Cabo Azure National Football Team "Las Maçaricas"

After their brief brush with hope for qualifying to the World Cup was summarily ended by Vilita, the Maçaricas returned to Cabo Azure with heads held high, having come further in their third World Cup cycle than in either of their previous attempts. Throughout qualifying, the young stars for Cabo Azure have come into their own and begun to produce, leaving Paulinho with an embarrassment of riches at positions like forward, though still lacking in holding midfielders and centerbacks. The current Maçaricas roster reflects the results of numerous experiments throughout qualifying, to produce the best possible 23 going forward.

Though a few domestically-based players remain in the roster, the core of this team plays abroad, in other parts of Rushmore and further afield. Nicodemo Corte-Real leveraged his stunning success with Corn Palace in Sanford into a starting job on the national team and has earned his keep throughout qualifying, both by banging in goals and setting up his teammates. His usual partner in crime is team captain Cleto Silveira, who reliably slides past defenders and occasionally finds the goal himself.

The midfield is decidedly thinner with the retirement of the old guard, including Abilio Serra and Quirino Alves, but the usual starting three of Narciso Maciel, Marciano Ferreira, and Seth Rathbone holds it down. The depth is, again, lacking, though young Marco Lobo can be counted on for a good defensive shift if one is required.

The defense slots in between the forwards and midfield in terms of depth; the starting four at the back are very, very good, and while there is a drop from the first to second string, the backups can hold their own. Of particular interest is right back Amilcar Branco, whose fewer goals in WC 91 compared to previous efforts are more easily chalked up to changes in tactics than a lack of skill or aggression. Deodato Medeiro and Adao Moniz are staunch, while the Brandao brothers are serviceable but unimpressive backups at centerback. Ademar de Lima makes a tidy left-back, probably the best domestically-based player on the team, and he and Branco are backed by the always-game Marcelinho Costa.

Keeper-wise, Ambrosio Gomez is a clear number one, though Rufino Antunes has played between the sticks in the past.

The Gaffer
An amiable, always-smiling man now in his seventies who's been in Azurean football as long as anyone can remember, Paulinho has helmed the Maçaricas since their debut in the seventy-sixth Baptism of Fire. Despite his age, Paulinho has deftly managed the Azurean national team to hitherto unforeseen heights, and it remains a subject of popular debate whether he will get sacked or retire of his own volition first. Neither seems likely at this point.

Goalkeepers
GK-Ambrosio Gomez-21-Olympic Thessia (MYT)
The nascent starting goalkeeper, Gomez has come into his own since moving to Mytanija. Tall, athletic, and with a developing sense of position and presence on the pitch, Gomez looks to be a fixture of this team for years to come.

GK-Rufino Antunes-31-Lagostim
Previously a stopgap starter, Antunes remains a serviceable backup as he is tested week in and week out by the best strikers in the aggressive, physical Liga Hidalgo Primer.

GK-Gilberto Valente-27-Portelo
Lithe and quick, but prone to overcommitting. Has the physical tools to start, but his decision-making continues to hold him back even as he is no longer a young player.

Defenders
RB-Amilcar Branco-25-Dhun Lagarr FC (TKT)
The Maçaricas’ undisputed starting right back, and one of its best players. A pacy fullback with the speed and skill to contribute on offense.

LB-Ademar de Lima-23-Sao Vicente
Originally a carbon copy of Branco, the left back de jure has evolved into more of a stay-at-home fullback than his counterpart, though he is no slouch going forward.

FB-Marcelinho Costa-24-Regium Immortum (OAM)
Though he lacks the panache of his peers, years of fierce competition in Oberour Ar Moro has sculpted Costa into a tough-tackling, canny fullback who makes smart passes up field and terrorizes attackers in his own third.

FB-Norberto Carneiro-29-Villa Silva
Like Costa, a good fullback who simply does not live up to the level of de Lima and Branco. A touch slower than his peers and unlikely to get faster, Carneiro is nevertheless one of the best fullbacks in the LHP and always puts in a shift when called upon.

CB-Adão Moniz-24-Reschensreppur (GRF)
An agile, harrying centerback making his way in a league dominated by “Big F*cking Grantfjallers”, Moniz has found some consistency in the previous season that may see him become a bigger factor for the Maçaricas.

CB-Deodato Medeiro-25-Marine Coast United (VIL)
Despite not having the size or bruising physique that Azureans generally prefer in their centerbacks, Medeiro has exceeded all expectations playing in the top flight of Villita, finding himself in conversation for end-of-season awards. A locked-in starter.

CB-Kevin Brandão-27-Villa Arboles
The proverbial last domestic centerback standing, Kevin is a consistent presence in front of goal, though he is notably weak in set pieces on both sides of the ball. Will likely see some minutes in relief, particularly in defensive situations.

CB-Donato Brandão-22-SC Lagos (BOL)
More skilful than his brother, but with none of the size or physicality, Donato is nevertheless a similarly situational sub who, despite playing abroad, has failed to live up to the high standards set by Medeiro and Moniz.

Midfield
CM-Narciso Maciel-23-Colonial Sile (VIL)
Along with Medeiro, one of two young Azurean players to take root in the Vilitan top tier. A composed, intelligent player with great distribution and off-ball movement. A true general to anchor the midfield.

LM-Marciano Ferreira-28-Sao Cristobal
Still among the fastest players on the pitch, Ferreira’s ball control and distribution have not developed the way many hoped, possibly because of his situation at Sao Cristobal, where he is expected to be the one to get the ball into the box on almost every possession.

RM-Seth Rathbone-20-Portelo
Playing with a notable chip on his shoulder after being snubbed repeatedly by overseas clubs, Rathbone has returned to Portelo on yet another yearlong contract after establishing himself as an every-game starter.

CM-Marco Lobo-22-Villa Silva
A U21 standout, Lobo is an established starter at one of the most sophisticated clubs in Cabo Azure. During qualifying, established himself as the best holding mid on the team, a definite position of need, and cemented his future with the national team.

MF-Lucas Barbosa-28-Natal
Fast, alert, and equally capable with both feet, Barbosa is the kind of guy who looked like a future star coming up but ultimately fell short of his potential. Still can slot in anywhere in the midfield and put in a shift, so likely to see the field.

AM-Bento Cunha-22-Perolas
A fast, aggressive attacker who has yet to develop beyond his physical gift but lacks the finishing to be a target forward, or really any kind of forward. An electric presence off the bench and a wizard at getting fouled, though, so will likely see play time in offensively needy situations.

Forwards
FW-Cleto Silveira-25-Vantanoch FC (TKT) (C)
A hardworking, clever player who does many things well, Silveira has quietly grown into one of the best players on the roster, and a must-start for games that need to be won.

FW-Vasco Gouveia-22-Tikariot City FC (TKT)
One-half of Os Dos Vascos, thought to be the future of the Azurean attack, Gouveia faces criticism that his statistics are padded by meaningless games, but none can deny his ability to score goals at a high level.

FW-Vasco Cardoso-19-Whitepill (EUR)
After plying his trade two years in the Euran second tier, Cardoso has come into his won as a force for the national team. Lacking the size and physicality of Corte-Real, the killer instinct of Gouveia, and the creativity of Silveira, the second of “Os Dos Vascos” is nevertheless a critical component of the Maçaricas’ attack.

FW-Nicodemo Corte-Real-20-Corn Palace (SFD)
Probably the biggest surprise of the international era of Azurean football, Corte-Real has emerged as a star in Sanford, leading Corn Palace to their second championship there. How he fits into the national team remains to be seen.

RW-Estavao Fonseca-21-Carathyr Emeralds (TKT)
A young Azurean who went abroad to Tikariot at the same time as Gouveia, Silveira, and Branco, but remained uncapped until WCQ 91. A quick winger with the ability to invert.

OOC note: I was recently made aware that Gnejs signed up and played in the qualifications for the WC34 back in 2007. I had no recollection of this whatsoever, but with some helpful links from Audioslavia (thanks!) I was able to go back and see what happened all those years ago. The results from back then are briefly referenced in this RP. Present time in Gnejs is 2022, whereas here the WCQ34 happens in 1980. That probably doesn’t make much sense in terms of time. Gnejs also played in the WCQ72 in 2015, but I’m referring fleetingly to that campaign as having taken place right after the cycle in 1980, which of course makes even less sense. Especially since I’m pretty sure I listed a few of the same players and coach in my roster in 2015 as in the current one (WCQ91 and CoH83), but please ignore that. I’m doing a retcon of Gnejsian international football history, and I’m leaving out the “34” and the “72” to keep it all vague, the point being that Gnejs canonically has tried its hands on WC football twice in the past – with little luck – before this current era.

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4

Part 5: Professional football

It turned out coaching amateur football and professional football was quite different. While he counted all the Raven players his friends, his new position was more of a job and the players something more like colleagues. In such an analogy, the coach was surely the boss and the players the employees, of course, but the junior assistant coach with zero professional experience didn’t fit in on the top of that kind of hierarchy, but rather slightly below pretty much anyone else on staff. He didn’t mind though, everything was too overwhelming to care about such things.

Really, calling it ‘more of a job’ is an understatement, because it actually was a job. His first ever job, no less. Again, he was baffled over how he had never reflected on something as basic as being employed in some fashion before. It was the washing machine all over again. All of his friends had worked summers when he grew up, and Harald had his part-time gig at the factory with the rest of The Ravens. He had always been a modest person though, so he figured that maybe the reason was a lack of need for extra income. As long as he had a roof over his head, some sort of sustenance and a library card, he was content. This was all contingent on having a place to live for free though, and dropping out meant he had to give up his free of charge student accommodation. Suddenly, he had to pay for his home, and this contributed to another set of revelations. Firstly, paying rent was expensive and made the money go away so much quicker than he was used to. Secondly, while he prided himself on being such a modest individual, it turned out he actually had quite a few indulgences that now became unsustainable, like paying for having all his clothes washed three times a month. Thirdly, a junior assistant coach with zero experience doesn’t make a lot, making the first two revelations all the more dire. He found a crummy apartment on the south side of Finntorp and made some lifestyle adjustments. Life became a little more grey, but he spent most of his time at the club and had little time to think of such trivial things. He did see Harald on occasions, but other than that, he yet again pretty much cut ties with his “old life”.

He had envisioned being more or less in charge of the team from the get-go, but in the beginning he was stuck with menial tasks, which was frustrating. However, he also got to spend time observing Matilda Winger, the head coach. He studied how she planned training sessions and communicated with the players, how she researched the opposition and adjusted the strategy based on her findings. He spent the better parts of 1979 in this manner, observing and taking notes, but rarely engaging with the players. Matilda approved of his cautious and patient demeanor, and promised he would get his chance to become more involved in the practical details of things in time. Years later, he would always credit her with teaching him most of the fundamentals of coaching a professional football team.

The ‘79 season was a disappointment, and Gressbakken ended up close to the bottom of the League 2 table. They avoided relegation playoffs, but only barely. Their city rival – Njaard IF – finishing second and being promoted to League 1 of course made it all much worse. Matilda had a defensive obstructionist philosophy – which he admired – but the team had trouble implementing it consistently. The key to their game was to prioritize defending themselves and frustrating the opponent’s efforts. Attacking was not of urgency, but rather something that might develop because of mistakes from the other team. The problem was they often lacked the stamina to keep up the required solid shield for a full 90 minutes. Far too many times, they aptly killed the game for 70-75 minutes, but then started cracking towards the end, allowing the opposing team to break through, while leaving too little time to gain any equalizer. They lost many games 1-0 or 2-0 that year. It was the 0-0 games, combined with the odd 1-0 victory against the bottom teams that scarcely saved their spot. He took note of this.

The year 1980 was a special one. Not so much for him, but for Union football at large. After many years of lobbying various majority governments made up of the Unionist Party, the Prosaic Union Football Federation (Prosaiska Unionens Fotbollsförbund – PUFF) in 1979 finally managed to convince the newly elected Moderate Party/Center Party coalition government to approve of their ambitions of signing up a national Union team to the qualifications to the World Cup. The then coach of Kejm BK – Terje Trollvei – was recruited to lead the team, and he assembled a squad of players mostly hailing from the regions of Birka and Vika. The team played in newly designed striped jerseys of light green and yellow – which some critics argued was a tasteless and thinly veiled celebration of the current government coalition parties by PUFF – and they ended up being nicknamed the Dandelions because of that. They got drawn in Group 3 alongside teams from Quakmybush, Northern Caesarea, Kiryu-Shi, Bettia, Lovisa and Estresse Intenso. Coach Trollvei, like many other Union coaches of that time, favored quick-paced “southron” football, and entered the qualifications with an offensive 4-3-3 formation. The Dandelions were easily dismantled, however, and never managed to play the kind of football their coach had envisioned. Apart from draws against Northern Caesarea, Quakmybush and Bettia, they lost every single game and conceded 37 goals in 12 games (only producing 14).

TEAM P W D L F A PTS
Bettia 12 9 2 1 47 22 29
N. Caes. 12 8 2 2 27 16 26
Quak. 12 6 2 4 25 19 20
Kiryu-Shi 12 5 2 5 24 26 17
Es. Intenso 12 4 1 7 24 24 13
Lovisa 12 3 2 7 16 31 11
Gnejs 12 0 3 9 14 37 3

He followed the qualification campaign with interest, and it left him strengthened in his convictions that

a) a solid defense is key, and
b) no matter how much you wanted it to be so, the Union would never be able to compete internationally playing “southron football”, because they would never be able to match the “true” southron teams.

History repeated itself – in his eyes – when a similarly “attacking” approach guided the Dandelions in their next attempt at qualification four years later. Despite winning three games and getting a draw, they finished second to last in their group. At this point, the Unionists were back in the government offices in the Meridian Quarter, and they firmly pulled the plug on PUFF’s international ambitions. That plug remained pulled for a long time.

While Gressbakken had a decent season in 1980, they still struggled to gain much ground, and he believed their lacking strength and stamina was the key. Before the 81’ season, he collected all his notes and observations and made a pitch to Matilda. He argued they had the right philosophy, but that the team was not fit enough to embody that philosophy. He suggested they revamped their physical exercises, modelled on high altitude training regimes used by the Huayramarcan armed forces. He was persistent, and Matilda finally agreed and put him in charge of physical training and endurance.

Stars fire Hanifer

From Staff Reports

Following Sarzonia's 2-0 defeat at the hands of Trolleborg in the second leg of the playoffs that eliminated the Sarzonian national football team from World Cup 91 qualifying, the Incorporated Football Federation announced they terminated the contract of Stars manager Nathan Hanifer, effective immediately.

Assistant manager and former Stars midfielder Brady Reynolds was named the manager.

Hanifer was not available to comment. Reports indicated he left the stadium immediately after IFF chairman Zack Wilson relieved him of his job.

"We thank Mr. Hanifer for his dedication to Sarzonian football and wish him well in his future endeavours," Wilson said. "We felt the fact that Sarzonia have failed to qualify in the last four World Cup cycles indicated that we needed to make a change sooner than later."

The decision to fire Hanifer comes despite Sarzonia enjoying its best, most consistent World Cup qualifying campaign since the team returned from the Long Isolation with the start of AOCAF 59 under late manager Bryan Ostrom. Sarzonia started slowly in every World Cup campaign but this one and controlled its own destiny with two matches remaining. However, they lost 7-3 to Cassadaigua in a match where a victory would have sent the Stars through to the proper for the first time since World Cup 85 qualifying. Hanifer started goalkeeper Trent Woodson in the first leg against Trolleborg in Trolleborg and the Stars won that match 2-1, leading Hanifer to stick with Woodson for the second leg in Dave Wilson Stadium. He made four saves, but was responsible for both goals, according to several observers of the match.

However, the IFF decision was not well received amongst the players, several of whom said privately they were furious with the decision. However, one player made his displeasure public.

"It's a fucking outrage," goalkeeper Carlton Sandt, who had been deposed by Hanifer during the loss to the Fillies, said. "He's one of the big reasons we were in this position to begin with."

Reynolds announced that Sandt would start for the Stars in their opening match of the Cup of Harmony, stating he felt Sandt needed to get his confidence back. He said Sandt's public comments about the decision to fire Hanifer didn't factor into his decision.

"He has a right to make his displeasure known, publicly or otherwise," Reynolds said. "I've spoken to him about keeping stuff like that in-house, but as far as I'm concerned, everyone on this team has a clean slate." Reynolds said he would keep the same system Hanifer used, along with the same squad.

"This really isn't an opportune time to reinvent the wheel," Reynolds said of getting the national team job prior to the team competing in the Cup of Harmony. "I suspect once we prepare for AOCAF or perhaps World Cup 92 qualifying, I'll have more of an opportunity to evaluate things and place my own imprint on the team. Right now, though, we're dancing with who brought us." Even if the dance steps aren't the ones the Stars wanted to take.

Description: Bulgari is just like red wine, he ages really well and that is all that really matters. Legends say that this could be his farewell attempt at reaching the glories of old. Definitely a leading presence on the pitch.

CB:Carlo Callejon(Age 26)(Wirr TsiImage)
Description: Callejon is approaching his peak years, with his strength and positioning and tackling ability all increasing to levels that very few players can reach. On a good day, he will pocket any striker for fun, no matter how talented they are. While hot-headed, he is reaching higher maturity levels, as such he may reserve his fighting spirit for when the moment actually requires it rather than when he is angered.

CB:Pau Puig(Age 23)(AC Serone)
Description: With Bassi's sudden disappearance, Puig is given a starting role. A non-traditional Juven defender, being tall, bulky and relatively slow, although keeping to the perfect positioning scheme of the team, Puig is the brick wall of la squadra and it is almost impossible to get through him, especially in strength and header battles. Pau Puig also possesses the charisma, or it might just be his imposing size and physique, to persuade referees to change their decisions if they seem to be negative enough for the team.

CB:Izotz Ibarra(Age 33)(AC Pomena)
Description: Ibarra knows that his aging is slowly creeping onto him too. While still talented, with a solid positioning and crossing ability, aging catches up to players that want to be fast for their effect to be clear on the pitch. What is most important though is that he will be a solid supplementary captaining figure for the cycles to come.

CDM:Josefina Portieri(Age 23)(TihonImage)
Description: While she may be mostly used as a sub in Chromatika, nobody can doubt her ability to control or change the game's pace with the blink of an eye. Josefina Portieri is a classic example of an accurate Juven passer and strong long distance shooter, traits that give her a commanding presence on the pitch. Replacing yet another original generation retiree Nino Russo, she has big shoes to fill.

CDM:Pierre-Didier Kouyaté(Age 26)(U.S Scudelli)
Description: The half-Banijan mastermind of the team, Kouyaté has always been dubbed as the successor of Russo when it comes to his playstyle. Much like him, he might dictate the speed and pace of la squadra's play, with an excellent vision and brilliant passing ability to show for it, which contributes to the high amount of assists he provides. He can also fulfill the duties of a supplementary defender, as he possesses iron lungs and can move freely all around the pitch.

RM:Júlien Cantù(Age 31)(Bul Khungur Miners FCImage)
Description: Cantù has always been the orchistrator of right wing offenses, an accurate passer and pretty decent dribbler, he sticks to the sidelines most of the time. Might give that cheeky unexpected assist from out of nowhere and is also a very keen goalscorer, especially from mid-range since he has a very odd shooting technique that gives any ball that jabulani(stole that from RLStates, ha) effect.

LM:Michelangelo Santini(Age 28)(Baraldhur AFCImage)
Description: Santini is extremely fast, still. That is not his only trait however as his speed usually gives him a lot of space to work with and orchistrate attacks from the sides, with a lot of volleys and crosses coming from his part to provide for a lot of goals that the team is meant to score.

LF:Joaquim Martell(Age 37)(Ausharmuj MarusiImage)(Captain)
Description: This man has gotten old, but for some reason his touch is still golden. That left foot can score any kind of goal from any side of the pitch, he can provide assists, he is still the most terrifying Juven presence on the pitch and for some reason he does not seem to be slowing down, despite his age, being fast and agile still. Expect a lot of goal participating from the player who could perhaps be the most legendary in Juven history.

