Race Name: Ezohir
World of Origin: Sardon (rogue planet)
Territories: The space station Refuge, located in low orbit above the Earth; a colony situated in the Rocky Mountains
Race Appearance: The Ezohir are an avian race, described as resembling Terran ravens and crows the most due to their black feathers and beaks. Some, however, look more like falcons. They stand between 5'7" to 6'3" tall for males and 5'5" to 6' for females. Their eyes vary in color, from blue, green, purple, and gray. Their beaks hide a row of sharp teeth, which indicate that they may have originated from predators.
Description/Lore: The Ezohir hail from the world of Sardon, which is currently a rogue planet. Theirs is a sad tale of a race that had to contend with one of the greatest forces around in order to simply keep their existence: a star.

While most technically advanced races eventually unite into planetary unions and travel the universe with FTL engines, the Ezohir did not have this opportunity. During their modern age, they detected a star incoming towards their solar system, and it was projected to enter Sardon's orbital path, sending the planet off into deep space in the resulting gravitational anomaly. They had seen it at least a century in advance, but that was nowhere near enough time for them to develop faster than light, let alone build a fleet to evacuate their population..

The governments of their world came together to discuss a solution. It was decided that they could only prepare and save at least a portion of their species, and so artificial complexes, powered by nuclear and geothermal energy, were constructed to prepare for the apocalypse. Attempts were made to make space flight sustainable as well, but succeeded only in making self sufficient space stations and radio-resistant people.

The unwelcome star then came along, ejecting Sardon from its own parent sun's orbit. The population mostly perished, with the only survivors being those chosen to inhabit those bunkers, or the inhabitants of the stations that remained in orbit. Either way, hundreds of thousands out of the many billions still lived.

From then on, Ezohir society became stagnant, focused primarily on survival. Their now united government experimented with many; biotech, mad theories, anything that could somehow get them off their world. Alas, the stations created Ezohir with powers that could aid their inevitable trek through space. Many, many years went on, and the generators that had given the bunkers warmth and life began to fail due to sheer age; the bunkers perished at this time. The stations, even when they had docked together to pool their resources, began to fall apart, with their remaining lifespans estimated to have been two more years at best were it not for the creation of superpowered Ezohir, whose fantastical abilities extended it to at least another quarter of a century. And yet, their calculations of reaching the nearest habitable planet, Earth, was near the threshold. A few days off the mark, and they all perish in the void.

So the last remnants of the Ezohir race, the ones who had remained in orbit for so long, took off to a different direction as soon as Sardon neared the Oort Cloud, aiming straight for the Sol System and the planet of Earth.

It was a strike of fortune, then, that the space station Refuge managed to reach Earth just three days away from completely running out of air. Had they come decades before, they may have all been shot to pieces by Earth's military, but present day humanity was not so ignorant of other races. The Ezohir explained their dire situation, and were granted refuge in low Earth orbit and a tract of land near the Rocky Mountains, on the condition that they will help Earth and its people.

And so, one year ago, the Ezohir had been saved from death by asphyxiation, and they owe mankind and all the allied races their lives.
Race Powers:
Some Ezohir are bioengineered to have varying kinds of abilities, originally to aid in their survival in space. These are usually given phytokinesis, ferrokinesis, and aerokinesis, though others have more peculiar powers.

As a whole, they have excellent night vision, and possess a high resistance against radiation as an artificial adaptation for living in space for centuries.

Race Limitations: Most Ezohir that go to Earth usually have to take muscle and bone densifying pills, which are not in vast supply. In addition to that, those who do adapt to Earth gravity will still suffer periodic symptoms of nausea and cardiovascular weakness. Only those infantile Ezohir that are being currently raised on Earth will be able to live in it with no complications.

If an unadapted Ezohir attempts to live on Earth without taking the necessary supplements, they will eventually start dying due to their cardiovascular systems being unable to withstand the gravity of a true planet. In such a scenario, they have to hastily return to orbit or die.
Race Weaknesses:
The average Ezohir is slightly weaker than an average human, and their glow in the dark eyes make stealth nearly impossible for them.

Additional info:
A station dwelling Ezohir's diet always has supplements at the side that help keep them somewhat healthy in the low gravity conditions they live in, but it is insufficient for planetary gravity.

