World Cup of Hockey 45 [RPs/results]

Postby Schutzenphalia and West Ruhntuhnkuhnland » Thu May 26, 2022 10:45 am

Welcome to Schutzenphalia and West Ruhntuhnkuhnland! (If you find that too much of a mouthful, you can use the shorthand and call us The United Iron Principality of Schutzenphalia and West Ruhntuhnkuhnland, Incorporating The Supreme and Irredeemable Crownlands, The Vast and Valorous Archipelagic Grand Duchy, The Most Precious Domain of The Antschelter Islands, and Also The Nine and Three Quarters Lesser Counties.)

OOC comments if you spot a mistake or have a question are welcome, but please direct them to the OOC thread.

Quick links

The first step to your participation is to post a roster. Even if you do not think you will have time to RP, please consider posting a roster as a basic courtesy to everyone else. The roster should contain at minimum:

  • Your players. An ice hockey team has six players on the ice (one goalkeeper, two defensemen, three forwards – left wing, center, right wing) at any one time, but a squad for a tournament will typically have two or three reserves at each position; a squad size of 20 players and 3 goalkeepers is standard, though you may RP whatever numbers you like.

  • A style modifier, from -4 to +4. This dictates how attacking your team is (-4 being most defensive, +4 most attacking). It will influence goals per game but not affect the overall outcome or margin of victory. You may change this modifier once during the group stage, and once again during the playoffs, by sending a TG to the host at least 1 hour prior to cutoff.

  • RP permissions. See the guide to sports roleplaying if you’re new to sports roleplaying. You may customize your permissions as you wish, but a suggested version is included here which you can copy and paste into your roster.

Code: Select all
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my Scorers: Yes/No
Choose Scoring Events: Yes/No
Godmod Scoring Events: Yes/No
RP Injuries to my Players: Yes/No
Godmod Injuries to my Players: Yes/No
Assign Penalties to my Players: Yes/No
Eject my Players: Yes/No
Godmod Other Events: Yes/No

Style Modifier:

Please read and respect other users’ RP permissions, and contact them directly if you are not certain. In addition to individual users’ RP permissions, the following tournament-wide permissions apply to all participants:

  • No pandemic, COVID or otherwise, may be introduced to the host nation or spread to any other teams.
  • No destructive violence towards the host nation's people or infrastructure.

In addition to the above, you may include other relevant information in your roster such as details about your players or coaching staff, uniforms, team history, tactics guide, favorite ice cream, etc.

Once you have posted your roster, you may begin roleplaying. These roleplays may take any form, such as newspaper articles, narratives, or images. Audio/visual roleplays must provide a transcript. Please keep images to a reasonable size. For RP purposes, it will be assumed all games will be played under WCoHF [OOC: IIHF] rules; a summary of them, and comparison to RL NHL rules, can be found here.

The format of the tournament will involve all teams being drawn into 8 groups of 6 teams, and playing a single round robin (playing every other team in that group once) at arenas in Schutzenphalia and West Ruhntuhnkuhnland. The top two teams from each group will progress to the Round of 16 playoffs, which will be single elimination. All games will be played to a result, meaning ties will be decided by overtime, and tied overtime games by shootouts. The procedures for overtime and shootout will run according to the rules listed here.

Group Draw

Very conveniently, we had 32 ranked teams and 16 unranked teams, so the ranked teams were seeded into 4 pots of 8 teams, with the 16 unranked teams randomized across the last 2 pots. These pots were sorted into groups of 8, which were then further randomized.

Welcome to Schutzenphalia and West Ruhntuhnkuhnland. The United Iron Principality is a medium sized, landlocked nation in Rushmore, known for its picturesque alpine scenery, elaborate pageantry, and abundance of long compound words. From high snow-capped mountains to slightly less high snow-capped church spires, Schutzenphalia and West Ruhntuhnkuhnland is a land welcoming of tourists and offers sights, sounds, and ski slopes in abundance, from the Imperial Museum rich with cultural treasures looted from oppressed colonial backwaters to the intense underground rave scene in the abandoned warehouse district of the capital city, Uberwienerschnitzelstadt-am-Ruhntuhnkuhn. The country's north and west are dominated by the imposing Schutzenphalian Alps, where World Cup and Olympic qualifying races have taken place, while in the flatter east, the West Ruhntuhnkuhnlander plainlands are the country's breadbasket, rich in golden corn lovingly farmed by toothless serfs. Allow their pitiful mewls for bread and freedom to be drowned out by the lash of the knout as you tuck into a sumptuous dinner of Uberwienerschnitzelstadteruberwienerschnitzel accompanied by a wheat beer or golden hued wine. Castles and stately homes dot the countryside, but despite their reputation for fusty formality, Schutzenphalians are adapting to the modern world, with many nobles turning their estates into tourist ventures with vacation housing, exciting rapid rides on the teeming rivers that run down from the mountains, and hunting of elk, deer, wildfowl, and poachers.

Each group will play all of its games at the same arena (OOC: in keeping with how the group stage of the IIHF WC is generally organized). The games will take place on the same day, staggered as following:

On each MD, the first listed game will be at 1300; the second game at 1630; and the final game at 2000.

OOC: this is IC only! OOCly, all games will be scorinated at the same time, with a daily cutoff of 1300 UTC.

Ice hockey is not the major sport in the United Ice Principality (skiing, field hockey, and soccer are preferred) but there should be reasonable local interest. Except local attendance to be between 500 and 5000 per game, depending on high profile teams, exciting match-ups, Rushmori interest, and other factors. The remaining attendance can be supplemented by visiting fans, with tickets available at affordable prices.

OOC: If you RP your fans attending games, please do not RP major crowd violence. Anything else goes.

Group 1: Ebenbühel
Nachtkrapp Hall (cap. 13,500)

A multi-purpose arena that has been used for concerts, ice skating displays, and competitions in indoor sports such as handball and gymnastics. It is named after the Nachtkrapp, a mythic raven-like creature of Schutzenphalian legend. Ebenbühel is known for its Abbey, which belongs to the Prickelheim Order of Catholic monks and dates back to the 12th century, though the current building was extensively rebuilt in High Gothic style following the original structure's destruction in the Forty Three Years' War. The city is near to Lake Oberzeiss, one of the country's largest lakes and known for its dragon boat races and bracing New Year's Day swim tradition.

Group 2: Neuntal
Doppeleissportzgortzeinkellerhall (cap. 10,000)

A dedicated ice sports facility best known as the training facility for the national speed skating team. Given how bad the national speed skating team is, unsurprisingly, they've jumped at the chance to host a different sport. Neuntal is a small mountain city in the Schutzenphalian Alps; it will experience the most extreme temperatures of any host city, with genuinely warm weather during the sunlit days, but freezing colds in the wintry nights. The city lies on the edge of Detzlhof, a manorial estate that has converted some of its grounds for recreational use, with mountain biking, hiking, and kayaking trails.

Group 3: Koprivvac
The Sportsdome (cap. 11,100)

The Sportsdome is a multi-halled indoor facility with a modular structure, capable of hosting multiple events in its smaller halls, though for the tournament its main arena has been expanded to give additional seating space. Koprivvac is the largest city in, and administrative capital of, the Vinkovšić region of West Ruhntuhnkuhnland. The culture here is quite different from the Schutzenphalian metropole, with the people fiercely proud of their folk traditions and somewhat resentful of what they perceive as their imperial occupiers. An imposing nuclear power plant overlooks the city, making use of the wholly artificial Lake Creuzwig created in the bombed-out shell of the former parliament building.

Group 4: Stenjerica
Eagle Ice House (cap. 10,000)

The Eagle Ice House is one of the oldest arenas being used in the tournament. The ugly concrete statues outside it and huge red star adorning its entrance hall link it back to its past as the major sports facility of the Ruhntuhnkuhnlander Socialist Republic. Stenjerica is the largest city in West Ruhntuhnkuhnland. Economically booming thanks to the nearby aerospace facility and biomedical research corridor, it is the most diverse city in the United Iron Principality, with as many mosques as churches and a vibrant cultural scene. And simmering political discontent from the oppressed Ruhntuhnkuhnlander minority, but try to overlook that part.

Group 5: Uberwienerschnitzelstadt
Sunhall (cap. 16,300)

A new purpose built arena which will become an ice sports training facility after the tournament. Uberwienerschnitzelstadt, lying on the mighty Ruhntuhnkuhnland river, is the capital and largest city of Schutzenphalia and West Ruhntuhnkuhnland. Rich in culture (opera, ballet, museums), history (Viridian and medieval architecture mingling with Schutzenphalian Renaissance and Dominikan constructions), religion (Catholic only; though the city boasts the country's four largest cathedrals, minarets are banned within city limits) and industry (from the old meatpacking district to the modern Tech Cluster), there is something for every kind of visitor here. The city is also hosting Group 7, at a different arena.

Group 6: Lahnshafen
Green Bay City Hall (cap. 16,000)

A suprisingly large arena for the provincial town of Lahnshafen reflecting the major investment in tourism made by city officials. Lahnshafen is sometimes known in Common [English] guides as Lahnshafen By The Sea, which given Schutzenphalia and West Ruhntuhnkuhnland is a landlocked country should arouse immediate suspicions. Indeed the "green bay" of the arena name is a painted half-moon of concrete. Lahnshafen is a major sunbird town thanks to its clement weather conditions and bubbling natural spas; many elderly Schutzenphalians spend their winters here enjoying the warmer weather, and during the season the population swells up as much as 250%, only to be abandoned in the sticky heat of the summer months.

Group 7: Uberwienerschnitzelstadt
Olympik Stadion (cap. 17,450)

The biggest stadium being used in the tournament and home of the national team. The city is also hosting Group 5, at a different arena.