RF:Joao Pereyra(Age 24)(BrinemouthImage)
Description: A technical player, with the ball always stuck on his feet no matter how many people you dump on him. Once given the space, his finishing could be considered one of the most clinical in the team. While he also does not shy away from providing tons of assists for his teammates, since his dribbling ability also gives him a lot of space to work with.

CF:Julio Campana(Age 23)(New Lakeland Soccer ClubImage)
Description: Campana is an exceptionally fast learner and an even better goalscorer. His magic touch always has the ball inside the opposing team's net, with them having to pick it up. A strong right foot, he usually scores rockets when it comes to scoring from long distance and usually prefers to use his weaker left foot for chips and close-range shooting, for extra efficacy.

Main Substitutions:

GK:Juan Carlos Ungaro(Age 23)(U.S Scudelli)
Description: Juan Carlos Ungaro has slowly started to solidify his spot in the squad as one of its main players due to his hard work ethic and solid goalkeeping spectacles in the Campionato. The young goalkeeper is known to be an expert at positioning himself while maintaining strong reflexes that work on his favor.

CB:Sebastian Solano(Age 27)(Odiol Vinceti)
Description: Solano is used to playing in defensive setups due to playing for Vinceti, using his positioning advantadge as well as the extra hidden Odiol Vinceti defensive tricks up his sleeve. Solano is quite big, so most shot-catching is a piece of cake for the keeper who is pretty much at his peak age.

CB:Leandro Domingues(Age 26)(S.S.C Tipoli)
Description: Domingues has a very strong mindset and a very hard work ethic, which combined for his talent to act like a ninja and seemingly "teleport" at any position needed on his side of the pitch to block any opposing attacks gives him an honorable mention.

CDM:Giuseppe Conte(Age 24)(AC Serone)
Description: Giuseppe Conte is not the flashiest player in the team, however he possesses a high effectiveness level in regards to his crossing ability as well as a sickening ball handling technique that makes it hard to get the ball away from him.

CDM:Félix Sissoko(Age 23)(Kingston FCImage)
Description: When in need, call Sissoko. Sissoko can instigate attacks out of thin air with a simple cross, or just a pass. His vision allows him to be always updated on the game. Though not particularly endurant, he makes up for it by being put in his place and playing his game. He is also lucky enough to have a slightly better chemistry with his squadmates than other players, no matter the enviroment.

RM:Chimo Quaranta(Age 25)(AC Serone)
Description: Chimo Quaranta is the definition of speed and intelligence, a mirror of Santini, yet probably slightly more intelligent with the ball on his feet and instead of being a faithful crosser, he prefers to keep the ball low while crossing on occassion, with high levels of success.

RM:Simon Oliveira(Age 23)(AC CuttiImage)
Description: Simon Oliveira is very much a nuisance to play against, a swift dribbler, excellent passer with a high chance of raining long-distance attempts at a goal or assist, the Osci side's prospect has potential only few players could ever have. Lots of rumors see him returning to the Campionato for a chance at glory.

LM:Lucien Cavallo(Age 26)(AC Pomena)
Description: AC Pomena's midfield maestro, Cavallo is a flexible midfielder, often times switching sides in the midfield in an attempt to find the perfect position to orchistrate an organised attack, with some surprise elements and it works a lot of the time. While not directly scoring or assisting much, his input is of utmost importance as he starts a number of frontline offensives which lead to goals.

LM:Tore Christian(Age 30)(Union JuvenImage)
Description: Christian might be a left midfielder, but he always pushes so far up he might be confused for a winger. Another speedy player and a great goalscorer. At his peak right now, Christian is a scary player. Though competition is just around the corner, as always.

LF:Martin Rocher(Age 32)(S.S.C Tipoli)
Description: The team's very real Osci player, Martin Rocher is a criminally good goalscorer and always terrifying in front of the goal, managing to score in every single way imaginable through every single hole that exists, no matter how small. While he does not have the speed, his high efficacy is what really makes him such a nuisance to play against.

LF:Ganymede Garcia(Age 23)(MipojoseonImage)
Description: Garcia is a big game player right off the bat, he will score that one random header or tap-in when you least expect it, however he is a clinical finisher regardless. With traits like that, he is perhaps the team's only remaining poacher up front, despite his winger status.

RF:Patxi Etxeberria(Age 32)(AC Pomena)
Description: Etxerberria has decided to give some playing time to the younger generationby stepping down and becoming a substitution, so that there is more fluidity up front. That should not fool you however as he is still a dangerous player to play against and his numbers in the Campionato as well as international club competitions show for it.

RF:Gilberto Soares(Age 24)(U.S Scudelli)
Description: Though normally a deadly striker, Gilberto Soares possesses explosive speed which allows him to be dangerous out of dead air, which is a very critical trait for a winger and a player who could just not be left out of the team. He also possess cat-like leaps that allow him to jump high in the air, giving him an advantadge in headers.

CF:Giordano Limene(Age 27)(Garden CityImage)
Description: Limene is on fire, an unstoppable attacking machine that keeps on scoring and scoring with every given opportunity. Despite a long waiting time for his engines to start, when they do start, they do not stop no matter how many walls will be put on that defensive line. An innate ability for curved shots, it is very hard for any goalkeeper to stand a chance against him.

CF:Santo Silvestri(Age 32)(Port Tacassam FCImage)
Description: Silvestri has been the team's main scorer in the frontlines but a recent fall from grace has costed him his position while he tries to regain his strong finishing ability. As he is getting older, that position is getting more and more jeopardized. However, he is still not yet finished.

Reserves:

Staff:
Main Coach:Dudu Madeiros
Junior Coach:Nino Russo
Assistant Coach:Calixto Conti
Assistant Coach:Sebastian Galletti
Team Doctor:Carlo Micheli
Team Physician:Mathis Rotolo

Roster comments: While the squad is really talented on paper, it has been quite lackluster in comparison to its glory days and has been permanently stuck in the middle of the pack. Multiple managerial changes were never what the team really needed and now they have lost their course. While the team would normally aim to play for the world cup or play for the win in the Cup of Harmony should the "upset" had happened, now it finds itself giving itself "one last ride" to glory. Changes are bound, the old generation is about to go and the new generation will replace it. The Juven spirit is still there, but Madeiros, now with Russo's help will need to channel the energy of the team towards what really matters and that is to gather wins and treat it as the norm. The team's goal is to perform not only well but possibly leave with a large rankup or even a trophy in hand. The qualifiers were excellent proof of a change in the state of the team, which still has a long way to go.

The Juven national team supports a free Qusmo! Thank you for the kits, uni-q!

Il Nuovo Stadio Olimpico della Pomena, Pomena(Capacity: 137,000)
Image

The team will be returning to its initial home, the stadio Olimpico in Pomena, a state of the art and gargantuan stadium, it hosts the games of AC Pomena in the league as well as the Copa di Juvencus final. It has all sorts of amenities in and out of it from shops, to vendors, lounges as well as everything else one can put on their mind.

The stadium of the capital has a different vibe from the previous Vinceti Catedral, all this colorful vibrance suddenly turns into an intimidating atmosphere which accurately represents the deep history of the nation. The chants feel a lot like a call to arms, ready to strengthen the Juven players while drums rhythmically beat through the entirety of the game. If a goal is scored, the loudest screams are to be heard throught the entire city, every celebration starting from this place is an emotional, triumphant celebration, echoing through the nation.

Located on the legendary Taranta Quartier of Pomena, it is in a central position not too far away from the city center and it is easily accessible by any means necessary, such as by train(being near the Taranta, Antelope and Vittoria stations), by bus, or by car.

About the Manager

Shane Newman is a Baker Park born, who took the chance to become the first NT boss for Havynwilde with an understanding that he would have time & resources to build from scratch. He was hounded by negative media coverage, the unrealisitc expectations of supporters & the governing body, and no investment to correct the dearth of talent in the domestic league. He was unceremoniously fired while out of the country on holiday. He'll consider his time there a learning experience. Was the chief defensive architect for the BPNT in the first three WC cycles.Aged 49 and married with three children--a boy and two girls--he will look to the domestic league for talent by focusing on technique, pace, and positional flexibility.

The Playing XI

#1 Steve Leghorn (Goalkeeper)
Steve Leghorn, that name when spoken in Indusse creates a legendary vibe. If anyone asks an Indussean who's your favourite goalkeeper, they would say without wasting a second that it's none other than Steve. Steve is well known due to his performance and his charitable trust. He's a well known figure in the nation who could be a political mastermind. He started his career in Trau de Mongers FC, a local football club in Southbay which soon died after his transfer. His quality performance in the club got him a direct ticket to Southbay Riveria FC B team and soon into the main team. He played for three seasons for Southbay and won the Golden Gloves award in all the seasons. His omnipresent performance got him into the national camp and get him into the best Goalkeeper the nation has ever seen. After this transfer from Southbay to Dhalopura FC, he's been winning all the Golden Gloves in the participated seasons without giving others a chance to snatch them. He's the real saviour of Indusse, saving the nation from the cannon ball like opponent goal shots.

#6 Sampath Singh Aksinwala (Defender)
The Aksinwalas are a well known wrestling clan in Sindvpore. They are those people out there who smash everyone down who stands against them. Sampath Singh Aksinwala could have followed his family customs and traditions and become a wrestling champion smashing all down like a rock. Well, he had started his sporting career as a wrestler back in his 13s but he slowly got interested in soccer and with his fit physique he was a perfect fit for a defender. At his early years, he always got red cards in his matches since he used to throw his opponents away thinking that he is wrestling. The Local Clubs still gave him chance to play and he slowly changed his wrestling in soccer into total defender football. He started to be known all over Sindvpore and he got another call from Sindvpore FC. He still plays for Sindvpore FC and played a major role in their Liga Prima Victory and FFI Cup Victory. He is now the vice captain of Sindvpore FC and is a really important member of the Indussean National Team.

#13 Mathias Paulson (Defender)
Mathias Paulson born to a wealthy Syrian Christian family in Southbay. He wasn't a soccer maniac or something, who would have started playing for clubs before teenage. He started playing at the age of fifteen for several local clubs including his school and college clubs. After this Sport Medicine graduation from Saint Louis Holiness College in Jawaruyah, he got a mail from the Jawaruyah XI FC for being a defence and fitness co trainer. With his outmost hardwork in the game, he soon won a lot of awards and got a call from Rockies International FC for being their defender. He soon left Jawaruyah for Rockies Islands, it was his perfect defending which let the club rise from Division to to Primary Division tournament Liga Prime. The Team reached top three of the primary division tournament after his arrival and he also received a lot of awards for his play. With his arrival in Liga Prime and as a successor to former Rockies Defender Maryland Bruno (Maryland is his nickname because he used to run a cookie brand called Maryland Food), he got into the radar of National team selectors. He later got the call of the selectors to join the national team camp which was the turnover in his career. He soon became a well known defender in the nation and the captain of Rockies International FC.

#4 Aaron McMuller (defender)
Aaron McMuller, born as Aaron Davis Miller is a thirty five year old defender who earned fame during the early transition period. He started playing for Malta FC at the age of Eighteen since his father was the owner of the club. Eventhough it's an unconstitutional admission to the club, he later got to be the key player of the team. His direct ticket to the club without any obstacles made his way to the national camp easy. His defensive analysis gameplay got famed through out Malta and it's neighborhood provinces of Sindvpore and Cheralam. With the fame rising and clubs waiting to get him to their home, the national team selectors caught on him and added him into the national team squad list. Everything was quick for him, the transition from a club player into a professional footballer. The transition from a rich kid into a really rich earning star. The transition from slow paced defense into quick defense and counter strikes... Everything. He is also known as the only defender in Indusse who has scored 100 goals in their domestic history.

#9 Alexis Budtedjson (Mid Fielder)
Alexis Budtedjson, that's the name of the all in all of pass gameplay. Budtedjson has been a major part of the team in every international match played. He has been scoring goals, defending goals and making ways for goals. A complete footballer they say, he's having the chance to be the next captain of Indusse if he doesn't retire. Alexis was born as a neighbor to Baskar Kumar and has been his childhood friend. Both of them started to chase their dreams together and it was Alexis who got into professional football first. Alexis started his professional career with New Hind City FC B team. His perfect play, in the B team got him into Dhalopura FC. His best career club ever, Dhalopura FC got him into fame and later Gav him the ticket to National Team. He scored his first international goal in his debut match and he says that it's his favourite memory. He later got transferred into Sindvpore FC and has been playing for the team. During the colonial era in Indusse, he started working for the national police force (NPF) and he got promoted into the assistant commissioner of Hind City. His wife, Samantha Budtedjson is a well known tennis player of Indusse. She's currently playing in the NSTT for Indusse.

#14 Djetson Hazle (Mid Fielder)
Born as Djetson Hazlett to Dr. Henry Hazlett and Maria Henry in Sindvpore, Djetson change his surname at the age of sixteen to Hazle for joining film industry since there was a prominent star "Philip Hazlett" existing. He couldn't do much in the film industry, which changed his route into football. He played for the national U-18 team due to his absolutely commendable performance for his club Sindvpore FC. His performance also brought him into the national team and got himself as.a key player. He still plays for Sindvpore FC and took part in the Championship of FFI. He is married to Katherine Hazlett, daughter of film star Philip Hazlett. Katherine is also a prominent film star in Indusse. Hazle also took part in futsal and also tried a hand in hockey. But he later realised that he was made for professional soccer.

#12 Rahul B Kumar (Forward)
Rahul B Kumar was born to the legendary soccer star, Baskar H Kumar as his only child in Derasar, Hind. Derasar is an offshore resort island owned by Baskar Kumar and David Beckem. Rahul was born to him when he and his wife was spending their vacation in Derasar. Rahul was send to Valley Bound International School in New Hind City to complete his primary education. At the age of 8, he got himself in the school's junior team and his performance got him to be the captain and at age of 12 as the School team's captain. Just like his father, Rahul took the path to be a striker and sharpshooter. At the age of 15, he got to be part of Hind City FC's B Team and also the Under-16 National Team. His colleague Goblin Grundjee got themselves to the national team. His performance for the under-16s and 19s brought them to the spotlight making way to the national team. They currently play for Neagra FC in the Liga Prime and at the same time they're taking BTech in Sanātana Dharma College, Hind City.

#7 Bechun Butea (Forward)
Once the best substitute to Baskar Kumar, now he faces a lot of competition from his fellow mates out there.Born to the family of footballers, Bechun didn't face any difficulty to choose his career. At the age of seven, his father admitted him to a local coaching center and with the basic skills got him into the Sindvpore Football Federation Training Center. Bechun's father was Takawilaka Butea, who got elected as the President of Sindvpore Football Federation. Bechun played his first professional match for Sindvpore FC and got transferred into Southbay Riveria FC. He later scored a lot of Goals opening his way to the national camp. He played as a captain substitute and vice captain of the national team and captain of Southbay Riveria FC until Baskar Kumar joined. He also played a major role in the Goblin Humanoid Project which created Goblin Grundjee, who's the first non human national player in Indusse. A football goblin was Bechun's idea. He also got the National Sports Academy Mentor post and is currently the cheif mentor of U-18 national team. His brother, Lalguvasara is the coach of Malta FC and his son Jackson Butea is playing for Sindvpore FC under 18 team.

#11 Antonio Mersiás (Forward)
The second youngest recruit in the camp, Antonio Mersiás is a well known youth idol in the nation. He was the captain of Indussean youth team in the Sporting World Cup. He led the team into the semi finals of the tournament till they lost to Starblaydia's young guns. He was born in Karadawadi, a county in Dhalopura to Francis Antony, who was a carpenter and Selina Francis. He lived as a poor kid going to the village school who wasn't so good at academics but bright in sports. His quality sporting skills caught the eyes of the headmaster there, who admitted him to the local football training sessions. The headmaster soon send him to the Jawal-Biesse the nearest city for his studies. He played for the Jawal-Biesse FC for three years and captained the team until he was called to play for the Dhalopura FC. He got selected to the U-18 team as soon as he played his first match for Dhalopura FC. His quality play in the club also got him promoted as the captain of the youth team. His awesome, historical performance for the youth team got him a quick ticket to the National Team Camp. He is currently an important part of the national team who cannot be replaced easily.

#100 Goblin Grundjee (Forward)
Goblin Grundjee who is the first ever non-human sportsperson from Indusse. The Grundjee's are one of the families of the Goblin species that was created by the scientists by DNA Modelling. The scientists created a new race of Goblins through gene editing and combining the DNAs of Humans with certain animals and Algae. The goblin species were divided into three families were Grundjees are one of the major part. The other two families are called Mithys and Auris. The current members of the grundjee family is Colonel Grundjee who is a Colonel in the royal army of Indusse. The gene of colonel Grundjee was created by merging the genes of three colonels of the army with the genes of a eagle and the green algae. The green algae plays a necessary role in getting the green Color of the skin. The other member is Goblin Grundjee who is currently playing for the juniors. His gene was created by merging the genes of David Bekem, a former football and of a wild horse. The green algae is also a necessary part of the composition. The grundjee family has the green composition of skins due to green algae. Whereas, Mithys has a brownish red skin due to the presence of Blue-green Algae with Iron sediments, Auris family has the skin Color of a normal human as there isn't any presence of algae. The skin textures and patterns of the goblins are same as the humans and the color is the only thing that can discriminate it with humans. The scientific community believe that the goblin race will create revolution in the world of science. The creation of Goblin Grundjee was overseen by fellow player Bechun Butea who also played a major role in bringing Grundjee as a experimental player. Well, Grundjee is currently one of the best strikers the nation has seen.

There he started playing for the home club, Mladost Melarit. With his games as an 18-year-old, she attracted the attention of major clubs and signed a contract with Dinamo Katanija. He won the championship and the cup with that club. Great pillar of the club's defense, with an overview of the game. He is strong in duels, fast, but his technique is also great.
He have 66 appearance in main line up.

CB Franko Rušković - 28 y - NK Mladost Melarit - Captain
Franko Rušković, 188 cm and 78 kg, an insurmountable pillar of defense. A very intelligent player with incredible agility and endurance. Strong and corpulent, they won duels in 92% of cases. He started playing football at the age of 10, before football he tried volleyball and tennis. He stayed in football and led his club NK Mladost Melarit to the second position in the league, but also to winning the cup. He was named the best football player in the league for last season, but also the best defensive player in the league. He have 67 appearance in main line up. As a captain he have 59 appearance .

RB Zoran Šutić - 26 y - NK Torpedo Melarit
Zoran Šutić, 183 cm and 70 kg, he was born in the town of Kula. Despite his club fighting not to drop out of the league, Zoran is one of the bright spots of the drowning club. Zoran was brilliant in his position and Archer Kula will probably be left without its best player. There is talk of negotiations with Torpedo Melarit, a team that entered the first league from the second league.
Zoran improve his stamina and techniqe since last WC appearance. He have a 57 appearances for national team.
Šutić signed to NK Torpedo Melarit in last season.

CDM Heong Min Ho - 26 y- NK Dinamo Katanija
An amazing player, fast and always in the right place. The accuracy in the passes is amazing and the technique is amazing. He was born in Katanija and started playing football at the age of six. From the beginning, he was Dinamo Katanija and with that club he is the champion of DR Srednjaci. He is 178 cm tall and weighs 68 kg.
Amazing player on this position. Min Ho have 63 appearances for national team.

LW Davida Zimmer - 25 y - ŽNK Dormatisi Blue Stars
Davida Zimmer , 176 cm and 66 kg, a fast football player who creates problems on the left wing. A great football player who is an unsolvable enigma in the league. She was named the best football player in that position and she deserved an invitation to the national team with great statistics. 22 goals in the season, 18 assists and an accuracy of 87%. The speed in the sprint is amazing, 80 meters ran in 10.24 seconds. It has an excellent and precise shot from the edge of 16 meters and it is the most dangerous. Last season she have signed to Blue Stars of Dormatisi and emidietly won women's Championship.
Davida won bronze medal with women’s national team on WC in Sarzonia.

