Information - Schedule
Semi Final 1 - Semi Final 2 - Semi Final 3 - Battle Stage - Grand Final

Welcome to Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2022, the seventh instalment of one of the biggest WorldVision and World Hit Festival National Finals. On this page, you will be able to find all of the IC content of each of the shows, including the results of them. You can also vote - regardless of whether you participate in WorldVision, World Hit or neither. We look forward to welcoming you to Boschke, Eaux City, Junterapten, Kyvivre and finally, Doportedas!

THE FORMAT
"The rules of the 7th Vha Mehlodhivestoile will go as follows. Vha Mehlodhivestoile will continue in its usual structure with there being three semi-finals, a battle stage and a grand final. The first semi-final will happen on the 26th March 2022 with the grand final on the 30th April 2022. Each semi-final will consist of eight (8) artists, with the Britonish votes accounting for 50% of the overall total. This year, there will be eight (8) voting areas per Semi-Final, including the usual six televoting areas (North, Central, East, City, Capital and Aloquirbe). The seventh group will be a demoscopic jury made of 620 people representing the 62 million people in Britonisea who will watch the show's rehearsal the day before along with the final group - The Professionals. A group of 10 music industry experts will be the final "voting area". We've decided to make these changes to give the average Briton more of a chance for their voice to be heard. A total of 8 nations maximum will be allowed to vote in a semi-final of Vha Mehlodhivestoile as we have found this to be the optimal number to gain enough information on how the international votes will go in the final. With 8 nations having voted in each semi-final in the past, we will also be able to directly compare each show. Nations will give out [12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 4, 2, 1] to give a total of 50 points. At the end of each show, the top two artists will qualify for the grand final in Doportedas (six overall) with third and fourth place qualifying to the battle stage which will take place in Kyvivre. The battles will be judged by Scotatrova, South Batoko and Axuva. There will be no international televote during the Semi-Finals.

"10 acts will make it to the Grand Final, similar to 2016, 2018 and 2019. For the Grand Final, international juries will vote in the Worldvision point system [12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1] and will be joined by a Britonish Jury. Around 33% of the final vote will be from the Britonish televote. Regardless of the number of international juries, the Britonish televote will be giving out no less than 348 points. A minute after the 10th song, voting lines will freeze. There will not be a voting sequence and we will find out our top 3 acts relatively soon after the voting lines freeze. The top three will then qualify to the Superfinal to decide their fate. Voting lines will reopen and the acts will perform again. A minute after the last song, voting lines will close. There will be a voting sequence made up of 100% televote (international included) which will give us the winner of the 7th Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2022.

"The number of participants in Vha Mehlodhivestoile will be 25."

OOC: Users can only vote ONCE in each round of Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2022. A maximum of eight nations can vote in each Semi-Final (and thus Semi-Finals results can be released earlier than scheduled).

Automatic Qualifier & Hosts

Automatic Qualifier: Josh Morris

Josh Morris will return to Vha Mehlodhivestoile after qualifying directly to the final from Semi-Final 1, coming third in the final and winning the 59th World Hit Festival in Achaean Republic with his song, "Mine". During the Press Conference, Josh said that he was "super excited to be back after the best year of his life...despite the circumstances". Josh has a lot to be proud of, his song, "Mine" has continually stayed in the Britonish Top 150 for the past year. You will hear him perform his VM2022 contribution during the third Semi-Final in Junterapten. Host, Xavier Benchek will be on the other side of the fence this year, as he helps present the show alongside Alyxhia Willis - the winner of Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2019 and Matt Evans - who presented last year. With Vha Mehlodhivestoile returning to normal capacity, they all look forward to a VM2022 and have teased that the songs this year are all fantastic.

Semi Final 1 - Boschke
01 Claudia Ferrari 02 Rocco Verlice 03 TOULOUSE 04 Dr. Dan ft Fender 05 EVOLUTION 06 Mya Richardson 07 Jairo Allen 08 Charlotte's Party

During the Press Conference, we had a little section for the Semi-Final 1 artists. 36-year-old Claudia Ferrari will be opening the show in Boschke. Claudia is a newbie to Vha Mehlodhivestoile, but will be singing a big sing to welcome the audience to what is expected to be a highly competitive edition of Britonisea's favourite music entertainment show. Another debutant, Rocco Verlice will follow Claudia Ferrari. At 21, Rocco is the youngest singer in Semi-Final 1 but don't underestimate him, his song is set to get the crowd on their feet! TOULOUSE will be the third act performing at this year's Vha Mehlodhivestoile. You might remember them from last year. Their song, "Pointe-Ouiser" was a hit with the international juries, but that didn't translate with the Britonish, meaning they missed out on a qualifiers spot. TOULOUSE are Vha Mehlodhivestoile veterans, however. The three piece group sent "Secroussué" to VM2020 and came 5th in the final...will it be third time lucky for them? Following them are international submission ticketholders, Dr. Dan ft Fender. Dr. Dan, or Daniela Ramírez will be pairing up with Fender to see whether they can crack the Britonish market. Dr. Dan has some history at the WorldVision Song Contest, having been behind Elejamie's entry for the 79th WorldVision Song Contest - which came 7th. Alongside Fender, she will be hoping to better that placement at WorldVision if they win VM2022. Boy pop group, EVOLUTION will be vying to represent Britonisea at this year's contest. This year, they're the only boyband so they say that they are feeling a lot of pressure to do well. Mya Richardson will return to Vha Mehlodhivestoile for the 6th time with the hope of qualifying after last year's disappointment. Mya Richardson is hoping to "Return" to the WorldVision Song Contest after she provided Britonisea with a 5th place at the 38th WorldVision Song Contest, and then the nation's first win three editions later. Jairo Allen will perform 7th in Boschke. He's very new to the music scene, but he's hoping with his cheeky song and charming looks, he will go directly to the final. Finally, Charlotte's Party returns to Vha Mehlodhivestoile after three years. Charlotte's Party failed to impress the international jury in 2019 when they only received 2 points in one of the hardest Semi-Finals in the history of Vha Mehlodhivestoile. They are hoping for revenge in the first Semi-Final as they close the show.

Image
Semi Final 2 - Eaux City
01 Rigas Jengiz & Dimitris Aetos 02 Daniel Boyst 03 KAYLEY 04 Mehkl Maddox-Ajax 05 ELLA 06 e.s.t.i 07 Eli Klein 08 GVLD

