Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
Name: Adler Rhein
Aliases: The Cleric, Arden Caleb (cover name)
Gender: Male
Age: 32
Appearance:

Motivations
Goals:
• Escape his sordid past as the personal assassin of a powerful crime lord
• Hunt down the last Clerics
• Become more human
• Protect Clara
Fears:
• Losing Clara
• Hospitals/extremely sterile places

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Surgical genetic modifications and enhancements through experimentation
Powers :
• Superhuman Processing—Adler can process incoming information at a far faster and more sophisticated rate than regular humans can, and therefore can formulate solutions or reactions to situations rapidly as well. In basic analogical terms—Adler perceives everything in slow motion, while still thinking at regular speeds.
• Superhuman Memory—A byproduct of his Superhuman Processing, once Adler processes information, he can remember and easily recall it in high detail.
• Superhuman Awareness—A byproduct of his Superhuman Processing, Adler is highly aware of his surroundings. Every detail: from the softest sounds to the smallest shift in the wind, is detected by him.
Abilities:
• Gun Kata—Though Adler is adept in a great many martial arts, his primary form of combat is the martial art of Gun Kata. Primarily using firearms, the discipline believes that "the position of any person in a firefight is statistically predictable". Users of the art learn how to predict the position of any enemy as well as from which directions incoming projectiles would come in the surrounding area via mathematical probability and measurement, based on the likely positions enemy shooters would take and the trajectory of incoming enemy fire. In this way, practitioners of Gun Kata may adjust their postures (postures learnt via various different forms in training) in a way that allows them to dodge most incoming fire and simultaneously return fire accurately without even needing to aim. The art requires quick reflexes, reaction time and high awareness of one's surroundings—traits that complement Adler's own superhuman traits extremely well. (Basically, he can dodge bullets and shoot people without even needing to aim really fast). As a byproduct of mastering this art, Adler is very good at math.
Watch this if you're still confused. If you are, I'd like to apologise in advance.
And another and another
• Enhanced Reflexes/Peak Human Condition—In order to keep up with his brain's superhuman processing, Adler must maintain a state of great physical and mental fitness and finesse in order for his body and its reflexes to keep up with his brain's subconscious commands and reactions.
• Firearms Expert—During his long years as an assassin, Adler has mastered the use of most firearms in existence.
• Expert Marksman
• Martial Arts/CQC Expert
• Infiltration Skills—Adler can easily and masterfully infiltrate even the most highly secured locations with little trouble. Scaling walls, hiding in rafters or even in plain sight, he can practically turn invisible. As a side byproduct of this, Adler is a surprisingly good actor and would probably make for a smashing stage performer if not for his rather lacking social skills.
• Master Picklock
• Fluently Multilingual—As part of his infiltration training, Adler has spent the decades learning and mastering various languages, aided significantly by his brain's superhuman processing, to the point of being able to speak them fluently like a native.
Equipment:
• Modified FN Five-sevens—A pair of FN Five-sevens are Adler’s preferred side arms, provided at McCullen's expense, these 5.7 mm pistols have been heavily modified, most physically notably with enlarged upper receivers. Features include a full auto feature, recoil compensators and 30-round weighted clips. Can be equipped with silencers.
• Foldable Katanas—A pair of foldable lightweight titanium alloy katanas, which can be compacted and hidden within one's sleeve.
• Zeleftoxin—A product of A.R.E.S research, these experimental super steroids greatly enhance Adler's own physical abilities, allowing his body and mind to work together to their fullest potential, while at the same time suppressing "non-combat essential" functions, such as emotions, turning him into an extremely deadly adversary. They, however, work only for a limited time and Adler only has a limited amount of them left ever since being cut off. Furthermore, the super steroids, if constantly abused or taken in large quantities all at once, can cause significant physical and mental damage.
• Bullet-Proof Suit—The distinct and stylish uniform of the Ordinariate of Azrael, the Black suit made from a unique durable fibre provides bulletproof and stabproof protection for most of Adler's body. Protects against most pistol rounds and low powered rifle rounds, anything above can easily shred through.
• Arm Deployers—a steel mechanism hidden under one's sleeves. Doubles as both a gun holster and ammunition holder. Holstered guns can be deployed right into their hands at a moment's notice via the mechanism, similarly, the mechanism can push ammunition outwards as well to allow for ease of reload. Stretches across the entire forearm.
Weaknesses:
• Slow Body—Though Adler's brain is enhanced, his body was not. Sometimes his brain processes incoming information and sends commands so fast that the body cannot catch up with them. This can either lead to Adler failing to react in time during situations of particular duress or even overextending and straining his body to the point of serious physical damage.
• Steroid Addiction—In the past, Adler had grown to become highly dependent on the super steroids provided by A.R.E.S. He has since gone "cold turkey." Though he has mostly gotten through his initial extreme addiction, his underlying temptation remains.

Background:
Job:
• Mall Security Guard
• Math Tutor
• Mercenary/Bodyguard/Gun-for-Hire (anonymously/occasionally)
Legal Status:
• US Citizenship
• As the Cleric—wanted by both government agencies and the criminal underworld in Europe, albeit no one knows his real identity
Backstory:
Adler was born into a rather unremarkable family—his mother a math teacher and his father a stunt actor. It seems then that fate had simply selected him at random, as he was abducted from his home in the middle of the night, presumed dead in an apartment fire. The mysterious organisation that took him in was the Ordinariate of Azrael—an elite order of Assassins for hire. The organisation's origins are a mystery to even those within the Order: some say that it was once a subsidiary of Opus Dei which answered directly to the Pope, only to go rogue; others, the remnants of the Knights Templar which, betrayed, went underground and waged a shadow war against both perceived heretics and the Church which they once served. It turned out that Adler had been chosen to take part in the Ordinariate's metahuman program, the Order's pursuit of the perfect enhanced assassin.

First, he was subjected to excruciating experimentation, his brain chemically rewired both by experimental drugs and directly manipulated by surgery for which he was conscious. After the experiments proved successful, Adler being the very first survivor of the experiments, he was then subjected to extreme indoctrination and mental programing to assure complete and utter loyalty to the Ordinariate. As if it couldn't get any worse, Adler's assassin training finally began, sent to join other Ordinariate recruits where he found himself starved, brutally abused and sent on an extreme training regime, many of his fellow cadets dying. During his training, he was taught how to kill effectively, how to sneak and infiltrate locations, how to blend in with a crowd, all the essential skills needed for an assassin in the shadows. He was taught further combat skills, the use of firearms and various martial arts, perhaps most notably the martial art of Gun Kata, a signature invention of the Ordinariate of Azrael which uses firearms as its primary tool. His special enhancements proved effective, and Adler became the class's most skilled and effective recruit by far. After several years of backbreaking, soul-crushing training where he acquired many skills, Adler finally "graduated" from his class, and became an official assassin of the Ordinariate—a Cleric.

Adler earned a fearsome reputation in the field among even the Ordinariate itself, going on various missions over the years often with deadly results. There was no target too well protected, no challenge too great that Adler couldn't overcome. Yet throughout it all, Adler held doubts, doubts and a hidden resentment at those who had taken him away from his home and tortured him for so long, his programming eroded and broken down by his brain's special enhancement. His fate would change when he was hired by Drostan McCullen, the premier Crime Lord in the British Isles. Hired out by the Ordinariate, the two figures would quickly develop a strange bond, one which made them an especially deadly pair. Over the years, with Adler's support, McCullen would not just cement his supremacy in the British Isles, but also spread his influence across Europe itself, subjugating the European Criminal Underworld bit by bit at an astonishing rate—entire crime families would be wiped out overnight, economic rivals shut down, figures mysteriously vanishing into thin air. All the while McCullen, seeing Adler's conflict, whispered words of dissent into his ear, advocating for freedom, for justice, for Adler to take hold of his life. And so it was that, as McCullen established a continent-spanning criminal empire, Adler finally turned on his masters. Using McCullen's resources and Adler's in-depth knowledge of Ordinariate operations, the two would launch a secret underground continent-wide purge of the entire Ordinariate in 2015. Under the cover of a McCullen sponsored terrorist attack, both Adler and McCullen would personally eradicate most of the Ordinariate's leadership in Paris, finally giving Adler the revenge he'd always desired.

It was in this moment of triumph, however, no longer clouded by revenge lust, that Adler began to see the sins of his actions. Countless innocents dead at his hands, directed by his brother-in-arms, who himself Adler began to see for what he really was—a manipulative, bloodthirsty and sadistic maniac. Yet, owing him a great debt and knowing not where else to go, Adler remained by McCullen's side as his loyal lieutenant and personal assassin, crushing any potential threat to his new master's rule with cold prejudice. Fate, however, changed once again in 2017 when Adler was sent by McCullen to secretly see whether investments the crime lord had put into the Kaiser-Kola Corporation were bearing fruit, infiltrating a top-secret research facility. It was here that he came into contact with the facility's project—not a machine or a new drink, but a lonely girl kept in solitary confinement. The girl, who Adler would come to name Clara, managed to break through the stone-cold wall Adler had erected around his heart. Over the span of a year, Adler would consistently re-infiltrate the facility under the guise of inspection, talking with Clara and giving her gifts.

As Adler's bond with Clara grew stronger, his bond with McCullen grew weaker. In a moment of wavering loyalty, fuelled by suspicion at his master's malevolence and curiosity as to his other operations, Adler would access McCullen's personal records. It was then that he discovered a terrible truth—that while the Ordinariate had kidnapped him, they were not the ones who'd experimented on him. Rather it was a research firm that had hired the Ordinariate to kidnap a candidate for metahuman research. A firm that had grown into Europe's premier military armaments corporation in recent years—A.R.E.S, the public face of McCullen's Criminal Empire. Suddenly everything became clearer—McCullen's tempting of Adler, his support of the Ordinariate's destruction, all towards the end of simultaneously securing Adler's loyalty and wiping out all evidence of McCullen's involvement in his experimentation.

It was then that McCullen discovered Adler's little nightly adventures and ordered him to cease. Adler would be taken with further horror and betrayal upon discovering McCullen, fearing that the loyalty of his lieutenant to be compromised, ordered that the project be terminated. That Clara be terminated. Adler sprang into action—first, he would break into the facility and rescue Clara, massacring many of the staff on the way. Then, to cover his tracks, Adler would leak A.R.E.S's involvement with major criminal elements across Europe, as well as the details of various major criminal operations and elements across the continent and their involvement in past terror attacks. In one swift stroke, McCullen's Empire would be crippled by both law enforcement and the League of Twelve.

At the same time, Adler would blackmail Kaiser-Kola's leadership, hanging their secret involvement with A.R.E.S and the experimentations with Clara over their heads, securing her release and safety. Clara in hand, the two would flee to America outside of McCullen's now significantly reduced reach, keeping a low profile. He forged himself a new identity—Arden Caleb, guardian of Clara Caleb, who'd moved to America after her parents had died.

Now, with Clara attending a Superhero Academy, Adler works to both support the two of them as well as keep her safe, working odd jobs and dipping his toes back a bit in his previous profession, a new stronger moral compass now guiding his path. All the while attempting to bury his past for good.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description

Motivations
Goals:
• Become a superhero
• Make new friends
• Save other metahumans who might've been in a similar situation as her
Fears:
• Claustrophobia
• Thalassophobia
• Being left alone
• Getting reacquired by the Kaiser Kola company

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: An artificially-grown human enhanced by a special radioactive-chemical-soda cocktail via several years of soaking
Powers :
• Kola Energy Manipulation—Through the power of Kaiser Kola genetic engineering, Clara can turn the innate power of sugary soft drink beverages into energy, which she can manipulate in various ways; from firing direct deadly beams of soda-fuelled energy to an energy blade capable of cutting through most material!
• Ultrasonic Sound Wave—Harnessing the gassy carbon dioxide from soft drinks, Clara can concentrate them and emit them in a huge sound wave which can throw even cars up into the air. What? Yes, it's basically a sonic burp, please don't make me describe it that way.
• Kaiser-Kola fuelled Regeneration—Clara can rapidly heal from most grievous wounds if there's enough Kaiser-Kola lying around. Though, she cannot regrow limbs.
• Soda Power-ups—While Kaiser-Kola serves as Clara's general fuel source, other Kola-owned soda brands provide Clara with different effects and power-ups. WunderFizz, for example, significantly enhances the power of her energy blasts (and changes their colour too depending on the flavour), whereas Sprint significantly enhances her speed even more so than Kola usually would.
• Superhuman Endurance—she could literally run for hours on end without getting tired, particularly if there's Kaiser-Kola around.
• Superhuman Agility—can move (as in move her body, not run specifically) extremely quickly, faster than many regular people can react. Some might even call her jittery at times.
Abilities:
• Enhanced Strength—Not a direct byproduct of her powers, but considering her hyperactivity and fast metabolism due to her genetics, she usually works out. A lot. Could match an Olympic weightlifter quite handily.
• Martial Arts acumen—having a top tier assassin as your guardian comes with perks. Clara has quite a decent amount of skill in various martial arts.
• Multilingual—Can speak multiple languages as part of her advertisement training to appeal to a large multinational audience. Albeit, she knows how to speak certain languages better than others, and even then, due to the context, the way she speaks these languages may seem odd as if she was talking in an advertisement.
Equipment:
• Kola Jet Pack—A special jetpack powered by Kaiser-Kola. How'd the eggheads at Kaiser-Kola figure this one out? Who knows.
• Kola Jet Boosters—Equipped in her boots, these boosters help stabilise and direct Clara while in flight.
• Kola Launcher—What may seem like a simple squirt gun is far deadlier than appears! Using special Kola ammunition, this "discount water gun" is in fact a complicated machine that can turn any fired liquid into a high-velocity projectile capable of penetrating steel plating and even exploding upon impact! The launcher is specifically keyed to using soda, however, with other liquids possibly producing unknown effects!
• Kola Kaiserin Suit—A skintight white suit. Rather than storing it in a tank, Kaiser-Kola is stored in small internal tubes all across the suit's area. The Kola stored throughout the suit can be accessed via a deployable tube/straw, which Clara can drink from.
• Helmet—Reminiscent of the typical fishbowl helmets of science fiction, the helmet actually contains a highly advanced targeting computer which, through a digital interface displayed in the helmet, helps Clara detect her surroundings, warn her of incoming attacks and calculate the most efficient paths or tactics she should take. It additionally assists her while in flight and contains several more additional features including a phone, access to the internet, a voice amplifier and even different visions like thermo and night vision.
Weaknesses:
• Non-Kola owned Soft Drinks—Due to the genetic machinations of the Kaiser-Kola corporation, soft drinks not owned by Kaiser-Kola are quite literally toxic to her. The effects and severity of such vary—Bull’s Juice will make her groggy like a drug; while Ally Wenson's Sarsaprilla will make her feel nauseous and ill. The most severe ailments come from those other-brand soft drinks with similar formulas to Kaiser Kola; consuming or coming into contact with Doktor Sodium will subject Clara to excruciating pain, akin to having acid flow through her veins; while Perestroika-Party Cola (or “Pere-Cola,” a Russian soda brand and Kaiser Kola’s biggest rival) will quite literally poison Pop Star, severely weakening her and, in large quantities, can bring her to the brink of death, bypassing her regeneration altogether.

Background:
Job:
• College student
• Part-time Amateur Model
• Part-time Burger Lord worker
Legal Status: US Citizen
Backstory:
In 2003, within a secret underground facility an artificial egg, genetically modified with desirable physical traits, was grown in a test tube. In this test tube was a special experimental cocktail meant to give this egg further special traits and abilities, composed of radioactive material, metahuman DNA purchased off the Black Market, genetically modified proteins and, strangest of all, Kaiser-Kola. See, Kaiser-Kola's wanted to create their own metahuman mascot—Kola Kaiserin! The champion of the world's most super soft drink! However, no hero fit the criteria they were looking for: most jarringly, a superhero with soft drink applicable powers. So they took the next logical step, endeavour to simply create their own hero! However, human experimentation of this kind was rather lawfully ambiguous, so Kaiser-Kola approached certain criminal elements in Europe, who pointed them in the direction of a figure only known as "Little Lucifer," who then pointed them in the direction of the A.R.E.S Corporation, who were only happy to (secretly) oblige! And so it was, in the middle of some desolate area in Ukraine purchased by Kaiser-Kola for factory development, a hidden A.R.E.S research facility was established.

