Please assume YES for all answers in the Permission Box – just TG me first if it's particularly insane and/or egregious. Also, anything COVID related can do one.
Ages are as at World Cup XCI Finals. Please subtract two years for first half of qualifying, one year for second half.

KRYTENIA 2298 WORLD CUP SQUAD
Modifier: +2.75

Image
Beginning their football journey way back in the second Baptism of Fire competition, Krytenia are one of the oldest national teams still competing in international competition. With five World Cups hosted, as well as a smattering of AOCAFs, Cups of Harmony, Baptism of Fires, and even a CAFA Cup, they also have a deserved reputation for organising top-level football competitions. What they don't have, though, is a reputation for winning. They are yet to win a World Cup, and indeed have only reached one final, losing to Aguazul in World Cup 58. Five semi-final defeats are what set the tone for the Dragons – indeed, losing in the semis of a major competition is known as the “Krytenian Curse”. That said, there is silverware in their cabinet. Having created the AOCAF Cup, Krytenia eventually won the fifty-second iteration of the competition; more recently, they won Cup of Harmony 78 and nearly added a second two cycles later, losing to fellow co-hosts Græntfjell on home soil.

They may have a reputation as the multiverse's nearly men, but never let yourself be deluded that the Krytenians are defeatist. Even though they may come up short, it's a very rare thing to see a Dragons team simply give up. Be aware that when the sky blue shirts are on the field, you will be in for a tough game, and victory will always be hard-earned.

Image
Manager – BRELK-XERAL Erv (QUS), Age ??
Started their career in his native Qusmo, where they brought first KF Atlov and then Atlov Juzuna to prominence (or at least relevance) in the domestic and international game. This led to them getting the national team job at Brenecia, which resulted in a Campeonato Esportiva trophy. With Richard Valens out on his backside after the Dragons' abysmal showing in CAFA III, "BXE" now takes the reins looking to mould the team into their own image.

Assistant Manager – Graham LAWTON, Age 45
A surprise appointment, but one in keeping with the philosophy of Brelk-Xeral Erv. Lawton has ascended to the role from his stint as manager of Ashton Olympic's Under-21 setup, and will be on board to help develop the younger players in the squad.

Goalkeeping Coach – Aaron SHEPHERD, Age 38
Defensive Coach – Andrew THORNTON, Age 51
Offensive Coach – Alex VINELLI, Age 43
Physiotherapist – Stephen WILLIS, Age 57

Image
Image
James ORWELL
Age: 28
Position: Goalkeeper
Club: Ashton Olympic

More of a sweeper-keeper than Krytenians are used to, but given the traditionally leaky nature of the Dragons' defence, that might be more of a blessing than a curse.

Image
Logan CAMPBELL
Age: 27
Position: Goalkeeper
Club: Caledon Simpson

Hair like a surfer, hands safe as houses. Campbell looks like a poster boy for a completely different sport, but he's no slouch between the sticks.

Image
David HRUBESCH
Age: 23
Position: Goalkeeper
Club: Royal Emberton

A young, agile shot-stopper willing to throw whichever body part is necessary into the path of an opponent's shot. Has a tendency to parry or punch rather than grab the ball, however.

Image
Image
Paul VONN
Age: 26
Position: Right-back
Club: Sandwell Rangers

Hard-running energetic full-back who is not afraid to throw himself in front of a cross. Tends to struggle when opposition wingers pull inside him, though.

Image
Owen PEDERSEN
Age: 25
Position: Left-back
Club: Emberton Reds

Loves to run the channels, should be right at home with Erv's pressing style. Expect him to link up well with Carlos Senna.

Image
Gavin HEALEY
Age: 24
Position: Centre back
Club: Mercia Bromham

Promising young talent with top-notch ball playing skills. So full of running, you'd swear he was powered by the mains.

Image
Daniel USHER
Age: 26
Position: Centre-back
Club: Bradwell Saints

Absolute beanpole and almost unplayable in the air. Footwork is...competent. If all else fails, will boot to the stands.

Image
David GREEN
Age: 21
Position: Left-back
Club: Ousevale Borough

Pace for days, decent positioning, can be a liability with his tackling. Let's just say his Ousevale team-mates are well-drilled in defending free kicks from wide positions.

Image
Marcus WOODFORD
Age: 24
Position: Right-back
Club: Mercia Bromham

Played right wing as a child, and tends more to the attacking than the defending side of things. Does mean he can be caught out of position on occasion.

Image
Sonny CHIESA
Age: 22
Position: Centre-back
Club: Avidia United

Has a maturity beyond his years, marshalling the Eagles' defence. Not the quickest but has the yards in his head.

Image
Shaun EVANS
Age: 23
Position: Centre-back
Club: Leston Town

Definitely one from the Ross Green Acadamy of Defence. Clinical in the tackle and good distribution in the pass.

Image
Image
Savannah QUINN
Age: 21
Position: Central midfield
Club: Avidia United

Surprisingly few women make it into the national team squad, despite Krytenian football not being gender-segregated. Quinn is absolutely here on merit, though. An absolute dervish with the ball at her feet; her and Scott Stringer will be looking to be the fulcrum of the Dragons' attack.

Image
Scott STRINGER
Age: 25
Position: Central midfield
Club: Ousevale Borough

The central midfield position is the centre of gravity around which the Krytenian attack orbits, and there are some who felt that young Stringer wouldn't be up to the task. Ousevale fans, though, knew better, with favourable comparisons to the great Ricky Sexton being bandied about amongst the Southern Arena faithful thanks to his sublime skills on the ball. Exploded onto the scene in Cup of Harmony 82; the doubters are now curiously silent.

Image
Carlos SENNA
VICE-CAPTAIN
Age: 28
Position: Left midfield
Club: Honeybadgers (EUR)

Diminutive but speedy, Senna is brimming with confidence. Set-piece specialist; there are few in the game better at taking corners. Vdarans don't rate him for some strange reason; Eurans, on the other hand...

Image
Simon MASARI
Age: 20
Position: Right midfield
Club: Casuals Osteria

Has the unenviable task of replacing Robert Reeder in the national team. Seems apt he's broken through at Reeder's old stomping ground, then. Loves a stepover, will try and create separation for a cross.

Image
Leon JONAS
Age: 25
Position: Left midfield
Club: Casuals Osteria

The thinking man's wide man. Not the fastest, but knows his angles; could probably cross the ball into the window of a moving car.

Image
Liam HAYES
Age: 21
Position: Right midfield
Club: Mercia Bromham

Tall for a winger at 6'3”, and looks like he should be tripping over his own feet. Despite this, is deceptively skillful with the ball at his feet. Will drift in to threaten the box if the ball is on the other flank.

Image
Andy McCULLOCH
Age: 23
Position: Central midfield
Club: Caledon Simpson

Hard-tackling defensive midfielder; if he's on the pitch, either Krytenia are defending a lead, or someone – probably Starblaydia – needs to be taught a lesson.

Image
Niall MONAGHAN
Age: 22
Position: Central midfield
Club: Emberton Hibernians

Slide-rule levels of passing accuracy; can be a little easy to muscle off the ball though.

Image
Image
Alexander DEVEREUX
Age: 24
Position: Striker
Club: Casuals Osteria

Sampson, Parsons, Vinelli, Meitner, and now Devereux; the position of “striker called Alex” is in safe hands. Playing alongside the experienced Alex Meitner at Casuals, Devereux has now surpassed him to replace Alun Belmwr in the national team squad.

Image
Cande MONTALBAN
VICE-CAPTAIN
Age: 31
Position: Half-forward
Club: Chromatik (CMT)

Previously used to playing on the left, Richard Valens liked to use the Chromatik forward just behind the front two, looking for space and otherwise creating merry hell for defenders. With BXE looking to play a flexible midfield five/front four, Montalban will be lurking behind Devereux and creating merry hell. If opposing defenders aren't leaving the pitch with a migraine the size of Lake Beck, Montalban considers his day to be a failure.

Image
Jason WHITMORE
Age: 24
Position: Half-forward
Club: Dereapolis City

Focal point of the Derries' attack, is most dangerous when chasing down a loose one.

Image
Remy SEYDOUX
Age: 22
Position: Striker
Club: CFF Monthuez

Very much in the mould of Alun Belmwr, right down to English not being his first language. Nicknamed “Monsieur Magnifique” by his team-mates thank to his tendency for the spectacular.

Image
Image
A new manager, and a new base formation for the Krytenians. “System Erv”, named for the new manager is, on the face of it a 4-2-3-1. With the Krytenians on the ball, however, expect this to change quickly to a 4-2-4 as the second line pushes up to support the striker. The two holding midfielders will be the fulcrum of the attack; expect the ball to move quickly between light blue shirts, especially on the counter. Press, pace, and overloading and overwhelming opposition defences will be the order of the day.

Off the ball, Krytenia will play a high line; they may be vulnerable to balls over the top – if opposition attackers can time their runs to avoid the offside and beat the Dragons' defenders for pace.

EURAN OCEANIA TERRITORIES
"The Expats"

Euran Oceania Football Federation
World Cup 91 Qualifying Squad

Kit: Blue with combination livery of Euran gold and Syndicatian white. Alternative kit is the same but Syndicatian or "Revolutionaries" green colours.
Stadium: Flynn Arena, Fligsive, 96,500
Style Mod: +3

Coaching Staff

Wolcjeck Gruber - 55 - Manager - Austroslovakia
Ian Osborne - 49 - Assistant Manager - Euran Oceania Territories

The Euran Oceania Territories is a parliamentary federal dominion of Eura, formed of the Euran zone of the former Inevitable Syndicate and the Whittorian Islands. It has a population of around forty-five million people which is quickly rising, making it a beacon of diversity home to Syndicatians, Whittorian refugees, Euran migrants, Apoxians, Audioslavians, Samebans and many others. It has possibly the world's largest artificial crater, which dominates the landscape west of what is now a rebuilt Fligsive, the capital of this new entity. Its home stadium is the the Flynn Arena, where Eura beat Polar Islandstates 4-2 in the famous 66th World Cup final. Few would have predicted that the colours of red, blue and gold would become permanent there but its happened, and the stadium is now back in good condition after an expensive refit to return it to the 96,500 capacity it held previously.

Previously a wooden stadium, the current iteration of the Flynn Arena was rebuilt after a great fire destroyed the stadium during a game between Fligsive FC and Magnaeus City. Nowadays, it's a little more robust, having been the subject of many refurbishment projects over the years. The stadium was easily reachable on the Fligsive Metro before the violent overthrow of the Corvidae regime and the associated disaster in Fligsive. It now sports a combination of the old paint job as well as Euran blue and gold while the local club Fligsive FC are still in existence despite drawing lower crowds after the Mertagne exodus. Though they did not play in the hastily cobbled together amateur EOTLeague, they are the dominant side in the new professional EOFL.

Euran Oceania Territories formed a national football team not long after the founding of the political entity, a project conjured up by the Euran government Ministry of Sport to imbue a sense of cohesion among the diverse population of EOT. They played a series of friendlies against other "Eurasphere" sides from Endemia and Rushmore in a lengthy state subsidised tour. Their first games were defeats against Daera, Itor and the Ferguson Islands, before an unexpected 4-3 victory against Helving, despite their then-Euraleague star Scott Barnes scoring a hat trick.

They then entered the 50th AOCAF full of excitement despite having a mostly amateur team, including serving military personnel, but were promptly demolished in the group stages by several teams. Once citizenship laws were relaxed to allow the growth of the Territories, the "Underdogs" as they briefly called themselves were suddenly confident that they might be able to pull off a shock or two. Their first manager was of top class pedigree - Tolgus Tregajorran, a footballing hero in Apox who was well known on the international scene.

Tregajorran managed to persuade some former Apoxian internationals, playing in Eura and with no international allegiance following the temporary dismemberment of Apoxian professional football, to sign the relevant papers and make the surprise switch to EOT, as well as Euran's and other international exiles. After several years of bit part competition EOT competed in the World Cup qualifiers for the first time and in turn the Baptism of Fire, after the Sameban national team withdrew from the Endemian International Sporting Agreement and international football.

EOT performed poorly at the Baptism of Fire, going out at the group stage, but put on a respectable showing in their qualifying group for the 80th World Cup. Tregajorran's unexpected departure and a chaotic period followed with Rhys West as manager, who was soon sacked over an off-the-pitch indiscretion. It ended with the controversial appointment of Euran footballing legend and cult icon Skorji Oslograd halfway through World Cup 81 qualifying. Immediately applying Oslograd's "Skorjiball" approach - best summarised as an extremely aggressive and fluid attacking game interrupted sporadically by the manager doing something inappropriate - the team secured some noteworthy results but remained very much an underdog competitor reliant on an aging core within its squad.

Oslograd's dream of turning the Expats into the living embodiment of "the way of the warrior" and getting them to the World Cup achieved mixed results. He put them on the map and achieved some memorable (some might say historic) victories, beating Audioslavia and Valanora being among the highlights, and during his last two campaigns Oslograd got the Expats playing their best World Cup qualifying football to date. Most importantly Oslograd played a huge role in strengthening the domestic game and creating the first professional league in the territories since the days of Mertagne. But qualification was never quite achieved despite six full attempts, and his scandalous antics frequently landed the EOFF in hot water with other countries and international footballing authorities. Eventually he dramatically departed to take up the Eura job after their bewildering failure to qualify for World Cup 87, leaving chaos behind him but arguably a strong legacy too.

