Biography: Havek, a third-generation immigrant whose family originated from Austria, was the quiet, humble son of an ordinary shopkeeper in upstate New York. By contrast, his siblings were loud and overtly ambitious. The young Leon assisted his parents in running the business and watched as it blossomed into the regional brand known as Havek's General Goods. The modest success that his family enjoyed demonstrated to him that the American Dream was still alive, and that it took great perseverance to achieve. With all of this newfound acclaim, combined with a major corruption scandal in his home district from the incumbent representative, Havek decided to run for office. He comfortably won the Republican primary but only managed a razor-thin victory in the general election. He saw this as a triumph, one of many that emerged from the Republican Revolution of '94. In the House of Representatives, he gained a reputation for being a fiscal hawk. On social matters, he chose the path of moderation. Havek is still a lesser known figure in national politics, but his fringe views are quickly winning over a niche audience.

Biography: George Spencer Walker was born in New Orleans to Henry Walker, a naval officer, and Sienna Walker, a clerk for Hugo Black. Henry was in the Navy as a Lieutenant Commander in the Pacific Fleet, and had been in the Battle of Okinawa on USS Idaho, gaining the Purple Heart for injuries sustained when a fire broke out on the bow of the ship. The family was relatively popular in their community, and rich enough to send George to Yale. He originally was interested in computer and information studies, but eventually gained a degree in international relations and affairs.

After leaving university in 1982, he worked briefly for the CSIS think tank, before following in his father's footsteps and joining the Navy in the Office of Naval Intelligence. He received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for intelligence collection service in Operation Earnest Will. He was on the USS Stark when it was hit by two Exocet missiles in May 1987, getting injuries to his right arm, and was discharged that same year. After leaving the Navy, he, supported by his father, entered politics and entered the 1988, 1990 and 1992 Democrat Louisiana State Senate primaries, in vain. During this time, he went back to the CSIS as a foreign policy advisor. Finally, in 1994, he gained the nomination for the 14th State Senate district, and won.

As Senator, he drafted a strict State Senate bill on the National Guard, which caused some local media attention for increasing the National Guard budget by over 60%- something which gave him a name recognition boost. He also advocated for the Iraq War, and, after 9/11, the War in Afghanistan.

On 9/11, George was one of the first in Louisiana to publicly advocate a war on terror, and made a State Senate speech declaring that "Terror must not, cannot and will not govern America." He also drew on his CSIS and ONI experience to observe that "If they can destroy the heart of what is America, they are ready to fight us, in their homeland and in ours."

In 2002, he announced that he was not going to stand, and hinted that he may go for the gubernatorial election. He briefly worked for CSIS again, and became a policy advisor to the Department of State on the Middle East, before returning to politics in the Democrat gubernatorial primaries in 2006. He had the backing of many of his colleagues in the State Legislature, and the urban and rich population centred in the cities; however, he spent a lot of time in the rural areas and tried to connect with the minorities. He was on a platform of increased social programs, and cutting down on bureaucracy. He supported LGBTQ rights. which was one of his more popular platforms, but advocated for more security- which, in the eyes of the people, meant less privacy (and George stressed strongly that he was not advocating for less privacy, but more security, and that those two were different things). He also planned to strengthen the State Police.

He won the primaries for Governor with 54.29%, and the gubernatorial with 52.8%, having the highest majorities in Houston and the urban areas. His majority was so slim partly because of his support for the War on Terror.

Since taking office, he has tried to get a start on his policies. He has also approved a $210 million relief bill for Hurricane Katrina. Other measures, including some controversial privacy-related ones, are rumoured to be planned, and the latest opinion polls give him only a 5-point lead over the Republicans.

You need your biography to be much longer, and more detailed. Also, your character cannot be "deep state" because the deep state doesn't exist. Multiple aspects of your character are unrealistic, he can't have two full-time extremely demanding jobs at the same time. Washington Shadow Rep is pretty useless, just a warning. He needs some weaknesses and strengths more than "hanging with friends" that actually relate to his character or his electability, I recommend reading over some accepted apps first.

Make some of those changes as a good start.

Segregation Now, Segregation Tomorrow, Segregation Forever: Mattox’s family branched off in the early 1800s between the pro-segregationists and the abolitionist factions of the family. It’s a fact that John is descended from the anti-slavery wing, being named for JAM the First who left his family in Virginia due to his abolitionist beliefs. However, the pro-slavery wing is alive and well, and just as racist as ever, actively participating in the KKK. Mattox has repeatedly denounced these relatives when mentioned, but he does his best to ignore them as he (and his ancestors) have not been in contact with them since before the Civil War.
Mr. Moneybags: The good news is that Mattox isn’t corrupt and no one in his family ever has been. The bad news is that several of his ancestors made good investments that made life easier for him and his family, meaning that he is on the wealthier side of things. His tax returns show that he purposefully overpays anyways, though.