Soon this egg was moved to a huge vat filled with what would be designated "Element CC." Over the years that egg would grow into a fetus, then a baby and finally a fully formed human child, the vat of CC providing all the nutrients she needed, oxygen being provided through a tube and muscles stimulated by electric pads. Finally released from the vat she'd lived her entire life in up till now, the test subject would begin her "upbringing" to become a mascot. Alongside normal education, the test subject was taught a variety of skills in different courses in a stringent schedule—she'd learn how to speak and act confidently in front of a crowd in Public Speaking class, how to advertise products effectively in Advertising Class, etiquette in Etiquette class, close-quarters combat in combat class, exhausting exercise in physical education and more. But above all, she was brought up and trained to take up the persona of Kola Kaiserin—the quirky, charismatic and always smiling mascot of Kaiser-Kola. Complaining, sagging, and anything else which deviated from the image of Kola Kaiserin all led to consequences. Many, many consequences. And at the end of each day, mentally and physically strained, she'd be put back in that vat—cold, dark, drowning and alone.

For days upon days, years upon years, the test subject would follow this schedule—wake up, get out of the vat, attend classes, break, attend more classes, and then be put back in the vat, floating while hoping for sleep. The only social interaction she'd get was from the lab researchers and her tutors, who rarely stopped to just have a chat. During break times she'd have access to a computer and the internet, albeit one heavily monitored, where she could only watch the outside world through a screen. Occasionally, she'd try to escape, each time she'd get an inch farther. But each time would fail, and each time would bring much punishment, so much so that she'd have to be put back in the vat before the day was even over.

Everything changed, however, on the day of what was supposed to be her 14th birthday, sometime in 2017. While in her secluded break room, one of the barred ventilation grills popped open and a strange man in strange clothes hopped down from it. Wearing black, with eyes even colder than her disciplinarian tutors, he made for an intimidating figure. Yet, he was also someone new. He asked who she was, she answered "Kola Kaiserin." Seemingly confused, albeit not outwardly showing it, he asked what her real name was. She...didn't have one, Kola Kaiserin was all she'd ever known. Losing interest, the strange man was about to hop back up into the vents, when she asked what his name was. He said it didn't matter—did that mean he didn't have a "real name" either? No, he stated, he simply didn't want to share it, that nobody would care to hear it anyways. Well, that's just mean—she shared her name, he should share his. And if he had a real name, he should be proud of it and tell everyone he met what it was! After all, he was lucky to have his own name, a name he wanted to keep. For a moment, it seemed like he'd simply ignore her. Until he finally told her, just before hopping back up into the vents: Adler.

A week later, Adler would return to her room. And again. And again. Soon it became a common routine and break time couldn't come fast enough. Over the period of a year, she and Adler would constantly talk. Initially, Adler would always be on guard, but as time progressed and they got into their own comfortable rhythm, the assassin would become relaxed, off guard even, something she could clearly tell was pretty rare. He would come once every week, always at break time, always on Sundays when many of the facility's staff would be gone. Sometimes he would bring gifts—a children's book she'd hideaway, a stuffed toy, but even empty-handed his very presence was gift enough for her. She became her best friend, someone she could confide in, sometimes play with, just talk with. And, eventually, even cry.

One day, something changed. Adler was late—minutes, then hours late. It scared her, far more than she could've ever imagined—what if something had happened? What if he'd changed his mind? What if he'd left her for good? She didn't want to be left behind, left alone again. They packed her back inside that vat, forcefully stuffed her even, but instead of simply leaving they put the vat on a trolley and began carting her off. She didn't know what was happening, where they were taking her, but at that moment she was filled with an insurmountable dread. She'd screamed, screamed the best she could with an oxygen tube shoved down her throat, bashed against the glass of her prison to no avail, even as they carted her down the hallway.

It was then that she heard them, dampened by the liquid that surrounded her. Gunshots. Like a vengeful agent, Adler burst down the hallway, gunning down the guards and staff that were moving her. Alone, he raised his pistol and fired multiple shots at the vat itself, the glass shattering and releasing her. And so it was that Adler rescued her and, after taking some nifty prototype equipment that was meant for her once she was ready, the two stormed out of the facility, going through countless guards, before finally reaching the surface. For the first time in her life, she finally saw the sky, the real sky, above her.

With Kaiser-Kola blackmailed into dissolving any and all claims of ownership, the pair fled to America, where Adler finally decided to give her a name. Clara. She kept it.

The first year was hard, the two having to move from city to city, working odd jobs here and there to keep themselves financially afloat. But eventually, they would settle down in Maine, purchasing a quaint little apartment unit. Saving up enough money, Clara would finally attend a real school for the first time. It was an amazing sensation, meeting new people, treated like an actual human being and being surrounded by crowds of strangers in wide-open spaces. But her lack of social skills meant that no matter how sincere she'd tried to be, she was mostly isolated at school. 2020, however, brought about a new change, as Clara, with Adler's reluctant support, registered herself as a superhuman in accordance with the law.

Having thought about the prospect for a long while, Clara decided that enough was enough—she may have been forced into her powers, gained them from a childhood of isolation and pain. But she was going to be damned if she didn't at least try to use them for good. That same year, she registered into one of the many Metahuman Academies in the country, taking the alias of Pop Star...

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
Name: Samuel "Sam" Hutchinson
Aliases: Pheidippides
Gender: M
Age: 25
Appearance:
Sam is a 5'11" man with dark hair and brown eyes. He is clearly fit, and occasionally appears to stop breathing.

Motivations
Goals:Short term: help other people. Long term: figure out how he wants to spend eternity.
Fears: Outlasting human civilization, mild claustrophobia

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: genetic mutation
Powers :
Limitless Endurance: Does not get tired or worn out at all. If he can perform a physical act once, he can do it as many times as he wants. Similarly, when doing things like running or swimming, he can maintain any speed he can reach indefinitely.

Thermal Regulation: His body is much better at maintaining its core temperature than the average person. Sam can comfortably run when the temperature outside is in the 90s, as well as comfortably sit around when the temperature gets down to the 30s.

Self Sustainable: Sam needs no sleep, food, water, or air to live. Also only needs to take bathroom breaks if he eats and/or drinks. Even though he doesn't need to he usually still breathes out of habit.

Speed Healing: He heals quicker than ordinary humans. Minor injuries such as blisters and small scrapes heal in minutes while larger injuries heal several times faster than normal. His healing also prevents the wear and tear on joints and muscles that comes with high levels of exercise.

Biological Immortality: His powers have caused him to cease aging, meaning he can't die via natural causes, so he is biologically immortal. He is killable though- his abilities are powered by his blood, so he behaves identically to a normal human in terms of blood loss/heart damage. In addition, severe diseases and nervous system damage can kill him, as well as things like hypothermia and heatstroke.

Abilities:
Fitness: Sam has a degree of fitness on par with a professional athlete, and is capable of achieving 20mph in a full sprint. Strangely, despite obscene amounts of exercise, he can't seem to improve his fitness level any further.
US DMA Training: Sam was thoroughly trained by the US DMA, meaning he can use a gun competently and is pretty good at hand-to-hand combat, although he isn't an expert at either.
Equipment:
Body Armor: Sam has a black suit of body armor similar to police riot gear with US DMA on the chest in big white letters.
Pistol: a Glock 19, plus ammo
Weaknesses:
Insomnia: Sam is physically incapable of going to sleep without the aid of drugs or blunt force trauma, and while his body doesn't need more sleep, his mind does- going a week without sleep results in mental fatigue, and going two weeks without sleep results in paranoia. Currently, he manages this by using prescription drugs to knock himself out for eight hours twice a week.

Background:
Job: US DMA Agent
Legal Status: US Citizen
Backstory:
Sam didn't have a particularly eventful childhood. Growing up money was pretty tight, and in combination with his mediocre grades meant he was unable to continue his education past high school. He wound up living in a tiny apartment funded by an unfulfilling warehouse job. While he did wind up getting fit as a result of working at the warehouse, he hated the job because it was physically and mentally draining. However, that wouldn't last forever.

Two years into the job, things started to become much easier for Sam. He had found himself becoming much less exhausted after his shifts, despite despite difficulty sleeping, and eating less. Sam's powers had surfaced, and it was making his life much easier. Realizing he had some sort of superhuman endurance, Sam quit his job and decided to test out his powers by going to a beach on the Atlantic, and seeing how far west he could run. His run lasted eight days, after which he stopped, not because he was tired, but because he had reached the Pacific ocean.

The US DMA was quite interested in Sam, because he was an unknown metahuman capable of crossing an entire continent in a single run, even if it did take him awhile. When Sam reached the ocean, the US DMA offered him a job and a ride home, both of which he gladly accepted. After some initial training and testing, Sam took the name of the guy who inspired the marathon as an alias and became a full time agent and part time lab rat for the US DMA, where he is today.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
Name: Cyril Rizk
Aliases: Atlas
Gender: Male
Age: 28 (Several thousand when in the form of Atlas)
Appearance:
Image
His costume is relatively simplistic, a white robe that covers his waist to knees, while a golden laurel crown rests on the back of his head and ears. When pushed, he slowly begins to armour himself with summouned vambraces and greaves, with a Corinthian helmet being last of all. His form represents that of the existing statues of Atlas, large and hulking.

Motivations
Goals: When possessed, Atlas wishes to achieve his freedom by doing great and heroic deeds that protect the innocents, when not, Cyril only wants to not lose his flat or wake up surrounded by bad guys
Fears: Both fear waking up to find themselves still being punished, while Cyril's is particularly finding that Atlas had gotten them into deep trouble before having to leave. Additionally, he's concerned that Atlas's presence may leave him damaged in some way or that Atlas may eventually decide that getting his freedom by doing good is taking to long and simply go rogue to do so, harming whoever it taakes to achieve it.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Cyril gains his power from Atlas, the Titan cursed to hold up the sky.
Powers : Super Strength: When Atlas, he possesses superhuman strength, capable of breaking concrete with ease and metal after a few attempts, though walls thicker than 25cm require a more concentrated effort. He can tear chunks of the earth out and throw them the length of a football field. His main hustle of holding up the sky also means Cyril can hold up to several hundred tons.
Superhuman Endurance: Atlas' endurance is legendary, he rarely tires when commiting himself to a task and find longs distances trivial at best. He could strike a thousand times at his peak strength and only begin to tire at the 1001st hit.
Invulnerability: Atlas possesses a degree of invulnerability, though it's diluted and has a maximum it can pushed before he begins to take damage, for instance being smashed by a car travelling 60mph or powers linked to spirtual beings, leaking golden blood as a consequence, which in turn weakens him as his essence fades away.
Orbs: In what he considers a great irony, Atlas is capable of summonding hand-sized celestial spheres (explosive orbs that look like a nebula condensed together) to throw at his enemies
Abilities: Multilingual: Atlas is capable of speaking a number of ancient languages, while Cyril can speak Arabic and English
Self-Defence: Cyril is capable of fighting when necessary, his occaisonal stints of being ditched by Atlas in threatening situations convinced him of this necessity. His primary form is wrestling/pankration.
Equipment: Sword of Alexander: A powerful artefact, the sword was captured by Atlas from artefact traffickers who did not understand it's strength. Incapale of rusting and ever sharp, it was kept so that Cyril would not find himself defenseless if Atlas had to leave.
Weaknesses: Durability: Being a vessel for the unknowable power of a Greek Titan, Cyril's body can only sustain a sliver of Atlas' essence to avoid the risk of its own disintergration. Each excursion leaves him tired, while a particularly strenous one that, like ones involving combatting other superheroes can leave him exhausted and sleeping for days, while damage taken by Atlas is felt much more when he returns to mortal form, his divine aura not present enough numb the pain of healing injuries. Likewise, increased damage can cause his form to flicker between immortal and mortal with the powers flickering out as well.
Legendary Weapons: Weapons of mystical, magical, and legendary origins are a particular weakness of Atlas, capable of passing his invulnerability with ease. For some reason, Atlas has kept this weakness hidden from Cyril, so any encounter will certainly be a surprise.
Immortal Duties: Though what exactly holding up the sky means is unclear, Atlas must sometimes pause his actions as he attempts to restabilize his grip, sometime necessitating his absence entirely, leaving Cyril particularly vulnerable.

Background:
Job: Museum Tour Guide
Legal Status: Dual Egyptian and US Citizenship, clean record
Backstory: Cyril was born to Coptic immigrants from Egypt, fleeing unrest and settling in the US. Always fascinated by the history of his family, particularly his father's fanciful stories that they were descended from the great heroes of myth and were capale of sustaining their essence within their mortal forms. Obviously, as he grew up, he didn't believe any of it, but still found them interesting. This interest led to him excelling in history, though he was no slouch in other subjects. Being from an immigrant family, he applied himself to his many responsibilities dillegently, taking advantage of oppurtunities his parents lacked. He found it particularly fun to play in a number of sport societies in high school, though he wasn't a stand-out star at any rate.

Upon graduating high school with high grades, he enlisted in the USMC for the minimum term to be eligible for his GI Bill. His first posting to Greece was where his troubles with Atlas started. Reaching the island, he could hear small whisperings trying to gain his attention, calling for him to follow. He worked hard to ignore them, though eventually he couldn't resists without losing it. Taking a brief leave, he followed the voice, finding a small cave hidden away in the mainland. In there, stood a small shrine, with the statue of Atlas holding the sky standing in the centre. Various offerings, some fresh, were scattered around the place. It was here, that they began to converse. Atlas confirmed to him that his father's stories had been true, but it was few and far between that someone in his family could posess a being.

Realising this, Cyril asked what Atlas wanted, with Atlas saying that he only wished to earn his redemption and freedo. Recognising it as an admirable goal, Cyril ascented to Atlas' possessinon of him. The initial pain was unbearable, like a dented nail being hammered repeatedly into his brain and necessitated severel weeks of bedrest. Though, when he recovered, he found himself stronger and found his hair grew far easier than it had done before. His face had changed slightly as well, becoming sharper and stronger in it bone structure.

Upon his discharge from the marines, he attended university to study history and archaeology, with the intention of working with museums. Having the voice of a Greek deity also helped him in this field, attaining high marks and work for a prestigious museum of ancient Greek history, if it weren't for the voice in his head he would've forgotten entirely about Atlas. With the emergence of volatile superhumans, it is now that Atlas has begun to appear, taking over Cyril's body when needed. Atlas informed him that it had taken time to coalesce his essence together in a way that could safely inhabit Cyril's body, hence why he had been relegated only as a voice until now.

Name: Karra Rasseri
Aliases: Soul Angel
Gender: F
Age: Chronologically 22, mentally 17
Appearance:
Chillin in human low-power non-combat mode

Combat/work modes replace skin and clothing with a more streamlined armor-like appearance, complete with various rounded external light sources, useful for flying at night but primarily for being minimum-resistance energy discharge for pew-pew and the like.

Height: 5' 10"/178cm Weight: 404lbs/183.5kg

Motivations
Goals: Reobtain humanity and emotion? When you have no feeling, what are goals?
Fears: Do i feel fear? Is this nothingness, this emptiness, what fear is for my kind? If i never became human again, would i be afraid?

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Spiritual Machine
Powers :
Spiritual Machine Physiology: Karra is, to put simply, a human Soul in an Android body. Ghost in the Shell is real now, with added spirit powers and a real life HUD and character customization screen. Her physiology grants the following:

Enhanced Condition: Being a fully artificial bio-mechanical "lifeform" of an android, Karra is by her very nature pushed past the limitations of peak humanity in all fields. Everything from the Strength to lift 4-5.5 tons in perfect control, and punch through 6 feet of normal building grade concrete - the speed to maintain 70km/h with ease and fly up to speeds of 600km/h in base form (though the energy use is terrific, it is used for short distances at lower speeds), and the durability to shrug off anything less than armor-piercing rifle rounds or still be functioning after small-medium sized explosions or building collapses. Even her emotions and her very Soul itself are Enhanced.

Spiritual Force Manipulation/Soul Manipulation: Karra's new body is specifically designed to harness the power of the Soul as an energy source, weapons, attacks, armor, healing, you get the idea. With it she can generate energy, use blasts of Soul Energy as direct attacks, or infuse objects such as her sword or fists with it to increase attack power. It can be solidified to form a shield, as well as used heal more minor wounds or assist and speed up healing of more severe ones in biological lifeforms. She can see other souls, and when in direct contact can Read them, or absorb them, or perform a real life exorcism. Her body and sword further count as Soul-Bonded armor and weapons, as their bio-mechanical nature is partly made from the DNA of her former body, and as a result, are useless to anyone else.