EOFF chiefs were caught off guard by Oslograd's impromptu departure, and were forced to opt for a 52 year old Wolcjeck Gruber as a replacement. Gruber was the most talented and well known player to come out of Austroslovakia, Eura's western neighbour, and enjoyed a successful Gold League career with Whitepill and Brigham. Its been thirteen years since his retirement as a player and in that time Gruber hasn't done much, other than managing in Euran non-league and taking up a head coach position at Oslograd Academy. Rumour has it the old boss put in a word for Gruber, who was then appointed by a unanimous vote of the EOFF board. He requested Expat and close friend Ian Osborne be appointed his assistant, another Oslograd Academy staff member and Euran-born Expat.

Expectations were high for Gruber and Osborne; although the Expats don't have some of the experienced pre-formation veterans Oslograd had when he started, they have much more depth and a number of young prospects. Gruber has a tough act to follow and did not start well with a poor performance at AOCAF 63, but his side improved their form in subsequent AOCAF's and World Cup qualifying campaigns, with AOCAF 65 representing EOT's last journey into Atlantian Oceania's premier football tournament before realignment to Anaia.

┤ THE ROSTER ├

44- HAMADA Roshi
Height: 181cm - Weight: 90kg – Age: 25 years old - Team: Concord Dusk AFC

After signing a three year, ¥15 million contract with Concord Dusk AFC, Hamada Roshi has essentially made it as a goalkeeper in Gyatso-kai. Coming onto Concord Dusk to backup the aging Kjotvi Bar’kad is no easy assignment, however, with most analysts seeing Bar’kad retiring sooner rather than later, Hamada may see himself starting for the Black & Gold.

A player who developed an odd style in the Fire Nation, Hamada is known for stepping way in front of the net and attempting to use his physique to stop an offensive player before getting to the ball. Many attribute this odd quirk to Hamada and his twin brother Yoshi having grown up playing ice hockey; whereas Roshi would go on to find his love in football, his brother Yoshi continues to attract scouts on the ice at the University of Kyoko in the Fire Nation. Equally adept at his position as a younger Kio’los, the 2021.3 Campaign has already seen Hamada start in net twice for the Bisons; during the first victory over Ko-oren and the nil-all draw against Mertagne.

Starting World Cup XC as the backup to Armok Hikari, Hamada earned the starting position after a pair of losses which saw Armok pulled. In his first start of the campaign, Armok saved 27 shots on net and allowed zero goals against Omerica, and would go on to a 4-1-1 record for the World Cup before a stomach bug would take him out for the remainder of the tournament. After Armok retook the starting position, though, the Bisons fell flat, losing three straight matches to end the tournament on a sour note.

This resulted in Hamada gaining the starting position in both the Cup of Harmony as well as the last AOCAF. During those tournaments, Hamada managed a 5-4 record, and with only one game where he allowed more than 2 goals into the net. This performance solidified him as the new starter for the Bisons.

22- ARMOK Hikari
Height: 177cm - Weight: 80kg – Age: 29 years old - Team: Southern AFC

Entering into his eighth season with Southern AFC, Armok Hikari has continued to improve and grow when compared to his days back at the University of Omashu. Having taken over for Zhao Baoli since his retirement following World Cup 85, Armok has proven time and time again that he is set to be another storied goalkeeper for the Bisons.

Unlike his predecessor who favored sniping mid-range clears, Armok tends to favor the long-range kicks out to midpitch so as to clear as much action from the back end as possible. Also, Armok is a much more traditional goalkeeper when compared to the very ball-heavy play styles of the former starter for the Bisons; he firmly believes that his primary goal is to stop balls from getting to the net, and by clearing out the attacking zone quickly, it gives him a chance to set the team up more defensively as he does tend to hand over possession often, but that allows him to focus on the main job of stopping balls and not worrying about diving out of the box and going for more ‘flashy’ plays.

After a depressing World Cup performance, Armok was taken from the Starting XI and placed on backup. Winning just one match in World Cup XC, Armok would lose seven games and fall out of favor with then-Interim Head Coach Wong Haru. During the last Cup of Harmony and AO Cup, Armok would not see a single start, with many calling into question his continued selection to the national team. Expect to see the former starter seeing very little to any action this World Cup.

A steep fall from grace often leaves a bitter taste in the mouth…

31- LEE Findao
Height: 191cm - Weight: 94kg – Age: 22 years old - Team: Academy of South Kibago

An incredibly young and underdeveloped player – at least in terms of multi-verse play – Lee Findao took the Avatarian Football world by surprise when it was announced after The Combine that they would be taking the Reserve Position on the National Team ahead of suspected replacement Pao Lishin. Such a surprise that on the day the rosters were set to be announced, Lee had already packed themselves up and was boarding a transport out of the National Sports Complex.

Not the most confident way to start your journey to the AOCAF Cup…

With a collegiate style typical of players his size – wide stance, quick to try and muscle defenders out of the ball, and making saves from deep out of the net – we can only hope that has time goes on, Lee will continue to mature under the tutelage of Nishimura on the National Team. Though, with the fall of Armok Hikari from the graces of the Starting XI, we saw Lee gain his first appearance on the National Team, subbing in for Hamada after he began to experience stomach cramps in the eventual 4-2 loss against Valanora. Facing twelve shots, Lee only allowed one in, which unfortunately was the game-winning goal that sent the team home early.

Nothing he could have done…

Travelling With the Team

Name Age Team Nation .
PAO Lishin 25 Mando FC Earth
TSUTSAMA Yen 22 Keldabe FC Fire
TSUNADE Ki’sae 21 Kyoshi State University Mandalorian

As had been done under Vhett, Head Coach Tay’haai has instituted a Travelling Corps so as to bring young and upcoming players along with the Bisons to show them what Multiverse Play is all about. Pao Lishin, still a bit bitter about being passed over last World Cup and now for AOCAF, is a surprise to see return on the travelling corps. Last campaign, it was reported that Pao spent most of the practice days away from the other members of the goalkeeping unit; in the weeks leading up to the AOCAF Cup, it is being reported he is talking more with Goalkeeping Coach Nishimura Kenshin.

Tsutsama Yen, is a relative newcomer to the multiverse; having a somewhat average season at UA, he came to the National Team tryouts before World Cup 87 and put up some impressive physical numbers through the Combine, and thus found his way onto the Corps. Showing great promise as a younger player, he signed on with Gaoling Union after graduation and has already begun to cement himself as a strong back-up to franchise keeper Mit Wasan’i

With the promotion of Lee Findao to Reserve, the third spot on the Corps was awarded to Tsunade Kise, a young Mandalorian keeper out of Kyoshi State. At 21-years-of-age, he is set to graduate following this campaign cycle, though it is uncertain where he will wind up. Tsunade has shown a similar style to the former Bison Aki Kio’los, and of the three members of the Travelling Corps, he is the most likely to see promotion.

Left Defenders:
16- TERCAR Shuajo
[i]Height: 180cm - Weight: 84kg – Age: 28 years old - Team: Mando FC

Tercar Shuajo, who signed a four-year contract with Mando FC after graduating from Northern University, has added 8kg to his frame in muscle, yet still retains his speed. A very quick and agile defender, Tercar uses his feet and agility to outmaneuver most other players instead of relying on sheer mass to take away a ball, a tactic he learned from pairing with Itawaku during exhibition games prior to World Cup 86.

Now into his fourth campaign as starting defender, Tercar is looking to further cement himself into the team. With both Hashimoto Isamiru and Somchai Kikwan both growing older with every passing game, soon it may be time for Tercar to take his speed and agility to the centre of the pitch. Tercar bares the distinction of being one of only two players to score a goal during the last AOCAF – the lone goal against Vilita & Turori on the opening day of the tournament.

Unfortunately for Tercar, an upper body strain took him out of World Cup XC for four games, meaning that should he play during the Cup of Harmony, he will earn his century. However, given his lackluster performances during the final three games of the World Cup, combined with his early substitution during the second Omerica game, it may be unlikely that Tercar plays this tournament.

12- PAM Kai
Height: 183cm - Weight: 86kg – Age: 28 years old - Team: Senlin Timbers

Formerly the backup to the Beast of the North, Pam Kai spent five tournaments in the shadow of Itawaku, hoping to one day earn the starting spot from him or to replace him. However, at the tryout camp, it was Tercar Shuajo who shined, and received the Starting Spike from Tay’haai. Following another lackluster season in Senlin, Pam has shown himself to be a perennial backup defender; though this time, he has been kicked out of the limelight by a former classmate and teammate of his from Northern University… One has to wonder how that will play out during the tournament.

26 – Khánh KA’LOMI
Height: 190cm - Weight: 94kg – Age: 24 years old - Team: Island FC

A young Southern Watertribesman who signed a professional contract with Island FC at just 20-years-of-age, Khánh Ka’lomi is already making waves in the Avatarian sports community. With an impressive size for such a young player, many see him as the next Itawaku, and some have already started calling him “The Beast of the South”. In his first season at Island FC, Ka’lomi put up impressive numbers for a defencemen; ending his season with the highest involvement in goals by a defender with 2 goal and 7 assists to go with 6 clean sheets.

In World Cup XC, an upper body strain for Tercar Shuajo would see Ka’lomi moved into the Starting XI, and given the performance of Tercar following that strain, it seems likely that Wong has decided to trust the youthful Watertribesman to fill in and to succeed Pam Kai on the left side.

Not sure how Pam is going to take this one…

Central Defenders
5- HASHIMOTO Isamiru
Height: 178cm - Weight: 75kg – Age: 37 years old - Team: Ba Sing Se UNITED

One of the most highly-rated player for the Bison defence, Hashimoto Isamiru, or “Hashi” as he is loving called by fans, has shown himself to be a very valuable asset to the team. A strong defensive player who often falls in to a full-back position, Hashimoto has made great strides in improving his passing and marking skills since he was traded to Ba Sing Se UNITED from Keldabe FC after a very disappointing season which saw Kelabe not advance to the playoffs for the first time in five years.

However, as time as worn on, so too as age on Hashimoto. Having turned 37 during the Cup of Harmony, many have been calling for Hashi to step down gracefully and retire. However, in previous interviews over the 2021.1 Campaign, Hashimoto has already said he would not even entertain retirement until he had earned his century-and-half cap for the National Team.

We are now twenty-two games past that…

15- UTHAN A’den
Height: 185cm - Weight: 83kg – Age: 26 years old - Team:FC Beijing

A large and physically imposing player, Uthan A’den does not play a very physical game like Auranaq or Hashimoto, but instead proves himself to be one of the fastest players on the team; one who uses that speed to outpace and overtake many of his opponents. Less prove to tackle and trip, and more likely to simply run up from behind and steal the ball mid-dribble, expect to see Uthan engaging opponents closer to the net than you will be comfortable with from previous Bisons campaigns.

Having reached his century mark during the 6-2 win at home against The Juniper Union during World Cup 88 – and also scoring his first multiverse hat trick – Uthan became one of the youngest players to reach the milemark, following in the footsteps of Akiyama Qiangyu and Bralor Kotyc’e to reach a century before 25.

And given his presence, Uthan is expected to play for a very long time.

15- Ganham Ri’om
Height: 175cm - Weight: 70kg – Age: 28 years old - Team: Concord Dusk AFC

Though not as fast as Uthan, Ganham Ri’om is a full-back more focused on the offence, who uses his skill with the ball to often drive the offence from the backfield. Though Ganham can have some minor difficulties when tasked with defence (given that he played his entire career at Hatsu State as a offensive midfielder before switching to defence when drafted), he is a very dedicated player and works hard to improve where he knows there are weakness.

Right Defenders:

3- SOMCHAI Kikwan
Height: 187cm - Weight: 83kg – Age: 34 years old - Team: Itakawai City

While certainly not the oldest player in the defence, Somchai Kikwan does serve as the counterpoint to Uthan’s youthful excitement. Having graduated from Kyoshi State, Somchai is very familiar to the style of play Uthan is used to, and the two of them communicate very well on the side of the field. Very adept at playing the middle of the field, when pushed to the right side, Somchai is quick to adapt and has the endurance and stamina to keep up with the demands.

Having made his multiverse debut in World Cup 85, Somchai has continued to play through a nagging lower body injury up until World Cup 90; utlising traditional medicine as well as playing an on-off schedule which allowed Huang Aodhan and Taoru Adeen to gather more experience, Somchai is expected to play the entirety of the next World Cup,a s he did through both the Cup of Harmony and AOCAF.

23- HUANG Aodhán
Height: 183cm - Weight: 84kg – Age: 29 years old - Team: Makapu ERUPT

With Mi’rez Yiman retiring, Huang Aodhán would find himself moving up on the list of right defenders. Signed onto a Taap-A team right out of college, Huang was quick to mature and found his way onto the Makapu ERUPT three season ago. A quick study, he adapted well to his new team and soon made it to their starting eleven. Huang is a natural athlete, with impressive speed and stamina to match, and we can expect to see that natural athleticism on display as the tournament wears on and fatigue sets into the Starting Eleven.

15 – Tarou ADEEN
Height: 189cm - Weight: 90kg – Age: 26 years old - Team: Royal Flames

With the retirement of a couple of the Bisons’ core defenders, the Travelling Corps has produced another potential feature player in the form of Tarou Adeen. A product of both the Royal Fire Developmental Programs as well as serving under the tutelage of Fujimoto Zhong at Omashu State, Adeen is sure to see his number called in future tournaments, especially as players like Somchai continue to add years to their career. Though, unlike Somchai, Adeen brings more size to the right; standing at just under 190cm and weighs a little under 90kg. Combine that size with his speed and vision on the pitch, and you have a defender who can knock an opponent off course and redirect a ball to a forward without even lifting his head from his target. As with others in the lower levels of the team, expect to see Adeen as the tournament progresses.

