Nadaturan Air Force

The current strength of sixteen MIG-21SM Fighters, six MIG-21bis Fighters. four MIG-23MLD Fighters, seven Su-17M3 Ground Attack Aircraft and two MIG-25PD Interceptor Aircraft plus eighteen Mi-8 Transport Helicopters is to be kept while development of new aircraft is undertaken.

A Nadaturan Navy is be created of an initial strength of fifteen Corvettes, nine Destroyers, six Frigates plus coastal vessels.

The improvement of the security position was an absolute priority, with a personal view of President Mario Falenti that Nadatura would need to eventually expand to the nearby islands around them where some decently sized nations were. They were mainly federations of islands, though two of them were at present more powerful economically and militarily.

His first Presidential Decree was to be aimed at a rapid expansion of the Nadaturan Military on top of the Armed Services Act recently passed. The main concern was the creation of a navy, with the majority of its new ground forces to be made up of Marine and Air Assault units for use in future expeditionary operations.

The current Nadaturan Army was to be still modernised but would be retained for defending the Nadaturan homeland.


Other considerations were to be made to strengthen the economic situation with plans to submit motions for monetary funding increases for new businesses, creation of new jobs and supporting businesses.

As the world's eyes look towards the deteriorating situation in Iraq, Nadatura sat quietly in its Pacific Ocean domain and continues to receive international aid from the Red Cross. Another ten billion dollars economic aid package from the United States also had been surprisingly given. This was thought to be the United States government's wish to avoid any chance that Nadatura would again become a problem.

The money was however gratefully received, with the Nadaturan government deciding to send some of this new money into the primary sectors of the economy. The main effort was though into infrastructure repair and modernisation, in which a billion dollars more would be invested. The final recipient was the healthcare sector which was to be reconfigured into a National Health Service on the model of the United Kingdom. This was chosen because it was deemed the US healthcare model was unfair.


Politically the country was gaining stability month by month. There had been a massive step towards full recovery, with a full reconstruction being aimed for July 2005. It was hoped that it would be done sooner which was a reasonable goal with the vast increase in the construction sector. There were new projects, including the creation of a new port on the central west coast. Called Masurna, it was to have a theoretical capacity of eighteen large berths and a twenty-acre port area for loading and unloading, serviced by a railway and an extension of the nearby main road. Sixteen Billion Nadurats had been already allocated to the project, with groundwork already started.

Overall the future was getting brighter.

August 22nd 2003

The first embassy today opened and it was the United States of America that got that honour. The new ambassador James Wilkins immediately went into a meeting with Foreign Affairs Minister Jack Latrel. The meeting apparently went well with new aid packages being discussed. New manufacturing equipment and investments were one part, with several other packages.

January 3rd 2004

The Nadaturan Government looked to the new year with confidence. The economy continued to proliferate, though the problem of unemployment still is an issue. The new employment scheme called 'Jobs for Prosperity' was to begin with an aim to create a million new jobs in the next six months. There was a great need for construction and other infrastructure-related workers, but so far things were progressing well.

Politically Nadatura was still isolated. It had been not interested in joining the United Nations, so it remained pretty isolated from the war on terrorism and the other worries plaguing the world. It was though tuned well into the world economy, with trade deals being made with notably, the Philippines, Russia, Australia and Japan. A delegation was currently in Beijing thrashing out an economic and military partnership to build understanding.

The Peoples Republic of China was a concern of the Nadauran government as it feared Chinese incursions into the region to challenge the United States. It did not want to be caught between them both if they started antagonising each other. The need for a strong navy and air force was a very important one.

The Treaty of Beijing is signed with the Peoples Republic of China, affirming Chinese non aggression, sending of military blueprints and an economic agreement.

At another meeting, the Treaty of Vladivostok is had been signed reaffirming mutual non-aggression, sending of military blueprints and an economic agreement.