Absorption involves the... absorption of a human soul from its body, temporarily, into her own. Morally, Ethically, and Safety wise, this is expressly only permitted with consent. Though, it can be done forcefully, the target has the ability to fight back, first by resisting removal from their body, and second by fighting Karra in hers to either escape, or take control themselves. Even with consent, it will take 5-7 seconds to safely withdraw a soul, and a fight for this process could easily go on for minutes if there is no clear upper hand by either side. During this time, both parties are immobilized, though Karra retains the ability to abort the process at any time. Once successful, a consensual absorption would be used in an attempt to spark an emotion. A non-consensual one would become a fight to control the new body, and will make normal functionality impossible for it's duration, as well as cause increasingly severe internal damage the longer it goes on, requiring repair, or possibly outright rescue. Furthermore, to go through any of this at all requires direct bodily contact, involving its own risks in achieving, and only one at a time.

Destruction of Souls is not possible, or at least not proven. Regardless, Karra's response to the question is that some knowledge is never meant to be known, and to anyone seriously trying to unlock it, her response will be the delightful sound of you being stabbed to death.

Souls can be understood as "the mind", a metaphysical presence of energy representing the consciousness and brain. Tampering or harming them directly is dangerous, and is a literal attack on the conscious itself. Souls have a natural and powerful inclination to their own bodies, a soul removed from its body but released into the world, will always travel to return to its living vessel. An exorcised soul, as performed in a literal exorcism by Karra, could instead be captured in the way she was, or simply tossed into whatever religions variation of hell happens to be true.

After a consensual absorption, the soul is (obviously) peacefully returned to its body. During its little adventure, its native body is effectively a vegetable, with nothing but vital functions still operating. During a non consensual absorption, the conflict takes place as a battle of souls, a contest of willpower, emotion, all that fun complicated mess that makes people, people.

Soul Reading is defined by the following: They can study and observe the nature of one's soul and find weaknesses based on the nature of the observed souls. By reading souls, the user can see/feel the being's characteristics, personality, feelings, memories, whether they even have a soul, damage others' souls have endured, and whether or not another entity is possessing or influencing the person on a spiritual level. It is far, far easier and safer to resist this if so inclined. However, in the event of successful absorption, this happens automatically.

Soul Energy can form nifty shields to handle bullets and explosions to falling buildings and things of that caliber. or projectiles as unnerving as a swarm of pistol-caliber ammunition to small field guns (37-45mm). The upper levels of these, of course, require Karra to have unlocked her specialized forms.

Advanced Bio-Mechanical Exoskeleton: The new and most updated version of her body is a highly advanced, currently one-of-a-kind, bio-mechanical exoskeleton created from her former body's DNA, nanorobotics, and ArchAngel's proprietary Soul Amplification technology. As a result, it not only possesses the strengths of being artificial as mentioned before, but feels no less natural than her original body - and - most importantly, is fully customizable. Everything about her appearance and physical form can modified. Theoretically if she so desired she could turn into a cube, for whatever reason. More pointedly, this functions to give her the ability to analyze combat and experience data and make modifications and improvements, even real-time as they happen. This is how she gets her white-golden glowy orbs and ability to project wings for flight.

This includes fully harmonizing with her Soul Manipulation, and using the massively increased power response from emotions to radically change and min/max out of her base form into something more specialized. There are three primary "Trees" of this specialization. Assault, which min/mazes to cut defense and armor and dump everything into speed, agility and weapons systems, and glows red! Guardian, which reduces offensive and general weapons and mobility operations to maximize raw physical strength and durability and defensive measures, and glows blue! Finally, the Ascendance tree, which is currently still in theoretical design phase, but is meant to be a general across the board increase of performance, essentially combining Assault and Guardian into a third and final form. It's also commonly referred to as "Karra 2.0".

The assault mode primarily tosses out endurance, durability and survivability. This means it puts extreme strain on everything, and will rip apart improvised parts much faster, but if it decides to disable all critical base survival processes it will damage even the good parts. Durability means it loses all the armor and throws it into energy generation, and more places it can shoot things and make go fast happen with max efficiency. Survivability means it also reduces the base frame beneath the armor to its minimum acceptable limits and may again, disable important things like "Self preservation" or power throughput limits. So the only defense it has is being very fast and being surrounded by an aura of energy eating things it comes into contact with. Aura is the only reason you'd still need high powered firearms. In doing this it dumps everything into higher energy generation for greater general power to everything. The small cannon shots can either become more numerous or just bigger, less a swivel gun and more a 37 or 45mm, the bullet like projectiles can either just get stronger or become a storm of submachine gun ammo pattering into walls sort of thing. The form is improved aerodynamically and adds thrust directly to the legs to overpower drag on straight foot while pushing through the back where the flight slots are to give added lift.

For the Guardian mode, essentially invert the above, it reduces overall firepower and mobility to increase energy generation and throw it all into added armor and shielding. The best way to imagine it is: Assault is when you want a Platoon of Tanks for breakthrough, Guardian is when you want Engineers. Either way, both will require support for their shortcomings.

While the customization of her body can theoretically turn into anything - there is one caveat - its mass must remain the same.

Karra's advanced systems have the ability to consume local solid matter and transform it into replacement parts. These parts are nowhere near as good as the original, and this low-level regeneration is the Souldroid equivalent of battlefield triage.

Abilities:
Way of the Sword: She does carry a sword, she does know how to use it, pretty damn well, even for an android with enhanced learning and physical capabilities. Any human master not backed up by their own meta powers would be wise to not even think about it.
Anti-Personnel Combat Training: From algorithms to throwing money at special forces veterans, she has been trained in multiple forms of what can be generally described as, anti-personnel operations.
Equipment:
Soul Breaker: Fancy bio-mechanical-spiritual sword whose existence and usage is unique to Karra herself.
Weaknesses:
Apathetic: Karra cannot feel emotions. At all. Zip, zilch, nada. Numerous experiments have been tried, including absorbing (leeching, they call it) the souls of fleshy human ArchAngel employees to try and trigger an emotional response. It hasn't worked, and while it's theorized and actual bond between the target and Karra is required, the fact remains that having no emotion not only makes her a tad useless for anything involving a personal touch, but also completely incapable of progressing beyond her baseline functionality. While typically enough on its own, its well known and not unheard of for far more dangerous entities and situations to exist, and in such an event, well. She's a bit fucked.

Control Error: Without question, the Soul Manipulation granted by this unforeseen body upgrade is powerful. It is also, however, extremely primitive and far from mastery. While it can, like anything else be blocked or deflected, more interestingly, is that any half competent magician or soul powers or such things user, could just as easily redirect it entirely, or negate it, or whatever else. Being her own power, it would be elementary for Karra to block or defeat this counter. Of course, if, for some reason she's unable to do that... like you're pointing it at a hostage and she chooses to protect them, the damage will be... debilitating. As it is her own Soul Energy shot back at her, this is, quite literally, self harm, and the best case effects from a relatively low power shot would be equivalent to trying fight through a mild tranquiller, while a relatively strong shot, would cause outright and immediate incapacitation, as well as a delightful stew of psychological pain and problems ontop of the physical.
This lack of control further extends to Karra's powered modes. Her EC enhances everything her soul - but also her emotion. Imagine if you had no memory at all of ever experiencing emotion, and, then, suddenly, you felt 10x more rage or love than any human could ever experience. How would you react? Probably the same way Karra would, by going absolutely out of control mad. Flying into a murderous, unstoppable attack doctrine, or becoming so consumed with matters of the heart what offensive ability she retains would not see itself used on the villain. Though, she would at least still be shielding innocents and allies, she'd also be trying to everyone from continuously trying to kill each other, or otherwise being easily baited into sacrificing herself and position to save someone, that sort of thing.

A Ghost in the Shell, if you will: Karra relies pretty heavily on her Soul Powers. If by chance you're immune or resistant to this, your life got alot easier. If by chance you use such things yourself, and yours is stronger, your life just got set to easy mode, as you can cause some extreme, debilitating, or if you're really strong, outright existence-ending damage quickly. And, as mentioned in the Spirit techno-babble, nonconsensual absorptions that make it to her body will cause increasingly severe and critical damage to her internally, potentially requiring outright rescue to even escape.

Background:
Job: Hero Contractor for ArchAngel Technologies, currently Contracted to UNMAO-IRIS
Legal Status: United States Citizen
Backstory: On December 21st, 2012, there was much abuzz from many a fool around the globe over. Convinced the world would end. An ancient stone age civilization that went extinct long ago, who despite their primitive origins, mapped the stars and celestials with alarming accuracy, just so happened to have their incredibly accurate calendars end on this date. So the "logic" went, the world must surely be set to end on this day.

The world, of course, did not end on December 21st, 2012. Or, at least not for 99% of humanity, it did not. For a 12 year old girl in Chicago, daughter of two wealthy parents, her father a Co-Founding investor of ArchAngel Technologies headquartered within the city, the world most certainly did end on this day. As she was driven home from school by her chauffeur, and accompanying team of bodyguards, the small convoy of three vehicles was attacked, right in the middle of the city. Ostensibly, the objective of the religious terrorists was to kidnap the girl, named Karra, and use her life as a bargaining chip against her father and ArchAngel, who had gathered immense ire from the religious for their extensive and often controversial work with trying to marry incredible technology to magic, mutants, non-human entities, and even - and most egregiously - Souls.

A fight erupted in the middle of the city as her bodyguard resisted. As the battle raged on, and help came from local authorities and meta humans thwarted the attack soundly. However, in the combat, Karra was mortally injured by explosives, with significant parts of her body torn up or missing - beyond what even ArchAngel could repair. Transported to the HQ and accompanying lab in Chicago, the elite medical and technology team reported to her father and the Board of Directors that she could not be saved. Even the most advanced life support systems would only give her another 12 hours at best. The received an expected bout of silence for their news...

Her father, Argus Rasseri, stood up and signed a paper on the table before him. The team received the first words from a grieving parent, and their boss. "The first human soul-capture experiment begins now. You have until the subject's body is no longer viable." The call was cut immediately afterwards. An emergency call was placed to all staff, halting all other projects, and summoning all off-duty staff on-site immediately. At this point time, experiments had only been conducted on animals. The first test on monkeys was barely two years prior, and while the system had been developed further upon towards eventual human testing, the road map for even considering the first experiments were a decade away.

Thirteen hours later, the teams assembled in the large conference hall with the Board of Directors. It was stated plainly, that if this had not worked, Karra Rasseri was now gone from this earth. The system used was simple, essentially connecting a Soul to a computer. No body, no nothing, just a direct plugin to a computer. Argus was instructed to call for her, and as he did so, the monitor turned on, showing nothing but a black and green wall of code which seemed to scroll on and on. Finally, as the code faded, a message appeared on screen. "Dad? Why can't i feel anything?"

After a few minutes fanfare, Karra's Soul was put into stasis, and stored. The first ever soul-capture on a human subject was successful. For the next 3 years, she remained in stasis. Momentarily awakened to test a new kind of android body, being designed specifically for soul-captured humans. While a success, it was nowhere near ready to properly accommodate a human consciousness comfortably, and she was returned to stasis again for 2 more years.

Awakened once again, Karra would be in the very first iteration of what would be further developed into her current body. Designed to be a combination of bio-mechanics and a Soul, it was incapable of operating or functioning in anyway without a captured human soul, the only one currently in existence. A few months later, Argus on behalf of ArchAngel Technologies, held a press conference to tell the world two pieces of great news: his daughter was alive, and the first human soul was successfully taken unharmed from its body, and given a new, artificial one to replace it.

Testing continued for the next 5 years, alongside inhouse education, struggling primarily and immensely with her unexpected and inexplicable apathy - total lack of emotion. Though she had memories, she could not remember what emotions even felt like. Experiments from Therapy, to capturing and "leeching" souls herself, with the now far more advanced technology to do so at her body's disposal, failed. As questions from a curious public continued to roll in for years, wondering if the Soul-powered Android would be joining the ranks of heroes with her new power, it became popular consensus at ArchAngel that for the Soul Leech to work properly, she would need an actual emotional bond to the target. There was no concrete evidence for this, of course, but nonetheless it convinced the Board, who authorized a one-time experimental deployment with local agencies to test the waters.

The local deployment was a success on all levels, from the agencies point of view and especially for ArchAngel, where Karra had not only been a functioning and notable role in an operation targeting gangs in Chicago's South-Side. Specifically, she was noted for rescuing a smaller team of newer heroes like herself in the midst of a firefight, having used incredible speed to get there, durability and long-range high-accuracy combat to create a buffer for retreat, and performing first aid without the need of medical supplies. With this song of praise, the Board of Directors rapidly approved offering - with some arm twisting by dad - contractor status for her, a rare honor in circumstances such as these, and following her signing, contracted Karra to the United Nations, in part for international recognition.

Of course, she wouldn't be known as Karra anymore. She had returned with something other than experience from her local deployment. She had operated that first time without one, a hero alias.

Soul Angel.

His costume is relatively simplistic, a white robe that covers his waist to knees, while a golden laurel crown rests on the back of his head and ears.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
Name: Drostan McCullen
Aliases: Little Lucifer, Drostan Roderick (cover as Supervisor of C.E.T.O)
Gender: Male
Age: 46
Appearance:
Ordinary
Image
With green eyes

Gas Mask/Little Lucifer
Image
Additionally wears fedora and red contact lenses

Image

Height: 6ft 1
Weight: 80 kg

Motivations
Goals:
• Rediscover the entity that saved his life
• Rebuild his criminal empire
• Reap vengeance upon those who wronged him
Fears:
• Losing his power
• Dying, that his soul would be damned and sent to Hell for his past dealings

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: A deal made with a mysterious and powerful entity and/or long-dormant magical/mutated genes from a long line of ancient metahumans that have only been recently reawakened. Either or.
Powers :
• Plasma Manipulation & Projection—Drostan can manipulate the state of matter plasma and project it in any form he pleases. This allows him to use absorbed plasma to freely generate and control forms of plasma such as fire, electricity, just plain pure plasma energy and theoretically even a miniature sun (though this move would likely kill him). At his maximum capacity, Drostan can conjure a plasma beam large enough to engulf a house and incinerate it in an instant, albeit only for a split second before using up all the energy in his body.
• Plasma Absorption—Allows for the absorption of plasma and forms of plasma, which can be stored to a certain limit in Drostan's body for further use.
• Plasma Resistance—Drostan's body is inherently resistant to plasma and the forms it takes.
• Glowing Eyes—When using his powers, Drostan's eyes will occasionally glow. This typically happens at the initial activation of his powers, though they will also glow if Drostan uses his powers to points of great intensity. Intensity of the glow can vary, from a simple "reshading" of the eyes to all-out emission of light rays as seen below.
Image
• Mysterious Visions—Drostan every now and then gets visions, assumedly from the same entity that saved his life. They typically don't provide anything particularly relevant or important, but they do give Drostan one hell of a headache.
Abilities:
• Master Pickpocket
• Master Lockpick
Equipment:
• Lucy—A double-barreled Desert Eagle. Its inner design and machinations allow for less recoil and less weight for equal firepower. The gun's individual barrels can also independently automatically swivel to up to 90 degrees to the left or right.
• Extreme Temperature Resistant Gloves—As plasma energy forms around his hands, the gloves will allow him to utilise more powerful and intense attacks without the risk of overwhelming his natural resistance and hurting himself.
• Cane—a cane with a knob-like handle and various intricate decorations along the shaft made of ivory, the shaft itself is made from Australian Buloke—the strongest wood in the world. The handle is made from a silver-tungsten alloy as is the ending tip of the cane; which has been sharpened to the point where it could easily cut and pierce through flesh.
• Gold Snake Penant—An ancient antique dated to be thousands of years old depicting a slithering snake, the crescent moon lying underneath. For some reason, this particular artefact was extremely attractive to Drostan.
Weaknesses:
• Weapons of divine power—Weapons with prestigious religious/supernatural significance or enchantment are extremely effective against Drostan.
• Plasma Resistance—Though Drostan is resistant to plasma-based forms, he is not immune. If overexposed to forms of plasma like fire or electricity in large and concentrated enough quantities, it will overwhelm and harm him as any of these elements would a regular person.
• Water—water tends to counter most forms of plasma. Two forms of plasma that Drostan typically uses, fire and electricity, can be put out or conducted by water.