Travelling With the Team

Position	Name Age School / Team Nation |
RD KATO Zhao Ling 23 Enceri FC Mandalorian
RD YAMADA Goro 22 Ba Sing Se UNITED Fire
CD ZHOU Hiroto 22 Concord Dusk AFC Earth

The Travelling Corps for Defense is all small trio of defenders who are all potential future Bisons.

Kato Zhao Ling, who graduated from Enceri University and signed an entry-level two-year contract with FC She Pass, is coming off his first RPFL All-Star selection and a third-place finish in the 2021.1 Season, having been traded to Enceri FC before the end of his contract and signing on an entry-level single-year bridge pending the conclusion of the 2021.3 Season. Yamato Goro surprised the football world upon graduation, having signed with Ba Sing Se over Itakawai; Yamato is certainly being watched to replace either of the aging defencemen in Hashimoto and Somchai. Zhou Hiroto, who helped Kibago University win their third consecutive Earthen Shield tournament in five years, also is vying for an eventual spot on the national roster after signing an entry-level two-year contract with Concord Dusk AFC.

Defensive Midfielders:

7- TAKAHASHI Hikaru
Height: 178cm - Weight: 76kg – Age: 38 years old - Team: Northern AFC

A strong defensive midfielder. Takahashi Hikaru’s strength lies in his kicks; easily able to send a ball soaring across the pitch with surprising accuracy, Takahashi is known for feeding the ball to the strikers and catching many opposing defences off-guard. He often has great vision, and he is easily able to read the play and can adapt accordingly.

Now, Takahashi has to step into a new role, as the oldest player on the team. With the retirement of so many of his fellow over-30 players, some feel the pressure is on Takahashi to produce more in this upcoming World Cup Campaign… or hang up the Number Seven jersey for the last time.

6- MA Haijiang
Height: 187cm - Weight: 85kg – Age: 35 years old - Team: Northern AFC

Former Head Coach Tay’haai made the unusual selection of having both of his defensive midfielders come from the same team, for reasons most can ascertain…. And it’s a decision that Interim Head Coach Wong Haru A proven veteran on the pitch, Ma Haijiang complements Takahashi’s strong kicks and accuracy with the speed to overcome most opponents; if he can not strike a ball deep, Takahashi will often send a volley up to Ma who will then run it into the offensive zone before lasering the ball to an open forward. Expect to see either Ma or Takahashi in the assist column for plenty of goals.

Though, now with both players into their 30s, and many calling for younger blood to take the reigns, one has to wonder how much longer the ‘Northern Duo’ will continue to play together… or worse, who will be the first to retire…

17- YOSHIDA Arata
Height: 177cm - Weight: 80kg – Age: 32 years old - Team: Royal Flames

Yoshida Arata is a dedicated player who has worked incredibly hard to make his way to the national team; having spent several months training with one of the greatest Avatarian midfielders to ever play the game, Bralor Kotyc’e. Time spent with Bralor has proven to greatly improve his game, seeing Yoshida climb up the ranks during the Trials for the national team. Though he has predominantly been a backup for his entire career thirteen tournaments, Arata has managed to amass ninety-two caps, and given the length of the Cup of Harmony, expected to reach the century during it. The inly question will be whether he reaches that mark as a substitution or as a starter.

Though, Yoshida is not a player you will often notice. He is not one for showboating, and very rarely makes a goal or garnishes an assist. Instead, he focuses his time on the pitch by setting up the offense for a great pass, a decisive tackle that often swings the game’s momentum, or just being able to intercept the ball at the most opportune time. One of the best midfielders in the Southern Conference of the RPFL, Yoshida is sure to see time on the pitch by relieving Takahashi or Ma in the later games of the competition.

Neutral Midfielders:

18- HISAKAWA Si Woo
Height: 183cm - Weight: 84kg – Age: 34 years old - Team: Senlin Timbers

An extremely technical midfielder, Hisakawa Si Woo is not one to shy away from trying for goals. More adept at reading the play and setting up his forwards, Hisakawa is a bit more impatient than one would like, and he posseses the speed and agility to run through a good defence and find the back of the net on occasion. He is also the only player on the Bisons who is currently unsigned; his contract with the Taap-A team Omashu Athletic ended after AOCAF LX, and with nothing really to showcase his worth, Omashu Athletic chose to not sign Hisakawa; a fact that has certainly hurt his morale going into the last World Cup. However, an impressive showing, including four goals at WC 85, saw Hisakawa sign a two-year contract with the Senlin Timbers just days after the completion of the group stage.

Attacking Midfielders:

8- YU Shichiro
Height: 183cm - Weight: 85kg – Age: 30 years old - Team: Keldabe FC

With a very offensive-minded footballing style, Yu Shichiro works as the last link between the midfield and the offence. Much like Hisakawa, Yu has been known to even advance from the midfield to score quite a few key goals in pivotal games, including the 2019.2 Ve’vut Cup winning goal against Concord Dusk AFC. He has a powerful long shot and is exceptional at heading, both of which are aided by his height. However, as skilled as he is in offense, Yu still prefers to pass the ball up to forwards for an assist in a goal as opposed to being the star player.

Height: 185cm - Weight: 81kg – Age: 28 years old - Team: Omashu Athletic (Taap-A)
A very creative midfielder, Guanyu Jun is very capable of making plays on the fly; with great vision and quick feet, he often can set up his forwards for a great goal or keep the ball moving through the middle. Though having graduated from Heibai University right after AOCAF, Guanyu, who managed to only appear in a single game during AOCAF, started in the next two World Cups as well as AOCAF 60, before being knocked off his starting position by Yu Shichiro coming into AOCAF 61. Who knows how that will play out, seeing as how many in the sports world see Guanyu as more of a playmaker than Yu and a bit more skilled despite being three years his junior.

14 – Fei’kao SONG
Height: 185cm - Weight: 81kg – Age: 27 years old - Team: FC Mando

Relatively young when compared to his teammates, Fei’kao Song chose to forgo his collegiate career, getting drafted by FC Mando the day before his twentieth birthday. Despite all the fanfare of his first season behind him, Song has not had a promising start to his sophomore season. Given his still-developing skills in midfield, his is seen as a comparatively weak player and often spends more time with the coaching staff than other more-seasoned players. Song, much like Hisakawa, is a technical player by nature whose greatest asset is not in his aim or power, but in the art of dribbling which he uses at every opportunity. While more prone to provide assists on plays as opposed to goals, Song has proven himself through Trials to Tay’haai and earned a spot on the National Team, albeit a reserve position.

Mostly comprised of Water Tribesmen, the Midfield Travelling Corps is a grabbag of talent. From the University of the Northern Tribes come home-grown Inoue Anernerk, who at just like his father, the famed Inoue Kuruk, completed back-to-back double-digit scoring seasons in his last two seasons of college; impressive for a man who is supposed to be on the defensive midfield. From UST, Kal Itowa mirrors the success of Inoue, though a career less filled with goals and more with assists. Penlu Saito, a young player from the developmental Chomain State Academy, hopes to see a professional contract within the year, and with such a great season in the ADFL, you can be sure he will at least entertain some good offers. Out of the University of Kibago, Shao Mi’ka is a relatively quiet player who has had offers from both Gaoling Union and Senlin Timbers. Dik Up’lis rounds out the Travelling Corps, bringing from Omashu State a drive for excellence many teams would love to have, even if it comes with a bit more maturing to be fostered.

9 - Dag’da SKIRATA
Height: 185cm - Weight: 85kg – Age: 28 years old - Team: Ba Sing Se UNITED

From the fabled and illustrious Skirata family, Dag’da Skirata continues to show why the Skirata’s are the most famous Avatarian family in sports; from his grandfather Kad coaching the Men’s National Ice Hockey Team to his father A’den’s 59 goals in 190 caps for the Bisons, Dag’da has some massive shoes to fill. Though his youthful energy often times shows itself in classic mistakes, Skirata is able to power his way through many the defender and be it by foot or by head, he finds the net more often than not. Earning his century in the abysmal Cup of Harmony 79, Skirata hopes to redeem himself in the next campaign set to begin in Atlantian Oceania. In-between the 2021.1 and 2021.2 Campaigns, Skirata has shocked much of the Avatarian Sports world, forgoing the expected signing with his hometown FC Itakawai and signing with their interleague rival Ba Sing Se United for an undisclosed amount; however, the six-year contract is likely one of the most expensive to be signed in recent memory.

Skirata managed to score his one-hundreth goal in World Cup 90; the go-ahead and eventual winning goal against Damukuni on matchday ten. Four more goals throughout the tournament showed that he has put the dryspell of World Cup 89 behind him, and with a pair during the 82nd Cup of Harmony and a pair during the last AOCAF, many are of the mind that Skirata has returned to his stride.

Much like Skirata, Song Kaoru comes from a sports-centric family; with his father a coach in the RPFL, his mother a third-line winger for the Ice Bisons and his younger brother the star goalkeeper for Itakawai City, fans and critics have come to expect nothing but greatness from Song. They have certainly not been disappointed in domestic play, with Song showing a near-effortless game on the pitch. Dodging defenders as if they were standing still, sniping balls past nets which might as well have been empty, Song has quickly become the media’s favorite player... especially with how he loves to be interviewed.

Older than both of the starting forwards, Li Yuuta also finds himself the oldest member of the Forward Corps. Playing the last six seasons in Island FC, Li has continued to develop as a well-rounded secondary striker; able to shield the ball from the other team and hold them off long enough for either of the Bisons’ primary stikers to get into position for a great shot. Li is very adept at striking himself, having led Island FC in Goals Scored last season.

A seasoned pivot man through five seasons at Island FC, Kim Vinh Lành is known for his ability to read the pitch and place himself ahead of a ball to bring in an attempt --- even if the pass is terrible --- through his excellent ball-handling skills. Albeit not the most conditioned player, with stamina that often finds him at the back of the pack during running exercises, Kim makes up for his endurance with incredibly fast bursts to the goal.

┤ COACHING STAFF ├

Head Coach: WONG Haru
Height: 185cm – Weight: 88kg – Age 52 years old – Team: FC Itakawai, Assistant General Manager

Once a star defender for the Bisons, following his retirement from national and multiverse play, Wong Haru made a name for himself with a brief stint in coaching professionally; first as a Defensive Coach for Solus FC for two years and then FC She Pass for another four. However, when Wakahisa Hikaru – whose infamous knee injury in the championship game for the Republic Chalice brought the nation to tears and ended his professional career – called Wong, as the General Manager for FC Itakawai, to hand him the reigns of the infamous team right when they shifted ownership, it was a call Wong could not pass up. Being the head coach of one of the RPFL’s best teams for nearly 8 years truly honed his knowledge of the game as well as his abilities to analyze and coach players to greatness, all before he was promoted within to the role of Assistant General Manager under Wakahisa. After being both a player, a captain, positional coach, head coach, and assistant general manager, the only two roles left for Wong were to be either the National Team Head Coach, and the President of the ALAF. Thanks to Tay’haai - who brought Wong on as the assistant coach for the team back at the start of his tenure - one goal was finally achieved.

Following the retirement of Wen Wuchin after the 85th World Cup, the much-younger Doctor Fong Jintao replaced the “Ol’Doc” as he was so lovingly referred to as by the team. Having served through the Grand Army of the Republic, Doctor Fong is a veritable successor to the Ol’Doc’s history as the last member of the Old Guard – all staff appointed by former-Head Coach and now Director Boba Vhett. When not travelling with the team, Fong carries the rank of Captain, First Class and serves in the 501st Legion in the First Territorial Army, stationed in Republic City; specifically, he is a resident Surgeon within the Third Avatarian Guard, and is seen as a competitor for the soon-to-be-vacated position of Head Assistant Surgeon in the Capital Medical Facility, thanks to another former member of the Old Guard retiring from that post.

A clone officer within the Grand Army of the Republic, RC-4868 was appointed Chief of Security for the National Team in 2011.1. Each time the team travels abroad --- so long as he is not engaged in a mission --- RC-4868 is pulled from service and placed into the spotlight of security. He is battle-hardened, having been raised since birth for war and combat, and as such often views these assignments with true boredom. The seven men he brings with him on assignment share the same sentiments of the ‘mission’, however, their ‘unwaivering loyalty’ to the Republic prevents any negative speak during the assignment. Each is a member of the Avatarian Guard, whose sole responsibility is to defend the Avatar at both home and abroad; this protection then extends to all sports teams travelling beyond the borders of the Five Nations.

Once the longest serving Head Coach in Avatarian History – with a record spanning 261 games, ten World Cups and multiple other multiverse competitions – it was only right for Vhett to step into the role of President of the Avatarian Leagues of Association Football. Having brought a team from nothing to the quarterfinals in 8 World Cups is not something to look away from, and although his career was tarnished slightly by the final performances of the Bisons – going 5-7-1 in his last World Cup – Vhett is confident that soon glory will be returned to the Avatarian Republics, although initial performances in all seven tournaments to date have been far from promising.

