Things never returning in your nation due to law?

Postby West Bromwich Holme » Fri Apr 08, 2022 9:08 am

In West Bromwich Holme, National Service was banned 9 July 1959, and never returned; no matter how many times they tried to repeal the law, it wouldn't stick.

Also, slavery is banned due to an 1804 law, prohibiting slavery except where:

If an individual enters into servitude of one's own consent, then it is not slavery. Psuedeslavery is not a crime by vuertue of law [sic] and is at individuals risk

Also, within Zewhuynia, well, the islands of Hruska Ostrovy, the law on selling alcohol from 8am-8pm was expunged in 1984, and never returned to the statute books.

In 1761, a royal decree from King Pedro III abolished slavery throughout Portugal, and it is now unconstitutional to attempt to reinstate the practice

The Imperial Armed Forces - the constitution of 1979 (and terms of surrender) meant that Tangatarehua renounced its right to declare war or maintain a standing military.

As such, the Imperial Army, Imperial Navy and Imperial Air Force were all disbanded and replaced by the much smaller Tangatarehua Self-Defence Force.

The same year also saw the abolishment of the controversial practice of kaitangata (ritual cannibalism) which had been a notorious part of Rehuan culture for hundreds of years. Slavery was abolished by the constitution and the death penalty was abolished by decree of the Empress in 1981 - though it does potentially remain on the law books for some crimes.

In 1995, homosexuality was legalised, with the exception of the far-right and left-wing politicians in Strode, no one serious wants to bring the laws against it back.

Slavery was abolished by the royal decree of Nzarina Rebecca I on 20 November 1783. Despite our nation having since become a republic, this law is still enforced as all laws of the previous monarchy continued under the new republic, so long as they were applicable and enforceable to the new government (meaning that laws that specifically pertained to the monarchy or the old government structure are no longer enforced but all other laws are, unless they were later repealed via later law or statute).

Even if this law were to be repealed, it would not result in the reintroduction of slavery to the Democratic Republic as slavery is also constitutionally banned and the clause banning slavery is entrenched and cannot be altered or removed via an amendment.

Slavery, it was first abolished by imperial order issued by Empress Elise in 1819. The importation of slaves was banned ten years before in 1809 under the Halting of Slavery Act.

However this prohibition would only last until 1839 when slavery was re-introduced by order of them President Martin Davens, though the 1809 Halting of Slavery Act remained in effect. This would last until 1872 when slavery was technically abolished, though it was officially replaced with indenturing and serfs.

Slavery was officially and truly banned on 11 April, 1888 under section 7 of the Basic Law of Thermodolia. This was further enforced under Article 10 of the Interim Constitution of Thermodolia of 1888 and Article 8 of the Constitution of the National Republic of Thermodolia which came into force in 1898.

Under Section 3 of Article 7, Article 8 of the current constitution is prohibited from being amended or repealed. Furthermore Slavery in Thermodolian law is defined as any act of forced labor which includes prison labor.

The following are illegal or disallowed by either Federal law or Empirical decree.

1. Slavery is outlawed.

2. Child labor is outlawed. [A person 17 or under is considered a "child" under current government law.]

3. Religious Discrimination for hiring purposes is outlawed.

4. Military Conscription is currently not allowed by Chadtonian law, although this is written in terms that do allow for a possibility of Military Conscription to be re-invoked if necessary, but only under the supervision of the designated survivor.

5. Indecent exposure is illegal.

6. Walking backwards during "the darkness of night" is illegal. '[Due to Empirical Decree. This law may be enforced, but is often overlooked.]

The main two I can think of are involuntary servitude/slavery (not chattel slavery, but we did practice a type of slavery), and the castration of males as a form of punishment.

Oh, and also the banishment of all men from the country. That disappeared about 2.5-3 thousand years ago and we have no intention of bringing it back.

No constitutional reform that will reduce or limit political and civil rights is permitted. If a constitutional reform end to extend or recognize civil rights or political rights it will became permanently inscribed in the constitution without possibility for repeal, if not to improve civil or political rights.

Old spaceships from past Ages and when the Prophets decided that a warship is no longer capable of holding up to their purpose, every bit of data, honors, and all assets must be destroyed, their crew sent off to a place where it is guaranteed for them to crash land, and leave it to ruins to prevent enemy capture. Any Arbiter's body that isn't found within seven cycles after death would mean that they'll never be remembered by anyone in the Kovunanto, or even spoken of its name. Relics that are of a low to medium value unless it has a historical significance in some way that would remind them in the future to study otherwise must be discarded or destroyed.

Nothing can really be permanently removed from statute, since the King who makes the Law is above it - the power does not exist that could call Him to account. Similarly, no authority to whom legislative power has been granted can use that power to bind successive administrations. The only obstacle to the return of certain laws is the will of the people; this has its benefits, as it ensures that changing standards and attitudes aren't blocked from emerging, but it does rely on the people being vigilant and moral.

Steam and diesel-powered locomotives, unless converted to alternative means of power (ie. clean energy), are no longer allowed on the Allinean rail network starting this year, in no small part because of new, stricter carbon emission laws.

Environmentalists welcomed the change, railfans (in general) strongly didn't.
