Character Country/State of Birth: Paris, France
Character State of Residence: Washington

Main Strengths: Bipartisan, Well Liked, Strong Education Ties
Main Weaknesses: Naive, Idealistic, Opportunistic, Weak on foreign policy, easy to anger
Biography: Julie Margot Patenaude was born in 1962, the fourth child of her French father and American mother. During her whole childhood, she and her family would move back and forth between France and the United States, mostly for her father's work. They settled down for the last time when Julie was fourteen years old, making their permanent residence in Tacoma, Washington. As a student, Julie was attentive, and fancied herself somewhat special for enjoying learning. Politically, her family was devoutly Democratic, at least in the United States, though in her youth Julie toyed with many ideologies which she did not fully grasp (she tells nobody of her three-hour long Fascist phase).

Julie attended Mills College in California for a degree in Education with a minor in History, and given the combination, unsurprisingly became a high school history teacher. She was known among her students for being easygoing and a soft grader, but after a number of years in the position, she found it not to be as great as her previous passions may have suggested. Instead, she resigned from her position and ran for the Tacoma City Council, mostly on a whim. She had never previously held much of a desire to enter politics, but she had done it, essentially just because it was there and she could. Given the partisan demographics of Tacoma, and a weak showing of Democratic challengers for the position, she had the job relatively easily.

In 1992, Julie met her future husband, Perry Littenbaum, and the two married just five months after. To do this, Julie had to convert from Roman Catholicism and join his church, the United Church of Christ. Never particularly devout, she did so enthusiastically, having found a rebirth of religious zeal after converting becoming more dedicated to her faith than ever before. She took her husband's last name, and the couple would go on to have three children, Marie (16), Jeremiah (13), and Roy (11).

In 1993, with the incumbent Mayor not running for re-election, Julie scmoozed among the other members of the City Council as well as the City's Democratic Party and won the nomination essentially unopposed, and then the election, though the Republicans put up more of a fight than was expected. As Mayor, she sought to revitalize the struggling industrial port city, presiding over the opening of the University of Washington Tacoma, establishing modern rail networks, and improving the city waterfront. In 1996, she would make a bid for a House seat, and despite the absolute slaughter nationwide, the district's Democratic leans did not fail her, even if the margins were concerning. Even so, over her four elections to the House, she gained more and more of the vote each time, partially out of increased popularity and partially because less Republicans bothered to vote against the person so likely to win. In the House, she was usually a supporter of the (not-Clinton) administration, supporting its actions in Yugoslavia and those at home (so long as they weren't too third way), but she had a difficult relationship with him during the (not-Lewinsky) scandal. Initially, she strongly criticized both the President's perjury and infidelity, and even called on him to resign, before walking back her statements and saying instead that Clinton had a "lapse of judgement" which did not affect his Presidency or the American people anyway. This move was mostly out of political convenience, once the Democratic anger towards (not-Clinton) turned out to be nonexistent, and eventually she got over her internal feelings towards it, but the moralist in her wouldn't let it fully go. During the Cush administration, she voted first in support of the War in Afghanistan, then against the War in Iraq.

In 2004, Julie initially supported (not-John Edwards) for President, followed by (not-Howard Dean), before finally lending her support to (not-Kerry). Simultaneously, she ran for Senate following the incumbent's resignation for health issues, and defeated Republican (not-George Nethercutt). As a Senator, Julie has established herself as a somewhat quirky Democrat, moving leftwards on the whole but rightwards on issues like gay marriage and national security (perhaps being the only person to become more supportive of the Iraq War over time), but is still no conservative and finds herself at most in the center even on those issues. She is considering the idea of a Presidential run this year

Alright, is anyone up to give Woolworth a prime-time interview to comment about the situation? That'd be great.

NS Nation Name: Dentali
Character Name: Elliot James Cragie
Character Gender: M

Character Weight: 210 lbs
Character Position/Role/Job: Congressman Georgia 2nd since 1996, Democratic Caucus Chairman
Character Country/State of Birth: Georgia
Character State of Residence: Georgia
Character Party Affiliation: D
Faceclaim: Rob Portman
Main Strengths: Blue Collar Background, intimate knowledge of Congress, reliable reputation, Culturally conservative, strong ties to the African American community
Main Weaknesses: Lacks ideological pinning, lacks money, increasingly red state, Culturally conservative
Biography: (Minimum 2-3 paragraphs)

