Employment Help!

Postby Lord Phoenix » Mon May 16, 2022 5:36 am

I got a big problem in my country and it seems like it’s impossible to solve.

As of now I’m currently ranked 245,853rd in Employment and in the top 91%. No matter what issue I solve employment just keeps going down and down, I don’t know why.

I’m trying to solve issues that I think will create jobs but it does the complete opposite. Every issue I solve just keeps bringing down my employment.

Any tips on how to get my employment up?

There is this handy website called NationStates issue results that lists the effects of every decision for every event. The next time you get an event, you could CTRL+F and type "employment" to easily compare the effects of a decision. Mobile browsers usually have a search feature similar to CTRL+F. It will take time to increase employment, as most events will only effect marginal change.

Because you have a capitalist economy, try to increase your economic freedoms and reduce your tax rate. Both should increase your employment rate.

Turning to socialism in my nation made me rise from top 94% in Employment to top 3%, becoming my second highest stat.

Yeah, just from personal experience I think that capitalist economies have an inverse relationship between employment and taxation (taxes go up and employment goes down and vice-versa), while socialist economies have a positive relationship between the two (one goes up, so does the other).

Yeah, Socialism is to the employment stat what anxiety is to your heart rate...

...But that's because part of the key to boosting employment is supporting industry. Subsidize business, grow your economy, increase each average income or in any other way empower the workforce along with their wallets. People will want to work more if there are better incentives and perks to working, such as good pay, lots of career options or job security.

Also, I think political freedom and/or civil rights play into it to some extent. If people are less free politically/socially, they may be less willing or able to work

My economy is at a perfect 100 and I do believe that my industry is thriving as of now. Only thing I can guess that’s screwing me over is taxation.

What are the consequences of having the Socialism policy. I’ve been thinking about it since it aligns with my political views but I wanna learn the downside before I ever get the issue to change my economy.

I use this website all the time but the problem is when I see employment. The website claims employment will go up but when I solve the issue, employment goes down even though the website says employment will go up. Happens with a lot of things other then just employment.

In this case it would probably boost your employment because you have a rather beefy tax rate already. It might harm your economic efficiency but that's not a terribly difficult stat to raise up.

the website gives you the Average results from nation that answer that issues.
an exemple I can give is issues 630 : this green pleasant land
on option 4 : -336.83 to +120.82 Industry: Pizza Delivery (mean +0.7621) means that in general there are as many nations who lose Pizza stats from this issues then nations who gain it, yet everytimes when I answer it, I receive boost for Pizza (and never saw it decrease)
Obviously the stats also no nation lost more then 336 or gained more then 120..

#957 Putrid Predicament is another : according to the website, option 2 gives us this : -134.84 to +194.92 Industry: Pizza Delivery (mean -3.4135)
but that is average, some nations will probably lose pizza, while my World of beetles nations always gain pizza upon this choice. That a problem i have with it, its that not all nations are affected by issues the same way.

As for socialism its main effect it that it will decrease your economic freedom by 100, giving negative economic freedoms. (since you are socialist, you oppose capitalism) but in general, you should have an easier time increasing employment if you are socialist.
don,t even worry about taxes rates or your economy, by my experience, as long as you answer many issues, economy will go up, in fact, I still searching for a way to crash it on Marnady, but never found any.
Warning Political position : Far-Left, self-identify as liberal-communist. also as Feminist, atheist, ecologist and nationalist.
Support : non-corrupt state, human rights, women rights, wild life protection, banning fossil fuel, cooperatives, journalists, Radio-Canada, Télé-Quebec, public media, public service, nationalization, freedom and right to be informed, Quebec's Independence, Protection of the French Language, Immigration right and integration.

You seem to have a Frightening economy, so switching to socialism won't really change too much, I changed to socialism in an issue once I got to "Frightening", and my economy only dipped by one point. The major fall, however, would be economic freedom.

Installing Socialism affects each national economy differently depending on the issue; some will have a much stronger impact, others more tepid, unless your national economy is at least 100,0 on the Krugman-Greenspan stat, at which point changes only occur by 0,01 points give or take. And economic freedom does not necessarily 'fall' - Socialism takes it into the negatives, but that's the game's way of differentiating between Socialist and Capitalist nations. Changes to your economic freedom could, though, change your national classification, which might be a bigger impact of switching to Socialism