Name: Nandras Varaget (simply goes by ‘Nandy’ when amongst humans)
Age: 18
Gender: A Dude
Race: Ezohir
Appearance: Birb

Nandras is 6'1", and has some runic tattoos inscribed on top of his beak.
Young Blood?: Not yet, but he often helps them out
Bio: Nandras was one of the Ezohir born during the Great Trek, which saw the space station Refuge leave Sardon's orbit to enter the Solar System. His parents were descended from the first bioengineered supes, whose powers had done a great deal in keeping the station operational far past its technical lifespan. For the first 18 years of his life he never set his eyes upon a true world, or felt the touch of fresh air. There was only the dim shine of artificial lights, constantly recycled air with oxygen derived from algae farms, and food that never tasted real.

Nandras, who inherited the ability to expand the scope of his own eyesight, lived in the regimented society of the station, rationing food, water, and even air for the inhabitants in an effort to keep the greater whole alive for as long as it takes to reach Earth. Despite all this, he had a slightly more privileged position in the station as one of those that had abilities; Nandras became a mechanic apprentice, charged with repairing damage with precision that even the ferromancers could not match. It was through the efforts of Nandras and others like him that kept the Refuge from dying before they arrived on Earth.

All in all, it took 30 years for the Refuge to go from the Oort Cloud and reach Earth. By the time they came, the station was only a few days away from total collapse, as air supplies were running critically low and even the best efforts of their phytokines could not restore the spent hydroponic farms to life. The Ezohir were granted asylum in low Earth orbit, and land near the Rockies was also leased to them as a place for the minority of Ezohir that were able to adapt to Earth's gravity. Nandras was one of these fortunate few, and worked as a engineer in the construction of the colony.

After a year, the settlement had become well established, and many of the Ezohir involved in its construction were now free to do what they wanted down here. Nandras in particular took a liking to those superteams, and often helped them out whenever he was passing by. It won't be long, however, before he decides to actually join one.
Powers:
  • [Ezohir Physiology]: Like the rest of his race, Nandras has high immunity against radiation, as well as excellent night vision.

    • [Zooming Sight]: Nandras is able to zoom his vision like a telescope in order to pick out tiny or distant targets. It is powerful enough to spot a rabbit from three miles away.
    • [Galvanic Rifle]: A single shot, breech loading weapon originally meant for hunting game. The rounds can penetrate right through brick.
    • [Machine Arms]: A pair of mechanical limbs sprout from a mounted backpack, one of which is armed with a mining laser capable of chipping through rock. The other arm has adaptable bladed instruments like a Swiss knife. Both of these have claws capable of grabbing or crushing objects up to the side of a baseball.
    • [Armored Suit]: Designed to protect the relatively frail Ezohir should they come into conflict. Nandras is encased in such a suit when in missions; it is bulletproof, though it cannot take on direct anti-tank weaponry.

Limitations:
  • Design flaws; The mining lasers are notoriously slow with actually cutting through things, as they were designed to be extremely precise.

Weaknesses:
  • [Gravitational Unease]: Though Nandras is one of the Ezohir that adapted well to Earth gravity, he still finds it hard to balance himself on the ground. As such, it is rather easy to make the birdman trip.

    • [Overload]: Should the suit be attacked with a torrent of electricity, the circuitry will begin overloading, destroying it from the inside out and necessitating ejection. It is also susceptible to EMPs.

Hey there, Zei-Aeiytenia. We're happy to see that you're interested in our roleplay. However, after deliberating, the other Co-OPs and I have decided that we cannot accept your character, or any future attempts at resubmitting an edited version of the same character. Quite simply, she has too much going on for us. Her bio, from the whole idea of diagnosing powers to the Stockton Melodic Massacre event, has a lot of aspects that don't really fit in with the world. Her powers are far too many and far too potent for the character to be balanced at all, even taking into account what limitations and weaknesses you wrote for her. And in general a deeply misanthropic character like this wouldn't quite mesh well with the rest of the cast.

However, you're free to try applying again with a completely different character concept if you so desire.

Race Name: Elaian
World of Origin: Uthar
Territories: Ten systems around their home system of Zraa.
Race Appearance:
Image

Description/Lore: Hailing from the world of Uthar, the Elaians are an advanced but magical race. Their magical power, strangely enough, comes from the star of their home system Zraa. For it was learned early on by those that worshipped the star in the past. That through a closed guarded ritual that one can connect oneself to the star, and in return, it will grant them the ability to use steller magic. Something that many Elaians started to worship the star and Zraa would be known as both the Mother Star or as some aliens would refer it as the Mage Star.

Through this newfound power and shared religion, you would think that this would be a unifying factor. It was somewhat, not all of the Elaian agreed with some tenets of the religion and actions of its leaders. Causing religious tensions started to grow. Until it escalated into what is called the Twilight War, which devastated the planet, it was only stopped when the reformist faction, with the support of other factions, won the war. Enacting the Celestial Accords that reformed the Zraa religion and brought peace to the planet.