Elliot James Cragie was born in 1947 in a small West Georgian town in the postwar baby boom. His father, a WW2 veteran, now worked at US Steel, while his mother was a homemaker and town seamstress. He was the second oldest of 5 children and spent his youth alongside his brother getting up before dawn to start one of their many jobs around the town, delivering papers, milking cows, running errands, anything to make a buck. He was no genius but worked incredibly hard in school, pulling all-nighters and earning good marks again and again. This combined with his exceptional work ethic and a Basketball Scholarship allowed him to be the first in his family to attend college, and in 1965 he began studying pre-law at Georgia Southwestern College.
During his third year studying pre-law he would be drafted into the military and would serve at Ft. Bragg in North Carolina in a non-combat role until 1970. His service was uneventful but he kept up his strong work ethic and impressed many of his superiors and peers. During this time he would also meet Abigail Penrose who lived in a town just outside the Fort, they would marry in 1970 just one week after his tour ended. In 1970 after his time in the military ended Elliot returned to Georgia Southwestern College, and graduated in the top 15% of his class.

From there he attended Mercer University from 1972 to 1975, working nights at a local diner to pay room and board. Between Ft. Bragg and Mercer University, Elliot had a great deal of exposure to African Americans and the civil rights movement and became interested in politics. After graduating in 1975 he served for 2 years as Staff Counsel for Senator Sam Nunn, a Moderate Democrat for Georgia. In 1976 Elliot and Abigail welcomed their first child, Rose.

Once again impressing with his ability, drive, work ethic, and ability to make positive impressions he was made an assistant US Attorney in Western Georgia in 1977. After serving and developing a reputation for toughness and fairness he ran as a Democrat for the open Georgia 2nd Congressional seat and lost a surprising close primary.

With his children growing up and his mother ill he decided it was time to focus on securing his family's future and he took a position at a private law firm. Between 1980 and 1992 he once again became known for his firm but fair conduct, as well as a tireless work ethic and was finally able to provide his family a comfortable life, and made many ties with poor African Americans in the region who he often would represent pro bono. All the while however he remained heavily involved in Georgia politics, advising, financing and supporting local democrats who supported civil rights and in 1991 was an early supporter of Clifford.

In 1993 with a Democratic President finally in the White House, he was appointed the US District Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia by a unanimous voice vote. In 1994 he would prosecute the case against former KKK members who had bombed a church in the early 70s. A high profile trial in front of a Grand Jury, Elliot Cragie got a life sentence for multiple members of the KKK. His strong reputation and newfound fame prompted local democrats to draft him to run in the Georgia 2nd after the incumbent Democrat was forced out. Buoyed by record African American turnout in his district Elliot was elected in 1992.

He established himself as a Moderate “New Democrat” and Clifford loyalist, he joined the house negotiations team on the deal with Republicans on the budget surplus in 1997. In ‘98 he was able to force a Congressional coalition to pressure Clifford into brokering the Good Friday Agreement, and in 1999 he proudly voted against repealing Glass Steagall.

During the Cush Administration he turned into a party warrior, albeit a more moderate one, fighting the tax Cuts of the Cush administration tooth and nail and successfully convincing a number of colleagues to do the same. In 2002 he did vote in favor of the Iraq war, swayed in large part by Senator Clifford on the matter, and was the leading House member on the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of ‘02.

In the 2004 Presidential election he joined those pressuring Senator Clifford to run for President, but after he was rebuffed he endorsed (Not-Edwards) later helping heal the party after a contentious primary and giving a well received speech at the convention about improving education for the working class. That same year he spoke out against the Constitutional Amendement that would ban same sex marriage though stopped short of coming out in favor himself. And in 2004 his son Robert was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives.

In 2005 he was instrumental in instituting the “Six for 06 Agenda”, specifically convincing Democrats in the South to get on board with the proposals, though some of his pet projects such as the federalization of Iraq fell by the wayside. After the wins in ‘06 and his demonstrated ability to convince his fellow Congressman to see things his way, he was made the House Majority Whip.

Elliot Cragie has proven time and again to be an egoless man, an incredibly hard and respected worker, and someone who truly had his finger on the pulse of Congress. He knew each member and their needs, he knew the districts almost as good as they did, and he knew how to make bills seem like they were in the best interest of individual members. He has also maintained strong personal relationships across the aisle, and socially finds himself closer to many culturally conservative members of Congress rather than those he aligns with more ideologically, often privately disdaining “Coastal Elitism” though he’d never say so in public.

