We Can Be Heroes (A Superhuman RP): OOC/OPEN

Postby Imperatuis » Sat Jun 11, 2022 9:49 am

In 1939 The German Reich started a secret program known as Operation Pure Blood. Their top scientists, through the work of genetic manipulations and secret formulas, managed to create the first superhuman, also known as the Iron Eagle. With his help Germany managed to topple France and most of continental Europe by the summer of '43. And for 2 years the Nazi held a firm grip with Iron Eagle keeping any notion of over throwing Germany just a dream. The Allies knew they had to answer the superhuman Nazi with one of their own. So in early 1945, Allies special forces managed to capture the top scientist who had work with the Nazi to create Iron Eagle, Dr. Erik Schwartz. With the promise that all crimes against humanity would be swept under the rug, Doctor Schwartz agreed to help the Allies. But not with one superhero, a total of 5 had been created collectively from their prospective country the US, UK, France, USSR, and China together they were known as The League.

Through their battle was fierce and almost leveled Berlin in the process the League managed to put down Iron Eagle and The Reich itself shortly after. After the war the Heroes went back to their respective country. Although Erik knew that his work would have been used in the same way as Germany he thought to level the playing field so to speak, he released the formula he used into the water supply in several cities across the world. Heroes around the world came into existence in a short time there after, but then so did the villains. Many of the world government kept secret on how that was possible erasing everything that had to do with Erik Schwartz and his experiments.

Decades passed and many heroes either fall in line with their governments. 'License to Save' is one such measure to keep the heroes in line at least with government, unlicensed heroes are considered vigilantes and are breaking the law. Another are corporate sponsors with the largest being Respo Inc. many rich heroes as saddling up with sponsors to peddling whatever company wants, to use their name to bring in more money with the hero themselves as a celebrity.

Gone are the days when heroes sacrificed themselves for the greater good, and now are the times when corporations and government overreach are the norm. Though there are those who still hold to the idea of being a hero but they are few and far in-between. But maybe with enough noise and fight the powers that be will listen.

There are 3 main factions of heroes today
The League: The government sponsored heroes, it is also the largest body of heroes in the world
The Corps: Not the actual name but these are heroes sponsor by corporations, they are basically walking advertisements the largest being Respo Inc.
Vigilantes : Those not belonging to the other 2, they are technically illegal in many parts of the world but would you try and stop a hero?

Rules:
OP and CO-OPs have the final say on any disagreements
NO OP Powers: Reality Wrapping is Forbidden, Time Travel is forbidden, Being Invulnerable is forbidden. This list isn't final and can change at OP's or CO-OP's discretion.
Original Heroes only, no Marvel or DC etc. Heroes can have similarities to those universe but please try to be as original as possible
Try and be active, understandable that life take precedent but don't apply to this RP and then ghost it, if you need to drop out or be put on hold let one of us know!
Have Fun! This isn't meant be to a totally serious RP, though there will be moments of seriousness.

Anyway, I'm working on an app. A guy in the Corps with powers you don't normally see on the battlefield. But who knows?

Have you thought about advertising this in the RP advertisement thread?

How will villains work here? Are we not allowed to have characters who are villains?

Most villains are background characters at least NPC to heroes. Most of the conflict will happen between the 3 factions. The League are basically law and order. Corps are social influencers/celebrities type heroes. And vigilantes are you know vigilantes. But I'll allow a few villains in

