It's that time once again, yay!

This is the official signup thread for the 26th Handball World Cup. Post here to sign up for the tournament and also bid for host. To signup, make a post in this thread.

Host Bids must include form of scorination, format, and RP grading/bonus; everything else is not necessary but encouraged. A preliminary bid deadline will be set at 1630 UTC on 28th May, 2022.

For when I think this competition could run, it could be sometime towards the end of WCQ similar to what we did last cycle. However ultimately it’s up to the host to decide when they want to score.

Bollonich Handball World Cup 26 Bid

Bollonich National Information
Bollonich is a coastal nation located towards the north east of Rushmore with Græntfjall to the West and Weatherdon to the south. Bollonich is an advanced nation with two parties dominating the political scene. The most popular cities, Vreton and Fermont, are luxurious locations with great living facilities. Vreton is the capital of the Republic of Bollonich.
Handball is an important sport in Bollonich holding massive cultural significance and also a competition of massive weightage in the nation. Bollonich along with the Equestrian States hosted the 23rd edition of the Handball World Cup which intrinsically tied the competition with Bollonischian sports. Following the failure to win the tournament on home soil, the Bollonischians won twice in a row in Sylestone/Quebec and Græntfjall. The defending champions will be looking to bring the tournament back at home where they shall be looking to try to achieve that famed HWC threepeat.

Format
Currently we have 15 teams signed up for the HWC. The tournament shall be hosted in two group stages followed by knockouts. I hope we can reach 16 signups in terms of numbers however I can work with any other number of signups as well.

16 teams - 4 groups of 4 (Double Round Robin) followed by 2 groups of 4 (Single Round Robin)
18 teams - 2 groups of 9 (Single Round Robin) followed by 2 groups of 4 (Single Round Robin)
20 teams - 4 groups of 5 (Double Round Robin) followed by 2 groups of 4 (Single Round Robin)

Scorination
All matches will be scorinated using xkorante 0.3.3 with the vanilla handball formula. The latest ranks will be used for seeding as well as scorination. There will be daily cutoffs with some break days.

RP Grading
There will be a daily RP bonus available the overall of which will be cumulative and non degrading throughout the competition. Roasters will be worth a matchday’s worth of bonus. There will be a roster penalty which shall halve the rank score of any unrostered nation. This penalty shall be removed as soon the nation posts a roster following the beginning of the tournament. RP bonus will be scaled according to the magnitude of the ranks.