Other Info: established liberal stances on health care, organized labor and environmental conservation issues, based on his legislative actions as well as evaluations and ratings by pertinent interest groups

Despite his opposition to partial-birth abortion, Cragieis regarded as pro-abortion rights, as shown by his high ratings from Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America and low rating from the National Right to Life Committee

Cragie has opposed legislation to increase offshore drilling for oil or natural gas. Instead, he has promoted use of nuclear energy as an cheaper alternative to fossil fuels than wind and solar energy.

Character Weight: 149 lb
Character Position/Role/Job: Senator from Hawaii (1990-present), Representative of Hawaii's 2nd District (1975-1990)
Character Country/State of Birth: Hawaii
Character State of Residence: Hawaii
Character Party Affiliation: Democratic
Faceclaim: Daniel Akaka
Main Strengths: Strong local ties, good at compromising with Republicans, war hero, seen as experienced and wise.
Main Weaknesses: His advanced age has led to increasing health problems, and an increasing amount of voters in Hawaii are getting tired of his face, and want someone young and fresh in his place. He can also be quite stubborn when it comes to personal matters.
Biography:

Daniel Paha'aina Kaheo'ole was born on November 9, 1934, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to parents George and Mary. He was descended from the ancient Qing Dynasty through his mother, while his father was of Native Hawaiian ancestry. He had one older brother, Brian, who would later enter work as a teacher at the University of Hawaii. During his schooling, Daniel was among the more popular kids, and graduated with high honors in 1952. In 1956, Daniel married his first wife, Alice, however tragedy struck as during their honeymoon a car crash killed Alice and his brother Brian, and left Daniel severely injured. Although he recovered, he became depressed for a long period of time. He later met his second wife, Betty, in 1960, and they married in 1962.

Daniel worked as a middle school teacher from 1955 to 1965, when he became vice principal. He later became head principal in 1967. Daniel was considered a strict teacher and principal by many of his students, but his colleagues described him as a nice and affectionate person. In 1970, Daniel was drafted into the Vietnam War, where he served for one year. Daniel was wounded twice in separate battles and would later be awarded two purple hearts. The experience led to him learning of the horrors of war and is why is mostly against foreign wars.

Following his war experience, Daniel decided to enter politics. Running off of his war record and local business as a school principal, he was elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1974, representing Hawaii's 2nd District. He would be reelected 8 times, serving until 1990.

In 1990, the sudden death of Senator Yamashita led to the Governor of Hawaii to appoint Daniel to fill his seat. That same year, he was elected to finish the 4 years of Yamashita's term that were left. In 1994, he was reelected with almost 80% of the vote, and with similar margins in 2000. In the recent 2006 election, Daniel was expected to win by similar margins as in 2000, due to his popularity and Hawaii's strong Democratic status. However, when the final results came in, Daniel won with only 56% of the vote against his Republican challenger.

During his tenure in the Senate, he served as Chair of the United States Senate Committee on Indian Affairs. Following 9/11, Akaka voted for the War in Afghanistan, but strongly opposed the Iraq War. In the 2004 election, he initially supported (not-Howard Dean), then (not-John Kerry). He is a strong supporter of women's right to choose, and secretly in favor of gay marriage, however as this is a bold stance to take in this day and age he only supports civil unions publicly.

There is considerable debate on whether Daniel will run for reelection in 2012, due to his advanced age. Some even questioned if he would run for President, however Daniel confirmed he was not interested in the Presidency in January 2007.

Hey, welcome to TLG! The app looks pretty good, there are just a few notes I have.

1. The draft age does not extend to 36-year-olds, so he'd be too old to be drafted into Vietnam. I believe the oldest you can be to enlist is 37. You could age him down, or you could age him up one or two years and he could be drafted into the Korean war from 1950-1953.
2. There is a rule about not using face claims from the same state as your characters, unfortunately, but there are plenty of AAPI politicians, and even some non-US politicians could work.
3. If you do still want him to be a veteran, could you expand a little more on his military service?
4. And finally, there is a precedent against allowing players new to the RP to be senators right away. If you would like, you could provide a few examples of your roleplaying background (preferably in P2TM), or you could just have this person start out as a representative in the House and create a Senator later.

Alright, thanks for the feedback. Hopefully I've fixed up everything here

Biography:

Abigail Volker (née Kaiser) was born on November 21st, 1962 in La Grange, Kentucky as the eldest child of three of a professor of History at the University of Louisville and his housewife. Growing up, Abigail enjoyed a moderately comfortable upbringing, albeit one that saw her develop something of a lonely personality due to a lack of attention from her father, who the young Kentuckian eagerly sought the affection of. In order to compensate for this, Abigail developed a strong affinity, which would later culminate in a broader interest for writing and also, journalism.