┤ PRIMARY FORMATION ├

Image

While under Tay’haai and Vhett, the Bisons utilized the modern standard of the 4-4-2 Formation. Giving the Bisons a strong midfield presence while pairing two quick strikers – in the last cup being Skirata and Song Kaoru – the 4-4-2 allowed many of the Bison games to keep low goals for an opponent while giving them a chance to rack up high goals.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t always the case…

Under Head Coach Wong Haru, the Bisons are changing up their usual style and taking out the second forward and replacing them with a stronger midfield presence in what is known as a 4-5-1 Formation. Usually taken by teams wanting to secure a lead, the 4-5-1 is often seen as a more ‘defensive minded’ formation. The extra midfielder – in this case Hisakawa Si Woo – often will float between a defensive position and a support position for the remaining forward. In choosing the speed of Skirata over the accuracy of Song Kaoru, Interim Coach Wong is giving up offensive capability to shore up defence. Especially considering that Song was the lead goal-scorer in the last World Cup, the focus on a slightly-younger Skirata may be a look to the future and keep Song on standby should the offence need a boost.

Expect to see the two men swapped out from game to game until the team solidifies. Of course, in a tournament with just four games, the team may not be able to completely figure out its new strategy in quick-enough fashion.

While initially slow to show promise, the new strategy of the Bisons, it was during the last campaign that the Bisons came into their own during both the AOCAF the Cup of Harmony, where the Bisons advanced out of the Group Stage in both tournaments for the first time since The Silence.

If only they could put that success into the World Cup

┤ HOME STADIUMS ├

Image

Official Name: Stadium of the Republics
Local Name: The Bowl
Seating Capacity: 83,686
Location: Republic City, Republic Capital Territory, Gyatso-kai
Games Hosted: MD 01, MD 18, MD 20

Located in the premier Zhaoyang District of the Republics' Capital, the Stadium of the Republics is the largest football stadium in the entirety of Gyatso-kai. Home to the R.C. United team in the RPFL, the stadium is one of the most contested grounds in the entire league; seeing as R.C. United has been the top-placed team in each of the last four seasons, as well as dominating conference play. A short drive from the largest airport in the nation - Roku Capital International Airport - as well as some of the largest and most prestigious hotels in all of Gyatso-kai, a team that plays in "The Bowl" is sure to feel more than pampered. A truly multi-verse city, with the amenities one would expect, Republic City welcomes any and all fans from all across the multi-verse to sample the true amalgamation of Avatarian culture that is our capital.

Image

Official Name: Stadia Capital
Local Name: The Stadia
Seating Capacitu: 78,050
Location: Beijing, Jing Prefecture, Earth Kingdom, Gyatso-kai
Games Hosted: MD 03, MD 11

Located on the far western shores of Gyatso-kai, Beijing is one of the largest Earth Kingdom Cities in the nation. Taking its name from the bastion-like construction of Beijing, as well as its status as the capital of the fledgling Republics before the Unification, the Stadia Capital is set to host only two matches this World Cup, so as to allocate games to the newest premier arena added to the Gyatso-kai roster.

Given that Beijing is an Earth Kingdom City, fans in attendance will be given a crash course in Earth Kingdom traditions and life. Do not be surprised should you come across bending in your journey; unlike the egalitarian nature of Republic City and the territories of the United Republics, Earth Kingdom people take great pride to incorporate their natural bending talents into their everyday lives. From train-car systems that rely on gravity to come downhill and bending to move uphill, to the Pro-Bending League games that will be held at the Earthen Ring during all five matchdays, visitors from around the multi-verse will get a taste of the blending of the traditional and the modern that occurs throughout the Republics.

Image

Official Name: Meshgeroya'yaim
Local Name: Mesh'yaim
Seating Capacit:y 79,890
Location: Keldabe, Keldabe Autonomous Province, Mandalore, Gyatso-kai
Games Hosted: MD 06, MD 13, MD 15

For the truly brave traveler, the three games held in the third-largest city of Mandalore will be quite a contrasting view than those held in Republic City or Beijing. The sights of citizens in the traditional beskar'gam of the Mandalorian Clans - from their vivid colors and striking patterns to their keen obsession with weaponry - may be a bit much for the less-than-adventurous traveler. Be warned... the Mandalorian people love to show off their culture, and any fan who finds themselves exploring the local taverns and public houses will certainly experience it fully and unabashed.

Just make sure when you walk in, you ring the beskar'naumiit... the giant bell to the side of the entry way. And no, it isn't missing the chord to ring it. You punch it...

The Meshgeroya'yaim - 'Home of the Beautiful Game' in Mando'a - is an incredible stadium located on a high elevated cliff overlooking the city of Keldabe. The capital of the province of the same name, Keldabe is a true Mandalorian town, where the traditional has been adapted to serve the modern needs. The stadium itself, which has stood on the same ground since 1890, is a hearkening back to the old ways of Mandalore. In a time when clan rules were established through combat, the Mesh'yaim has the feel of an old coliseum, with the iron sides of the outside shielding the area from all noise that is not from the game. Of course, whenever a goal is scored by the home side, the resounding roar of the Kaab'akaan could be heard through the entire region and everyone in Keldabe knew their team had made a goal.

Unfortunately, the Kaab'akaan is turned off during multi-verse play, and only sounded at the start of each half, to signal the end, and then blown twice to signal the game's conclusion.

Official Name: Tamasai Stadium
Local Name: The Cape
Seating Capacity: 63,700
Location: Molukta City, Humoki Province, Southern Water Tribes, Gyatso-kai
Games Hosted: MD 08, MD 10, MD 22

For the first time in Avatarian history, a game is set to be held in the United Water Tribes, with the newly-built Tamasai Stadium hosting three World Cup Matches.

Built in 2018.3 and home to the Southern AFC team, Tamasai is the largest football-specific stadiums constructed in the Water Tribes, and is used by the Molukta City to host multiple events throughout the year – from the biannual rivalry match between Southern AFC and Northern AFC to last season’s Republic Gridiron League’s Guanjun Bowl game and week-long festivities.

Molukta City, located on the far-southern coast of the island of Kavanganik, is an important port city for the central islands, and as such boast the culture of a metropolitan city. Expect to see little in the form of the traditional; with most of the larger metropolis in the Avatarian Republics becoming more and more blended as opposed to the traditional cities on the mainlands where cultures strive to maintain their individuality. Given the recent construction of the Tamasai Stadium, there are plenty of hotels and restaurants in the surrounding areas, and most people who visit Molukta City will feel right at home, albeit with a bit of Avatarian flair.

While it took 3 direct attempts, the Vans have finally brandished themselves a bronze at the AOCAF, the optimistic younger sibling to forgotten middle child, silver. Garnering that podium placement took more than going out for ice cream, however, as the rocky road for the nation's first consecutive semi-final appearance nearly left the crew melted in despair. A loss and a draw forced the Vans to engage with one of the dirtiest allies known to man: plot armor, in order to keep themselves alive in the knockouts. From there, it was a series of nail-biters and heart-clutchers til we were ultimately game-ended by the ones that shalln't be named. On the plus side, the bronze was won against Valanora, so that's a cool flex.

Yet, despite the incredibly bizarre strength we have in regional play, going on the international stage still hasn't enacted upon the hopes and dreams once taken for granted by Qads during the eras of Merritt, Cralt-Nirlo and Bjarnasson. Zimari had failed to get any qualifying glory; and with the way things are going for the country now, Darsten doesn't look too far off that rotten title, either. Another shaky campaign left the principality in a scathing 4th place, 2 shy of an already locked up qualifier group (mind the mischief committed against Drawkland). A grim interlude between successful regional campaigns, but it can be relatively refuted when discovering another entry in the usual light switch schedule of nationally-involved tournaments. The Cup of Harmony, a long-forgotten show in the plains of the River's End, had reared it's shiny head again, taking the Vans through some kind of interdimensional portal that landed us in a hot, humid, jungle-y area called Montana Verde. Some last-ditch successes there made way for the much more tolerable Licentian Isles, which saw us garner our first WCC playoff win since Cup of Harmony 72, beating Acastanha in the Round of 32. Krytenia of all countries would take us out afterwards, but the reappearance in a long lost cup gave the fans of Vans some hope in what's to come.

Now, at the helm of the 91st World Cup, the ex-captain-led Calcio Calico look to make one last push into achieving a success unseen in the past eon of competition. Can Qasden make their resurgence a legacy and qualify for the World Cup once again? Would Darsten be able to renew himself as an internationally adored superstar? Stay tuned, stay updated, and stay alert for yet another exciting, if not, mildly masochistic charade, culminating in another brandishing of World Cup Qualifiers!

Image Icarus Darsten
Age: 40|Position: Manager|Last Known Affiliation: Qasden NT
The former captain of Qasden, Darsten has been involved with the club from its very conception. As a hard working player whose honor and respectability could shatter diamonds, Icarus wasn't ready to part ways with competition after Sylvia's overhaul of the old team, and was enlisted as an assistant manager in her new administration. In the wake of World Cup 89, however, the association decided to ditch Zimari to pursue other names, leading to the promotion of her heir apparent to the job. Like Sylvia before him, Icarus will be put to the test in order to truly decide if he's fit for a proper replacement.

Image Ryan Xandreas
Age: 37|Position: Assistant Manager|Last Known Affiliation: Qasden NT
In the aftermath of "The Great Refresh", Xandreas, like many of the now declared "OldVans", stayed within the association as a mentor for future NT prospects. Co-leading the National Academy's midfielder program alongside Valentijn Munson, Ryan was introduced to managerial duty following the departure of aloof Cavernite, Gaston Rolf. This strange interaction led to the formation of the X-Squad, a fancy term given to the academy's foreign-foraying team competing at the then ongoing Mike Sarzo Memorial Trophy. Despite a quarter-final exit, the release of Sylvia Zimari from the association brought about a new need for a co-manager at the top; and with no other viable candidates around (save an elderly Zachary Sols and a less-so Osmer Kerrison), the academy director/manager returned to the national spotlight once again.

Image 12- Tommy Waluigi
Age: 28|Position: Goal Keeper|Last Known Affiliation: Baptists Image
Smart, loyal, and a skilled keeper who was vital to Qasden's success in AOCAFs 62 and 65. While serving as top keeper for Chromatika's Crossroads, the club breached IFCF qualification on two occasions (one at the start of his signing and one in the middle of it). Following the last campaign, Waluigi's occasionally blindspotted ego began to paint purple, moving forward with Sanford Falls' purplest squad, Baptists.
Substitute Goal Keepers
00- Cliff Rouge|21|Brenville Blue Image
25- Zinnia Thurstan|27|Hawthorne Kickers Image
Image 5- Joanna Rigby
Age: 30|Position: Defender|Last Known Affiliation: Qasden NT
Her appearance and bubbly nature would entrance anyone into believing she'd be an easy opponent, but don't let that façade fool you. The second that first whistle is blown, her attitude takes a complete 180, and suddenly those who doubted her are suddenly running for the hills! She briefly played a starting role in Sanford Falls PREMIER, though how much we want to talk about that run is a story for another time.

Image 8- Aristide Quickley
Age: 29|Position: Defender|Last Known Affiliation: Blue Mountain Range Image
Quickley's been a familiar face on the bench, rarely doing anything other than rooting on his teammates. The man's far from inferior to his comrades, of course, being an excellent fighter and tactic-savvy defender that's often sought out by newcomers for advice. While not too fussy about joining domestics, instead choosing to be a QAFA representative at various local charities, Aristide's agent felt otherwise, promoting him abroad and garnering a contract with Astograth's Blue Mountain Range.

Image 4- Cora Varnham
Age: 29|Position: Defender|Last Known Affiliation: Stahlburg City Image
Skillful, fierce, and a smartass above all, Varnham was brought up from depths unknown and displays tremendous tenacity when it comes to letting opponents past her. She serves as a pivotal player in Zimari's push for a strong defense, though her gastronomy does serve as a strong plus.

Image 2- Rufus Lester
Age: 32|Position: Defender|Last Known Affiliation: Qasden NT
A talented and agile defender in his own right, though his main rise to fame was a result of happenstance: having the insignia "DIX" when the new team once donned roman numeral kits. The long reigning funny man of the crew, Lester often tries to assume a now more 'mature' facade, with plans to even retire from football altogether following the AOCAF. Still, uh, still waiting for those retirement announcements, Rufus.

28- Slone Widovia|23

31- Kaitlyn Cecil|24
7- Maria Vosswater|22|

Image 11- Michelle McCracken (C)
Age: 28|Position: Midfielder|Last Known Affiliation: Brattleboro FC Image
By far the most dominant of the NewVans. McCracken was recruited as part of a shortlist of female players drafted by Zimari and Valentijn Munson, the first woman of the National Team. Michelle is professionally competitive, and was quick to assert herself as the commanding individual on the field, gaining Darsten's trust in her taking over as Team Captain. She's easily one of the bigger role model figures on the team, given her ability to mask the difficulty of balancing an intense work-life schedule as something with ease.

Image 13- Uwu Lekoye
Age: 23|Position: Midfielder|Last Known Affiliation: Asbury Park FC Image
One of the more popular folk at the academy, Lekoye was found to be an exceptional midfielder throughout his play in interschool scrimmages and, recently, the Olympics. Wanting to make a name for himself beyond the school walls, Uwu became one of the most recent additions to the primary XI, courtesy of a contract with Asbury Park (though not directly).

Image 22- Genivieve Orville
Age: 23|Position: Midfielder|Last Known Affiliation: Bruul Skewers Image
A will of iron in a body of bronze, Genivieve Orville's life was going to change forever the moment all that hard work-brand cereal started to reveal its prize inside. A member of the former Academy and Olympic squads, it was Orville's third adventure that would launch her social career like never before. While not immediately being admitted into the NT, Genivieve's successful captainship at the 2nd Jenna Raven Cup, paired with a stellar performance with Bruul Skewers, pushed her and a fellow Mrii-based teammate up the ladder tenfold as highly sought after prospects towards Qasden's future.