Background:
Job:
• Crime Lord (secret)
• Supervisor at C.E.T.O (Clean Energy for Terra Offices), A.R.E.S's clean energy subsidiary
Legal Status:
• As Drostan Roderick—Citizen of the United Kingdom
• As Drostan McCullen—Deceased. As far as the legal system knows, the teenager Drostan McCullen died in a domestic abuse incident, his body left unrecovered after a house fire.
• As "Little Lucifer"—Wanted by governments across Europe, though no one knows his real identity. Many don't even think he exists.
Backstory:
Origins
Drostan is a bastard. Figuratively, yes, but within the context of his story, it's meant literally; birthed on the 6th of June, 1976, the illegitimate son of Earl Aleister McCullen and some desperate college graduate who'd slept with him for a Doctorate in Mathematics. Aleister himself was no simple peach—he was the head of the McCullen Crime Family, an old prestigious institution that had dominated the Scottish criminal underground for centuries, which itself was the head of the Caledonian Syndicate; a joint union between all the major crime families of Scotland. Aleister, too, was a bastard—actually figuratively this time, not literally. A drunken, angry playboy who was frankly running the McCullens into the ground, a puppet of the other Scottish families.

Of course, he didn't understand that fact, he was an idiot. And when idiots failed, they naturally blame someone else. It just so happened that he constantly blamed Drostan, as if a babe was the cause of all his woes. With his mother fleeing to the mainland long ago on the one hand and his father being a typical abusive alcoholic on the other, it lay on the organisation's lieutenants to raise him properly. They taught him the ropes and the trades of running a criminal enterprise, along with smaller skills like pickpocketing and pick locking which may prove useful. Considering they were also composed of some of the most sadistic, sociopathic and cold-hearted criminals on the block, some of that may or may not have been inherited by Drostan too. Yet despite facing these harsh realities, Drostan always remained optimistic about the future, almost naively friendly. His father complained about him being too soft, unwilling to kill even a fly, and called him a coward but he didn't care. He attended the University of Edinburgh, making it to the top of his class, with a bright future ahead of him separate from this of his father or the underworld.

Rise in Britain
One day, on his 19th birthday, he got into an argument with old daddy Aleister. The next thing Drostan knew, his own father drew a gun on him and he was on the floor, bleeding out. As he approached his final death, a vision came to him. An entity, ancient and powerful, approached him, its voice booming in a tongue he did not know yet somehow understood. The entity came with an offer—he would save Drostan, give him the power to enact his vengeance, and in return, all he had to do was pledge his soul. Well, with an offer like that, who could refuse? The next thing he knew, Drostan reawakened; a new man with new powers.

The first thing he did was barge into his father, who was attending a meeting with the rest of the Caledonian Syndicate. Before all the families of Scottish High Criminal Society, staring into his father's shocked and terrified eyes, Drostan snapped his fingers and fire engulfed his hand. Sending flames forth, he'd watched with palpable satisfaction his father was burned alive and reduced to ash. Then, he'd given an ultimatum to those in the room—pledge allegiance to him, or burn. By the time morning came, there was so much ash it was as if someone had forgotten to turn off the oven. The Caledonia Massacre, as it would come to be called, would be whispered in fear across the criminal underworld—the tale of a man returning from the dead and exacting his revenge, immolating those who'd wronged him. It even earned him a nickname; Little Lucifer.

After quickly consolidating his rule over Scotland's criminal underworld, he sprang into action. First, he helped found a new corporation—the "Armaments Research and Energy Syndicate" or "A.R.E.S" to become the public face of his growing criminal enterprise. Hiring researchers, his unique manipulation of plasma energy allowed them insights into science never before possible, allowing A.R.E.S to develop a string of revolutionary high tech armaments and energy sources unmatched by even Britain's premier corporations. With his public facade covered, Drostan began expanding his influence towards the rest of the British isles, rapidly subjugating the various criminal operations and organisations of the rest of the UK. Drostan's intuition in criminal operations, along with his metahuman abilities and a steady supply of high-quality equipment courtesy of A.R.E.S meant that none could oppose him. Family after family, mob after mob fell one by one until Drostan had become the undisputed dominant Crime Lord of the British Isles. The McCullen Consortium had been born.

Adler enters the scene
Yet despite all this, he still faced problems. Still, there were potential rivals to his rule, smaller operations that continued to resist him. On the surface, A.R.E.S faced issues in its own corporate war, with larger rival companies battling with them in price wars, government contracts, and even sabotage. Threats like these required a more delicate touch—what he needed was his own personal assassin. And so he contacted the premier organisation of assassins for hire in Europe: the Ordinariate of Azrael, a powerful group with an almost mystical legend that had sold its services and manipulated European politics for centuries. Instead of simply renting out an assassin, he instead gave them an offer: if they were to supply him with a suitable candidate, train said candidate and pledge their services exclusively to Drostan, then he would provide for them their first metahuman assassin. They accepted, brought to him a young boy, not even ten, they'd abducted from Germany; Adler Rhein. Handing the boy over to A.R.E.S, experimental modifications were implemented that would assure the boy was naturally superior to any human. Of course, knowing of the Ordinariate's tendency to implant mental programming to assure loyalty, Drostan made sure to insert his own—one that made the boy much more dispositioned towards Drostan's suggestions.

Years would go by as Drostan continued to try and cement his rule in Britain before his investment finally came to fruition. Adler Rhein, Cleric Assassin of the Ordinariate of Azrael, was deployed and pledged into Drostan's personal service. Fun quickly followed—almost overnight, most of the remaining independent criminal elements were uncovered and violently disposed of, their bodies found strewn in alleyways or at the bottom of the Thames. On the surface, various British weapons and energy corporations suddenly found themselves in quite a pickle—top researchers met with tragic accidents, scandalous secrets leaked, CEO's abruptly retired from their positions. Soon enough, A.R.E.S had become the dominant armaments corporation in the isles and had a monopoly on Britain's government contracts concerning weapons supply and energy development. His rule over Britain's underworld was finally cemented, the end of the beginning.

Ascension in Europe and Supremacy
Next, he went after continental Europe. Rival criminal operations were either taken over or leaked to the authorities and dismantled. The heads of various families died, one by one, bosses dropping like flies. And as they grew weaker, Drostan grew stronger. For over a decade, Drostan and Adler together took over the European Criminal Underworld, paving the way for the former's ascension. By 2015, Drostan had become powerful enough that, together, they eradicated the Ordinariate itself, scattering their remaining members into the wind and removing the last great threat to Adler's loyalty. Dubbed the "Night of Fallen Angels," this firm show of power brought the remaining major criminal elements of Europe to the negotiation table.

And so it was, gathered in a large manor somewhere in the Highlands, that the leaders of Europe's criminal underworld formed the "European Syndicate of Associated Criminal Operations" or simply "The Syndicate," with Drostan at its head. Finally, Drostan had achieved what his deadbeat dad could only dream of—supremacy, leading the greatest criminal empire that Europe, perhaps even the world, had ever seen. Or rather, did not see, for as Drostan's power grew, as did A.R.E.S. Advantaged by secret support and funding via the Syndicate, A.R.E.S had grown to become one of Europe's premier weapons and energy development mega-corporations, rivalling industrial giants the likes of RIG and EldSok. It was also during this time that Drostan finally focused on trying to discover who exactly the mysterious entity which had saved his life was, whether he could perhaps claim more of its power for himself. All he could uncover, however, was that the being had spoken some dialect similar to Coptic. Yet every now and then, he is haunted with dreams of that same entity, talking to him, showing him images. Well, you couldn't have everything—and for a while, it'd seemed like nothing could depose him.

Betrayel and The Fall
Until, suddenly, he was. In 2018, Drostan received some rather disturbing information—that his personal assassin, someone he considered a brother, had been taking weekly holidays out to some facility he'd helped build for some deal with Kaiser Kola. That he'd been consorting with a test subject there. Threatened, Drostan did the most logical thing anyone would've done—he ordered that Adler cease his activities and, more quietly, that the test subject be disposed of. Simple enough. Evidently, not simple nor subtle enough, for the next thing he knew, Adler had broken into the facility, massacred all the staff, test subject in hand and fled underground. And just to kick it where it hurt, information pertaining to his criminal operations were leaked, the existence of The Syndicate was revealed as was A.R.E.S's link to it.

Suddenly, operations across Europe were being disassembled with violent prejudice by both intelligence agencies and even the bloody League of Twelve! A.R.E.S was put under investigation and stocks plummeted as fast as stone in water. His criminal allies abandoned him left right and centre, using the chaos to claim back their independence.

Luckily, Drostan was able to keep his involvement and very existence for that matter completely secret—as far as the police agencies of the world knew, The Syndicate's supposed shadowy leader, the infamous "Little Lucifer," was still at large. Or, perhaps he was simply a legend, an urban myth created by criminals on the street, and the real ringleaders were either dead, captured or on the run. Either way, Drostan was safe, yet in just a single year, the Empire he'd spent the better of twenty years building up had been toppled.

Rebuilding
Rushing, Drostan reconsolidated what he had left; his stranglehold in the British Isles. Luckily, there were still enough of his assets that he was capable of somewhat rebuilding, regaining a small bit of prestige and power yet nothing in comparison to what he once had. Rebuilding a respectable power base in Britain, he then went to save what remained of A.R.E.S. Through a bit of bribing, scapegoating, administrative rearrangement and blackmailing of certain authorities, A.R.E.S, though significantly mauled, survived. Identified as once again "clean" by the governments of Europe, A.R.E.S began steadily rebuilding, its advanced weapons and energy technology still being at the forefront of Europe, albeit with resources and investors scarce due to scrutiny from the past scandal.

Nevertheless, Drostan, though politically and economically weakened, had survived. His influence, his organisation, at least some small pieces of it, survived. Now, with his position in Britain cemented and no longer under as much threat as it once was, he once more looked outward. Going undercover as an employee of C.E.T.O, the only subsidiary of A.R.E.S which had managed to gain a foothold in America, he hopes to once more rebuild his criminal empire, this time in the new world. And, perhaps, find those who had wronged him and show them the same courtesy they had afforded him.

To burn down everything they care for and have them watch.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
Name: Ulysses Stone (1741-1812, 1877-Present), Gotthard, Sword of Barbarossa (1131-1195), Diomedes (???-???)
Aliases: One
Gender: Male
Age: >6000
Appearance:
Ulysses Stone is a somewhat average looking man based on his silhouette, at 6'0 and 179 pounds. However a more detailed examination reveals a man who's skin has long since become a tangled web of scar tissue. He has no hair, and his eyes are a rather brilliant blue, which are usually the only features visible to the public, as he usually wears bandages across his body from head to toe below his standard clothing. He will usually wear a tactical vest with various smaller tools, ammo, medical supplies, and and scripture from from various religions.

Motivations
Goals: Redeem himself.
Fears: That his powers indicate he is without a soul.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Magical Curse
Powers :
• Marked: One is marked across his body with text and script that has yet to be fully deciphered by modern linguists. This script works as an enchantment, and allows One his incredible resilience. There are two methods of these enchantments to be fueled with energy that keeps One alive: For every strike done against him, most of the damage it does is simply absorbed by these enchantments; and being in the presence of human corpses. These are the methods that increase his strength, speed, lifespan, and healing. These markings also induce a sense of uncanny revulsion and dread upon the unprepared. Should this script contain enough energy upon One's death, he will be resurrected in the form he was when he had the script added, this change occurs with an almost physics defying amount of heat and reform him down to the base atoms.

As of current, One's maximum lifting strength is 18 tonnes, striking strength is enough to breach 20mm of steel sheet metal, running speed is 52 km/h.

Abilities:
Dead Linguist: As a result of his ancient age, One knows at least a little of every known language to grace this Earth, including long since dead languages, and even some magical scripts.
Martial Master: One, much to his chagrin, has nothing but time left for him, and with that time he has spent centuries mastering nearly every martial art known to man. From his fists to the mightiest of hammers, if it is a weapon, One knows - at this point almost instinctively- how to use it.
Equipment:
A single Ruger GP100 with associated ammunition.
Weaknesses:
A Curse Upon the Earth: One's enchantment prevents him from touching plant matter, not by any physical means, but rather because physical contact with a plant immediately wilts it and sets it in to an advanced stage of decomposition. The soil where he treads barefoot is similarly sapped of it's ability to bear any life for a decade following. As such, his diet, both from this and his own dietary restrictions, means he has a limited selection of meats and supplements to choose from.

Background:
Job: Teacher
Legal Status: American Citizen, Honorary Chinese and EU citizen. Founding member of the League of Twelve
Backstory:
In a time long past, there was a tale of a king, a hero, and a beast of both bull and man. Yet this beast was not as it appeared, a warlike, savage, and sadistic man, the absolute worst of humanity. This man, who wore the head of the beast was slain, cornered in a maze by a hero who was, smarter, faster, and more deadly than he. Yet, this was not his end. Athena, goddess of warfare, craftsmanship, and most important of this case: wisdom. The bridler gave the man an option, "Be rent from body and soul and spend your eternity in Hades, or be granted the gift of my teachings, through the means you desire deepest of all". The man, brutal as he was, saw the obvious choice and took it. At first, he thought nothing of it, he would continue on his life, as he saw fit. Then, as swiftly as time came, it passed, the man started to decay into the body of an aging and weary old man, eventually, his body could take no more, and the feeling of death overtook him, yet Athena had given him a promise, and so, with the force and fire of a phoenix, the searing pain of a billion stars shattered his form, reshaping it to what he had been when he was young. And once again, he lived.

This cycle would continued again and again, until eventually, his native Minos ceased to be, and in the depth of agony and despair, he cried out to Athena "Why? Why have you tricked me so!? You said you would teach me, not leave me to suffer like this!"

There was silence, as rain battered down on the docks of a ruined city, until the rained ceased, and the voice of the goddess spoke to him, "You were told of what you would get. Be taught my teachings through means you desire deepest of all. You desired to kill, for the death of others. Now you shall learn of the horrors you inflicted through all time. So long as warriors die, you so shall live. Live to learn all that can be taught, so you The Phoenix, shall be the wisest of my champions, past, present, and future." And so swiftly had the rain stopped, did it begin. And so the man cried out in horror, of the trap he had so naively walked in to.

The man would cease such ways of violence, for a very long time, yet despite his aversion to violence, his cycles continued, the burning, soul crushing feeling of being revived, again, and again, and again. Even upon his own blade, upon the blade of others, he would revive to continue the cycle of reincarnation. Eventually he gave up, found himself a forest and laid there, waiting until he died, ad infinitum, until he would find preferable torture in hades where he belonged. This would go on for a great many cycles, until he once again heard the voice that beleaguered him so. "And so you waste the lives of so many others. As you do as a mortal, you do as an immortal. You have yet to learn it's value."

The man, in a rage sat up with what little energy he had and screamed, "I have done nothing to harm another man in centuries gone! I have learned my lesson, lives are sacred, I know now not to throw them away, so why do you continue to torment me so!?"

There was nothing for some time as the man sat alone, sobbing at his misfortune, before the goddess once again spoke to him, "You say you know lives are sacred, but the lives of many a warrior now lay with you. You harness the energies of the dead, and you squander it by laying among trees and staring at Helios until you are blind. You say you know the value of lives, yet you do not know the value of living." In a confused daze, the man sat until the next cycle, before he went to the nearest settlement, and sought out how to spend the life he was currently living the best he could. And so, his first lesson was learned: The value of living.

Over the next thousand years, the man would live his life to the fullest he could, helping others, acting in politics, aiming to make the various Achaean city states of Greece as best as can be. Yet it was ultimately, not enough. The Achaen states went to war with Troy, many battles were fought, many men died, including the man of this tale. yet he always returned, under a different name, in a different formation, in a different side. Eventually, he found the name Diomedes, weaving a tale of life and birth convincing enough, that it would confound later scholars into believing falsehoods. He would serve alongside heroes for a long time, his pact with himself and Athena reaching no other gods, he was left to contend with their fury on his own. Yet, he too would eventually pass, far away and in a forest, like many time before.

Upon awaking, he was once again visited by Athena, who had arrived in full regalia and in person, "Why was it, despite your aversion to death, and the curse you know, you decide to once again kill your fellow men?"

The man did not respond, at least, not at first, for he did not know wholly why he had gone to war as he did, "When I thought of it, I did not wish to kill any longer, I had hoped for the longest of times that, perhaps I was aiding the world in becoming better. But it called to me in a way that I did not initially understand, I thought at first, that it was a beast within me trying to break free... but I know now. I did so, in the hopes that, through my actions, fewer would die by my hands, than would die were I not there." He would receiver no answer, instead, upon looking around him, he would see no other figure in the clearing, only himself. And so, his second lesson was learned: The value of lives.

He would not see Athena for numerous years, and even then only slight prophecies in dreams, through the proxy of other champions of other gods and goddesses, Apollo, Zeus, Thor, Anubis, they all had their own champions, yet none so old as The Phoenix. It would be centuries, millenia even until the man had switched whole continents, whole cultures, and name after name, from Judea to Silla. He would wander without interruption for nearly a thousand years.