After having a chat with the Semi-Final 1 artists, we moved on to those who will perform in Eaux City. Rigas Jengiz and Dimitris Aetos will open the show with a fiery number. Rigas Jengiz now places below the likes of Mya Richardson in the list of most participations, with Rigas returning for the fourth time. Rigas nearly won the 2016 edition of Vha Mehlodhivestoile but didn't do as well in 2017 and 2020. This will be the second track she is working in conjunction with someone at Vha Mehlodhivestoile. Dimitris is a fairly popular singer outside of the VM/WV/WHF bubble but has been convinced by Rigas to cross that line and maybe represent Britonisea at an international song competition. They will be followed by Daniel Boyst - now, yes, he does look exactly like World Hit Festival 37 winner, Dean Boyst...that's because they're brothers! Daniel Boyst will be hoping to emulate his brother's success at Vha Mehlodhivestoile (he came third in Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2017 before going on to win WHF37). 2017, 2018, 2020 and now 2022 - KAYLEY returns to Vha Mehlodhivestoile as she continues her hunt for the win! While 2017 saw the star finish last in Semi-Final 1, KAYLEY brought the fire the edition afterwards as she qualified directly to the final and won the international vote, but came 2nd overall. She went to the 38th World Hit Festival in Darkmania where she placed 6th. In 2020, KAYLEY won her Semi-Final and placed 4th in the final. She went on to represent Britonisea in WorldVision in Llalta and finished in the top 10. Mehkl Maddox-Ajax will become the first previous winner of Vha Mehlodhivestoile to return competitively. Mehkl is a national treasure in Britonisea, despite the initial hate Mehkl received after his WorldVision appearance. In 2017, Mehkl won over Britonisea and International Juries when he won VM. Since his win, Mehkl Maddox-Ajax has hosted the 49th World Hit Festival and 51st WorldVision Song Contest. Performing fifth is another returning artist, ELLA. ELLA was a fan-favourite last year with her french track, "Facile" and actually placed in the top 4 of both the International Juries and Britonish votes, but the maths was not on her side as she was 3 points away from qualification. Will she do better in Eaux? Hailing from Urvateršippai, Brito-Todlichebujoki, e.s.t.i is the second international act to win a spot in Vha Mehlodhivestoile. Currently living in Dungsland and Vermine, e.s.t.i is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Jun-iči and Ekkehard (2019) and represent his favourite country in the multiverse, Britonisea! Eli Klein will perform 7th in the second Semi-Final. Eli is new to Vha Mehlodhivestoile but his song is quite engaging. Eli is 32 years old and is from the south of Britonisea. He's hoping to gain new fans not only in Britonisea but across borders and he certainly will after he performs his song. Closing the Semi-Final is GVLD. The pair are new to Vha Mehlodhivestoile also, but have had some past experience in the music industry. The pair is made up of William and Jared, from Jyske.

Semi Final 3 - Junterapten
01 Ayden Robinson 02 Jakub Wozniak 03 Xorsha 04 TR3SANGULIS 05 Blue.N ft Aaron Banques 06 Tobias Noah 07 Melissa 08 Petre Lemetre

The final Semi-Final is set to take place in Junterapten and will host 8 great acts, starting with Ayden Robinson! Ayden is a 23-year-old man from the North of Britonisea and is hoping that his song resonates with people across the country. Following Ayden is Jakub Wozniak who at the tender age of 19 is the youngest participant in this year's Vha Mehlodhivestoile. Jakub has an online presence on Tiktok and is hoping that Gen Z are on his side this year. Xorsha will be the third singer of the night - another debutante! Xorsha is a 27 year old singer with a big song to sing. Xorsha is from the very North of Britonisea, but also has family from the coldest parts of Nightom too - she's hoping for that trans-ABENite support! TR3SANGULIS will return to Vha Mehlodhivestoile after finishing second last year. The trio wanted to go through the Semi-Final round first and offered themselves for the 63rd World Hit Festival in Scotatrova. Once they're finished there, they will get started on their performance in Junterapten. TR3SANGULIS will be hoping that this song can take them one step further to win Vha Mehlodhivestoile outright. They're then followed by international submission, Blue.N from Rhim Flavezztowland alongside brother of the past two winners of Vha Mehlodhivestoile, Aaron Banques. This unlikely duo was orchestrated by BVC officials who thought they would be the perfect match and ever since they met, they hit it off! They've been preparing a track perfect for Vha Mehlodhivestoile. Performing after them is Tobias Noah, one of the biggest names in Britonisea. Tobias Noah qualified from the 'death-slot' in Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2020's second semi-final in first place, finishing third in the final. After declining to represent Britonisea without winning, Tobias performed at the 53rd World Hit Festival in Bovingdon. Tobias returned to Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2021, where he finished 10th. Tobias is hoping to bring back some of that magic he had in 2020 with his song. Melissa is the penultimate act of Semi-Final 3. She's a relatively new performer after she recently won The Voice in Estogium. While Britonish, she does spend a lot of time in Darlington which is why she signed up there. Melissa's song is notably different from the other offerings this Semi-Final as she wants to create a moment on the stage. Finally, this man needs no introduction...Petre Lemetre will close Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2022 as embarks on his sixth attempt at Vha Mehlodhivestoile glory. Unlike the aforementioned Mya Richardson, Petre has never even stepped foot on the international stage and hope his song will finally do it for him this year.

WHO IS GOING TO WIN?
All songs will be revealed in exactly two weeks time...

That wraps it up from VM2022 HQ. In exactly two weeks' time, you will know all the songs of Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2022...but now, it's time to speculate...who is going to win the 7th edition of Britonisea's biggest music show?

Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2021 | SF1 | Boschke, Britonisea

Image
Live Coverage of Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2022. LIVE from Boschke, Britonisea with your hosts Xavier Benchek, Alyxhia Willis and Matt Evans.

Who would have thought in 2016 that this national final, which was an experimental idea at the time, would still be here for its seventh annual spin at finding the next Britonish star. There is no doubt that Vha Mehlodhivestoile has contributed massively not only to the Britonish music scene but WorldVision and World Hit Festival as a whole. Vha Mehlodhivestoile has paved the way for other for other formats in nations across the multiverse and with Vha Mehlodhivestoile being broadcast in over 20 different countries, there is no doubt that the hit show will continue to influence broadcasters to create a Vha Mehlodhivestoile of their own. For the second time only, the winner of Vha Mehlodhivestoile did not go on to win the WorldVision Song Contest, but unlike in 2017, the winner (Aaliyah Banques) did manage to get a silver medal - including a win in the Jury vote. Similarly to 2017, the third placed act went to the World Hit Festival where they ended up winning the whole thing. This kept the pattern that each Vha Mehlodhivestoile has produced a winner at an international song competition and BVC + BITC are hoping that this year is no different. There has been a return to basics for this year’s 2022 after the Vha Mehlodhivestoile format got quite confusing for the past couple of years. 25 acts will be competing this year; 8 in each of the three Semi-Finals, alongside with an automatic finalist. 10 will feature in the Grand Final, following the format of 2016, 2018 and 2019. There also will not be any international televote in the Semi-Finals either. The top two acts will head directly to the final, while 3rd and 4th will have to fight to continue during the Battle Stage which returns to Kyvivre.

For the first Semi-Final of Vha Mehlodhivestoile, 20,000 people will be packed in the Newbury Park Arena in Boschke. This is the first time that the Newbury Park Arena will be filled up 100% since the coronavirus pandemic begun, with the last event being held here at full capacity being the 81st WorldVision Song Contest which saw VM2020 winner, Aaliyah Banques win over the world. With Vha Mehlodhivestoile not clashing with either World Hit Festival this weekend or WorldVision, the show is able to start at its normal time of 20:00 Britonish Time. As it hit 20:00 Britonish time, the official theme tune of Vha Mehlodhivestoile begun, with the faint sound of the immense cheer in the Newbury Park Arena being played underneath the tune. Vha Mehlodhivestoile is back and this year, producers are chasing the win they lost out on…

OPENING ACT
OPENING ACT // THE ACTS // HOW TO VOTE // PLAYLIST // INTERVAL ACT

Usually, the first opening act of the national final is a song that did very well at either the WorldVision Song Contest or the World Hit Festival over the past year. This year, great results didn’t come as easily as they did two years ago. While there was a winner, that came directly from an act that is to participate at this edition of Vha Mehlodhivestoile and so BVC officials thought it would be best if they focused on that performance for now. Instead, the hosts would be the ones who would introduce the show. With two of them being singers anyway (Matt isn’t necessarily a singer, but he can hit a note or two like a lot of Britons can anyway), they were more than happy on getting their singing voices out to welcome the show in. Boschkivites cheered loudly as powerful vocals could be heard throughout the arena. the song that would welcome the show begun...

On the stage, there was a large man who was dressed in a suit and a bowtie with a huge mustache on. He stood on the inner most island of the stage - which by the way looked like this (stage). The camera slowly moved onto him as he sang off into the distance;

The new dawn’s coming, prepare your houses,
The wave of destruction will be very loud, loud,
Yes it’s entrancing, it’s so enticing,
Don’t let its beauty deceive you.