Nadatura welcomes the United States lifting economic sanctions imposed on Libya, noting that it would not however condone the Gaddafi regime.

President Mario Falenti welcomes US President George W Bush to Nadatura City for a summit on Pacific Ocean security and potential other agreements. He is on a three-day tour to improve relations between the two countries.

The summit on the last day between the two leaders was an exciting affair, with both of them wanting to secure their own interests. But, President Bush admitted to President Falenti that he was also conscious about stretching the USA thin. He was worried about Afghanistan and Iraq, though President Falenti was not willing to send a Nadaturan military force to either as it was to him something he wouldn't be able to convince the Senate of.

President Bush understood, with his view that Nadatura was better protecting the peace in the Pacific and the western flank of the US mainland. He did then make a very surprising offer. He was going to give Wake Island, the Northern Mariana Islands and Guam over to Nadatura for several conditions:

- Join the UN and its associated treaties
- Join the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)
- Join the Pacific Islands Forum
- Pay Three Billion Dollars

The meeting then broke for lunch as President Falenti spoke with his advisors about the offer. His concern was that Nadatura would eventually be pressurised to join a military alliance like NATO, but he felt that he would be able to refuse such pressures.

The meeting resumed with President Falenti giving President Bush his misgivings. However President Bush immediately pledged to never put such un-needed pressure like that. He also decided to sweeten the deal further by saying that American civilian and military manufacturers would give favourable prices for their goods.

President Falenti decided he would accept, shaking President Bush's hand. They then decided to go onto mundane topics, while the legal teams of both countries began to go over the specifics of the agreement which would be signed.

President Bush would go home to the US, with President Falenti to fly to the US to sign it later in the month.

The signing of the Treaty of Nadatura-US Cooperation was welcomed by both populations, but more so in Nadatura when it was seen that the country was entering the world stage properly. President Falenti's approval ratings and popularity skyrocketed overnight, silencing some critics of his Presidency.

A massive influx of American businesses was now expected, with the first Mcdonald's, Wendys and KFC restaurants planned to open in early May, with Amazon opening a distribution centre and a few clothing labels to also enter the Nadaturan market.

The inhabitants of Wake Island, the Northern Marianas Islands and Guam were to switch to Nadaturan citizenship when the territories switched ownership on May 15th.

The Nadaturan Government announces that government buildings are being cleansed of anything that might have racist connotations to clean up Nadatura's image.

The Nadaturan economy had begun to enter a period of substantial growth as the economic agreements recently signed start to influence the economy due to increased goods and new export markets.


May 7th 2004

President Mario Falenti arrives in Brisbane, Australia to see Prime Minister John Howard during a state visit and hopefully gain agreements between both countries.

The day would see a long seven-hour dialogue where an agreement on economic ties is made. There had not been any attempt to gain a military alliance at the meeting..


May 11th 2004

President Falenti sends the re-elected Phillipine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo his congratulations. Relations between Nadatura and the Philippines had been pretty good with goods sailing to and from each country. Recent news had been heard that Nadaturan Airlines were reportedly thinking of starting a route to Manilla but it had yet to make a move to secure one.

This is to be the strategic ballistic missile arm of the Nadaturan Armed Forces. It would have an inventory of Short Range and Medium Range Ballistic Missiles.

May 15th 2004

The handover ceremonies on Guam, Sinpalu, Agujian, Tinian and Saipan marked the transfer of sovereignty from the United States to Nadatura. Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands were to be immediately integrated and all civilians on the island would automatically get Nadaturan citizenship and all associated rights.

The Nadaturan government would immediately group those islands into a new 'Western Nadaturan Territory' and backed by new legislation named the 'Western Territory Economic Support Act' which allowed funds to be sent to the new territory to develop its local economy and establish Nadatura National Banks where Nadaturan currency could be distributed.

The Nadaturan Military immediately deployed MIG-29S Fulcrum C Multi-Role Fighters to each island. The 11th Motorised Infantry Division infantry only was deployed amongst the island with replacement land units to be deployed later.