Alright thank you. In that case, I'll put up a vigilante app

Name: Christian Cameron
Alias: Titan
Age: 36
Appearance:
Image

Powers:
  • Shrink Target - With the wave of his hand, Christian can shrink a person or object 98% of his height, meaning a person 6 ft. becomes about 1 inch. Christian has to be within 50 yards to do this. Christian can shrink multiple targets at once - up to about 10. When targets are shrunk, their weight (and relative strength) also shrinks proportionately. That means a 1 inch person who was shrunk can now be easily picked up, stepped on, etc. The duration for the shrinkage is as long as Christian wills it, up to an hour for a living being and perhaps permanently for a non-living target. Christian doesn't really know. While he did once shrink a friend's wallet for about a week as a joke, Christian normally realizes it's a jerk move and doesn't do that unless there's a greater need (as loosely defined as Christian makes that). If Christian is knocked unconscious, the shrinking reverses.
  • As a subset of this power, Christian can also shrink part of an object, such as a hand, a leg, the eyes, a tire, etc., at the same distance, in the same manner and with the same limitations. This can lead to a lot of complications for the target (e.g., an enemy in combat has hands too small to hold his gun and fire, a getaway car with a shrunk rear tire quickly veers to the left into oncoming traffic, etc.)
  • Weight Manipulation - Christian can also make the weight of a target decrease - or increase - without affecting its size. He can increase a person's weight up to about 10 times the normal amount, and can decrease it about 125%. In the past, Christian has usually put this power into use in order to flatter a prospective date, making her weigh less on a scale (sort of thing). While he could make deli meats cheaper, that kind of action is beneath him.
  • Enhanced Charisma - Christian is one charming guy. Men respect him. Women always react positively to him - sometimes swooning over him. He knows just the right word to say, just the right touch, to skate through contract negotiations and always seem to come out on top. He doesn't realize he's doing it, or that it's even a power. Just thought he was that kind of guy and anyone else could do it if they only would.
  • Peak Human Dexterity - Christian is athletic, and can control his muscles well. He'd be the kind to cartwheel through a laser security system, or land on his feet if knocked over a wall. This doesn't mean he can dodge attacks against him completely. But he might be nimble enough to sidestep a punch or three, or reach in and grab something on an opponent while fighting him.

Personality: Christian is all charm. The right touch of flattery, humor, forthrightness, intelligence, sex appeal and nerve - mixed with his enhanced charisma - makes Christian a persuasive force to be reckoned with.
Appearance:
Image

Bio: Some heroes find their powers manifesting after a tragic accident. Others develop it after some kind of trauma. For Christian Cameron, he didn't notice its onset. One day, he just felt like waving his hand outside in his backyard, and what do you know? The tree shrunk to 3/4 of its size. The next day, he felt a similar urge to increase and decrease weights he was lifting. To a pleasant surprise, he was able to max out that day without having to be stronger. How it happened and where it comes from remains an unexplained mystery - and one Christian doesn't really care about learning, to be honest.

Born in Kansas City, Christian grew up without any real struggle in his life. Some of it came from well-to-do parents who could get Christian whatever he was interested in. Some of it came from Christian always being able to smile his way through any conflict, get good grades by convincing his teachers to let him slide, and just skate by in life without really applying himself. He was unaware this was what researchers would classify as a super power. To him, this was just as natural as breathing.

Frustrated at their son's lack of motivation, his parents cut him off from his money and forced him to get a job. Not having learned anything really in college and having dropped out after around 3 semesters, Christian bit the proverbial bullet and realized he had to make a living since studying was never really his thing. And that's how he landed in the Corps.

Christian Cameron was the perfect find for certain companies wanting superheroes in their ad campaigns. The perfect spokesman for the computer company Microdot, Christian was not only the definition of a charmer. He had it all - good looks, humor, success - and was in need of a job. They saw in him an ideal salesman. Not only could he sell ice to an Eskimo. His ability to shrink things made a great ad series devoted to how Microdot could bring out the newest phones, computers and tech made slimmer and smaller. Microdot saw in him their next marketing campaign. As for Christian, since he had picked up few skills in life due to his remarkable ability to skate by on his charm, Christian was in need of money and applied around. It was a match made in heaven - and one that the somewhat irresponsible Christian Cameron could suffer to bring some bucks in.

A few things:
Your math is a bit off a 6ft person would be shrunk down to I think about a 1ft and a half. 6ft to an inch is about 98%.

Also if somebody escapes him do they stay shrunk forever?

Thanks for the help on the math! I was trying to figure that out and I couldn't. I'll change.

Right now, Christian wouldn't know how long the shrunken thing lasts. But that's because he's never let it go. Turns out, with non-living things, it can stay shrunk forever. With living people, it only lasts like an hour or so. But he doesn't know that yet. I can put that in as well, just to give some limits to it.

What do you think of the power set though? Not your typical hero powers.

Name: Kairo Man

Alias: Ares

Age: 20

Appearance:
Image

Powers:

Psychic constructs: Kairo has the ability to form small structures and weapons using his psychic powers. He cannot create guns. Examples of weapons include swords, axes, hammers, and chains. For structures, he can create spikes, walls, and shields. The durability of these objects is equal to their real world equivalent.

Telepathy Kairo is able to read minds and subtly manipulate the minds of ordinary people. He mainly uses this power to aid in his crime fighting.

Telekinesis: Kairo can lift objects up to the size of a car.

Flight: Kairo can use his psychic power to fly for short durations of time. He mainly levitates.

Super speed/reflexes: The final weapon in Kairo's arsenal is the temporary acceleration of his speed and reflexes. By using telekinesis on himself, Kairo can enhance his speed to that of 30

Personality: Despite his hero name, Kairo is a relaxed guy. He does not take pleasure in causing harm to the thugs he fights. He prefers peaceful means to end conflict but will not hesitate to fight if it gets to that point. Besides that, Kairo is your average college student. Sort of nerdy, into metal music, and a big fan of The League.