Group 8: Eppelborn
Royal Independence Arena (cap. 15,000)

The Royal Independence Arena is not named for the royal family but rather Royal oil company (in Schutzenphalia and West Ruhntuhnkuhnland, sponsorship by petroleum companies is increasingly controversial). Eppelborn is admittedly a city that has seen better days. Once a thriving metropolis thanks to the natural gas field, its depletion has led to an exodus of industry. The city is trying to rebuild itself as a tourist locale, including passing bylaws legalizing gambling and building hotel-casinos, while converting the now-useless marshy swampland where the old gas fields lie into an extensive artificial rainforest. Results have been mixed and the city is still marked by high rates of unemployment and crime, as well as being a noted drug trafficking hotspot.

Nova Anglicana World Cup of Hockey 44 Roster

Head Coach: Sherm Willis, DC Oilers
Style Modifier: +1.5
Captain: Darren Gordon
Assistant Captains: Sean Harper, Marc Broussard

1st Line
RW Ricky McCoy - hard worker who is harnessing raw talent, athletic build
C Sean Harper - steady, firm, even-keeled, leader, but his on-ice abilities in passing and shooting are excellent too
LW Andre Messier - sharp-tongued Acadien chirps at his opponents, but silences them with his wicked shot and skating abilities

2nd Line
RW David Manning - Capable of a four-point performance one night and looking lost the next, but finding his groove
C Alistair McDaniel - McDaniel is an artist with the puck on his stick, able to find both the net and his teammates, but he can get pushed around a little
LW Francois Coderre - Coderre is a shooting machine, shooting early and often, but the good thing is, it often goes in the net and he varies his shots well

3rd Line
RW Cedric Caldwell - a sniper, incredibly fast with a good body
C Peter Frazier - passes well, speedy with an eye for finding holes in the defense
LW Aaron Shelton - quick with his legs and his shot

4th Line
RW Garrett Brock - hustles, plays good defense, not afraid to lay a lick, there to wear people out
C Jean-Marc Belanger - passes well, moves well, not a scorer, but has good intangibles
LW Alain Marchand - small and speedy, tough to keep up with, big part of this hustle line, decent shooter

Pair 1
Marc Broussard - Broussard is an incredible talent, a two-way player who is at home on both ends of the ice, has become more of a team player
Matt Morrison - Morrison is tall and lanky, excellent at harassing opponents without a lot of physical contact, better than average shot

Pair 2
Stephen Barnett - Barnett is a big body, but not as slow as he looks, has a heavy shot, not afraid to defend his teammates, has become a leader
Patrick Drake - not a big guy, but pretty quick, heads up player with a positive disposition and excellent stick checking abilities

Pair 3
Daniel Ford - Ford is a hulking bruiser who can take your head off with a shot or with a check, but not particularly fast or skilled
Chris Kelley - Kelley is also a physical specimen, will fight if necessary, blocks plenty of shots

Goaltenders
Darren Gordon - technically and tactically sound but athleticism isn't top-tier
Joey Perry - a big body, blocks the net well, but can be beaten by skilled players

Kriegiersien Ice Hockey National Team

After failing to qualify for the Olympics (men's competition) there was only one option:
Replacing the coach of the men's team and sending the same male players, instead of the women who at least reached the quarter finals.

Jim Knopff, conductor and inspiring coach of a small isles kids team that won the National Junior Championship as underdogs, became the new coach and even brought along one of his players from the kids team (The Isles Ragamuffins) and made him captain.

After the nationwide mandatory nudity was canceled, the team will be the first Kriegiersien National Team starting with fitting jerseys instead of the old black standard rags that were used before for every Kriegiersien athlete in every sport and competition.

Oateria national hockey team, the Oateria Badgers (OAT)
Head Coach: Levery Mickelsor, Mikksembri Marauders
Style Modifier: +3
Captain: Poklin Vantovic

G Ivlar Matrees, Feltov Freezers. Good goalie and doesn’t let a lot get past him in terms of slapshots, but is constantly on the move within the goalie’s box and falters with a consistent assault.
LD Notar Netar, Wenbale Ripcords. Fast skater who can get the puck quick.
RD Adez Wattel, Mes Roges Roosters. Stays near the goal a lot and is usually the last line of non goalie defense for his team.
RW Ovil Edrith, Zerdase Eternals. Called “the dirtiest player in Oateria”, he has some quality within but was a noted controversial starter.
LW Poklin Vantovic, Raziel Battlers. Clean, all around player who can lead a team.
C Ardity Wendez, HC Vakum. Not very good at skating or goaling, but is a god in terms of passing, nicknamed the “Middleman” due to this quality.

Oateria’s uniforms range from a White/Blue/ to a Black/Blue/White. Mickelsor’s strategy plans on the puck being on the opponent’s side a decent amount, and a lot of puck movement.

The Ranorian National Ice Hockey Team
Or, as we affectionately refer to them: The Ranoria Mammoths!

Should my opponent RP first, they can...
Choose my scorers: Yep!
Godmod scoring events: Yep! Feel free to be creative with it!
RP injuries to my players: Yes, but contact me first
Godmod Injuries to my players: Yes, but contact me first
Suspend my players: Sure! The whole team is prone to fighting, but Vrabel, Kahn, and Matthens in particular
Godmod suspension events: Yep, hit me up first if you don't mind. The Krauts like to fight, especially those above
Godmod other events: Sure, but get in touch with me for anything crazy.
Special note: Not that I'm going to tell you not to write it, but anything about the COVID/virus won't be acknowledged. There is no COVID in Ranoria, just like there is no war in Ba Sing Se.

Capacity: 19,500

Located in Dietrich, Ranoria, this is the home stadium of the Dietrich Revolution, and is one of the nicer stadiums in Ranorian Hockey.

Coaching Staff
Coach: Alram Isenbrand, 34 years old
Assistant Coach: Trace Woodard, 32 years old

Style:
The Mammoths play well disciplined defense and rely on a pair of veterans in Joel Weidman and Augustin Kahn (whom has many all stars under his belt) to be a reliable presence on the offense, while Frederick Vrabel speeds around and goes for the shot on goal more aggressively. That said, if old timer Richart Matthens is in the game, he'll only be there for a short spell due to his age. He's still effective in short bursts and is a future hall of famer, but odds are he's just in there to knock some youngster who thinks he's tough down a few pegs.

Vrabel and Kahn are also, coincidentally, enthusiastic fighters. Expect these boys to get into quite a few tussles.

The Mammoths have long been a disappointment to fans at home. After gridiron, hockey is the largest team spectator sport in the country. Head coach Alram Isenbrad is undoubtedly on the hot seat, with a veteran roster without much youth across the board.

Long time starter took a back seat a season ago, and is now played sparingly in terms of minutes, but a bit more liberally if a throwdown needs to happen. His age was certainly a hinderance, and his running mate Augustin Khan is slowing down as well. Third time national teamer Frederick Vrabel is now the focal point of the offense. He hit a bit of a decline in the four years since Ranoria's last entry, but had a shockingly, even historically dominant campaign in the most recent season to win Ranoria's MVP.

However! Alram's emphasis has always been a defensive one, and he did manage to reel in a few high-performing, fast young players last go round. Ezekiel Huber is key here, a six time all star at now 30 years old. He's a big upgrade over the former starter - a remarkably average Arnold Stahl. At goalie, Dareus Burnett is one of the better men at that position in Ranorian hockey, significantly better than his backup Andreas Annalena. Last time out, despite a good bit of excitement over Alram Isenbrand's taking over the team and the signing of Frederick Vrabel, our boys on ice didn't do to well - we're hoping that gets turned around in this edition.
Fan of football, the Murican kind. But soccer is cool too! Just not really my thing. C(:^D/-<
I go by Ran. Unless, of course, you want to type out Ranoria. That's your decision.

Ko-oren - WCOH 45

Team Colours: Green, blue, yellow
Demonym: Ko-orenite
Nickname: Dragonflies, Green-and-blue
Style Modifier: -5 (-4 for this tournament, as per tournament rules)
Jerseys: Home, Away
Stats: Here

Goalies
G Anedel Aemel (29) - Egevea Islanders
G Per Janszoon (22) - Launott Polar Bears
G Kristo Laaksoog (22) - Straudum Ice

The Alacia era is well and truly over. A revolutionary new generation of goalies is taking over, with Janszoon as the most prolific player of the bunch. Janszoon was the starter in WCOH 44, but the staff opted for a more experienced Aemel, at least for the start of the tournament. In the new generation, we also find Laaksoog (and not selected: Zudalu, Lepelaar), which suggests there's something innovative in the way goalies are trained in the professional era on the mainland - Aerellen has none of these exciting young players!

Defencemen
Line 1
D Aiane Auvia (29) - Aevanna Scouts
D Aennirin Ehoni (25) - South Aevanna Storm
Line 2
D Aedeti Aenec (21) - Noordrug Bi-state
D Riquard Winterhaag (20) - Launott Polar Bears
Line 3
D Alaguna Aeniva (34) - Launott Polar Bears
D Assanor Aiaros (26) - Lamau-Dartha Hunters
Substitute
D Aelelia Ailane (31) - Aevanna Explorers-Mariners

There are barely any surprises here. Nedergard misses out on selection for the first time in a while. Auvia and Ehoni have performed at a consistenly high level all season. Aeniva and Aiaros are better defensive options, lacking the explosiveness of the first line. Aenec and Winterhaag are creative and a little more error-prone, but make up for that in offensive production. Ailane is mostly selected to take over for either Aenec or Winterhaag if that line is too suspect.