RW Takanobu Tavano - 24 y- NK Dinamo Katanija
The best player in that position and probably the best player in the league ever. The ceiling is 177 cm high and weighs 67 kilograms. Probably a fast player on the right wing is simply unstoppable. Because of his speed and technique, two players run into him in defense and sometimes three. This creates a surplus on the field and is very dangerous there. With one move he is able to add the ball with incredible precision. Its market price is dizzying. In the cup against Lokomotiva Raduč, a club from the second league, Tavano scored an incredible 6 goals. With Dinamo Katanija he is the league champion and he scored 20 goals and gave 33 assists.
Tavano have 65 appearences for national team. He is in relationship with tennis star Tena Špiričić, they are one of the most poluar celebrity pair in country with huge army of fans.

CF Ante Tomljanović - 26 y - NK Čelik Raduč
Tomljanović is a unique player. He plays as an offensive midfielder, central foreward but can also play as a striker. A player who has almost everything. He is 182 cm tall, which is quite high for his position. But he is very agile, strong and technically great. He scored the most goals with his head from the corner, he can jump high and the defenders who should guard him are usually lower than him.

ST Isidor Matković - 25 y - NK Torpedo Melarit
Isidor Matković, 183 cm and 79 kg , the absolute star of the league. Torpedo Melarit entered the first from the second league and Matković is their best player, the club's top scorer, the top scorer of the second league and a player who has incredible skills. His sense of goal is the most pronounced of all the players in DR Srednjaci. Incredible shot, strong and technically refined. His turn and sprint are famous. It is difficult to keep him because he is constantly on the move and in addition to goals, he is often an assistant. He is the most talented player in the league and he will surely lead the battle with Tavano to be the best player in the league. Top scorer of national team on Baptism of Fire tournament, World Cup qualifikations and both IAC tournaments.

ST Li Peng - 27 y - NK Dinamo Katanija
Li Peng , 181 cm and 78 kg , the best striker of his club. He led NK Dinamo to win the championship. Last season he came in to Dinamo Katanija and singned three year contract. Li was best scorer of club and second scorer in whole league. With NK Mladost Melarit Li have won national cup and with Dinamo he have won championship.
Peng is second best scorrer for national team with 34 goals.

The former Stars midfielder takes over as full-time manager after Hanifer was fired. He'll be responsible for getting the Stars back to the proper.
Assistant Manager: Eric Dent
Dent will serve as a de facto defensive coordinator for the Stars, and will work primarily with the defence and the defensive midfielders.
Assistant Manager: Felix Gonzalez
Gonzalez was Reynolds' first hire and will be responsible for training the offensive players.
Goalkeepers Coach: Horace Sandt
Yes, THAT Horace Sandt. He'll be there to help train the goalkeepers including his brother Carlton.

HOME GROUND: Dave Wilson Stadium, Woodstock (105,690 capacity, natural grass field); alternate home ground i Joe Gibbs Stadium in Woodstock (75,900 capacity)

Roster (Starters in bold)

GOALKEEPERS
1 Carlton Sandt, 22, 6-foot-3, 215 pounds (Lakiska SC, Banijan Soccer League)
Sandt is the younger brother of legendary Stars goalkeeper Horace Sandt. He won the starting job for the Wanderers as a true freshman and led a previously downtrodden side to the national semifinals. He has catlike reflexes and is quick off his line. Can get too aggressive.
33 Trent Woodson, 27, 5-foot-11, 170 pounds (Saugerties Snakes)
Woodson becomes the backup while Paolo Gomes is recovering from a torn ACL. He has a decent mix of size and agility.
30 Paolo Gomes, 31, 5-foot-9, 165 pounds (Portland Timbers)
Gomes recently migrated to Sarzonia and earned a spot on the Stars national team with his quickness in the box. Plays a lot on instinct. Trying to come back after tearing an ACL during the opening match of World Cup 88 qualifying.

DEFENDERS
4 Charlie King, 28, 5-foot-11, 155 pounds (Saugerties Snakes)
King plays as a defensive-oriented fullback, often marking the opposing team's top striker. He relies more on positioning and reading his opponent's tendencies and body language to figure out where to run than on speed. He's not exactly a burner.
5 Tommy Benignati, 32, 6-foot-2, 200 pounds (Wilmington FC)
The older brother of Marco Beningnati, Tommy plays a much more rugged style than Marco does. Can play sweeper in a three-back lineup.
7 Matt Taylor, 27, 6-feet, 185 pounds (Burlington Browns)
Taylor's speed lends itself to being a fullback, but he plays halfback for the Browns. He has a tendency to struggle with more physical forwards and offensive midfielders.
6 John Taylor, 22, 5-foot-10, 175 pounds, Portsmouth University
The younger twin brother of Under 21 national team player Carlette Taylor, John plays a similar style to his sister's, although with much more speed.
18 Ben Russell, 33, 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, Rochester Renegades
In his first season as team captain of the Renegades, he led the team to a Sarzonian Football Confederation championship, resulting in the team's promotion to the Cyanea League. If he's on the pitch in the event Howard gets subbed for, he will don the captain's armband. He is a reserve halfback for the Stars.
22 Carmela Bowen, 30, 5-foot-8, 145 pounds, Woodstock Justice
Brown plays fullback for the Justice, a Sarzonian women's football team, and typically marks whomever the playmaking midfielder is. Her stamina earned her a spot on the national team.
44 Pat Meyers, 24, 5-foot-8, 152 pounds, unaffiliated
Meyers won a lawsuit against the Portland Timbers third division affiliate when the team dismissed them after successfully proving the club released them due to their gender non-conforming status

MIDFIELDERS
8 Ernie Mabree, 28, 5-foot-10, 175 pounds (FC Corcorran)
Mabree has one of the better left-booted shots in the Sarzonian league structure and is one of the fastest players in Sarzonia. He'll play an important role in Sarzonia's offence.
10 Clayton Wilson, 23, 5-foot-10, 170 pounds, (Woodstock Wild) Captain
A grandson of legendary Stars forward Brian Wilson and great-grandson of coach Dave Wilson, Clayton is not just a fourth generation star among the Stars, he served as the playmaker for the Under 21 Stars and is a sterling wing player on the Wild.
18 Carlos dos Santos, 27, 5-foot-11, 175 pounds (Woodstock Wild)
A right wing player, he will sometimes be called upon to take free kicks if Reynolds is unable to for some reason.
23 Jaxon Hennepin, 28, 5-foot-7, 155 pounds (Wilmington FC)
Hennepin earned a starting role as a playmaking midfielder for WIlmington, but also played half a season in defensive midfield when the team was beset with injuries.
30 Erik Swann, 25, 5-foot-11, 175 pounds (Portland Timbers)
Swann's strength is being a late-match offensive substitute who can score in a pinch.
14 Winnie Taunton, 27, 5-foot-9, 150 pounds
Taunton takes a majority of the penalties on the women's national team and produces blinding speed on the wings.

FORWARDS
21 Jake Campos, 23 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, (Portland Timbers)
Campos is a straight up target player in the front line. His leaping ability makes him a prime candidate for headers in the box off corner kicks and indirect free kicks. He played on the Junior Stars team that competed in the most recent AOCAF.
19 Holly Cambrio, 28, 5-foot-7, 145 pounds (Woodstock Justice)
Cambrio adds flair and ball movement skill and the ability to serve as a sparkplug off the bench, but would be a starter for a women's national team if that competition got resurrected.
41 Carly Wilcox, 22, 5-foot-11, 175 pounds (Woodstock Wild reserves)
Wilcox retained her place on the Wild's reserve squad and made eight appearances and six starts after her transition.

Cup of Harmony 83

Sargossa - 'The Corsairs'

Head Coach

Alejandro Echeverría

After a long spell under foreign management the Football Federation have turned to a domestic option for the next of their never-ending new dawns. Echeverría was a left sided wing wizard in his player days and considered one of the more technically gifted players to don the darker blue. He was previously part of the national team coaching set-up before trying his hand at management, most notably at Sporting San Marquez and then Sportivo Soluca. Turning the club from the capital into perennial title challenges domestically, albeit without actually lifting the SuperLiga trophy, and has gained a reputation for a sardonic line in press conferences. Showing utter disdain for any question he considers to be stupid. Which appears to be all of them.

Backroom Staff

Assistant Head Coach: Jorge Soto
Assistant Head Coach: Miguel Marí
Defensive Coach: Iker Conde
Attacking Coach: Jordi Suárez
Set Pieces Coach: Matías Sáez
Goalkeeping Coach: Dario Almirón
Fitness Coach: Luis Miguel Sacristán
Team Doctor: Dr Carla Segura

Talent

GK: 1. Alejandro Martínez (31) – Sportivo Soluca
GK: 13. Sergio Arrabal (31) – Alianza Jucaro
GK: 25. Zacarías Cotilla (22) – Rubio Bayamo

As a teenager Martínez was touted as a future star by no less a luminary as former Corsairs’ keeper and coach Martín Tejera. He’s now spent nearly a decade proving that praise to be justified. Sergio Arrabal spent his formative years as a hugely talented understudy at Ciudad Soluca. He had to move to Alianza to finally prove he had what it takes to be a number one. Cotilla provides a very highly regarded back-up option.

DR: 2. Tobías Figueroa (26) – El Nacional
DC: 5. Iván Franco (26) – Sportivo Soluca
DC: 6. Sebastián Cáceres (22) – Sporting San Marquez
DL: 3. Alfonso Barrueco (27) – Ciudad Soluca
DLC: 12. Andrés Obregón (24) – Sportivo Soluca
DRC: 14. Máximo Moya (29) – Sporting San Marquez
DL: 19. Juan Manuel Martí (31) – Sportivo Soluca
DC: 21: Joaquín Sanz (22) – El Nacional

The new coach uses the traditional Sargossan 5-3-2 formation as the foundation for his tactical schemes. Wing backs play a crucial role in those schemes, and in Figueroa and Barrueco Echeverría now has access to two players he’d previously been plotting how to stop. Cáceres and Sanz are two excellent young centrebacks but the international retirements of Juan Esnáider and Víctor Miralles had left the centre a little short of experience. Iván Franco, club captain for Echeverría at Sportivo, and club teammate Andrés Obregón add quality but are uncapped at international level. The talented Máximo Moya is expected to inherit the captain’s armband from Esnáider.

DMC: 4. Marcos Águila (28) – El Nacional
AMR: 7. Édgar Elvira (29) – Dínamo Maturín
MC: 8. Enrique González (29) – Ciudad Soluca
AML: 11. Jorge Sarmiento (24) – Sportivo Cordova
AMRC: 15. Agustín Soria (27) – Sportivo Soluca
MC: 16. Facundo Franco (21) – Sportivo Soluca
DMC: 18. Alejandro Gaich (23) – Ciudad Soluca
MC: 22. Juan Sebastián Varela (29) – Alianza Jucaro
AMLC: 24. Martín de la Cavallería (22) – Dínamo Maturín

The return to a midfield three won’t please the wingers but should certainly benefit Martín de la Cavallería, who could be handed the chance to occupy the number ten role he performs to such impressive effect domestically. Although Agustín Soria, who occupied the same role in Echeverría’s Sportivo Soluca side will have some say on the matter. Behind him the coach likes to have a box-to-box player sat alongside someone who pulls the strings from deep. One of González, Varela or Águila would be suited for the deeper role but perhaps now lack the lung capacity to burst up the pitch for ninety minutes. One of Echeverría’s last acts as Sportivo Soluca boss was to sanction the signing of Facundo Franco from Estrella Torreón, he may prove to be the missing piece in that puzzle.

FLC: 9. Mauricio Sainz (32) – Ciudad Soluca
FC: 10. Mateo Manzanares (26) – Dínamo Maturín
FRLC: 10. Jeremías Saavedra (24) – Ciudad Soluca
FRC: 20. Juan Pablo Montenegro (22) – Alianza Jucaro
FL: 23. Eliseo Fonseca (25) – Sportivo Soluca

Coach’s come and go but Mateo Manzanares will still lead the line for the national side. Saavedra and Montenegro are both slight, tricky forwards. Not unlike Manzanares himself. But with the coach liking to have a big man up front their chances of a starting berth seem pretty slim. And with the old warhorse Mauricio Sainz now comfortably the wrong side of thirty a new focal point of the attack will probably be sought. Eliseo Fonseca performs that very role with distinction for Sportivo and would appear to be the ideal candidate. Capping a remarkable rise for a player who four years ago was plying his trade in the third tier.

Style

After the tactical innovations of Tikariotian Brian McAllister, and his 4-3-3 to 5-2-3 via a 4-5-1(ish), the tactics are now in the hands of a man who very much favours the traditional Sargossan 5-3-2. And it’s not just the formation that will differ from the previous regime. It’s often said a coach’s formation is reflective of that coach’s playing days. That is not the case with Alejandro Echeverría. On the pitch Echeverría was a supremely talented winger (a position he very rarely deploys) and was one of the more technically accomplished players to pull on the darker blue of Sargossa. His gifts would have made him very suitable for the short passing patterns of player favoured by his predecessor. But Echeverría the coach has no time for those short passing patterns. His sides have a reputation for direct football. On the ground or in the air, it doesn’t really matter provided it goes forward.

Another mark of an Echeverría side is its proficency at set pieces. In each of the last two SuperLiga seasons no team has managed more goals from freekicks and corners than Sportivo Soluca. Matías Sáez is the coach credited with masterminded their set piece routines and he has joined his boss as part of the national team set-up.

The SuperLiga is quite a physical league so challenges can often be described as 'uncompromising' and cards are pretty common. Gamesmanship, while not encouraged, is not entirely uncommon. But diving is considered particularly stigmatic so Sargossan players are unlikely to be found doing it.

Team Personality
The Darmeni team will never argue with the referee. Indeed, if anything needs to be brought to the attention of the referee it will be done by either the Captain or Vice-Captain in a respectful manner (or to the fourth-official by the Manager). With regards to foul/dirty play, the Darmeni team will not provoke, or retaliate against any opposition player. Darmeni's expect each team to keep to itself and deal with its own trouble makers; any opposition player who attempts to prevent a conflict by pushing or pulling a Darmeni away from the scene will be promptly told off, as that is the duty of the Darmeni Captain.

Nonetheless, Darmen will play in a relatively aggressive manner. Tackles will be conducted in a way which ensures the opponent ends up on the ground, but causing injury will be avoided as much as possible. On set pieces, Darmenis will stand their ground and will not be easily pushed around, they will not however engage in hugging. In fact, if any opposing player tries to push past them, it is not uncommon for the Darmeni player to feign resistance before simply stepping aside and watching as the opposing player stumbles past on their way to ground. This occasionally backfires however, as the referee may mistake the incidence as having been a foul in the box.

Mohammad Mandrea (32 Y/O) Other side of paradise, Image

Lance Logan earned his position as the starting goalkeeper of the Brook following a series of disappointing performances from Latibeaudiere. Logan on the other hand made use of his time in Cathair and saw a significant improvement. Logan has always proved his potential in the field and became the youngest goalkeeper to earn a starting position in the team, credited for his sharp reflexes and precision is going to remain the first choice goalkeeper of the team and is predicted to start in most of the matches. However, putting a lot on Logan's shoulder could go wrong and thus to back him up, Latibeaudiere remains as the second choice. Joel might start in some matches and having a safer option in possession would secure the goal. Apart from Joel and Lance, experienced Mohammad Mandrea is also going to remain in the team. Mandrea still continues to perform t Mandrea will not disappoint the team if he is brought into the field at any point of time.

Noor Ali's return to the team was not foreseen by anyone but after a long period of 5 years, Ali made his return at the age of 33, bringing a lot of experience with him. Ali's move to Izotz Zubia, undoubtedly one of the best clubs in the world was a great boost to the latter part of his career. Ali's strength combined with his agility will provide the Brook defense assurity to a certain level. Caceres is a typical full-back and can play both on the left and right sides. He is quite the safe full-back, who never makes a mistake in defensive positioning. He had a fruitful time in Graentfjall and learnt a lot from there. Caceres had played really well in the Twin Premier League and that is what caught the attention of manager Soham Misra's attention. Caceres is going to be an undisputed starter throughout the qualifiers and his performance in the qualifiers is going to decide his future. Then there is young Geovani Angeles who completed a seasion in Chromatika playing for Urrhed FC. Geovani is young defender who recently won the Twin Premier League with Dreamland City. He has been a very important part in Dreamland's defense and has a bright future ahead of him. Angeles plays a crucial role in the defense and builds the opportunities from the defense. Billy plans of making him play most of the matches to test out his abilities. Apart from the young blood, there remains the likes of Nate Harlow, the most capped Brook defender. Harlow's specialty is to understand his team no matter which player plays and that makes him the first pick in the team. He evenly makes contributions to the midfield and adapts to his team mates' style on the field very quickly. Adrian Gigore is going to be a starting option at the right back. Gigore is very energetic on the field and the best tackler on the team.
However, Browne would not be playing the starting team at every match as he wants his players to get adequate rest and thus the backup options in the team would be Jayden Alonso, a very fast and energetic player, Alonso focuses on assisting and scoring goals. Tough Rasihawn Donaldson is also going to be there in the team. He has been a good substitute in the team for a long time and his ability to quickly adapt to the field whenever he is brought in is going to be really beneficial for Misra to try out his new team and strategies.

If you want to have a particularly strong team with a good defense and a good attacking lineup, it would be necessary to strengthen the link between them which is the midfield. The midfield is perhaps the strongest point of the Brookstation national team. Starting with Vassell in the left to Veum in the right, the midfield has seen a number of changes this time. Vassell's performance in the Twin Premier League gained him a move to Euran clup Aspel. Vassell is deemed as an appropriate replacement of Jean Jacks who has been completely out of shape for the past few months mainly owing to injuries. Jean Pierre Polnareff is obviously there in the squad. Polnareff was always a great midfielder and in fact it would be safe to say that our win against Nephara came more or less thanks to him. Polnareff would be Brookstation's first choice free kick taker. Finally there would be Veum in the right, will allow him to open attacks from the right. Veum's chemistry with Vassel and Polnareff has been impressive which makes it easier for the team to coordinate better. Veum is a promising midfielder .Veum tends to come deeper and get open inside the hole between the opposition lines which has helped the team to get goals earlier and hopefully will this time also. Alexis de la Vega will also be a regular starter who will be ready to come to the field at any point of the match when required. de la Vega has a lot of experience and he is going to be prepared to come out on the field. Vincent Mignolet is a new inclusion to the team seeing that he performed well in his club in Zeta Reka. Mignolet performs his role well and he exploits wide angles for chance creation. He does this primarily with through balls, where successful ones are important in determining the outcome of a counter-attack. There is also Roles

After a long wait, Robes was finally able to gain an international move to Turori. The attack is going to led by captain Leon Michael Robes as usual. Currently a player of Cednia Beach AFC, he is by far the most successful captain of Brookstation ever leading Brookstation to their first football trophy. He is a dangerous striker and has a beautiful style of play. Once he gets the ball to his feet, he rarely misses the chance to score. His assistant wingmen would be John J Johnson and Johannes Kehr. John has a swift style of play and his long passes help setting up his fellow strikers. He is also a fast and agile winger who can overcome defenders with his speed. Following Cust's retirement, 23 year old Kehr has been regarded as the "future Cust". A great dribbler and a possessor of a wide variety of moves, Kehr has become a young sensation in Brookstation and earned a transfer to Rutland Dockside. Onfroy is the player whom the fans want on the field due to the wide range of tricks he possesses and more importantly due to his ability to pull them off confidently. Then there is Hoogewarf, the captain of the U-18 national team who helped them reach the Quarter Finals of the U-18 World Cup. This tournament will be his opportunity to bring out his skills in front of the crowd and prove himself a worthy striker. Two reserve strikers, Weasley and Poe will also be part of the Brook team. Both the young strikers have shown their potential in the past and deserved a position in the team.