The tranquil life of Abigail’s early youth saw a sudden and unfortunate deterioration in 1975 however, with the tragic death of her father in a hunting accident. Following this, the now-widowed Mrs Kaiser and her two children moved west for the small community of Leopold, Missouri, where the widow had familial relations. Although the family was able to continue to enjoy a somewhat comfortable existence, her father’s untimely demise caused Abigail’s solitary nature to embed itself further as a means of coping with the grief, as well as finding herself uprooted from the area she had called home for the entirety of her life until that point.

Despite such emotional hardships though, Abigail Kaiser successfully continued to uphold her strong academic performance, which was aided by her internalisation of the grief towards her father’s death. It was also during this period of time that the young Miss Kaiser developed her sense of political identity, with her joining the Republican Party in 1977 on account of the strongly conservative upbringing which she has experienced. For the time being, she would not hold onto these nascent feelings with much energy however. Perhaps the most significant consequence of her High School years however was meeting Thomas Volker, a native of Leopold via a few mutual friends. Eventually this culminated in the two of them developing a rather close personal relationship that would continue to develop further in college. Upon graduating High School and aided by the fact that she had been the most academically rigorous of her family, she was able to rely on the support of them in pursuing a college education.

Although Abigail’s thorough interest in reading and analysis had led to an ambition for a journalistic career, she elected to study Classics with a minor in Political Science at Washington University in St Louis, partially as a result of Thomas Volker being there. Her studies at Washington University saw Abigail continue to perform well whilst also allowing her to eventually find her calling in the form of print journalism via her writing as a columnist for Student Life, the University’s newspaper. For the most part, the Kentuckian‘s columns focussed on the changing political landscape that the Reagan Revolution had brought with it.

Furthermore, Miss Kaiser also sent numerous pieces of copy of college events to the numerous local newspapers within the region, hoping that it would benefit her after graduation. Similarly, Abigail’s studies at Washington University saw the young student finally solidify her political identity via her active campaigning with the College Republicans during the 1984 election campaign. It was during her campaigning that Abigail’s relationship developed further with Thomas Volker, culminating in the two marrying in the summer of 1985, the year before both would conclude their undergraduate studies before entering graduate school, with Abigail electing to pursue a Masters degree in Classics.

During her graduate studies, the now Mrs Volker continued to uphold the high academic standards which had been a hallmark of hers since childhood, frequently being noted as one of the highest performing students in her cohort.
Moreover, utilising the connections she had established in her undergraduate years, Abigail was employed as a columnist at the St Louis Globe-Democrat, a relatively small conservative newspaper in the city which counted amongst its former employees (Not-Pat Buchanan). Although the small scale and readership of the paper often made the work rather mundane, Abigail actively threw herself into it wherever possible, and used her column as a way of articulating an intellectual vision of conservatism which continued the legacy of the ‘Old Right’. Despite this, her tenure would at the Globe-Democrat would not last long, as the paper would cease operations in late October 1986, and after a short period, she soon found work as a columnist for the Southeast Missourian, where she would stay following her graduating in the following year.

Although Abigail, as always, proved energetic and dutiful in her work at the paper, it was also during this time where she felt the most alone, as her few friendships from college and high school began to slip away and Thomas’ own ambitions began to leave him with little free time. Thus, she began to invest even more time in her work despite if at times the writing was rather repetitive. However, opportunity struck within her first year to report on some wider political coverage with the announcement of her husband's campaign for the 145th District of the State House. It was then when Abigail’s work on providing a unique insight into the Volker campaign and its ideological vision through her columns saw her own reputation in the region and Missouri as a whole begin to advance to a moderate extent. This bump in her public image would only grow after her husband's election to the House of Representatives in 1994 when she would receive an offer to work for a relatively new national newspaper, the Washington Times.

Mrs. Volker's work at the Washington Times saw her climb at a steady yet quick pace through the ranks, writing columns covering events within Congress, a matter and set of content particularly helped by the political links and connections made through her husband. Her rapid rise was in addition aided by the votes on legislation for the 'Contract with America' that the Republicans had used during the 1994 campaign. Furthermore, the Republican primaries in 1996 saw Mrs. Volker being selected as a delegate for the (Not-Pat Buchanan) campaign as a result of her prominence in the south east of the state as well as Thomas’ own cordial relationship with the candidate, and after the latter’s success in Missouri, she would ultimately go on to attend the 1996 Republican National Convention and cast a vote for (Not-Pat Buchanan) in his unsuccessful campaign. This steady rise in name recognition amongst the conservative movement ultimately culminated in Abigail providing written coverage on the Clifford impeachment trial, a matter which did raise her name recognition to a greater yet still rather limited extent whilst also endearing her further amongst D.C.'s conservatives.