Forwards
Line 1 (Scoring line)
LW Kjell IJsberg (28) - Noordrug Bi-state
C Aorale Enibel (32) - Egevea Islanders
RW Woutre Heerekornuit (22) - Straudum Ice

Line 2 (Balanced line)
LW Bren Groenstege (28) - Serevne Northerners
C Aelocu Aurtinia (22) - Serevne Northerners
RW Aerine Aorifi (28) - South Aevanna Storm

Line 3 (Checking line)
LW Aone Aenec (22) - Aevanna Plains Wanderers
C Aorinne Aelloma (22) - Aevanna Plains Wanderers
RW Aewen Ailise (33) - Aevanna Plains Wanderers

Line 4 (Defensive line)
LW Aiaca Ailinia (30) - Egevea Islanders
C Ainoph Eriren (31) - Aevanna Scouts
RW Aenva Avdu (20) - Aevanna Scouts

Substitute
C Hallady Buck (30) - West Coast Blizzards

The initial list of 13 players was shuffeled around a bit to create lines according to a playstyle, but also match ages and experiences, and to try to get the same team on a line as much as possible. It was a puzzle, but the staff made something good out of it. The first line is just the three biggest names at their position in the league. IJsberg has been a commodity for years, Enibel has not lost his touch at all, and Heerekornuit took the scene by storm after debuting for the Ice two seasons ago. The second line has two Serevne Northerners, bolstered by Aorifi who's also no unknown factor for the national team. Line 3 is all Aevanna Plains - and yes, they're a physical group. Line 4 has two Scouts and Ailinia.

The professionalism is getting more noticeable. Not only is the coaching staff full time, they've also introduced the more 'global' sides of ice hockey that have been largely absent from the Ko-orenite league so far. Most noticeably: different tasks for different lines. In the league, it's still often seen as a 'depth chart' thing: the best players on line 1, the worst ones on line 4 (or 3, if your roster isn't large enough). Forward-thinking teams like the West Coast Blizzards and Launott Polar Bears - and now the national team - are employing lines for a certain play style rather than purely skill.

Powerplay
Aenec - Ehoni - IJsberg - Aurtinia - Heerekornuit

Penalty Kill
Auvia - Aiaros - Ailinia - Ailise

The Ko-orenite league cracked down on fighting to speed games up. Don't be surprised if the Dragonflies don't respond to a call to arms. Ice hockey is a regional (but not necessarily small) sport in Ko-oren, limited to frigid Aerellen, the temperate (but cold) northeast, and parts of the unwelcoming west coast. Venues are limited, and Aerellen's largest venue hosts multiple games per day while the season is on, so speeding up games and keeping them plannable is key. Languages used by the team are Dutch and Aerellen (Ko-orenite). Aerellen names are easily recognisable, they start with vowels, featuring many Au, Ao, Ai, Ae combinations at the start of each word. Tarrashall is also a culture that you'll run into, famous players from there include Hallady Buck and Yaller Nyan, and they often play for the West Coast Blizzards.

The league has made the move from amateurism/semi-professionalism to fully professional over the last year. To get there, some teams were moved, some merged, others folded while new teams (in different locations) sprang up to fill the void. This has left part of the fanbase bitter and resentful: their team might have moved, a 80+ year old rivalry might have disappeared, etc. The rest of the fanbase has been very welcoming: more of Ko-oren can enjoy the fastest team sport in the multiverse. Still, the league didn't exactly expand beyond its usual borders (Aerellen, the northeast, and the north coast). There's also the matter of Banija's team in Schemerdrecht: while opening up the city to ice hockey, it has taken away expansion opportunities.

GOALIES
G Savolainen, Harri (21) - Loki HC (CKJ)
G Booker, Ríkardur (23) - Knights (CKJ)
G Löfgren, Saku (31) - Caspinberg (CKJ)
Enter this year's tandem for the World Cup of Hockey. Headlined by Caspinberg's veteran starter, Saku Löfgren, who possessed a .919 SV% and a GAA of 2.30 last season, the Doves are expecting to rely on Löfgren for the tournament. Fighting for the backup spot will be a battle between Ríkardur Booker, the 23-year old Knights goalie, and Harri Savolainen, the 21-year old Loki HC goalie. Both of these youngsters are solid options, and could even unseat Löfgren from the starter should Åkerlund choose so.

Expected Depth Chart:
Löfgren
Savolainen
Booker

DEFENCEMEN
D Finne, Sigmund (30) - Knights (CKJ)
D Eho, Patrik (32) - Lukko HC (CKJ)
D Bisgaard, Robert (28) - Loki HC (CKJ)
D Borg, Gunder (27) - HC Jaspar (CKJ)
D Reinholdsson, Sírnir (22) - Northstar HC (CKJ)
D Lindgren, Urho (30) - Caspinberg (CKJ)
D Hagtvedt, Øystein (25) - Thornsson (CKJ)
Unlike the goaltending or forward core, the Caplosteinite roster decision revolved around utilizing experienced/veteran CKJ players along with an influx of a select few youth. In this case, Sirnir Reinholdsson is that select youth, as the Northstar HC standout has recorded 41 points in 76 games played this past CKJ season. Additionally, Gunder Borg returns to the Doves' roster after previously being left off out of international friendlies due to a lingering upper-body injury. The 6'7", 220 pound defenseman is certainly a force to be reckoned with on the back-end, and he possesses excellent skating to make up for his thunderous frame. Expect these two to anchor the Doves' second pairing.

Fighting for the 3rd Pairing positions are Robert Bisgaard, Urho Lindgren, and Øystein Hagtvedt. All three of these defensemen are excellent two-way defensemen, are possess a fair amount of skill both offensively and defensively. However, due to Hagtvedt's lack of experience on the international stage, it will most likely be a duo of Bisgaard and Lindgren holding down the third pairing.

Lastly, and most chronologically out of order, are Sigmund Finne and Patrik Eho. These two defensemen are your prototypical offensive-defensive defensemen duo. While right now, they're debatably some of the more talented defensemen the CKJ can offer, it is clear as to why the Doves decided to go with an older more proven option. Sigmund Finne is a 3-time Caplosteinite champion, while Eho is a 2-time. It is obvious that both Finne and Eho will be the Doves' top defensive pairing.

Expected Depth Chart:
Eho
Finne
Borg
Reinholdsson
Bisgaard
Lindgren
Hagtvedt

FORWARDS
LW/C Christensson, Mattias (26) - Loki HC (CKJ)
LW/RW Lager, Teppo (19) - Knights (CKJ)
LW Dalvinsson, Einir (27) - Ulfrak HC (CKJ)
LW Abrahamsen, Gert (26) - Kollifstein (CKJ)
C Laine, Matti (25) - Loki HC (CKJ)
C/LW Ljósálfsson, Hlödmundur (24) - Knights (CKJ)
C Takala, Matti (28) - Caspinberg (CKJ)
C/LW/RW Vígbergsson, Tístran (27) - Northstar HC (CKJ)
C/RW Baärdssen, Tim (19) - Lukko HC (CKJ)
RW/LW Karjalainen, Ooni (19) - Lukko HC (CKJ)
RW/LW/C Heiskanen, Lauri (24) - Sabres HC (CKJ)
RW Sigurdbjörnsson, Hródmar (22) - Northstar HC (CKJ)
RW Ebbesen, Torben (30) - Thornsson (CKJ)
The high-flying offensive style of the Caplosteinite team revolves around a solid centre core and quick wingers. As a result, a lot of the players listed above are agile and fast players who can think on the fly.

At left wing, Einir Dalvinsson leads the way. The 27-year old has been a mainstay on the Beserkers' roster, and this past season notched 23 goals and 52 points in 80 games played. A gifted offensive talent, Dalvinsson has been slotted to start on the Doves' first line. Coming in after is the dynamic and gifted 19-year old Teppo Lager. A native of the northern region of the Kolmosaäri, Lager comes from a background of hockey players, following in the footsteps of his father, Miska Lager, and has torched his way in the CKJ. This past season, Lager, playing for Lukko HC potted 31 goals and 60 points in 83 games played. He is one of the most talented players on this World Cup roster, hands down. Next up are proven CKJ talents in Mattias Christensson and Gert Abrahamsen. While just entering their primes, both players still have untapped potential but can be relied upon in a more checking role due to their physicality and defensive prowess.

At centre, it is a complete toss up between five players. Matti Takala is a surprise addition to the team as the 28-year old has rarely seen international ice time. It is expected that Takala will headline the penalty killing unit of the Doves and will play more of a leadership role to an unproven team. Hlödmundur Ljósálfsson, despite just being a downright awesome name, is a dynamic and all-round great forward, who is able to play in any given situation. Look for Ljósálfsson to be the first line centre for the team.

This is where the numbers crunch becomes real for the Doves as both Tístran Vígbergsson and Tim Baärdssen are equally suited for the second line centre position for the team. Many have speculated that due to Baärdssen's talents, as seen in the CKJ, that he may end up playing on the wing of Vígbergsson. Both of these players are speedy, intelligent, and see the game at a different level in their own unique ways. Vígbergsson is more of an offensively-minded playmaker, who utilizes his 6'4" frame to create opportunities for his teammates. Contrast to this, Baärdssen relies on his speed and shot to create opportunities for his team. A lot of times, Baärdssen will also utilize dekes and skill moves in order to bypass defenders and create space for himself. Lastly, it is much expected that Matti Laine will be the fourth line centre for the team. The stalwart centreman has played a speedy and well-rounded game for Loki HC, and should fit well with the Doves' identity.