Centuries later, after uniting under a single nation called the Uthar Commonwealth and expanding into the stars. The Elaians entered into a golden age as their technology advanced exponentially. Along with settling ten systems around Zraa and it was after this period of peace and advancement. That the Elaians discovered their first alien contacts. Well, two contacts, the Ollocons, and the Zivurians. Who at this point were at war with each other, and both were technologically inferior to the Elaians. Seeing a chance to gain an ally and an advantage over their enemies, Both sides started to court the Elaians and while the Commonwealth did not wish to intervene. Preferring to be a neutral party during the war and they would intervene on the side of the Zivurians when it was discovered that they were stealing technology from the Commonwealth. With two versus one, the war ended with the Zivurians winning, but it was revealed at the end of the war that the Zivurians not only stole Commonwealth technology but kidnapped several Elaians officials to force them to tell them how to perform the ritual that would give them stellar magic.

Neither to say what the Commonwealth's response was. The Commonwealth ordered the Zivurians to return the stolen tech and officials. When the Zivurians refused, war quickly started, and despite the efforts of the Zivurians using Commonwealth tech. The Commonwealth would win the war, and all stolen tech and officials were returned. However, this caused the leadership of the Commonwealth to declare themselves neutral in any future alien wars and become isolationists. Zealously guarding their borders and keeping a close eye on their neighbors so this will not happen again.

Which this proved to be effective and only broken once in the decades it was enforced. For several years ago, one Elaian by the name of Tenlos Yelkian, a former Zraa Priest and high ranking member of the Commonwealth, did the unthinkable and willingly gave Commonwealth tech to a war-torn foreign planet called Zenith. But, strangely enough, he had a change of heart and alerted his actions to Commonwealth before disappearing. Which the Commonwealth was able to recover their tech, but a large bounty was placed on Tenlos and his lover Vica Dhahle who is also wanted for several crimes she committed on Zenith while in the name of the greater good. Both of them have yet to capture and returned to Commonwealth space, but Commonwealth forces are still trying to find them.

Meanwhile the Commonwealth despite their isolationist stance, they still sent out scouts to explore the galaxy and have made contact with other races. Though their neutral and isolationist stance has not changed since meeting with several races like the Hadrians. Though they are willing to share their history with the Hadrians and some trading but that is it. As for Earth, while the Commonwealth has heard of it from the Hadrians. But, based on what they have heard, they treat it as a backwater and are not interested in making contact at this time since they are not a spacefaring race.

Race Powers: [Alien Physiology]: Elaians have enhanced strength and enhanced durability. Making him naturally stronger and more durable than a normal human. This can be increased when Elaian uses their magic to empower themself.

[Fight]: While not all Elaians can do this, for some Elaians. They are capable of limited flight as they can only fly for a limited time before they have to rest.

Race Limitations: They need a constant connection to Zraa to be able to use stellar magic, and this connection can be disrupted and either weakened the user or disable their magic completely. Along with having limited flight capabilities.
Race Weaknesses: [Magic less]: Without their magic, Elaians have limited capabilities to fight. Especially at range and forcing them to fight up close if without a ranged weapon.
Additional info: N/A

Name: Varo Yelkian
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Race: Elaian
Appearance:
Image

Young Blood?: Yes
Bio: Varo was never meant to live on Earth. The son of an exile whose crimes he is somewhat aware of and knows that his father regrets it immensely. An absent mother who he was taught never to trust if she ever shows her face. Varo and his father would have gone on their endless journey through the galaxy had their ship not been damaged by a group of pirates and forced to crash land on Earth. Landing on the outskirts of St.Louis. Varo was founded by the local superheroes in the wreckage and taken to a hospital.

There after waking up, he learned that his father had died during the crash, and he was all alone in a foreign world. Varo, after grieving for his father, was unsure of how to proceed. Not knowing of any other family he had and with only distant hints of where he was born. Varo ultimately decided to stay on Earth, at least for the time being. To get his thoughts together and figure out his next move.