Come the War on Terror, Mrs Volker continued to write columns that supported the actions undertaken by the Cush Administration in the wake of 9/11, with Abigail writing a column in support of the Patriot Act as a temporary measure, and which was widely cited by conservative pundits. In spite of this support though, Mrs Volker actively pressed against the growing calls amongst neoconservatives for ‘nation-building’ in the grounds that it proved “contrary to the republican nature of the United States and the vision of the Founding Fathers” whilst also stressing Cush’s relatively non-interventionist foreign policy platform as a candidate.

As 2002 passed by, and the likelihood of the Cush Administration invading Iraq grew, Mrs Volker was offered a position as Associate Editor at the American Conservative, a paleoconservative publication that sought to oppose the growing interventionist trend in the Cush Administration, and which she accepted. Although she opposed the invasion, Abigail provided relatively muted criticism as it took place in order to avoid undermining the efforts of American troops in the region. Instead, her editorials emphasised the need for swift actions that would allow the US to withdraw as early as possible having successfully attained its objectives and with a minimum loss of American casualties.

For the course of her tenure, Abigail Volker proved to be effective in articulating the vision of the publication and consequently, Mrs Volker, as with her husband before her, became something of an icon amongst the relatively small paleoconservative movement. Amongst her subordinates at the magazine, she was also noted to be a spirited, if rather autocratic, editor who emphasised the quality of writing and argument in articles. However, the beginning of 2005 saw opportunity present itself in the form of MSNBC’s Hardball debate programme. Although Abigail was somewhat cautious of this new opportunity, particularly because her career at that point has been in print journalism alone, she decided to leave the American Conservative in favour of newer, and perhaps more wide reaching, pastures.

The past two years have seen Abigail Volker remain as a commentator at MSNBC, where she has been seen as something of a political pugilist, as well as an individual who was willing at times to buck the consensus of her party, as became apparent following the growth in the Iraqi insurgency. And now, as the 2008 election, as well as the process of selecting the next nominee of the Republican Party, drew nearer, only time will tell whether Mrs Volker will once again see an opportunity for both her own advancement, and that of the conservative movement.
Other Info:

Character Application and Information Sheet

NS Nation Name: Sutalia
Character Name: Leon Havek
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 58
Character Height: 5'10"
Character Weight: 154lbs
Character Position/Job: Professor at Miskatonic Community College (1977-1984), Political Analyst & Author (1984-1994), Representative for New York's 23rd Congressional District (1994-Present)
Character Country/State of Birth: United States/New York
Character State of Residence: New York
Character Party Affiliation: Republican
Faceclaim: David Boaz
Main Strengths: Well-educated, Strong Support from Non-Interventionists, Fiscally Responsible
Main Weaknesses: Unsympathetic, Elitist, Isolationist

Biography: Havek, a third-generation immigrant whose family originated from Austria, was the quiet, humble son of an ordinary shopkeeper in upstate New York. By contrast, his siblings were loud and overtly ambitious. The young Leon assisted his parents in running the business and watched as it blossomed into the regional brand known as Havek's General Goods. The modest success that his family enjoyed demonstrated to him that the American Dream was still alive, and that it took great perseverance to achieve. With that lesson in mind, he distanced himself from the brand and decided to carve out his own path in life, choosing to advance his education at the University of Chicago. It was there that he became a devoted disciple to free-market economics, thanks to the teachings of one Milton Friedman.

Upon graduating, Havek became an associate professor at Miskatonic Community College, specializing in political science and civics. He was generally respected, though not without controversy from time to time. Havek eventually met his wife, an upcoming archaeologist from Barnett College, during one of her special presentations at Miskatonic. The couple got married before long, and soon after Havek was promoted to serve as a full-time political science professor. He became a consultant to Reagan's reelection campaign in 1983, and later stepped down from his teaching career in order to advocate for limited government in his home state of New York. In this effort he took on the role of a full-time analyst for the Republican Party. Through an exchange of letters with prominent libertarian intellectuals, Havek slowly adopted more radical anti-government views, distancing himself from religious conservatives and Republican moderates alike.