At right wing, it is clear that Ooni Karjalainen, who is heavily linked with a big move to one of the Big Three clubs in the CKJ, should headline the first line. The agile and large forward surprisingly is an offensive talent as well. Expect Hródmar Sigurdbjörnsson and his skillset to slot in on the third line. The remaining roster spot to be fought between Torben Ebbesen and Lauri Heiskanen. Ebbesen is more of a gritty and checking forward whose veteran leadership and ability to set a tone for a game would be needed for the team. Alternatively Heiskanen is a known utility forward, who can play up and down a line-up at any position competently.

Expected Depth Chart:
Dalvinsson
Lager
Christensson
Abrahamsen

Ljósálfsson
Vígbergsson
Baärdssen
Takala
Laine

Karjalainen
Sigurdbjörnsson
Ebbesen
Heiskanen

Yannik Strasburger (38 - HC Jaspar)
    Sverker Borgström (47 - Thornsson)
Captain: Matti Takala
Alternate Captains: , Patrik Eho
Playing Style:
The Doves rely on a high-flying, offensively-minded press on their opponents. As a result, the team forechecks hard, and creates their opportunities through either turnovers, or sustained pressure. Defensively, the Doves play a mix of zonal and man-to-man coverage, utilizing their forwards to create opportunities for defencemen to regain possession, a goalie to make an easy save and to smother, or a break.

#EndOfAnEra - that's the new theme of TJUN-ian sports, right? It started with Basketball but has now spread to other sports, like Baseball and Football and while Gridiron is having a soft reset, everyone knows that the Ice Jaguars, ranked 18th in the world, will most likely be changing personnel once this campaign is over. That isn't exactly a bad thing for a sport many consider to be lacking behind the other big boys in TJUN-ia, but Ølson Rasmussen knows that this time will certainly be his most important no matter what. The Captain, Christian Kalsters, has already made it known that WCoH 45, here in Schutzenphalia and West Ruhntuhnkuhnland, will be his last...and many believe he won't be the only one out the door. With 5 games to try and make this ending as magical as possible, let's see what we can do on this final hurrah.

The Fall of Frederick, Prologue

Vrabel smashes Grayson in the middle of the ice and takes the puck from him! Cuts towards the goal, he's going to have a shot to win this thing! Pulls the stick back and there it is! Frederick Vrabel wins it! Frederick Vrabel has led his team to a championship berth with now his seventh hat trick on the season!

The superstar forward ripped off his helmet, maintaining his balance on the ice while he kicked his head back and screamed into the chill air of Specter Industries Arena. With his teammates in a frenzy around him, he tossed that helmet into the stands of the adoring crowd.

He was screaming something, red in the face, but it was drowned out by the veritable storm in the arena. Whatever this was, it was one of the most dominant performances across a season in Ranorian hockey history - and Vrabel was showing no signs of slowing down going into the final.

"And the Augustin Khan MVP trophy goes to..." Vrabel stood up, "Frederick Vrabel!" He pumped a fist in the air and the crowd swooned. His ascent to the podium was drowned in that applause, and he snatched the trophy unceremoniously from the presenter, hoisting it in the air as the stage lights gleamed off both that trophy and the now two rings on his finger.

"They said my prime was over! They said I was washed!" He roared into the microphone. "No more! We're just getting started! And after taking a cycle off, I'm imploring the NHC: Let us back into the World Cup of Hockey! I'm ready! We're ready! And it's time to show the world!"

More applause. More shouting. There had been discussions about rejoining international competition, but with the most electric man in Ranorian Hockey making his case, that would push them over the tip of the iceberg, if you will.

A Second Resurrection: After Withdrawing from World Cup of Hockey 44, Ranoria Is Coming Back

Image
And with a monstrous new nickname that should communicate the team's physicality!

Everyone, meet the Mammoths. Like our soccer national team, the hockey crew has decided to re-brand themselves to separate from the more customary "Krauts" with an animal not seen in many nations outside of Ranoria. It's also seen as a spiritual revival of the team, after the first revamp involved signing a couple all-star level defenders, forward Frederick Vrabel, and head coach Alram Isenbrand to limitted success.

With that out of the way, what inspired the change?

After frankly embarrassing showings in each of our ventures into the WCoH, the the Association deemed it advisable to just shut the whole thing down. Hockey has always been a traditional powerhouse sport in Ranoria, and when it couldn't match up to gridiron's lofty success (4 championships between the NSCF and World Bowl), well, they pulled the plug. Hell, among the major sports, its arguably been our worst national team. In four seasons of WCoH participation, Ranoria achieved a positive GD just once and a winning record once as well. Never have they finished better than 3rd in their group, and they finished 7th and 10th in their last two forays.

Ranorian World Cup of Hockey Team "Success"
Tournament Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
WC40 10 4 3 3 21 23 −2 11
WC41 10 2 4 4 17 20 −3 8
WC42 12 3 1 8 25 28 –3 11
WC43 11 5 0 6 21 17 +4 16

Ranoria has even managed to qualify for the IBC playoffs and recently reached the quarterfinals of WBC 54 despite those sports traditionally getting less viewership at home. (Especially basketball, sheesh) But the decision to pull the plug may have been ill-advised. With the diamond's Krauts' success, baseball has officially surpassed hockey in annual viewership.

So, with some help from our reigning MVP (you'll see his plea later) and pushes from the once-exciting young coach Alram Isenbrand to give him one more shot, Ranoria is coming back to the World Cup of Hockey. Can we do better than in years past?

Fan of football, the Murican kind. But soccer is cool too! Just not really my thing. C(:^D/-<
I go by Ran. Unless, of course, you want to type out Ranoria. That's your decision.

Ice hockey is the most popular sport in Elejamie, followed by football/soccer (both are acceptable in Elejamie) and rugby [union], In fact, the men's national team - nicknamed the Ice-a-phants as of 2021 - were one of the best teams in the multiverse, having made the World Cup of Hockey finals four times in four consecutive competitions; winning two (29th edition against Gregoryisgodistan and 31st edition against Valanora) and losing two (30th and 32nd, both times against Valanora), as well as two bronze medal games; although the B-team won a gold medal in the men's ice hockey at the 12th Winter Olympics, they're considered a different team and as a result their achievement is not counted alongside the three WCoH wins. They were also been one of the best teams in the tournament, very nearly making it out of the group stage in their inaugural tournament, making it to the quarter-finals in their second, winning the bronze in their third and staying in the top ten in rankings since the 29th edition (and top 3 since the 30th WCoH), even nabbing a third trophy in the 35th edition. However a disappointing and controversial run in the 38th tournament saw them withdraw from the competition in anger for a few editions (with former WCoH vice president Ed Peak even stepping down from his role and retiring from the public eye until his death in 2020) and their runs in in the 41st and 42nd editions were uphill battles to try and return to relevance. Fortunately, a surprise fourth star at the 43rd World Cup of Hockey as well as a silver medal at the 44th edition have proved that they may not be entirely irrelevant just yet.

Home to the Davenport Dockers - the most successful team in the ENIHL (Elejamian National Ice Hockey League) - and the national team. Built in 1992 to replace Dockside Stadium, which was eventually demolished in 1995, Davenport Stadium is the largest ice hockey arena in Elejamie, with a capacity of 18,500. The stadium was originally known as the Davenport Stadium but it also spent a brief spell in the early 2000s as the Rapid Beer Co. Stadium. Eventually, it was renamed the Declan Madgwick Memorial Stadium just in time for the start of the 2015/16 season, in honour of famed politician and diplomat Declan Madgwick (1927-2015).

For the record: In the northwest of Elejamie, the term "stadium" is used for any building which hosts a professional sports team even if they don't play on a pitch.

Built in 1989, the HomeFiller Arena is also known as the Coventry Arena, especially in situations where HomeFiller isn't sponsoring the event in question. With a total capacity of 17,000, it is also home to the Coventry Puffins; the backup stadium for the national ice hockey and basketball teams; home to the junior and U-18 ice hockey teams; and home to the Coventry Nets basketball team. It entered a sponsorship deal with furniture store HomeFiller in 2013.

Choose my Scorers: Yes
Choose Scoring Events: Yes
Godmod Scoring Events: Yes
RP Injuries to my Players: Yes (but nothing too serious; one person at a time and they can't be out for anything longer than two games. Killing is definitely out)
Godmod Injuries to my Players: Yes (see above)
Assign Penalties to my Players: Yes (but try not to make my players seem dirty, especially since Cerin Meloten and Harrison Blackburn are two of the nicest players on and off the ice and Stacy Saunders is more interested in getting points rather than getting himself into trouble)
Eject my Players: Yes (one ejection per match with a one game suspension and they have to serve their suspension before another player can be ejected)
Godmod Other Events: Depends on what it is (fighting I'm OK with and gave a list of people likely to fight in the "Everything Else" spoiler) but I'd recommend TGing me if you've got any other ideas

  • "Keh-reen Mah-loh-tahn"; "Ah-lah-YEHM Mahn ees-hoh-kee teem".
  • Stacy Saunders is still a guy, if anyone's wondering. So, if you do mention him in your RP, make sure you say "he", "him" and "his" instead of "she" and "her".
  • In the event that any of my players interest you and you want to sign them, please tell me which one you want, which club wants them and all the details.
  • Please get back to me with RP info by 8pm BST. Otherwise, I'll go ahead and put my own stuff in.
  • My main enforcers are Lupe, Carlos Sierra, Ethan Swinburne, Mike Keller, Francisco Solano and Bill Judge (who was Elejamie's main enforcer during WJHC8). The only players that don't fight are Stacy Saunders, Cerin Meloten and Harrison Blackburn. Everyone else can fight, just not as often as those first guys I've mentioned.
  • Elejamie will wear their alt kit on MD1 and either the quarter-final or the semi-final if they're not the home side for the QF.
  • Although "Carpio" appears on his jersey, Kiko Carpio is usually on a full name basis when he's being commentated on. I won't complain if you just call him "Carpio", though.
  • Danilo and Felipe Barajas are twin brothers, with Danilo being the oldest by about five minutes.
  • As Francisco Solano may be retiring from international ice hockey at the end of the tournament, there will be some matches with Kiko Carpio as fourth-line left winger instead. If my opponent RPs first they can choose whether or not they can do this.