Just keep your eyes closed, keep the windows shut,
Block the sunlight, block the sun, block it out, out, out
Don’t stand too close, you’ll feel its sheer heat,
A feeling that you won’t forget.

Ayxhia came walking out from the middle of the stage and started singing her part of the song. She was wearing this beautiful black laced dress which really showed off her curves and senusality. She didn't sing for too long before being joined by Matt Evans - who hosted Vha Mehlodhivestoile last edition.

Turn off the TV… well, after Mehves,
All radios, all smartphones, turn them off, off, off!
They’ll track you down and it’ll be ruthless,
Protect yourself, resist temptation.

Na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na
A new day’s coming, but don’t be hopeful, no don’t
Na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na

The pair of them sung together on the stage alongside the large man who came in during the chorus and once again as we went into the next verse of the song. Dancers came flooding onto the stage from random areas of the stage - filling the stage up with people. There was a beautiful shot from further away showing how filled up the stage was in the vast arena holding 10,000 people in there. They all cheered as they could see themselves in the replay screens.

The sounds of children playing on the street,
Will turn to screams, screams of fear, screams of fear, fear, fear!
Hold your loved ones and never let go,
Let amour act as your armour.

The force is coming, but don’t be afraid,
We will be safe, we’ll be safe, we’ll be safe, safe, safe.
Reminisce about the good times we’ve had,
Let me see your smile once again.

Xavier Benchek, the final host of Vha Mehlodhivestoile, came onto the stage and started singing with the rest of them. Xavier himself is a singer and has no issues with singing and being confident on the stage. As he stepped out, Xavier receive huge applause - the general Britonish public really liked him.

Na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na
A new day’s coming, but don’t be hopeful, no don’t
Na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na

All of the hosts, stood together in a line as the camera slowly moved outwards, showing the whole stage. The dancers around them raised their hands high up into the sky as powerful golden beams shot from the back of the stage.

[Ad-libs]
A new day’s coming, but don’t be hopeful,
There’s nothing we can do but pray.

Na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na
A new day’s coming, but don’t be hopeful, no don’t
Na, na, na, na, na, na (ohhh)
Na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na

Na, na, na, na, na, na (block it out!)
Na, na, na, na, na (turn it off!)
A new day’s coming, but don’t be hopeful, no don’t
Na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na

At the end of that performance, there was a huge cheer for the three hosts that were on the stage who were all standing next to one another, soaking in the warm response from Boschke. After a while of soaking up the glory, they received a little nudge from the producers in their ear to start with the show and so Alyxhia Willis, who was standing in the middle of the two tall men that flanked her began speaking whilst the audience continued cheering.

Image
Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2022 hosts: Matt Evans, Alyxhia Willis and Xavier Benchek are your hosts for this year's Vha Mehlodhivestoile...

Alyxhia Willis: Bienvenue, wilkom and welcome to Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2022!

As she shouted this, the sounds of the cheer in the audience, which had slightly died down a tad rocketed back up. Alyxhia looked at her two co-hosts who shot smiles back at her. The three of them then returned their gaze on the camera that was in front of them.

Alyxhia Willis: Wow, you guys are on a roll tonight! I am your co-host for the evening Alyxhia Willis…

Xavier Benchek: I am Xavier Benchek…

Matt Evans: And I am Matt Evans, back for another round of Vha Mehlodhivestoile goodness!

Matt Evans is of course referring to the fact that this is his second stint at hosting Vha Mehlodhivestoile as he debuted as host last year.

Alyxhia Willis: Of course, how could we forget? Matt, you hosted Vha Mehlodhivestoile last year during the Semi-Finals - you should be a pro at this hosting thaaang right?

Matt Evans: Well… I wouldn’t say I was a pro but I will tell you, the BVC officials were gagging to have me back, and in all honesty, I couldn’t refuse the offer.

Xavier Benchek: Hmm, whether they were gagging or not, I’m sure is up for debate…

There were some snickers within the audience as the camera quickly swooped over the strong audience of 20,000 people in the arena. Vha Mehlodhivestoile is the only show in Britonisea where so many of Britonisea’s most famous stars are in one place and you can tell that brings a huge audience - both in person and television viewers.

Matt Evans: (*Aggravated*) Woah! Mr Xavier, you were at Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2021 as well, weren’t you?

Xavier Benchek: Direkt till final, baby!

Xavier was a participant in Vha Mehlodhivestoile last year. He sent the song, “Demons” which was a hit in Britonisea eventhough it didn’t do as well in the Final as it did in the Semi-Final.

Matt Evans: And you came…only 8th…in the final, didn’t you? Is that why you’re hosting and not performing this year ‘round?

Xavier fixed his collar as he rolled his tongue in his mouth, trying to keep himself calm and collected after Matt said that comment. Alyxhia wanted to break the sass match between Xavier and Matt and so intervened;

Alyxhia Willis: Boys, boys! Let’s stop cockfighting here and let’s focus on the first Semi-Final of the seventh annual Vha Mehlodhivestoile coming live from the Newbury Park Arena here in Boschke - a truly fantastic arena and the perfect place to find the next winner of the WorldVision Song Contest and World Hit Festival!

Xavier Benchek: Absolutely! Some of you will remember that this legendary venue held the 81st WorldVision Song Contest - the most recent Britonish hosted edition. There, Britonisea took home their 6th victory, Aaliyah Banques won with her hit song “Indestructible'', despite fierce competition from the likes of Todlichebujoku and Izmedu.

Matt Evans: And they sent great entries in that edition. In the 16 editions since, Britonisea won the 87th WorldVision Song Contest with Charlotte Davies and her song “Let Me Down Gently” and she opened Vha Mehlodhivestoile last year.

Alyxhia Willis: And this year, one of tonight’s acts could go to the 99th WorldVision Song Contest and win for Britonisea!

Matt Evans: Here is how tonight will go…in a moment we are going to open the vote for tonight’s Semi-Final. You’ve been able to hear the songs for the past two weeks, and in a second it’ll be your chance to have a say.

Xavier Benchek: During each performance, a star will appear with the brightness of the star depending on how many people are voting for it at that time. If you’re voting on the app, you will have a total of 12 votes in total and you can use them all on one act or spread them across all acts. You can spend all those 12 votes now, during each performance or after you’ve watched all performances…it’s completely up to you!

Alyxhia Willis: After closing the lines, we will then announce the two winners of this Semi-Final who will go directly to the final in Doportedas on the 30th April. Britonish votes make up 50% of the final score. For the Britonish half, there will be a slight difference. The Britonish televote will make up 75% of the vote, up from 25% - this means you have more power.

Xavier Benchek: 12.5% coming from a demoscopic jury made of people just like you made up of 620 people, each person representing 1 million people across Britonisea and Aloquirbe. 12.5% coming from a Britonish Jury of Industry and music professionals.

Matt Evans: Those that place 3rd and 4th will head to Kyvivre on the 16th April for the Battle Stage where they will be put into pairs, and judged by international juries from Scotatrova, Axuva and South Batoko - with each of the winners qualifying to the Grand Final to meet the 6 direct to finalists and Josh Morris, our automatic finalist this year!

The three hosts took a huge breath after they explained the format changes. As they finished, they all looked at one another.

Alyxhia Willis: Well, I guess the only thing left to do now is open the votes…so…Britonisea…

ALL HOSTS: START VOTING NOW!

Who will qualify?: A great lineup ahead for the First Semi-Final of Vha Mehlodhivestoile...but who will last long enough to get to Doportedas?

As colour filled the arena, the television audience was cut away to a graphic that appeared on the screen of the running order for tonight’s show. As we saw this Xavier started to speak.