The history of the Mattox family predates the French and Indian War, with Edgar Mattox’s immigration to the Massachusetts colony in 1752 at the age of 17. Edgar’s parents were poor English farmers that had scrimped and saved so that he could move to live with Edgar’s aunt and uncle in Richmond, Virginia. Uncle William owned a print shop (as well as a plantation) and began teaching Edgar the printing trade, but when the French and Indian War began in 1754, Edgar immediately enlisted, seeing a chance to rise above his class. Edgar was placed under the command of a Lt. Colonel named George Washington. Edgar admired Washington, even after the Battle of Fort Necessity ended in defeat. For the duration of the war, Edgar trusted Washington and followed his leave. In the end, Edgar left the army as a major that still served under Washington. Uncle William and Aunt Hilda were upset that he had stayed in the army for the entire war, but they were proud to see that he had done well for himself.

For the next several years, Edgar “worked” as a plantation overseer, helping to keep the two dozen or so slaves busy. When Uncle William died in 1767, Edgar inherited the Mattox Plantation. He married and began having children in 1770, the eldest of these being Remus Mattox. When the American Revolution began in 1773, Edgar again joined the military, supporting the Patriots and again serving under Washington, who was now a general. Edgar maintained his status as a major during the war, fighting alongside Washington in New Jersey, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and elsewhere. After the war, Edgar was promoted to colonel and became a member of the Virginia legislature for a single term. He died in 1800, just a few weeks after the death of his beloved general.

With the death of his father, Remus Mattox inherited the plantation. At the age of 20, Remus found himself to be a loyal Democratic-Republican, preferring the policies of Jefferson to those of Adams; thus, he voted for the Democratic-Republicans, and later the Democrats, until his death in 1850. He lived a relatively dull life, focusing solely on building his profits and expanding the size of his plantation. He had two sons, Avery and John; it is here that the Mattox family branches off.

Avery and John were two very different men. Avery, the elder of the two, was a Jeffersonian Republican like his father. John, on the other hand, became a National Republican, then a Whig, then a Republican. John had a stronger sense of ethics and was an abolitionist. The strife between the two brothers resulted in John taking his inheritance and moving to Boston, Massachusetts. John had studied law in his youth and became a lawyer at 23; he joined a firm in Boston and built a life for himself. He raised his children to hold an eternal hatred of slavery and bigotry. This resulted in the split between the Mattox line that exists today. Despite being raised as Episcopalian, John converted to Methodism.

John married and had a son, John Jr, in 1860. John served as an active member of the local Republican Party, serving in the state legislature for the duration of the Civil War. John considered himself a Radical Republican, strongly supporting the likes of Abraham Lincoln, Thaddeus Stevens, and Edwin Stanton. In 1868, he attended the Republican National Convention and proudly led the Massachusetts delegation in casting their votes for Ulysses S. Grant. John served in the legislature until he had a heart attack in 1876 as his doctor urged him to resign as he was working himself to death. John remained politically active, however, attending and hosting various Republican events in Massachusetts. He had a second heart attack in 1880, followed by another in 1881 that left him paralyzed as he fell from a second-story balcony. John died after a third and final heart attack on December 31, 1899. All of his wealth was given to his wife, son, and three daughters.

John Jr– or Amos, as he preferred– grew up during the Civil War. He was strictly raised as an anti-slavery Methodist. Like his father, he studied law and began practicing at a firm based in Boston. He married late in life (1895) and had twins, Margaret and Uther. Amos left the child-rearing to his wife and mother, spending more time in his study or in the courtroom than at home. Unlike his father, Amos was a quiet introvert, rarely saying much, leaving his words to be found in verbose essays and court papers. Amos served as a local judge from 1899 until his death in 1941. He remained a Republican for his entire life.

Uther Mattox was a banker born in 1895. He began working for the Boston Federal Reserve in 1920 after several years of college studying finance and economics at Harvard thanks to his family’s wealth. Uther considered himself a Roosevelt Progressive, generally aligning with the more progressive factions of the Republican Party. However, with the start of the Depression in 1929, he flipped entirely in favor of the Democrats. Despite not being politically active, Uther was firm in his support of Roosevelt, the New Deal, and liberalism. Like his father and grandfather, he was also a strong supporter of civil rights. Like his father, he also married later in life, opting to marry Angelica Mosely in 1948 and having his only child, a son, in 1950.