While he tries to understand human culture and at times is still clueless about it. He could not help to think about the evil in it and the courageous actions of its heroes. It made him remember his father's path of atonement by helping whoever he can while traveling the galaxy. By watching his father be a hero and would even help when he was old enough. Even was taught by his father the way of magic that he used to help people. Varo thought long and hard before coming to a conclusion. With no home and a desire to honor his father's legacy. But not wanting to make the same mistakes that his father did. Varo decided on helping this world though he was not sure he would fit in with the superhero teams of Earth. But, Varo would find one he thought he could mesh well with, and from there, the rest was history.
Powers:
  • [Stellar Magic]: Varo's magic is tied to the star Zraa, the home star of his father's people. After undergoing a ritual to tie himself to the star's power. It granted Varo the ability to use its magic and can perform steller-based abilities. Such as sending out steller energy as projectiles, empower his physical attacks with steller magic, or call down steller blasts from above, and more. As long as his connection to Zraa is secure.
  • [Alien Physiology]: Due to his alien origin, Varo both has enhanced strength and enhanced durability. Making him naturally stronger and more durable just above anything a normal human can do. This can be increased when Varo uses his magic to empower himself.

Limitations:
  • There is a limit to how much stellar energy Varo can absorb and use. Especially when he chooses to empower himself with stellar energy. Use too much and he risks hurting himself and others near him.

Weaknesses:
  • [Constant Connection]: It is possible to dispute Varo's connection to Zraa, using magic to sense the connection and mess with it by focusing on the connection point on his body. Which is the back of his head. Or even a well-placed head injury could mess with his connection. It can weaken Varo's magic or disable it entirely.

Yeah, I understand. But, it would be nice to play as this char again and admittedly I do not tend to join late in rps but, this rp does have someone I know in here and I think I can handle being in this rp. If you guys are willing over my unsure actions.

Race app looks good, no changes needed on that front I think. For the character app if we could get one more weakness/limitation particularly as it pertains to his suit/tech that'd be appreciated.

Theyra wrote:Elaian and Varo

For the race app, could you expand a bit on the race's connection/relevance to Earth or any of the other alien races such as the Hadrians? They feel slightly disconnected at the moment.

For the character, is Varo and his father the only Elaian to come earth before? Also could you expand on the weakness a bit, how exactly can his connection with his magic be severed?

Okay, expanded on the race's relevance to Earth.

And yeah, Varo and his father are the only Elaians to come to Earth. And expanded on the connection with his magic. That better?

An app. I've been busy lately, and may not be able to write much, but I do like a good superhero story. Also, true story, back in the day when this started, I was toying with apping for this RP, but I chose another hero RP at that time that folded soon after. Bad mistake.

Name: Molly Shanahan (aka, "Jinx")
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Race: Human. Caucasian from Canada.
Appearance: (See right)
Image

Young Blood?: Not yet but may be soon
Bio:
Molly Shanahan grew up having whatever she liked. The daughter of a highly sought interior decorator and a banker, she was daddy's little princess all the way. Still, she became a fun-loving individual who also liked thrills.

During her times in school, Molly took up shoplifting occasionally to see if she could do it without getting caught. Unfortunately, she was caught after taking things from a department store, and sent home in a police car. That was the first sign that things were not going to go well with Molly. Her dad got angry, her mom got furious, and yelled that she should never shoplift again.

Her next time out was a few weeks later. This time, as she was about to escape the department store, she got caught in a bad situation. Armed robbers entered the store and tried to rob it themselves. In the scuffle with the robbers, an employee tried to stop them and got shot. The man died on the floor of the store, and Molly was shaken up, having never seen a death.

For some months, Molly was in a dark place head-wise. What had tripped her up was if she could have done something, and how even though she was trying to steal from the store too, she wasn't out to commit harm. It was more of a test for herself than anything, or at least, that's how she saw it. However, unbeknownst to her, this was also the crucial time when her abilities began to blossom. She began to notice before something bad was going to happen to her or near her. The teleportation ability blossomed in her mind so she could pick a target and find a suitable replacement of similar mass or weight to switch places. If, she reasoned, she could have gotten the cashier at the store to move to a safe spot, he would have lived. That helped her abilities become what they are.

Her parents caught on to what was going on with her. Eventually she told them everything. And they did their best to try to help her, but knowing that they were grossly under-equipped to help. Through discreet channels, Molly's parents tried to find a place that could keep Molly out of danger and help her use her abilities. They had come to San Francisco to look up one potential place, when the mayhem happened due to furniture on the attack and zombies. Molly was separated from her parents, and has been looking for them since, not knowing if they are dead or alive.