He would, by pure chance, manage to bumble himself in to the court of Frederick Barbarossa, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. He managed to find himself as one of the Emperor's generals, serving in a faithful and comparatively bloodless manner compared to his peers. He became a good friend of the Emperor, and became privy to a number of his secrets, secrets that, with time, became Barbarossa's downfall. Over the years, the Emperor's demeanour changed, he became reclusive, started performing acts that were almost nonsensical. Eventually, time came for the Holy Roman Empire to be called on Crusade... and this is when The Man decided enough was enough. A short trip down to the river to go for a swim in the blistering Asia Minor heat, and the weakened and aging Barbarossa was too fatigued to resist when a boot held him under the water.

Some time later, after passing off the man's death as a simple accident, he would be visited again by Athena, for the first time in almost a thousand years. At his bedside, she spoke to him as he jumped awake, "You have killed a close friend of yours when, of all things he could have used your help. Have you forgotten your previous lessons, or is there more to this?"

For a time, the man thought, "As before, I figured I would be doing a better service to the world by killing a close friend than letting him live. He was not right, he was changing in to a madman and with the power he wielded, that would have been a disaster to so many."

Athena spoke again, "Do you regret killing him?"

The man shook his head half way before pausing and thinking, "I do not regret the act of killing him, simply the fact that I had no other option presented to me." After that, the room was silent, and so the man learned the value of killing.

A few more centuries, and the man would grow tired of the old world, and in the early 1700s would cross the Atlantic to Massachusetts. After a few decades in the continent, one of the friends he had gained got in to a bit of a tizzy regarding taxation and elected to throw tea in to the ocean. And so The Man was somewhat unceremoniously roped in to the Sons of Liberty, and after that, ended up becoming a Colonel in the Continental Army. The scarred man would survive the war for independence, passing 'naturally' after wandering in to a forest aimlessly after hearing the declaration of war on Britain in 1812.

The Man would remain in America for some time, becoming a butcher in Lower Manhattan until the civil war, when he enlisted with the Union Army, like he had before. He would proceed to fight in the Atlanta Campaign and the subsequent march to the sea, and then north in to the Carolinas. After the war ended, he would all but fade in to the Southwest, becoming one of many gunslingers in local legend. Time would continue to pass, and The Man would once again be called in to war.

On the western front, his secret would at last be revealed, and his name cemented in to legal paperwork as he was pressed in to service with a government that didn't truly understand him. Pokes, prods, examinations, and borderline torture. For nearly 30 years, had the man's temper not have faded in his millennia of life, he may have grown a degree of hatred for the people who did this and allowed it, He would tell them this legend, and said it was he. But to the researchers... there was no way for certain to know if this was the truth.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
Name: Dr. Anthony Ulysses Cross, MS, PhD
Aliases: Nexus
Gender: Male
Age: 49
Appearance:
Standing at a remarkable 6'5, Anthony Cross is what many would consider tall, his frame is topped with an angular face, well hidden behind a full beard. Wispy, combed back brown hair and intelligent hazel eyes adorn this head, summing up an above average man with a remarkably average appearance. Beneath clothing is a man who regularly makes an attempt to keep himself healthy, not extraordinarily fit, but enough not to have much notable fat.

Motivations
Goals: Prevent the coming transhumanist plunge into a further class and social divide. Aid humanity in uplifting itself into a naively bright yet still attainable future. Solve the sudden and inevitable divide between base humans, transhumans, and metahumans.
Fears: Fireworks, Cats, Chryslers.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Biological Mutation
Powers :
Hypercorticosis: While Anthony is the sole individual who is aware of his condition, he is still capable of using it without public concern. Hypercorticosis is the condition when one's brain has a exceeding amount of cortical sulci and gyri, and as such a much higher surface area. This differs from Polymicrogyria in the fact that, while excessive in number, all sulci are of fully developed depth, and the gyri are not fused. This results in a much higher capacity for information retention, processing power, and capacity for knowledge. While unknown to him, his peers, and his teachers in his youth, Anthony can now simply pass it off as being mentally gifted.
Abilities:
Omnidisciplinary Scientist: Of two Bachelor's Degrees (World History, Chemical Engineering), three Masters degrees (Biomedical Engineering, Psychology, and Business Administration) and two Doctorates (Computer and Electrical Engineering) under his belt, four of those degrees are in engineering fields. With plenty of practical and theoretical work in all four fields, as well as a career and company formed from the basis of such knowledge, it is safe to say that when it comes to technology, Anthony is a valid choice for, at the very least, a second opinion.
Equipment:
• Modified LG G6
• 2017 Bentley Continental GTS
Weaknesses:
Crippled: Cross recovery from the San Andreas incident took the better part of 4 years, only recently being fully discharged. Severe nerve damage which he is still treating and ongoing joint and ligament problems mean the man requires either a wheelchair or a cane and copious amounts of painkillers to walk, he certainly isn't fighting unless he manages to strap himself in to a suit of power armor.

Background:
Job: Majority Shareholder/Executive Chairman/Founder for Epoch LLC., Public Representative for the League of Twelve
Legal Status: US Citizen
Backstory:Anthony was born in Carbon, Texas to a Vietnam War Vet and a Israeli photojournalist, Anthony always had a knack for picking up on things quickly. At an early age, Anthony excelled in academics. At the age of 6 he entered kindergarten, by 8 he'd qualified for highschool. At 10 he passed the entry exam for MIT's engineering department. A rather drastic move across the country gave the boy all he needed to prove he had a steadfast devotion to his education and future. He would graduate from MIT with a Dual PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering at the age of 15, by the time he reached age of majority, he would possess 4 separate academic degrees.

Not too long after his 21st birthday, the young man started an upstart tech company dedicated to machine design. Epoch Industries, a limited liability company which rather swiftly picked up defense contracts for the Air Force. In the decade since, Epoch has grown from a fairly simple tech company to a spearhead in the robotics and artificial intelligence sectors, it's name also dropping the 'industries' to simply become Epoch LLC. Anthony has since been noted to be distinctly aloof with most people he converses with and has come across as rude and narcissistic in interviews, however his acts of philanthropy ranging from new age prosthetic design, to excess donations to medical research groups, have painted him as a polarising man.

In 2007, he and his company would fund the newly founded League of Twelve, which he was a member of. Balancing his time between his company and fighting global terrorism was intercepted by family life, getting married in 2013 to Doctor Elizabeth Clarke.

His near death experience during the San Andreas event didn't do much to change the man's outlook or philosophy, though his efforts in several fields increased, and as he was undergoing treatment, he dictated his company's expansion in to real estate and civil engineering, in an effort to make room in Detroit for the refugees of the disaster.

The man's efforts still haven't waned since, and many are now questioning his goals regarding his almost hyperfixation on the lost American city. Though he remains adamant that there is no underlying intent.

Appearance: 1.72 m, 78 kg, Stocky muscular frame. Tends to wear dark colored form-fitting clothes
Image

Motivations
Goals:A prosperous earth, headed by an enduring western civilization, lead by a united europe, protected by metahumanity, guided from the shadows by EldSök, controlled by her.

Fears: Humanity turning on Metahumanity, Losing her inheritance of EldSök, European nationalism splitting the continent up.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Medical treatment during mothers pregnancy that activated metagenes in the presence of Mountain Hare DNA

Powers:

Physical Capacities:
• Mountain Hare Chimera Physiology: Enhanced sensory abilities similar to that of a Mountain Hare, capable of a top running speed of around 75 kmph and roughly 7 times stronger, more durable than a peak human.
• Total Regeneration: Can gradually regenerate from any injury while awake or asleep.

Chemical Manipulation:
• Is able to manipulate inorganic matter into a variety of compounds and alloys through tactile telekinesis that creates heat and pressure.
• Can convert information from her enhanced senses ins to determine precisely the demine the chemical make up of things she comes in contact with.

Abilities:

• Extensive knowledge of chemistry: Commits a variety of compounds and alloys to memory, including those specifically EldSök produced.
• Incredible Willpower: Has the capacity to and willing to push her mind body to and beyond her limits.
• Athletic Survivor: Competent in a variety of 'outdoor'' activities, including shooting, climbing, swimming, skiing and general survivalism.
• Excellent Stand-up fighter: Very good at close quarters combat while standing upright.

Equipment:

• Gloves: Since she can only manipulate inorganic matter, she wears specially made gloves that allow her to harm foes by applying heat and pressure through her gloves.
• Jump Boots: Heat resistant and durable boots that use proprietary Eldsök technology to create temporary pockets of plasma that she can 'jump' off to change direction in mid air. Also serve a function similar to her gloves.

Weaknesses:

• Chemistry Manipulation limits: Can't manipulate living matter chemically. In combat she usually heats up her gloves and boots, but is limited to what they can withstand without falling apart.
• Momentum Fighter: Is most effective when in constant movement around a foe, gets frustrated and makes mistakes when restricted. Even her grappling is focused on tossing foes or leaving them vulnerable for rapid strikes rather than lengthy submissions, has difficulty when pulled to the ground.
• Regeneration Limits: Will not regenerate if suddenly loses consciousness, may require medical attention to avoid dying before sufficiently regenerated.

Background:
Job: Heiress of the EldSök Foundation, Field Commander and CEO for the metahuman division of EldSök's private military company, Sagodjur.

Legal Status: Swedish Citizen

Backstory:

Emeliana Ayelech Rahel-Sundberg, or EARS, was born to Daniel Sundberg and Wagaye Rahel, July 30th, 1995 and is, currently the heiress to the multi-billion dollar EldSök Foundation. From an early age, she was sent to a secret metahuman boarding school operated under a public-private partnership between EldSök and the Swedish government. At the start she was timid and permissive, generally unwilling to cause a stir, even as classmates would constantly touch and play with her stand out hare-like ears. Gustav Sundberg, her uncle and head of the school, took note of her impressive abilities and grew frustrated by the passive attitude he felt that his brother was 'ruining' Emeliana with. He personally tutored her and taught her to never tolerate others messing with her, indirectly implying that they should be 'punished' for it.

Emeliana would begin to stand up for herself, but also ended up enjoying being frightening to her peers. It wasn't long before Emeliana went from being bullied to being a bully. the timidity that had once been a part of her all but evaporated and was replaced with new purpose and dreams, which she felt reflected a synthesis of her fathers ideals hardened by her mentor uncle's practicality. Soon after graduating from ETH Zurich, having focused on biochemistry and receiving a Ph.d, she was given a role as an interim director for EldSök's Marviken Facility. Originally she was seen by those that worked there as a nepotism appointment, but they soon recognized her competence. While being there, she managed to use the opportunity to enhance her metahuman powers, she wanted powers beyond physical strength and speed. She managed to get use an experimental machine, the Ödetsverktyg to modify herself after first testing it on another chimera that she had employed. In doing this, she gave herself the ability's to manipulate the chemical structure of inorganic materials by applying fields of heat and pressure through them. Satisfied, she found and recommended a suitable permanent new director for Marviken from within the facility after finally convincing her father to put her in charge of the metahuman division Private Military Company meant to help protect their international assets in addition to contracting with both the European Union and Interpol. Today, EARS is highly motivated and maintains a paternalistic view of non-metahumans and belief in the need for a 'siblinghood' of metahumanity to guide them. Sagodjur has effectively grown to absorb the organization it was a part of and now answers directly to the Eldsök Foundation, or it would were it not for the independence EARS has carved out for it.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
Name: William Hargreaves Brookes
Aliases: N/A
Gender: Male
Age: 32
Appearance:
Image (1.82m, 78Kg)

Motivations
Goals: William constantly seeks to avoid the growing control of State agencies over metas and magic users, while also looking out to raise a better prepared generation of mages.
Fears: The death - or worse - of his sister, one of the few relatives he nurtures a good relationship with.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Magic.
Powers :
• Runes & Sigils:
William's runes compose up a significant part of his arsenal. Etched in circles or brought to reality by the use of magic, they are the rice and beans of his trade. It is through them that his magic manifests into reality, which allows him to perform feats of pyromancy, for example, along with elemental magic, or cast/do protective circles, banishment spells, etc.
• Astral Projection:
Through meditation, William can cast an astral version of himself while his physical body "faints".
• Exorcism:
Dealing with demons or beings that can possess bodies gave William the abilities to practice exorcism, with harder foes requiring a bigger amount of concentration and sometimes, rituals.
• Illusion Casting:
Noises, growls, lights, beings... Name it and William will probably be able to cast it. The size of the illusion will determine the cost and exhaustion caused to William.
• Magical Awareness:
Obviously, William knows that Magic exists, and can sense it from artifacts, other dimensions and casters.
• Divination and Scrying:
Quote the Britannica:

"the practice of determining the hidden significance or cause of events, sometimes foretelling the future, by various natural, psychological, and other techniques", the art of Divination is one practiced by William Brookes to gain insight on the events he's placed in, or events to come when his gut tells him that a certain event. Scrying, however, follows a similar pattern, but it's mostly used in the search of locations, artifacts and people's tracks.
Abilities:
• Multilingualism:

Throughout the years of his formal education, William learned German, French, Spanish and Latin.
• Occultism:

William's extensive work and research on the occult turned him into one of the heavyweights of the magical underworld. Even if he's a human who so far managed to stay away from pacts or the constant use of artifacts. Arguably one of the few humans that are located in the upper echelon of the magical class, it is his knowledge and talent that allow him to recognize works of magic, witchcraft and the ones that are faking it for their own gains. His knowledge of the occult places him in "to be watched" and "to be called in emergencies" list, even if people avoid working with him.
• Formal Education:

Even if the looks and the places he likes might deceive you, Brookes managed to successfully graduate in Psychology in his early adult years, while also being able to speak/comprehend the previously mentioned languages. Despite denying it vehemently - be it for an act, be it for avoiding being labeled - William tries to maintain the same level of scholarship for magic and mundane affairs, pursuing other fields of study through his college years (such as History and Literature).
• Slight of Hand:

Sometimes it isn't magic. It's just the skill, you see?
• Investigation:

Even if his formal education isn't spectacular compared to other heroes, William possesses a deductive capability that is often envied and praised by his peers. Working as a detective for mundane and supernatural causes alike, his skills are kept sharp by the demands of his job. After all, sometimes a missing girl isn't involved in some shady dark cult.
• Escapology:

Part of his stage acts from his dog days, it gave him the ability to pick locks, work escape methods, get himself free from restraining shirts.
• Con-man:

Despite hardly making a living as a con-man (but is capable of doing so),William's main skill is his cunning, the active play with words, the trickery that slips right under the noses of his foes.
• Underground Knowledge and Connections:

Through his years of magical formation, Brookes used his magical talent to enter the secret magical dens, the information brokers, the ones who sold rare magical reagents, artifacts and books. It's this access to an extensive network of information and people (do note that Brookes isn't a boss of these said people, and might be forced to do tasks or tricks to gain said favours) that often makes Brookes a valuable person to know. Friends in low places, if you get the metaphor.
Equipment:
• Briefcase:

William's case is packed with magical and non-magical items.
• Magical paraphernalia:

Throughout his years of work, William has either collected or crafted magical artifacts with different purposes, and can apply them according to the mission if he, obviously, gets them first.

Weaknesses:
Oh The Humanity:

William is a human. Certainly not a boring or common human, but a human. He gets wounded, his bones break, he doesn't swim like a dolphin or fly like a bullet. Not exactly the most competent fighter too, being able to only throw a few punches here and there.

Background:
Job: William also works as a private investigator for non-magical affairs.
Legal Status: English Citizen, UNMAO "Associate", Independent Agent
Backstory:

Born in London, during the year of 1990, William is a twin to Alice Brookes, both were raised - at least during their childhoods - in a normal manner. Their parents, Josephine and Wesley, made sure to raise the couple of twins with the best possible education, even keeping up with William's somewhat natural talent for events whose explanation were quite difficult.

An uneventful childhood, marked mostly by William's aptitude to quickly acquire knowledge, was interrupted by the events of 2003. At the start of his teenage years, Crimson Raven's intervention was broadcasted to the entire world, publicizing the existence of those whose abilities were beyond fantasy. As the decade went by, William's family saw the decay of the somewhat healthy environment to one who lead the future mage away from their daily life. The tones of conspiracy, constant suspicion towards what would be the "new" World Order. The formation of groups made up by incredible men and women held the world in awe, at the same time it inspired a deal of conservatism inside the Brookes' household.