Havek boosted his popularity in right-wing circles by publishing The Ageless Doctrine, a book examining the shifting cultural landscape of the late 1970s and 1980s. It received modest reviews but was praised by the major figures of the Reagan Revolution. With all of this newfound acclaim, combined with a major corruption scandal in his home district from the incumbent representative, Havek decided to run for office. He comfortably won the Republican primary but only managed a razor-thin victory in the general election. He saw this as a triumph, one of many that emerged from the Republican Revolution of '94. In the House of Representatives, he gained a reputation for being a fiscal hawk. On social matters, he chose the path of moderation. Havek is still a lesser known figure in national politics, but his fringe views are quickly winning over a niche audience.

Other Info: Havek has written a handful of other books, but none were as notorious as The Ageless Doctrine. He stands out somewhat for having protested the Vietnam War and other military operations abroad.

Madrinpoor wrote:Hey, welcome to TLG!

NS Nation Name: Reorganized Portugal
Character Name: Daniel P. Kaheo'ole
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 71
Character Height: 5'8"
Character Weight: 149 lb
Character Position/Role/Job: Representative of Hawaii's 2nd District (1990-present), Representative in the Hawaii House of Representatives of the 32nd District (1975-1990)
Character Country/State of Birth: Hawaii
Character State of Residence: Hawaii
Character Party Affiliation: Democratic
Faceclaim: Norman Y. Mineta
Biography:

Daniel Paha'aina Kaheo'ole was born on November 9, 1936, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to parents George and Mary. He was descended from the ancient Qing Dynasty through his mother, while his father was of Native Hawaiian ancestry. He had one older brother, Brian, who would later enter work as a teacher at the University of Hawaii. During his schooling, Daniel was among the more popular kids, and graduated with high honors in 1954.

Daniel was considered a strict teacher and principal by many of his students, but his colleagues described him as a kind and affectionate person. In 1970, Daniel was drafted into the Vietnam War, where he served for one year. Daniel was wounded twice in separate battles and would later be awarded two purple hearts and the rank of Corporal. He was stationed at the Gulf of Tonkin. He survived a helicopter crash in June of 1971, toward the end of his service period, which killed seven others. He would The experience led to him learning of the horrors of war and is why is mostly against foreign wars.

Following his war experience, Daniel decided to enter politics. Running off of his war record and local business as a school principal, he was elected to the Hawaii House of Representatives in 1974. He served in that office until 1990, when he was elected to the United States House of Representatives. In 1992, he was reelected with almost 80% of the vote, and with similar margins in 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, and 2004. In the recent 2006 election, Daniel was expected to win by similar margins as his last 8 elections, due to his popularity and Hawaii's strong Democratic status. However, when the final results came in, Daniel won with only 56% of the vote against his Republican challenger.

During his tenure in the House, Daniel voted for the War in Afghanistan, but strongly opposed the Iraq War. In the 2004 election, he initially supported (not-Howard Dean), then (not-John Kerry). He is a strong supporter of women's right to choose, and secretly in favor of gay marriage, however as this is a bold stance to take in this day and age he only supports civil unions publicly.

Daniel has confirmed his candidacy for reelection to the House for a potential 9th term in 2008. Some have questioned if he would run for President, however Daniel confirmed he was not interested in the Presidency in January 2007.

I think it looks great, the only nitpick I have left is that the draft age is only extended to 26. He could enlist in Vietnam though.

Bachelor's Student in Business-University of Montana (1974-1978)

Character Country/State of Birth: Montana
Character State of Residence: Washington D.C.
Character Party Affiliation: GOP (1995-Present)
Independent (1976-1993)
Main Strengths:
-Experienced Lawmaker: Earl has learned the ways of Washington quite well by now, working his way up the ladder of the House Republican Conference

-Foreign policy expertise: Through both his time in the Marine Corps and in Washington Earl has extensively studied how to deal with America's enemies, especially from nations such as Iran and North Korea. Few are as well equipped in the GOP Conference to talk foreign issues as Earl.

-Charismatic: In part thanks to his days as an officer in the Marines, Earl has quite a nack for public speaking. He can easily deliver off the cuff speeches and has no issues debating his opponents when needed.

-Conservative celebrity: Earl is quite popular amongst rank and file Republicans due to his documented Conservative past as well as his loyalty to President Cush the past eight years.

Main Weaknesses:
-Silver Spoon Background: There is no denying Earl was raised with a silver spoon in his mouth. Born into Tenson Oil, at no point was Earl ever at risk of not being able to afford a home payment or be on the streets. As well, being born into an oil company specifically comes at the cost of making him an easy target for environmental activists.