[Portrait TBA] 26- Scottie Kaestre
Age: 25|Position: Midfielder|Last Known Affiliation: Wyvernscrest Image
Scottie wasn't the likeliest candidate for the role of superstar, her absence from the international plane only disappearing at the last Olympics. Following a stellar performance at the Jenna Raven Cup, however, Kaestre quickly became a favorite among national officials to send abroad, joining Mriin's Wyvernscrest. One debut season later, paired with an exceptional domestic performance that awarded her the league's prestigious Polished Horn, Scottie Kaestre found herself at the forefront of promotion to the Starting XI. Off the pitch, she doesn't seem to interact all that much with her teammates, a complete 180 from her bombastic personality while in the kit.

Image 69- Ike Sexton
Age: 30|Position: Forward|Last Known Affiliation: Striterax Image
During the haydays of Zimari's grand adventure, this dastardly demagogue always found a way to add a little N to this SFW sport. Never anything arrest-worthy, but the jokes and gestures made him iconic in the country's meme world, especially when his name and kit number add dramatically to that festering fire. On the off hand he's not in a devious sort of mood, Ike can be a tolerable level of talkable, enough to keep busy with his fellow forward teammate, Jaylyn Bone.

Image 20- Jaylyn Bone
Age: 26|Position: Forward|Last Known Affiliation: Algolia Image
Think Ike Sexton, but actually pleasant to be around. Jaylyn was brought about as a prodigy from Chevlin, an eastern city bordering Dogsmouth responsible for the subpar sporting organization, Eastern Athletic. Bone had grown fond of Ike as a friend, and the two occupy each other most of the time, much to the thankfulness of others around them.

Venues & Other Information

Royal T.V. Stadium, T.V. City (95,000) - Vdara & Mytanija
Image
The one and only epicenter of the nation's athletics, "The Royal" is often regarded as a shining symbol of Qasden's fortunes (and misfortunes) in international competition, having held at least one match in every outdoors tournament hosted by the country. Swallowed in the heart of T.V. City, the capital and largest metroplex by far, the stadium is said to have been built during the early years of Qasden, though its original purpose may still be up in the air.

Stade de Solis, Fyre (70,500) - IA Quebec & The Licentian Isles
Image
While less-so a national symbol, the Stade de Solis remains a firebrand choice in Qad sports, being the only venue able to challenge Royal's Finals record. Grounded in the "Denver" of Qasden (whatever that means), Fyre, the stadium was once believed to have been constructed for a long forgotten domestic league, though now it serves as the historic center of sports in west of the river.

Community Greens, Qad City (69,000) - Treekidistan & Gardelrya
Image
Formerly New Qad Stadium, the redesigned, refunded, and redepressing Community Greens crawls its way back out into the hosting foray for Qasden's qualifying campaign, holding the Vans' opening and closing matches, respectively. While renovated to include more 'freshly grown berm', the stadium rather falls back onto its roots: being a superficial glass box that hosts entertaining matchups to some degree, just like the city that calls it 'BOY'. Qad City is the largest city on the riverfront of Qasden's southern coast, though not too far off from TVC itself.

Merellin Park, Elder (55,000) - The Cordian Isles & Beepee
Image
Found far from the coast, nestled deep within the farmlands of 'Upper Qasden', lies the humble Merellin Park. Named for a former prince that once found love in the town, the park serves as the hub for the Nord's sports, often competing for that title with rival settlement, Taxson. A large, but modest venue, Merellin Park is equipped with surprisingly modern flavors, including a shopping mall and miniature theme park just outside the pitch's walls.

Hotchskarth Cabin, Destiny (35,750) - Bongo Johnson & Hopal
Image
The smallest of the presented stadia, Hotchskarth Cabin found itself a staple in Qasden's "small-game" competitions, having been a perennial welcome-site for games against lesser-ranked opponents and, recently, the Blunder Cup. It's beautiful halls greet attendees to the glitz and glamor not found in the city surrounding the place, Destiny, whose constant, one-sided desire to 1-up their neighbor, Fyre, led to the stadium's arrival in the first place.

Image

The QasCup Charity Match is an organized friendly set up by the QAFA Kids Foundation, a non-profit tasked with improving relations between youth and that thing on tv their dads keep yelling about. The match will take hold following the conclusion of the qualifying campaign's main phase, allowing Qasden's National Team to have a less competitive, fun training session to keep themselves active. For this edition of the QasCup, the tournament will be heading north to the cow-crowded town of Elder, home to Merellin Park (see above), with the winner taking home the vividly vibrant "Colorful Calico" trophy. Applications for the QasCup are currently open to any organization wanting to partake in the possibilities of celebrating a meaningful cause through good-natured competition (Note: applying organization does not need be restricted to just football players. Just a shiny enough gimmick to help promote the match). We hope to see you there!

Muralos wrote:About Muralos
Muralos is a collection of islands in the Far East known as Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands. It is home to a population of Russian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and indigenous (Ainu, Nivkh, and Orok) origins. The official language of Muralos is Esperanto- a language designed to be universal and easy to learn- but the population is exceptionally multilingual, with each citizen knowing an average of 4 languages.

The Muralosian National Soccer Team
(also known as the Hawks, after Muralos’ national animal, the Muralosian Hawk)

The Muralosian national soccer team represents Muralos in association football (or soccer, as Muralosians call it). It is controlled by the Muralosian Soccer Association, the governing body for soccer in Muralos. Muralos' home ground is the Komcatt Arena in the capital city of Urbego, and its current coach is Jozefo Koltakov, former striker for CSKA Urbego and later Muralosian national team captain. Hina Kageyama and Pavel Li serve as assistant coaches.

Kits
Unusually, the Muralosian national soccer team uses only one kit with two of the national colors of Muralos. These uniforms are brand new, as the Muralosian populace voted to adopt a new flag in 2022.
(Image)
Kit made with the kit maker at Owayo.

Roster
The Muralosian roster is built around the former Muralosian men's national soccer team, whose members comprise the starting lineup. The starting players were quite young when they joined the roster in 2016. Now, they are tried-and-true forces, who (as part of the former men's team) won the Second International Football Cup in Squidroidia in 2020 after 4 years of not facing competition.

The former Muralosian men's national team and former Muralosian women's national team merged in December 2020 to form the current co-ed team. In doing so, the Muralosian Soccer Association preserved the starting lineup of the former Muralosian men's national team, while adding players from the former Muralosian women's national team to the reserves. To make up for this haphazard arrangement, the Hawks' management frequently starts its female players– including Tanya Lubimova, Rebeka Mori, Aminda Mori, Galina Shchedrina, and Valora Lin– not only in the interests of gender equity, but also because of these players' exceptional skill.

The co-ed Muralosian national team has found success, though it has not earned any titles yet. The co-ed Hawks reached the Round of 16 in the 74th Baptism of Fire, as well as the Round of 16 in the 12th Independent Associations Championship, which Muralos co-hosted with Almuzahara.

Starting Lineup of the Muralosian National Soccer Team
  • #1- Rodion Markov - Goalkeeper - as part of the U-20 Muralosian squad, he was nicknamed "the Prophet" for his formidable accuracy in guessing the direction of penalty kicks and capability to pass very wide, "seeing beyond" any obstacles.
  • #2 - Ryo Takeda - Right back - a quick, agile defender who is a key piece in all of the Hawks' counterattacks, though his explosiveness can lead to costly fouls. The only (but not the first) player on the Muralosian national team with Ainu ancestry, Takeda is Japanese on his father's side and Hokkaido Ainu on his mother's side.
  • #4 - Aleksandro Kim - Center back - born in Kurilo of Korean descent, Kim moved to Urbego at the age of 13 to attend Urbego's Zamenhof High School and was part of the team that won the FIS, Muralos' premier high school championship, in 2008.
  • #5 - Rikardo Lei - Center back - his grandparents were Fengjieans who were doctors during the Muralosian Civil War. (Unfortunately, the nation of Fengjie ceased to exist.) Exceptionally strong defender who played a very large role in the Asian Archipelago Regional Cup, most notably in the match against Elbaron in which the Hawks won 2-1.
  • #3 - Koralo Petrov - Left back - another player who rose to fame through an FIS championship. Makes very wide passes and is regarded as a good team player.
  • #6 - Mikhail Zheng - Left midfield - part of the same FIS-winning team as Aleksandro Kim. Had a brief stint playing in the Premier League of Li Qing (now the Confederation of Australian States) before returning to become a member of the Hawks.
  • #7 - Johano Abramovich - Center midfield - Formidable dribbling skills, also the leader in assists during the Asian Archipelago Regional Cup. Jokingly dubbed "the creative type" by coach Koltakov, Abramovich is well known for his long-range, curved shots, which proved useful in Muralos' 7-4 victory against Li Qing in early 2016. In recent years (since the 11th IAC), Abramovich has taken fewer of these shots, but he is still effective at assisting the Hawks' strikers.
  • #8 - Nikolaj Granda - Center midfield - No relation to Walter Granda, who represents Muralos in professional tennis. Despite what his last name may suggest, Granda is a rather petite player. At only 5'7", his shorter stature allows him to be more agile and less injury-prone compared to taller opponents.
  • #11- Vilhelmo Lumin - Right midfield - a cum laude graduate of Urbego National University, where he played in the Muralosian University League, Lumin made his first international appearance as a substitute player during the Asian Archipelago Regional Cup. Following the retirement of veteran Klaus Sverov, however, he joined the starting lineup in Muralos' match against New Zhengguo in the Embassy Cup.
  • #9 - Rui - Striker - Born Rui Zhang, he changed his name legally to Rui in July 2014. Remarkably fast and shoots penalties with good accuracy. One of the more underrated members of the team.
  • #10 - Adamo Brava - Striker - the 30-year-old team captain, widely considered to be the star player of the Muralosian team and an answer to some premier overseas soccer players. Despite his status, however, he is also known for his maturity and humility, often representing the Muralosian team in interviews and awards ceremonies.

Reserves of the Muralosian National Soccer Team
The reserves of the Muralosian national soccer team are newer to the team. All of the female players joined in the winter of 2020 as the Muralosian Soccer Association consolidated the men's and women's national teams into one.

  • #18 - Tanya Lubimova - Goalkeeper - starting goalkeeper for the former Muralosian woman's national soccer team, Lubimova's performance has long been regarded as equal to Rodion Markov's. Her role in the 74th Baptism of Fire tournament, in which she often substituted for Markov, proved that further, and now she often starts matches.
  • #17 - Ji-yong Park - Goalkeeper - starting goalkeeper for FC Havenurbo, a top-tier team in the men's Muralosian Premier League, usually second to CSKA Urbego. The 24 year-old Park uses "he" and "they" pronouns interchangeably, and they are one of Muralos' most notable non-binary athletes. Park is a capable goalkeeper who has plenty of athleticism and skill, without being as flashy as Markov or Lubimova.
  • #16 - Feodor Tanaka - Goalkeeper - starting goalkeeper for Gastello Giants FC.
  • #28 - Rebeka Mori - Left back - played for Nord-Urbo High School and now studies microbiology at the University of Oleo, where she plays for their University League team and works in the biology department's Permafrost Research Center.
  • #27 - Elena Kuznetsova - Center back - a senior at Nord-Urbo High School and a defender on the girls' soccer team there. She is also a member of the Muralosian U-21 national soccer team and a prospective University League athlete. At 18 years old, Kuznetsova is the second-youngest player on the Muralosian national team.
  • #26 - Smedun - Center back - Smedun is a defender for CSKA Urbego, the reigning men's Muralosian Premier League champions. He is, therefore, teammates with Muralosian national team members Adamo Brava, Johano Abramovich, Ryo Takeda, and Rodion Markov. Smedun is often referred to in Muralosian media as "the most attacking defender"; in the most recent Muralosian Premier League season, he scored 8 goals in 32 appearances for the team. Smedun is of Nivkh descent, and following Nivkh custom, he does not have a surname.
  • #29 - Aminda Mori - Right back - Rebeka's fraternal twin sister, she plays for the University League team at the University of Havenurbo, where she studies digital art and design. The women's teams of U. Havenurbo and U. Oleo have a long-lasting rivalry, and recently faced each other in the June 2020 women's soccer University League final. (U. Oleo won 1 - 0.)
  • #30 - Daniel "Lerta" Donaldson - Left midfield - played for Zamenhof High School and made major contributions to their semifinal and runner-up finishes in 2018 and 2019, respectively. In 2019, he enrolled at the Havenurbo Institute of Technology, where he studies mathematics and plays for the soccer team – reigning University League men's soccer champions. In the summer of 2020, he was invited to practice with the former Muralosian men's national team, becoming the second African-Muralosian player in the team's history and the youngest player with the squad.
  • #32 - Yonghua Liang - Center midfield - a starting midfielder for the Nogliki Wolves and a former winger for the Muralosian women's national soccer team. Liang grew up learning the clarinet and was adamant about learning a sport that didn't require much arm movement, for fear that she injure an arm and be unable to play clarinet. (This is why she started soccer.) She reached the University League final with the University of Oleo's women's soccer team, and was also in the concert band that performed Muralos' anthem at the match.
  • #21 - Georgo Zhong - Center midfield - a current teammate of Lerta Donaldson at Havenurbo Tech and an economics major there. While a student at Nord-Urbo High School, he scored a hat-trick against Urbego High School, securing Nord-Urbo's first FIS qualification in 10 years.
  • #23 - Galina Shchedrina - Right midfield - a recent graduate of Urbego National University like starting midfielder Vilhelmo Lumin, Shchedrina made a splash with her debut in the 74th Baptism of Fire. She is known to play well in high-pressure situations, making accurate passes even when surrounded by opposing midfielders and defenders. Currently playing for the Valnohar Rovers of the Tikariot Premier League, Shchedrina is the only member of the Muralosian national team playing overseas.
  • #20 - Valora Lin - Striker - a starter for the former Muralosian woman's national soccer team, Lin's presence on the new co-ed team is a boon for Muralos' efforts in international competition. She is sure to hold her own against starting strikers Adamo Brava and Rui, and following the 90th World Cup Qualifiers, she often starts as a third striker on the field.
  • #22 - Daniil Lee - Striker - formerly a defender and sometime striker for Nord-Urbo High School, Lee transferred to Urbego High School this year due to its more forgiving academic calendar. Now-national team coach Pavel Li noticed the 16 year-old at a U-20 national team tryout; after the Hawks' exit from the Baptism of Fire, Lee was granted a spot on the reserves as a striker. Lee scored his first goal for the Hawks in April 2021, during Muralos' group stage match against Grey County in the 12th Independent Associations Championship.

