Lë 61° Festival dëla Kanžu Kalosianë 2022
The 61st Kalosian Song Festival, 2021

*TO BE UPDATED
1° Seratë | 2° Seratë | 3° Seratë* | 4° Seratë*

Established in 1962, the Kalosian Song Festival (FKK) is an annually run domestic song contest, and the most high profile of its kind in the Republic of Kalosia. The festival, which was inspired by Italy's Festival della Canzone Italiana di Sanremo, is a highly anticipated show every year and reflects the quality of Kalosian music.

Last year, we celebrated 6 decades of the successful running of FKK. This year marks the 61st edition of the event, with a format similar to last year's. With 4 days of festivities and 24 competing artists, the format is as follows:

1° Seratë (1st evening)
The first 12 acts perform their songs. 7 of them will qualify to the final, with voting decided by a combination of jury and televoting, although results are not announced this night.

2° Seratë (2nd evening)
The second 12 acts perform their songs. Again, 7 of them will qualify to the final, with voting decided by a combination of jury and televoting, and results are not announced.

3° Seratë (3rd evening)
This evening is a celebration of Kalosian music. All 24 acts each perform a cover of a Kalosian song, with their choices ranging from 50s classics to modern favourites. The best performance is determined by televoting, and the act presented with an award. Then, the 14 qualifiers are announced.

4° Seratë (4th evening)
The 14 qualifying acts perform their songs one more time. A winner is determined by a combination of jury and televoting.

The Acts

It was announced that Kalosia's representative for the 100th WorldVision Song Contest will be chosen from the pool of competitors in the 2022 edition of this festival. Like last year, each act will be asked if they would like to compete in WorldVision, although WV will not be considered a priority in the context of this festival. The FKK winner will have right of first refusal; should they decline, the runner up will be asked, and so forth.

Below are the 24 songs that will compete in this year's competition:

01
"7:24"

Maurižžio
translation:
tune: Autobus di notte — Rkomi

Pronounced "Setë ventekatru", this song is about the daily grind. The title refers to the time that Maurižžio set his alarm to in his younger years, and is also a play on '24/7' (i.e. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week).

02
"L'amurë ala Romanë"

Lejla Brahimi
translation: Roman-style love
tune: Më duaj — Evi Reci

Lejla won the 2005 edition of the festival, and more recently competed last year. "L'amurë ala Romanë" is musically quite similar to her 2021 entry, although lyrically it talks about wanting to love "in the Roman style".

03
"Ti rëkordaru"

NEON
translation: I will remember you
tune: Tantissimo — Le Vibrazioni

NEON last competed in FKK 2020 and may also be known to international audiences for their WorldVision 48 entry. "Ti rëkordaru" is a love song full of determination, in which the singer promises that he will remember his lover even long after the romance is over.

04
"Dulťisimu"

Bruno Baľarti
translation: Very sweet
tune: Refuzoj — Eldis Arrnjeti

Bruno's latest FKK attempt is a dramatic rock ballad in which he sings about the sweetness of the relationship he has with his lover.

05
"No"

Klaravalë
translation: No
tune: Je remercie mon ex — Camille Lellouche

"No" is an upbeat pop track in which Klaravalë sings confidently about how fed up she has become with a past lover.

06
"Andarë (Pa-ra-ra)"

Luka di Venero
translation: Go
tune: Peter Pan — Antoine Delie

"Andarë" is a song of finding oneself. Luka di Venero sweetly sings about how his life has begun, and his readiness to undergo this journey.

07
"Diámanti"

Anë Paneti
translation: Diamonds
tune: Voglio Amarti — Iva Zanicchi

Anë Paneti is a seasoned artist, having been a regular FKK participant in the 1970s. She came 3rd in the 1975 festival. Tonight, she is back with a dramatic ballad singing about how her lover is worth more than all the diamonds in the world.

08
"Në pošu eser' luj"

$TEFA
translation: I can't be him
tune: I remember — bbno$

Although $TEFA (real name Stefanu Arnoldi) is largely a rapper, he submitted this 80s-style pop song to FKK. It is rather melancholic, admitting to a lover that he can't live up to the high expectations that have been set for him.

09
"Eškonfinatamentë"

Mariella Kasanu & Žankarlu Fra
translation: Boundlessly
tune: Nuestra canción — Monsieur Perine

After last competing in 2020, Mariella Kasanu is back and this time she has brought with her Žankarlu Fraterni (under the stage name Žankarlu Fra). "Eškonfinatamentë" is a cheerful love letter in which they promise that they will love each other boundlessly. after all they have went through together.

10
"Mijel"

Zara X
translation: Honey
tune: Duecentomila ore — Ana Mena

After a successful 4th place last year, Zara X is back! Her song, "Mijel", is a passionate summer track where she sings in praise of her lover, whose words are as sweet as honey.

11
"Sakru"

Fabiú Antonelu
translation: Sacred
tune: Tuo padre, mia madre, Lucia — Giovanni Truppi

"Sakru" is perhaps one of the most sophisticated entries this year. In it, the singer laments about the sanctity of life, singing in a spoken word style that reflects the expressed flurry of thoughts manifesting in his head.

12
"Nia storia"

Silvio Maroni
translation: Our story
tune: Sesso occasionale — Tananai

Closing the first semifinal is Silvio Maroni with the song "Nia storia", in which he sings to his lover about wanting to continue "their story", presumably referring to their relationship.

ICly, after all 12 songs were performed, voting lines were opened and a recap was shown. Afterwards there was a couple of interval acts, including more performances as well as guest appearances. Eventually, lines were closed, and after a few more moments, the first evening came to an end.