It is here that the life of John Amos Mattox III begins. As the son of Uther Mattox and Angelica Mosely, John grew up in relative prosperity, experiencing the economic prosperity of Boston’s wealthier class in the 1950s and 1960s. After graduating from high school in 1968, Mattox enlisted in the US Army against the wishes of his parents. He spent several months in training before joining several missions. Mattox was shot during a ground-based mission in January 1971 but returned to the fight a few months later. He served for the remainder of the war, coming home in May 1975.

After staying home for several months, Mattox became involved in local politics and met a member of the state legislature named Wolfe. Wolfe had a daughter named Virginia, and she married Mattox in February 1976. They had two children later that year, Laertes and Ophelia. Laertes followed his grandfather into banking before entering state politics while Ophelia became a worker for the VA. In 1979, Mattox and his wife had a second set of children, Ginevra (Ginny for short) and Arthur. Arthur was stillborn, unlike his sister. Ginny worked in Boston politics before becoming her father’s chief of staff in 2005.

Mattox first ran for political office in 1978 at the urging of his father-in-law. With the backing of local leaders and his family’s wealth, Mattox easily won his primary in a race for Congress. He focused partly on his military service but also on the policies of liberal leaders such as the Kennedys. Despite his military service, Ted Kennedy met with and later endorsed Mattox, all but assuring that he would win. Mattox has consistently been reelected to his seat every two years since then, facing only token opposition.

In 1991, Mattox was asked to serve as the Whip of the House Democratic Caucus. He readily accepted the post, happy to play his role on behalf of the nation. He maintained the friendly demeanor that he was known for, but his methods for whipping votes quickly became infamous. Though they were not openly discussed, it has been verified that Mattox has never engaged in corruption. Privately, Mattox has used various methods to make sure that members vote certain ways, with some rumors floating around that he had threatened to withhold funding or change the committees that members were on for the sake of key votes.

In 1985, Mattox learned that his wife had tested positive for HIV after a seasonal flu shot. At his wife’s request, this was not revealed to the general public. A few years later, this developed into AIDs, and the pain of her death in 1994 made him begin considering resigning from the Whip position. He opted not to, holding onto his position until 2001. He decided to step down and advocated for the selection of Abilene Wilson-Carter as his replacement.

In 2004, Mattox was tapped for the vice presidency by Senator Ward. Mattox is extremely loyal to Ward and would get involved in presidential politics at the Senator’s request. Currently, Mattox favors Martel, but just barely. Generally speaking, however, he is highly dissatisfied with the current state of affairs on the Democratic side. If a Republican was to win, Mattox has privately shared that he would prefer CHS as it is easier to work with her than most other Republicans. He has also stated publicly that Woolworth being the nominee would be the end of the Democratic Party, saying, “If the choice is a Republican or Woolworth, I’m voting for the Republican.”

Loyal to His Friends: Mattox is loyal to his friends, willing to stand by them until the very end. He takes a quote from his ancestor John Mattox I to heart: “Standing by a friend regardless of the consequences often proves to be the greater good; were this not true, I would not be alive today.” Although not politically sound, it has not ruined Mattox’s career… yet.
Segregation Now, Segregation Tomorrow, Segregation Forever: Mattox’s family branched off in the early 1800s between the pro-segregationists and the abolitionist factions of the family. It’s a fact that John is descended from the anti-slavery wing, being named for JAM the First who left his family in Virginia due to his abolitionist beliefs. However, the pro-slavery wing is alive and well, and just as racist as ever, actively participating in the KKK. Mattox has repeatedly denounced these relatives when mentioned, but he does his best to ignore them as he (and his ancestors) have not been in contact with them since before the Civil War.
Mr. Moneybags: The good news is that Mattox isn’t corrupt and no one in his family ever has been. The bad news is that several of his ancestors made good investments that made life easier for him and his family, meaning that he is on the wealthier side of things. His tax returns show that he purposefully overpays anyways, though.

The history of the Mattox family predates the French and Indian War, with Edgar Mattox’s immigration to the Massachusetts colony in 1752 at the age of 17. Edgar’s parents were poor English farmers that had scrimped and saved so that he could move to live with Edgar’s aunt and uncle in Richmond, Virginia. Uncle William owned a print shop (as well as a plantation) and began teaching Edgar the printing trade, but when the French and Indian War began in 1754, Edgar immediately enlisted, seeing a chance to rise above his class. Edgar was placed under the command of a Lt. Colonel named George Washington. Edgar admired Washington, even after the Battle of Fort Necessity ended in defeat. For the duration of the war, Edgar trusted Washington and followed his leave. In the end, Edgar left the army as a major that still served under Washington. Uncle William and Aunt Hilda were upset that he had stayed in the army for the entire war, but they were proud to see that he had done well for himself.