The Fort McKinley National Team had come through the twenty match qualifying series for World Cup 91 in better shape than those at the Fort McKinley Football Association (FMFA) and the Republic Party Central Committee in Shiloh Springs had imagined was possible; the Baptism of Fire had shown the potential the squad could build upon in their first foray into multiversal football, but coming away with only 7 defeats of the 20 played--and just four following the first two pairs of fixtures--and a sixth place finish out the 11 nation group brought a rising sense of optimism about both the present and the future of the NT program.

Of course the FMFA jumped at the chance to accept the invitation to the Cup of Harmony, even though there was a chance that might mean a return to Mertagne (which overall had not been such a terrible place, which of course was an unofficial sentiment) where they'd played in the BOF.

David Guy Allen's inspired play for the FMNT was a major factor in the results that had come during the second half of the tournament, as he scored 12 times in the 9 matches he appeared in (vs. the 7 goals in the 9 first half fixtures). He had been featured more prominently in the Party's news coverage of the tournament, especially after being named to the All-Star Team of the Baptism of Fire and as his scoring become almost a regular occurrence.
__________________________________________________________________________________________

Around two weeks following the conclusion of WCQ, Dave was having lunch with his parents at the family home in Curundu and since he specifically wanted it to be just the three of them, he made an excuse as to why his girlfriend Leslie--Lee-lee to everyone--couldn't join them.
He brought up, seemingly as an afterthought, whether he could have permission to spend the upcoming weekend at the family cottage at Dow Lake, Fort McKinley's inland vacation area where the most important Party members all had second homes and Comrade Dr Lester Allen's family had it's own exclusive section.

"I was wondering if Lee & I could go up to the lake (the implied reference to above) with Kate and Jason this weekend? Does anyone else have plans?" With four other siblings, Dave knew that there was usually a well organized schedule that his mom kept track of for who wanted to have certain times of the year reserved. In this particular case it was still 'off-season' at the lake (again, which Dave knew) so he had a good feeling that it would be no problem.

Kate Guy Allen was David's older sister closest in age to him--about 20 months older--and his girlfriends' best friend from university. They'd always been close to one another growing up (and also to their youngest sibling Marissa) so the idea that the two couples spent a lot of time together wasn't considered out of the ordinary.

"Yes David, that would be fine. I'm sure Dad has no objection...?"
Michael Guy Allen was the Commissar of the Curundu Region, a combination Mayor of the city and Governor of the surrounding territory that made up one of the eight administrative districts of the nation; everyone in the country needed to declare their intent and destination in order to receive approval to travel outside of one's home area, which was nominally at the discretion of the Commissar (although in practice was handled by a department that handled thousands of requests routinely every day).

"No of course not. Do you want a pass?" Which would be an official document signed by the Commissar himself guaranteeing passage.
"No Dad, Kate & I will go through the Bureau (of Travel Review or BTR). It's no big deal."
__________________________________________________________________________________________

The siblings and their significant others settled into the "cottage" fronting Dow Lake, and had a lengthy stroll up and down the pathway that ran past most of the exclusive 'Allen' section where they were staying; as noted, it was not quite 'the season' where people would come up from Shiloh Springs for a couple of days of boating, fishing or swimming and that was exactly what the foursome wanted.

The planning for the final stage of their defection from the country where they all were born & raised, and had decided they didn't wish to continue living in, began to be worked out in specific detail. David would use his leverage as the team's leading scorer and Comrade Dr Allen's great grandson (with a bit of an assist from his father) to make sure that the other three would be present in whichever nation the FMNT were drawn to play in.

At the end of the first night, Dave sat on the patio that faced the lake and powered up the smartphone that had been an important tool during the latter half of WCQ.
He accessed the inbox of his "alternate" email account and proceeded to compose a quick message.

Re: World Cup

Liam,
Many Congratulations are in order for leading your squad to the World Cup Finals. In my mind, it's a well deserved reward for a man of honor and a worthy opponent.
Hoping that we will be able to meet under less competitive circumstances in the near future.

Before we look at the roster, perhaps a little bit of introduction first. The Valentian Kittens, established in 2092, right after The Sixty figured that they would like to give the other Valentians a fair chance in representing the country in the realms of international sports. At first, we have Gwen’s Angels in IBC, and now Clarissa’s Valentian Kittens, which is then passed over to Vice Prime Minister Markus of Vostrov – an autonomous region in Valentine Z that covers China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, and Korea of the old world. World Cup 91 came in, and the Kittens were able to absolutely paw everyone else with their prowess, meaning that for the first half of the qualification matches, they were able to pave their way through and absolutely dominated through most of the teams in their grouping, save for the likes and behemoths from Nephara, Mercedini, and Yuezhou. The playoff against Tumbra was what the fans would like to non-sarcastically call a “beautiful steamroll”, owing to how the Valentian’s Kittens get absolutely dominated by Tumbra’s much better and more capable Black Eagles. However, it was not all that of a disaster, for they were still able to score a single goal against them, resulting in finishing the two playoffs with a 5–1. Additionally, the Valentians hired three more goalkeepers into the team to accommodate for the rough, unpredictable plays that football is often known for, and if there is one thing they have observed from a distance, is that they will rather have an excessively large (both in terms of number of players and the sizes of the players themselves), than to force a defender to play goalkeeper. Further, with little to no design changes for a couple of seasons, the Valentian Kittens have also unveiled a new football kit for themselves to wear, with the older kits going to charities.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:

Choose my scorers: Y
Give yellow cards to my players: Y, but TG/DM me first, please.
Give red cards to my players: N
RP injuries to my players: Yes, minor injuries that will knock them out for the next 2-3 plays. No career-ending ones. Again, please do ask first on who you want to injure.
Godmod scoring events: Y
Godmod injuries to my players: N
Godmod other events: Y, but TG/DM me first for major events.

Summary
Kelssek's tactical culture is fluid and direct, generally favouring technical and versatile players. The team boasts a high-skilled and creative midfield with a threat from some top goalscoring talent. While not weaknesses per se, goalkeeping and central defence are areas where the team is pretty average.

Cathal Gallagher GK, FC Rotmunde 1932 [STL], b. Tête-Jaune, Konoha (age 32) - 65 caps | An agile, technically sound shot-stopper. Could do better in commanding his area and susceptible to getting bullied at corners.

Sébastian St-Gerlais GK, Eterna Stars [VLD], b. Beaujoire, BL (age 34) - 19 caps | Title-winning keeper for CF Outineau now exploring the wide world. Aggressively claims balls with total disregard for anyone, teammate or opponent, in his way.

Ryan Terlock GK, Holdenberg City [EUR], b. Wynleth, NC (age 23) - 3 caps | Potentially the Colm Ó Tuathail of goalkeeping, which makes no sense whatsoever but everyone says it because he's a promising talent from the same youth club.

Ashley Douglass D/M R, CF Outineau, b. Saint-Rémy, BL (age 30) - 85 caps, 9 goals | An attack-minded full back. Uses her dribbling ability to get forward and make runs into channels.

Nacuémiró Buené D/M L, Burnaby SC, b. records sketchy, Farfadillis (age 25) - 16 caps | Rising star full-back already with a Patriotes Cup and three-time league champion. A skill player with a great cross, defensively sound but prone to get bullied by bigger attackers.

Tim Bowler D L, Gladerial United [VAL], b. Newmarket, NC (age 32) - 109 caps, 5 goals | Galacticos longlisted solid defensive full-back who can hold up the ball and overlap well.

Damien Halliger D C, Holdenburg City [EUR], b. Old Taunton, Noua Cymru (age 31) - 124 caps, 4 goals | Traditional stay-at-home hard-man central defender. Looks to establish dominance in the air.

Phillip Lozic D C, Jinlal Cove [VIL], b. Stawamus, Konoha (age 27) - 36 caps | Mobile, athletic central defender with a strong aerial presence.

Jean-Phillippe Auiloquet D C, CF Outineau, b. Outineau (age 31) - 7 caps | Hard to beat him in the air. Has nerves of titanium when it comes to playing the ball in his own penalty area.

Lily Marshall D C, Ulsa Rovers [EUR], b. Kirkenes, Noua Cymru (age 25) - 7 caps | Makes smart interceptions, and is better at playing the ball than tackling it, truth be told.

Gabriel Farahani D R, Rockridge Phoenix [BRE], b. Novonaya, Lupinissa (age 32) - 47 caps, 2 goals | Athletic and determined defensive full-back, but doesn't offer much going forward.

Curtis Holman CB/RB, Gallant Cross [BRE], b. Langley, Kon. (age 27) - 2 caps | A jack of all footballing trades and master of none. Model of a dedicated professional, which gives him a lot of credit in the locker room.

Êsêkïl dí Völará M C, Crossroads [CMT], b. Farfadillis (age 25) - 13 caps | A deep-lying playmaker who relentlessly recycles possession and is hard to get around with the ball on the ground.

Raif Ducharne M C, Latrobe Athletic, b. Glen Eira, Etn. (age 30) - 5 caps | A real midfield general who has flourished in recent years, powering his club to the KFL title and bagging the Player of the Year award. Challengers Cup finalist.

Gabriel Lapierre M C,Trebuchet Cham [ZWZ], b. Laval, BL (age 32) - 127 caps, 30 goals | Exciting, creative midfielder and a potent attacking threat thanks to his ability to find passing lanes others don't. Former Taeshan Foreign Player of the Year and was named to the "Galacticos" shortlist as one of the world's 50-ish best players.

Matts Bogdanor M C, Carsby [EUR], b. East Fallowfield, Etnier (age 28) - 54 caps, 2 goals | No-nonsense holding midfielder who can surprise with a 30-yard banger every once in a while.

Colm Ó Tuathail [captain] M L, Ulsa [EUR], b. Colwyn, Noua Cymru (age 32) - 97 caps, 20 goals | Made history as Kelssek's first-ever "Galactico", was allegedly the second-best left winger in the world in a season that saw him become a regular feature of the first 11 on one of Audioslavia's top clubs. A goalscoring threat who also has the acceleration and dribbling skill to give defences the literal run-around. With Shamrock Cathair, won one Audioslavian title and a couple of silver IFCF medals.

Bryan Hartpoach AM LR, Strathcona Internationals, b. Vickery, Conryia (age 26) - 14 caps, 2 goals | Quick, elusive, and technically adept. May wander into the middle sometimes. Often deployed as a wrong-footed right wing for the national team.

Amber Docherty M R, AC Olarria [ASG], b. Willsden Harbour, Haligonia (age 29) - 5 caps | Standard issue speedy winger with a decent cross. Coaches harp on her tendency to blindly drive passes across the box.

Shaheen Taleb [vice-captain] AM C/ST, Aries Chariots [NPH], b. Mineru, Konoha (age 31) - 117 caps, 43 goals | Deep-lying forward with a knack for a flick-on or a clever pass, yet also a canny shooter. Can freeze the defence with his excellent close control and is a highly composed finisher.

Loïc Maçon-Petrault ST, Directus [EUR], b. Saint-Rémy, BL (age 30) - 58 caps, 23 goals | An elusive and quick striker and noted jazz fan. A skilled forward who is able to dribble past his marker and paint the corners of the goal with the ball. Often looked to as the guy to get the team goals to dig out of any holes they've dug for themselves.

Thor Ibrahim Ahmad AM/F RC, Directus [EUR], b. Outineau, Beaulac (age 26) - 16 caps, 5 goals | Once scored half the goals for CF Les Castors as they finished last in the Kelssek league. Developing into a complete forward with a knack for scoring crucial goals.

Danielle Maradrogba ST, Coret Hawks [NPH], b. Outineau, BL (age 25) - 15 caps, 7 goal | Power and placement is what you get when she gets an inch of space. An exciting, highly touted talent produced from the underdog hero Association Ariddienne club.

Seamus Wylten ST, Hondo FC [VAL], b. Brandon, Etnier (age 31) - 54 caps, 30 goals | The poacher's poacher. An instinctive and deadly finisher with a great sense of positioning.

Manager: Jorge Guardia | A naturalized Apox-born dual citizen, Guardia managed Oldem Mechanical, Exton F.C, Issington F.C and Azewyn Royals before he came to Kelssek and managed CS St-Rémy for eight years, winning the KFL62 and 63 league titles, the "deux glorieuses" for the club, but declining performances eventually saw him given the boot in rather controversial circumstances.

Direct free-kicks: Gabriel Lapierre
Corners: Colm Ó Tuathail (L), Ashley Douglass (R)
Penalties: Shaheen Taleb

Fan culture
Kelssek's national teams are nicknamed the Voyagers in reference to the fact that major international tournaments are practically always in a different region and many time zones away (unless Kelssek is hosting it, of course).
Maybe Tomorrow is common to all national teams:
Voyagers, they keep on calling me
Down the road, that's where I'll always be
Onward Kelssek, the shout from everyone
Step by step, fighting on, till glory's won
Maybe tomorrow, our journey will be done
Until tomorrow, we'll just keep movin' on

Tune: "Maybe Tomorrow" (Littlest Hobo theme song)

Summer of 46 is sport-specific, and references the hosting of World Cup 46, the watershed in soccer actually becoming popular in Kelssek.
Got my first real football
Played it on a plastic pitch
Rubber pellets went everywhere
It was the cycle of forty-six
Oh when I look back now
Thought that it would last forever
Those were the football glory days

Tune: Summer of '69

HISTORY

Chromatika first entered the World Cup in Cycle 73, going a modest 3-2-7. They made the Cup of Harmony in Cycle 74, and qualified for the first time in Cycle 75, losing in the Round of Sixteen. Chromatika would have their most successful campaign in World Cup 76, making it to the 3rd place Playoff before finishing in fourth place, despite the domestic upheaval in the country. Their first Manager, Franscesca Larriet-Cortes, was martyred at the end of World Cup 75; the political stresses of the job made it so that Lisa Amos, the team's Manager after Franscesca, resigned after World Cup 76.

The team would enjoy continued success from World Cup 77 through World Cup 81, as Silian Parker helped the squad qualify for the World Cup every time, and the team even made it to the Round of Sixteen or beyond three of those times. Even when Chromatika didn't enter World Cup 82, their return to the World Cup in 83 was a success, though both World Cup 83 and 84 saw the Anomalies stymied at the Proper Group Stage - 84 being under new management in Nepharan Konrad Evans.

World Cup 85 was a disaster - the team didn't qualify and didn't even make a deep run in the Cup of Harmony, leading to the sacking of Evans and the appointment of Richard Valens of Krytenia and Tim Landers of Delaclava. The team would qualify in World Cup 86, and 87, host the World Cup in 88, and return to the Proper in 89. However, Chromatika was not making the deep runs that the nation wanted/needed, so they said goodbye to Valens and Landers and looked inward.

Sandra Sybill and Rachel Hellion, key figures during Chromatika's runs in the early days, stepped in. A loss to Nyowani Kitara meant that they were eliminated, but the team turned around and won the 82nd Cup of Harmony.

Then, in one of the most heartbreaking sequence of events ever, Chromatika lost to Zeta Reka and Hugeltaldom at home after penalty kicks, making it the first time that Chromatika has failed to qualify twice in a row since the inaugural cycles of World Cup 73 and World Cu 74.

MANAGEMENT STAFF

IMG ImageLisa Amos | Age: 62 | Height: 5 ft 11 in | Debut Cycle: 75
At the beginning of the heydays of Chromatik football, Lisa Amos stepped in after Franscesca Larriet-Cortes's arrest and helped the Chromatiks to the fourth placed finish, and then departed after another cycle, stating that she was not a fan of how heavily politicized the Chromatik national team was for the nation. She ended up in the Nepharim Premiership, where she was Starling's Manager for the longest time. After a more brief stint at AFC Corvistone, she found herself without a job. Now, she steps in as the interim manager during the CoH (and maybe the CAFA), having received a guarantee from the CFF that she will not be a candidate for the actual job. A steadfast, personal motivator, Amos has a chance to leave a huge impact on a squad that has been left reeling.

PHY ImageZoe "Z" Benne | Age 42 | Debut Cycle: 80
Once a heartthrob, Zoe Benne is married to former Chromatik superstar and now White Mountain club manager Erika Morningstar. Zoe has been a constant for eleven cycles now, and has had to treat everything from sprained ankles to serious injuries after the bus sabotage last cycle. She remains a great asset.

SMC ImageShelby Arling | Age: 27 | Debut Cycle: 87
With new management in place, the presence of Arling as the Social Media Coordinator will be very important. All questions go through her, and she takes away any and all distractions.

THE PLAYERS - Statistics as of pre-WC92 Qualifiers

GOALKEEPERS

GK Juxon FILLAR | Age: 27 | Team: ImageCazadores Cathair | Height: 6 ft 1 in | Caps: 60 Goals Allowed: 63 | Debut Cycle: AOCAF 62
Juxon Fillar is the unquestioned #1 on the team after the last few World Cups; the fact that he is only twenty-seven is a boon to the Chromatik team in general. Very good at set pieces and one-on-one scenarios, he's become better in transition and also become a leader in the locker room, being named the Captain after Engima Armageddon's outburst. As the oldest of all four Fillars on the roster, he's the unquestionable leader out of this position and will be for many World Cups to come. In the new system, he will need to hold down the fort without much help from time to time; thankfully, the experience he's gained as a part of a Champions' League winner in Cazadores Cathair will be of great help. During the Cup of Harmony, Fillar was tested time and time again, but provided just enough presence in front of the net to help the team get the trophy. He's dealing with the fact that the team just lost in penalty kicks to miss qualification once again, and it remains to be seen if his mentality will be able to remain strong through another Cup of Harmony.

GK Kathie BEGLEY | Age: 28 | Team: ImageWirr Tsi | Height: 6 ft 2 in | Caps: 14 Goals Allowed: 10 | Debut Cycle: AOCAF 63
Kathie Begley is the best keeper of the Chromatik Red League in recent history, and a master at reading the flow of the game. She's been told that she should look at going abroad, but her love of Chromatik football in the Red League has kept her around. She has stated that this is a huge honor to continue to be included in this squad - and now she is the second best keeper on this roster, having recently won the IFCC with Wirr Tsi. To see someone play as important of a position as keeper who started and continued their career in Chromatika is absolutely inspiring, and her presence here is a testament to just how far the Red League itself has come.

GK LORÉE BAUTISTA | Age: 23 | Team: ImageSabrefell Moths | Height: 6 ft 3 in | Caps: 1 Goals Allowed: 0 | Debut Cycle: World Cup 90
With a level head, great leaping skills, and a calm demeanor, Bautista has become the best keeper to ever play in the CCFA, especially in the postseason. In three title runs, Bautista only conceded one goal - and won two Player of the Year awards. His ceiling is extremely high, and he has the motivation and ambition to boot that could make him be one of the best to put on the gloves for Chromatika. He's challenging Van Enax to be the heir apparent to the Chromatik starting job - though Juxon is only 27 and has a lot of career left in him. That battle will be something to watch in the years to come. In a challenging season with Crisisbless United, he did enough to be recognized by a team the caliber of the Sabrefell Moths, and will be playing keeper for Zuniga's squad in The Zenith.

RIGHT BACKS

RB Grayson FILLAR | Age: 22 | Team: Image1830 Cathair | Height: 6 ft 3 in | Caps: 38 Goals Scored: 1 | Debut Cycle: AOCAF 63
The long-term answer at Right Back for Chromatika has arrived. Second oldest by age but third in order of appearance to the national spotlight amongst the Fillar household, Grayson Fillar is a bullheaded, stubborn, physical right back will will outright impose his will on his opponents. Overshadowed by his younger sister, the electric Baillaire, Grayson was the one who actually chose to finish high school in Chromatika before making the move to 1830 Cathair. Though he says that he's proud of his sister (and he probably is), there is a deeply competitive streak in him that demands that he also make a name for himself atop Chromatika's slew of Fillars. On the pitch, he knows how to use his size to its utmost advantage, almost appearing larger than he is at times. He also understands the importance of momentum and tone, leading to his not being shy to commit a foul if one is needed. He still has a lot to learn, but has a bright future ahead of him, and possesses the most important thing: youth. Chromatika took a risk in having him start during the Cup of Harmony, and he delivered, providing presence, physicality, and endurance in the deep run to win the title. His first qualifying cycle as the #1 option proved just how good he really was, as Grayson was an asset all the way through.