About Omerica
National anthem: “Hymn of the Avonian Martyrs” (Anglian versionGallic version)
Association code: OME

This is a legally distinct roster from the last one.

Manager: Amaya Allen-Stone (age 49; b. Saint Georges, Port-des-Saints)
More practical and disciplined than some of her predecessors, Amaya Allen-Stone is a name that demands respect in the dressing room. Rising through the ranks of Corona Christiana, she successfully turned the laughing stocks of the Quatre-Grands into Omerica’s most dangerous club side to play, having never finished lower than fifth in her reign at the Stephen Reading and unexpectedly guiding the club to three consecutive League of Victors finals, back-to-back OPSL titles and a historic treble. Allen-Stone’s sides rely heavily on pace and a high press, operating on the logic that the opposition can’t realistically score if they don’t have the ball. The question now is if she can translate her tactics from the OPSL to the national team.

Assistant Manager: Lucky Ashworth (age 42; b. Falkenburg, West Calaverde)
A long-time striker for the Incorrigibles in the early URSF era, Lucky Ashworth comes into the assistant manager job after serving as a national team scout in the late Stephanidis years. Despite her proneness to injury as a player, Ashworth was instrumental to Omerica’s back-to-back grand final runs in IAC 6 and IAC 7, winning the latter tournament despite tearing her ACL in the group stage. However, what Ashworth’s unexpected promotion to the assistant position means is only known to Amaya.

Kit credit (IC: Ferideia; OOC: Tikariot)

Team name: Græntfjall
Trigram: GRÆ [GRF when not available]
Demonym/adjective: Græntfjaller
Team nickname: Snow Wolves

Coach: Image Igrene Cantor
Assistant coach: Image Alexander Leonardsson

By mutual agreement this will be Igrene Cantor’s last tournament in charge. Since taking over the Snow Wolves she’s built on Kang Guilin’s legacy to the tune of a Cup of Harmony title and, even better, two straight World Cup qualifications (three if you, probably shouldn’t, include this one). The only knock on her legacy has been persistent failures to advance at the Copa Rushmori, but she’s assured of immortal status in Græntfjaller footballing lore regardless. Cantor has managed the team’s bigger personalities well while developing the next generation of talent and being unafraid to move on from ageing stars when the time is right; tactically, she’s put strong emphasis on possession and passing, moving away from the traditional Græntfjaller set-up with wings bombing in crosses and hack-and-slash destroyers in holding roles to a more fluid and sophisticated midfield diamond. Former NT goalkeeper Alexander Leonardsson served a forgettably average apprenticeship at Copa Rushmori 40 and continues to gain in experience, but there’s no real suggestion he’ll be in a position to take over as manager once she moves on.

Squad: A 23-person squad has been named for the tournament. Generally those numbered 1-11 will be starters, except that Tinni and Vanessa will start instead of Danny and Jason.
  • Names. -son names are men, -dóttir names women. Græntfjallers are comfortable having their first name used instead of their surnames, though there’s no consistent standard on this. Players without a patronymic surname are Kamdyr, members of a minority nomadic community; Jasmijn is female.
  • Gender. The Græntfjaller Premier League is gender-mixed and it is seen as uncontroversial for men and women to play alongside each other. If you find female players immersion breaking, you have my permission to choose an all-male side from the squad.
  • Transfers. The financial status of football in Græntfjall is improving, and million+ NS$ contracts are increasingly common. But because the GPL isn’t especially strong, most NT players and hopefuls ply their trade abroad. I normally conduct transfers through the Transfer Window but if you have a desire to sign a player I may be open to arranging a transfer outside that; send a TG/DM. I am particularly open to such deals when linked to an ongoing RP story.
  • Style of play. In general, Græntfjaller players are athletic and have excellent whole-match fitness, disciplined, and not prone to violence or emotional outbursts. They are, however, not tremendously skilled. A particular type of footballer, nicknamed “BFG” (Big Fucking Græntfjaller), is associated with the country, normally playing in roles such as center back, defensive midfielder, or center forward. The new crop of, predominantly though not exclusively, female central midfielders somewhat eschew this stereotype and there have been growing attempts to get more skilful players into the lineup, most notably Sara Kristoffersdóttir and Kæja Finnvarðsdóttir.
  • Captaincy. Græntfjall did not traditionally appoint a designated captain, and instead had the starting XI elect a captain before each captain, but this tradition has largely been abandoned. Hjörleifur Reynarsson is the permanent captain, with Johanna Álvgeirsdóttir the new vice-captain. Should both be injured, suspended, or otherwise absent, they will default to an elective model, and if I have not specified a captain, you may pick should you wish.
  • Timing. In my timeline this occurs 2 years after the last WC and 1 year after the CR. It occurs after the GPL season is over but before TW36; any players on foreign teams will be assumed to be given leave.
Goalkeepers
Cantor has demanded her goalkeepers develop skills to play it out from the back, and that – more than pure shot-stopping ability – has seemed to determine the #1 jersey.

1. Björnólfur Ernestisson (28) Image Yeaddin Owls
Appearance: Six and a half feet of lanky excellence. Shorn head. Slightly craggy features, might have a bit of troll in him.
Personality: Enthusiastic, innocent, and ever so stupid.
Profile: Long groomed as the goalkeeper of the future, Björnólfur has become the regular #1. There’s no doubting his physical attibutes, but his communication with his back line isn’t always the best and there are occasional stinkers. Massive boot on clearances. Only Græntfjaller goalkeeper to have scored in international play, but his use as an extra BFG target at corners should be strictly limited to last minute elimination stakes scenarios. The most expensive goalkepeer in national history.

12. Emmely Aaronsdóttir (27) Image Folte
Appearance: Tall and lanky. Red hair, heavily freckled pale skin, cold blue eyes. Usually wears pigtails. A bit of an overbite.
Personality: Hard working and determined, Emmely has been bouncing around the domestic leagues for a long time, but only recently come into NT contention. She’s a bit humorless and a stickler for discipline.
Profile: A fan favorite for her acrobatic saves and rugged determination, and her emotional distress at every goal scored against her. For all that she’s very much in the old-fashioned mold, more comfortable hoofing the ball upfield or unleashing a discus-like throw than playing the ball at her feet.

23. Mikkel Rúnarsson (24) Image Þingsnitz
Appearance: Well over six and a half feet. Sandy blonde hair. Dark eyes. Absolutely enormous hands that have made him a folk legend.
Personality: A stolid chap, who’s happy to muck in on the team jokes, likes a drink, and isn’t too fussy. Likeable enough, not terribly bright.
Profile: Given his physical gifts Mikkel is clearly the young pretender to the #1 shirt, but needs to work his footballing skills, his positioning, his tactical awareness, his communication, his not walking into doors… Look, you can’t teach height, OK?

Defenders
Center back is traditionally the team’s strongest position; the full backs have been the key players in Igrene’s system, asked to fill defensive duties and bring the ball up as attacking wing-backs, with a defensive midfielder playing in front who can drop back to provide cover.

2. Alyssia Noahsdóttir (24) Image GT Molding
Appearance: Strikingly snow-blonde, heavily freckled, wides purple-blue eyes. Medium height and slimmer build. Short sleeves reveal tattooed forearms.
Personality: As wide-eyed as she looks. Excitable and still trying to take it all in.
Profile: Alyssia takes over the position which has seen the greatest degree of fluctuation for the Snow Wolves, taking over from Elektra Lúthersdóttir. She’s a more attacking option but trades off in being less composed in defense. She was one of the brighter spots of the Under-18 World Cup we don’t talk about, and a key component of the Di Bradini Cup that we very much do talk about.

3. Emeli Vilbertsdóttir (33) Image Altendalur
Appearance: 5’3” with a wiry build. The moment she starts running around her pale complexion turns ruddy. Dark green eyes; naturally wavy brown hair that she straightens and wears in a tight ponytail.
Personality: Intelligent and compassionate. Hated her brief stint as captain and generally shirks the limelight. Enjoys playing chess and board games.
Profile: By now the Snow Wolves’ most consistent and experienced player. She’s excelled under Cantor, where her increasing transformation into a genuine left wing-back has repeatedly opened up attacking options and allowed the midfielders to cheat infield. The team’s most rounded defender, good in all phases of the game, though shorn of her old pace but with enough football IQ to read the gaps and make up for it. Indiscretions from CoH78 continue to haunt her and fans can occasionally be seen waving [non-sentient] kettles or irons. Don’t ask. Never enjoyed being in the leadership group and stood down as vice-captain after the last CR.

4. Hjörleifur Reynarsson (35) Image Steinaux
Appearance: 6’7” and built like a brick shithouse that has survived multiple kraken attacks. Short dark hair, starting to go gray, and a short beard, showing more than a few silver threads. Not a handsome man but people tend not to point this out within range of his overlarge ears.
Personality: He is a true leader of men; he is an indefatigable warrior; he is a supreme athlete and a genuine offensive threat. He is also dumb as an especially dumb rock.
Profile: In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king and in Græntfjall, the land of BFGs, the center back with even passable footballing skills enjoys similar renown. Hjörleifur is not the best footballer in the world, but his above-average passing and confidence on the ball married to his outstanding size, fitness, leadership, and game knowledge, have led him to MVP honors in the GPL and the captaincy. At 35 he’s slowed down and his ligaments can be heard creaking from the other side of the Komodo Channel, but he’s buckled on the knee brace for one last ride on home soil.

5. Grímúlfur Gunnþórsson (28) Image Steinaux
Appearance: A true BFG: tall, muscle bound, and with a physiognomy suggesting he can count the Ice Giants among his immediate ancestors. Short dark blonde hair.
Personality: A serious lad who works hard. Fairly conservative in his cultural and political outlook.
Profile: Having groomed as the (literal) next big thing, Grímúlfur leapfrogged Mathias Kristersson and Fredrik Thorleifsson to the front of a very long queue of center backs, but has yet to fully link up his physicality to footballing excellence (i.e. about as likely to head into his own goal as the opposition man, but wherever it’s aimed it’ll be an absolute bullet).

13. Jasmijn Spiderlair (25) Image Tanrısal
Appearance: Typical Kamdyr features: darker than Græntfjallers with dark, slightly slanted eyes, and long dark hair worn in a complex plait. Medium height, wiry build.
Personality: Intelligent, reserved, likes to speak second so she can get someone’s measure.
Profile: The first Kamdyr to ever represent Græntfjall in international football, Jasmijn is a member of the Kamdyr nomadic community. She recently completed a loan spell at AC Olarria in Astograth. She’s an attacking left wing-back, prone to the odd defensive error, but with good skills on the ball and a powerful throw.

15. Arinbjörn Markusson (30) Image Mühlrich
Appearance: 6’2” with an athletic physique, although he turns bright pink when made to run fast. Jet black hair shorn to hide balding; angular features and hard dark blue eyes. Heavily tattooed.
Personality: A rugged swashbuckler who’s more intelligent and versatile than the average BFG, but only by a bit. Unapologetically conservative in his politics but surprising progressive in his personal life and a staunch defender of the team’s gay and non-white players.
Profile: A versatile center back who can also cover left back or even range forward as a defensive midfielder. He’s a left-footed Tom Ernestisson, basically. A good athlete, he’s a powerful threat at attacking corners with his head. Poor disciplinary record. Enjoys bow hunting.

20. Sigurbergur Geirröðursson (21) Image Fliserboding
Appearance: Squat and broad shouldered with massive thighs. Craggy features. Long light brown hair that he sometimes bundles into a rough pony tail. Perpetually unshaven. Not the ugliest human being ever born, but in the top 10.
Personality: Scowling, intense bruiser. Among Græntfjallers, 5’9” is short for a man and he has a little bit of a complex about it. Reasonably intelligent and enjoys reading spy novels.
Profile: Sigurbergur offers a completely different style at right-back (he can also cover CB, albeit with a drop-off in height) to Alyssia. He’s a brutal tackler, and his unusually wide build gives him great balance; he’s also double-footed and lethal at cutting inside and hitting powerful strikes off his left. However, he’s ploddingly slow and struggles with the fitness levels needed to fulfil end-to-end wingback duties.