Spending his teenage years researching the reason behind his "talents" for uncommon events. His recklessness and willingness to go the extra mile, along with the not so Christian use of his education placed William as an uprising figure at the London underground magical community as he reached adulthood. Living a double life, William successfully managed to attain a degree in Psychology, merging the formal education with his magical trade as a way to probably discern what was mundane and what wasn't.

Across the years, some of William's allegiances lived longer than others, but all of them eventually came to an end. Be it for his need to work alone once again or the unwillingness to commit to a group ideal, his reputation is a mixed one: he can certainly take up problems that others won't, but he will most likely hide part of his reasons for accepting it.

The second decade of the 21st century would lead William closer to the UNMAO: indicated by one of his former peers as a consultant, he tagged along when the UNMAO needed his expertise to dismantle a magic cult. Despite the offer to stay as a full time hero, William promptly declined, even if the possibility of work was left out open.

However, the initiative of mandatory registry greatly displeased William. As the future is uncertain, he can only work with the present... which is troublesome and interesting as magic was when he first started to study it.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description

Motivations
Goals: Outwardly just to have a legal job where she can use her unique skills and abilities legally and without fear of being ostracised. Also hoping to help any new, young metahumans get accomodated to this scary world of having powers.
Fears: Being called out for being a freak. Being locked up for inhuman experimentation.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Meta Gene activated by contact with a Portuguese Man-o-war.
Powers :
• Intangibility - Does what it says it does. By activating this power Vivian is capable of manipulating the electromagnetic force of objects in order to phase through objects and let objects phase through her. Now you could argue that that'd mean that anytime she'd phase out she would just literally sink into the ground and be lost forever. Well, no. Think of her phasing making the world around her become like the sea and she essentially swims through it, capable of controlling whether she goes up or down or straight. Another thing to note is that while phasing she also phases through air and thus can't breathe it, being restricted to the 80 cubic foot diving cylinder she carries with her or holding her breath. Straining her power to its maximum she can go on a 45 minute phase, though it will likely exhaust her for the rest of the day. Otherwise she has about 1 hour of phasings a day if she leaves time inbetween for her body to recover.
Abilities:
• Excellent Athlete
• Excellent Acrobat
• Excellent Swimmer
• Pretty good at CQC
Equipment:
list]
• Modified diving suit - Created as a stopgap solution initially to keep her alive when she couldn't control her powers, the suit has since seen upgrades created in collaboration with TIAMA (and due to Vivian growing attached to the thing). The first and most important of said upgrades becoming rather than keeping Vivian contained during a phase, it'd phase with her, together with all its contents, allowing her to actually utilize it. Is somewhat armoured though most spots won't protect from guns and there are plenty of spots where regular slicing weapons can get through. Generally think of it as metal = bulletproof for regular small arms, leather = cut resistant for regular types of sharp weapons (you know, knives), white = unprotected. Also inclubes an 80 cubic foot diving cylinder with a pressurized gas mixture to allow Vivian to breathe even through extended phasings.
• Harpoon launcher with attached wire to retract the harpoon/let Vivian reach spots she otherwise couldn't. Range is at roughly 10 meters. Wire can be removed.
• Drill. Self explanatory.
Weaknesses:
• Zinc gluconate - it's not known why this is so, possibl due to a mutation or something in the meta gene brought on by the shock from the Portuguese Man-o-War but contact with zinc gluconate immediately and painfully rips Vivian out of her phasing and makes it impossible to phase again for the next 5 minutes as Vivian has to recuperate from that shock.
• Magic is a very consistent blocker for her phasing ability.
• Rematerializing - this is an obvious one and probably not exactly a weakness either but I feel it's important to note. Rematerializing inside solid objects can kill her.
• Electromagnetic Interference - Electromagnetic Interference caused by ionizing radiation or magnets will interfere with her power to varying degrees based on the strength of the electromagnetic interference put out by them. So for example some close range radiation rays will rematerialize her instantly and a strong magnet in a wall will make her bonk against the wall but the nuclear reactor several concrete walls away or the cheap kids magazine magnet pushed through her immaterial body will do little more than give her nausea.
Background:
Job: UNMAO Associate
Legal Status: British Citizen
Backstory:
Vivian was born in Cornwall, UK, to Arthur and Lucy Thorne, an aging couple of former London Bankers who had made enough money for themselves to head into an early retirement in the beautiful british countryside and raise a child of their own. As such Vivian experienced loving parents and beautiful, healthy countryside early on in her life and never had need for anything. Untill one fateful vacation to the Bahamas in 2011.

Little Vivian was swimming all alone in the sea when suddenly she received an extreme shock, having had the immensely bad luck of becoming victim to a Portuguese Man-o-War, the beach being closed shortly after. Her father immediately came to her rescue and pulled her out of the sea but the damage was done. She was a young child and Man-o-War poison was potent. Very much so...but to her great luck a great deal of the poison was apparently rerouted or neutralized, causing her dormant meta gene to activate and go...haywire. To her own great luck this happened only a bit later, while she was in hospital care and being treated with zinc gluconate for if that hadn't been the case, she likely would've died that very day, not from the poison but from sinking straight into the ground untill randomly rematerializing. Still, it was excrutiating, with her body reacting very poorly to the zinc gluconate.

Neither of her parents were thrilled with what was going on and soon commissioned a metahuman expert, the likes of which started popping up everywhere after the masquerade was cast down, to examine their daughter and see what was wrong. The expert was...well...not the best but he gave them some advice, among others to seek out more official organisations with vaster resources. He did however note that she seemed incapable of phasing through magic, whether these were enchanted objects or literally spells cast at her or at something else. According to that her parents tried to find something magical to put her daughter in so she didn't one day wake up cut in half by her own bed. Well, they eventually managed to acquire what appeared to be an antique diving suit, said to have certain magical properties. None that they were able to properly observe of course, perhaps it was just a slight good luck charm for a diver or a shark repellant or something of the sort.

Either way, it worked for young Vivian, though she could hardly move the heavy suit. However, problems kept piling up. For example the fact that she could suffocate inside the suit, being phased out inside the suit and unable to breathe the air which would just phase through her. It'd take frantic banging and waving and a stock of the painful zinc gluconate next to her for her to be able to stay alive.

In the end the parents agreed that it was for the best if their daughter was given into the hands of professionals, such at the at the time existing UNMAO. They paid some bills, smeared some gears and brought her daughter over into the new world to attend the UNMAO Academy in Winnipeg. There her powers would be further analyzed before she was being taught how to properly control them while a drunk small man from UNMAO's support division took to improving her suit a little, making it lighter as well as function more like a conductor for her ability, allowing her to phase together with her suit and the attached air tanks.

Despite an ocean now separating them, Vivian stayed in close contact with her parents and they with her, showering her with luck and well wishes and she reporting back to them on how she was doing, if she was getting any friends and so on. In 2018, 7 years after her unfortunate accident, Vivian graduated from Winnipeg, finally able to control her powers. However, she would deny employment with UNMAO, instead returning to the UK where she hoped to live the normal life that had been stolen from her.

That all changed when tragedy befell the US in 2019 in a sizeable portion of California simply disappeared. The metaphorical tremors of it could be felt around the world as it was truly realised just how dangerous uncontrolled metahumans could be. Before long, Vivian would face intensive bullying and would be fired from her job. With the job market anything but filled for her kind, she'd move to live with her caring parents, reviewing footage of the disaster and riots across the world.

She soon realised that for her and everyone else's safety, she'd have to do what she had been trained to do in Winnipeg. Apply her powers in order to help prevent another such catastrophe. It'd put her out if harm's way, it'd remove some heat from her parents if she performed well and most importantly of all...metahuman crime would hopefully be lowered.

Joining UNMAO in 2020, Ghostdiver wiuod establish herself as a capable field operative who'd sometimes get into problems with her teammates due to her sardonic nature, but would otherwise show a decent track record.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
Name: Virginia Corbin.
Aliases: Nox.
Gender: Female.
Age: 21.
Appearance: Here. Well above average height for her age, standing at 6', with a generally athletic build, both Nox's eyes and hair colour are "natural", being results of the experiments she was exposed to. Most of the time she's wearing the full bodysuit pictured, though it lacks the angel-style flared sleeves, with the sleeves ending at her elbows instead. The suit has built in boots. Her fingers are usually tipped in darkness, and the more extensively she uses her powers, the darkness envelops more of her person, starting with her hands and going up her arms, and burns as it does.

Motivations
Goals: Virginia's goals can be best defined as two-fold - personal goals, and professional goals. Personally, she wants to solve the mystery about what happened to her family, including her missing twin sister and her father, a humiliated scientist. Professionally, she wants to get as far up the US DMA ladder as she can go. During her time in the Academy, she became impressed with Anthony Cross' achievements, and her naturally ambitious nature translated into a drive for success in the most obvious path forward. Often she finds that her personal and professional goals intertwine and obstruct one another.
Fears: Nox tends to be relatively agoraphobic, preferring cramped, dark spaces. Her agoraphobia isn't necessarily crippling, however. She also fears personal failure, and, ironically, is uncomfortable with the idea of the unknown.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Her source of power comes from a failed, off-the-books scientific experiment that she unknowingly participated in as a child.
Powers :
• Darkness Absorption: Nox's body works like a battery, but with darkness. By siphoning shadows and darkness from places that lack light, she can then store that energy and use it for other purposes. Once the energy is siphoned, the shadow or darkness temporarily disappears, but is gradually replaced. However, once replaced, the subsequent darkness isn't nearly as useful for absorption. For example, if sitting in an entirely dark room, Nox can absorb that room's energy. The room will temporarily turn bright, before settling back into darkness. The subsequent darkness cannot then be absorbed. However, if one were to turn the lights on and then off again, that "resets" the darkness and it can be absorbed again. The general idea is that her source of darkness is theoretically infinite but practically limited.
• Darkness Manipulation: Once having absorbed the energy, Nox can then repurpose it in a number of ways. She can make solid objects out of it, in imitation of things that she has seen before. This can include simple weapons such as a spear or a shield. Generally, complex items cannot be conjured or imitated (i.e, a key to a specific lock). She can also conjure solid bolts of darkness from her palms that act as ranged weapons. In terms of appearance, all items and bolts conjured look akin to Vantablack, and in terms of hardness it's comparable to tungsten but can still be shattered if sufficient force is applied. Once shattered, the darkness cannot be recycled. She can also create areas of shadows or darkness as well.
• Shadow Travel: Nox can meld into the shadows almost completely, and travel between patches of darkness. She can do this with both natural and "repurposed" (absorbed) darkness, but with a few caveats. With natural darkness, she can "melt" into it and travel within the shadow, so long as it's interconnected. The latter transportation , through projected darkness, can be unpredictable at best, and downright disastrous at worst, accelerating the Slow Burn exponentially. Further, it requires two "portals" of substantial darkness to be placed within Nox's sight. They act as a two-way portal for just herself, though the longer they remain open, the more the Burn grows.
• Night Vision: She can see perfectly fine, as if it was day, even in the darkest conditions.
Abilities: None particularly.
Equipment: Not really anything I can think of. Most of her capabilities are based in her powers, not any special equipment.
Weaknesses:
• The Slow Burn: This is Nox's term for the severe physical side effect of prolonged used of her powers. Always present in her finger tips, a physical manifestation of the darkness that she wields begins to slowly creep up her arms the longer and more intensively she uses her powers. This darkness creates a sensation of extreme pain - akin to intense burns. When not using them, the darkness slowly recedes, and recedes at a greater rate the longer she goes without using her powers. A significant amount of her time at the academy was spent harnessing and controlling this pain, but the longer a battle goes on, the less effective she becomes.
• Inexperience: Nox has only recently graduated from the Academy, meaning that she has only some actual experience on missions.
• UV Lighting: When exposed to highly focused UV Lighting (For example, like concentrated UV exposure, something like a beam or a flashlight, rather than the sun's UV rays), all of Nox's darkness creations melt away instantly after exposure, like wet sand. For example, things like begin in the sunlight won't damage her ability to perform, but a focused UV ray would.

Background:
Job: Full-time US DMA Agent.
Legal Status: Technically a citizen of the United States & was, prior to her 18th birthday, a ward of the state.
Backstory: Viriginia Corbin was born one of two twin daughters of Aldous Corbin and Emily Corbin in Montgomery, Alabama. The Corbins were an old American family with military ties dating back to the Mexican-American War. Aldous' father and all male-line descendants were expected to serve in the military in some capacity, with his father serving in WW2 as an NCO, and in Korea as an officer. Aldous, on the other hand, had little interest in the military, much to the chagrin of his father. Instead, Aldous, interested in the sciences, instead wanted to pursue a career in physics. Despite his father's wishes, he eventually eschewed military service and went to college to study physics, where his academic performance was mediocre at best. Despite this, following his graduation, he squeezed by a master's degree but found it difficult to attain employment. His father eventually got in contact with Korea-era contacts, who agreed to hire Aldous Corbin in the military-industrial field. Soon, he found work at Lance Corp., an Alabama-based military tech company where he met his future wife, Emily.

The pair wed some time after Aldous joined the company, in 1989, and soon they became interested in having children. Throughout the 90's, however, the pair continued to busy themselves in work, prioritising their professional lives over their personal. Emily and Aldous began to feel distant, a feeling reinforced by their continual procrastination in starting a family and Aldous' slow spiral into corporate irrelevancy. Throughout the 80's and 90's, Aldous attempted to make a name for himself in the company by pioneering innovating technological solutions, but had no success. In the 90's he became obsessed with weaponising laser defense technology, and studied the Kapitsa-Dirac effect extensively, thinking that it could hold a secret for making irrelevant new laser weapons.

In 2001, despite Aldous' personal failures, the couple finally had children - twins, Virginia and her sister. Their birth did little to assuage the failing marriage. Emily continued to succeed at Lance while Aldous did the opposite. By the time the children were four, in 2005, Emily officially filed for divorce. Aldous, not wanting to admit that his personal life was as failed as his professional, fled with his two children. They went up the East Coast, where Aldous assumed a fake name and continued his work despite his official status as a fugitive. Increasingly unhinged, Aldous began to believe that if he had success with his hypothesis regarding Kapitsa-Dirac, he could resume what his life once was. Working out of an abandoned warehouse, he assembled a slipshod device that was meant to divert a harmful laser from one's person, scattering the particles away from the beam's target.

Believing that it was ready for testing, but knowing that he would have to operate the test, he chose his two daughters, each four years old, to be his test subjects. The laser he used, jury-rigged from parts stolen from Lance Corp., met the device that he attached to his two daughters. There was a misfire, however, and the warehouse was rocked with an explosion. When four-year-old Virginia came too, she was being rescued by first responders, and both her father and sister were nowhere to be seen. Following this incident, the young child began exhibiting her nascent superpowers after being reunited with her mother. However, following a trip to Europe she disappeared, and with Virginia's maternal grandparents dead, her paternal grandparents declared unfit to care for her, she was transferred to the state's responsibility.

From 2006 until 2010, Virginia passed through a number of special care homes, none of them effectively equipped to help her, with the uniqueness of her abilities and situation buried by mountains of bureaucracy and paperwork. In 2010, following the retirement of the Cabal and the creation of the Academy, she was recommended admission, and was one of the first students admitted. From her admittance to her graduation, Virginia performed exceptionally well in both the standard academic criteria and in the power-based classes, making a name for herself as a skilled potential recruit into the Academy. During her early years in the Academy, she became interested in Anthony Cross, the theoretical headmaster of the Academy. She viewed him as a picture of perfect success, and with his involvement in the past and present with the Cabal and US DMA, as someone that she should be looking up to.

Due to some complications with her powers, including their difficulty in sustained use, she required an extra year in the Academy, much to her chagrin. Following her graduation, however, she almost immediately applied to US DMA and was accepted as a junior agent. Since then, she's become relatively restless waiting to actually be brought along.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
Name: Elizabeth Corbin.
Aliases: Lux.
Gender: Female.
Age: 21.
Appearance: Here. Well above average height for her age, standing at 6', in her costume she's about 6'5, and has a generally athletic build. When her powers are active, Lux's eyes burn a bright yellow. Both Lux's eyes and hair colour are "natural", being results of the experiments she was exposed to. Like her twin, with prolonged use of her powers, a white-hot flame-like substance spreads along her arms that burns her.

