
Rekan Bracket
Natanians and Nosts (1) v Zeta Reka and Hugeltaldom (15)*
Nova Anglicanan Admin Zone (8) v South Newlandia (9)`
Ceyne Islands (4) v Robostania (13)`
Xanneria (5) v The Licentian Isles (11)^

Hugeltalian Bracket
Ethane (2) v Le Choix (16)*
Tumbra (7) v Esportivan Darmen (10)`
Brenecia (3) v Fhulghamous Peninsula (14)`
Burgburgh (6) v Hannasea (12)^

*Le Choix & ZRH moved to avoid rematches.
^The Licentian Isles moved to avoid a rematch.

Venues
Zeta Reka has more than enough venues for a competition of CE33's size. Having all stadiums in one nation will allow for a simplified experience and format. A maximum of twelve stadiums will be used. Groups will be split into two halves, one will play their games in Zeta Reka, while another will spend their group stage in Hugeltaldom. Knockouts will take place all across the country, and the final will take place in the capital city at the National Sports Complex.

Culture
"Rekan people can sometimes be seen as stoic, traditionalist, hard to please, and sometimes confrontational. They tend to be cautious in decision making, unless provoked by questions of honor. Another side of Zeta Reka exists that is carefree out of nowhere, and secretly very permissive. While Zeta Reka does not consider itself oppressive, an outsider may find the place to have some cultural norms which need to be followed. Some minority groups are not culturally accepted in parts the nation. While one may be intimidated to visit, the Federal Government, Football Association, and various groups publicly committed to protect travelers at all costs. The federal government cannot protect one from scowls however. Experts advise speaking more English and less of the local languages if you have a strong accent. Ethnic tensions have spilled over into conflict before."
~Federal Football Federation of Zeta Reka & Hugeltaldom, adapted from the official bid for RTC U-18 World Cup 13
OOC information
Matches will be scored using the non controversial NSFS scoring system on xkoranate using additive bonuses. RP information such as venues & times will be given before the first game just like any other major league event. In addition, RP prompts will be given to encourage RPs by giving players a starting point. Scorinations will take place every other day, ensuring maximum time for busy players. This is not a double match day format and each game will be separately scored.

Thanks to all Esportivans for reading this proposal. I will answer all questions. I also want to wish our competing bid (and all teams) the best of luck in CE33!

GOOD point from my wife, typically I would lean towards not including a puppet from someone who's never competed in a CE before anyway. I don't know that there's formal rules on that, just my preference.

ZRH's bid is excellent though, I enjoyed the U18WC they hosted and have full confidence in them as host, so my judgement on that may be moot.

It's been 5 days since the first bid was posted, so it's time for a vote. All nations signed up (excluding puppets and those bidding) may submit one vote to the nation Montego- listing their preferences, in order.

The options are, listed in order of when their bids were posted to the thread:

1. Ha'Yarok
2. Zeta Reka and Hügeltaldom
3. Re-open nominations

A user may also officially abstain. Voting is open for the next 72 hours. Signups remain open.

Hi!

Sorry for being radio silent. Some personal things came up over the weekend. While my Saturday didn't go as planned, CE 33 will without any more funny delays. We should begin soon, but the number of entrants isn't quite right just yet. We can have a thirty team event, but then someone would have to go. We are soooo close to thirty two sign ups and I'd love to see one more nation join. I will not get greedy and push for thirty five, but I won't complain if the floodgates open up. If we have thirty two nations then we'll that's one less match. The event will be fairly quick with groups of five, so it's not a big different from my vantage point.

Best of luck to everyone involved! Don't CTE on us either because that would be a pity :ugeek:

There should be.

I've been thinking about my suite of nations lately, and I'm not sure whether Esportiva will be Conchord's long-term home, so I'd like to withdraw my entry in favor of Cap Nord. This has nothing to do with Zeta, who I'm sure will be an excellent host, and everything to do with making sure that Esportivan nations get to compete in an Esportivan tournament.

Hello.

I am now prepared to begin the tournament! You've been patient, and for that you all have a lot of gratitude (even if my thanks be shown some of you with you going 0-0-3). The CE33 thread is now live, and I've added the schedule. Our draw is in a few days, and game cutoffs will be bi-daily. Additional IC information will be coming soon.

Best of luck!