21. Eyvar Mathiasson (23) Image Hagejoki
Appearance: A head shorter than Reynarsson but just as wide. Very powerfully built. His slightly incongruous mop of scruffy dark hair seems at odds with his wise-beyond-his-years physiognomy, densely freckled pale skin, and serious dark eyes. He has tattoos up and down both arms and across his chest and back. Can’t grow facial hair to save his life.
Personality: A natural leader, calm, composed, and surprisingly intelligent for someone whose main qualification is his ability to slam his head into a moving leather ball and/or his opponent’s faces.
Profile: Eyvar is the captain who led the Snow Pups to their DBC title and who will one day probably take over the #4 shirt from his idol, Reynarsson. For now, he’s first off the bench to replace him, He’s solid defender with excellent fitness and an OK passing game. Part of Cantor’s project to get better ball players into defensive positions, he’s not just a physical prospect, but he can definitely put in a tackle (or elbow) when needed. Very long, powerful throw.

Midfielders
Cantor has largely eschewed the purely defensive midfielders of old, and similarly specialist wingers have gone out of style: instead, the team has been at its best under her playing a fairly narrow midfield diamond of four central midfielders operating with a certain degree of fluidity. The change to five midfielders is surprising, but reflects the bumper crop of CMs coming through Sopo Chacuzca’s youth system.

6. Danny Oddkellsson (23) Image Steinaux
Appearance: Lean, 6 foot even frame topped by a bird’s nest of black hair. Blue-gray eyes, sometimes rocks some less-than-designer stubble. Tattoos across his body and even, unusually for a Græntfjaller, onto his hands and fingers. Scar on his temple.
Personality: The living embodiment of “lads lads lads”. Loves a cheeky Nandorsson’s. Top bantz.
Profile: A bustling harrier of a player who’s got great energy on and off the ball. Plays anywhere from holding to attacking roles but best used as a box-to-box guy in support of slightly more skilled creators. Powerful shot but doesn’t score too many. Relentless, gives his all, bit lippy when decisions don’t go his way. Fan favorite.

7. Sara Kristoffersdóttir (26) Image Wirr Tsi
Appearance: 5’3” with a fairly stocky build. Long blonde hair, worn in a ponytail. Blue-eyed. Sleeve tattoo on her left arm.
Personality: Loud, boisterous, impossible, crude, trouble-making. If she weren’t good at football…
Profile: …but, she is. The debate about whether she’s worth the trouble she brings with her is over: she’s just too good to leave out of the team. One of the few national products to marry speed, skill and vision to aggression and determination. Though she can play just about anywhere, she’s developed into a fine left-winger under Igrene, and here will take up a more central role. Her maverick playmaking touch can get away from her at times, but she’ll run the field relentlessly wherever she’s deployed.

10. Kæja Finnvarðsdóttir (23) Image Tanrısal
Appearance: Quite short and slender. Pixie-cut blonde hair and blue eyes; very pale. Cute as a button.
Personality: Kæja lacks the big personality she’ll need if she is to one day command the midfield; though a creative footballer, she’s a bit shy.
Profile: Generally regarded as the most promising youth prospect to have come through the ranks, Kæja is a creative attacking midfielder in Amanda’s style, with an excellent set-piece but concerns about her lack of size and confidence. Nonetheless, after leading the Snow Pups to a Di Bradini Cup title, she has emerged as the offensive lynchpin of the future.

11. Johanna Álvgeirsdóttir (29) Image Megabrantid
Appearance: 5’8”, somewhat slender. Blonde hair in a ponytail, blue eyes. Has developed a bit of a tan. Her left arm is heavily tattooed but she almost always wears long sleeves.
Personality: Introspective and self-doubting, Johanna might be the most complex woman in the squad. She pushes herself hard and sometimes she’s not the easiest to get along with; at other times, she celebrates as hard as anyone and cries her heart on a teammate’s shoulder.
Profile: Johanna has been a mercurial figure who divides opinion. When she’s in the starting lineup, there’s criticism that she’s not as creative as Sara or as physical as a typical BFG; when she’s not, everyone’s calling for her to get her place back (only then to repeat the same criticisms). With improved fitness and conditioning she became a regular starter but has not always held onto the job, despite outstanding domestic form. Fast and with a good free-kick; a bit injury-prone. Moved to tears when her teammates voted her vice-captain.

14. Vanessa Marvinsdóttir (25) Image Steinaux
Appearance: 5’2” and very fit. Long dark wavy hair; mixed race so much darker skin than the average Græntfjaller. Style queen off the pitch; on it, usually wears a hairband and rolled-up sleeves.
Personality: Energetic and intelligent. Exuberant and loves to party and socialize, though she doesn’t let this get in the way of her football career.
Profile: A specialist winger who’s fast and agile, Vanessa can play on either flank. For club she fills the traditional support role; for country she might be asked to cover a more central role more often. Her elevation to regular starter is something of a surprise given her lack of international experience but she’s been very effective at domestic level. Her brother is defensive midfielder Valtter.

16. Amanda Guttisdóttir (31) Image Holdenberg City
Appearance: Short and fairly slight. Dark hair in a long ponytail. Keen dark eyes. Has a runic tattoo on her wrist.
Personality: Outgoing and friendly, intelligent and capable, one of the more balanced members of the squad. Has dealt with off-field issues with admirable aplomb.
Profile: Amanda started young, and has become the most capped player in national history. Yet her career has had its ups and downs: she struggled in a deep-lying role for which she wasn’t physically suited, seemed to thrive under Kang Guilin as an attacking midfielder, and has now had a more mixed time of it under Igrene, whom she likes personally, but whose approach doesn’t always suit her. She’s clearly been eclipsed by Sara and Kæja as the team’s most talented playmaker. Always regarded as a system player, she’s still a good one, and has developed into a very dangerous free-kick specialist. She lost her starting role at the last World Cup and now comes off the bench as an impact sub.

17. Valtter Marvinsson (25) Image Gortz United
Appearance: Strong build, average height, very “thicc” around the hips. Mixed race so darker in complexion than most Græntfjallers. Over-coiffed hair (the ball gets sticky with gel every time he heads it). Cheekbones you could cut yourself on. Housewives’ favorite.
Personality: Affable off the field, intense on it.
Profile: The lone specialist DM in the squad, Valtter isn’t intended to start but he could provide valuable defensive ballast as a substitute. He’s reasonably good on the ball and can pass capably enough to meet Cantor’s standards, but it’s in tackling, physicality, and marking that he really makes his mark.

18. Tinni Grímólfursson (27) Image Avenida Leal
Appearance: Lumbering 6’2” who’s added muscle in recent seasons. Short dark blonde hair. Pretty severe ice-blue eyes.
Personality: The exotic places he calls home are total contrasts to his steady, stoic disposition. A courageous battler and a teammate who’d rather die than let someone down, even though Amanda told him it was just a vending machine and to let it go.
Profile: Tinni is increasingly emerging as the next big (fucking) thing, although his performances in blue-and-white have to date not matched his club showings. He offers a strong physical presence, but he’s not just a defensive bruiser: his huge right boot (he has no left whatsoever) made him a feared free-kick specialist in Tequilo. He’s now moved to Farfadillis. Has played in central and wide roles, but appears to be setting in replacing Álfar Ásvaldursson in a holding role.

19. Kjárr Þorfinnsson (26) Image Korsbach
Appearance: Tall, with shaggy dark blonde hair and a short beard. Soft brown eyes. Ruddy faced in hot and cold alike. Vaguely handsome, vaguely threatening. Knotted with muscle. Big dragon tattoos on chest, and runic tattoos down his back.
Personality: A bit dopey. Kjárr isn’t exactly a tactical mastermind but he’s very loyal, and also doubles up as a useful coat-stand as he doesn’t tend to notice people hanging coats, hats, small suitcases, etc. on him.
Profile: A fucking warhorse who’d run through a glass door for his teammates. No, Kjárr, stop, it’s a glass door! Sigh, someone get the bandages… A BFG-style box-to-box guy who’ll run himself ragged all game, putting in big defensive and attacking shifts alike. Which isn’t to say he’s totally unskilled on the ball, and he rips an absolute snorter of a goal every 10 games or so. But definitely better suited to a holding role behind someone more creative.

Forwards
Igrene has reverted to a single striker: the double striker system never quite seemed to get the best out of either. That means once again leaving Jason on the bench.

8. Röskvi Tyrfingsson (24) Image AFC Treason
Appearance: One of the most strikingly ugly players ever to have graced a football field, Röskvi has an extremely badly broken nose that resembles nothing less than a squashed strawberry. With an untidy mop of shaggy red hair and a misshapen brow, he bears a more than passing resemblance to a ‘Chucky’ doll. Except he’s six and a half feet tall.
Personality: A selfish player who demands service and gets frustrated when the cross isn’t perfectly delivered onto his forehead. But off the field he’s happy to be one of the lads. He tends to read as a little camp. Enjoys fishing.
Profile: Röskvi is the next big thing in BFG forwards. His heading is a lethal weapon, he has a nose for goal that inspires many obvious puns given his less than model-like appearance, and he’s fearsomely strong. Poor disciplinary record and tends to give up when the game goes against him. His vault into the Nepharim leagues seems to have been a success.

9. Jason Þórhallursson (31) Image Herzegovina City
Appearance: 6’4”, muscular. Short dark blonde hair. Blue eyes. Irritatingly handsome, except for the scraggly, scruffy playoff beard he always insists on growing.
Personality: Usually gregarious and friendly, when not weighed down by the pressure of expectations. Built like a BFG but more intelligent, sometimes to his own detriment.
Profile: Jason is the all-time leading national goalscorer, but his poor performance in World Cup 89 finals and terrible CR record cost him his starting place for a time, before something of a renaissance in the most recent World Cup – only to flop again in the finals, a recurring theme in his career. A barrel-chested striker who has the odd touch of skill but mostly relies on sheer physical presence to get his goals, on his day he’s unstoppable, but those days seem more common for his club than his country.

22. Julia Wolfgangsdóttir (25) Image Char Sara
Appearance: The shortest player on the team, surprisingly for a center forward. Petite frame much like her older sister Lilly, who scored in the CoH80 final. Masses of light brown-gray-lilac hair ornamented with spell crystals. Sea-blue eyes. Extremely pale.
Personality: Flighty and ethereal. People tend to find her terribly profound or terribly vacuous.
Profile: An utter contrast to the lead strike pair, Julia is a tiny speed wizard who can zip in and out of defenses and maybe reach a header if one of her teammates gives her a shoulder-ride. Very unlikely to start but her sparkling energy could shake things up as a substitute.

STAFF

MANAGER: Image Lele Manguele - Age 43
Silver-tongued Lele Manguele should not be here. His past is shrouded in mystery: for all we know, he was a run-of-the-mill Farf until he turned up to a Royal Rumiatzi interview one day, uninvited, and convinced them to hire him as manager. He bedazzled fans and neutrals alike with his gung-ho attacking style but eventually got sacked because he couldn't win the league to save his life. He did break the league record for most goals scored in the process, however, and nobody thinks of his stint there as a failure. He then convinced the FFFF to send a squad to the Di Bradini Cup after about two decades, and then took over as manager there. The team performed dreadfully, but Alex Terán, the FFFF's president, liked Manguele's initiative and style of play enough to hand the senior team over to him for World Cup 89. He's even been given full control, no questions asked. His first cycle was a moderate success overall, mostly owing to the FFFF's low expectations. With a penchant for the bizarre, even by Farf standards, Manguele is sure to, at least, confuse.

ASSISTANT MANAGER: Image Gylfi Haukason — Age 59
Famously bad at winning, Gylfi Haukason nonetheless has a lot of experience at the top level, having managed Savojar sides to third-place finishes consistently in the SFS, as well as the Savojar national team. The less said about that last job of his, the better. His role is to play the sane man to Manguele's insane man, provide some actual tactical know-how and be the target of frequent derision from Manguele himself.

CHIEF SCOUT: Image Lele Manguele — Age 43
He likes to work overtime, ok?

TEAM MEDIC: Image Lele Manguele — Age 43
He is not a licensed physician, but that is not going to stop him.

PUBLIC RELATIONS MANAGER: Image Lele Manguele - Age 43
For better or worse.

STARTERS

#1 — Image Rogerio Defigueroa — aGKa — Age 25 — Image Mâ Âlâmëómë ImageImageImageImage
Rogerio first burst onto the scene after three or four of Avenida Leal's goalkeepers hit a very rough patch of form at the same time. Aged just seventeen, he impressed, and had since mostly failed to live up to the expectations he set then... until last AOCAF Cup, when he truly shone as Farfadillis made a somewhat unlikely run to the final. He... did not impress nearly as much in the final itself, as Farfadillis got thrashed 5-2. He's tall and has great reflexes, and is not half bad at timing his runs to come out of the box.

#6 — Image Tipi Izotzubia — aLBa — Age 21 — Image Rülândéá Kôstä ImageImageImageImage
Tipi Izotzubia is one of many suspiciously Rulandese-seeming Astograthians to have signed for Rülândéá Kôstä, a club that is looking likely to vow to sign every Astograthian in existence any day now. He got called up for the Astograthian national team, but a small legal kerfuffle in which he was accused of being Rulandese, not Astograthian, sort of forced him to switch allegiances. He's much more at home at la Vherderoja; he's even speaking to teammates! This is something he never did with his fellow Astograthians for whatever reason. On the pitch, he's a hulking but nonetheless fast player with some flair, but not as much as you'd expect from a starting Farfadillis NT fullback. Still, he's a machine, and nobody following the S-FPL will begrudge Manguele for pouncing on the opportunity to call him up.