-Brashness-Earl has a bit of a history of saying things that get himself in trouble. He also tends to have quite a potty mouth in private and will not hesitate to cuss out any Republicans he is becoming frustrated with in private.

Overweight-Unfortunately, Earl has not kept up with his fitness following his exit from the military, needless to say, this has made him a bit chunky.

-Iraq Junky: Earl has been an ardent supporter of the Iraq War since it started and supports a troop surge to deal with the Al-Qaeda insurgency, needless to say this is an unpopular position amongst the American public.

Biography: Earl Tenson was born just outside Baker Montana in 1956. His father, Joshua Tenson, was the CEO of Tenson Oil and his mother a stay-at-home parent. As his parent's only child, it was expected from early on that Earl would take over his father's business one day. He scored decent marks in school but found himself disinterested in the idea of serving his father's business. Earl attended the University of Montana at Missoula where he received a Bachelor's in Business. He made an agreement with his father that he would take over the business after serving in the military, attending Marine Corps Officer Candidates School in Quantico, Virginia in 1978 and commissioning as a Second Lieutenant (O-1) and an infantry platoon leader in the 2nd Marine Division. It was around this time he met his future wife Clara, who he would marry in 1983 and give birth to his son Earl Jr. in 1985.

In 1983 then First Lieutenant Tenson found himself going to war during Operation Urgent Fury. He led a platoon of Marines in helicopter landings on August 25th at Pearls Airport, but the Marines faced minimal resistance other than a few mounted machine gun emplacements. The island capitulated in three days and the war was over. Earl returned home to marry his wife in the fall of that year.

Earl also participated in the 1989 invasion of Panama. Now Captain Tenson lead Marines during the battle of Panama City and saw heavy fighting against the forces of Manuel Noriega. He commanded an entire Company of Marines through the battle and was awarded a Silver Star for his leadership.

He was promoted to a Major and was deputy commander to a battalion during Desert Storm in 1991. However, at this point he was out of the fighting and spent most of his day looking at maps and on phone calls with Company and Platoon leaders to keep the Lieutenant Colonel updated. Earl was not fond of this life pushing pencils behind a desk and decided to leave the military and finally fulfill his promise to his father, who passed away in October of 1992. He served as CEO of Tenson Oil for three years until he decided to run for office. He saw President not-Clinton as a "left liberal" who posed a threat to America's standing worldwide as well as his family oil business. He ran for Congress in 1996 and successfully unseated the incumbent Democrat to become Representative for Montana's At-Large Congressional District.

Representative Tenson was a standard Conservative in office, generally supporting Speaker (Not-Grinich) and opposing any liberal policies of not-Clinton. In 2000 he ardently supported and stumped for then-Governor Cush nationwide as he saw (Not-Gore) as a disaster waiting to happen for America's energy and his business. He was grateful when Cush came out on top during the Florida recount. After the 2000 elections Earl was placed onto the Armed Services committee which he later became chair of.

Earl was one of President Cush's closest allies during the war on terror, fully supporting the AUMF for both Afghanistan and Iraq. He applauded President Cush's "Axis of Evil" speech, with Earl secretly being in support of military operations against Iran.

In 2004 he considered a run for Governor but decided against it as he wanted to be able to assist the President further in fighting terrorism overseas. He was later vindicated in his decision as (Not-Schweitzer) was elected easily.

Earl was greatly disappointed in the results of the 2006 midterms, however the chaos that engulfed congressional Republicans afterwards allowed him to find himself promoted to Whip. Tenson leans towards Governor Calalo for President.

Just a quick note, 'pariah' means an outcast, and I'm not sure how that makes sense in the context of the strength. The rest seems good, but what I'd ask is what bills he's authored and if he's taken any votes of note.

Main Strengths: Notable competency for organisation, strong journalistic record, popular commentator amongst Paleoconservatives and the Christian Right
Main Weaknesses: Weak standing amongst moderate Republicans, accused of using her husband’s name for career advancement, accusations of being zealous and opportunistic in fulfilling her ambitions, chronic and potentially harmful dishonesty, perceived as an autocratic in terms of both administration and decision-making
Biography:

Abigail Volker (née Kaiser) was born on July 11th, 1963 in La Grange, Kentucky as the youngest child of two of a professor of History at the University of Louisville and his housewife.