Sleep well, because tomorrow we will hear the remaining 12 competing entries in the second evening.

01
"Prometël mi"

Madrugado
translation: Promise me
tune: Comme des enfants — Trois Cafés Gourmands

A nice, lighthearted ditty about holding on to one's promise. Madrugado previously participated in FKK 2020 with "Kazë nia", but did not make it out of the semifinals.

02
"Soñi dël mar"

Paólo Mikelini
translation: Dreams of the sea
tune: Lettera di là dal mare — Massimo Ranieri

Paólo Mikelini is a seasoned champion, having won FKK on two occasions—in 1972 and 1973. He is back 50 years after his first victory, with an emotional ballad honouring those who sailed out from the Kalosian coasts.

03
"MeowMeow"

Eva Renati
translation:
tune: Ciao Ciao — La Rappresentante di Lista

A quirky, catchy pop anthem. In it, Eva Renati encourages us to have fun and dance, learning upon the philosophy of cats. She may be known to international audiences for her participation in the 64th WorldVision Song Contest.

04
"La našenžë d'unë stelë"

Augusto Martes
translation: Birth of a star
tune: Storia del mio corpo — Michele Bravi

FKK 2018 winner Augusto Martes is back, this time with a dramatic ballad centered about a person who finds themselves and goes on to achieve greatness.

05
"Lë volu"

Simonë Florentinu
translation: The flight
tune: E jemja nuse — Rezarta Smaja

An rapid-paced folk tune that makes many references to nature and animals. Sings about an animal taking flight, as a metaphor for achieving freedom.

06
"N'abandonal mi kosi"

Sator
translation: Don't abandon me like this
tune: Me 'nnamoravo de te — Fabrizio Moro

Sator last participated in FKK 2020. This time he's back with a song that is more sociopolitical commentary, and ends the performance with a fiery, motivating speech encouraging Kalosians to rise and rediscover themselves.

07
"Senzë konsegwenžë"

Dëli Homi
translation: Without consequence
tune: Olá solidão — Os Quatro e Meia

Dëli Homi's name translates as "Some humans". The band's song expresses a desire to live a simpler life, one where day-to-day actions do not lead to severe consequences.

08
"Ǧuvan per semprë"

Lorenžu Marteli
translation: Forever young
tune: Apri tutte le porte — Gianni Morandi

And here is our third and last vintage FKK veteran in the running this year. Lorenžu Marteli came 2nd in 1970 with the song "Supra le neve". This song of his is a little more upbeat and cheerful. Lorenžu celebrates life, and declares that he will be forever young as long as he is able to enjoy the joys of living.

09
"Rožë di sangwo"

Lidianë Marino & Luiž Rikardi
translation: Blood rose
tune: Le jardin des larmes — Zaz ft Till Lindemann

Lidianë and Luiž participated last year, and this year they have joined forces to present "Rožë di sangwo", a very melancholic ballad. In it, they sing that not all failing relationships can be saved. The titular 'blood rose' is a metaphor for romantic relationships in which romance is dead, and no longer is there a spark between the two halves, yet they still decide to be together for the sake of anyone but themselves.

10
"Andatu"

Niél sBor
translation: Gone
tune: Dhelpër dinake — Mozzik

Niél sBor (real name Daniél Sebastiánu Bordini) takes inspiration from Danish physicist Niels Bohr, and envisions his contributions to music to be as big of a breakthrough as the scientist did in his lifetime. Here he serves some tropical rap with "Andatu", in which he recalls a summer fling that ended way too soon.

11
"Lë ventu a robatu ti"

Astrid Kalidia
translation: The wind took you away
tune: Miele — Giusy Ferreri

Astrid last competed in FKK in 2020 with "Animë persë". Her song tonight is a little more traditional, and has a bit of a bar vibe to it. She laments the loss of a lover, who was "taken away by the wind".

12
"Venus"

Rafaél Tunisi
translation:
tune: Daphne — Amir

The last act is none other than Rafaél Tunisi, an artist who has yet to become a household name, but is already no stranger to these kinds of festivals. He competed in the World Hit Festival twice, and was in fact present in last year's FKK. His song tonight has been considered to be an upgrade from his last attempt, and compares a crush to the titular Roman goddess.

How to vote

Simply rate each song from 1-10, independently of each other.

The best way to do this is to go through the playlist or watch the recap, and fill in the scores as you go through the songs. You can complete the process in as little as 8 minutes!

It is recommended that the accumulative scores you give add up to a total number larger than 50, but smaller than 200. However action will not be taken if it is not the case with your votes.

The voting deadline is April 4, 23:59 GMT.

UPDATE: Voting is now closed.

Voting has closed in the semifinals. At the end of the second evening, people rejoiced as we have now heard all 24 entries competing in this year's festival. Only 14 of them will advance to the final on Saturday. And of course, only one will come home with the trophy...

But tomorrow, the 24 artists will have a chance to let go of those nerves a little as they get to perform covers of Kalosian classics that will not impact their result... however they will have to put back on those nerves immediately afterwards as the qualifiers will be announced.

This is how it's going to work: 14 qualifiers will be announced, alternating between semifinals. So the first qualifier will be from semifinal 1, the second one from semifinal 2, the third from semifinal 1 again, and so forth. Other than that, these will be announced randomly (i.e. the first qualifier could be any song from semifinal 1, regardless of placing, running order, etc).

Anyway, without further ado, let's go.

The 1st qualifier is...

"Mijel"
Zara X

The 2nd qualifier is...

"Lë volu"
Simonë Florentinu