For the next several years, Edgar “worked” as a plantation overseer, helping to keep the two dozen or so slaves busy. When Uncle William died in 1767, Edgar inherited the Mattox Plantation. He married and began having children in 1770, the eldest of these being Remus Mattox. When the American Revolution began in 1773, Edgar again joined the military, supporting the Patriots and again serving under Washington, who was now a general. Edgar maintained his status as a major during the war, fighting alongside Washington in New Jersey, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and elsewhere. After the war, Edgar was promoted to colonel and became a member of the Virginia legislature for a single term. He died in 1800, just a few weeks after the death of his beloved general.

With the death of his father, Remus Mattox inherited the plantation. At the age of 20, Remus found himself to be a loyal Democratic-Republican, preferring the policies of Jefferson to those of Adams; thus, he voted for the Democratic-Republicans, and later the Democrats, until his death in 1850. He lived a relatively dull life, focusing solely on building his profits and expanding the size of his plantation. He had two sons, Avery and John; it is here that the Mattox family branches off.

Avery and John were two very different men. Avery, the elder of the two, was a Jeffersonian Republican like his father. John, on the other hand, became a National Republican, then a Whig, then a Republican. John had a stronger sense of ethics and was an abolitionist. The strife between the two brothers resulted in John taking his inheritance and moving to Boston, Massachusetts. John had studied law in his youth and became a lawyer at 23; he joined a firm in Boston and built a life for himself. He raised his children to hold an eternal hatred of slavery and bigotry. This resulted in the split between the Mattox line that exists today. Despite being raised as Episcopalian, John converted to Methodism.

John married and had a son, John Jr, in 1860. John served as an active member of the local Republican Party, serving in the state legislature for the duration of the Civil War. John considered himself a Radical Republican, strongly supporting the likes of Abraham Lincoln, Thaddeus Stevens, and Edwin Stanton. In 1868, he attended the Republican National Convention and proudly led the Massachusetts delegation in casting their votes for Ulysses S. Grant. John served in the legislature until he had a heart attack in 1876 as his doctor urged him to resign as he was working himself to death. John remained politically active, however, attending and hosting various Republican events in Massachusetts. He had a second heart attack in 1880, followed by another in 1881 that left him paralyzed as he fell from a second-story balcony. John died after a third and final heart attack on December 31, 1899. All of his wealth was given to his wife, son, and three daughters.

John Jr– or Amos, as he preferred– grew up during the Civil War. He was strictly raised as an anti-slavery Methodist. Like his father, he studied law and began practicing at a firm based in Boston. He married late in life (1895) and had twins, Margaret and Uther. Amos left the child-rearing to his wife and mother, spending more time in his study or in the courtroom than at home. Unlike his father, Amos was a quiet introvert, rarely saying much, leaving his words to be found in verbose essays and court papers. Amos served as a local judge from 1899 until his death in 1941. He remained a Republican for his entire life.

Uther Mattox was a banker born in 1895. He began working for the Boston Federal Reserve in 1920 after several years of college studying finance and economics at Harvard thanks to his family’s wealth. Uther considered himself a Roosevelt Progressive, generally aligning with the more progressive factions of the Republican Party. However, with the start of the Depression in 1929, he flipped entirely in favor of the Democrats. Despite not being politically active, Uther was firm in his support of Roosevelt, the New Deal, and liberalism. Like his father and grandfather, he was also a strong supporter of civil rights. Like his father, he also married later in life, opting to marry Angelica Mosely in 1948 and having his only child, a son, in 1950.

It is here that the life of John Amos Mattox III begins. As the son of Uther Mattox and Angelica Mosely, John grew up in relative prosperity, experiencing the economic prosperity of Boston’s wealthier class in the 1950s and 1960s. After graduating from high school in 1968, Mattox enlisted in the US Army against the wishes of his parents. He spent several months in training before joining several missions. Mattox was shot during a ground-based mission in January 1971 but returned to the fight a few months later. He served for the remainder of the war, coming home in May 1975.

