[DRAFT] Commend The North Pacific

Postby Pigeonstan » Sat May 07, 2022 6:46 am

The Security Council hereby wishes to commend The North Pacific, The North Pacific is the second largest region in the world, with a highly effective machine made possible by several nations,

The North Pacific is made special by its unique history and position. The North Pacific is giant due to it being a feeder region. It was heavily targeted by coups and raids during the earlier years of its existence, including the innovation of seeing the delegate as head of state instead of just ambassador to the World Assembly. McMastredonia over the years, built the North Pacific Army so as to help defend The North Pacific and its allies, and r3naissanc3r, who pioneered the Card Programs, dedicated to creating a large collection of International Artwork, r3naissanc3r also helped mold the ever successful Ministry of Home Affairs, a ministry designed to increase engagement within the region, which helped further the security of the region from coups by increasing endorsement,

Recognizing that The North Pacific is at the forefront of the Nationstates community in running an effective regional government. The North Pacific created a card program, first being implemented in January 2019. Currently, The South Pacific (which is the second most governmentally advanced region in Nationstates) The Ministry of Engagement, which is The South Pacific's version of The Ministry of Home Affairs, was created on September 7th 2020, The North Pacific created its ministry of Home Affairs well before 2014 The East Pacific despite having an extremely complex set of names for roles has to rely on endorsement limits for regional security. To put this into context, The North Pacific has a relatively simple set of governance, yet thanks to their innovative solutions to problems, requires no such thing. The North Pacific has tools dedicated to allowing its nations to reach endorsement counts into the 700s. The North Pacific, has the most member nations, has the most endorses, and has the most effective government out of the GCRS. The world is positively impacted by getting a role model, to base their regional governments off of,

Recognizing that The North Pacific has one of the most functioning democracies,
The North Pacific every four months holds an election to choose a delegate, vice delegate, and other elected positions, these elections are held securely and are safe from tampering, and the North Pacific has one of the most trusted regional governments, there are a total of 88 active members of The North Pacific's Electorate, most of whom voted so as to choose the delegate. Furthermore, with 1200 total members of the North Pacific regional square, and many foreign delegates, the engagement is powerful. when madjack won the delegacy, hundreds of nations flocked to help smooth the transition of power for the delegate elect. These candidates are extremely open with their plans, to the point wherein the constitution of the North Pacific, it is a crime to lie in one's campaign, all of this helps create a highly engaged, and more importantly, functional democratic process within The North Pacific. This has a large positive impact, as it creates an aura of competition around the TNP, which improves it's and the rest of the governance of the world,

Recognizing that The North Pacific is actively working against invasions and threats to regional sovereignty, The North Pacific has an army, which has a home base of The North Pacific Army, whose main goal is to keep the peace, and defend allies from raids, and oppose the warlike ways of the Black Hawks and other raider regions. according to delegate candidate Pallaith, "Recruitment is always talked about in these elections, but I believe we finally have a team in place with vision and ideas to make it happen" The North Pacific as stated can make its army work, and when its army is used, it is used for good, for example, TNP's alliance with The South Pacific, and the constant fight against fascism within The North Pacific,

Recognizing that The North Pacific has an active presence in the General Assembly and Security Council, even having a ministry devoted to such, which provides recommendations to TNPers on how to vote on important resolutions, for example, when the TNPworked tirelessly to liberate The Mystical Council from The Brotherhood of Malice. Delivering a vote so as to convince their WA nations to do the same, it was this effort that allowed The Mystical Council to be liberated from their occupiers, saving the natives of The Mystical Council from total destruction of their region,

Recognizing that The North Pacific has a thriving culture, held up and supported by the ministry of culture, including such awards shows as the Lennarts, which choose the top members of the region to be held up and praised for their contributions. The Lennarts, with over 70 votes, which is just on the poll. The interaction gauged by the Ministry of Culture is immense and is emblematic of the engagement that The North Pacific can achieve,

Recognizing the good that The North Pacific has done for the Nationstates community. The North Pacific has been on the forefront of governance, Take the ministry of Home Affairs, whose job is to increase engagement with the region, founded well before 2014, whereas the South Pacific's version, called the Ministry of Engagement was founded 6 years later. Take in point the countless World Assembly resolutions The North Pacific Has carried, for example [SC-Passed Liberate a Liberal Haven], which only passed due to the overwhelming support of The North Pacific, Take in point the North Pacific Army, dedicated to fighting fascism throughout the whole of Nationstates, and defending other regions from raids,

The security council hereby commends the North Pacific, for its effective governance, its well-oiled democracy, its defense of other regions, its presence in the world assembly, its thriving culture, and its contribution to the Multiverse as a whole

As I said read the rules. Think of it as a learning exercise.