Xavier Benchek: You can vote via the Mehlodhivestoile 2022 app, or you can vote by calling 0141 2340 22 and the number of your preferred act. You can also vote by texting "WIN" to 623 22 and then the number of your preferred act. For example, if you wanted to vote for act 1, it's 0141 2340 2201. Calls cost 20p and texts cost 15p but that might vary based on your provider. Please ask the billpayer’s permission.

Matt Evans: Each vote we get through text or phone call is equal to four app votes - which is free… Once you’ve run out of app votes, you can no longer vote - you get 12 app votes. You can vote a maximum of 12 times on text and 12 times on call. You don't have to vote as the acts perform and can wait until the end, but the star will react to live reactions - so it's up to you!

Alyxhia Willis: Right, we’re already running late so let’s get going. The first performance of the night is…Claudia Ferrari with her song “Invincible” - let’s take a look at her journey to VM2022…

Tune: Robin Packalen - Rest in Beat

Feeling green with envy,

After you, you told me you loved me
Where does that leave us?

(So tell me where does that leave us?)
Thought you loved me,
I..I thought you wanted me.
No, you’ve left me green with envy.

At the end of Rocco's performance, we reach the mid-way point of hearing all of the songs competing for a place in the final on the 30th April. The audience came in with applause as one of the hosts reappeared on the screen. It was Alyxhia Willis sitting next to Claudia Ferrari.
Alyxhia Willis: Wow, what a fantastic show so far - that last performance was Rocco Verlice with his song, "Envy"! Right now I am joined by the wonderful Claudia who had the honour of opening Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2022! Now, darling - tell me how did it feel performing in front of around 10,000 people!?

The audience start cheering really loudly which had Claudia laughing to herself. She waited for the audience to slightly calm down before she replied to Alyxhia's question...
Claudia Ferrari: It was absolutely amazing, wow! I really felt as though I was at WorldVision or somewhere singing my heart out. The crowd is amazing, by the way! So fantastic to see so many people here watching Vha Mehlodhivestoile in person!

The audience once again cheered at the kind sentiments from Claudia. She started waving around - she looked a bit taken aback by the thousands of people who were cheering after her.
Alyxhia Willis: Of course, and it's funny you say that because this very arena hosted the 81st WorldVision Song Contest which actually was the last time Britonisea hosted the competition and Kelsey Banques, who won Vha Mehlodhivestoile, performed there!

Claudia FerrarI: This arena also hosted the First Semi-Final of Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2020 too!

Alyxhia Willis: Alright, Claudia! Stop trying to steal my bloody job!

There were a few bemused chuckles in the audience before Alyxhia turns back around to the camera starting down at her...
Alyxhia Willis: Up next is EVOLUTION performing their song "The Beginning" - let's see how they got on...

Interval Act

Postby Britonisea » Sat Mar 19, 2022 2:20 pm

Continued Coverage of Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2022 in Boschke, Britonisea with your hosts Xavier Benchek, Alyxhia Willis and Matt Evans...
INTERVAL ACT
OPENING ACT // THE ACTS // HOW TO VOTE // PLAYLIST // INTERVAL ACT

Image
Acts for tonight: Who is going to qualify? After the Interval Act we will find out...

At the end of the performances, there was huge applause for all the acts. After interviews with some members of the act and a few reminders, the lines were officially closed. As they totalled up the scores, the interval act was introduced onto the stage.

Alyxhia Willis: Well, tonight we've got a treat in store! Alexandre Augustin nearly won Britonisea's second orchestral World Hit Festival title but came second in the end.

Xavier Benchek: But that didn't stop his success whatsoever! He's done fabulously in Britonisea, including reaching Top 10 in the Britonish charts for several weeks.

Matt Evans: Without further ado, let's welcome him onto the stage!

Image

Similarly to his performance in Todlichebujoku, Alexandre wore oversized clothing which actually quite suited the theme that he was going for. He also thought back to his life as a child where he would unlock some of the emotion deep within him. There wasn't much on the stage other than the piano and him. He was slightly lit up from underneath him which made him look rather ominous on the stage alone. Alexandre looked at the conductor as he started doing his thing. There was no need for a conductor this time with the performance being done to a backing track but the track sounded rich - almost as though the orchestra was in the audience with them.

Salut tous le monde, enchanté, nice to meet you
J’ai une histoire tragique, I’m sorry, c’est ma vie
Born in the summer haze, life just started for me
Un gamin qui ne savait pas que venirait

A year passed, I could walk, though I’d tremble, I’d still fall
J’tais innocent à l'époque, je n’ai compris pas
Sa vraie haine pour moi, so, everyday she’d weep.
Who knew one day she’d get up and walk out on me?

Hi everyone, enchanté, nice to meet you
I have a tragic story, I'm sorry, it's my life
Born in the summer haze, life just started for me
A boy who didn't know what was coming.

A year passed, I could walk though I'd tremble, I'd still fall
I was innocent at the time, I didn't understand
my mother's hatred for me, so every day she would weep
Who knew one day she'd get up and walk out on me?

Alexandre here was singing about the first couple of years of his life where he introduces that when he was still a baby, he didn't understand the emotions of who we can assume to be his mother, but noticed that she cried all of the time. He argues that his mother hated him and walked out on him (leaving him with his father). As he played the instrument, he didn't engage in much eye contact with the camera which was pointed at him. As Alexandre sang about "Sa vraine haine pour moi", his mother's real hatred for him, he closed his eyes shut with force as he thought about his mother. He doesn't have many memories of her and so it was a shame that the ones he did have were rather negative.

J’avais quelques amis quand j'étais petite, trois,
Je me souviens de leurs noms, James, Fi, Amy.
My only source of love, made me feel I belonged,
I thought this love would last, I was naive and wrong.

[A home] with plumes of cigarette fumes from infected lungs,
Where there was no escape, no locks on the doors,
With each creak on the stairs, you knew darkness beckoned
Je n’avais rien excepté l' espérance je survivrais ouais

I had some friends when I was small - 3
I remember their names, James, Fi and Amy
My only source of love, made me feel I belonged
I thought this love would last, I was naive and wrong

A home with plumes of cigarette fumes from infected lungs
Where there was no escape, no locks on doors
With each creak on the stairs, you knew darkness beckoned
I had nothing except the hope I would survive

The camera was focused on Alexandre, but you could still see the children behind him on the VM2022 LED behind him. If you wanted an example of how it looked, you could use Malta JESC 2020, but instead of looking quite juvenile (it was JESC after all), the drawings looked similar to this image instead. Alexandre on the drawings behind him looked young, fresh-faced by shy. The three children smiled as he sang, "My only source of love". As he continued, you could see that the three friends that he had slowly disappeared before the screens behind him zoomed out to show Alexandre from a birds-eye view in the middle of a crowd of people - but no one was near him, almost as though people created a no-go ring around him. As we moved onto the second part of the verse, "with plumes of cigarette fumes", the screens behind Alexandre completely was covered with smoke before we saw a picture of a normal chocolate box house that we could say was the house in which Alexandre grew up in. You could see the fumes coming from the window as he sang about it. The door then opened, before the drawing made us zoom straight into the house to the staircase which was near the entrance. We then looked up at the drawing of the stairs - with it looking as though the stairs were metres into the air - like a staircase to heaven. There was then footsteps on the stairs on the drawing which kept on going. There was then a shot of Alexandre as he playing, with him turning to the audience as he sang "Je n’avais rien excepté l' espérance".

Est-ce que tu vois les ecchymoses?
Est-ce que tu vas faire quelque chose? I think not.
I’ll survive this on my own, like I have done, all alone.
Never needed your help, I can rise ‘bove the rest.
I’ll soar high in the sky, when I’m older you will cry,
At the sight of how beautiful I will become.
From the ugly caterpillar that I once was to
The brightest, most magnificent butterfly.