Motivations
Goals:
• Avenge the slights, perceived or real, against her by her father and the military-industrial complex.
• Find out what happened to the rest of her family.
• Ensure financial stability for herself in the long-run.
Fears:
• She is generally pretty uncomfortable in tight places, bordering on claustrophobia.
• Feeling unfulfilled. Much of what keeps Lux going is her need to attain information and revenge. She worries that she may be unable to do or reasonably attain either.
• Being rejected by any ostensibly-surviving family other than her father.
• Having her secret motivations found out by her father and Erikson Global.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Like Nox, Lux was accidentally exposed to a scientific experiment when she was very young. Unlike Nox, however, she was thought by her father to have survived, and he fled the country with her in tow. Over the years, he has continued to experiment with Lux's powers, often honing and improving them.
Powers :
• Light Absorption: Lux's body works like a battery, but with light. By light from various sources, be they natural or artificial, she can then store that energy and use it for other purposes. Once the energy is siphoned, the light temporarily disappears, but is gradually replaced. However, once replaced, the subsequent light isn't nearly as useful for absorption. For example, if sitting in an entirely bright room, Lux can absorb that room's energy. The room will temporarily turn pitch-dark, before settling back into light. The subsequent light can be reabsorbed, but at a fraction of its previous efficiency. However, if one were to turn the lights on and then off again, that "resets" the light and it can be absorbed again. The general idea is that her source of light is theoretically infinite but practically limited.
• Light Manipulation: Once having absorbed the energy, Lux can then repurpose it in a number of ways. She can make solid objects out of it, in imitation of things that she has seen before. This can include simple weapons such as a spear or a shield. Generally, complex items cannot be conjured or imitated (i.e, a key to a specific lock). She can also conjure solid bolts of light from her palms that act as ranged weapons. Often these manifest as classic "lightning bolts", likely due to some subconscious familiarity of the design. She can also conjure up a steady stream of light energy. In terms of appearance, all items and bolts conjured look akin to extremely bright yellow-white constructs, and in terms of hardness it's comparable to tungsten carbide but can still be shattered if sufficient force is applied. Once shattered, the light cannot be recycled. She can also produce brilliant flashes of blinding light.
• Flight: Lux can directly use her light manipulation powers to propel herself throughout the air. It tends to be highly expensive in terms of both resource use and her overload, however, and generally can only do it for a short period of time. Depending on the speed she is going and how heavy she is (i.e, holding other things or people), it can range between five and fifteen minutes before it becomes untenable.
Abilities:
• Alongside English, she is fluent in French, and can speak decent Swedish.
• Proficiency in Muay Thai Kickboxing.
• Extensive experience in both gymnastics and dance.
• Training and some experience in infiltration techniques, including smuggling herself over lightly-guarded borders and assuming various identities.
Equipment:
• The heels on her boots are made out of cast magnesium alloyed with manganese, scandium, and calcium.
• A pair of fake passports & identities that allow her to travel throughout the EU.
Weaknesses:
• Overloaded: Like her twin, an overuse of her powers comes with drawbacks. Over an extended period of time, white-hot blowback from her powers begins to creep up her arms, beginning with her fingers and moving towards her elbows. The science behind this isn't well-understood, and it's not clear to her handlers if the intense pain that is caused by the overuse of her powers is the result of actual physical pain or an intense mental reaction. Regardless, the pain that is caused by this overuse results in a dissipation of concentration, and a breakdown of her ability to fight reliably. To put it to a comparison, it takes proportionately less time for her pain to kick in and spread compared to Nox, and it recedes slower.
• Infrared Lighting: Her light constructs will break, shatter, and melt away like wet sand when exposed to focused or concentrated infrared rays (For example, like concentrated infrared exposure, something like a beam or a flashlight, rather than natural or cosmic infrared exposure).

Background:
Job: Technically unemployed, but is a shadow contractor for Erikson Global, a shell company of her father's. She also lends her skills out to the highest bidders when she has the time.
Legal Status: She is technically a citizen of the United States, but has been presumed dead for years. She has a number of fake identities and passports, including Marie-Hélène Lavaud of France and Matilda Hjertsson of Sweden. She is also wanted in conjunction with a number of crimes dating back half a decade in France, Spain, Belgium, Luxemburg, and Denmark. However, because of the variable nature of her crimes in the different nations, they have not been traced back to a single individual.
Backstory: Elizabeth Corbin and her twin sister Virginia were born to Aldous and Emily Corbin in 2001. By then, their parents had been married a number of years, and things were already starting to fall apart between the couple. In 2005, when Emily and Virginia were four years old, their mother filed for divorce, leaving Aldous to contemplate both his professional and personal failures. Before she had a chance to legally take the children from him, Aldous fled with the twins to the East Coast, the authorities soon in hot pursuit. Aldous became delusional, and was convinced that if he could prove that his research into energy and light manipulation was fruitful, he could reverse his misfortunes in his career and with his ex-wife.

Aldous was mostly spared from the explosion, and when the dust settled, he noticed that only one of his daughters - Elizabeth - seemed to have survived.

Panicked, and knowing that the warehouse would soon be crawling with police, Aldous fled with his still-living daughter, thinking that Virginia had died in the explosion. Aldous quickly crossed the border into Mexico illegally, where he set himself and his daughter up with fake identities, before covertly travelling to Europe. First Sweden, then France. During this time, Elizabeth's powers began to manifest themselves, at first accidentally. Aldous, convinced that his experiment had borne fruit, became obsessed with his daughter's abilities, and worked with the young child to develop and harness them. For the next nine years, from ages five to fourteen, Elizabeth was raised, parented, and experimented upon by her father. She was homeschooled by the unhinged scientist, who, all the while, funded his experimentations with various illicit activities, including narcotics manufacturing and distribution. Aldous' intellect was high, so that despite losing his grip on portions of reality, he was still able to function relatively effectively.

As a child, Elizabeth was socially isolated. She was homeschooled by her father, who brought in various tutors for subjects he was not well-versed in, and taught the girl everything else she needed to know. While she was able to spent time outside and at local parks or playgrounds, she only did so with close supervision from her father, who insisted on accompanying the girl wherever she went for fear of her powers manifesting themselves, either accidentally or on purpose. Elizabeth was taught early that her powers needed to remain secret, and, if they didn't, harsh reprisals would follow. The social issues were generally made worse for Elizabeth as she and her father relocated often throughout France, spending time in Picardy, Brittany, and Dauphine. Thus, most of her social skills remained underdeveloped and tended to model teacher-student or father-daughter relationships, which were the ones that she was familiar with. She lacked any long-term friends, making regular socialization hard for the girl.

Throughout her childhood, Aldous paid for a number of dance and gymnastics lessons for his daughter while they resided in France. The aim of these lessons was to help give Elizabeth an outlet for athletic development and social experience, but because the pair relocated so often, these did not have the intended effect. However, Elizabeth became enamoured with both activities, and often petitioned her father to continue to work at them whenever they relocated. During her upbringing, Aldous maintained a specific filter of information that would be passed down to his daughter, including that her mother had been crazy and, along with Virginia, perished in an accident. He framed the ordeal as if his actions were the only reason that Elizabeth was alive.

During her early teenage years, a rift began to form between Elizabeth and her father, with her realising the extent of her father's behaviour and actions. However, during this time, Aldous' experiments on his daughter intensified and became invasive, including genetic testing and attempts at modifying or refining her powers. Unfortunately for Elizabeth, most of these experiments didn't work and were often very painful.

When she was thirteen, the pair moved to Sweden, where Aldous created the company Erikson Global with money he had saved up from his criminal activities in France. EG, as it was often shortened to, was merely a front for Aldous' renewed interest in military applications for his physics research, most of it done under unethical conditions. Aldous continued to tutor his daughter, and, against his own wishes, ceased experimenting on her in order to repair his relationship with Elizabeth. Three years later, shortly after her sixteenth birthday, Elizabeth was recruited by her father to work for Erikson Global. However, her role was to be a "shadow contractor" of sorts, performing below-board actions.

At this time, the teenaged Elizabeth donned the name Lux as a moniker to protect her identity, and quickly became enamoured by the money that her father was offering her for her work. She was slowly immersed in her father's operations. However, as she worked for his company, she quickly realised that he wasn't exactly who he said he was - his criminal nature became quickly evident, and the relationship between the two deteriorated once again, Lux continuing to work for her father only for the monetary incentives that he offered her. However, during this period, her operations for EG continued, and Aldous considered them field tests of her powers. EG's "Blackwing" Division expanded quickly, and centered around EG's illegal operations throughout Europe. During this time, Elizabeth began studying Muy Thai and was trained to leave minimal amounts of evidence at any crime scene to avoid detection by UNMAO.

As years passed, Aldous grew interested in replicating his daughter's powers so he could market them abroad as a commodity. Worried that this would make her disposable to her father, she flatly rejected his numerous requests. She quickly realised that her father valued her powers more than her - which enraged her. She grew disillusioned with her father's company and the industry that they worked within. However, she kept her disillusionment to herself and continued to work towards self-sufficiency, continuing to get paid by EG. At the same time, she began taking on freelance contracts from outside sources across Europe for "wetwork", and quickly became experienced in a number of criminal operations, including assassination, and intimidation, but also took on jobs that included robbery and corporate espionage.

By 2019, she had formulated the idea that her treatment at the hands of her father was the result of the military-industrial complex and his inability to let go of his life's work. She also has come to believe that, if her father had lied to her about so much, that it's possible her family remains out there. She has long since realised that her childhood was atypical, and the reason that she was essentially railroaded into a life of crime was her father's obsessions. Years of anger and frustration as a result of her ill-treatment has begun to bubble up to her surface, and she has begun planning on how to get her revenge on both her father and the industries that he has become obsessed with.

By 2022, she has begun taking both independent contracts and EG jobs in a bid to increase her net worth and begin putting her plans for revenge in motion. During her four years of operation she has taken a painstaking effort to, when on the job, disguise any potential metahuman involvement in her crimes. Any potential witnesses are silenced, and she tries to leave no evidence at crime scenes, including prints or any sort of DNA. She has become well-aware that UNMAO's presence in Europe would mean that, if they became aware of her and her powers, there's no telling what they'd do if they connected her to the string of crimes that she has committed.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
Name: Olympia Argyros-Smith
Aliases: Achillea
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Appearance: Here. Achillea stands at six feet and five inches and weighs about two hundred and three pounds, with a very muscular, athletic build. Whenever she's not in her costume, she's usually wearing some sort of athletic gear. She also has a tailour-made helmet that she wears while on missions.

Motivations
Goals: Her goals tend to be two-fold: she wants to push herself and maximize her powers as much as possible, and to become the best super hero ever. The latter goal she views as almost a near-obsessive necessity - to her, she's better than everyone around her, and she needs to compensate for everyone's shortcomings by outperforming them.
Fears: Mostly she's afraid of her own limits - not only losing her powers, but also to be seriously injured in a way - especially around her left heel - that would permanently prevent her from doing what she believes she was born to do.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: The suspected reincarnation of Achilles, the figure from Greek legend.
Powers:
• Significantly Increased Damage Resistance & Endurance: Like her namesake and possible ancestor, Achillea is resistant to most forms of damage, be they things like bullets, knives, and even brute force damage. Her skin acts almost like a deterrent to sharp objects or bullets, as if it was a thick hide, causing smaller caliber bullets and duller knives to simply bounce off of it while larger bullets or sharper weapons can penetrate but do much less damage than they would to normal humans. Further, Achillea has an extreme tolerance for pain, often not even noticing certain wounds that would put others out of commission.
• Superhuman Stamina: Be it running farther, fighting longer, or even staying awake for days on end, Achillea does it better than others. Her innate physical stamina is significantly better than anyone else she has been measured against.
• Superhuman Strength: Far from the abilities of other superhumanly-strong individuals in the Academy, while Achillea's strength is classified as "superhuman", it's only so relative to non-metas. She's much stronger than the average person, but compared to other metas, her strength is pretty average. She can lift about one ton's worth of weight, but strains to do so.

Abilities:
• Neo-Pankration: Intentionally choosing a predecessor to MMA instead of MMA itself, she is well versed in the fighting style of the modern Pankration practices.
• Wrestling: Technically different than Neo-Pankration, she is also a champion of wrestling.
• She can speak Ancient Greek and Latin fairly well, though is mostly self-taught.
• Has a very intense regular workout regime that most non-metas would consider extreme.
Equipment:
• An Aspis-styled Shield, shown as it is in her reference photo. The shield is, unlike the traditional Aspis, is not made out of wood. Instead, it is made out of cast magnesium alloyed with manganese, scandium, and calcium. Its edges are dulled, but can still be a potent offensive weapon if necessary.
• A Doru-styled Spear. The spear's tip is incredibly sharp and is made out of cast magnesium alloyed with manganese, scandium, and calcium. The spear's staff is made out of reinforced aluminum.
• A Xiphos-styled Sword, made of the same material as the spear's tip. Like the spear, it is incredibly sharp.
• A full set of armour that emulates the style of the traditional hoplite, including greaves, forearm covers, and a chest plate. All of these are done up in the traditional historical style of the hoplite, though beneath the outward thin layer of metal, most of the armour is made instead of material from stab-proof vests.
• A ballistic vest that she wears under her stab-proof chest plate.
Weaknesses:
• Narcissism & Saviour Complex: Not necessarily a weakness to counter her powers, but a worthwhile inclusion in this section is her general narcissism. Going beyond an obsession with self-image, she often believes that she can do no wrong nor ever has - if something goes wrong, it was someone else's fault. She also believes that it is her responsibility (and thus, her Gods-given mission) to act as a protector for not just the people, but for others in the Academy.
• Achillea's Heel: Like her namesake, her left heel is completely unaffected by her resistance and pain tolerance. If she receives any damage here, while the pain would be similar to a normal person's experience, it would be quite shocking to her.
• Too Angry to Die: Achillea has a physiological/biological reaction to both exerting herself in battle/training as well as when she receives damage. Doctors theorise that this is a side-effect of her body's resistance to damage and lack of pain receptors. When exerting herself, her adrenal glands go into overdrive, producing adrenaline levels far beyond a normal person's. In short, the longer she fights, the angrier she gets. The angrier she gets, the more prone she is to making fatal mistakes. Or worse.
• Double-Edged Pain Tolerance: Achillea feels much less pain than most other people. Coupled with her general resistance to damage, this often works in her favour, combining with her massive stamina to keep her in fights way longer than others could. However, often in the heat of battle she could potentially receive grievous, nearly-mortal wounds and not notice. In short, if she sustains enough damage, there is the potential that she could go beyond what any normal person could survive and not notice until it is too late.

Background:
Job: Full-time member of the academy and meta program.
Legal Status: Born, legal citizen of the United States.
Backstory: It is widely believed by many that the Greek myth of Achilles and his son Neoptolemus was myth - pure legend. Even though the kings of Epirus claimed descent from Achilles, these claims are brushed off by modern historians as not just widely exaggerated, but as entirely fiction. Unbeknownst to these historians, they're wrong. Achilles was indeed a living, breathing person, an icon of Ancient Greek Culture, and an outspoken warrior, protected by "the Gods" and the power of the "River Styx". In reality, it's not known what gave Achilles his powers, but, for whatever reason, they were certainly genetic.

Achilles' descendants ruled Epirus in one for or another until its conquest by the Romans when they scattered throughout Greece and the classical world. Some of these descendants departed to Italy and throughout the Mediterranean, while others remained in Greece or Anatolia, serving the Roman Empire and its Eastern successor state. All throughout these periods, however, obscure records of warriors throughout the Mediterranean, strong beyond belief and nigh-impervious to damage seem to appear and disappear in various historiographies.

Regardless, one n-th generation descendant of Achilles ended up in the United States of America in 1967, following the Regime of the Colonels. This descendant, one Michael Argyros and his wife, ended up moving to Buffalo, New York, and started a business there. One of Michael's sons Stergios Argyros moved to New York City in 1988, where he met Isabella Smith. The two gradually courted one another and married in 1996. During this time Stergios went to law school and eventually became a lawyer while Isabella helped support the two by working as a secretary. They moved to Nyack, NY in 2000, finally buying a house while still both working in NYC. Shortly after, they had a son in 2002 and a daughter, Olympia, in 2006. While their son was timid, reserved, and introverted, their daughter was not. It quickly became obvious that the little Olympia, from the time that she could walk, had a nasty temper. More than that, she could run around all day and night with little regard to her exhaustion levels. Finally, she was massive, significantly larger than any kid her age.

Eventually, worrying for her genetic state, her parents took her to a doctor, who acknowledged the abnormal "mutations" Olympia had experienced, but could not find an answer to them. Eventually, he contacted a number of different specialists, one of them newly-specialized into Meta studies. It wasn't long before her parents were asked to start bringing her by the Academy's offices. By the time she was ten, her temperament, size, and other issues meant that it was hard for her parents to continue to take care of her full-time without treatment. Eventually, when she was eleven, the Academy offered to take full-time care of her. Her parents still visited her while she lived and schooled at the Academy, but it was rare for her to ever spend more than a few hours with her family.