Bio: Kairo grew up in a middle class home in Atlanta, Georgia. He was always a fan of The League. Throughout his elementary and middle school years, Kairo was a bif fan of The League. He spent his time admiring the various heroes and wishing he had powers of his own. This wish eventually came true a few years later, when Kairo was a freshmen in high school. After developing a crush on a cute girl in his class, Kairo found he was able to read her mind. Ecstatic, he decided to pursue her, but eventually backed off when he read her mind and saw she wasn't into him. Devastated, Kairo decided to ignore his psychic powers. However, this didn't last long. A year later, he witnessed a mugging while walking home from school. It was here that he realized his powers went beyond telepathy. Kairo was able to use telekinesis to subdue the mugger until the victim ran away. In the years since, he started developing his psychic powers. While he is currently a student at Georgia Tech, Kairo always admired The League. This admiration led to him deciding to be a vigilante in his free time.

I'll allow it.

Great! That established; here’s an app for a variant of my character from another RP’s universe.

Name: Nightwolf
Alias: Mark West
Age: 29
Appearance:

Image

Image

Powers:

Armor: The suit’s titanium alloy can protect Nightwolf from just about any impact. Anything thrown, shot or dropped on him won’t hurt him.

Stealth/Agility: The suit has a built-in exo-skeleton, which when combined with the suit’s jumping boots, allow Nightwolf to be very agile. The legs also have a system which can help him run faster, up to 30mph.

Weaponry: The suit’s main weapons are two swords, holstered on it’s back, and retractable claws. Both are made of a tungsten alloy.

Heads up Display: This allows for night vision, GPS navigating, communications, and it can play music.

Personality: Mark is usually a quiet person. He rarely gets mad unless he’s provoked. He does enjoy being around people though. When he’s with his friends and family, he’s more outgoing.

Bio: Mark West was born into an ordinary family in a suburb of Seattle, Washington, and from an early age demonstrated a knack for building gadgets. He loved watching superhero movies, especially Batman. His other interest was dogs, especially wolves. His parents divorced when he was 16, and this had a profound effect on Mark. With his family life ripped apart, he focused on his studies. This allowed him to graduate high school as the valedictorian of his class.

He went off to college in New York on a scholarship. It was there where he met his future fiancee, Lindsay Lyles. They met in a shared class, and began dating by the next semester. After graduating, he worked at a company that supplied manufacturers with parts and materials. Bored with this, he decided to start his own company, a massive risk for a young man just out of college. But, his gamble worked. West Enterprises was formed alongside his two friends from college, who had family money. They all moved to the Pacific Northwest to be closer to the burgeoning tech sector there.

In 2017, a number of things happened that spurred Mark to become a vigilante. First, a friend of his was killed, and the killer never caught. Second, a superhero had just been involved in a very public scandal. And lastly, Mark had just finished a prototype power suit for a research project. Rather than show off his invention, he decided to create his own weaponized armor suit to serve as a vigilante. The Mk. I suit was bulky, badly armored, and the helmet was a military helmet with a bulky night vision set sticking out. Still Mark's face was covered. One night, however, the night vision goggles fell off, and Mark's face was visible. At the moment he was in a fight inside a store, so he used the first thing he saw: the helmet from a wolf costume. And so, the Nightwolf was born. By the Mk. II, Mark had added claws, and a better, more protective, more wolf-looking helmet.

By 2022, Mark's Nightwolf 3.0 suit is his best suit yet, he is engaged to Lindsay, and West Enterprises has made him rich. But he hasn’t forgotten his humble origins, and still fights for the little guy, in a world where only corporations and government interests are being served by superheroes.

Also, can we do two characters?

Thanks for the help on the math! I was trying to figure that out and I couldn't. I'll change.

Right now, Christian wouldn't know how long the shrunken thing lasts. But that's because he's never let it go. Turns out, with non-living things, it can stay shrunk forever. With living people, it only lasts like an hour or so. But he doesn't know that yet. I can put that in as well, just to give some limits to it.

What do you think of the power set though? Not your typical hero powers.

Its different, but I see that as a good thing. But he's accepted with the limits
Asardia wrote:Name: Kairo Man

Alias: Ares

Age: 20

Appearance:

Great! That established; here’s an app for a variant of my character from another RP’s universe.

Name: Nightwolf
Alias: Mark West
Age: 29
Appearance:
