Gen. Regara Beliur to be Appointed Supreme Allied Commander of IFC Rapid Reaction Force
Guadalupador News Today
-Divouga, Guadalupador- After several days of deliberation among the Grand Premier and the Cabinet Ministers, the decision to appoint General Regara Beliur as Supreme Allied Commander of the International Freedom Coalition's Rapid Reaction Force didn't come as much of a surprise among military personnel, especially to those in the Federal Army. The occasion comes after the recent landslide victory over an Ausitorian-run administration within the IFC leadership by Timmothy Moorston, Shazite Ambassador to the IFC.
With a new leadership comes a new cabinet, and the Federal Union of Guadalupador had the chance to appoint a Dorian as a new Supreme Allied Commander in charge of the IFC's military operations at large. Grand Premier Marcos announced today that General Beliur is: "...the most qualified man within our armed forces to effectively command a multi-national force. He held the line and helped turn the tide in Bethuana. He is a hero and I honestly couldn't think of anyone else who could conduct an operation as well as he can. His loyalty and love for his fellow soldiers is like no other."
The official announcement to the IFC council that General Beliur will be appointed Supreme Allied Commander is to come within the next few hours at the most, as Myra Soymian, delegate to the IFC Council, is already in session in Kairaku. General Beliur graciously accepted the appointment put on him by the Grand Premier saying that he's eager to serve alongside his friends and allies in the multinational RRF.

State of the IFC
It's been two weeks since the Shazbotdom Ambassador to the International Freedom Coalition took his position as the Prime Minister of the alliance. In his short time as head of the organization, he has accepted several Left and Right wing nations, promised simplification of the Government, and continues to attempt reforms throughout the Alliance.
At first, the former Prime Minister kept causing problems within the Council Chambers, and the offices of the building. Disturbing the peace on several occasions. Thankfully, though, he has stopped causing problems for the time being. Rumor is, also, that the Prime Minister is drafting up the legislation needed to make the changes to the Government in the manner of its simplification. Sources from within the IFC have stated that they don't know what is in it, and have not seen the physical bill, but know that it is in the works as the Prime Minister has been in meetings with his Cabinet on and off for the better part of a week.
Keep your eyes on the Shaz City Times website for more information about events within the International Freedom Coalition as they become available. We now have staff on scene at the IFC Headquarters around the clock for up to date information on the happening within the Body.

Remnant National News

URA Stands With Vangaziland

Olympia, URA

In a statement made to the press today, President Gabriel Drake released a multi-piece statement on the situation in the faraway nation of Al-Khalifiya, as well as the wayward nation's recent conflict and Remnant ally Vangaziland's involvement in the nation.

"Vangaziland has spent the last year fighting a war of liberation in Al-Khalifiya with no support from the international community. And single-handedly, they have overthrown a government, armed a populace, and given voice to an oppressed people. They now fight a guerilla war against an insurgent populace alone. That loneliness will now end."

"The URA, as well as a coalition of other nations, are lending our support to take the strain of our ally. Proud Remnant soldiers will now stand shoulder to shoulder with our Vangazi friends, and our newfound Lauraisian and Gebetan partners. Together, we will crush the guerilla Red Wind forces and finally bring peace to the nation and the people of Al-Khalifiya."

President Drake followed these statements with a plan to send a trio of Ares class Amphibious Assault Ships from the 4th Navy to transport Remnant ground forces as well as air support. This small task fleet will be escorted by Charon Replenishment Ship, a pair of Hades frigates, and a Metis class littoral combat ship. This seven-ship task fleet will be carrying all the supplies and personnel required for four battalions of the Remnant 9th Army to set up a forward operating base. The 41st Engineering Battalion, 16th Supply Battalion, 82nd Logistics Battalion, and 111th Medical Battalion are all being sent, with platoon-sized attachments from the 1st Administration Battalion and 182nd Special Services Battalion. In total, almost 4,100 personnel are being dispatched just to set up a base in Al-Khalifiya. As far as operations on the nation is concerned, the 3rd Sentinel Battalion has been activated and dispatched as well, and will be providing the back of the operations the URA plans to undertake in the nation. They'll be supported with drivers and vehicles from the 9th Army battalions staffing the base, as well as four V-24 Swift Fox multirole VTOLs and two AV-24 Foxhawk Attack VTOLs, giving the battalion an array of movement across the country. Drake didn't comment on the length of this deployment, but reassured the people this would not be another North Afrika war.

In the final moments of the speech, President Drake addressed Red Wind, the terrorist guerilla force of Al-Khalifiya, directly. "The organization known as Red Wind has been officially designated as terrorists by the Remnant National Intelligence Agency," Drake said. "So know this, members of Red Wind and those assisting them: Your card has been called. You will not get mercy from the URA. Your death will be quick, and it will be painless. Your families will never learn of your fate, but if they seek to help you, they will join you. If you aid or abet Red Wind in any way, your fate will be the same. If you try to run, we will track you down. If you try to hide, we will move mountains to find you. If you try to fight, you'll be defeated. If you try to surrender, you'll be cut down. Mercy does not exist for those who lack the ability to give it. Our soldiers will not hesitate, nor will they question anyone's loyalty. If our people find you, and your loyalty is in doubt, you will be marked a terrorist, and you will meet a very quick end. Your end is near. Good night."

One Does Not Simply Walk Into Mosul
Iraq Awakening Front fends off an attack by Jaysh Al - Islam with ease.
Français|日本語|한국어|English
Newsroom Tonight| Kirishinan Broadcasting Corporation

Bonsoir et Konbanwa, welcome back to Newsroom Tonight on the KBC Network, I'm Sugiyama Shinya in Imgeum. Our first story comes from Iraq where earlier today Jaysh Al-Islam launched an offensive on Mosul in an attempt to maintain influence and security in their held Anbar province. Mosul lies in control of the Nifon backed Iraqi Awakening Front, a group that seeks the liberation of the entire Greater Syria Area and the establishment of a free, independent Syrian Arab state governed by a policy of federalism to reflect and respect diversity in the region. Although Jaysh Al-Islam's goal was Mosul, they denied entry by the IAF and Nifonese on the plains of Nineveh. Our middle east correspondent, Bin Jong-Kwan is in Tel al-Riyah, Riysa with more. Jong-Kwan?

JongKwan: With the Anbar Province clearly being under the control of Jaysh Al-Islam, the terrorist organization made a move on Mosul in an attempt to show strength, expose IAF as well as Nifonese weakness, and capture Sunni-dominated areas to increase their potential recruitment and support pool. On the other hand, the confrontation was an opportunity for the Iraqi Awakening Front and their Nifonese allies to show off their capabilities. If attempting to strike fear into Jaysh Al-Islam and other opposition factions were the goals, then the IAF were successful.

Operation Baked Clay as it's being called lasted for approximately 12 hours and was a complete and utter rout for Jaysh Al-Islam. According to sources, due to either logistical issues or plain incompetence by Jaysh Al-Islam, a noticeable gap exploited by the Iraqi Awakening Front and Nifonese forces helped to entrap Jaysh Al-Islam. Furthermore, air support meant to aid the terrorist have reportedly failed to arrive. As a result, the terrorists were decimated in the face of the superior IAF/Nifonese forces. According to an Iraqi Awakening Front spokesperson, Jaysh Al-Islam suffered approximately 30,000 casualties as opposed to 80 local IAF soldiers killed or wounded and 2 Nifonese wounded. While many of Jaysh Al-Islam's casualties occurred towards the beginning of the battle, a good amount came as a result of the chaotic fleeing of the terrorist group which was intercepted. As one might expect the morale of JAI has been shattered and the possibility of another massive attack let alone recovery, is very unlikely.

On the other hand, the morale of the IAF and Nifonese are through the roof. From merely a defensive position, the side had managed to destroy the attacking force and the hashtag #OneDoesNotSimplyWalkIntoMosul is already trending. With this difference in success and in morale, it is likely that a JAI support base in the Sunni north is nothing else but a dream. With Jaysh Al-Islam on the ropes, the focus remains on the Iraqi Awakening Front and the Nifonese as to what will their next act be. This has been Bin Jong-Kwan from Tel al-Riyah, Riysa. Back to you Shinya-san

Shinya:Thank You. With Jaysh Al-Islam currently weaked it remains to be seen as to what is next. Will Jaysh Al-Islam continued to be eliminated or will attention be turned towards the south and the Arab Liberation Front. Now on to our next story...

Guadalupadorian Space Orbiter Providence Disintegrates During Reentry
Guadalupador News Today
-Divouga, Guadalupador- The Guadalupadorian Federal Aerospace Ministry has announced that it has lost all contact with Providence as it was performing a reentry procedure. The Providence orbiter was scheduled to end its one-month mission in low earth orbit earlier this evening, before contact was lost around 16:50 local time over Chibritinum Province in north-east Guadalupador. Eye-witnesses in Chibritinum Province claim to have seen the orbiter start to break up as it crossed over the eastern border into Guadalupador. According to a press release from GFAM, "There is without a reasonable doubt, that the Providence Shuttle has been destroyed. We are starting to direct recovery teams toward Chibritinum Province to start the search for pieces of the craft. At 1649 Hours, Nosamo Standard Daylight Time the Providence Orbiter entered its final stages of reentry, however all comms were lost two minutes later at a speed of Mach 24, and an altitude of 74 kilometers. At this time, we are still collecting all the data from the mission, and informing the families of each crewmember aboard Providence."

The crew of the Providence Shuttle included:
Flight Commander Raymus Artulis
Orbiter Pilot Marisa Gando
Payload Commander Samil Yalene
Payload Specialists Isemalda Monroy and Pyetro Semev
Mission Specialists Set Yansen, Jacque Ilyame, and Roberta Edu
It is very unlikely according to GFAM that the crew survived reentry.

GFAM is pledging that an investigation into the Providence disaster is in its opening stages, and that the Ministry is calling on its partners within the International Space Federation to help them in recovery efforts and in the proper investigation. At this time, GFAM has also cancelled any future shuttle flights for the time being, or at least until the investigation concludes. According to GFAM, astronauts aboard the Celestias Space Station will have to be resupplied and ferried to and from Earth on other ISF craft until the Orbiter program is restarted.

Kasuga: "Move or Be Moved"
Français|日本語|한국어|English
Newsroom Today | Kirishinan Broadcasting Corporation

Bonjour, Kon'nichiwa, et Annyeonghaseyo. Welcome to Newsroom Today on KBC World, I'm Woo Hae-Yun. Dirigeant Arata Kasuga signaled his intention to issue an Executive Edict in response to a perceived lack of action by some in Little Nosamo. The move marks Kasuga's first Executive Edict as Dirigeant of the Taisuist Republic and goes against his earlier stated desires to avoid using an edict for such purposes. In this Executive Edict, the main points listed are as follows. First, all Dorians who are overdue to move during the latest deadline will have a 3-month extension to cooperate in moving. Should this be done, all benefits of selecting location and living near friends will still be available. Second, After the 3-month grace period, those refusing to leave will be moved with no preference to location. Third, An appeal extension will be made available out of goodwill but with reduced perks and finally, those who file for an extension and make no effort to move, will be deported to their nation of origin at the end of the extension period. This is the most controversial part of the Edict as for many Dorians that would mean getting sent back to New Yama. For more, we turn to our KBC correspondent Kohei Munakata who has the full report.

Kohei:With the second relocation deadline for the first wave of Dorian asylum seekers now passed, it seems that the frustration of the Kasuga Administration and the pressures of various ethnic groups have reached new heights. While many Dorians have relocated their homes outside of Little Nosamo or have received an official exemption, there are still a substantial amount of Dorians who refuse to not only relocate but refuse to learn any of the official languages. After months of what critiques called passive inaction, the Dirigreant while finishing up a visit to Mellburg was confronted by the press following the missed deadline. We do not have footage but the Saeki Press reports that Kasuga looked visibly disappointed and stated that he did not want it to come down to this but has no choice but to issue an Executive Edict. He went on to say quote

"We have a system here that is not perfect but works, and has been done for many generations. The issue here has normally been how can we make it more effective and organic, not whether people will actively refuse to integrate. This has nothing to do with losing one's culture but about additional tools to fit in the home society. You can even say an additional culture. Point is this will not stand and those who refuse to move will be the end of this will move or be moved."

In the Kasuga Administration bid for transparency when not related to national security. The Federal Palace issued a statement saying that the Saeki Press piece is accurate and not falsified. Since that time some of the contents of that Edict have made it's way to the public before Kasuga-seonbae could even return to Heiwa, it is reported that he did depart Beaufort but the precise location and ETA is confidential as expected. One thing for sure is that this will be a trying time between Kasuga-seonbae and the Dorian population but also other refugee/asylum populations such as Filipinos, many of which have been critical of the Dorian asylum population. Kohei Munakata, KBC World, Heiwa.

Woo Hae-Yun: Thank You for that report. Despite Kasuga not being in Heiwa during his announcement, many people sought answers for this latest development. Federal Palace Press Secretary Omotayo Taiwo fielded some of this questions earlier. Let's take a look.

Mikan Akemi: "Akemi Mikan, The Saeki Press, With the amount of time that passed from the relocation deadline to an edict was this planned or did it happen on the spot? What was the motivation behind it? "

Omotayo Taiwo:" Kasuga-Seonbae has met with his cabinet on few occasions after the first deadline past about what to do should there be people who ignore the second deadline. There are those even then that wanted to take more aggressive action, Kasuga being the man that he is, gave more time as he has always stated that he wanted to avoid Edicts during his term. So this was planned and on the shelf for the occasion that the latest deadline was not met. As for the motivation, Kasuga just wants to ensure that there is no self-segregation. We believe this policy affects how children grow up and help make a nation very diverse...at least compared to other Asian nations remain functional."

Casel Risalge: "This is Guadalupador News Today, and reporter Casel Risalge, We've talked to a lot of ethnic Guadalupadorian business owners and restauranteurs currently living in Little Nosamo, and they're concerned that they'll be kicked out of their homes and business that they just built over the course of the year here. Will Kasuga's Edict affect them?"

Omotayo Taiwo:" No, Kasuga's Edict will not affect them. Restaurants and businesses were and remain immune to this Edict same goes for the owners. As for the employees of these restaurants and businesses they have special priority but are not completely exempt. They can file an E-1 form on the government's relocation page, at any real estate firm or website. With this, they will have priority to live in a neighboring neighborhood or at the unlikely worst-case scenario. Be located an easy commute away from their business. As expected with this sort of thing, the earlier you file the better off your exact choice is available.

Hassan Syomeo: "Hassan Syomeo, Ever Vigilant, (Yanamaist Party of Guadalupador's News Publication) So what's really behind this Executive Edict? Are you finally caving into the Sackies within your Liberty Party that want to see asylum seekers meet their deaths at the hand of the Martinezist Puppet New Yama?"

Omotayo Taiwo: "The purpose of this edict is to ensure that Dorian Asylum seekers that are planning on living here long term as citizens follow regulation like immigrants and refugees. This affects a minority in the Dorian community as many Dorians have complied with moving already. Little Nosamo is not going anywhere, it is good to have a center of culture where food, music, festivals can be followed. However, we can't have people stubbornly live there separate from the main country and not even able to communicate in any of the two and soon to be three official languages. As for the Deportation part, Kasuga-seonbae really does not want to do that and I believe it shows in the very specific violation it takes to be deported to New Yama. It's a deterrent. It's a provision for those who make no effort to move, get evicted and assigned a place to live, as we would not kick an asylum seeker into the streets. Then while receiving a notice of Eviction file an E-3 form asking for clemency and an extension to voluntarily move and then once again make no effort to move. Furthermore, for those who ignored the first two deadlines, they have three months till there a third and final deadline. This means the only way deportation to New Yama happens is ignoring the next three months, seeking an extension and then ignoring the next two months with no effort. Regular deportations for criminal activity still results in being sent to the Federal Union. "

Woo Hae-Yun: Over in Guadalupador, the preliminary reporting seems to be negative, some would believe that Kasuga and the Taisuist Republic do not care about their family members and friends and while understand the idea of assimilating into Kirishinan culture, are appalled at the notion that Kirishima would send refugees back to New Yama.

Dorians in Kirishima are more split. Most Dorians have made efforts at assimilation, but still, want a cultural community within a foreign land considering the content of the Edict, it is safe to say those concerns should dissipate in the coming days. The real issue here will be the few Dorians that refuse to assimilate. There are concerns that they will see their culture under further attack. In local social media, some have called Kasuga a liar and feel that he was very disingenuous about his promise to help asylum seekers. This has already led to some counter blowback from other immigrant groups. It remains to be seen how this story will play out in the coming days, but only time will tell and we will look towards the signing of the Edict and the third deadline to see what happens next....*paper shuffle* In our next story.....

Guadalupadorian Ultra-nationalism on the rise.
Guadalupador News Today
-Divouga, Guadalupador- According to a new set of research on public opinions at the University of Divouga's School of Public Policy, ultra-nationalism is on the rise among both the Dorian diaspora and within Guadalupador itself. The study relates recent events as "producing a potent breeding ground of ultra-nationalist tendencies and ideas." According to the publisher of the study Professor Arev Veldthi, "Lots of people are angry and demand retribution against the people that uprooted them, and are willing to place the blame on entire groups of people related to the perpetrators of such actions and events. Groups in the diaspora communities are getting together and demanding their culture and language be respected especially within Kirishima, where one of the largest Dorian diaspora communities exists. I mean, there's thousands of former Guadalupadorian Federal Military personnel out there in the world with these sort of ideas that the Federal Union failed them so they start up private military outfits and are wanting some sort of retribution in one way or another. It's a catharsis to them." commenting on the sudden rise of Guadalupadorian-run private military contractors and paramilitary groups in the wake of the Division.

Professor Veldthi also commented on the ultra-nationaist tendencies within Guadalupador. "...With that, you're seeing new groups start to become very popular, because they tell downtrodden Dorians what they want to hear, and how they're gonna 'beat the bad guys' The Yanamaist Party is seeming to embrace this tide of social and cultural dissent against the sort of diplomatic means that the Marcos government is currently embracing. The Yanamaist Party, at this point in time, is the voice for Dorian Ultra-nationalism in the Federal Union."

Major Parties Gearing Up for National Election
Guadalupador News Today

The Federation and Motherland Parties both got off to an early start this February as they selected their candidates for Grand Premier. Saito Marcos was nominated to run for a second term as Grand Premier by a majority of the Motherland Party's delegation this past weekend in Divouga while the Federation Party selected Representative Adil Balaniru as their best bet to beat incumbent Grand Premier Marcos at their party convention in Ganaan. Several other parties, including the newly-created Yanamaist Party have yet to select a candidate to field in the election but the field will soon be crowded with candidates all vying to get the highest office in the land.
Grand Premier Marcos spoke to his fellow members of the Motherland Party upon receiving the nomination:
"...Guadalupador is on a resurgence, under our near-five years of leadership, the Federal Union is a strong entity, especially in comparison with New Yama. Brighter days are certain if we stay the course and continue our work to enrich and improve the lives of all Dorians."

Adil Balaniru on the other hand had a slightly less positive outlook on Grand Premier Marcos' term in office during his acceptance speech:
"The Motherland Party and the Grand Premier have, without any doubt, stagnated Guadalupador's growth. They have perpetuated the myth that a Guadalupadorian resurgence is coming under their leadership and have showed nothing for it. Piecemeal economic improvements do not equate to a resurgence, and its apparent that in order for Guadalupador to get on the right path, Grand Premier Marcos and the Motherland Party need to get voted out of office. It is with a great honor that I accept the Federation Party's nomination to be the Grand Premier of Guadalupador, under our leadership we make a true difference that the Dorian people want and deserve out of their government."

Initial national opinion polls have Grand Premier Marcos in the lead with 48% of those polled showing a willingness to vote for a second term in office, while Representative Balaniru trails at 45%, with those that marked undecided at 7%. National Poll numbers will be subject to change

Roman and Guadalupadorian Governments Announce Joint Lunar Base

Kairaku, Kirishima – The Roman and Guadalupadorian representatives to the International Freedom Coalition announced today that the two governments had just closed an agreement to begin a joint lunar program. The objective of this program is to establish a permanent base on the moon, with an orbiting station to support. Though this is a bilateral program, the two nations wish for this program to be extended to the IFC. As the science minister for the IFC, Placus Caesius Rex expressed his desire to make this a full-fledged IFC program.

A source in the NRI has stated that the government is planning on soliciting companies for solutions for lunar infrastructure. This would include everything from physical structures to life support to internet connectivity. These solicitations would be to ensure that the facility is permanent and could expand. Some in the Roman government have expressed a wish to establish a lunar colony.

Both the Roman and Guadalupadorian governments have sent lunar missions, including establishing temporary bases for extended science missions. None of the bases were designed for continuous stays, largely due to the large cost to an individual nation. The joint funds provided by both governments will give the program the push needed to make the lunar facility permanent.

Location for Coalition Lunar Base Selected
Guadalupador News Today

Divouga, Guadalupador - "After careful review and deliberation," the Guadalupadorian and Roman governments have jointly decided that the International Freedom Coalition's first continuously inhabited base on the lunar surface will be at the Lunar South Pole, along the rim of Shackleton Crater. The Guadalupadorian Aerospace Minister addressed the press at his weekly briefing: "Shackleton has so much potential, given the rather high possibility of finding and extracting water ice just below the lunar surface, the rim of the crater basks in essentially, near-eternal sunlight giving the future base there a continuous supply of solar power. While both of our agencies looked at alternatives, such as Shoemaker and de Gerlache Craters, neither of those craters had such a high potential for ample amounts of water ice as Shackleton does."

The floor of Shackleton Crater is in perpetual darkness and could hold the key to permanent human habitation on the Moon in the form of frozen water vapor left over from comets crashing into the Moon at a much earlier point in the Earth's history, according to scientists at the Avijanos Institute of Technology. "While the evidence is far from conclusive, the very fact that we're sending a mission there is a big deal. Even if we don't find definitive evidence of substantial quantities of water ices in Shackleton, there's plenty of more places to look in the immediate area around the Lunar South Pole, anyhow:" Professor Elye Bathero spoke to GNT following the Minister's press briefing.

Avijanos Heavy Industry's stocks rose by 10 % following the announcement that the Guadalupadorian Federal Aerospace Ministry was prepared to distribute government contracts to develop future modules for the IFC Lunar Base.

Air Denial Unified Command Awards Hypersonic Defense Research Contracts to Major Contractors

New Rome, NRI – The Ministry of Defense’s Air Denial Unified Command has awarded contracts to several major defense contractors as part of its Scutum Modernization Program. This program is to develop systems to counter hypersonic weapons. This class of weapon has become very proliferated in the last several years. This poses a threat to the Integrated Air Defense System run by the Air Denial Unified Command due to the speed and maneuverability of these weapons. The NRI has spent a lot of funds in research and development of hypersonic weapons, however, research into systems to counter these weapons has been lacking.

The companies that won contracts were Roman Aerospace Systems, Planitia Utopia Research, Torsion Defense Industries, Dannicus Manufactuing, University of Syracusium Particle Dynamics Lab, Sinar Aerospace Systems, Defense Research Associates Ltd, Praeesseptentrionalis Institute of Technology, and Graduated CFD Solutions. The research will range from detection methods to interception methods. Many of the companies’ research is overlapping, allowing for a degree of competition. The Praeesseptentrionalis Institute of Technology will be designing a space-based sensor to detect hypersonic weapons, which would be similar to the existing ballistic missile detection satellites. Planitia Utopia Research and Graduated CFD Solutions received contracts to design systems to detect hypersonic weapons from aircraft.

Many Senators criticized the MoD’s ignoring of development of defensive systems against hypersonic systems. The feeling within the defense community was that a good offense would be a good defense, leading to the development of the NRI’s hypersonic cruise missile and hypersonic glide vehicle. With the rampant use of hypersonic weapons in recent military engagements have shown the NRI that the naval vessels and mainland needs a way to counter this threat.

Breaking: Teshan and Upryene Naval Forces Clash Over Fishing Area

Greppe, Uprye – After years of rising tensions, Teshan and Upryene naval vessels attacked eah other after moving to enforce each nation’s claims on the Abria Shoal. The Abria Shoal is a major fishing spot for Uprye but is just outside its internationally recognized EEZ. Since 2019, Teshan fishing vessels began to arrive at the Shoal to fish due to overfishing closer to Tesheau itself. Tensions between the two nations have been rising for years because of this.

Back in 2020, Upryene and the NRI signed an agreement that included the establishment of a military base for Roman naval vessels as a direct result of these rising tensions. This only enflamed tensions as Tesheau condemned the alliance. The base is still under construction.

It is not known if this will escalate to all-out war, but many experts believe it will. Both nations are too far into their tensions to go to the diplomatic table. The expectation is that a limited naval exchange will happen between the two nations. Both nations do not have large navies as they are both small nations, so the conflict will be small. This could change if the NRI gets involved as the balance of power would shift dramatically onto the Upryene side.

Uprye is an island nation of 371,580 Upryenes. It is a liberal democracy that was established in 1986 after gaining independence from a colonial power. Its relationship with the NRI began in 2002 with a trade deal and establishment of embassies in both nations.

Tesheau is an island nation of 11,181,595 Teshans. This nation is officially a democracy but restricts voting to a specific elite. This nation is repressive and is dealing with a growing population in limited space. This is what led to the overfishing in its local seas.

IFC Passes Resolution Requiring Members to Leave Alliances with Non-Democratic Members

Kairaku, Kirishima – The International Freedom Coalition Council passed Resolution 25a today. This resolution, called the Freedom, Continuity, and Legacy Act, was created to ensure that members if the IFC do not join alliances that poses a conflict of interest with the International Freedom Coalition. Members are now banned from becoming full members of alliances that have members that do not have freedoms and human rights record up to the standard of the IFC. This eliminates joint membership in many of the major alliances in the world.

The NRI’s Republic Senate, in response to this act, introduced an act to downgrade its membership in the Advocates for Abolition and Against Slavers to observer status. This is due to membership at least one nation whose human rights records is not up to the standard of the IFC due to war crimes committed in the name of fighting slavery. Though saddened by this shift, the Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that the NRI will continue its anti-piracy, anti-slavery, and anti-human trafficking policies.

BREAKING: NRI to Send Peacekeeping Force to Abria Shoal

New Rome, NRI – A day after the naval clash between Uprye and Tesheau left both sides with damaged naval ships and 4 fishing vessels sunk. Both sides took loses including the only Uprene frigate being damaged and forced into drydock for repairs. The Roman Ministry of Defense said today that it would be sending a taskforce to the Shoal to enforce the Uprene claim on it.

The NRI announced that it will prevent all military vessels from entering the Shoal. It will allow all Uprene fishing vessels in, however will limit the number of Teshan fishers to 2.

After the clashes, calls came in both Teshan and Uprene governments for war. The NRI hopes it can prevent war by policing the Abria Shoal. “We will be bringing this issue to the IFC Council and will be asking them for peacekeeping support” stated the Minister of Defense.

Phenyzia Embargoes the New Roman Imperium

New Rome, NRI – As more repression happens in Phenyzia, the government announced that the New Roman Imperium, along with a number of other nations that condemned the massacre of pro-democracy activists, on a list of “Hostile Actors” and placed an embargo on these nations. This move puzzled Roman government officials since the NRI had no trade policies in place with Phenyzia. “Being placed on this list of ‘hostile actors’ does not affect the NRI much, if all. I’m honestly not sure what they hoped to gain from the embargo” stated a Senator speaking on background.

This announcement happens as the Phenyzian secret police arrested over 20,000 innocent civilians claiming they were “terrorists”. Most of these people were known to be critical of the Phyenyzian government. Additionally, there has been a media blackout from a couple media sources.

The first six journalists have also been sentenced to a labor camp in punishment for their coverage of the Victory Square Massacre. For the arrests, media blackout, and punishment of journalists, the NRI released another condemnation of Phenyia and calls on the international community to do the same.

{Opinion} GENA: Absorbing Alliances at What Cost?
Guadalupador News Today

Kairaku, Kirishima-
This is an opinion piece by Galia Elde, Guadalupador's Representative in the Council of the International Freedom Coalition. The opinions expressed within this article are solely the author's and do not reflect the opinions of Guadalupador News Today or its affiliates.

Throughout history, the world has seen large alliances rise and fall though in recent memory no one organization has captured so much attention as the Global Entente of Nations and Alliances, a relatively new and burgeoning alliance that claims to be a successor to a fabled "World Assembly." It claims to stand for diplomatic cooperation between states of all differing backgrounds and ideologies, in order to ensure a more peaceful and democratic system can flourish. A noble goal for sure, but it seems lacking in practice as GENA is seemingly focused on absorbing, and annexing smaller alliances of countries in an effort to make itself the largest alliance in the world. Some of these "mergers" are indeed open and free processes, the result of fair negotiations between GENA and it's new branch; but there lies a dark underside to the giant organization, one of backdoor dealing between alliance leaders and outright takeovers of smaller organizations in the name of just getting bigger.
The countries that lead GENA, Southeast Marajarbia and Aursi insist that the intent of GENA is to keep on expanding like a sort of blob across the world. There is no peace until every nation is under the GENA fold. There is no other central goal than expansion no matter what the cost is, and it'll break GENA in the long run. In recent days, GENA merged with the League of Independent States, an organization diametrically opposed to democratic rule of law and a rules-based world, something that GENA claims to fight for. Why did they merge with LIS you may ask? The answer has been clear and has been reiterated in this very article several times before.
Is GENA destined to conquer the world through its "mergers?" The short and comforting answer is: No. There are indeed alliances and states that have resisted the assimilation of GENA and its predecessor, the GCN. The Kalisight Treaty Organization is the first alliance that seemingly comes to mind in terms of attempting to keep GENA in check, as well as the resistance of the anti-slavery alliance AFAASA much to the chagrin of GENA's host-nation, the Marjarbian Federation. Where does this leave the International Freedom Coalition? The Coalition, it can be said has no intention of being annexed by any large alliance currently. I am confident that the IFC will continue to exist long after GENA collapses in on itself through inevitable in-fighting, with the one country that enriches itself at the cost of its many client states being one of the first to fall into chaos.

Oh, how the mighty shall fall.

GFAM Prepares for Moon Base While New Space Competition Heats Up
Guadalupador News Today

Divouga, Guadalupador- Aerospace Minister Ronalde Ludens announced today that Avijanos Heavy Industry and Elsiynthi Aerospace Technologies were rewarded contracts on the design and construction of future modules for the IFC Lunar Base, while the first Guadalupadorian habitation and service modules would be made and deployed from "off the shelf" parts and modules utilized on previous missions. Ludens said that he was confident that launching and landing the first modules near Shackleton Crater could be done before the end of the year. "We've done this sort of thing several times before, but now we're here to stay, and from here we have an eye on Mars in the very near future." Ludens remarked at his press briefing.
When presented with the announcement that the Nifonese space program set a goal to land humans on Mars by the end of the decade, the Minister responded: "It's a rather high goal for the Nifonese, a country that hasn't put that much time or expertise into a manned space program as we or our compatriots in the Roman and Shazite Space Programs have." According to GFAM, the Nifonese space program has yet to develop a successful super-heavy launch vehicle dedicated to bringing humans to the Martian surface and back to Earth, though according to Shogun Maki Kojiro, that may change in the near future. The Shogun remarked on Social Media site Setsuzoku: "The Empire of Greater Nifon strives to reach new heights in every aspect. This includes the space exploration. When other nations try to climb the heavens, so shall we... A modified Bronze Dragon 7 rocket will be used to reach Mars, where a Nifonese flag will be stuck as a testament of error of all those nations which maligned us as backwards."
Ludens was also asked about the implications of the Nifonese space program on Guadalupadorian national security, Ludens told the journalist to refer to their question to the Minister of Defense before remarking that while the Nifonese Space Program was primarily military-based there is a chance through Kojiro's remarks that the push to land a human on Mars could be a wholly peaceful and scientific endeavor. One of the final questions asked at the briefing was on the possibility of scientific cooperation between the Shogunate of Nifon and the Federal Union: "Not at this time." was all Ludens said before wrapping up.

Oppinion Piece: The Politics of Peace; The Tides of War (Crimes)
Clancy DuKat - NOLA's Gambit
The world has looked on in shock as a foreign nation has unilaterally decided that a 'terrorist attack' is warranted by invading a soverign nation. Most of the international community agrees that this attack is, in fact, a false-flag operation by the leadership of the aforementioned country to try to expand it's power across the globe. It's the oppinion of this commentator that the accusations of the international community is indeed correct and they are using an attack, perpetuated by their own military, as a reason to illegally invade a foreign nation.
We must tread, though, carefully as we look for ways to ensure that we protect the soverignty of the invaded nation and seek peaceful reconciliation with the argresssor. Else we look like just as much of an aggressor as they are. Diplomacy must reign supreme for as long as possible until it can work no more.

Roman Senate Debates IFC Resolution 27a

New Rome, NRI – The controversial Resolution 27, which was edited into 27a, is the subject of debate in today’s Senate session. Members of the minority party, the Liberal Party, argued that the Conservative Party’s support of Resolution 27a is not necessary as those previsions are covered in Resolution 26. Party leadership also announced that they have a proposal for the next IFC resolution.

This resolution, which is being debated in the senate, will emphasize diplomacy, according to someone familiar with the resolution. This will shift the IFC’s current stance which has remained isolationist. The liberal Senators want the IFC to open lines of dialogue with all alliances. This will better facilitate diplomacy among alliances to prevent wars. Many liberals also hope that this will prevent conflict in the future.

The current party in power, the Conservative Party, has taken a hard line against alliances that harbor non-democratic nations. The liberals have been outspoken on this issue, as has the second minority party the Transhumanists. There are rumors that the Liberals and Transhumanists may be in talks to create a coalition government. The conservative party has 59 seats while the liberals and transhumanists have 39 and 25 respectively. Should they create a coalition, with will elect a Praetor that will oppose the Caesar and work to push their agenda.

Liberal party leader retires, shifts in parliament occur

Dutch Liberal Party leader Joseph Meinz has retired at old age of 72. His rule over the Liberal Party led to many a election victory, end of South African and East Indian apartheid and increased democratization. Due to poor health and his eldest son’s cancer he has decided to end his political career. He has stated: “My time is done. Now time for a new man for the job”. Liberal Party leadership has past to acting-chairmen Bert-Jan Ophoff. Party leadership elections are to happen soon.

Following mr. Meinz’s retirement multiple members(including Parliamentary Representatives) of the Liberal Party have changed over the ruling Conservative party. To add to injury their opposition coalition has also lost 2 smaller parties. One of these being the New Dutch Party who has joined the ruling Conservative coalition.

RSA moves up Lunar Trailblazer launch

New Rome, NRI – The RSA has decided to move up the launch of the Lunar Trailblazer launch. This decision comes days after it was announced that the Spaceborne Early Warning and Control satellite would miss its scheduled launch of 5 November 2022 due to delays in assembly. Lunar Trailblazer was scheduled for launch in January 2023, but this rover is ahead of schedule.

Lunar Trailblazer is a rover that will scout potential locations for the Roman-Dorian Lunar base on the Lunar South Pole. The rover is a major milestone in the program. Roman and Dorian, and more recently Shazite, space contractors have been working for a number of years preparing for the joint venture. The Roman government also plans on introducing a resolution to the IFC to give IFC members the option to join in into the joint venture.

Spaceborne Early Warning and Control is a joint program between the Roman Space Agency, the Republic Space Force, and space startup Solar Watch. The program’s goal is to create a constellation of solar orbiting satellites that monitor the solar weather. These satellites will operate as an early warning against solar storms can negatively affect electronics. These events, known colloquially as “Carrington-level Events” pose a major threat to the modern world which relies heavily on electronics. Having satellites that provide early warning of a storm of this magnitude will give nations and individuals the chance to protect their electronics before the storm hits.

Opinion: GENA Delenda Est

Once upon a time, international relations were stable. The United Left, Santiago Anti-Communist Treaty Organization, and the International Freedom Coalition kept each other in check and allowed a balance of power. International relations were stable. Then The United Motherland tore down the United Left, destroying the balance of power. The resulting power struggle between SACTO and IFC lead to both alliances declining and becoming inactive. This was the worst thing for international relations.

It took several years, but a series of upstart alliances have tried to fill the void. These alliances, culminating in the Global Confederation of Nations followed by the Global Entente of Nations and Alliances. These alliances claimed to be for democracy, bringing in other alliances to create a forum for dialogue, and bringing peace to the world. But these alliances failed in that.

From now on, this piece will only refer to the Global Entente of Nations and Alliances (GENA), but many of these points apply to the Global Confederation of Nations as well. GENA lost the right to call itself a democratic organization when it brought in the League of Independent States (LIS), a group that stated up front that it was anti-democracy. And it sits idly by while the state that founded LIS, Phenyzia, runs amok murdering civilians across Europe and enslaves thousands, if not millions in its colonial possessions. Even with the arrest of slavers, conditions are not improving for those in these colonies.

Even before the absorption of LIS, GENA was on a negative path. From the beginning, the point of GENA was never about spreading democracy, it was about controlling the world. To join GENA means to lose sovereignty. The preamble of its constitution – note how GENA has a constitution like a nation and not a charter like organizations do – states how the two agendas are the Legislate, Enforce, and Control and to create the New World Order. These show that GENA wants to control the member states and create the New World Order run by the oligarchical committee of “Founders”.