After staying home for several months, Mattox became involved in local politics and met a member of the state legislature named Wolfe. Wolfe had a daughter named Virginia, and she married Mattox in February 1976. They had two children later that year, Laertes and Ophelia. Laertes followed his grandfather into banking before entering state politics while Ophelia became a worker for the VA. In 1979, Mattox and his wife had a second set of children, Ginevra (Ginny for short) and Arthur. Arthur was stillborn, unlike his sister. Ginny worked in Boston politics before becoming her father’s chief of staff in 2005.

Mattox first ran for political office in 1978 at the urging of his father-in-law. With the backing of local leaders and his family’s wealth, Mattox easily won his primary in a race for Congress. He focused partly on his military service but also on the policies of liberal leaders such as the Kennedys. Despite his military service, Ted Kennedy met with and later endorsed Mattox, all but assuring that he would win. Mattox has consistently been reelected to his seat every two years since then, facing only token opposition.

In 1991, Mattox was asked to serve as the Whip of the House Democratic Caucus. He readily accepted the post, happy to play his role on behalf of the nation. He maintained the friendly demeanor that he was known for, but his methods for whipping votes quickly became infamous. Though they were not openly discussed, it has been verified that Mattox has never engaged in corruption. Privately, Mattox has used various methods to make sure that members vote certain ways, with some rumors floating around that he had threatened to withhold funding or change the committees that members were on for the sake of key votes.

In 1985, Mattox learned that his wife had tested positive for HIV after a seasonal flu shot. At his wife’s request, this was not revealed to the general public. A few years later, this developed into AIDs, and the pain of her death in 1994 made him begin considering resigning from the Whip position. He opted not to, holding onto his position until 2001. He decided to step down and advocated for the selection of Abilene Wilson-Carter as his replacement.

In 2004, Mattox was tapped for the vice presidency by Senator Ward. Mattox is extremely loyal to Ward and would get involved in presidential politics at the Senator’s request. Currently, Mattox favors Martel, but just barely. Generally speaking, however, he is highly dissatisfied with the current state of affairs on the Democratic side. If a Republican was to win, Mattox has privately shared that he would prefer CHS as it is easier to work with her than most other Republicans. He has also stated publicly that Woolworth being the nominee would be the end of the Democratic Party, saying, “If the choice is a Republican or Woolworth, I’m voting for the Republican.”

SECTION 2: References and Enactment
Except as expressly provided otherwise, any reference to “this Act” contained in any subtitle of this Act shall be treated as referring only to the provisions of that subtitle. This Act shall go into effect on January 3, 2009.

SECTION 3: Severability
If any provision of this Act, or the application thereof to any person or circumstance, is held invalid, the remainder of the Act and the application of such provision to other persons or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

SECTION 4: Buy American
All of the things purchased by the American government for construction, alteration, maintenance, or repair of a public building or public work unless all of the iron, steel and manufactured goods used in the project are produced in America, with manufactured items coming from small businesses if possible. This can be excused if the head of a federal department/program that approves purchases submits a letter requesting an exemption to Congress to be approved by the House. Additionally, large businesses and corporations are encouraged to promote competition with smaller businesses without taking them over or attacking them.

SECTION 4: Wage Rate and Employee Protection Requirements
Notwithstanding any other provision of law and in a manner consistent with other provisions in this Act, all laborers, and mechanics employed by contractors and subcontractors on projects funded directly by or assisted in whole or in part by and through the federal government according to this Act shall be paid wages at rates not less than $6.55 and adjusted every two years for inflation. The Secretary of Labor shall also be able to request wage increases every four years. An additional $1 billion in funds shall be used to assist small businesses with the wage increase.

SECTION 5: Extension of Unemployment Benefits
Unemployment benefits shall expire at the end of 252 business days.

SECTION 6: Construction Plans
Immediately on the passage of this bill into law, the many Secretaries that oversee the Departments of Labor, Housing & Urban Development, Energy, Transportation, Treasury, Interior, and Commerce shall receive funds that shall be jointly allocated to the Departments to be spent to improve roads, build additional housing facilities, create new jobs, support small businesses, and boost the American economy. Departments found not to be compliant with Section 4 (excluding necessary exceptions) shall be considered to violate federal law and will be considered to have committed a high crime or misdemeanor, thus resulting in a fine not exceeding the misuse of funds times two and up to a year in jail time. $500 million of funding shall be set aside as a precautionary measure in case there are needs for any civil or criminal suits.

Section 7: Small Business Tax Cuts
Small businesses shall have their earnings taxed less; the first calendar year that this act is in effect shall see a 1% decrease, and it shall decrease by an additional 1% until small business taxes are 10% lower.

Section 8: Increased SBA Funding
An additional $45 billion shall be set aside to increase funding for the Small Business Administration.