Va te faire foutre, those who sort to drag me down.
Look at me, here on this stage many years later.
There’s no more to say to you, except these few words,
You failed, I’m stronger, encore une fois, enchanté.

Yesah can you see the bruises? Will you do something about it? I think not
I’ll survive this on my own, like I have done, all alone.
Never needed your help, I can rise ‘bove the rest.
I’ll soar high the sky, when I’m older you will cry,
At the sight of how beautiful I will become.
From the ugly caterpillar that I once was to
The brightest, most magnificent butterfly.

Fuck you to those who sort to drag me down.
Look at me, here on this stage many years later.
There’s no more to say to you, except these few words,
You failed, I’m stronger, once again, enchanté.

Alexandre aggressively hit the piano as he asked the first question with passion. Here he was speaking about the bruises that were on his skin. After the lyrics he sang before, one could begin to infer that he was abused when he was at home. Here, Alexandre sings about how despite people noticing the bruises that he had on his skin - nobody was going to do anything about it. There was a shot further away after it had gotten closer and closer throughout the last section. This part showed lights at the end of the stage section closest to the audience. Strobe lights were shining up towards the roof of the hall - creating a cage effect between Alexandre and the audience that were sat watching him. He slightly raised his voice as he sang those questions, especially as he moved to "I think not", saying it with conviction and emotion as he remembered how he would feel when no one thought to do anything about this boy. While child protection services in Britonisea are considered good, the fact no-one spoke might have been down to his father's position in the community - though Alexandre had never gone into his opinion on why no one spoke up for him. As Alexandre continued to sing, getting more agitated at the line, "I'll soar high in the sky", there was a camera shot of Alexandre, who was now sitting in a certain position to make it seem as though the screen was clearly behind him. Wings appeared on the screen behind him, with Alex slightly tilting his hair backwards - raising his voice to make sure that he could be heard. The wings looked as though they appeared right behind him as though they were attached, though as he sang the lyrics, "most magnificent butterfly", the wings moved from behind his back across the screen - revealing a beautiful butterfly, which gained colour as it zoomed from behind Alexandre to the left of the screen (the first bit of colour we have seen on the screens). Due to hologram technology, the butterfly which was on the screen came off the screen before flying over the audience - a beautiful, multi-coloured butterfly - red and orange in the colour of the Britonish flag. At the end of the "chorus", there was then another shot of Alexandre from close up.

I was eight, got my first A on l’examen d’Anglais,
I was so proud of it, and I thought you would be too.
I took it home to show you, through the thunderstorm and rain
Snatched it from my hands, ripped it along with my heart.

Zut alors, pourquoi est-ce que je mérite ça?
J’ai été bon pour toi, jamais problématique!
Je dois chercher pour un chez sûre, loin, loin d’ici
Quelque part loin de toi, je suis désolé, adieu.

I was eight, got my first A on l’examen d’Anglais,
I was so proud of it, and I thought you would be too.
I took it home to show you, through the thunderstorm and rain
Snatched it from my hands, ripped it along with my heart.

Oh my, what did I do to deserve this
I have been good to you, never problematic
I need to find safety from far, far from here
Somewhere from you, I'm sorry adieu

After the butterfly flew away off the screen and things had calmed down, the camera was still looking at Alexandre as he looked down. During the chorus, it seemed as though another pianist was being played because it seemed much richer - especially in comparison to when he was playing alone as he sang "I was eight,". As Alexandre continued his life story, the camera slowly zoomed out on his face which was more lit than the verses before and the screens behind him were now being interactive with what was being sung. The camera quickly cut to another shot of Alexandre, now from just over the audience, facing upwards slightly. The lights around the arena flickered, simulating a thunderstorm. The screen behind Alexandre showed the top half of a young boy (who started to a bare resemblance to Augustin) walking through the rain. His hair looked soaked, and it also looked as though he was holding something under the jacket that he was wearing. We then moved on to the next paragraph with a drawing of a man sitting down a chair as the boy walked in the chocolate box house that we saw earlier in the performance. There was then shots of Alexandre shouting at his father, with streaks coming from Alexandre's cartoon behind him to show that he was shouting. Here, the flickering lights had stopped before the colours that were used on the strobe lighting turned slightly orange and purple.

Started lycée at 10. I knew nobody.
I was that boy who didn’t speak, labelled a freak
Et j'ai toujours été victime d’intimidation,
Je te reproche, tu aurais pu faire mieux

Tu aurais pu me sauver, but where were you?
Knecking your tenth shot of rum with your prostitutes.
“Tu tiens à moi ou pas? Est-ce que tu m’aimes, papa?”
The words I shouted out to you when…

Started secondary school at 10, I knew no one.
I was that boy who didn’t speak, labelled a freak
And I was always bullied
And I blame you [dad], you should have been better

You should have saved me, but where were you?
Knecking your tenth shot of rum with your prostitutes.
Do you care for me or not, do you love me papa?
The words I shouted out to you when...

We then moved on to the next part of the performance when he sang about starting secondary school. As you can tell, we are slowly making our way throughout his live - he was now 10 years old but he was speaking about his school experience which was bad. Alexandre was picked on at school for being a bit odd - which mostly was done to his troubled upbringing and not having the stability that he really needed. The screens behind him showed a group of boys who surrounded him. The young, now 10, Alexandre Augustin's cartoon stood in the middle of the screen right behind Alexandre who was playing the piano still. These boys all looked larger than him, with the screens behind him showing this by making Alexandre look increasingly small compared to the ever-growing bullies. These boys had mean faces, pointing their fingers directly at Alexandre before they turned around (as the cartoon Alexandre faded away) to look at the real-life Alexandre, pointing and laughing at him as Alex turned to look at the audience. There was a shot of Alexandre's face close up as he turned, looking emotional as he remembered when he was ambushed by a group of boys at 10. This made Alexandre filled with rage, evident on how he raised his voice as he said, "Tu aurais pu me sauver", really emphasising the "But where were you?". In the meantime, you could see a picture of Alexandre sitting on the right side of the screen with a phone in his hand - one of those flip phones since this was set in 2010 - whereas on the left of the screen you could see the chocolate box house drawing again. This time you could see women dancing in the windows before they both turned around to shut the blinds. The screen then faded away as we focused now on Alexandre. There was a camera shot which swung from the left of the arena to the right with the heads of the audience being shown. He then moved onto the next part of the song, a really personal account of his father.

When...you took your last chance, yes you did, your final performance.
You were entranced, as you whispered softly “putain”
Watched you slip to the floor, I called an ambulance
Tu me regardais toujours avec répugnance

I was there, by your side, when you had no one else
I held your hand with love, despite all of your flaws.
I knew you cared ‘bout me, cared ‘bout me deep within.
All these years you made me believe I wasn’t good.

When...When...you took your last chance, yes you did, your final performance.
You were entranced, as you whispered softly “putain”
Watched you slip to the floor, I called an ambulance
You still looked at me with repugnance

I was there, by your side, when you had no one else
I held your hand with love, despite all of your flaws.
I knew you cared ‘bout me, cared ‘bout me deep within.
All these years you made me believe I wasn’t good.

During the above section, we quickly cut to a shot of Alexandre close up so that you couldn't see the rest of the stage. We firstly started by panning down from the lights on the roof, before slowly going down the screen - where you could see a picture of his father holding his chest in agony, though we didn't see much of it - that was for the audience in the hall to see. We then saw Alexandre now looking at the camera as he hit the keys on the keyboard with power and with more aggression than he did before. The sounds of people singing under him were also heard, with backing singers now appearing on the stairs, laying on their sides - all of them - with a few steps to separate them all. The camera slowly trailed its way down the body and leg of Alexandre before it showed the stairs of the people laying down with their eyes glued towards the screen. All of the singers were wearing similar attire to Alexandre.