The Story

Efnakia, conceptually as a country, does not really understand the sport of ice hockey – to the point where the Efnak word for the sport, “ssebuf”, literally translates as “ice game”‚ being the only sport of anything remotely resembling relevance in the country played on ice. The puck flies around on the ice, goals are scored, saves are made, penalties are dished out, and at the end of the game, somebody wins. That’s about as deep as it gets. This team is, on paper, not good. It is comprised entirely of amateurs from the local league in the Highlands, the only part of the country where ice hockey is played. The coach is literally the backup goalkeeper. However, they traveled to the AOHC in the Busoga Islands, entirely on a whim, as a sideshow to the AOCAF Cup in Jabal Akhdar, and only went and won the whole thing. So now they’re here, at the World Cup of Hockey, and far, far out of their depth. All knowledge of hockey strategy, positioning, and tactics has been desperately researched in the days prior to the tournament and thrust upon the team – but nothing can stop them from playing the no-holds-barred attacking hockey that the Highland Amateur Cup sees during the short Efnak winter, and they will ride that style regardless of the results.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:

Choose my scorers
Choose scoring events
RP injuries to my players
Assign penalties to my players – more often than normal, as the players’ grasp on the rules is… tenuous
Eject my players – see above
Godmod other events (TG/DM me if they're interesting)

(Also available for contact on the NSSports discord)

Notes:
When abbreviating first names, "Ss", "Cc", and "Dd" are all Efnak letters and should be treated as such e.g. "DF Ss. Kafatocc".

Ice Hockey in Le Choix: Like all sports in the Theocracy, players were chosen from a pool of citizens who showed an aptitude for the sport from a young age. Ice hockey has been one of the newest sports in the Theocracy, with the Ligue de Glace having run for only ten editions. As the Theocracy isn't a particularly cold nation, all play within the Theocracy are done in indoor arenas, with most of the facilities being in the Capital city of Espoir du Ciel. Four clubs call the city their home, while two are in the nearby city of Lumière, two in the city of Gelée, and one each in the small towns of Gardienne and Jardin. The Ligue de Glace has been dominated by two of the Capital clubs, Les Loups d'Hiver (The Winter Wolves) and Les Ours Polaires (The Polar Bears). The Chosen play more of a suffocating defensive style, electing to use counterattacks to score just enough goals to be relevant; nobody in the Ligue de Glace play offensive hockey. The Players
Goalkeepers
GK Mathias Adnet, 26, Les Ours Polaires
GK Florent Boudreaux, 28, Les Loups d’Hiver
GK Napoleon Arthur, 24, L’Avalanche
GK Fabrice Poullain, 22, Académie d'Ours Polaires

Mathias Adnet is the biggest reason that the Ours Polaires, or Polar Bears, have been near the top of table lately. The heir apparent of longtime Ours Polaires player Justin Foix, Adnet has some issues in big-game situations (two Game 7 defeats in the semifinals of the Coupe de Glace that led to the eventual champion win proves that) but is proficient enough in regular play.

Florent Boudreaux is a one-time Coupe de Glace MVP after being the main keeper on Les Loups d'Hiver's run to the Season 9 title in Year 531 Post-Jump. Florent is a more aggressive keeper who likes to meet would-be scorers head on, using his size to stop their advances. Napoleon Arthur has been playing ice hockey since he was 11, one of the citizens that were chosen for the sport from such a young age, leading to his knowledge and instinct of the sport being very formed.

Fabrice Poullain is here to learn. The WJHC star deserves the opportunity.

Defensemen
RD Cécile Lamar, 26, Les Ours Polaires
RD Régine Tailler, 29, Les Pingouins
RD Diahann Loiselle, 24, L'Avalanche
LD Clarita Carton, 31, Les Ours Polaires
LD Lotya Hedin, 23, Les Loups d’Hiver
LD Andree Breaux, 31, Les Pingouins

Cécile Lamar is the Captain of Les Ours Polaires, and is one of the shrewdest in the sport in the Theocracy, weaving in and out between attack and defense with ease, while Clarita Carton is more of a pure defender, doing not much more than pushing the puck to the center.

Régine Tailler is a solid second-choice right defenseman, providing a physical presence when needed and one of the best when it comes to Penalty Kills, while Lotya Hedin is more of a hybrid type that can also play on the attack on penalty plays. Diahann Loiselle is more of a raw prospect, having been chosen for ice hockey only for the last three years and here to gain valuable experience; Andree Breaux provides good locker room presence.

Centers
C Heloise Tourigny, 33, L’Avalanche CAPITAINE
C Susanne Guiton, 21, Les Ours Polaires
C Michelle Burdin, 28, Les Loups d’Hiver
C Timothé Robineau, 20, Académie de l'Avalanche

Heloise Tourigny is the heart and soul of this squad, and one of the oldest players at more than thirty years of age. Most Chosen retire from sport around 32, so she is nearing the twilight of her career and enjoying being a member of L'Avalanche, traditionally one of the most offensive teams in the Ligue de Glace. Tourigny is a solid distributor of the puck and can surprise opponents with shots from range. Susanne Guiton is more of a pure defensive center despite being only eighteen; Michelle Burdin provides a solid body, not really specializing on anything but decent at everything.

Timothé Robineau will be around for many tournaments to come, he's here to soak up all he see.

Forwards
RW Prewitt Forton, 27, L’Avalanche VICE CAPITAINE
RW Josette Mousseau, 25, Les Ours Polaires
RW Suzanne Dauphin, 22, Les Loups d’Hiver
RW Victoire Baillairgé, 19, Académie d'Ours Polaires
LW Myriam Magnier, 25, Les Pingouins
LW Rayder Valliere, 29, L’Avalanche
LW Adélaïde Le Sueur, 26, Les Glaciers
Prewitt Forton will likely be the leading scorer for La Lumière, possessing great skills on his feet and a decent short-range shot to boot. Myriam Magnier is the Captain of Les Pinguoins and more of a passer.

On the bench, Josette Mousseau and Suzanne Dauphin are here to just gain some experience, Mousseau better in transition and Dauphin being more of a player working off of plans; Rayder Valliere is a good hybrid winger who can play far back if needed and Adélaïde Le Sueur provides solid minutes off the bench, being someone who's coming up in the league.

Victoire Baillairgé is the most likely of the three from WJHC to have any meaningful minutes.

PP Unit 1:
Forton-Guiton-Magnier; Lamar-Hedin.

PP Unit 2:
Forton-Guiton-Valliere; Lamar-Carton.

PK Unit 1:
Tourigny-Valliere; Lamar-Carton.

PK Unit 2

National Ice Hockey Team

Of all the Cordian teams, this is probably the best relative to their competition. Coming off a quarterfinals run in the last World Cup of Hockey that featured Cinderella fratricide against Le Choix, followed by an unlikely win in a massive snowstorm against hosts Quebec and Shingoryeo, the North Stars lost a close game to Siovanija and Teusland to close out their run. That's not even mentioning their incredible finish in the group stage; victories in the last four games, including a 2-0 win over Cassadaigua, coupled with Chromatik losses in each of that nation's last four, put the Cordians into the play-ins. More recently, the Cordians experienced heartbreak as the combined team experienced a 5-4 overtime loss at the hands of Efnakia in the AOHC Quarterfinals. Following that, the men and women went their separate ways to the Olympics, where each side managed to qualifying to the Games proper. The men advanced to the play-ins, only to lose to eventual champions Waisnor, while the women took an overtime win in their play-in, then upset Valanora 2-0 to advance to the semifinals. There, they lost to the Vilitan Union, but made it up with a 2-0 victory over the Huron League to take bronze. The Olympics reaffirmed the skill of the Cordians in hockey after their miraculous run in the last WCoH, which the North Stars will certainly be hoping to repeat, coming into the tournament as a 3 seed.

References to "the league" are references to the CIHL, the professional Cordian hockey league.

Vosun is a force on both offense and defense for East Fjord , blocking a lot of shots every game and cutting down shooting angles very effectively. Her two-way ability has secured her a spot on the first line of both penalty kills.

Center - Randolf Karlsson
Age: 25
Team: Gilded City Golden
Karlsson can do two things: win faceoffs and fire massive shots. Luckily, he's very good at those two things.

Right Wing - Rurik Dirsson
Age: 25
Team: Cordasfjord Crusaders
Dirsson is usually one of the league's best playmakers, and it's a great help to his Crusaders, a top-division CIHL team.

Third Line - Forwards
Left Wing - Magnus Bjornsen
Age: 22
Team: Kersson College
Bjornsen is an incredibly skilled player who just graduated from Kersson College, not having signed yet with any team

Center - Martin Kordsen
Age: 21
Team: North Bay Lightning
Easily the best younger player in the Isles, and with perhaps the best skating skills at all levels, Kordsen signed with the Lightning right off his 18U local team, where he was dominating. Now the best player on the Lightning, Kordsen led the team to a AAA Division promotion last season.

Right Wing - Signy MacLeod
Age: 22
Team: Jutland Riveters
MacLeod was the best playmaker in the college league last season, and has been referred to as JU's "quarterback" because she pretty much runs offensive zone play.

Fourth Line - Forwards
Left Wing - Bergonund Olafsen
Age: 27
Team: White River Eagles
Olafsen is a grinder, and his line has the best forecheck on the team, largely thanks to his determination in battles, and his size. See Olafsen coming in behind you and you'll cough up the puck like the skinny kid coughing up his lunch money.