During her time there, she quickly embraced her physical side and becoming incredibly physically imposing, even at a young age. As soon as she could, she began working out in the Academy's gyms, and with training and treatment, was able to harness her anger and her powers. She also became enamoured with her Greek background, and took every opportunity to learn about Ancient Greece despite her very mediocre performance at the Academy's actual academics. She made few friends due to her imposing physical stature and emerging narcissism.

Many were afraid of her temper and her size, some often referring to her as a "ticking time bomb". Despite this, she tried as best she could to socialize with her peers, and the smart students avoided antagonizing her at all costs. Since coming into her own during her teenage years, she has become increasingly interested in trying to push the limits of her abilities to see how far she can go - she trains harder, runs faster, etc. She wants to do good, since she believes it's necessary for her to.

All three are accepted.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
Name: William Hargreaves Brookes
Aliases: N/A
Gender: Male
Age: 32
Appearance:
(Image) (1.82m, 78Kg)

DO NOT REMOVE: 1492

Accepted.

Name: Leane Kopfner
Aliases: Courier
Gender: Female
Age: 20
Appearance:

Motivations
Goals: To find an alternate career outside of corporate office space, To enjoy life, To find the ideal friends and family
Fears: Scared of the dark, betrayal, being taken advantage of.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Magic incantation
Powers : Hammerspace - Her pockets, handbags, suitcases, any sort of container or storage unit affected by this magic spell can hold an indefinite number of items without being burdened by the immense weight. This extends to humans and animals too. However, while she can store an infinite number of bodies in the trunk of a car, she can't do the same with a small plastic container since the opening is much smaller.

Aside from being able to exceed the usual carrying capacity, Leane can also retrieve those items from the pockets with ease. Whatever item she has on her mind, she can reach down into her purse, pocket, bag, etc, and pull it out for use.
Abilities: Secretary - Can organize correspondence and manage work records, whether routine or detailed.
Firearm handling - While shooting guns was always been a hobby of hers, her adventures as a vigilante forced her to learn fast and hard in order to survive.
Melee handling - When not using guns to take down her targets, blades, bludgeons, and hammers would suffice in her hands as proper weapons to kill or wound her opponents.

Equipment: P90, MP5, M3 12 gauge shotgun, Glock 18, a mallet, a hammer, six chef knives, a fire ax, 12 switchblades, a metal baseball bat, a golf club, 800 pistol rounds, and 200 shotgun rounds
Weaknesses: Legality - Her vigilantism is still criminal behavior and if her secret identity is exposed, her future career will be over.
Normal human - There are no special physical or mental enhancements from her power. She will still tire and wear out like any other person.

Background:
Job: An office lady. Despite being a secretary, she is treated as a waitress
Legal Status: Luxembourg citizenship, US Green Card/Naturalization
Backstory: Born at the dawn of the new millennium to a middle-class family, Leane was anything but extraordinary. Even living in a world dominated by superhero culture, her life was relatively mundane during her childhood, into her teen years, and reaching adulthood. Perhaps the only difference was being hired as a clerk in a convenience store as soon as she graduated from high school. Her parents didn’t mind Leane having only a high school diploma to her name and they were certainly quick to let her go free.

Pushed into independence, Leane was on her own in scraping together a living. But events unfolded when the company she worked for got merged under the Kaiser Kola corporation, one of many of the latest expansions to distribute the iconic German soda. She found herself given the position of secretary to one of the mid-level company managers and with it, higher pay and a cleaner workplace. Though, cleaner did not translate better as Leane was rather overwhelmed by how fast her responsibilities expanded. When they’re not getting too touchy towards her, Leane’s coworkers were too wrapped up in their own assignments to assist her in adjusting to the corporate environment.

But the stress did not end there as Leane was given the opportunity to be transferred to work in the US division of Kaiser Kola. Despite not being fluent in English, she half-heartedly accepts. While she heard plenty of stories of American culture, their superheroes, and even the controversies surrounding vigilantism, nothing had prepared her to be granted the boon to become a metahuman herself. All she did was offer a can of cold Kaiser Kola to a thirsty stranger resting under a tree who then ask her if there is a wish she has that he could fulfill. Mishearing the question, Leane replied that she felt burdened by the things life keep throwing at her.

What would’ve been a one-time encounter got her dragged into the world of vigilantism and to make matters worse, Leane was starting to enjoy it. Despite the real fear of getting caught by the authorities, taking down criminals with a knife or gun was quite the stress reliever. Sometimes, she imagined it was her boss that she was slashing with a blade. Perhaps it’s time for a career change.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description

Motivations
Goals: Bring divine retribution to the evil and wicked, ensure peace of Earth
Fears: That all may be for naught, that evil has a stronger hold on the world than he can compete against

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Mutation activated by extreme tortures
Powers : Hardlight: Gabriel is capable of creating hardlight constructs around his fists and upper arms, encasing them in a nigh unbreakable material seemingly forged from light itself. He can transfer the material across his body and use it as a projectile that returns to him.
Healing factor: The hardlight acts not only as a means of pain alleivement, it also assists in a mild healing factor. Minor cuts and bruises hael quickly, however grevious wounds take signifcantly longer to heal, stretching from days to weeks depending on its severity, necessitating bed rest. Much to Azrael's annoyance, it did not cure preexisting conditions, so he's still stuck with his asthma.
Abilities: Multilingual: Gabriel can speak both Latin and Russian, in addition to his native English
Increased strength and stamina: Compensating for the lack of superhuman strength and speed, Azrael is a frequent and dedicated user of the gym, exercising frequently to the point where he his stronger than the average person and can has greater stamina than other. However, he still requires rest like regular people.
Parkour/Freerunning: Gabriel is adept at both parkour and freerunning
Proficient fighter: Gabriel is a proficient hand-to-hand fighter, primarily specialising in boxing/brawling
Equipment: Combat Knife: Exactly what it says on the tin
Holy Water: A small vial that he carries around his neck
Weaknesses:[u[Only Human: Though his stamina is greater than that of a regular human, it is still capable of running out and leaing him exhausted if pushed too far. Likewise, his body is still susceptible to the same injuries as a regular human, skin as pierceable as ever.
The Sabbath: Gabriel doesn't work on Sundays
Defender of the Weak: Seeing his mission as being given to him by God, he is incapable in allowing innocent people to be injured or in danger. Should civilians be in the way or in imminent danger, he'll drop everything to ensure that they are rescued and out of harms way, even if it means allowing his foe to escape.
Asthmatic: Despite his gifts, Gabriel still suffers from asthma. Believing it a remaining challenge from god, he carries an inhaler with him. To be parted from it would place him in serious jeopardy if he exerts himself too much.

Background:
Job: Priest/US DMA Agent
Legal Status: Full American Citizen, clean record
Backstory: Born in Mobile, Alabama to Catholic immigrants from Ireland, Gabriel's life has always been centred on religion. His schooling was based on it, he went to church every Sunday, he refrained from red meat on fridays. All in all, he was virtually indistinguishable from society, with his devoutness being the only stand out feature. Additionally, his father had a notable career in bare-knuckle boxing, and expected his son to follow in his footsteps to a decent degree. He blew through education, attaining decent enough grades to attend university, majoring in Theology and philosophy. He again excelled at university, becoming a vital player on the university's baseball team and a proficient boxer due to the fact he'd grown up.

Graduation didn't cause Gabriel to slow down at all, becoming ordained as a priest within the Catholic church, though he was not issued a herd to shepherd over. It was here that Gabriel began to act out, travelling to dangerous sections of his home state and assisting where he could, even if it went against the orders of his superiors. He even fled abroad on occasions, traveling to warzones to help those affected spiritually and to learn for himself that dangers of mankind and evil. It was during one such excursion that Gabriel was captured by a terrorist faction.

While such an event would be distressing on its own, this particular faction was interested in creating its own meta-human. Having been identified with carrying a gene that enabled meta mutation, he was subjected months under torture, hoping to kickstart it. Eventualy, he was rescued by the League of Twelve, but far too late as the mutation had already taken place, his wounds healing with his new healing factor yet he still remained confined to bed when he returned stateside, constant check ups to ensure his body was adapting well to his new found powers. As he healed, it became apparent that he had no memory of where his powers had originated, nor where he had been for the previous few months. He instead proscribed the powers as a gift from God, ardently believing that he had been put on an ordained task to use it for justice.

Unsure what would happen if they reminded him of how he got his powers, the DMA allowed Gabriel to continue believing this, sending him out on missions as he adapted and became increasingly proficient with the use of his powers, though several file reports have noted his aggression when caught in the midst of fighting and becoming somewhat brutal in his beatings. Deeming it a necessary evil, they continue to utilise Gabriel under the alias of Azrael, the Angel of Death.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
Name: Misha Abakumov
Aliases: Trauma
Gender: Male
Age: 38
Appearance:
They stand at an average 5'10, with an athletic/lean build.

Due to their abilities, they're remarkably young and fresh. With their hair being a white/greyish color. With their eyes being a greyed blue, and their expression never changing.
Face Claim

General Attire (Gun not included)

Motivations
Goals: SERVE. BREAK FREE BREAK FREE BREAK FREE
Fears: NOTHING DRIFTING AWAY

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Genes and forced augmentation.
Powers :
Regenerator: Healing blood abilities once used for medical use in the FSB is now used for self healing. With advanced qualities of wound control, and foreign object removal. With even lethal wounds being rendered non-lethal within minutes, and eventually healing within a day. Another effect of this ability is constant blood production, allowing consistent use of their blood abilities. However, this doesn't mean they can't bleed out. It just makes it a lot more difficult. Headshots and destruction of the heart are still guaranteed ways to kill, and very severe organ damage can be given that even regeneration can't fully stabilize to stop fatality.

Suit and Augmentations: The Russian Government wasted no expense forcibly augmenting trauma with genetic modifications and integration with his advanced suit. With enhanced reflexes, strength, and agility that makes even special forces jealous. With their suit offering advanced HUD and intelligence interfaces that allow coordination and realtime combat order unseen before. Along with allowing enriched breathing to aid with blood flow and alertness. One additional thing with the augmentations and suit, that more benefit the Kremlin than Trauma, is that he is extremely brainwashed. Extremely accepting of commands and able to change within a second's notice. With emotions being extremely dulled, and pain being borderline nonexistent.

Blood Flow: Blood control was heavily augmented to amplify previously shown blood abilities that were once seen as meekling. Now with the ability to use blood injections to outright hijack entire limbs of targets, and even cause significant bodily damage if not death if enough blood is transferred to a target via injections. The catch being well, the effect is only possible if about 1 vial's worth (200 ml) is injected in a normal human bloodstream. Along with the the fact that the dart guns themselves have to function still. Which of course the darts can also be defeated by basic armor. However cloth will not stop these darts.

Make 'Em Bleed: His blood can be outright weaponized. With suit interfaces to draw blood out that can be controlled by him. Total control of blood is there, with it being able to be hardened or specialized in its liquid state. With attacks such as blood spikes, bloody claws, and even acidic blood being possible now. One catch is that once blood is either hardened or acidified, it cannot be repurposed. Hardened blood is also quite brittle, meaning that while it can be used as a weapon quite easily, it can't be used as armor.

Blood Spike: Blood spikes can be utilized as makeshift throwing/melee knives, or as projectiles to be shot via a specialized dart gun his suit utilizes. The effective capability of these is being able to shred through soft body armor easily within a 9 foot range if shot via dart gun.

Bloody Claws: Blood can be pooled around the suit's gloves and hardened into razor sharp weapons that are completely horrifying in close range. With their melee capabilities being equal to the spikes in the ability to shred soft body armor, and flesh.

Acidic Blood: Liquid blood can be made to be heavily acidic before being thrown at an enemy for heavy damage within a short period of time. The effective time of this acidic quality being roughly six seconds. The whole time being that of pure pain comparable to that of hydrochloric acid's effects. However once the six seconds are up the blood instantly becomes a harmless, reddish dust. This can actually be countered with application of water to neutralize the blood immediately.

Abilities:
Russian Training: Trauma's been trained by both the FSB, and SVR RF. Making him very efficient in firearms use and physical conflict. Often coming in play at the flip of a dime due to their brainwashing. Along with espionage and stealth training on top of these to make them extremely formidable on behalf of Russia.

Stealth Capability: Their suit offers rubber dampeners to aid in sound reduction. Making them very capable for stealthy attacks from out of left field.

Voice Modulation: Their suit offers voice disguising through its mask. Though, their higher pitched russian accent is still noticeable.

Medical Training: They were given basic Russian Military first aid training for their time in the FSB.

Equipment:
x1 Suit integrated "dart gun"
x5 Stimulant Pens (Supplies immediate calories and oxygen into their bloodstream for emergencies)
x2 Calorie Ration Packs
x2 Buck 120 Hunting knives with sharpening kits

Weaknesses:

Starved: His blood requires HEAVY caloric intake and conditioned oxygenation in order to operate properly. Without these, he will lose all coordination and be completely out of reality. While he can recover from this after a couple weeks, and return to original abilities of lesser powers. That isn't the time foes will give him. Forcing him to rely on heavy eating, and using his suit's breathing capabilities. With Russian-Made stimulant pens that are supplied to him if in a combat scenario. However, if deprived of these, he can easily suffer the aforementioned effects.

Memory Ping: His brainwashing and augmentation wasn't perfect. With him occasionally having fits of extreme emotion, even in combat, that can completely throw him off. With further threats of impulsive suicidal attempts being a side effect of these random memrep rejection attacks. Some of said suicidal attempts being close to success. With their armor showing clear signs of this near his neck, chest, and helmet areas.

Background:
Job: Full time tool of the SVR RF
Legal Status: Russian Citizen, Illegally in the US under the fake identity Nicholas Davidson
Backstory:

To say Misha Abakumov has had a bad life is an understatement. Born in 1984 during the latter years of the USSR to a mother who died during childbirth, and a father who was high ranking in the KGB. He was very isolated as his father prioritized work over raising Misha by himself. That being until around 1989, when Misha was 5 years old, and found themselves at the receiving end of a truck hitting them head on. Now, for many this would just mark the ending of a tragic death story, but not here. No, Misha survived this accident, and showcased extensive healing in the days following. Catching the eyes of the Soviet Government, and even worse, his Father's attention.

One would think that this led to a happy relationship with his father, but no. It led to forced experimentation on poor Misha at such a young age. Torture, extensive physical testing, and extreme social alienation. Leading to an extremely traumatized young boy once the USSR fell apart. With his father moving into the FSB and other secret russian projects to salvage all the torment that was unleashed in the vain pursuit of utilizing Misha's abilities. With Misha later on being forced into service with the FSB during the late 90's once he reached adulthood. With them also being pressed into performing horrific acts against their will during the Chechen war, and even worse, being forced through worse trials of testing and torture to push his abilities.

His time with the FSB would peak in horror during the Beslan siege. With him losing his only friends he's acquired in the force during the operation, and witnessing the tragedy of the event firsthand. Receiving multiple wounds too from the event. To say it utterly fucking ruined his psyche was an understatement. Misha then going on a major decline over the years, down to the point he was forced to a desk position later in his career around 2014.

Then his Father died in 2017, causing testing to be handed over to a whole new group of people. Proving to be much worse, because unlike Misha's Father having at least some sympathy, they didn't. As a matter of fact, they amplified tests to straight up modifications and forced augmentation on Misha. Brainwashing, genetic changing, and complete torment of his already broken mind led to the eventual creation of the Russian Government's most nefarious creation. Misha no longer being some metahuman agent for the FSB, no, now they had become Trauma. The new field drone of the SVR RF, tasked with the most brutal of missions throughout the world.

Trauma was a beast sent on assassination after assassination. Killing hundreds of would be anti-russian protestors, journalists, whistleblowers, and opponents throughout the third world and even Europe. With their mission successes leading to further augmentation and brainwashing. However, this would take its toll on Trauma. With Misha still poking through every now and then to throw a wrench in plans with attempted suicides, and multiple fits that killed top Russian Officers. This leading to a final brainwashing and augmentation, before being sent on their largest mission to date... Infiltrating the United States, and killing high profile targets.

Now, they lurk in the shadows hunting for anyone the Kremlin deems a target. Awaiting orders, and utilizing a fake alias in the meantime. With them dipping and taking a new identity each time they're found out, making them ever elusive.