Other Info:

Abigail has been married to her husband, Thomas Volker for 22 years, having with him a total of 5 children: Thomas Jr (Born September 1989), Sarah (Born April 1991), William & John (Born January 1993), and Madeleine (Born November 1999); she is also a devout Lutheran and has previously taught Sunday school back in Missouri prior to Thomas’ election to the House. As a result of her university education, Abigail is trilingual in English, Ancient Greek, and Latin. Besides politics and journalism, Abigail is an avid amateur equestrian, a hobby she has had since her childhood in Kentucky

The Protecting Employee's Rights (PER) Act of 2007

A BILL
To remove a lot of unfair barriers unions have to face and make it easier for them to represent their employees.

Sponsor: Julie Littenbaum (D-WA)
Senate Sponsors:
House Sponsors: John Amos Mattox III (D-MA-7), Daniel Kaheo'ole (D-HI-2), Frank Taylor (D-CA-17)

A summary of the bill:

-Requires that when a majority of employees has signed authorizations designating the union as its bargaining representative, the union will be certified by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) should the signatures be valid.

-The employer and union must reach a collective agreement within 90 days, either party can request mediation by the FMCS. If no agreement has been reached after 30 days of meditation, the dispute is referred to binding arbitration. The results of the arbitration shall be binding on the parties for two years. All time limits can be extended by mutual agreement.

-Makes it an unfair labor practice to require or coerce employees to attend employer meetings designed to discourage union membership.

-Prohibits employers from taking adverse actions against an employee, including employees with management responsibilities, in response to that employee participating in protected activities related to the enforcement of the prohibitions against unfair labor practices.

-Permits employees to vote off their employers’ premises, in a neutral, non-coercive environment of their choosing.

-Expands unfair labor practices to include prohibitions against replacement of, or discrimination against, workers who participate in strikes.

-Allows the National Labor Relations Board to fine employers up to $50,000 for every violation of labor law. Allows the NLRB to fine employers up to $100,000 in the case of repeat offenses by an employer. It would bring monetary compensation to employees involved in such cases. Expands the available remedies for employees subject to such harms to include two times the amount of actual damages (e.g., back pay), consequential damages, and punitive damages.

-Permits a labor organization to encourage the participation of union members in strikes initiated by employees represented by a different labor organization (secondary strikes) and prohibits the employers to bring claims against unions that conduct such secondary strikes.

-Prevents employers from interfering in representation cases

-Permits the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to conduct economic analysis.

-Allows collective-bargaining agreements to require all employees represented by the bargaining unit to contribute fees to the labor organization for the cost of such representation, notwithstanding a state law to the contrary.

-Prohibits employers from entering into agreements with employees under which employees waive the right to pursue or join collective or class-action litigation.

-Requires the NLRB to seek a federal court injunction when there is reasonable cause to believe a company has discharged or discriminated against employees, threatened to do so, or engaged in conduct that significantly interferes with employee rights during an organizing campaign or contract negotiations.

-Requires the NLRB to promulgate rules requiring employers to post notices of employees' labor rights and protections and establishes penalties for failing to comply with such requirement.

-Requires the NLRB to immediately seek an injunction to reinstate the employee who suffered retaliation while their case is pending. It also gives the NLRB the power to enforce its own rulings, like other federal agencies, instead of waiting for a decision from the Court of Appeals.

-Allows workers to seek justice in court when employers unlawfully interfere with their rights or retaliate against them for exercising their rights, if the NLRB’s General Counsel fails to prosecute their case.

Does anyone wanna co-sign?

-Requires the NLRB to seek a federal court injunction when there is reasonable cause to believe a company has discharged or discriminated against employees, threatened to do so, or engaged in conduct that significantly interferes with employee rights during an organizing campaign or contract negotiations.

-Requires the NLRB to promulgate rules requiring employers to post notices of employees' labor rights and protections and establishes penalties for failing to comply with such requirements.

Congressman Mattox will sponsor this in the House, if that's alright.

The Protecting Employee's Rights (PER) Act of 2009

A BILL
To remove a lot of unfair barriers unions have to face and make it easier for them to represent their employees.

Sponsor: Julie Littenbaum (D-WA)
Senate Sponsors:
House Sponsors:

A summary of the bill:

-Requires that when a majority of employees has signed authorizations designating the union as its bargaining representative, the union will be certified by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) should the signatures be valid.

-The employer and union must reach a collective agreement within 90 days, either party can request mediation by the FMCS. If no agreement has been reached after 30 days of meditation, the dispute is referred to binding arbitration. The results of the arbitration shall be binding on the parties for two years. All-time limits can be extended by mutual agreement.
