I finally finished working on this old project of mine today (gotta love those bursts of random energy

)! This one is an archive of newspaper archives from all over NationStates throughout the last 20 years.

DISCLAIMER: This dispatch is missing a million things I am sure of it. I am actually a terrible historian, but all the news sources I could personally find have been added to this list. Any additions would be much appreciated but please refer to the dispatch for quick notes on that (major exception being that you can absolutely post said suggestions in this thread if that's easier!).

Hopefully this can serve as a helpful historical source both now and in the future. I've always been a huge proponent of recording history and one massive resource for newspapers would be really helpful for research on things like SC commendations and condemnations!

The game is 20 years old, it was the eventuality. You’ll note the large majority of papers are ones that are currently or recently active

So, for reference, I searched in the GP forum for "topic titles only" with the keywords: "News" | "Bugle" | "Times" | "Network" | "Gazette".

I did the same thing for the NS history thread.

This ended up being a decently clean sweep. For the most part, you were only missing stuff from that FRA / UIAF / UDL / Cold War / Sinkers / SuperCoolIWishICouldveBeenThere era. That time period had a lot of newspapers.

In the future, I can do a deeper search if this is popular.

You're missing a couple from NSLeft as far as I can see - like TCB's newspaper The Red Standard (dispatches under Information of The Communist Bloc, Pan Kath and New Astri I think?), the Leftist Times (TLA mostly) (https://sites.google.com/view/theleftisttimes/), TLA's newspaper The Assemblian (https://www.nationstates.net/page=dispa ... assemblian), and TLA's old newspaper the Worker's Editorial (https://www.nationstates.net/page=dispa ... n=kesmaria , near the bottom). Also The Union of Great Onionist Nations has a newspaper called The Red Onion, the dispatches for which are currently held by Dwarvia (https://www.nationstates.net/page=dispa ... on=dwarvia) although that may change soon. Yeah originally I’d kept out The Red Standard because I honestly had no clue how I was going to archive it since it’s split between so many sources. I’ll see what I can do. Thanks for the other as well, I’ll get them all in there in due time!

EDIT: This has now been done.

Speaking of the Red Standard, I was scrolling through the dispatches of Information of The Communist Bloc, and I found an older news source, called Daily News of The Communist Bloc. I don’t know when it started, but the most recent dispatches are from the end of November 2021, when it appears to have been replaced by the weekly Red Standard. The format appears similar to the Red Standard, but I can’t tell exactly because I’m on mobile rn. It’s pretty similar to the Red Standard overall so idk if you’d want to differentiate.