RB Raul VITAN | Age: 27 | Team: ImageChromatik | Height: 6 ft 5 in | Caps:13 Goals Scored: 0 | Debut Cycle: World Cup 90
A self-made man, Raul Vitan is a Red League project whose physicality, poise, and vision on the pitch is extraordinary. A starter for six years in the Red League (four with Chromatik), Vitan was on the outskirts of the list for many a cycle, and it was Chromatik's win of the title in Season Eight that landed him a spot on the roster. Sybill and Hellion valued pace and physicality to go along with motion, and Vitan possesses all of that. It was a testament to both Sybill and Hellion that they have the clout to add a player like Vitan, someone who's not actually been proven. With thirteen caps - mostly off the bench - in the last cycle, Vitan's been getting slowly incorporated into the team. His status remains a bit in flux after the unceremonious axing of Sybill and Hellion, but he's been chosen to be the backup for this Cup of Harmony run.

CENTER BACKS

CB Henri DE AEA | Age: 31 | Team: ImageSpartangrad | Height: 6 ft 7 in | Caps: 135 Goals Scored: 3 | Debut Cycle: World Cup 80
Henri de Aea has eclipsed a hundred caps, and shows no signs of slowing down. Remaining at large as an aerial defender and a sure tackler, there are even brighter days ahead for the central defender, who is only in the prime of his career. Now in one of Eura's big clubs in Spartangrad, de Aea's career is one that shows just what can happen if someone takes risks. In his twelfth World Cup as a member of the Anomalies, his legend as one of the best players to ever wear the checkered black and white continues to grow every time he steps onto the pitch. On this team, he's the defensive backbone who communicates with the defensive midfield to set up the Chromatik wall in front of Juxon Fillar. A master communicator and a decent tactician, de Aea is a irreplaceable piece of the squad. As Chromatika becomes more offensive, he will have to do the lion's share of the defending - and he's rearing to go. The Cup of Harmony victory showed just how good de Aea was as a leader of the team, as he was one of the ones responsible for keeping the team together. As the team deals with yet another failed cycle, de Aea will be a key piece that the CFF builds around.

CB Keira ANBIENT | Age: 28 | Team: ImageKitara Athletic Association | Height: 6 ft 2 in | Caps: 43 Goals Scored: 0 | Debut Cycle: AOCAF 63
Keira Anbient, no relation to Keira Andisori, is described as a pure willpower player first and foremost. She is neither the biggest player on the pitch, the fastest, nor the quickest to the ball; instead, she is just always around where the action is. Having joined Kitara Athletic Association and garnering valuable experience there, Anbient has only become better and better as she gets more used to different situations. Experience will be her best teacher, and as she continues to gain the opportunities in front of her, she'll only get better. She's now in the starting pair with de Aea, and though she does have some room left to go, her patience and hard work is starting to pay off - as evidenced by how well she played in the Cup of Harmony final against Mercedini. She continued to play well with de Aea and showed that she was worthy of the spot as one of Chromatika's starting CB duo during this failed qualifying campaign.

CB Klavida RÉGINE | Age: 24 | Team: ImageSt. Thomas | Height: 5 ft 11 in | Caps: 11 Goals Scored: 0 | Debut Cycle: CAFA 1
Though short, Klavida makes up for it with having the busiest feet. Almost like a hound dog at times with how doggedly she pursues anyone that dare cross her, she has been noted to be annoying by her opponents time and time again. With Licentian perennial powerhouses St. Thomas, Régine's emergence as a possible callup has been a phenomenal story to behold. Her feet absolutely never stop moving during the game, and that endless pace results in many a tired opponent. It's time Régine got some time going against the world. She was the bench player for the Cup of Harmony squad, and the success there has given her the nod as one of the second pair.

CB Moira ANSOV| Age: 27 | Team: ImageMyana | Height: 6 ft 8 in | Caps: 7 Goals Scored: 0 | Debut Cycle: CAFA 2
Ansov started her career at Brisara FC, then moved to Hanai Breakers - which was the best move of her life. Part of Masterson's defensive scheme, Ansov perfected her skills before jumping ship to join the Myana Islanders. Now, she's one of the last lines of defense ahead of Katerina Olexander, one of the better keepers in the Red League. Ansov is a classic man-to-man defender with some physicality and poise, but her calling card is that of consistency and constant aggression. If she makes it far within the Anomalies, it would be one of the craziest stories to ever come out of the nation - someone who wasn't even on the radar when she graduated from the CCFA. Her play with Régine during the Cup of Harmony run has given her the accolade of being one of the secondary pair.

LEFT BACKS

LB Ha'nei IGHV | Age: 26 | Team: ImageAvenida Leal | Height: 6 ft 1 in | Caps: 28 Goals Scored: 3 | Debut Cycle: AOCAF 62
Ha'nei Ighv is really a midfielder moonlighting at left back with her shooting skills, but insists at playing so far back just to make things challenging. A bit of an insufferable know-it all with a good heart, she likes to create a high-pressing defensive line with the help of the central midfield. She's quite good at scoring a handful of goals every year, and can surprise everyone by the creativity in her play. Now, she's with Avenida Leal, in a league that will allow her to play so offensively. Ighv is the perfect player for Sybill & Hellion's system - and she will have many a chance to score. Having scored three goals in twenty-eight caps and earned the starting job during the Cup of Harmony run, Ighv isn't going to step away from the position anytime soon as she becomes even better acquainted with the new Chromatik system. It remains to be seen how important Ighv will be in the days ahead, but at least for now, she remains the team's starting Left Back despite missing the penalty against the Rekans that sent Chromatika packing.

LB Ipati AIMÉE | Age: 24 | Team: ImageSt. Thomas | Height: 6 ft 4 in | Caps: 8 Goals Scored: 1 | Debut Cycle: CAFA 1
Ipati is more of a traditional type defender who's quite good at clearing away headers, playing man-to-man, you name it. She went unnoticed for so long before a local writer wrote a piece on her playing style about how she didn't lack much but also wasn't quite good at anything. She filled in for a season at Wirr Tsi, helping the Shock almost complete the three-peat, before being wooed by St. Thomas to play alongside Klavida Régine. Aimée is starting to prove that her CCFA career wasn't a good representation of her potential. She was the backup to Ighv during Chromatika's Cup of Harmony championship, and the two showed how dynamic their tandem can be - Ighv to loosen up the opposition, and Aimée to make sure that late leads get held onto.

RIGHT WINGERS/MIDFIELDERS

RW Emilie KRUETZBERG | Age: 22 | Team: ImageGlenmount Town | Height: 6 ft 3 in | Caps: 11 Goals Scored: 2 | Debut Cycle: World Cup 89
Recognizable due to a magnificent mane of red hair, Emilie Kruetzberg is a dynamic playmaker who burst into the scene for the Hellcats. She is a swarmer, endlessly trying to be around the ball on the attacking end to tire out the defender and take the shot. She can be a tad overaggressive at times - she led the CCFA in offside calls last two seasons - but she scores or contributes to scoring chances enough times to make up for it. Expect her to assist whomever is the Striker in the formation with constant pressure in front of the goal. Now with Glenmount Town at the Licentian Isles, she continues to build upon her repertoire, trying to get better at midrange shots. She missed a dramatic penalty against the Rekans in the playoff tie, but the CFF have decided to give her the starting nod over Wen in the sign of changing of the guard.

RM Martha BAUM| Age: 21 | Team: ImageZ'ai'ai Institute of Technology | Height: 5 ft 9 in | Caps: 3 Goals Scored: 0 | Debut Cycle: World Cup 89
Martha Baum had the entirety of the CCFA on notice to see where she'll go to, if she isn't whisked away abroad beforehand. She may be a bit short, but with precise passing skills and a flair of the dramatic, there's definitely potential there. She does prefer to be under the radar, though, which has been the only stumbling block on a promising early career. If she can get some confidence? Her stock would rise almost as fast as someone like Kuznetsov. Now that she's been recognized by the CFF, her days of being in the shadows are nearing its end - she just needs to grab the opportunity by the horns. On the last three DBC and WC squads, Baum's become bolder, and though Sybill & Hellion's system will likely have her play a bit further up the field than she would like, she has the shooting skills to take advantage. Her versatility actually gives her an edge as Chromatika looks for a new Manager on the days ahead.

LEFT WINGERS/MIDFIELDERS

LW Vasiliy Marten KUZNETSOV | Age: 28 | Team: ImageHerzegovina City FC | Height: 6 ft 1 in | Caps: 87 Goals Scored: 40 | Debut Cycle: World Cup 85 VICE CAPTAIN
Kuznetsov is a star who can do it all - drop back and defend, counter, cross, and shoot from range. The sky is the limit for him, and after winning the Champions' League with Kitara AA, he is in his prime and rearing to go. A humble star who knows what he is worth, Kuznetsov only has one thing left to do on his list - take the Chromatik National Team to new heights. With the complete package, he remains the focal point of the Chromatik attack, and the forefront of the new school of Chromatik football where the Left Winger and the Attacking Midfielder take point over the Strikers. Recently transferring to Banijan powerhouse Herzegovina City FC, Kuznetsov's career is at the point where the only thing left to do is to keep winning, if he can make it work. After not making it to the World Cup, Kuznetsov was a huge part of the Anomalies' Cup of Harmony victory, scoring five of the team's nineteen goals. The fact that the Anomalies missed two World Cup Proper in a row isn't great for Kuznetsov's legacy, but it's hardly his fault.

LW Edith FILLAR | Age: 18 | Team: ImageShamrock Cathair | Height: 5 ft 7 in | Caps: 14 Goals Scored: 9 | Debut Cycle: World Cup 89
The youngest of the Fillars, Edith is the next coming of Megan Kelly, or the Chromatik winger who's short but can run circles around would-be defenders and take over the game due to where she is on the pitch. She may not be the quickest off the ball, but she has the relentlessness that has been present on many great Chromatik wingers. With the mindset of a drill sergeant who is definitely the strictest on herself, Edith's career is just beginning. How is she so high up this list? She showed that she is the best option to be behind Vasiliy Kuznetsov, and with impact minutes off the bench, she's shown that she isn't limited by how many minutes she plays, either. One of the best performing players during the failed qualifying campaign, Edith's presence gives Chromatika some hope.

CENTER MIDFIELDERS

DM Kateryna ZUNIGA | Age: 30 | Team: ImageSabrefell Moths | Height: 6 ft 2 in | Caps: 68 Goals Scored: 2 | Debut Cycle: World Cup 85
Kateryna Zuniga is the annoying man-to-man defender that one can never shake. One of the major players that caused the system shift to a more fluid central midfield, Zuniga is more than happy to see the opportunity to start more games. When Armageddon went off the edge, Zuniga stepped in and really helped steady the team as they shifted to the Cup of Harmony and ended up winning the competition. This is the heyday of Zuniga's career, and she's just getting started, looking to help the Moths secure the Zenith as well as help the Anomalies return to the World Cup proper. Though the team failed to do the latter, Zuniga proved yet again that she is the long term solution at DM and that the Anomalies don't need Enigma at all.

AM Haley HAUSER | Age: 28 | Team: ImageSpartangrad | Height: 6 ft 7 in | Caps: 64 Goals Scored: 30 | Debut Cycle: AOCAF 62
Haley Hauser is the shoot first, ask questions later attacking midfielder, scoring more than one goal every two appearances. Playing for a strong Euran side in Spartangrad, Hauser forms one half of the duo with Baillaire Fillar when Chromatika goes for the two Attacking MIdfielders lineup. She now has the chance to thrive and be one of the biggest scoring threats on this roster alongside VMK. Hauser is reportedly absolutely thrilled about working with Sybill and Hellion, and will be given authority to shoot from any range. With six goals in the last cycle, including four in the Cup of Harmony run, Hauser showed her ability to take over a game. She remained the sniper during this Qualifying campaign as well, and will be counted on to perform once again in the Cup of Harmony.

AM Baillaire FILLAR | Age: 21 | Team: Image1830 Cathair | Height: 6 ft 3 in | Caps: 47 Goals Scored: 22 | Debut Cycle: AOCAF 62
Baillaire Fillar is the flashiest of the Fillars. She subscribes to the Hermaeus Mora/Haley Hauser school of Attacking Midfielders, marrying both styles by shooting first and asking questions later while making deep runs into opposing territory. With a creative and dramatic flair that doesn't really exist in other Chromatiks from the past, Baillaire is a playmaker through and through. With Hellion and Sybill in charge, Baillaire will become more and more integral to the Chromatik attack. She's now one of the starting duo with Hilary when Chromatika goes the 4-3-2-1 route, and with 47 caps by age 21, she could be one of the best players to ever wear the checkered black and white.

DM Kaia LARRIET-CORTES | Age: 23 | Team: ImageLa Nueva Avenida | Height: 6 ft 5 in | Caps: 35 Goals Scored: 2 | Debut Cycle: AOCAF 62
Kaia Larriet-Cortes is third in a line of very capable defensive midfielders behind Enigma Armageddon and Kateryna Zuniga. She grabs the attention due to her last name. Niece to the late Franscesca Larriet-Cortes, Chromatika's first Manager and martyr in the Rainbow Revolution, Kaia is an even-keeled Defensive Midfielder who is best described as a younger, female Enigma Armageddon. Both of them are imposing, both of them lead on the pitch, and both of them know how to contribute offensively when needed. Where Enigma commands attention by physical presence, hers is more subtle, being in all the right places at right times. She is often the visionary on the pitch. She had eight caps in the last cycle and showed that she can be the backup to Zuniga during Chromatika's run - something she cemented this qualifying campaign.

DM Mare SI | Age: 27 | Team: ImageYassaca | Height: 6 ft 1 in | Caps: 14 Goals Scored: 0 | Debut Cycle: AOCAF 63
Mare Si is easily the best complete center midfielder in CCFA history. She started off as a holding midfielder and then developed her shooting game to incorporate set pieces as well. The complete package, she'll play the defensive midfielder who has the capability to shoot if the opposition is caught napping. On the squad, she is known as the team's patient assassin, as her playmaking ability increases the longer the game goes. Having tasted success with Yassaca, Mare's trajectory doesn't show any signs of slowing down anytime soon.

AM Alissar PHOEN | Age: 25 | Team: ImageDynamo Sjoedrhavn | Height: 6 ft 2 in | Caps: 20 Goals Scored: 5 | Debut Cycle: CAFA 1
Alissar Phoen's stock rose like a rocket with Chromia Central College University. An ambidextrous shooter who actually prefers range to up close, his creativity and dramatic scoring ability was what led to his collegiate success and helped him land a spot in Savojarna. Many are wondering if this can be replicated in the international scene; he's done well for himself in Savojana, and with the fact that he's only twenty-five, there is still a lot to be decided in his young career.

STRIKERS

ST Hank KILLIAN | Age: 23 | Team: ImageBlackfields | Height: 6 ft 1 in | Caps: 6 Goals Scored: 0 | Debut Cycle: World Cup 90
A pure playmaker who's willing to do it all, or in some cases, too much at times. Needs to learn when to rein it in. Killian went to the Euran Oceanian Territories and made a killing for himself at Oslograd Academy, becoming one of the better strikers. Now, he's moved up to Blackfields. Killian can sometimes try to do too much, but as long as he keeps the field in front of him, he has so much potential. With Gainsbourg getting along in age and change needed in the horizon, Killian is now getting the starting nod - a bold move by the CFF.

ST Kara OVENI | Age: 21 | Team: ImageColonial Sile | Height: 6 ft 5 in | Caps: 17 Goals Scored: 5 | Debut Cycle: AOCAF 63
Kara Oveni may be just twenty-one, but she is a beast in stature and in playstyle. Possessing more of a big-play flair and the tendency to create chances on her own, she'll likely come in when the team uses two Defensive Midfielders and the team needs a striker who can handle themselves. Still developing that instinct at Colonial Sile, Oveni's career is just beginning. She can take over games by her persistent presence in front of the goal and her ability to work with other playmakers.

Electrum National Football Team
presented by Electrum Football

General Information

Once a humble team comprised of human footballers, this team is one of the few to have failed in its attempt to not win the World Cup. This failure happened in World Cup 78, although many Electrumites like to pretend this failure never happened. Just a few short cycles after this win, the Electrumite team, along with their compatriots, froze in time after a disastrous experiment with time particles called chrons. Honestly it would have been better if it were Crohn's instead. It was at this point that our kindly, most benevolent, yet mysterious five dimensional leader The Computator, four beings that share a single voice, unfroze the nation and put it back on track. Why did The Computator decide to unfreeze the nation? To learn and understand the game of football which is surely a closed, deterministic system. To test this theory, chaos is now the aim of the game for the Elecrumite national football team, with the introduction of extra-dimensional players thanks to The Computator. This strategy has finally worked with the return of Electrum to the final stages in World Cup 89, where they were the only nation to beat eventual World Cup winners Ko-oren. It really makes you think how they could not follow that up by qualifying for World Cup 90 but that's neither here nor there, it's in the Cup of Harmony after all. Also we're resigned to the fact we're never going to qualify again because that's the way we like it.

The Electrumite team is still shaking off the effect of the chrons so all of our team is exactly one year older compared to the previous World Cup. We are like elephants with long memories, long trunks and seemingly taking forever to age.

Statistical Information

Best World Cup record: Champion (WC78)
Worst World Cup record: Censored
WCC match record: Unknowable

Coaching Staff
Manager: Tyler Fernando
Assistant Manager: Jemima Bryant
Development Manage: Risa Shigaraki

Tyler Fernando, sentient creature with noted footballing skills, has been appointed for another cycle to manage the Electrumite team. Fernando has finally made the team's unique biological composition work with an appearance at World Cup 89 Finals. He is known for being in the World Cup Failing Team of '78, piloting the team with his superb captaincy. He is also known for dismissing that large stone in the shape of an egg which appeared for Electrum in one cycle.

Roster
Starting XI
#1 Ralph Mills - 28 - GK - Image Hamilton Sandstorm
A studious goalkeeper, Mills graduated top of his economics class and is well versed in game theory, in particular simultaneous games related to the taking of penalties. His crib notes are dozens of pages long with various analyses of opposing penalty-takers depending on any situation that may arise. Sometimes these notes may fly in the wind.

#4 Elenora Sapper - 24 - DF - Image Pinkerton FC
The youngest member of the starting XI, Sapper is QUICK with unrivalled stamina running across the pitch. She likes to provoke and get in her opponent's faces and toes the line with the referees.

#5 Bayden Forest - 29 - DF - Image Hamilton Sandstorm
A tall, bulky player who is described as a cross between a tree and a brick wall, with his intelligence between those two objects. Nice guy though.

#15 Marcus Renshaw - 28 - FW - Image FC Fairleigh-Warburton
Renshaw only communicates using emojis in group conversations and it's really starting to bug us. Also he has eczema.

#9 Sentient Energy Ball (Seb) - ?? - FW
Seb will be wearing a fabric spherical 'jacket' which conveniently looks like a normal football at certain angles. This is a strange attempt to get the opposition off for kicking a player deliberately for a red card. Let's see if it works after this strategy has been used for two cycles. When short tempered, easily short circuited.

#12 William Stewart - 26 - DF - Image University
There is absolutely nothing interesting about William Stewart except for the fact that his name is comprised of two first names.

#13 Julius van Buren - 31 - MF - Image Grenville Sailors
van Buren, as his name suggests, is very flashy. Likes to run circles around his opponents and great at manipulating the ball and getting past opponents.

#27 Crystal Le - 31 - DF - Image Kale Island Dwarfs
A long time second string player, Le finds herself with a golden opportunity after Alan Moore's retirement. Le is adept with the ball but sometimes plays too selflessly to her detriment.

#20 Nindethana Nindethana (c) - 30 - MF - Image Eastal Lunar
Nicknamed Nindethana squared, her favourite board game is Maxopoly and she is one of the few Kale Islanders on the team. She possesses mystical powers to open portals between two locations at short distance but refuses to use those advantages in a football match. Honourable.