2S5 Giatsint-S 152mm Self Propelled Howitzer finally fully replaces all 2S3M Akitsiya 152mm Self Propelled Howitzers in service. They would be reallocated to the new unit and some to storage.

The need for a new type of unit to defend Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands effectively and prevent any other unit tied up and deployed there had been apparent.

The new unit would be designed as a Brigade but to be similarly organised as a Mechanised unit but would have an Armoured element. The equipment loadout would be different to normal units and its task would be to hold an invading force at bay until reinforced. It is designated as a Mixed Infantry Brigade and would be made up of:

Twenty WMA301 Assault Guns
Fifty BMD-2M Airborne Infantry Fighting Vehicles

Ten 2S3M Akitsiya 152mm Self Propelled Howitzers
Five WM-80 273mm Multiple Rocket Launch Systems

There would be ten of these Brigades totalling Fifty Thousand Combat Soldiers.

They would deploy immediately so the two Motorised Infantry Brigades could return to the Nadauran mainland.

The islands were to be militarised extensively over a period of at least eighteen months with various fixed position weapon systems and equipment.

The Nadaturan Government had through Presidential Decree #2 created the Espionage Act 2004 which had formed the Nadaturan Internal Security and also created many new laws including capital punishment for espionage.

The Nadaturan Senate had also passed several new legislation:

- Defence against Terrorism Act: Gives sweeping powers to detain terrorists for two years without trial. Brings security measures at airports to exact standards as in the United States and creates the Aviation Security Service to replace the Airport Protection Service.

- Weapons Regulation Act: Allows civilians to own a gun for personal use, though Assault Rifles are banned. Any weapon smuggling is punished by fifty years in prison.

- Nuclear Power Act: Gives a basis for building three nuclear power stations to replace coal ones. Tender for mining nuclear fuel to be given out.

Nadaturan Defence Systems


Project #001 - New BMD-2 Infantry Fighting Vehicle Variant


The current BMD-2M variant is currently used in the Nadaturan Army, It's a capable Infantry Fighting Vehicle with its stabilized 30 mm 2A42 multi-purpose autocannon and a 7.62 mm PKT coaxial tank machine gun and two 9M133 "Kornet" launchers. However, there is a potential for more powerful weaponry to be fitted.

The potential is that the 2A42 multi-purpose autocannon could be removed, with a redesigned turret capable of taking a 90mm cannon. It would be designed to take on other armoured vehicles short of a Main Battle Tank. The ammunition used would be mainly armour piercing though a potential new avenue of a depleted uranium munition would improve the killing power of the 90mm cannon.

The addition of ERA armour packets on the front and the sides would increase the weight slightly. That would be another potential avenue.

Potentially, there would be the replacement of the engine from 15.9-litre diesel of 241bhp to a 270bhp diesel engine with eight cylinders instead of six. That would be a secondary goal and would offset any additional weight although no real speed increase would be seen.

A final note is that it would be potentially an export vehicle as it could be used as a cheaper option for smaller armies.

The Nadaturan Military High Command decides that M119 105mm Howitzer currently in service with the Nadaturan Marine Force will be made for use in the Nadaturan Army, to replace the D-30 122mm Howitzers in service. The 2S5 Giatsint-S 152mm Self Propelled Howitzer was to remain in service for now as but a request to the Russian Government for the potential purchase of the 2S19 Msta 152mm Self Propelled Howitzer had been denied. Therefore another request to the United States Government to purchase the M198 155mm Howitzer and the M109 155mm Self Propelled Howitzer had been sent and a provisional agreement was made.

Also, there had been an offer to send further small arms including the M4 Carbine and other US infantry equipment to replace the Russian equipment. President George W Bush in a speech two days before had mentioned Nadatura as "the shield of the Pacific and a worthwhile ally."

