History
Nadatura is a far-flung one hundred and fifty square mile island with its geographical centre at 16.93070509876554, 178.33007812500003 northeast of the Marshall Islands. In the late 19th Century it became a part of the German New Guinea colony. After 1918 and the collapse of the German Empire, Nadatura was for a short time occupied by the Japanese Empire.
in 1920 the Japanese troops left. The country without outside support suffered greatly, which after an appeal a massive economic boost from the United States steadied things. It was sustained by surprise findings of mineral deposits which helped by the United States allowed it to somehow be able to weather the Depression-era without a sudden economic collapse.
World War II showed that it would be a serious player in the area, through its two airbases and many ports being used by the United States as stop-off points for the Pacific Theatre.
The Cold War saw differing influences as the Soviet Union after establishing relations with the newly reborn Republic helped fund their military with affordable weapons and equipment. They did not try to influence the government as it was expected that the USA would not tolerate any communist presence too close to US held territory.
1991 saw the end of Soviet support but the United States still sent goods and tourists to fund the economy. However, as the 90s wore on there was a serious downturn in economic and political stability. The coup of 27th March 1998 saw the democratic government overthrown by a military-led junta which would lead the country into the new millennium.
As the USA reeled from 9/11, President George W Bush and his advisors decided to intervene as the junta was a thought potential terrorist haven. In early 2002 the CIA was asked to deliver money to the anti-government opposition. Guerilla warfare began and slowly the junta slowly lost their grip on power.
But the country fell into a bad succession of poorly led and corrupt governments, with the tipping point happening on 8th July 2002. The Nadatura Liberation Army attacked the government led armed forces with a surprise coordinated assault. Despite the initial gains, the NLA was unable to gain much more than a third of the western half of the country. After just over eight months of fighting, the war would end with the negotiated peace that birthed the now Nadaturan nation on April 19th 2003.
Entering the World Stage
The Democratic Republic of Nadatura after independence immediately made good progress with the first agreements being made in Beijing with the People's Republic of China and in Vladivostok with the Russian Federation both being signed end of March 2004. Treaty of Nadatura-US Cooperation signed on April 29th 2004 brought Guam and the Northern Mariana''s into the Madaturan nation on May 15th 2004, as part of closer ties with the US.
Becoming a Kingdom
On October 18th 2004, the Nadaturan Senate would finally pass the legislation to turn the country into a monarchy as it was before the German Empire's conquest of the islands in 18922. The search for someone with a strong valid claim to the newly created throne had taken not too long as the person had been living in Nadatura. He had a link right back to the last monarch Karian III. James Materina would become King James I, Monarch of the Kingdom of Nadatura as the country would now be called. His wife would become Queen Katrina, Queen Consort of the Kingdom of Nadatura.