#22 Einarsson, King of the Armoured Bears - ?? - MF
An old friend of The Computator's, Einarsson has played in the Electrumite team as a favour to our nation's leader. To him, ten years of Earth time is equivalent to six months of bear time, so really this is kind of a short vacation rather than a long-term thing.

#24 Android X4-TU in the shape of a flightless bird - ?? - MF
The talons of Android X4-TU (upgraded from version X3-TU) are known to puncture balls, so opponents are often very keen to get the ball away from it. Often matches are delayed to replace the ball.

The Starblaydia national football team factbook will tell you more about the team, their style, culture, fans, and history than I can ever write in a simple roster post. If you need more background information or just fancy browsing 17 RL/300 IC years of role-played football history, that's a fairly decent place to look. Otherwise drop me a message on Discord or, failing that, shoot a TG over.

I Give My Opponent Permission

GodMod Any scoring events

Give Red & Yellow Cards to my players (Within reason; they're not remotely a dirty side overall)
GodMod Other Events for Humorous Intent

Notes:
1) Starblaydia's style modifier is +3
2) The best starting eleven are numbered 1-11 in bold, and opaque in the line-up graphic. 'Ideal' like-for-like substitutes are semi-transparent.
3) I actively encourage that if you RP first you pick my scorers (if any) and their style of goal. Really, please choose my scorers. So often I read RPs where my opponent writes "Starblaydia scored" and I find it so, so much more enjoyable when a name is picked for me.
4) * Denotes female, denotes elf, ^ denotes dwarf.
5) Before each match, in between the national anthems and kick-off, the entire 23-man squad will perform the Raiigar, one of Starblaydia's traditional war-dances.
6) If you need a name for a player to do a specific thing in the match, some vague suggestions are at the bottom of the infobox on the right.

For all the progress that Ázëwyn Fëanáro made with the national team from World Cup 78 onwards - winning the AOCAF Cup and the Under 18 World Cup, reaching the Finals of the World Cup, Under-18 and Under-21 World Cups - it was the World Cup 90 cycle that saw her downfall. Failing to even make the playoffs as a result of being in a group with Esportivan and IAC champions, she was given an ultimatum: win the 82nd Cup of Harmony or lose your job. The wrong side of a 5-4 thriller to eventual champions Chromatika in the semi-final proved to be too stern a test, and she left her role after the third-place play-off and the emotionally underwhelming presentation of those bronze medals. Ultimately the SFA went for an extraordinary candidate: Tlanx-Nulzk Han of Qusmo. The 66 year old two-time Galactico Manager becomes the first ever non-Starblaydi coach of the national team and proves that, now the tricentennial celebrations are over, the SFA is willing to go to any lengths - including 'Tlanxball' - to make that long climb to the top of the mountain once again. Missing out on a playoff place for the 91st World Cup by goal difference, however, is not the ideal start for the five-time World, seven-time Regional, two-time Under-21, one-time Under-18 and one-time Olympic Men's Football champions.

The full makeup of the team is as follows:

Image
TNH. Tlanx-Nulzk Hal, Manager, 66 - Image
Two-time KarlingSport Galactico Manager of the Season and former manager of Salstead and Savigliane, Tlanx-Nulzk keeps their streak of S-nations alive by taking the reigns and becoming the first non-Starblaydi coach of the national team in their three hundred year history. An attacking-focused manager who likes to play a 4–3–3 and advocates for social, political and human rights causes, it's a venture into Tlanxball for the five-time world champions, looking to a well-regarded and, in Saviglane, much-loved coach.

Image
1. Cristaldo Sarro, GK, 31 - Hippion Overdrive - Image
23 Caps, 0 Goals (9 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
The Overdrive 'keeper is known for fast hands and getting down low. The 3rd CAFA Cup was his first run of games with the national team, but he's as dependable as ever for his club side: even if they are overall kind of average, Sarro earns them at least 10 points extra every season with his performances.

12. Alan Valderas, GK, 28 - Sporting Salicus - Image
5 Caps, 0 Goals (6 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
Though he didn't play in the Cup of Harmony or Anaia regionals, Valderas is a solid and dependable goalkeeper who will surely make a number of appearances during the lengthy qualifying campaign.

19. Erica Savino*, GK, 23 - Sporting Salicus - Image
3 Caps, 0 Goals (5 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
Savino has had a decent enough start at youth international level and has now been brought into the side for her first look at the sharp end of top level football. Not expected to make many, if any, appearances, but there's nothing like having a young goalie travel the world, soak in the atmosphere and keep the starters on their toes.

Image
2. Jamelia Soule*, RB/RM, 21 - Iskara Daii - Image
32 Caps, 2 Goals (5 Caps, 1 Goal at youth level)
A dead ball specialist with one of the cleanest strikes of the ball you're likely to see, Soule is the complete modern full-back. Often deployed in midfield for the Daii, the one question on her skills is actually at defending, and though she's often seen as a weak link and targeted by opponents, her record more than speaks for itself already.

3. Jose Antonio Marqués, L/CB, 29 - Corinthian Spirits - Image
26 Caps, 0 Goals (9 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
Energy: that's the key word to describe Marqués' game, and in the forward-minded 4-3-3 where the full-backs are expected to not only defend but also provide attacking width, verve and overloads down the wings, the Spirits player has managed to survive the squad's fresh start after World Cup 90's disaster. The man has energy to burn sprinting up and down the left side all day, but questions still remain over his defensive ability.

5. Serafim Tassidis, CB, 27 - Ionia United - Image
28 Caps, 0 Goals (9 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
Retaining his captaincy from the 3rd CAFA Cup, Tassidis is a tall and powerfully-built defender, but uncannily light on his feet with a superb reading of the game. He's got an educated left foot, too, and has more than enough ability to bring the ball out of defence, or track wide and cover the space left by an attacking full-back with ease.

6. Grzegorz Wójcik, CB, 23 - Hallad Reavers - Image
31 Caps, 1 Goal (8 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
Coming through the ranks at the Reavers and already a solid member of the first team there, he provides a one man wall in any defence, but this belies Wójcik's touch on the ball. A combination of aggressive and composed, he looks like a monster but can be a dancer with the ball at his feet. Young, but with a huge amount of potential.

13. Charlotte Watson*, R/CB, 26 - Jhan Province - Image
7 Caps, 0 Goals (6 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
In need of a backup right-back, Jhan Province's Watson is untested at senior level, but makes an ideal replacement to change up the defence, as she's a more traditional fullback, also able to play as a central defender and let the left sided fullback push as far up the pitch as they like.

14. Elisa Koivula*, CB, 28 - Hecia - Image
10 Caps, 0 Goals (12 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
First brought into the senior squad for the 3rd CAFA Cup, Koivula is a solid if uninspiring centre back, strong in the air and with a good reading of the game. Don't expect her to go on marauding runs in possession, but in a similar vein don't expect her to be massively caught out by your average forward with tricky movement.

20. Pete Edmonton, LB, 23 - Corinthian Spirits - Image
Uncapped (8 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
TBC.

21. Angela Ludwig*, CB, 31 - Cedrus Soundgardia - Image
12 Caps, 0 Goals (12 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
Sometimes you need a player on a team who the opposition hates, the crowd sneers at and the referee has to keep their eye on, drawing all the negative attention to allow the rest to play more freely. Ludwig is exactly that kind of woman. Happy to put in a late boot or an early elbow, she's a smart defender who can really get under the opposition's skin. Always protesting innocence and highlighting infringements against her, her veteran's experience will serve the bench and the squad rotation throughout the Qualifiers well.

Image
4. Henry Whittaker, C/DM, 25 - Paricone Athletic FC - Image
36 Caps, 2 Goals (6 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
An all-action combative defensive midfield, Whittaker has the long limbs and engine of a player who can be a constant thorn in the opposition's attacks. Sometimes he can be a bit too aggressive or strong in the challenge, but that just makes his own fans love him more.

7. Oksana Shevchenko*, LB/LW, 25 - Beverington Hawks - Image
41 Caps, 5 Goals (6 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
Listed as a defender but equally comfortable at your corner flag or the opposition's, don't be fooled by her relatively short stature. She's fast, really fast, and has great skills with the ball at her feet. Low centre of gravity and a quick turn keeps opponents away from the ball, and a killer final ball is ready to unlock a defence or smash in a goal.

8. Dawn Halleck-Winter*, C/AM, 22 - Tabeck FC - Image
39 Caps, 7 Goals (5 Caps, 2 Goals at youth level)
Playing with her head up and always looking to go forward, Halleck-Winter has already demonstrated she's an excellent player. From late arrivals into the box to long shots from distance, or getting up to support the central strikers and be a key part of the attack, Halleck-Winter has a lot of tools in her arsenal.

10. Stefania Clarke*, Captain, RM, 26 - Iskara Daii - Image
29 Caps, 5 Goals (5 Caps, 1 Goal at youth level)
An old-fashioned right midfielder, she's fast and has a wonderful touch on the ball with crosses and set-pieces. Stronger than most give her credit for, Clarke's vision and passing skills will definitely relied upon during this tournament, she's unlucky that the system doesn't quite gel with her best abilities. Her all round drive and leadership qualities, however, stand her in great stead.

15. Michael Torgue, C/DM, 23 - Beverington Hawks - Image
8 Caps, 0 Goals (8 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
Fresh from holding the centre of the pitch at the 53rd Di Bradini Cup, Torgue is the natural successor for Whittaker in the long run, and may even be able to give him a run for his money during these Qualifiers. Does his best work of interceptions and breaking down attacks almost invisibly, and if you don't notice him for a period of play, he's probably doing his job perfectly well.

16. Rosinha Silva*, C/AM, 28 - Vecchio Victors - Image
10 Caps, 0 Goals (12 Caps, 1 Goal at youth level)
Unlucky not to have featured in a senior squad until now, mostly thanks to the likes of Shinoda and Halleck-Winter, but also to the lack of need for specialised attacking midfielders in squads, as Fëanáro preferred all-round midfielders who relied on athleticism, vision and touch. Silva uses short bursts of speed, a good range of passing, and an ability to find enough space to turn and shoot in the proverbial phonebox to maximum effect.

22. Leilani Kukui*, L/AM, 19 - Samosisos Blues - Image
10 Caps, 0 Goals (2 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
The youngest player in the squad, the diminutive Kukui has bags of potential and the work ethic to match. Seemingly always able to find that extra half a yard to put in a cross or a shot, her hallmarks are quick feet and exceptional ball control.

Image
9. Joe Mason, CF/SC, 26 - Iskara Daii - Image
31 Caps, 5 Goals (6 Caps, 1 Goal at youth level)
Causing trouble in the box and strong as an ox, Mason provides the target-man plan B for this team, as well as being an instant draw for defenders who often can't cope with his size and power, but all that casts a deceptive shadow over just how good he is on the ball, and how much of a link-up player he is both in the air and on the floor. A winger's dream target man in the middle.

11. Hassan Al Faizan, SC, 22 - Cedrus Soundgardia - Image
40 Caps, 15 Goals (9 Caps, 5 Goals at youth level)
Al Faizan's potential is near limitless: incredibly fast, primarily left footed but also comfortable shooting on his right, he can play anywhere along the front three. His speed and pressing is suited perfectly to Tlanxball. The Under-21 captain, fireworks are expected from this kid whenever he plays, and he rarely disappoints. Along with Pukkinen, one of only two strikers retained from the World Cup 90 Qualifying squad.

17. Haruto Fukuwara, RW/LW, 21 - Tuncastle Rovers - Image
16 Caps, 0 Goals (3 Caps, 0 Goals at youth level)
One day it will be firmly established as to whether Fukuwara is better on his left or his right foot. A fast wing wizard in the mold of semi-mythical players like Jaime Kuu, Cherry Garcia and Stefan Haldorsson. Speed and tricks a-plenty, he's able to draw a foul and put in a decent cross, but often the quality of the final ball just isn't quite there.

18. Yuri Pukkinen, SC, 23 - Jhanna City - Image
19 Caps, 5 Goals (10 Caps, 2 Goals at youth level)
Playing up front at JCFC, you'd expect Pukkinen to be a big, strong centre-forward type, but in fact he plays what everywhere else could be called the 'False 9' role, dropping deep to bring in the players around him, relying on movement and cleverness to create goals, rather than being the one who bangs them in. He'll offer something completely different to other strikers when he makes appearances, be it as a sub or in the matches against lesser-regarded opponents. Along with Al Faizan, one of only two strikers retained from the World Cup 90 Qualifying squad.

23. Cornelius Redskye, SC, 19 - Beverington Hawks - Image
14 Caps, 1 Goal (2 Caps, 1 Goal at youth level)
Cornelius "100% Banter Goals only" Redskye is the young man you need when you need an outrageous goal. In off his arse, a looping header from all of 35 yards, rainbow flick over the goalkeeper - he just doesn't score ordinary goals, or ones that don't matter.

Image

Play style
The 4-3-3 was Fëanáro's go-to formation from youth teams right up to the senior side from World Cup 78-90, and the SFA's appointment of Tlanx-Nulzk looks to continue that trend, as they have long favoured that formation. The 4-3-3 relying on a high press throughout the team, with the majority of width and attacking verve from full-backs (2 & 3). Either can join the attacking line, often ending up in a 3-2-5. The three midfielders (4, 7 & 10) will look to overload and control the centre of the pitch with short, sharp passing and moving to ensure passing triangles are constantly available. Whether adopting positions as wingers or strikers, the forwards (9 & 11) will be working in concert with the the pivot (8) at all times, in both attack and a high pressing game as a unit.

Weaknesses
The 4-3-3 offers great tactical flexibility, but relies on two things: instant decision making (particularly from the midfield) and the front three operating in unison. Exploiting any miscommunications from the front three to expose, isolate and play through them can key, and forcing the midfielders to make tough choices with passing by pressing them or overloading their options can make this game plan fall apart. Attacking the full backs can also work, but their ability to switch up which one attacks and which one defends at any particular time needs careful exploitation. Other winning strategies of your choice are also available.

Kits created by:

Image
With a foreign manager, it's clear that all bets are off in regard to Starblaydia this time around. ediraf have seized on that idea by, for the first time in history, debuting a purple home kit. Each round-necked shirt is individually patterned with the inspiration of the purple orchid, Laelia Starblaydia, unique on every kit, whether worn by superstar athletes or dedicated fans wanting to wear the colours of their country. The away kit, in yellow-gold and black to match the other colours of the national flag, features a much more defined geometric pattern with the classic collar tinged delicately with a vibrant splash of purple. The all-green goalkeeper kit, too, shows off a patterned gradient design, with the entire collection (again with rainbow laces as a symbol of diversity and inclusion) putting Starblaydia and ediraf right back at the top of the fashion stakes. The best Starblaydi kits ever on first glance? You be the judge...

Optiyarn
Optiyarn technology increases both supporting structure and dynamic stretch ability according to the wearer's requirements, isolating body parts and muscle groups for maximum integrity of material and complete comfort of fit. Toughened against all climates that come into contact with the exterior, yet gentle and smooth on the inside, Optiyarn fits better and aligns more comfortably to a player's body than ever before.

Aerodynamix
Aerodynamix design improves airflow over the material in a natural, ergonomic pattern, because even microseconds can be the different between victory and defeat on the grandest stages of sporting endeavour. Limbs and torso move more swiftly through the air, cutting through to achieve acceleration and top speeds hitherto unknown in previous incarnations.

Transpacool Three
Transpacool Three improves and evolves on the breathability features of previous ediraf CoolClimate creations, dispersing sweat into the atmosphere faster than ever before, siphoning cooling air in with more efficiency than any kit the company has produced previously. A Generation Five kit provides a greater enabler to a player's natural talent than at any point in history whilst keeping them at the optimum performance temperature.

The Gortoleki Football Union
presents
The Gortolekua National Football Team

So...
What even is Gortolekua?

Imagine a country of surface-level wannabe hipsters with cuffed jeans who smoke cigs and scoff at most people for not being cool enough, but are genuinely nice people when it matters at the end of the day. That's the average Gortoleki (not "Gortolekuan," that's not a word for us) for ya. Granted, a lot of the initial tenseness might come from the fact that this country was under a series of isolationist and authoritarian governments who prevented any contact with the outside world and severely limited whatever information about the outside world came into it. But a new-ish Premier (Perry Salonen) is trying to get the country involved in the outside world; after about a year or so of it, most people have accepted the country being perceived by the multiverse.

A brief national footballing history

As a philosophy, that Gortoleki tough love is what makes football— Gortolekua’s most popular and beloved sport—special in the country. It’s one of a few things Gortola and Olekua both agree on. Compassion for their opponent as people, ruthlessness for their opponents as players. You'll see some of the nastiest, yet fairest, tackles from a Gortoleki centre-back tracking back their opponent, or simulations that are reasonable from strikers and forwards. If the ball is well and far away, it's an insult to the game to dive, but if there's a chance where it looks like the ball is close? Prepare for an acting performance unlike any other. There's a respect for the beautiful game and its hideous counterparts among Gortoleki players and overall genuine excitement for bringing this brand of football to the multivers—wait, you're telling me this brand of football already exists? The Audioslavians perfected it somehow? Shit, there goes us introducing gamesmanship to the world. Here's to bringing our own interesting take on it.

Anyways, enough digressing. Most of our football was provincial up until very recently, as there was no point to really have a nationwide league if there weren't any ambitions to compete across the multiverse. A domestic league has its second season underway, and reflects some of the best players in this current Ohorekunnia competition, on top of previously established favorites.

Coaching

Thirty points isn't too bad of a start, according to Bárbara Sanderson, the national team manager and club gaffer for Astraalitaso. Sanderson's successful enough stint with the Winter Lynxes is warranting some full attention to the country over club, a decision she'll make post Cup of Harmony. "I'm having a blast with Astraalitaso, and I'm having a blast with the national team," Sanderson said. "But I have to figure out how much longer I can handle the juggling because I don't want to drop anything at all."

Tactically, Sanderson employs a 4-2-3-1 at her home club, and it's the same formation she'll be imposing for the first ever national football team. The stalwart position in Gortoleki football is the defensive midfielder; the two defensive midfielders will serve as the heartbeat for Gortolekua's team. Didn't work too bad for the Baptism of Fire, after all, didn’t it? And it brought a draw against the Commonwealth of Baker Park at home. We consider that a win.

Roster

Squad No. - Name - Age - Position - Club
Bolded text indicates starters, unmodified text indicates substitutes.

Goalkeepers
1. Malone Newport - 31 - GK - Kyynel PK (GTK)
12. Piia Heikkilä - 32 - GK - Parakleion Firebirds (TKT)
23. Rigmor Ragnvaldsson - 27 - GK - Tähti Roverit JK (GTK)

A successful season so far has given Rigmor Ragnvaldsson the starting spot ahead of previous starter Malone Newport and third-choice Piia Heikkilä for the Winter Lynxes for Gortolekua's maiden Cup of Harmony. A penalty specialist, Ragnvaldsson's shot-stopping and distribution have improved over the current Ohorekunnia season and the World Cup Qualifiers that he partook in. "Can't believe that I've been given the nod to start these Cup of Harmony matches," Ragnvaldsson wrote on his Chirper feed. "Let's put our hearts out there and leave it all out on the pitch once it's said and done."

Defenders
2. Julio Saarinen - 25 - LB - Tähti Roverit JK (GTK)
3. Staffan Petit - 24 - CB - Voitamatton AJK (GTK)
4. Garland Toivonen - 30 - CB - 1. Turvatyyny TJK (GTK)
5. Kauko Scrivener - 24 - RB - Tähti Roverit JK (GTK)
13. Hodei Østergaard - 29 - LB - Astraalitaso (GTK)
14. Lía Lindsey - 20 - CB - Southern Star (BRE)
15. Víctor Olguín - 29 - CB - fc auringonottaja (GTK)
16. Waldemar Anthonsen - 28 - RB - Voitamatton AJK (GTK)

The starting back four is relatively unchanged for the most part, save for the new addition of Victor Olguín of fc auringonottaja. Dethroning Garland Toivonen to join Lía Lindsey as the main centre-back partnership, Olguín provides excellent aerial coverage to make up for Lindsey's slightly below-par leaping ability. While Lindsey is still considered the more talented of the two (and quite possibly the most naturally talented of this national squad), she still needs to limit her emotions on the pitch and not be so brash. That's where Olguín, who's already made a name for himself as one of the league's most collected players comes in. Even more so than Toivonen. As for the fullbacks, Scivener and Saarinen are still going to have that same telepathic collaboration that they have for their club side.