Powers:
  • [Teleportation Swapping]: Molly's main ability is a somewhat unique form of Teleportation. She can pretty much teleport anything on Earth of any size smaller than a building, and any weight smaller than a battleship: herself, other people, cars, hand-held items. (Teleporting a mountain, a continent, or a planet is impossible, obviously). The only problem is, there's a catch. Whatever she teleports, she has to make it so that it switches places with something near her that is roughly the same size or mass. A large NFL offensive tackle would probably not be able to be switched with a young child. In that sense, it is more rigid in the weight / mass distribution. (Though, she could swap a shrunken character who kept his mass in his small size, with a normal sized person of mass). This means, if Molly teleports herself somewhere, she has to switch places with someone else. This ends up being more of a switch or swapping of places, than it does a "normal" form of teleportation.
Here is another aspect of this ability. Whenever Jinx teleports people, they always are facing the same direction they were. Say, she sees a friend fighting an enemy. She teleports her friend and the enemy so that they have switched spaces, but are still facing the same direction they had been. That means when she does this, her friend and the enemy are now facing away from each other, and have to turn around.

  • [Danger Sense]: - What makes Molly difficult to fight and unpredictable is her Danger Sense. She has an acute sense of incoming danger moments before it takes action. She can sense if people are aiming guns at her, hurtling towards her at high speeds, about to do some kind of spell, etc. Because she has this sense, she often takes precautions and teleports away. Sometimes switching places with an attacker, even if he was a sniper 300 yards away. This is more than a simple "bad feeling" that something bad could happen. It is a more direct awareness of where the danger is coming from - and how fast.

  • [Mind Barrier]: Molly's Mind Barrier keeps all psionic activity out of her head. No mind warping, manipulations, psi-bolts or illusions will get through. Perhaps to her detriment, this also blocks all forms of telepathy and communication from friendly allies as well. Molly isn't really aware she has this power - because it's not like she hangs around with telepaths. It's always on, though she doesn't even know it.

Limitations (Reasons why your char can’t end the universe):
  • Molly's mind barrier cannot keep out telekinetically thrown objects.
  • All Molly can do is really teleport. There's no way she should be able to end the universe with just this.
  • Molly can only teleport one target at a time, switching it with something else. She can't teleport a whole group of people.
  • Molly's teleporting always involves a switch of two targets that have the same mass / weight. Without something of equal value to switch with, she can't use her power.
  • Dangers coming in at fast speeds can be detected, but perhaps not reacted to.

Weaknesses (Reasons why someone could kick their ass):
  • [Weak]: Molly has the strength of a normal teenager. In a normal fight without her teleportation, she'd probably get beaten up.
  • [Impulsive]: Molly sometimes leaps before looking, which can be a problem at times for group relationships.

Likes: Sometimes, Molly likes using some of the skills she learned in her past, like picking pockets and palming small objects. She's not a criminal - per se. She might just attempt these skills on those in her team, to see if she can still do them. She likes being on her phone, social media, that sort of thing. Driving fast.
Dislikes: Death. She has never gotten used to seeing people die. Also, certain types of personality will annoy her - such as those who are too straight-laced and won't think outside the box.

Never too late to rectify, eh? :P

Molly looks good! We normally discuss new apps in committee so we'll probably have to get back to you tomorrow, think OP is asleep now. But so far I can't see any glaring issues with her, looks like a balanced character.

I do have a few questions. For her danger sense, how acute is it? Does it allow her to know every time an enemy in front of her is going to throw a punch at her, or is it more just an ability to become aware of danger she was previously unaware of, but does not do anything about danger she's aware of? And about her teleportation swapping, how rigid is the mass equivalence part? Would all normal humans fall under the same mass category, or would she be unable to swap a particularly light person with a particularly heavy one?

I went back and edited some things. Molly's danger sense is pretty acute. It's more than just "I got a bad feeling about this." Instead, she can tell where danger is coming from, and how fast.
Her teleportation swapping is more rigid on the size / mass equivalence. She could not swap herself out with a large sumo wrestler nearby. But she could swap a shrunken character whose mass remained constant, with someone of similar mass.

Alrighty, that is good to know.

Regarding Molly's danger sense, I was more wondering how it interacted with danger she already knows about (ie an enemy in front of her). Just didn't express it well I suppose :P Want to know how close or far it is from actual precognition I suppose.

Hi Ausslaugand, unfortunately there are a lot of parts of this app that are somewhat problematic and that we don't think fit in with the community of this RP. The way things like underage sex, drug use, strange and inappropriate racial comments are handled is a way that personally I really don't appreciate and don't fit in with the tone of the RP. Because of this the app is rejected and we ask that you do not app again.

Sorry for the short post. Work drained a lot of my motivation but I have ample sit-down time now.

Will be finishing my other app soon.