Regardez-moi, look at the boy that I’ve become,
Can’t you say you’re proud as you leave me parentless?
Allow me to feel love, et ouais je t'en supplie.
Admets-le, admets-le, admit you did love me.

You turned to me and smiled, a tear streamed from your face
Your cheeks blushed a rose red I’d never seen before.
You squeezed my hand quite tight, was this what it felt like?
Was this the paternal love which you hadn’t shown.

Look at me look at the boy I’ve become,
Can’t you say you’re proud as you leave me parentless?
Allow me to feel love, and yeah I'm begging you
Admit it, admit it, admit you did love me.

You turned to me and smiled, a tear streamed from your face
Your cheeks blushed a rose red I’d never seen before.
You squeezed my hand quite tight, was this what it felt like?
Was this the paternal love which you hadn’t shown

During this section, the screens weren't being used. We had reached the climax of the performance here and so the cameras were doing a tiny bit more work, coming from different angles in order to show Alexandre's expressions from different angles. You could see that Alex was hurting pretty badly, with his cheeks turning a burning hot red. The backing singers got increasingly louder as they continued to sing, which helped add to this very intense moment. Here, Alexandre is singing about the hospital bed in which is father stayed in. He begged his father to let him know that his father loved him. It seemed as though Alex's words to his father actually got through to him as, for the first time in Alexandre's living memory, his father had shown some love towards him. Alexandre continued to sing, "opened your mouth to speak; what were you going to say?", looking at the camera - fantastically catching his cue there. Though as we finished singing "all these years gone" we had finally reached the peak of the song with the camera cutting to the strings section of the orchestra pit. Those who played the instrument furious bowed that final note which caused an echo in the hall. The staging, which had some lights which slowly were increasing in intensity as we moved to the end quickly turned off, plunging the whole stage into darkness.

Opened your mouth to speak, what were you going to say?
Were you finally ready to set the record straight?
You took a deep breath in, your eyes full of guilt
That you could no longer hold in from all these years gone.

Alas, it was too late. Your grip grew much weaker.
You faded away, don’t go yet, my father.
I had no mother, I now had no you too.
I had no one at all, nothing at all was mine.

I cried for months, I did. I was just so alone.
I thought I could do all of this, all on my own
But I was only fourteen, I was just a child.
God, why did I have to have this tragic life?

Opened your mouth to speak, what were you going to say?
Were you finally ready to set the record straight?
You took a deep breath in, your eyes full of guilt
That you could no longer hold in from all these years gone.
Come on papa, say something. Do you care for me?
Do you love me dad? Do you love me, tell me?

Alas, it was too late. Your grip grew much weaker.
You faded away, don’t go yet, my father.
I had no mother, I now had no you too.
I had no one at all, nothing at all was mine.
I cried for months, I did. I was just so alone.
I thought I could do all of this, all on my own
But I was only fourteen, I was just a child.
God, why did I have to have this tragic life?

As we plunged into darkness at "Alas, it was too late", Alexandre's voice croaked amongst the darkness. Slowly, a burning red heart provided some of the light on the stage. The sombre lighting that we saw at the beginning off the performance which was coming from below him - off to the side - came back slowly as he continued to sing. Alexandre was bearing singing the words, it was almost as though he couldn't bare more than just speaking, whispering the words he had to. You could feel how fragile Alex was feeling as he recalls losing his father - which to him was like losing the only thing that was his. He then goes on to speak about how he coped with his father's demise, with a range of close up shots being used in order to show Alex who - while he wasn't crying - definitely looked visibly upset. He was the only person on the stage as well with the singers leaving earlier. You could only hear Alexandre during that final verse - pure and raw emotion. As he reached the end of that section, he shouted out to the sky, "God, why did I have to have this tragic life", with the lights around the stage suddenly becoming very intense.

Alexandre got up from his position at the piano with the pianist in the orchestra pit taking over from here. Alexandre starting walking down the steps of the stage, holding his head up high as he sings in French. There was a camera which followed Alexandre from the sides of the stage. As he sang, the young man was doing hand expressions with his free hands, such as putting his hand over his heart when singing about how he hadn't been love, or pointing below when singing about hell and back etc. By the time Alex had reached the final stanza of his poetic song, Alex stood in the middle of out circular walkway, closest to the audience. There was a low angle shot of Alexandre which slowly made its way up to catch his eye line. The final shot of this section was further away, slowly zooming into him as he sang about how he will still soar, how we will still shine. He sang the final words delicately as the lights in the arena were once again cut.

Donc je dois garder ma tête haute au dessus du ciel
No one can tell me there’s something I cannot do
I’ve been through thick and thin, I've been to hell and back.
I haven’t been loved, I’ve come to terms with it.

So to those of you who envy me, or hate me
You could do your worst to me, I’ll hurt no longer.
Je peux encore voler
Je peux encore briller
Dis bonjour au nouveau moi,
Encore une fois, enchanté.

So I need to raise my head above the sky
No one can tell me there’s something I cannot do
I’ve been through thick and thin, I've been to hell and back.
I haven’t been loved, I’ve come to terms with it.

So to those of you who envy me, or hate me
You could do your worst to me, I’ll hurt no longer.
I can still rise
I can still shine
Say hello to the new me,
once again, it's nice to meet you.

As Alexandre sang the "oooooo"s at the end of the performance, there was a single spotlight on him as he slowly made his way onto the floor as he sang the falsetto at the top of his lungs. As he went further and further down, he decided to curl up into a ball. The camera slowly backed away and arched itself down to make it seem as though it was him laying down in a cradle position amongst a sea of darkness with the only thing that you could see was the lights of the orchestra pit, the deep red lights of the strobes nearer the screen and the spotlight on him which by the end of the performance had faded away. The camera continued to zoom out slowly until we reached the end of the performance.

At the end of the performance, it was time to find out the first of tonight's qualifiers...

Meet Claudia Anne-Davies

Continued Coverage of Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2022 in Boschke, Britonisea with your hosts Xavier Benchek, Alyxhia Willis and Matt Evans...

After speaking to the rest of the wonderful acts of the Semi-Final and other things that happened in the show, it was time for business! Who was going to qualify from the Semi-Finals? Well, we are a about to find out. Lewis Schmit was the executive producer for Vha Mehlodhivestoile for quite some time and it was suggested that had BVC managed to win the World Hit Festival Overseership for the third time, it would be Lewis who became the new overseer. However, that didn't go ahead. Lewis has moved on from Vha Mehlodhivestoile, and so Claudia is the new Executive Producer for the hit show.

Alyxhia Willis: Right, so with all of that out of the way, it is now time to get on with the most important part of the show...the results! I am sure all of you at home are on the edge of your seats waiting to find out who qualified.

Matt Evans: I certainly am, I just don't know who's going to qualify out of this talented bunch.

Xavier Benchek: Exactly! In order to confirm the results we must speak to the executive producer of Vha Mehlodhivestoile and we have a new face in town!

Matt Evans: Let's give a huge round of applause and a warm welcome to...Claudia Anne-Davies!

Alyxhia Willis: Hello, Claudia!

Image
The Future of Vha Mehlodhivestoile: Claudia takes over from Lewis to become the Executive Producer of Vha Mehlodhivestoile - will she be as successful?

Claudia Anne-Davies: Hello, everybody! Thank you all for the wonderful applause!

As she said this, the audience starting to cheer even louder than they were cheering before, supporting the new Producer.

Alyxhia Willis: How has your new role as the Executive Producer of Vha Mehlodhivestoile been so far?