Center - Will Egilsen
Age: 28
Team: Thor's Rest Thunder
Alternate Captain
Egilsen spends most of his time in the offensive zone, not because he creates offense, but because the forechecks he runs are spot-on.

Right Wing - Tryggve Eriksson
Age: 26
Team: Jutland Whalers
Eriksson is at his best battling in the corners; he rarely comes out without the puck.

Defense - Pair 1
Halfdan and Ivar Leifssen
Age: 26
Team: Jutland Riveters
These twins are both over six feet tall and they have the hardest shots in the league. They're major offensive contributors for the Riveters because of their shots, which are dangerous from nearly anywhere.

Defense - Pair 2
Eric Walker
Age: 29
Team: East Fjord HC
Alternate Captain
Walker plays very well in Cordia's man-on-man scheme and is not afraid to play physically. The biggest hits in the game often come from him.

Freydis Svensen
Age: 27
Team: Lakeside Warriors
Svensen excels at every method of shot prevention: blocking, lifting the stick, contesting the puck, and so on. When she marks a player, they rarely score.

Defense - Pair 3
Haakon Haraldsen
Age: 20
Team: Kersson College
Haraldsen's shutdown defense in the college league has turned Kersson into a force to be reckoned with this past season.

Svein Svensson
Age: 21
Team: Mountainview Typhoon
Don't laugh at his name, or you'll find yourself on the ice, with him laughing at you. Svensson is the most physical player on the ice despite being one of the youngest.

Goaltenders
Absent exceptional play, Ericsson will play two games to Smith's one.

Starter - Chris Ericsson
Age: 25
Team: Valley Fold Vengeance
Was critical to the Cordians' incredible quarterfinals run in the last World Cup of Hockey, which featured six wins in a row - of which Ericsson played five.

Backup - Olaf Smith
Age: 27
Team: Jutland Whalers
Smith always comes up big in big games and is one of the most consistent goaltenders in the CIHL.

SYSTEMS:

OOC: These are more guidelines than rules, but if you ever want to talk about systems and how you plan to counter them, here they are.
Forecheck: ABC sounded dumb last time. We'll just call it the Cordian forecheck this time around. Much less elementary. One player pressures opposing defensemen while other players cover all other players so that the other team is left with no options.
Image

Even Strength Defensive Zone: Below the tops of the circles is man-on-man play; above them is zone play. Important: If an opposing player moves from above to below or vice-versa, coverage changes.
Image

Breakout: Pull-system breakout, used to create either defensive panic or a 1-on-0 advantage. The weakside winger begins skating as soon as they see puck possession is theirs; strongside wing and center set up in typical breakout procedure, with the added option of a speeding weakside winger.
Image

Powerplay: The 1-3-1. The idea is to get either a shot from the slot, a cross-ice pass for a shot, or a shot for a rebound and a scramble in front of the net.
Powerplay Unit 1: Perreau-Karlsson-Ericsen Leifssen-Leifssen
Powerplay Unit 2: Bjornsen-Eaton-Dirsson Walker-Svensen
Image

4-man Penalty Kill: Box or Diamond, depending on the opposing powerplay system. The idea is to not overcommit so as to not allow shots from the inside; shots from the outside are unavoidable.
Penalty Kill Unit 1: Vosun-Egilsen H. Leifssen-Svensen
Penalty Kill Unit 2: Perreau-Ericsen Walker-Haraldsen
Image

3-man Penalty Kill: Triangle or Right Triangle, depending on opposing powerplay system. In a Right Triangle, rather than the point player moving back and forth during perimeter passing, the entire formation rotates, with the opposite defensemen instead moving up, the same-side defenseman moving over, and the point player moving back.
3-man PK Unit 1: Vosun Svensen-I. Leifssen
3-man PK Unit 2: Ericsen Walker-Haraldsen

Hockey in Cordia is on par with football (soccer) in popularity. With a robust college and youth system, players often don't enter the league until they reach 22, with a few exceptional cases. The national league is the Cordian Isles Hockey League. The reigning league champions are the Jutland Riveters, with the Jutland Whalers the championship finalists and regular-season champions. Cordian hockey as coached by Kress "Terrible" Thomassen is exceptionally aggressive, trading defensive mistakes for offensive chances, relying on a strong forecheck to keep the puck out of their own zone. Players are expected to play a physical game; expect hits, but mostly to make the play. Petty penalties may happen, especially in rough losses. Oh, and you'll hear plenty of trash talk on the ice. A true Cordian talks a good game. Even inside their own zone, Cordian forwards will cheat up at the first sign of possession, a risky move that leaves men on both teams open and can work either way. As a result, the WCoH Federation rates Cordia's playstyle a +3.5.

Bollonischian National Ice Hockey Team
Bollonischian Hockey Federation

Ice Hockey, unlike what numerous people believe, is actually more popular than field hockey despite the sport of ice hockey not getting much recognition in Bollonich’s coastal cities and really anywhere that is not in Pseudonia. Pseudonia is the largest, however least populated state, which mainly has cold conditions inhospitable in quite a few places with temperatures hitting well below 0 degrees Celsius. Culturally Bollonischians are people from a number of different cultures with a good proportion of Græntfjaller influence existing in the South-Western part of Bollonich and mainly Pseudonia. Ice hockey remains to be one of the most popular sports in Græntfjall and the same is emulated in Græntfjaller majority areas of Pseudonia. Ice Hockey has since then developed in Bollonich emerging as the shining sport from Pseudonia with quite some players making their way over the Western border to Græntfjall to participate in the regional Pavolan League. With greater monetary incentives such as the formation of the Pavolan League and clubs from Bollonich being able to participate in the same ice hockey has developed a lot, and has also necessitated the formation of the Bollonischian Hockey Federation. The National Ice Hockey team took part in the WCoH for the very first time in WCoH 43 hosted by Kelseek. The side put up an encouraging performance which represented Bollonich’s position in the world of ice hockey. This potential however was not to be realised anytime soon as the Hockey Federation failed to accommodate enough funding to participate in the 44th edition of the WCoH. This one cycle break however could not serve as a dampener in the side’s growth in the international realm of ice hockey as more players started playing in the Pavolan League putting in promising performances. This potential convinced the Bollonischian Olympic Committee to offer to fund the ice hockey side’s campaign in the 45th WCoH which the Hockey Federation graciously accepted allowing the players to participate in the competition being hosted in Schutzenphalia and West Ruhntuhnkuhnland. The side taking part in the 45th WCoH has surprisingly remained quite similar to the one which participated in the 43rd edition displaying how much the Federation trusts in the original group of players who brought a considerable amount of success to Bollonich.

World Cup of Hockey--BP make their debut
by David Dahl, National Hockey Editor

The Commonwealth Hockey Federation has assembled the same roster that took part in the most recent Atlantian Oceania Hockey Championships to take part in the 45th World Cup in Schutzenphalia and West Ruhntuhnkuhnland, which the editors and I have decided we will identify once per story then use the short hand "S&WR" for all subsequent references; the team will be coached by Rich Wainwright of the now previous CHA Cup Champion Oceana Zephyrs, assisted by Paul Gomez of the newly crowned champion Lima Chargers, and Patrick Newhouse of Ezriquay.

Every league team has at least one representative in the 22 man squad, along with Benjy Ndumeke of the Mansfield Warriors in the GBHL; the 26 year old center with dual Banijan-Baker Park citizenship was not a surprise choice for the AOHC team as his play with the Warriors has gotten plenty of notice throughout the Commonwealth.

CHA scoring champion Paul Nelson (43g/55a) will be Ndumeke's linemate on the right with Asbury Darts veteran Lee Mazzilli occupying his left wing home on the half boards and the corner; Matt Donnenfeld and Dale Morrison will carry their partnership on the Zephyr's first line to the national team with Aaron Lipscomb as the physical presence on the right.

Captain Niall O'Halloran will be paired with the Chargers' Trey Palmer on the blue line, while Coolville's Alex Saxby and the Darts' Andy Pierce will bring a similar dynamic on the second shift--Palmer and Pierce bringing a more offensive outlook while their partners provide the cover against the opposition.

The group stage draw provides the team a chance to build upon any early momentum they might pick up in the opener against The Cordian Isles, who are ranked 25 currently; a matchup the unranked team in the group, Efnakia, will precede a third day meeting against Anthor, which last entered the competition in WCoH 42.

The schedule closes out with the toughest fixtures at the end, with number 18 TJUN-ia on match day four followed by the meeting with Ko-oren--ranked 6th--concluding Group 2 play.
The Ice Elks are a decided long shot to make an impression in this tournament, the best that can be hoped for would be a pair of wins to build confidence and look toward the next WCoH to improve upon the foundation laid here.

Home Rink: Bank of Sarzonia Arena, Nicksia, Benatar, Sarzonia (18,090 capacity)
Home kits: Navy blue with silver trim
Away kits: White with navy blue trim
Alternate kits: Silver with navy trim

Coach: Brett Tanguay, Sr., 42
Assistant Coach: Joe Crosson, 59
Goalie Coach: Pete Peeters, 58

ROSTER
GOALTENDERS (starter in bold)
32 Jacob Parsons, 26, 5-foot-10, 175 pounds
Uses a butterfly style and quick reflexes to make up for inexperience with positioning. Suspect puck handling.
39 Yuri Evgenikov, 32, 6-foot-3, 230 pounds
Provides veteran depth in the event of any calamities and uses a stand-up style in contrast to Parsons.
43 Owen Franks, 21, 6-foot-1, 195 pounds
Franks is a stand up goalie who plays the puck well and can be a weapon when the Stars are shorthanded. He scored a goal into an empty net during a college game last season.