New faces among the bench include Staffan Petit, a solid centre-back who's good enough to neutralize any defender on his day (even if he has a mistake or two in him). Hodei Østergaard, a would've been a world class winger had it not been for an immense injury, joins the Winter Lynx XI as a powerful, yet slower-than-average, left back known for a powerful free kick. Rounding off the new defenders is Waldemar Anthonsen, a Voitamatton right-back who has the weird condition of being dominant on one side of the pitch, yet liability-prone whenever he crosses into the opponent's half. For attacking-minded opponents, Anthonsen will be pivotal to neutralizing offense.

Midfielders
6. Jessica Partanen - 29 - DM - KftA Lehoi Hegodun (GTK) - (c)
8. Orville Horn - 27 - DM - Päiväunelijoita KUY (GTK)
10. Ivor Esteban - 21 - CM/AM - Sporting Arkamo (ASG)
17. Myra Randal - 27 - AM/CM - 1.FC Goudini (GTK)
18. Karissa Lynton - 30 - DM - Kyynel PK (GTK)
19. Sarah Sierra - 23 - DM - Astraalitaso (GTK)

Following a slew of World Cup qualifiers, the starting midfield may not have changed as much, but the bench has seen some new additions in Orville Horn of Päiväunelijoita KUY and Sarah Sierra of Astraalitaso. Sierra, despite her defensive capabilities and previous work with manager Sanderson, is expected to play more of a box-to-box role instead of holding the midfield. "She's young, why not, you know?" mused an experimenting Sanderson. "Let her have the chance to see what her best role is on the pitch. Let's have a ball with it." Horn, meanwhile, is a solid addition to the national team roster known for his work in subtraction. The dude lives for making football as boring as possible? According to Horn, boring football means no one can take advantage of it, and there's something to look forward to.

Other than that, Jessica Partanen has been promoted to captain following Newport's relegation to the bench, but her partnership with Karissa Lynton as the two defensive midfielders remains as strong as ever. And Ivor Esteban continues to study under Boom Best Eleven midfielder Myra Randal and absorb all the knowledge that he can get from her, because sooner rather than later, Esteban will become Gortolekua's starting midfielder. And Gortolekua's trajectory in the multiversal rankings should only be going up from here, hopefully.

Forwards
7. Darby Innes - 28 - LW - KftA Lehoi Hegodun (GTK) - (vc)
9. Judith Berge - 19 - ST/RW - Tähti Roverit JK (GTK)
11. Catrine Mäkinen - 27 - RW - Tähti Roverit JK (GTK)
20. Drummond Douglas - 30 - ST - 1.FC Goudini (GTK)
21. Andrea Hallman - 28 - LW - Voitamatton AJK (GTK)
22. Gregers Breiner - 23 - ST - fc auringonottaja (GTK)

Following an impressive qualifier campaign and commendable domestic performance, Judith Berge has been promoted to become Gorotlekua's starting striker—and No. 9 following the international retirement of Torcull Allan, who plans on focusing on domestic football. "It's admittedly a little bit of pressure, but I know coach has faith in me for a reason," Berge said following the news of her appointment to the starting XI. "So let's fuckin' have at it, you know?" Douglas, who was Gortolekua's starting striker for both the Baptism of Fire and World Cup qualifiers, believes this is the right step to take given his slowing in speed and his proneness to injury.

While she's got familiar faces in Darby Innes and clubmate Catrine Mäkinen, two new faces join the starting bench. Andrea Hallman of Voitamatton AJK may be slower on the pitch than Innes, but Hallman is one of the smartest players in Gortolekua. Her ability to time a pass or know where to place a cross is unrivaled in the country's leagues, which she hopes to use to her advantage here. And Gregers Breiner is known as a tap-in merchant, but tap-ins are still going to be goals, after all.

More often than not, we're going to be wearing those fashionable home kits in all our matches. Admittedly, the rest of our kits are less than optimal. We're looking to have someone go ahead and redesign our away and third kits. Please inquire with the Gortoleki Football Union if you are so interested in helping us come up with better kits.

Playstyle

Style Mod: +1

Kuraita typically line up in a 3-4-1-2, with the choice of wide players depending on their opposition. Against more neutral to defensive opponents, the left side usually features an offensive player in Adomaitis and the right side a wingback in Legrants or Silveins; against an offensive side (roughly +2.5 and up) they will prefer Żukauskas on the left side and play Adomaitis as a striker. In the back, all three members are centre-backs and play as such; in midfield, they usually opt for a holding and a shuttling midfielder, although all central midfielders are somewhat versatile. Players in general are physically strong and athletic, and tend to work a lot and be competent at helping out on both sides of the pitch.
With the ball, the players on the side sometimes push up to the height of the offensive midfielder depending on the space they are given; all wingers and wingbacks are also very adept at changing directions fast and looking for counters. The playmaker usually stays in the middle of the pitch and looks for options, with the strikers lurking near the goal for the most part.
Without the ball, Kuraita’s wingbacks fall back and operate as a line of five defenders together with the CB’s, although the wingers and wide midfielders can remain a bit more offensive at times. The strikers can press, but the offensive midfielder tends to take a more passive role and falls back into the central midfield. Their defence is somewhat passive, but tries to keep the opponent away from the goal by pushing them away from the box and closing down the centre of the pitch with three central midfielders.

Player roles

Captain
Domantas Vaskevičius ⇒ Jonas Adomaitis ⇒ Mantas Urbauskas ⇒ Mihals Kalninš
Penalty takers (both ingame and shootouts)
Vaskevičius - Urbauskas - Adomaitis - Vilks - Varnis - Livs - Indrašis (in shootouts: continue from most to least offensive position)
Free kicks (direct)
Adomaitis (left, centre), Urbauskas (right), Vilks (backup)
Free kicks (long)
Adomaitis, Indrašis
Corners
Adomaitis
Goalkeeper hierarchy
Kalninš ⇒ Paritis ⇒ Żalgiris

Who is most likely to…

…be Kuraita’s best goal scorer?
Vaskevičius is a cold poacher who will create chances from anything that falls into the box. However, playing as an inverted winger who has a sheer unstoppable drive to the goal and a penchant for free kicks, Adomaitis might rival him.

…end up suspended?
As the man in the centre of the back three and a hulking, massive presence, Darius Stirs has a certain penchant for picking up stray yellow cards to problematic extents. Stanislas Żukauskas, on the other hand, balances his competitive excellence with a short fuse and might pick up a stupid red card outside the game if provoked or frustrated.

…score the goal of the tournament?
The star, the man, the technician, Jonas Adomaitis - and he’ll follow it up with a viral celebration too, probably. Lajals Vilks is a secondary guess, a technical and agile striker with the potential to shine.

…be Kuraita’s breakout star?
In a young team, there are multiple candidates, but the one to watch is probably Lauris Indrašis, a tireless and technically competent central midfielder. More in the background for now are Romanas Rosadas, a gifted but physically limited playmaker, and the relentless shuttler Čenins who made himself the star of FK Ronisala last season.

…attract legions of fangirls?
Audris Legrants doesn’t need to attract them, he already has them. A dashing character with remarkable flowing hair, he has been described by Kuraitan media as “having stepped out of the pages of a 19th century romantic novel onto a football pitch”. And if men with muscles befitting a Greek statue are more your thing, look no further than Andras Varnis.

…double his followers on social media?
That depends on the kind of content you like. Ivars Jonaitis and his FK Arcjuga teammate Vytautas Paritis are known for comedic short videos about their lives as footballers. Miks Fjelgrens is known for his open demeanor online and his photography hobby caught on in Kuraita. Finally, Żaks Silveins’ twii.tur is considered mandatory following for Kuraitan sports journalists thanks to his tendency to stir up controversy over basically anything.

…break curfew and play hungover?
Kuraitans are generally never opposed to some drunken fun, but some are pushing it a bit. Brais Koverlis and Zemgus Baltas are known for having caused some damage to an Arcjuga bar after celebrating their title with Lauvas last year; Magnus Livs is a known party-goer and hobby DJ. And Mindaugas Gazolinš was fined internally after allegedly having played a test match still mildly drunk the day after his 21st birthday.

STADIA AND TRAVEL

Kuraita lacks a true national stadium and will spread its games around three stadia across the country. Locations for each game will be released after the group draw. Thanks to the small size of the country, the cities in which the stadia are located can all be reached within 2.5 hours by car from Arcjuga International Airport, the only international airport of the nation. Unfortunately, flights into Kuraita are still rare due to the recent conflict situation, but with one to two transfers, it should be fairly possible to reach Arcjuga. Alternatively, ship connections into Arcjuga and Vaitspils are occasionally available.

Otjalas stadions (Arcjuga)

Image

Home team: FK Arcjuga
Capacity: 23’640

Kuraita’s biggest football and athletics stadium, FK Arcjuga’s home stadium is located on the banks of Otjala river in a former industrial park. It was constructed in the 1960s and renovated recently, coming along with a reduction of its international capacity as more seating was added. Otja, as it’s commonly known, is located within the transit system of the Arcjuga Metro Area, served by tram lines 5 and 12 as well as multiple bus lines from the city centre and Vaitspils town.

Hosts games against: Brenecia, Eura, Mertagne, Arjunnagar

SEMAK Arena (Krustojnis)

Image

Home team: Krustojnis SK
Capacity: 17’440

Located in Krustojnis, about an hour by car from Arcjuga International Airport and about 1.5 to 2 hours (depending on connections) on the nation’s main train line via Arcjuga Main Station, this is Kuraita’s most modern stadium as it was renovated only a few years ago with the sponsoring money of the SEMAK brewery. Locally still referred to as its old, sponsor-free name of Meżkas stadions (the forest stadium), the SEMAK Arena is small but atmospheric, and Kuraita’s biggest football-only stadium. It is located in an outskirt of the city, a bridge across from the city centre, and is connected to town with its own tram line 6, opened together with the stadium’s renovation.

Hosts games against: Gyatso-Kai, Polkopia, Omerica

Stadions Tomas Ozolinš (Auksturts)

Image

Home team: FK Auksturts
Capacity: 21’490 (national) / 16’910 (international)

Located in the far east of the country, in the hilly town of Auksturts, about two and a half hours by car (or four hours by train and coach) from Arcjuga Airport, this stadium has a reputation of fiery crowds despite its athletics track. Unfortunately, in order to comply with increased security regulations for international games, the stadium (which was constructed in the 1920s) will have to lose its rowdy standing section in the south end, which will be temporarily have restricted access to guarantee safety. Still, it likely rewards travellers with great atmosphere, and a convenient location in walking distance of Auksturts’ charming historic centre.

Hosts games against: Srednjaci, Natanians and Nosts, Maphidon

LANGUAGE NOTE

The Kuraitan language has a few diacritics that are relevant for pronunciation. Writing these is essential within Kuraita; however, in names, they can be left out in writing as a translation convention if you prefer. Here’s a quick reference collection of the ones present in this Kuraitan roster:

Č - pronounced as [tʃ]
Š - pronounced as [ʃ]
Ż - pronounced as [ʒ]

ALL
FOR
NOTHING

(images of dejected Kelssek players after the final whistle of their last qualification match, with tense music)

NARRATOR: “But it’s not the result of the match, it’s knowing that Kelssek are already out of the World Cup. The blow is particularly heavy for this squad, who carry the weight of being the first to miss the finals in seven cycles. While they’ve earned an invitation to the Cup of Harmony, this isn’t the standard they expected, and it touches off a wave of searing criticism and questions from the country’s sports fans. There’s calls for the manager to resign and high anticipation when Football Kelssek holds an emergency meeting to decide Jorge Guardia’s fate.”

(archive footage from SportsInfo news coverage follows)
ANCHOR: Breaking news and we go live to Football Kelssek headquarters where a statement has been released after the calling of an emergency meeting... speaking now is Non-Executive Director-at-Large, Moonbeam Infantino.

MOONBEAM INFANTINO: ...that football really can be a way to bring the world together in peace, harmony, love, health, joy, love, unity, justice, peace, fair play, friendship, glory, moments, freedom, equality, peace, celebration, love, camaraderie, communis-, uh, community, love, global peace, friendship, and overcoming differences... diversity, love, ending racism, violence, freedom, and joy.

(long pause, shuffling of paper)

INFANTINO: It is therefore my privilege to say that in our executive meeting we have reached, after long and careful thought and consideration, a decision that Jorge Guardia has our full confidence to lead Kelssek’s national senior team to face the challenges ahead.

(camera flashes intensify, media begin shouting questions)

INFANTINO: We are all looking forward to a successful Cup of Harmony campaign. Thank you.

[cut to SportsInfo studio]

ANCHOR: And former Kelssek international Matthew Lister joins up in the studio. Matt, what are your thoughts on this decision?

MATTHEW LISTER: What I’d like to say to Football Kelssek is, are you joking?

The Bollonischian National Football Team

The Bollonischian Football Federation

Football is by far the most popular sport in Bollonich and it’s that sport which along with a die hard fanbase also has a good number of casual fans. The attention football on a whole gets in Bollonich is simply unreal as the TPL pulls some of the largest viewership for any TV programme on a whole. Football has not always had this status of high regard in Bollonich. During the medieval ages, the Empire in fact was very critical of football viewing it as an insult to bourgeoisie, pushing for more ‘civilised’ sports such as cricket and tennis. The Empirical rule managed to largely suppress football as a sport, by introducing bans on professional teams and disbanding local leagues. This led to the majority of the working class to partake in other time passes, and sportsmen and women moved onto to other well funded sports.
After the founding of the Republic and inevitable overthrowing of the ruling class, the sporting hierarchy was at its most polarising. Football was largely at the bottom with being a professional footballer being a pipe dream. This however was to change over the decades as foreign motivation in a largely football dominated area meant that Bollonischian slowly started integrating football back into their lives as an essential part. This process despite being slow has resulted in the current following for football which is the largest in the history of the sport in the country.

The Bollonischian National Football Team represents the nation of Bollonich at international footballing events such as the World Cup, Cup of Harmony and Copa Rushmori. The Bollonischian National Team made their official debut at World Cup Qualifying 88 against Al Qurija. The National Team had a very successful campaign in WCQ 88 finishing 5th in Group 6 ahead of teams like Sannyamathland, Rangers FC and North Japan. We also defeated the pot 1 seed in our group, Zwangzug 1-0 away and held them to a 0-0 draw at home. After a very successful World Cup Qualifying our side travelled to Græntfjall to participate in the Even Frostier Cup where we were paired into Group P with Baggieland, Barunia and hosts Græntfjall. In our first game we defeated Baggieland 2-1 however two consecutive defeats in the next matches sent us straight out of the Even Frostier Cup. After taking part in the 80th Cup of Harmony the Bollonischian footballers made their way to Mytanija to participate in the Copa Rushmori. Starting the tournament in style with a 4-4 draw against Darmen the rest of the tournament went downhill we suffered defeats to both San Ortelio and Sargossa failing to qualify for the Round of 16. The National Football Team returned to international foray with the 89th World Cup Qualifiers aiming to repeat our heroics from the 88th edition. And repeat our heroics we did, as we had a fabulous World Cup Qualifying campaign which was of a very crazy nature. We not only improved on our performance two year ago, we also caused major upsets defeating group winners on the last matchday. The team showed its metal in our meteoric rise in international football finishing fourth in our qualification group making important improvements. Heading into the end of the WC cycle, we travelled to Sylestone to take part in the 81st Cup of Harmony. Having been drawn into a rather difficult group with WC88 participants Jeruselem, WC22 winners Sarzonia, Trolleborg who would go on to win this Cup of Harmony and Hapilopper. We had our work very much cut out in this group, however we failed to deliver on the expectations of the fans and board. It was a catastrophic display for a nation eager to be battling at the front. Losses to Jeruselem, Sarzonia and Trolleborg weren’t exactly the best results too. The impact of this set of bad results and very slow progress would be very deep in the team. Bollonischians are an impatient bunch and this is clearly visible in the Football Federation, which embodies a very pragmatic approach to the managerial staff of the National Team. Opting to replace the entire the managerial staff would’ve come as a surprise for most fans however the appointment of a more experienced manager could definitely massively benefit the team. Or those were the expectations going into Moteudi’s very first tournament the Copa Rushmori to be held in Hispinas. Expectations were fairly high for the national team going into this Copa Rushmori, we knew we had the quality to reach deep into the tournament and with the guidance of new manager Moteudi fan’s were excited to see what was to come. The bad luck for us, possibly begun at the point we were drawn with heavyweights in the form of the hosts Hispinas and also Astograth. The group was rounded up by Isle Noire a team many fans considered to be a punching bag for the rest of us. These cocky Bollonischian fans however were soon to be proven wrong. We suffered from an absolutely humiliating group stage losing all of our matches. The most embarrassing game was our 6-3 defeat against Isle Noire, which once again raised eyebrows over the managerial choice. The Football Federation however were quick to dismiss any rumours regarding the future of Moteudi claiming that the Copa Rushmori is only a start to the journey of the national team and that the players will require time to get settled into this new unit. Moteudi's efforts to rejuvenate the team mainly failed in the Qualifying campaign despite some bright sparks and therefore will be important to see whether the team can bounce back in the Copa Rushmori. That however was not to be the case as the team's lack of regional success continued with all eyes once again turning to the upcoming World Cup cycle. The WCQ on this occasion was a momentous success for the side having been competitive for the entirety of Qualifying, just missing out on playing in the playoffs finishing fourth in the group. Regardless it was a promising show by the Tigers who will be looking to built on this very form in the CoH.

Squad

Goalkeepers
#1 Sean Halliday (35) SC Lagos
Halliday is the outright starter for the national team, receiving tough competition from the younger keepers however the coaching and technical staff is always ready to back him with his hunger for victory and impressive skill. Halliday’s debut competition for Bollonich in the Copa Rushmori didn’t go as he would’ve hoped, however still being new to the outfit with a completely new technical staff, time needed to settled down is well earned.

#33 Sirigu (25) Vreton United
Sirigu is a talented young goalkeeper who’s often referred to as the future great keeper from the nation, this used to be a present however with Halliday’s decision to represent Bollonich this situation quickly turned around. With a top tier keeper like Halliday still very much in his prime, game time has gotten difficult to get for Sirigu. However such a natural beast between the poles combined with his will to win and succeed there’s no doubt that he’ll be getting a good chunk of game time.

#41 Frederico Valvi (23) Pythora Mariners FC
Valvi is a young prospect for the future for the Bollonischian national team who’s been closely matched with Sirigu in terms of qualitative skill, however the earlier technical staff seemed to prefer Sirigu. That has not appeared to be the case with Moteudi’s team however he will need to consistently put up top notch performances when given the opportunity. He’s also made headlines with his move from Avondale to Pythora Mariners FC in Tikariot a nation very closely situated to Bollonich, where he could maybe get more support.

#99 Tamni Aubrey Earl (24) Vreton City FC
Dawning the famous 99 shirt will be Vreton City’s Tamni Aubrey Earl who’s position in the national team remains one of question, however he’ll be eager to assert himself. Earl is a successful young goalkeeper with his childhood club Vreton City having lead them to a TPL title. Aubrey however has tough competition on the national level having to contend with quality young keepers such as Sirigu and Valvi.

Defenders
#18 Bobby Burns LB (27) SC Lagos
Burns is a rather aggressive minded fullback ready to put his skills towards the front of the field to test as well. He might not be the most solid defensively however that’s easily balanced with his capabilities and contributions to attacking play. Bobby has been an important part of SC Lagos’s outfit who’ll be as focused as ever to have the best qualifying season possible.