Claudia Anne-Davies: It has certainly been stressful, I'll tell you that! It's been great to see the show coming together, though.

Matt Evans: ...And do we have a result?

Claudia Anne-Davies: Hold your horses Matt! Don't you want any statistics?

Matt Evans: Oh yes!

There were a couple of "wooo"s in the audience as Claudia jokingly rolled her eyes at an overly excited Matt Evans...

Xavier Benchek: Take it away, Claudia!

Claudia Anne-Davies: Well this time seven nations voted in this Semi-Final, slightly lower than the usual eight. Scotatrova, StrayaRoos, Beepee, Todlichebujoku, Filshia, Polkopia and Kalosia made up the international jury this time. The Britonish Televoters didn't agree with the International voters, with the Britonish televoters actually voting very differently to that of the International televoters. There is a very clear difference between how Britons vote and how internationals vote and that has had an impact on the overall score.

Matt Evans: Oh how interesting.

Claudia Anne-Davies: Absolutely. I'm sending those results to you...

There was a little pause as Claudia sends those points to the hosts, with the audience cheeringly gently.

Xavier Benchek: Thank you, Claudia. Received...

Continued Coverage of Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2022 in Boschke, Britonisea with your hosts Xavier Benchek, Alyxhia Willis and Matt Evans...

Xavier Bechek: Tonight, we have received votes from 1.4 million unique voters through app voting, calling and SMS - with over 12 million votes to decide the Britonisea's 50%. Remember, this edition, Britons have much more say than they did in previous years. In Semi-Final 1, 560 points were distributed and it was close race to the finish. I am going to announce the first Grand Finalist. This act finished either 1st or 2nd overall. You'll be able to find out where they placed after the Grand Final on the 30th April... Right.

There was shouting from the audience as people started to cheer for their favourite act. Tonight, the songs were divisive with people have a wide range of opinions of who should go through and you could hear that.

Xavier Benchek: I can announce that our first Grand Finalist is...

"V'AGROS DE FLOS"
CHARLOTTE'S PARTY

Image
Zero to Hero: After coming last place in the Semis last time they participated, Charlotte's Party either finished 1st or 2nd in this time around!

The pair of them celebrated before Xavier invited them to the stage so they could reprise their song...

Men and women march through the bloodshed in unison.

TOULOUSE is trying to avoid another year in the Semis after they came 5th a couple of years ago. The Elejamie international act are hoping to solidify their impact in Britonisea. Jairo Allen received a load of listens of his songs on streaming platforms, while EVOLUTION hopes a boyband can get to the finals. It is time to find out the final act who has qualified...

Live Coverage of Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2022. LIVE from Boschke, Britonisea with your hosts Xavier Benchek, Alyxhia Willis and Matt Evans.

A grand total of 10.14 million people tuned in to watch Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2022, making the show the 28th most-watched broadcast out of 43 shows (including Euvenoures). For a series premiere, it was the lowest so far, but we are seven editions into the lifespan of the show, and Vha Mehlodhivestoile will be up for review when BVC bosses decide whether Vha Mehlodhivesotile can go on for another seven editions. Regardless, 10 million represents one of the largest audience pulls of the year so far, and alongside that 1.4 million individual people voted in the Semi-Final, making up a total of 12 million votes which is as high as ever. Charlotte's Party and TOULOUSE qualified from Semi-Final 1, making it the first time in Vha Mehlodhivestoile (19 semi-finals so far) that a solo artist didn't qualify directly to the Grand Final. Both acts have participated in the contest before, with both of them experiencing not making it through to the next round and so this moment must have provided sweet relief for them. The show, in general, was entertaining according to the press around the country but they could tell that BVC were cutting things back and suggested that the performances weren't of high quality as they have been in past years. BVC said that they had a very strict plan for Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2022 and wouldn't spend as much as they have done in the past. This also included raising the price of the tickets - but luckily not enough for people not to buy tickets to watch the event.

In Eaux City, the Ice Hall was jam-packed with people for the Second Semi-Final. It was expected that there would be a spike in televiewers, with this Semi-Final being the most anticipated one. While Semi-Final 2 artists haven't won for quite some time in the competition's history, Semi-Final 2 has Mehkl Maddox-Ajax in it - a former Vha Mehlodhivestoile winner fighting alongside KAYLEY. There are also some performances from recognisable people including Rigas Jengiz, ELLA and the brother of World Hit Festival winner Dean Boyst - Daniel! As the clocks struck 20:00 in Britonisea, the theme tune for Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2022 begun!

Starting with the hosts: The hosts introduce the show before the Opening Act...

Usually, as soon as Vha Mehlodhivestoile opens, a performance happens straight after the opening title, however, this show was a little bit different, with the hosts appearing on the screen. We were starting with a host intermission...
Xavier Benchek: Hallo, wilkom! Thank you all for joining us for the second Semi-Final of the Multiverse’s best national final, Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2022. I am Xavier Benchek…

Matt Evans: I’m Matt Evans

Alyxhia Willis: I am Alyxhia Willis and boy am I looking forward to what is expected to be a terribly exciting and blood pumping round of the contest!

As Alyxhia said this, there was a shot of the audience cheering loudly. The Ice Hall looked like a very wide arena, and made the contest seem huge - and indeed it was. It was being held in a venue fit for the WorldVision Song Contest. Maybe Eaux City could host it one day?

Matt Evans: We’ve got some big names participating that’s for sure. Last week we saw Charlotte’s Party and Rocco Verlice make it through the Grand Final in Doportedas...

Xavier Benchek: Yep, with Claudia Ferrari making it through to the Battle Stage alongside TOULOUSE who went to the battles once again.

Matt Evans: This evening, eight more acts will take it to the stage and only four of them will make it to the next round – 2 going directly to the final.

Alyxhia Willis: And what a treat that would be. With the rising petrol prices, it saves them a lot of money not having to take a detour to Kyvivre.

Xavier Benchek: Now Britonisea is searching for its eighth win at the WorldVIsion Song Contest. Todlichebujoku has us tied at 7th and Polkopia most recently won their…10th contest making Britonish hopes of becoming the best at WorldVision more and more of a dream.

In the background, there was clips of the most recent WorldVision Song Contest in Beepee. You could see Britonisea's act winning 92 points - which put the nation in the lead for quite some time. You could then see the Polkopian act winning the contest and a couple of seconds of her reprise.
Matt Evans: But fear not, we have Vha Mehlodhivestoile up our sleeves! Vha Mehlodhivestoile winners have produced no less than four WorldVision winners, did you know that?

Xavier Benchek: Really?

Matt Evans: Absolutely – Mini Surrey North, she of course won in WorldVision 47…

Xavier Benchek: mmmhm, okay!

Matt Evans: Taron Woods won too, he won WorldVision 63 after winning Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2018.

Xavier Benchek: Oh right…

Matt Evans: Kelsey Banques in 2020 managed to win WorldVision 81 in Boschke, which was the last WorldVision under the Old System. We won with 154 points then!

During this section, we could see the acts performing in Vha Mehlodhivestoile before cutting to them winning WorldVision also, appearing behind them on the screens.

Xavier Benchek: I remember that banger…

Matt Evans: And the last one…hmmm I wonder who that could be?

Alyxhia Willis: Me, of course, you dimwits! I won in Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2019 and I went on to win WorldVision!

Xavier Benchek: Lol, you won WorldVision?

Alyxhia Willis: Well…um…of course I did! Those blaring trumpets from Izmedu, as catchy as they were, weren’t enough to catch me. Luckily.

Xavier Benchek: Could you remind the audience of your wonderful song? It has been three years…

Alyxhia Willis: I mean, I could…but there was this other song that I would love to get the chance to sing again…

Xavier Benchek: Oh and what is that?