The rest of your draft is bland and cliched and does not make a case for Commending TNP.

I'd recommend doing some more research about TNP's history to come up with a stronger argument why they are commendable. The draft is a bit uninspiring at the moment, and a lot of regions have the things you listed in this proposal.

It is a good start, but as said above, I'd reccomend doing a little more research on TNP, as well as read some previous commend resolutions to get a feel of the format.

Overall, a poor draft. If it is to be done, far more research into TNP’s history will be needed. Also, the clause concerning regional elections is incorrect.

“*sigh* Ambassador, even as a fellow TNP ambassador myself, I have to reject this. While these statements are indeed true, this draft is in desperate need of more clauses. Such draft lacking many pieces of evidence will not do according to SC standards. Second, while you did mention TNP’s presence in the WA, more evidence could be presented to show that TNP has positively impacted a majority of all nations in the multiverse.”

Huh.... A five minute draft that the author seems to think is solid gold? Pretty sure you could change TNP to one of hundred of different regions and still wind up with exactly the same text.

I would love to see commend The North Pacific, but it would have to be absolutely brilliantly written to convince the other GCRs. You can see how they might be envious of one getting commendation while the others don't.

It's a little better but all you did is mostly add more fluff. Also, capitalize the SC, and proofread. There are a TON of errors. Even capitalization ones after sentences. Makes me wonder...

I thought NPO's condemnation was punishment.

I almost forgot about the liberation lol.

Pigeonstan, before you even consider this, you need to have a much more comprehensive understanding of the last 10 years of TNP history and potentially pre-2012 history.

TNP was originally a defender region. For the first decade or so of its life, it was hit by many, many coups— probably more than any other GCR, including Osiris. If I recall correctly, Durk couped it twice in 2012, which might've been what sparked its constitutional reform. They used to treat the delegate as a purely WA position— not head of government — a la TSP, Laz, and Balder. This might've made it easier for players like King HEM, Dalimbar, and Westwind to attempt to coup the region. In the last decade, however, TNP has innovated a new form of security: try to get everyone to endorse everyone as a means of compounding influence. As a result, they haven't been couped in 10 years and likely never will be. If there ever is one, it would be through political manipulation sparking constitutional change rather than through force, but that's also hard in a democracy.

Additionally, players like McMasterdonia and r3n have since turned the region into an efficient machine. McM revived the NPA with Evil Wolf after Westwind dissolved it; r3n created the Ministry of Home Affairs reaching record endorsement percentages and recently pioneered the enormously successful cards programs. The North Pacific's delegate is always the highest endorsed nation. TNP's roleplay and RMB is highly active. The NPA is perhaps the largest GCR military. TNP can easily be credited as an early pioneer of cards. And WALL asserts a political dominance over the World Assembly that's only ever been beaten by highly dedicated and hypercompetent individual authors.

That being said, being an enormous success domestically, TNP is highly competitive and independent world-wide. They're perfectly content to fight with defenders, raiders, meritocrats, other democrats or whoever the current target may be. Their competitiveness and occasional stubbornness (e.g. their stance on NatSov) may lead to others not wanting to commend them.

The best rl analogy to TNP would be the United States. As a heavily industrialized nation secure from foreign interests, it tries to forge its own path internationally. There's a lot of good and a lot of bad there. And when other nominees have suffered from that in the past (Cormac, Tim, Sedge, AMOM, Westwind), the bad tends to win over. Again, I'd love to see Commend TNP happen, but it's going to be hard.

If you're going to commend TNP, then you need to do more research and learn how to write a proposal. Any proposal on this topic has to be strong enough and make its point well. You've got a long way to go.