#24 Hadden Goodman LB (25) Vreton United
Goodman is the more reliable player than Bobby by some distance, he’s solid defensively and does what he needs to going forward. This variety of styles between the two players allows the management to switch them around based on the opposition to see what works. Goodman has always been a reliable member of the national team squad despite not possessing that sharpness in his game that Burns possesses.

#17 Winnifred Dallas LB (23) Blich
Dallas is a young, promising player who’s already shown glimpses of his talent at Blich. Despite his promise, his inclusion in the shortlist for Qualifying is quite risky given he didn’t make the cut for any youth tournaments in his time. Moteudi’s technical staff along with Bollonischian scouts however trust him and this young prospect shall be very eager to prove his skill in whatever opportunity is given to him.

#2 Gerard Ingit (C) CB (35) Vreton City FC
The 33 year old captain Ingit is a solid centre back who despite his lack of pace makes it up with his experience due to which he knows exactly where to be when. The current management not only believes in Ingit and also trusts him to lead this team of more young players than experienced one. Ingit still has the desire to win which will definitely keep him going to do his best for the national team.

#3 Mitchell Stevenson CB (27) Fermont United
Stevenson despite being a relatively new member of the national team has managed to find a home in Bollonich. He’s a tall, capable defender who’s very solid at the back and rarely makes mistakes. His transfer to Fermont United could be seen as a move building up a very wrong and capable Fermont side to compete in the TPL. Despite a disastrous Copa Rushmori, he and his teammates will be hoping for a better Qualifying season.

#19 Jeremy Ploy CB (31) Vreton United
Ploy is a driven, stoic character often described as a man of few words who does his talking on the pitch. Being a player at his peak, he will not be enjoying the place outside the usual starting XI. He’ll be even more determined to regain that top spot to make the most of his time at the top of his game. The coaching staff will be looking to switch around the defensive structure to not only keep players fit but also give others and more importantly some of the younger players some opportunities where we could see Ploy shine.

#37 Pierce Patrick CB (24) Vreton City FC
Patrick was first introduced to the national team setup with his surprising inclusion in the Copa Rushmori squad as a backup centre back. He is young, and good with the ball at his feet however lacking in physicality and game awareness which should be something he makes up over the years. Being a player straight from Bollonich’s youth teams as well, it’s no surprise that he’s made such quick progress and could be competing for major game time.

#55 Stephen Powell CB (23) Maihar United
Powell is one year younger than Patrick with both of them being very good friends. Powell has not had the spotlight on his that Patrick has however he’s managed to create a name for himself with his performance in the TPL which seems to be especially noteworthy. Powell is a solid centre back, who unlike Patrick excels most in difficult situations as he can bring out his inner defensive mindset to do whatever to prevent the opposition from scoring a goal.

#63 Klingto CB (32) Fermont United
The inclusion of Klingto could be seen as a step backwards by the management however it could be rightfully argued that this is in fact a good step backwards. Klingto doesn’t only bring a calm and experienced head to the table but also provides necessary depth in the situation a leader or experienced defender is required. Klingto is a very capable centre back who’s experience and physical style of play is by far his biggest assets.

#4 Sylvester Lindsey RB (32) East Akusha CF
Lindsey serves a crucial role in the team, he doesn’t shy away from opportunities to go forward however he’ll also rarely overextend the defense or make an error. He’s a very reliable player in most positions and his experience makes him one of the most important players in the team. He has also displayed this skill in the TPL with East Akusha bringing them lots of success.

#22 Lexie Rimmer RB (23) Real Pablo FC
Rimmer is a player produced by Real Pablo FC’s competitive academy, which is trying to maintain footing with some of the better funded academies such as City’s. Rimmer has shown good promise in the Di Bradini Cup and the Copa Rushmori. She’ll be given a much more important role for the Qualifying season and she’ll be hoping to make full use of it.

#47 Wade Moreno RB (34) Fermont United
Similarly to the decision made in terms of bringing back Klingto, the same has taken place for Wade Moreno who has found a place once again in the national team shortlist. He is past his peak however is still a very capable right back who can have a very good impact on the side. He’s an experienced right back who’s defensively very solid.

Midfielders
#5 Domenic Law CDM (24) FC Maihar
Law is a young, agile midfielder who likes to focus on his defensive duties and provides the side with a much needed anchor in midfield to hold it together. His presence in the team is often seen as a breath of fresh air as he is very capable in making things happen. Despite his position in the team not under much competition, players like Fleming and Burns will be looking to get some game time too.

#12 Alexis Fleming CDM (24) Fermont United
Fleming retains her position in the national team following her call up to the squad for the Copa Rushmori. She is a talented, defensive midfielder who is capable of bringing some very new, interesting ideas to the table. She however needs to improve on her solidity in defense, if she is to challenge Law’s position in the team. Her position in Fermont United does not necessarily assist in her development as in a challenging squad as Fermont she lacks in game time.

#29 Ted Burns CDM (21) West Akusha CF
Burns is a youth prospect straight out of the squad for Bollonich’s U18 team, who’s shown great promise in his displays for West Akusha CF and the national team. Being a player cultivated by West Akusha’s academy he follows a fixed style of play being very solid defensively and focusing on possession and accurate passing. He’s a very disciplined player who could be the next top tier player in the position for the Bollonischian national team.

#37 Naoki Kondo CM (30) Haligonian
Kondo’s rise to the level of a national team level player seems to have solely taken place after he left Bollonich for Haligonian. Having travelled to Quebec and Shingoryeo the previous management basically forgot about him. With the current management in place, his success in Quebec and Shingoryeo was quickly picked up and his inclusion in the national team was basically a no brainer. Despite having not been involved with the national team for as long as the others, he hopes to have a good impact on the team.

#8 Ed Douglas CM (23) SC Lagos
Douglas’s position in the side has quickly risen in stature, from being a young prospect he’s gone to a confirmed starter and shown great growth. He’s a dominant midfielder who can absolutely control the game on a good day. He also possesses a very agile stature making him a very important piece in Moteudi’s puzzle. His contributions with Lagos also makes him particularly noteworthy as a player.

#6 Miles Hum CM (25) Vreton City FC
Hum can be best described as resourceful having a brilliant understanding of the game who can make the best of the place at which the game stands. His position in the team however seems to be under threat with the introduction of a much experienced player in Hondo. Hum will need to fight hard to show the management that he deserves to have Hondo’s place and he’ll be determined to put up his best performances when given the opportunity.

#20 Archer Wheelock CM (21) Alnio
Wheelock has been a member developing under the reins of East Akusha and the national team for some time having been with the team for one cycle now. Wheelock however recently made an important career decision deciding to head to Chromatik club Alnio to continue his journey in football and only time will tell if he will have the success he desires. He’s a young midfielder who can at times be slightly overeager in terms of shooting.

#36 Luana Derricks CM (21) West Akusha CF
Luana Derricks is another talented 19 year old in this team filled with talented youth players. She’s a more defensive player than Wheelock however manages to make a good impact on the team when brought on. Being of the West Akushan style she too has been brought up in a very possession focused system and tries to find the perfect passes instead of going for outlandish ones.

#29 Kelly Johnson CM (22) Maihar United
The 20 year old player from Maihar’s inclusion in the shortlist has come as a surprise to many. She’s a capable midfielder however the question of whether she would be national team quality has struck many critics and casual fans of the team. The management however has decided to take a gamble by taking her own and they’ll certainly be hoping that this gamble pays off.

#10 Bryant Marshall CAM (24) Hagejoki
The 22 year old star decided to make a surprising move from San Ortelio, moving to Hagejoki a Græntfjaller club closer to home. After announcing his decision to leave he was rendered without a contract for some time before finally signing for the Græntfjaller club. Marshall is a very skilled attacking midfielder who has very good contributions going forward having the capabilities to orchestrate entire attacking sequences. He is also very good and accurate in terms of shooting and is not shy of making long ranged efforts.

#26 Tad Rios CAM (31) Vreton City FC
Rios is an experienced midfielder crucial and known for his cameos and small displays of immense skill. Rios has been the backup for Marshall for some time now and he has always been able to fill the role very well. Rios is a more possession based and does not tend to shoot or attempt shots as much as Marshall.

#82 Lynda Botterill CAM (21) Vreton United
Lynda is an immensely talented attacking midfielder with good ball control and fair overall play. Her inclusion in the team is no surprise as it was clear from ever since she took part in the U18 World Cup proving her massive talent. The management will be looking keenly at her growth over this Qualifying campaign.

Forwards
#9 Dennis Perry (VC) ST (33) Fermont United
Perry is a skilful and ruthless striker in front of goal who barely lets an opportunity slip through his fingers. He has been a huge reason for the national team’s recent success in international competitions. Perry has successfully become one of the leaders of the side dawning the role of vice captain and with rising young forwards, he will surely have a huge hand in guiding them.

#21 Linden Hayes ST (23) Signal Danin
Hayes is a young Bollonischian striker who has the ability to make it big like his mentor Perry. Playing under the new setup and system he’s not only found himself getting more game time but his performances have also taken an uptick. He has grown to be more composed in front of goal and can handle the pressure of big matches. The management will have high hopes for this young promising player over the period of Qualifying.

#13 Gia Knott ST (30) FC Maihar
Former Grearish and FC Maihar striker, Gia Knott’s place in the team is once she’ll be happy to retain. Her performances with FC Maihar have not only kept her side in the TPL but also taken them to the mulitversal level by qualifying for the Challengers Cup. She’s a resourceful striker who can be used as a good backup in case of the absence of a player.

#41 Linnie Huxley ST (31) Macarthur City
Linnie Huxley as a player’s success on a club level is solely in the Tumbran League as her signing for Macarthur City from Fermonto allowed her to make a mark on the national team. With her very competitive and promising displays for Macarthur the management were absolutely sure that they wanted to call her up for the national team to serve as a super substitute of sorts. She is very versatile in relation to her role and can play the roles of the finisher as well as a provider.

#73 Hazel Andrews ST (23) Vreton United
Hazel is a fresh face to the national team having gotten called up like a lot of other Maihar United’s players. Hazel Andrews is a young, 21 year old, striker who has really good knowledge on where to be in which positions however needs some refinement in the shooting department. The management similarly to other young players will be closing monitoring her development over Qualifying.

#7 Stuart Schmit LW (25) Vreton City FC
Schmit is an experienced player of the squad despite having a number of years in front of him. He however has struggled somewhat under Moteudi’s new system which utilises two strikers instead of one and two wingers. Despite this alternative setup from the new management, Schmit is still a very capable player who is very skilled in terms of crossing and passing and can do fairly well in terms of shooting.

#32 Luvenia Brandon LW (28) Chenoworth Rovers
Luvenia Brandon is a player who has spent time overseas developing her game and the results are stunning. Her time in Chenoworth Rovers has not only helped her move further in her career but she’s also developed her game a lot. She will be required to adapt to a more aggressive position of Left wing at the national team level though which she should be able to achieve quite easily. She’s an agile, and skilled left winger very capable with the ball at her feet.

#11 Buck Moreno RW (21) Fermont United
Buck Moreno is a fast, rapid winger who’s dribbling skills are pretty much incomparable to anyone else in the team. He’s very often shown how rapidly he can make his way around defenders with little to no effort. His role on the right hand side of the field has been huge as he now finds himself in a tough spot with a requirement to adapt is he’s to stay relevant. He is more than capable of adapting given his still very young age to make it into the first team.

#38 Zeph Doctor RW (22) East Akusha CF
Doctor is a young, talented right winger who has a very similar game to that of Moreno. Being an East Akushan player he is a strict disciple of the playing style where he’s required to take every opportunity to put a ball into the box. Being a young player, Zeph will have major opportunity to grow into a better player which is certainly what the management is hoping for.

Playing Style
The team has evolved massively from Likhijo’s balanced style of offensive play. With sweeping changes in the formation and the roles of individual players, strategy has taken a huge turn. Moteudi the new manager hasn’t hesitated in completely resetting the team’s ethos. He’s modified the formation into a suitable 4-1-2-1-2 narrow formation. This works on the idea and basis of greater midfield control which he prides in his team having. Moteudi has also made significant changes to the attack up front, shifting to two strikers replacing the wingers used by Likhijo. This lack of players up front on the wings brings the abilities of Burns and Lindsey to the forefront in moving the ball forward and putting in some crosses. This also is the main justification for picking Burns over Goodman as we’ve seen how both are very similarly matched in terms of performance. The defensive structure has also hence seen some change as Doenic Law the player in the defensive midfielder position will have to play a more important role at the back of the field to provide the solidity needed. In the midfield, Douglas and Kondo’s main and basically only task is to give us the strong hold in midfield so as to control possession and outplay our opponents. Marshall will act as the link between the midfield and attack looking to feed some balls into the strong forward line. Marshall will also see his roles changed as he will take upon the role of the provider than the second hand man of Perry in front. The role of this second hand man has now been taken up by Hayes who’ll be eager to have a good start in the team, cementing his position.

Well That Sucked

After a disappointing qualifying campaign Milchama came in for a "reset" but much like the England test team there is only so many people who are probably good enough to play internationally so the reset mostly means taking the bench players and moving them to the starting lineup. Sure the always disappointing Itamar ben Johansson finally left the team and Colm Interlasskoti became a real boy but beyond that this is basically the team. That said, we're excited about the CoH and we figure we'll do alright although, based on history, the Warriors will probably finish a disappoint third in the group stage and this will continue to all go to hell. Maybe next World Cup we'll get a real reset, until then, I got nothing. With that cheeriness here is our disappointing roster:

Coach: Darryl Lamarein - Lamarein was pro in something other than sports, namely an accountant, when he was asked to take over the finances of Mongol FC, then a third division side. After getting the finances in order he also noticed they tended to make more money and play better if they used different tactics with different players. He eventually convinced the GM to let him try that for one game. They won 6-0. They did it the next game, they won 6-2. Lamarein was then made coach of the Mongols where he led them to straight promotions. Then people got angry at him and had him manage the national team assuming that he would get paid for a do nothing job. Then the Isolation ended and now he's doing things. Who knows what's up?

Lamerein plays the traditional Milchamian 3-3-4 with a +3 modifier.

His starting eleven:
GK: Miles Inthracam - Surprisingly the only Alexandrian in the squad. Helped Great Alexandria to the most recent title.
D: Dollard Foster - Big man who is known for vicious tackling. Also a decent header of the ball.
D: Ittai Witson - Captain. While only 25 has clear leadership abilities and the ability to love which is more important than any singular footballing skill. Also, incredible defensive instincts which is why he's on the team.
D: Eloise Johnson - Her ability to switch between midfield and defense has been invaluable. In this "reset" she moves back to defense where she plays for her club Chaialim.
M: Leetal Fenet - CM - Really good at picking out a pass to the right player at the right time. Engine of the offensive midfield.
M: Gal Waver - Box to box central midfielder who is known for winning the ball back and recycling it very efficiently.
M: Morris Maris - Fast tricky winger. Plays a touch too far forward for the system but was moved to the starting lineup because something needed to change.
F: Dee Schneider - RF - Fast, tricky, good handles, scores a lot for his club. Finally got the starting nod for World Cup 90 over Mattityahu.
F: Marc K. Floren - Not related to Marc J. Floren despite the name. Greatest finisher in the modern Milchamian league.
F: Holden Flomes - Prototypical back to goal center forward.
F: Elliot Flok - CF/RF - Pure scorer. Has moved himself into the starting lineup as one of the few Milchamians who didn't suck during qualifying.

Subs:
GK: Ishtvan Martin - Second string
GK: LaDonte Crenter - Third string. He also occasionally plays left back.
D: Dallas Hunter - LB - Shoots to kill. Very aggressive outside back.
D: Kent Kells - CB - Back up centerback sometimes gets a lot of playing time and is often the first name off the bench if there are any defensive frailties.
D: Jay Flimt - RB - Also aggressive but usually in tackles. Led the MFL in cards last year.
D: George Trois - The third George. Better than the first two Georges
M: Amy Cekarn - CM - Defensive mid. Comes in for defensive solidity.
M: Kelly Filimitov - LM - Lefty dead ball specialist. Also very good at crosses.
M: Tiam Hotonon - RM - Led the Invading Crusaders to a surprise 2nd place and got himself into the national team picture.
F: Colm Interlasskoti - RF - Finally moved from young kid to actual player. He also became a forward at some point. Good for him!
F: Mattityahu - Mononymed man. Very weird. Great free kick taker.
F: Marvin Gorek - LF - Defensive forward. Does score some goals but known for his work rate and creating transition through good pressing.
F: Burt Burner - All forward positions. - Very fast. Poor control skills.

Other stuff:
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:

Choose my goalscorers: Y
Godmod scoring events: Y
RP injuries to my players: Y
Godmod injuries to my players: Y
Give yellow cards to my players: Y
Give red cards to my players: Y
Godmod other events: Y

Anything goes, I'll roll with it. I'll probably create more chaos if you let me because that's how I roll.

So What Now?
By Rami Niblick in Emberton

AFTER a long qualifying campaign, a heartbreaking loss in the first leg of the playoffs, and a collapse when chasing the tie in the second leg, Krytenia find themselves once more in sadly familiar territory - awaiting their opponents in the Cup of Harmony. The first dawn of the Brelk-Xeral Erv era has promised much, but there is clearly work to do, and that work will again need to be done in the WCC's second tier tournament.

This time, though, they are far from alone. BXE's young Dragons side will be testing themselves not just against those rising through the ranks, but a surprisingly large cadré of fallen giants who find themselves blinking, somewhat dazed and bewildered, in less familiar surroundings. No less than six of the fifty-six teams confirmed for the tournament have lifted the ultimate accolade, from five-time champions turned also-rans Starblaydia (who we have somehow dragged down to our level), through Cassadaigua, crowned champions back when Krytenia and The Holy Empire hosted World Cup 50, past Electrum and Eura, and all the way to Sarzonia (who haven't been relevant for some time if we're honest), and Audioslavia (insert maniacal laughter here). It's safe to say with that half-dozen in the mix, this won't be an easy win for anyone, and that's without mentioning the likes of Chromatika, Kelssek, Mercedini, and Poafmersia - all of which are ranked inside the top thirty and therefore should, by all rights, be on their way to the big dance rather than slumming it.

Krytenia, if the noises coming from HQ are to be believed, aren't here to lift the trophy. BXE has insisted that this is a learning experience; a chance for the younger players to experience big tournament play and come back stronger for the upcoming CAFA tournament and World Cup 92. Not that anyone's writing off the tournament, mind; the target is, apparently, reaching the last sixteen.

If you think that sounds like a smokescreen, you're probably right. One need only look at the expression on the manager's face as it all fell apart in the Dazza Dallas Arena to understand that yes, they absolutely wanted to qualify for the World Cup. This is all careful window dressing for the media, managing expectations and reducing pressure on the team. Behind the scenes, the Dragons will absolutely be looking to lay waste to any poor souls unfortunate enough to stand in their way. This, here, is what the BXE Era is all about; growing the side, developing skills and building the team whilst keeping them away from the more toxic elements that have sometimes poisoned promising squads. The manager is careful not to put anyone on too high a pedestal, nor denigrate anyone too much for errors; all have their part to play, and all must work together to prove they are more than the sum of their parts. Proof positive of this are the photos and video clips from training camp prior to the first leg against Jeruselem, with the likes of Remy Seydoux and Sonny Chiesa playing their football with beaming smiles on their faces. BXE has become, in essence, a father to their men, a far cry from the aloof and distant Richard Valens.

So where does that leave the Dragons? Well, if the draw is kind, it'll leave them next door, in Mertagne. Krytenians will travel north in absolute droves if this is the case. As for what to expect in terms of performance, expect them to come into every match with no fear in their eyes and confidence that they can take on whatever is put before them. It will be two decades since Ross Green lifted the Cup of Harmony for Krytenia, and you would imagine that Cande Montalban would absolutely love to do the same this year. He'll certainly have the backing of the rest of the squad, BXE, and the fans, in his quest to do so. Onward!
"I revel in the nonsense; it's why I'm in Anaia."
