The club were relegated from Ligue 1 this season

For a club with quite a bit of history and has won a French league title in 2009, that's quite a shame. St. Etienne also got relegated and they have quite a lot of history in French football.

I'm hoping this will finally be the year we end our football league exile. The prospect of a new Kop stand by start of next season, to make us a 4 sided ground again, heavy investment from Hollywood owners and keeping the majority of our squad has given me some hope. However the disappointment of play offs and the previous 15 years of torture still weigh heavy. Trying not to get too ahead of myself but surely this must be our year!

I was very surprised when he went to Brighton in the first place but I’m fairly sure they should find a decent replacement.
There does seem to be a shortage of high quality left backs right now.

Haven’t they rejected a £30,000,000 offer from City?

Since they seem to be ubiquitous: Has UEFA commissioned rainbow captain's armbands for the Women's EUROs or is this an independent, player-led initiative? I remember the official UEFA armband being dark blue with a "RESPECT - NO TO RACISM" label, although many captains at last year's EUROs wore (unmarked) rainbow armbands after UEFA denied a request to light up the Allianz Arena in rainbow colours before Germany vs Hungary.

I can keep it going, but no guarantee that NSG gives a crap.

Before there was the Football Thread, there was the Ultimate Football/Soccer Thread, which was maintained by a lot of people and had a new thread for every (August-May) season until you acquired it from Minoa a couple of years back and kept it rolling on a permanent, non-season-specific basis. No disrespect but I've largely avoided it for that particularly technical reason :P

What does everyone think about Spurs’ chances this season after a productive transfer window? As a Spurs fan, I’m excited for the new season.

As long as Outer Sparta can keep it running, I see no problem with this thread running to page 500. I also declare that I am also interested to see how Chelsea performs in the post-Roman Abramovich era and around 2½ months of operational restrictions due to sanctions against Abramovich.

I can just specify the season (right now is the 2022 off-season but soon the regular season starts).

England Women’s are through to the Euro 2022 final after beating Sweden 4-0. They will face Germany or France in the final. I think England has a chance of winning the trophy, but I do not think it is a certainty yet. Looking at the quarter final records:

1. England had to wait until extra time to beat Spain 2-1.
2. France also had to wait until extra time to beat the Netherlands 1-0.
3. Germany beat Austria 2-0 without requiring extra time.

The result of Germany vs. France will also be another variable. EXTRA: Germany beat France 2-1, so it is still a close contest.

England actually won Euro 2022 with a golden goal: 2-1 against Germany.