In Article 7 of this constitution, GENA gives its judiciary to persecute anyone who criticizes GENA (and once this article is published, that will include myself). It states that it will prosecute “individuals from economic or political rival nations and alliances who seek to spread blatant falsehoods and instigate violence through bias and propaganda without the usage of valid fact checkers”, but GENA itself controls the narrative for what is a “blatant falsehood”. And they can reject “fact checkers” if their findings are not to the oligarchs’ liking. Needless to say, as an outspoken critic of GENA, I will not be traveling to a GENA member state or nation with an extradition treaty to a GENA member state.

Back in 2015, the IFC condemned colonization. Shortly after the Senate passed a similar statement in solidarity. GENA, on the other hand, has decided that colonization is perfectly acceptable practice, and is a great “spoil of war”. Nothing says humanitarian alliance like colonizing your enemies! In the end, the article codifying colonization, Article 9, just feeds into the LEC and NOW agendas. It is how GENA strives to control those who oppose it. Invade, massacre, and force the nation to join. Colonization is an archaic practice. It has no place in the modern world where self-determination is key.

GENA wants nothing but control. I hope that my previous points have shown the reader that. But the penultimate article of the GENA constitution (Article 13) shows that. They only care about expansion. And once GENA has its claws in your alliance, it’s impossible to escape. Article 13 requires that alliances that wish to leave to pass 3 votes, one in each of GENA’s legislatures. This has the effect of if the oligarchs don’t want an alliance to leave, the alliance won’t. Self determination is nonextant in GENA, and soon so will sovereignty.

GENA presents a clear and present danger to the world as a whole. This is why I led the authoring of the revised Resolution 27b currently being debated in the IFC Council. This resolution takes all my previously stated points and condemns GENA. Globalization on this scale is a threat to national sovereignty. It is a threat to freedom. It is a threat to democracy. My tri-partisan group that authored Resolution 27b did not agree on everything, and it is a lot less hostile than I was hoping. But those in the other parties wished for an opening of democracy, so we compromised. This is what democracy is about. Working together to get the job done. Yes, we disagree. Yes, we are inefficient. But that is just how this works. GENA doesn’t want what we have. It doesn’t want what the IFC has. It wants control. It wants to be the only nation in the world, controlling everything.

GENA dēlenda est.

Opinion: Creating a New Normal In Foreign Relations

I come from a long line of politicians. My family has worked in politics in some capacity for the last 150 years. Not all of it was on the national stage. Some were local, some provincial. But we are politicians. When I joined the foreign ministry out of college, my family was a bit shocked. They had lined a job up for me as a Senator’s aid. A job that would allow me to learn the trade and make connections. But I wanted my own path. I went abroad and worked in embassies. I have been at peace talks and have witnessed the rise and fall of many, many alliances. I even was the aide to Gegania Apellina in the IFC Council before she was Speaker. My experiences have shown me that the political landscape in foreign relations is never static. And to long for a time in the past is futile. We will never have the stable era of three giants again. Instead, we must focus on the future.

My colleague, Senator Cato, informed me of the opinion piece he was writing and even had me read over it. Though I disagree with him on many topics, he knows I will keep it straight with him. And that is why I am writing this piece to come out at the same time as his article. The Roman people know we work together but also disagree. This is my rebuttal.

I worked with Cato and a number of other Senators on the creation of Resolution 27b. Frankly, I don’t like it. But my reasons for not liking it is neither here nor there. As I stated in my introduction, international relations are a constantly changing landscape. We must open lines of dialogue with all nations, even those who we may be hostile with. That is why I have championed a thawing of relations with SACTO nations. We must have open dialogue to keep a stable world.

Global Entente of Nations and Alliances (GENA) is no different. This alliance may not hold the same values as this great nation, or our alliance, but that does not mean we should cut off relations and play in our own corner. Like it or not, GENA is a large alliance with many nations in it. There is trading potential there. Opening relations would be mutually beneficial. I was hoping for more negotiation wording to be put in Resolution 27b, but what my fellow Senators and I were able to get in there is a start. It creates a solid foundation for us to go in the future and build upon it.

I hope that one day we – the nations of the IFC – and the nations of GENA will be able to have a summit to talk out our differences and work on getting relations normalized. Until that happens, I will work in the Senate to get the NRI to do that on its own. We shall spearhead the start of a new age in foreign relations. United we stand, divided we fall.

First IFC Election Observers Arrive for Palestinian Referendum
Guadalupador News Today

Ramallah, Palestine- Guadalupadorian Ministry of State Affairs Bureau of Election Monitoring officials touched down in Ramallah, Palestine today following a formal request at the behest of the Muqaddasi government for the International Freedom Coalition to monitor an imminent referendum on the self-determination of the Palestinians to either remain in union with Muqaddasia or join the Galapagos. The Guadalupadorian election monitors will be the first of many officials from several IFC states to help ensure that a safe and fair referendum is held. The Referendum is being held in line with a peace treaty known as the Yerevan Accords following an arduous alliance-spanning conflict known as the Muqaddasi-Janpian War. After several weeks of heated negotiation, the International Freedom Coalition was called on to oversee a critical portion of the treaty, more as a compromise between the two alliances involved in the conflict as opposed to the International Humanitarian Coaltion, which some nations within the Kalisight Treaty Organization (KTO) perceive as an extension of the opposing alliance, the Global Entente of Nations and Alliances (GENA.)
According to opinion polls conducted by the Muqaddasi government, 60-80% of Palestinians approve of staying in union with Muqaddasia while the other side disputes the claim as preposterous and that the real numbers on the ground tell a much different story.
