i think you misunderstand the situation here. not only was it the bigoted posts (which still were a factor, and explain the raid's trans theme), but also some rather damning offsite evidence which basically anyone involved can provide offsite (not onsite, thanks to site defamation rules). you have no ground to stand on, and frankly it doesn't matter: the region's not going back to you lot anyway.

The name and theme of Japan are not intrinsically tied to transphobia, so I would be very worried to see such a situation happen.

You don't. If you read the last page of this thread before adding to it, you'd see that's explicitly given as an option - locking it down is the low effort way of ensuring that the wrong type of weebs never infest it and rob it of dignity again. Other options are openly considered as well, such as limited revival. Any full fledged native offsite community, however, would lilely require not just a full dose of moderation attention, but likely an oversized one, more than most of us put into our home regions, due to the sort of folks the name tends to attract.

Anyone who wants more of a say on outcomes had years to plan this op themselves - years in which defenders tried and failed to encourage lasting reform in the region. It was BoM and TCB who pulled the trigger (and operatives from TBH and The EO that got closest to, and got, the password in the end, after the "do not defend" process resulted in the region being locked down). It's raiders and their allies who are going to put in the weeks and endos to make change happen, and therefore drive results...results that no matter what, will leave the region better than it was before, in this case.

If you want more promises than that, I'd suggest encouraging some of the supposed moderate factions in GP to conduct moderately complex and long term operations like this themselves, even if they're not quite as straightforward as mopping the floor with Layem and Concord or twiddling thumbs in England for a week.

I don't think there should be much concern that BoM will err in their custodial duty. At the end of the day, I think the best solution would be a situation similar to Concord.

I'm just gunna bluntly put it out there.. If a refound happens I'd gladly volunteer to take that founder account and rebuild Japan. Already built two Japanese themed regions Eientei Gensokyo and The Glorious Nations of Iwaku that are thriving without the bigots and NSFW content. Yggdrasil is doing great too since I ruthlessly invaded and took it over. (GRO retired and gave me the keys)

All use the Alstroemerian Commonwealths Discord channel for easy moderation so no nono's happen. Better than it being a trophy or locked forever.