Alyxhia Willis: Well, I represented us in WorldVision 67 with the song, “You’ve Wanted Me” and to be honest, that nearly won also – it came second!

Xavier Benchek: Gosh! We need to see you at WorldVision again…

Matt Evans: I’ll tell you what Alyxhia, whilst Xavier and I go and fetch the numbers needed for tonight’s show, why don’t you give us another listen to your wonderful song, “You’ve Wanted Me”!

As the lights went down in the arena everything was silent and the camera slowly moved forwards over the heads of the audience. A few spotlights focused on her. The intro to the song could be heard before Alyxhia started to sing as she turned her head towards the ever-beckoning camera. The men stood in a tableau, not moving an inch.

You now have entered my lair,
Close and lock the door.
I have been expecting you, boy.
For too long I have been alone,
Oh, cure my loneliness
Nightmares will disappear.

During the first verse, Alyxhia moved her neck in fierce and sassy movements as that camera came closer and closer to her. Singing “close and lock”, she made a gesture with her hands symbolising somebody using a key to lock the door. At the end of the first verse at “Nightmares will disappear”, she leaned her back over the edge of the lounge chair, moving her free hand over her forehead as though she was the damsel in distress. In the very short vocal break between the verse and the buil-up to the first chorus, the cameras cut between each other at a very fast pace - similar to this effect before a sudden change in the song. Alyxhia quickly sat herself up on the lounge chair as the colours on the stage matched the colours on the lounge chair and her dress. The men all around her had moved positions, all moving to each corner of the chair facing their bodies towards Alyxhia (who, of course, was sitting upwards in the middle of the chair). Alyxhia crossed her legs, swaying her shoulders along with the beat of the song; coming forwards everytime the beat caught her.

There’s been a few frogs that I have kissed but to no prevail,
And for years and years I’ve been let down, I’ve been betrayed.
You have watched me from a distance going through heartbreaks,
You are my solution now,
Boy, you are the one.
You are the one.

When singing “going through heartbreaks”, she moved her hands over her heart, while doing a hurt expression over her face. She then slowly stood up as she sang “You are my solution now”, After the “Boy, you are the one” line, there was another dramatic break. Here, fire from all corners of the arena shot into the air, with Alyxhia standing with one of her hands on her hip. Cameras switched from the ones furthest away in the arena to close up as fire lit up the arena. Before singing the chorus, there was an extreme close-up on her, before the camera rapidly zoomed out on the stage. She then started to sing the chorus of the song for the first time. As she sang “You have” a large puff of glittery pyros shot from behind her. She continued singing the chorus while swaying her hips and reacting to her own lyrics that she was signing.

You have got what I have always wanted,
Got what I have always wanted.
And yes, I was too blind to see,
That you’ve wanted, that you’ve wanted
You’ve wanted me.

Got what I have always wanted.
Oh, got what I have always wanted.
And I was too ignorant, to
To see that you’ve, to see that you’ve,
You’ve wanted me.

She started to sing the next verse, which was much shorter than the first. She traced her hand down her face and body during the upcoming verse - with one camera slowly following where her fingers went. She then suddenly stopped, cueing the next shot to happen - right in time for the next pre-chorus of the song.

You’re packed with all my desires,
Adonis in disguise,
And your eyes scream for me.

Alyxhia then stood up and walked around to the dancers who were behind her. She looked at the camera, with the tip of her tongue slowly brushing against the far corner of her lips.

Let our bodies, let our souls meet for the very first time.
And feel the tenderness of your lips pushing on mine.
Then let us create a beat, a song, with our movements.
You are my solution now,
Boy, you are the one -

As the last line of the pre-chorus came up, the backing singers made sure to come in at this part as the chorus came in straight after and we didn’t want Alyxhia too choke on her words. Alyxhia took a large breath before coming in at the end of the pre-chorus. A camera came from above her, with her eyes meeting it as the stage exploded in to the chorus, with all of the colours filling up the arena. Alyxhia continued to sway along with the music like in the other chorus.

You have got what I have always wanted,
Got what I have always wanted.
And yes, I was too blind to see,
That you’ve wanted, that you’ve wanted
You’ve wanted me.

Got what I have always wanted.
Oh, got what I have always wanted.
And I was too ignorant, to
To see that you’ve, to see that you’ve,
You’ve wanted me.

At the end of the chorus, all of the men had gone from behind her. She turned around and noticed that they were gone. A steadicam, one that came behind her, joined her as she turnd around. She smiled at the camera as the next part of the song came.

I love your love for me,
Make me feel like I am special.
Kiss me again - again, oh oh oh oh
Quick - before we are caught -
Show me the beast behind the cage,
Tell me that you’ve wanted me!

Standing on the lounge, she belted out the last line of the bridge (“Tell me that you’ve wanted me!”) before the camera quickly zoomed away from her. While it was initially intended to use a shower of sparks here, the BITC stage team thought that it wasn’t a great idea to use them since the performance before did.

You have got what I have always wanted,
Got what I have always wanted. (yeah, yeah)
And yes, I was too blind to see,
That you’ve wanted, that you’ve wanted
You’ve wanted me.

Got what I have always wanted. (yeah, yeah)
Oh, got what I have always wanted. (yeah, yeah)
And I was too ignorant, to
To see that you, to see that you,
You’ve wanted me.

At the end of the performance, the camera zoomed out on Alyxhia. As the audience started to applaud, she said out loud “Thank you, everyone! Thank you so much!” she said in to the microphone before she curtsied.

Continued Coverage of Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2022. LIVE from Boschke, Britonisea with your hosts Xavier Benchek, Alyxhia Willis and Matt Evans.

After that performance, the men were standing on a different part of the stage ready to open the lines...

Matt Evans: Wow! Thank you so much to Alyxhia for reminding us of that great song. I really loved it.

Xavier Benchek: It was great. Let's get down, let's get down to business however! In a moment, we will open the lines for voting. During each performance, a star will appear. The brightness of the star depends on how many people are voting for it at that time. If you’re voting on the app, you will have 12 votes in total and you can use them all on one act or spread them across all acts. You can spend all those 12 votes now, during each performance or after you’ve watched all performances…it’s completely up to you!

Matt Evans: After closing the lines, we will then announce the two winners of this Semi-Final who will go directly to the final in Doportedas on the 30th April. Britonish votes make up 50% of the final score.

Xavier Benchek: Those that place 3rd and 4th will head to Kyvivre on the 16th April for the Battle Stage where they will be put into pairs, and judged by international juries from Scotatrova, Axuva and South Batoko - with each of the winners qualifying to the Grand Final to meet the 6 direct to finalists and Josh Morris, our automatic finalist this year!

Matt Evans: So all that is left to do is...open those lines. Let's say it together, shall we?

BOTH: BRITONISEA! START VOTING NOW!

Image
Semi Final 2 is looking hot: Who will qualify out of Semi-Final 2, though?

Xavier Bechek:Y ou can vote via the Mehlodhivestoile 2022 app, or you can vote by calling 0141 2340 22 and the number of your preferred act. You can also vote by texting "WIN" to 623 22 and then the number of your preferred act. For example, if you wanted to vote for act 1, it's 0141 2340 2201. Calls cost 20p and texts cost 15p but that might vary based on your provider. Please ask the billpayer’s permission.

Matt Evans: Each vote we get through text or phone call is equal to four app votes - which is free… Once you’ve run out of app votes, you can no longer vote using that method. You can vote a maximum of 12 times on text and 12 times on call. You don't have to vote as the acts perform and can wait until the end, but the star will react to live reactions - so, again, it's up to you!

Xavier Benchek: The first performance of the night comes from Dimitris Aetos and Vha Mehlodhivestoile veteran, Rigas Jengiz - let's see how they have gotten on to prepare for this moment!