The redeployment of all fifteen MIG-23MLD Interceptor Fighters to Saipan and fifteen MIG-25PD Interceptor Aircraft to Guam is enacted to supplement the twenty MIG-29S Fulcrum C Multi-Role Fighters already in the area.

Also deployed are four Tu-95MS6 Bear H Strategic Bombers to Guam and a Tu-22M Backfire Strategic Bomber.

It was just after six am as the networks broke the news flash. The male anchor Jack Littens shuffled his papers. "Breaking News from the Republic of Palau as the President Thomas Remengesau Jr declares in a speech that the Palau economic situation is dire and that he has requested integration into Nadatura to safeguard the citizens in the Republic. President Falenti is now about to give a press conference after consulting with the United States President Bush. We go to the press conference now."


"Ladies and Gentlemen I thank you for coming here at such an early hour. Last night President Thomas Remengesau Jr of the Republic of Palau contacted the Nadaturan Government and in a phone call with me asked for Nadaturan help and that Palau is placed under our care. We then brought the United States President George W Bush into the conversation and we have agreed that Palau will become part of the Democratic Republic of Nadatura."

He took a sip of water and then continued. "I have ordered the Nadaturan Army to deploy a part of the 1st Air Assault Brigade to the islands to provide initial security and also emergency aid flown by the Nadaturan Air Force. The United States will be sending aid also using our air bases on Guam as a staging point. The situation will be somewhat stabilised in the next twenty-four hours, with the Nadaturan Senate later today to convene in an emergency session to pass an aid package legislation. I will now take questions...."

At around eight am, twenty-five C-130H Hercules Transport Aircraft after leaving the Nadaturan mainland and refuelling at Guam, finally arrived over the Palau Islands. The drops would be concentrated over the more populated northern islands and each population centre was to be secured as soon as possible.

At eight-ten am, the drops began. The sky filled with parachutes, the civilian population watching as their new protectors descended from the sky. As the morning wore on, the soldiers would carry out their orders. The first Hercules would also begin to arrive with the 1st Brigade, 2nd Marine Division which had been ordered to deploy to the northern islands.

The Red Cross would be scheduled to arrive the next morning with well needed assistance.

Nadauran Senate passes the Palau Islands Integration Act which brings Palau into the Democratic Republic of Nadatura. It also gives all civilians on the island automatic Nadaturan citizenship and all associated rights. A financial aid package of Fifteen MIllion Nadats to improve infrastructure.

Surprising reactions from the Philippines as their government demands that Nadatura withdraw from Palau and cease their 'illegal occupation'. President Falenti responded by sending a copy of the plea sent on August 7th 2004, evidence that the Palau people wanted to join with Nadatura. President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo had said on television that the Philippines will not be acknowledging Palau as part of Nadatura and "'there will be consequences."

The diplomatic session called by the Philippines over Palau had gone badly. After evidence given in Nadatura's defence detailing the valid and truthful Palau call for assistance, Ambassador Daniel Ayroga cut an embarrassed figure. The country they had hoped for support, the United States had taken Nadatura's side as did the entire assembly. The humiliation was total and there would be no further opposition from the Philippine government or their President.

However, it had meant that their diplomatic relations with Nadatura had taken a serious downturn.

The Nadaturan Government sent a warning to the Philippine Government after a Nadaturan Air Force MIG-29S Fulcrum C Multi-Role Fighter intercepted a Philippine Air Force F-5B Tiger approaching Palau. The Nadaturan aircraft chased the other aircraft away after making contact.

President Falenti has warned that any further probing of airspace around Palau will be met with a strong response.

The Nadaturan Missile Forces had been now receiving DF-15 Short-Range Ballistic Missile and DF-21A Medium-Range Ballistic Missiles for deployment. Some were to be deployed west to bolster the defence of those areas.