DEFENCEMEN
First pair
14 Chris Walton, 27, 6-foot-3, 195 pounds. Alternate captain.
Can sometimes play on the fourth line or a penalty killing forward if needed, but he's also an at-home defenceman.
5 Jill Sanders, 25, 5-foot-7, 150 pounds
Certainly not the first woman to play for the Stars, but she's certainly the scrappiest. She willingly goes into the corner to scrum to win pucks.

Second pair
6 Mia Chretién, 34, 5-foot-8, 145 pounds.
Can move the puck in and out of the zone well. Sometimes used on the front line during penalty kills.
7 Erik Weingart, 30, 5-foot-11, 200 pounds. Second alternate captain.
He's there for both hitting and leadership on the ice.

Third pair
19 Gil Sondberg, 24, 6-foot, 185 pounds
Has surprising physicality compared to his size. He's a big hitter and he's a force in the weight room.
52 Kirk Stephens, 25, 6-foot-1, 190 pounds.
Stephens is the offensive defenceman on the Stars, and often lines up as a right wing on the penalty kill. He's a threat to score a shorthanded goal.

Seventh defenseman
55 Milt Radner, 22, 6-foot-4, 210 pounds
Has youthful energy but lacks the polish needed for a spot on a main pairing.

FORWARDS
First Line
LW 19 Matt Davies, 25, 6-foot-2, 190 pounds
Lanky and fast, also with good puck movement skills, but can be relatively easy to get physical with.
C 38 Nate Barnes, 27, 5-foot-11, 189 pounds. Captain.
Best faceoff guy on the Stars, winning them at a 62 percent clip last season. Second in the league with 78 assists in 72 games.
7 RW Brett Tanguay, Jr., 20, 6-foot-1, 215 pounds
He has skill and power, and fires a blistering shot from the point. The son of the defence-minded assistant coach is as offence-minded as it gets.

Second Line
LW: 22 Dylan Bannister, 29, 6-foot, 210 pounds
Bannister replaces the now-retired Cameron Granato as the second line left wing. He has acknowledge he has big skates to fill, though perhaps not as big as also retired left wing Sylvan Turcotte's.
C: Alyssa Hannigan, 25, 5-foot-7, 149 pounds.
A great puck distributor, she often features as the first or second line centre on the power play.
RW: Calan Leftwich, 26, 5-foot-10, 180 pounds.
Plays well enough on defence to be on the checking line, but his offence keeps him on the ice in offensive situations. Could double-shift to the fourth line in case of injury.

Third Line
LW: 15 Jeff Tucker, 31, 5-foot-11, 179 pounds.
Has the versatility to play any of the three forward positions offensively, but his defence is suspect.
C: 16 Colin Yarmouth, 23, 5-foot-8, 175 pounds.
Plays a sparkplug style, but is still working on the conditioning and stamina needed to play on the first two lines. May not be able to play long minutes in extended knockout round overtime sessions.
RW:24 Ray Olendorff, 33, 6-foot-1, 190 pounds.
Plays harder than most. Is now much improved in conditioning, but meshes so well with the third line that he only plays on the other lines in knockout stage matches.

Fourth Line
LW: 37 Brock Willingham, 24, 6-foot-3, 215 pounds
Takes over the enforcer role from Alan Donald, though he has more skill and a little bit less pure braun. Don't sleep on him in a fight, though.
C: 26 Cliff Sauerchuck, 30, 6-foot-4, 230 pounds
His checking and physical play are what have him playing fourth line centre, but his ability to win faceoffs and distribute the puck are why he plays centre.
RW: 44 Terré Sombulier, 24, 5-foot-10, 170 pounds
They check well, and cleanly. That's why they're fourth line.

Sarzonian ice hockey had a conundrum to deal with when it comes to the national ice hockey team.

Sarzonia dominated during the group stage of the 44th World Cup of Hockey with an 11-0-1 record and looked like a favourite to join Cassadaigua as one of only two countries with championships in every major sport. However, the Stars flamed out in the quarterfinals with a 2-1 overtime loss to Græntfjall.

That left the Incorporated Ice Hockey Federation with a question of what to do with the team. Do they stand pat, reasoning that the team's stellar play during the group stages outweighed their loss in the quarterfinals? Or do they take the defeat as a signal for much-needed improvement and start over?

The answer? A little bit of both. Oh, the roster remains the same. Jacob Parsons is back as the starting goaltender. Brett Tanguay, Sr. is back as manager and his son Brett Tanguay, Jr. is back as a first line forward and star player. But the IIHF cleaned house with the entire Board of Governors and chairman all departing en masse. Isaac Strock takes over as chairman and CEO and a new Board of Governors is expected to be sworn in after the Department of Health and Athletics completes their evaluations of applicants.

"We felt there was a need to change some aspects of what we do," Strock said of his appointment. "Cleaning house at the managerial level and with the squad is not practicable, and probably is unnecessary. That said, however, we needed to do something different."

Instead of a lengthy 12-match group stage, the Stars will play only five matches, with opponents being Canadian Dominion, Nova Anglicana, Caplostein, Vilita and Turori, and Bollonich. Brett Tanguay, Sr. said the abbreviated format will mean the Stars can "ill afford" to not fire on all cylinders right out of the gate.

"We don't have room for error," he said. "Hopefully, we didn't peak too early last time out and we can prosper this time out."

Huayramarca Hockey presents:
The Huayramarcan Ice Hockey National Team

La Selección Huayramarquina de Hockey Sobre Hielo (Spanish)
Huayramarca Mamallaqta Hockey Hayt'aqnin (Quechua)
Ukax Huayramarca Suyu Hockey Ukan Equipo Nacional Ukan Uñt’ayatawa (Aymara)

About Huayramarca: The Plurinational State of Huayramarca, also known as ”Huayramarca Mamallaqta” in Quechua and ”Huayramarca Suyu” in Aymara (literally: Windy Country), is an extraordinarily diverse nation in terms of geography that’s located in Anaia. Crossing three time zones, from the islands, reaching the coast, hiking the mountains and then sliding into the jungle, passing massive cordilleras such as the Andes, a nation with 36 million inhabitants that is composed by 9 different ethnic groups.

Huayramarca as such is a relatively new nation for the traditional standards of it, since it was constituted on 1822 (currently, we sit on 1984 according to the Inca Calendar), the main focus of building this nation was to help different ethnic groups to gather force into the region, in order to be recognized multiversally as a nation, hence, may gather some international protection in case their rights would be abused all of a sudden by an external force.

Being completely ignorant on what was happening around themselves, the Aymara, Quechua, Shuar, Guarani, Montubio, Tsáchila, Huaorani, Andoa and Candoshi ethnics decided to form the Republic with the support of neighbouring nations such as the Royal Kingdom of Québec & Shingoryeo. Migration from Québec happened in the late XIX century, mostly peoples known as ”Guayabalenses” decided to move in order to seek a stable place for their families, considering that their home soil was apparently brushed off the map by a dictator called “Gregory”. That last point forced the Huayramarcans into a stronger union in order to survive.

Until the middle XX century, Huayramarca managed to survive economically from llama, alpaca and vicuña herding, since its skins are highly valuable in neighbouring Québec due to their strong winters; also, coffee production helped Huayramarca to build some solid institutions that promoted national expansion near the Cocoabo Forest, that place is “La Selva”, a lush but quite dangerous forest with hundreds of rivers that come from the Andes. After some years of exploration, the authorities met the first indigenous peoples of the zone, which were exploited in order to produce rubber for tires and some mysterious chickens that were produced to do even more mysterious sacrifices to a deity, which the local people and even the rest of Huayramarca wasn’t able to understand how she works, granted, it’s not even a part of the Incan Mythology which includes Inti(the Sun god) and others.

During said period of time, and in a constant influx, a still unknown quantity of Huayramarcans decided to immigrate to neighbouring nations, especially the Kingdom of Québec & Shingoryeo. The Huayramarcans that managed to settle and refuge in said nation are group characterised by being easily adapted to their new home, they managed to assimilate many of the cultural preferences of the Québécois populace, and one of those was ice hockey, some youngsters decided to venture into the Québécois Hockey League (QHL) and a bare minimum of those were actually lucky to fit into a team. At the same time, a rare phenomena started among the Tsáchila indigenous people, they decided to play some kind of hockey in salt flats, imitating the same principles as their familiars did on Québec, with ice skates, pucks and sticks they were gifted from them.

That somewhat weird splitting was capitalized by a Huayramarcan-Québécois coach who envious of seeing nations from all across the multiverse taking part of the World Cup of Hockey, decided that it was time to see Huayramarca in the biggest scene that hockey has to offer. His job began after watching the WCoH 43 final, he started to investigate the background of the entire QHL, searching for players with Huayramarcan parents or grandparents, his work seemed useless until he got contacted by three QHL players who demonstrated that, in fact, they are Huayramarcans. Taking them into the pocket, he visited Santo Domingo, the city that's closer to the salt flats, where he saw a vibrant scene of teams from all across Huayramarca taking part of it, he arranged a meeting with the Tsáchila's patriarch in order to scout players from the salt flats tournament, he got approved and managed to get a team ready for the upcoming World Cup of Hockey, since those players considered themselves capable to jump from the salt flat to the ice rinks.

scene by building from scratch a team for his native Huayramarca, the country he fled in order to pursue a better life in Québec & Shingoryeo. Involved in hockey since his arrival to his new home, he has managed some local teams from Sherbrooke, he was earning his name as a promising coach for youngsters in the area, even helping some of those to jump into the QHL. His training methods are considered to be more focused into collective playing, optimisation of space and focusing in speed and elegance rather than force while attacking, although, a complete fan of somewhat brutal force while defending, he's known for always choosing strong defenceman lines, trying to build an iron curtain on the attempt.