#2 — Image Ecésar der Efer — aCBa — Age 30 — Image Ausharmuj Marusi ImageImageImageImage
Accidentally discovered by the FFFF during the Eagle's Cup, der Efer was a fully amateur player for surprisingly long, before signing for S-FPL club Ausharmuj Marusi. He's recently gone from a dependable but unremarkable centerback to a dependable and remarkable centerback. He almost never sets a foot wrong and has plenty of experience against top-tier opposition. However, he's completely inept on the ball and not nearly as physically imposing as some of his competition. Still, his recent form coupled with the lack of decent options for centerback make him a starter.

#4 — Image Têrçêr Ànáxímane — aRBa — Age 31 — Image Sabrefell Moths ImageImageImageImageImage
Very pacey, with great technique and defensively somewhat okay. However, what he lacks in tactical genius and good positioning, he makes up for by being a huge fucking asshole. On the pitch, he's very good at getting away with just enough to avoid being sent off. Off the pitch, he's a big bully (just ask Marajis). He doesn't crumble under pressure and scores surprisingly often for a fullback. He's also got plenty of experience at the highest level, as he was a key piece of a two-time S-FPL-winning Dí Maozöxê team, and now has a couple seasons in the Zenith under his belt too. Expect to see him flying up and down the pitch relentlessly with Manguele's in charge, as he will want to fully exploit his offensive capabilities.

#3 — Image Ígnîgo Çí Xôrí — aCMa — Age 32 — Image Mâ Âlâmëómë ImageImageImageImageImageImage
Currently the best Farf player, hands down. He's got astonishing technique, fantastic vision, high endurance and is quite decent defensively to boot: almost the ideal box-to-box midfielder. Historically, he has been inconsistent, however, which has proven frustrating for fans (both at national and international level). When he's on one of his good days, though, he is completely unplayable, and as of late most of his days are good days. He's capable of single-handedly grabbing a game by the throat purely by utterly dominating in midfield. His performances in the AOCAF Cup were good enough to make any Farf dream of winning the World Cup once again.

#5 — Image Eslejes Aljojí — aCMa — Age 34 — Image Ausharmuj Marusi ImageImageImageImageImage
Another player who started off as an amateur before the Eagle's Cup changed his life forever, Eslejes has been a dependable, boring midfielder for Ausharmuj Marusi for the longest time. He's the quintessential box-to-box midfielder and seems to be in top shape despite having just turned thirty-four. No PEDs involved, rather surprisingly. In fact, he's only been getting better, and is nowadays an undisputed starter, not least because he appears to be quite clutch. A serviceable player who many Farves lament did not reach his peak sooner.

#10 — Image Edmün Çídh — aOMa — Age 33 — Image Raynor City United ImageImageImageImageImageImage
A very complete player. Fast, good at dribbling, good at playmaking and good at finishing. The complete package. So much so, that Manguele has decided to irritate him by playing him as an attacking midfielder, instead of his preferred position as an out-and-out striker. The change of positions has really suited him, so he's done throwing tantrums over it. Unsurprisinhly, he is reportedly not a great influence off the pitch, and allegedly has a very cold relationship with his brother, the more hardworking but considerably less talented Röémün Çídh. Reining in his ego will be an important part of making this a good cycle.

#11 — Image Tôsgo Alxíkí — aLWa — Age 30 — Image Revolutionaries ImageImageImageImageImage
As usual, la Vherderoja features many astonishingly fast players. Tôsgo might be the fastest among them. He has great technique, a good shot and fantastic dribbling—coupled with an “indomitable will” if you're into cringe descriptions—all of which make him one of the best players in the squad. However, one can't help but feel like he just hasn't lived up to his potential: many genuinely thought he could become as good as, say, Wínrôuge or Dandalleion. Not a big problem, though: he is still World Class, and he will still be causing problems to pretty much any defense he faces, at least as long as he gets good service. If anyone on the team is going to create that “spark” needed to break the lock in a very even game, chances are it will be... ok, probably Çí Xôrí, possibly Çídh, but there's also a decent chance it will be Alxíkí.

#8 — Image Eötrenois Rigozsoldos — aRWa — Age 23 — Image René Skaé ImageImageImageImage
Scarily clinical, devilishly fast and very technical. At twenty-three, he looks like he'll be leading the line for many years to come... but first he'll have to content himself with a starting spot as a right winger, as opposed to his preferred position, striker. For all his talent, he's not quite good enough to force the Çídh and Çêwé off the starting eleven. Manguele, for the time being, seems mostly interested in making him more versatile; specifically, he seems to want to teach him to play as an inside forward. It's hard to fault him: Eötrenois definitely has the skillset for it, as the AOCAF Cup in Jabal Akhdar made very clear.

#7 — Image Röémün Çídh — aSTa — Age 31 — Image AC Izotz Zubia ImageImageImageImageImage
The less-talented-but-slightly-taller-and-stronger-and-that's-gotta-count-for-something version of his older brother Edmün, Röémün is a very hard-working player who you'd be forgiven for thinking is not Farf at all based on his personality. His great poaching skills actually had him outscoring his more talented brother for a good bit. He can be quite wasteful, but nonetheless seems to always carve out some chances for himself when no other player can. Having been relegated to the bench by Manguele, he gambled and moved to Izotz Zubia despite knowing he'd only get rotated into the squad. There, he performed well enough to force Manguele's hand and make him a starter again, moving his brother Edmün out of position, which we can only imagine left him immensely satisfied.

#9 — Image Vâásk Çêwé — aSTa — Age 27 — Image CA Paulinthal ImageImageImageImage
A true journeyman, Vâásk has played for, like, three or four different teams, which is a lot in this Multiverse. Nowadays, he's going through a purple patch of sorts, having won the Jade Boot (top goalscorer award in Nephara's second-tier, for the casuals), arguably dragging his team kicking and screaming into the Zenith, before having a good season in the Zenith itself, getting himself a move to Pasargan giants CA Paulinthal, where he hit the ground running by grabbing himself a Golden Boot. There are better Farf strikers out there that Manguele could be calling up, but Çêwé brings to the table things that other strikers don't: grit, slyness and nudes of Lele Manguele that he uses as blackmail. Supposedly, those nudes are not threatening enough to make him a starter, but Vâásk's recent form did the rest.

SUBSTITUTES

#12 — Image Dieje Ibrelaná — aGKa — Age 34 — Image Urbizania Wanderers ImageImageImageImage
Ibrelaná is pretty good. Not super good, sure, and not quite at the level of Farfadillis' past goalkeepers. He's acrobatic and his positioning is good. Yes, he can be shaky when playing as a sweeper-keeper which is—perhaps—not ideal for a Farf goalkeeper. Defigueroa has finally managed to usurp him of his starting point, but watch out for any blunders from the Faroleran because Manguele will not hesitate to hand back the starting spot to a fellow Ferdullaelan.

#23 — Image Lís Âllásí — aGKa — Age 28 — Image Lonngeylin Coast ImageImageImageImage
Another one of those players that popped out of nowhere. Âllásí, at best, rang a bell to some obsessed Farf football fan when he started putting in decent performances for Lonngeylin Coast. There's a dearth of goalkeepers so, in that context, it's impossible to pass up on one who is starting for a V-League team. Lís has a knack for unpredictability, which is a decidedly bad trait for a goalkeeper, but he makes up for it with great reflexes and great speed to come out of his line. If Defigueroa slips up, Lís is sure to usurp him of the starting spot as soon as Ibrelaná is removed from the equation.

#13 — Image Agapeto Chayra — aLBa — Age 24 — Image La Nueva Avenida ImageImageImageImage
Occasionally, a tidy, not overly attack-oriented fullback will be promoted to the senior squad in some Farf team and then proceed to have a good season despite having minus infinity name recognition. Agapeto's one such player. He's not Manguele's type, but Farfadillis really lacks left-backs at the moment (Exihosahar's injury did not help) and the kid is undeniably talented. Plus, he's been going from strength to strength domestically. Too bad an Astograthian snatched the starting spot from him at the last possible moment.

#14 — Image Vyacheslav Khavarin — aCBa — Age 31 — Image La Nueva Avenida ImageImageImageImage
Vyacheslav is, in fact, Savojar. Through and through. Born and raised in Savojarna, signed for La Nueva Avenida aged twenty-one. He had quite a lot of trouble picking up the language, though by now he can speak it (with a very, very thick accent). He has never identified as Faroleran, Farf or anything like that. However, since the Farfadillis national team does not strictly represent any national entity, eligibility is very easy to attain: just ask. Since there's a terrible dearth of good centerbacks at the moment, and Khavarin didn't look likely to get a call-up from his country of birth, Manguele got to business and convinced him to wear red and black instead. What does the Savojar have going for him? Well, he's massive. Like, almost two meters tall. He can also defend.

#15 — Image Kolejes Marajis — aRBa — Age 33 — Image Gortz United ImageImageImageImageImage
“But mister, I'm a winger!” Kolejes cried (while also crying) when informed by Manguele that he would be played out of position throughout the entirety of cycle eighty-nine. Two years later, things hadn't changed, and four years later... things still haven't changed. Kolejes is a fast, slippery, technical and somewhat selfish winger who's actually quite good at crosses when he can bother to attempt them instead of trying to dribble his way into the box. Manguele is very insistently trying to retool him into a fullback, with defensive responsibilities and all. He also wants him to attempt a lot of crosses. Kolejes is dreading this, but he can't really complain: he's too chicken shit for that, and is quickly garnering a reputation for it, too, most recently because he turned down Spartangrad, Crisisbless and Mâ Âlâmëómë because his girlfriend told him too.In Astograth, his reputation precedes him, and he's arguably better than Rigozoldos, who is being played out of position by being played in Marajis' natural position. Anyway, not being a pushover pays off, kids.

#16 — Image Mbogo Nørgaard — aCMa — Age 27 — Image Revolutionaries ImageImageImageImageImage
Half-Banijan, half-Fröndti, Mbogo's undoubtedly very talented. He's got a gifted physique and good playmaking skills. Bit of an all-rounder, but not quite a specialist at anything. Whenever he's subbed in, he'll be expected to provide balance in midfield (that is to say, defend!), while Çí Xôrí will be freer to do his own thing. Still, don't be surprised if you see him marauding up the pitch out of nowhere, since it's exactly the kind of thing Manguele will be asking him to do every now and then. He's fast and he's technical, and he's got a pretty mean long-range shot, so he could surprise more than one team. Should be hitting his prime any time now, so will probably be desperate to get his spot back from Aljojí.

Tall-ish, strong-ish and with seemingly endless stamina, Fujanej makes for a great box-to-box midfielder with some extra grit. He is somewhat lacking in raw technical prowess when compared to some of his teammates, but his strengths more than make up for it. Admittedly, he'll have a terrible time trying to break into the team, since he's got a ton of better competition, but he'll have to make do.

#18 — Image Tè Xüwân — aTKa — Age 22 — Image Rülândéá Kôstä ImageImageImageImage
The kid's been trained by Rülândéá Kôstä to be a takilante since he was fifteen. He's tireless, he's got great dribbling skills, and he's great at smelling out chances to score. With no other (good) takilante in sight (Jáánsêlà is still way too green, after all), expect Tè to get a decent amount of playing time if the situation calls for one. If he does get subbed in, yellow and red cards are very, very much not out of the question, so Manguele would be taking that into account if he cared about that kind of thing at all.

#19 — Image Yonatoño de la Garza — aLWa — Age 21 — Image Antiguoko FC ImageImageImageImage
It takes someone special to come through La Querida's youth system and somehow still manage to be a decent player. Yonatoño has managed just that, all the while being lauded as the most compassionate, friendly, admirable, gullible and dumb person you could ever meet. He's very fast and he's a good crosser of the ball. A very good crosser of the ball, and Manguele is a sucker for that. He can be very one-dimensional, and he doesn't look like he could grow into a higher-dimensional player, but sometimes one dimension is enough. Especially if you're a winger and your manager is Lele Manguele.

A winger with insane pace and a lot of attitude as well as, uh, an ongoing sharp decline in his abilities. Nonetheless, his pace alone still makes him hard to control, and he's still got the nerves of steel needed for the important matches. He's got a very direct style—both on and off the pitch—so expect him to cause trouble to any slow defenders or unprepared journalists. He'll be desperate to claw his way back into the eleven, especially with only a couple more years as an insanely pacey winger left now that he's thirty-two.

#20 — Image Çè Quîrîjá — aSTa — Age 31 — Image Gunzlach ImageImageImageImage
Quîrîjá is a very fast striker with lethal finishing. He is also simultaneously one of the most beloved and reviled players in the Græntfjaller league, owing to his very, very backstabby move from Steinaux to Gunzlach. Manguele likes a striker with personality, and Quîrîjá is evidently able to provide that, especially when you consider that he technically was a part of the revolutionary movement that took control of Rülândéá when he started out at Lâ Lüs. Another reason for his call-up is that he's much more familiar with host nation Græntfjall than the other members of the team. That's not actually relevant in the slightest, but Manguele hasn't figured that out yet.

#21 — Image Horacio Bastanchury — aSTa — Age 29 — Image La Nueva Avenida ImageImageImageImageImage
Farf players are like cockroaches in that they can pop up anywhere, so it was no surprise when some nineteen-year-old started banging them in in Siovanija and Teusland for some middling club. He's now signed for La Nueva Avenida and has been scoring relentlessly. He's fast and good at finishing. It's a simple, but very effective combination. Bastanchury's a nice lad, though, so he'll do his best to respectfully leave his mark in what could be his last cycle with the national team, if Manguele continues to give him the cold shoulder for no apparent reason.