Aguijan Island in the Marianas was turned over to the Nadaturan Military for use as a secret facility. It had been three months since the Nadaturan takeover of the area and some well-camouflaged buildings were now in place. The base was to be known as Facility X-1. There were laboratories and a reinforced bunker was under construction for other projects.

Today the Nadaturan Senate would finally pass the legislation to turn the country into a monarchy as it was before the German Empire's conquest of the islands in 18922. There had been many calls for it and a petition had been sent for a referendum to take place. It had gained major support and the government had given in. The search for someone with a strong valid claim to the newly created throne had taken not too long as the person had been living in Nadatura. He had a link right back to the last monarch Karian III. James Materina was to become King James I, Monarch of the Kingdom of Nadatura as the country would now be called.

President Falenti had acknowledged the results and he would be now Prime Minister as the Presidency is dissolved, with a new four-year term set in place.


The new King had already a wife, who would be Queen Katrina, Queen Consort of the Kingdom of Nadatura. This news was met with many unnecessary women's sorrow as they had expected the King to search for a match. They would have to just admire the admittedly handsome King from afar.

The Nadaturan Senate passes the Western Territories Defence Act which essentially allows the Nadaturan military to use all force necessary to protect national airspace.

Prime Minister Falenti immediately calls a press conference:

“The act passed today in the Senate is a formal declaration of our resolve to defend our western border. Any attempt to breach this defensive measure by any means will affect a full retaliation. It is the position of the Nadaturan government that we wish to solve this situation through peaceful means with the Philippine government. However, do not doubt our resolve. We will defend ourselves with all our resources and firepower at our disposal.”

Project #002 – A B-52 Stratofortress Strategic Bomber Modernisation


The B-52 Stratofortress Strategic Bomber plans given to us by the United States will help develop a second-generation version of it, using the current airframe as a base. The design is nearly fifty years old and needs a major overhaul.

The characteristics of the aircraft are to remain the same as it is a solid airframe. However, we feel that the avionics are completely obsolete and needs new versions installed.

The main use of the new bomber will be to fly at high levels to deliver cruise missiles or drop ordinance. It will have jamming equipment and a GPS targeting suite.

A more powerful jet engine will be developed, to improve fuel efficiency and performance.

Nadaturan Missile Forces

A local variant of the 9K52 Luna-M Short Range Rocket System enters service in small numbers with a plan to keep them on the mainland for possible future deployment. These cheap and easily produced systems may be even suitable for export.

Also introduced is a local variant of the SS-21 Scarab C Tactical Ballistic Missile. This is to be more widely produced and will eventually be the primary tactical ballistic system. The first four are immediately to be deployed to Guam and Palau.

The situation with the Philippine threat is considered to be still high with a possibility that some sort of preventative action may have to take place. The need to prevent any deterioration of the situation is imperative, but the lesson that the Philippines cannot interfere in Nadaturan territorial sovereignty should be made.

As a precaution, the Nadaturan Missile Forces were placed on readiness just in case. The Nadaturan Air Force bases on Guam and Saipan immediately went on alert also, waiting for any orders.

The United Nations Security Council met in New York to discuss the developing situation between Nadatura and the Philipines. The sudden raising of alert in the Nadaturan miitary had been detected by the US and they hoped that both their allies would hold off from attacking.

The Nadaturan Ambassador to the UN Keliv Naltrix made a prepared statement:

“The Nadaturan government is absolutely appalled at the Philipine conduct over our soverignty in Palau. Their blatant attempts to invade our soverign airspace. We are prepared to defend our territories with all our capabilities. We wish to maintain peace in the region, but we refuse to allow the kind of penetrations we have been fending off by Philipine aircraft. We ask the Philipines desist from these actions, or we will be forced to take measures to ensure that this kind of provocation is stopped.”

The Philipines Ambassador had decided not to comment, but she could see that the mood was against her nation due to the aggressive tactics. Again this was not a good day. She hoped that her government would heed what was a very clear declaration of intent.