For his venture on Huayramarca, expectations are low since it's taking a group composed by, mostly, amateur players that used to play on salt flats and reinforcing them with five professional QHL players forming the starting lines for the Fugitives. The sole fact of building the team and managing to get support from the Tsáchilas' chief and the National Government is a victory for what was, until today, a completely unknown figure in hockey.

Forward Lines

Line 1:

Number Name Age Height Weight Hand Team
47 Simón Lugo 31 186 cm 86 kg Right Montréal Koreana (QHL)
87 Ho Man-Young 24 193 cm 99 kg Right Winnipeg Giants (QHL)
31 Pablo Holguín 28 185 cm 89 kg Left Saint John Acadiens (QHL)

La crème de la crème that Ferrer has to offer for the Fugitives, a trio of moderately strong but extremely fast players from the Québécois Hockey League, featuring Ho Man-Young, one of the best players that the Winnipeg Giants has among their lines, Ho is a skilled player that loves to exploit cracks in the rival defence, using his speed and technique to break them for good, he has a great sense of anticipation and tries to be in right place before the puck, instead of chasing it; he has a bright future forward and pretends to showcase with Huayramarca as much as possible. Simón Lugo and Pablo Holguín accompany Ho at the wings, both are fast enough players but Holguín excels due to his stamina, he is known for playing long periods of time without being substituted, while Lugo tends to be the opposite, since he's a player that tends to be very fast and collaborative on counterattacks, he might be one of the fastest QHL players and that tends to have a toll in his stamina. The trio may try to exploit speed and pass the puck in a space via filtered passes, while Ho would try, if possible, to pull out a five-hole or dribble the defenders and goalie in order to confuse them.

Line 2:

Number Name Age Height Weight Hand Team
20 Alonso Ballesteros 31 199 cm 89 kg Left Sechura Oilers (HHL)
42 Héctor Medina 26 198 cm 94 kg Right Parcoy Highlanders (HHL)
91 Eduardo Pizarro 26 200 cm 94 kg Left Guayaquil Coastals (HHL)

A line composed by fast moving players, but stronger compared to the first one. Ferrer has this line in consideration as a technical alternative in case a defence decides to lockdown and there's need of force to crack it. Ballesteros is a left winger that might like to start from behind or receive a pass to test his one-timer, a strong shot that might have some accuracy, his stats at the Huayramarcan Hockey League (HHL) demonstrates some success as he took the Sechura Oilers to win la Copa del Salar in the inaugural season. Medina is a centre forward that prefers to fight when needed, he might be extremely rude if we compare to the standard of this team, he might be involved in fights constantly; despite that, Medina has a great dribbling capacity and couples nicely with fast wingers such as Ballesteros. Pizzaro, in the other hand, is the slowest, but smartest, player on this line, he will always try to anticipate the movements and prevent offside by playing close to the line, he likes to receive passes right to where he is, so it's safe to say that he doesn't move a lot, still, he manages to control the puck nicely and shoot from mid range.

Line 3:

Number Name Age Height Weight Hand Team
44 Benjamín Quispe 30 196 cm 88 kg Right Tulcán Eagles (HHL)
76 Marco Huanca 31 186 cm 82 kg Right Illimani Warriors (HHL)
11 Walter Colque 27 191 cm 98 kg Right Metropolitan Condors (HHL)

This third line has a stronger feature compared to the one we had earlier, to the point that some of the players here are considered into special teams such as Walter Colque, this player always chooses violence as his preferred method to solve problems, so, he's almost always involved big time in one, despite that, he has managed to get a great sense of concentration that, if used properly, could help to protect the puck and serve passes to the other two players of his line, specially to Quispe. Benjamín is an agile skater, he has the capability to manoeuvre among the rivals with simplicity, having preference to go behind the goal and serve passes to Huanca. The latter is a player that possesses a rather good one-timer, so, if he considers capable, he will always aim to goal, although his shot capabilities from mid or long range isn't the very best out there.

Line 4:

Number Name Age Height Weight Hand Team
30 Diego Rojas 23 182 cm 85 kg Left Putumayo Scavengers (HHL)
19 Anthony Mamani 28 182 cm 91 kg Right Lima Fire (HHL)
26 Ángel Chambi 27 176 cm 75 kg Left San Carlos Turtles (HHL)

A significantly better in terms of speed and stamina, the fourth line may not be as technical as the first, but it's one with players that can resist prolonged periods of intense game on ice, specially for the smallest player of the team, Ángel Chambi may look as a non-threat for rival defenders, but it's a player capable to rush in counterattacks and provide some good passing for his teammates. Diego Rojas is a motivated player, his hockey career is starting and he might look promising for some teams in this World Cup, since he's the most technical player in this line, he's able to appear from the rival's back and shoot surprisingly. Anthony Mamani is your average Huayramarcan hockey player, an individual that might look dull on the ice sometimes, but has a great decision skill while receiving the puck, he might want to come from behind the goal and then shoot the goaltender when he doesn't expects.

Defence Lines

Line 1:

Number Name Age Height Weight Hand Team
51 Zayden McCrae 28 199 cm 111 kg Left Prince Eric Orca (QHL)
15 Mario Nieto 30 187 cm 104 kg Right Saint John Acadiens (QHL)

The stellar defensive line features two strong QHL defenders such as Zayden McCrae and Mario Nieto. McCrae is a Huayramarcan because of his father, who immigrated to Québec & Shingoryeo by the age of 24, this player tends to be excessively physical while trying to recover the puck, but also possesses high speed, so he could be a vital piece for Ferrer's counterattack idea when needed. Mario Nieto is the classical hockey defender that tries to chase the puck, hence being somewhat easy to distract at certain occasions, Nieto tends to use his strength to deter players to be close to the goal, also he's versatile as he likes to keep defending position behind the goal in order to avoid a sudden turn from a rival forward that could end in goal.

Line 2:

Number Name Age Height Weight Hand Team
01 Felipe Puga 24 193 cm 108 kg Left Sechura Oilers (HHL)
66 Santiago Coronado 30 186 cm 112 kg Right Sechura Oilers (HHL)

This line features what perhaps is the most reliable line in the Huayramarcan Hockey League, both are Oilers and had kept a solid performance during the last season of HHL, specially Puga that led the league in recoveries and puck stealing, a formidable player in terms of physique and speed, Puga can place decently positioned pucks to the forwards in order to help them while transitioning from a defence to attack. Meanwhile, Santiago Coronado is the kind of player that tends to not be aggressive but smart, as he prefers to play nicely with the stick, trying to perform high-style puck recovering from the rivals, he tends to support himself on Puga in order to get out of defensive troubles, so the fastest of the two could led a counterattack when needer. Coronado will always chase the rivals and deter him from shooting.

Line 3:

Number Name Age Height Weight Hand Team
81 Dante Gallardo 24 192 cm 94 kg Right Guayaquil Habitants (HHL)
64 Kevin Mamani 24 197 cm 80 kg Left Andahuaylas Spartans (HHL)

Gallardo and Mamani are, perhaps, projected to be big things in the HHL, this WCoH will provide them in first row an incredible chance to measure their quality and see if they are capable enough to handle the big leagues or if they could suffer scenic panic in this event, that will be seen but they will prove to be helpful and skilled defenders for the Fugitives. Gallardo is a physically and mentally strong player, capable to take out of their minds his opponents and get into brawls to provoke power-plays, still, he can help on controlling the puck and playing with the goaltender in order to kill some time. Mamani, in the other hand, is a swift player that manages to compensate his lack of physical strength with mental speed, he's a talented player that obstructs rivals moves with ease, and provides his team with a scape valve to release pressure behind and transfer it to the forwards.

Netminders

Number Name Age Height Weight Hand Team
45 Bin-Seok 24 202 cm 99 kg Left Prince Eric Orca (QHL)
97 Isaac Choque 25 196 cm 95 kg Right Guayaquil Habitants (HHL)
62 Evo Morales 29 196 cm 103 kg Right Santo Domingo Bruins (HHL)

Huayramarcan goalies tend to be strong physically and able to cover most of the goal in order to block shots, but they have some disadvantages because on how tall can they be, so five-hole is a real possibility to beat them but not so easily. Bin-Seok is one of the best QHL goalies (0.94 save average) , he has great reflexes and capability to block from short range hits to fast one-timers, his experience, despite being young, can provide motivation and a confident player in the riskiest positions that the game has to offer. Isaac Choque and Evo Morales are local league players, they were the two best goalies in the last HHL season, they have proved to be consistent and reliable goal tenders for their teams, having saving average of 0.92 and 0.91 each and they will be always ready to support the team when needed.

Special Teams:

Powerplay 1: Lugo - Ho - Quispe | McCrae - Nieto
Powerplay 2: Ho - Ballesteros - Chambi | Puga - Gallardo
Penalty kill 1: Ho - Holguin | Puga - Coronado
Penalty kill 2: Huanca - A. Mamani | K. Mamani - McCrae

Jerseys: Keeping up with the traditions of Huayramarca, the kits for the national team are always tailored by local companies that manufacture sport textiles, hockey wasn't the exception considering the large indigenous and nostalgic immigrant fanbase. The company on charge was SportPlus, who decided to select traditional patterns for a hockey uniform, putting the crest of Huayramarca Hockey in the middle of it. SportPlus has decided to add technological components in order to enhance performance to the best possible, trying to replicate what jersey makers from the best hockey-playing nations usually do, and also has decided to keep those technologies for the fan version, in order to create a sense of professionalism for those who buy it and make them feel like pro hockey players.
