SA-13LW Short Range SAM

Postby Lauzanne » Thu Feb 24, 2022 4:28 am

SA-13LW WHEELED SHORT RANGE SAM

Image

OVERVIEW

Logistics in the modern battlefield is king. A vehicle without spare parts is useless in combat, and factories cannot split their production too much for fear of congesting supply lines. Lauzanne had to take all of this into account when modernising, seeing as they couldn't rely on Eastern sources anymore due to tense relations, but at the same time no Western country offered a truly universal chassis. As part of the modernisation, plans were drawn for the Army to be based around as few common chassis as possible: A tank/heavy combat vehicle chassis, a wheeled vehicle chassis for lighter mechanised units, a tracked chassis for mechanised infantry to support armour, and later an airborne-specific chassis for the Independent Airborne Brigade usage. Tenders were placed, with the requirement of sharing as many components as possible between the three AFV types and the armour. The W-Chassis was the first to be adopted, replacing old Soviet-era BTR's, OT-65's and BRDMs among others with a modern indigenous design built by the relatively new Schovajsa Heavy Industry.

With the exception of the Tor, the 9K35 "Strela 10" (NATO REPORTING NAME: SA-13 GOPHER) is the most common Surface to Air missile mounted on vehicles in the LDF. However, while the design was part of the initial lineup, it was rejected in favour of the Guardian-T and 9K330 Tor Systems. However, despite this rejection, the system is still available for sale in export.

The system is a short-range, infra-red guided missile launcher that only uses the radar present on the deployable mast to range targets, with a maximum range of 10km. The missiles themselves have a maximum range of 5km. Seeking is done by a combination of IR and electro-optical means, allowing the missiles to be used while minimising risk of detection and attack by aircraft carrying out Suppression of Enemy Air Defence missions.

The W-Chassis was the first to be adopted, replacing old Soviet-era BTR's, OT-65's and BRDMs among others with a modern indigenous design built by the relatively new Schovajsa Heavy Industry.

The M-11ADC "Rheostat" Air Defence Command Vehicle is designed to work alongside a given anti-air battery or battalion to better co-ordinate command, control and fire direction. Often paired with the Diode-T Early Warning radar, it can provide efficient fire direction, detection and and co-ordination of all gun and missile armed batteries under it's command. It also possesses networking capabilities to allow co-ordination with medium-range air defence missile systems as well as integration with battle management systems to give commanders a clearer picture of the battlespace.

M-10ADR "Diode-W" Air Defence Radar

M-10ADR "DIODE-W" AIR DEFENCE RADAR

Image

The W-Chassis was the first to be adopted, replacing old Soviet-era BTR's, OT-65's and BRDMs among others with a modern indigenous design built by the relatively new Schovajsa Heavy Industry.

One of the common features between the wheeled and tracked family is shared turrets, along with a shared engine family of varying displacements (the Orel LTD6-16, 12, 10 and 8 respectively) and many more components such as seats, vision blocks and more. This allows logistics personnel an easier time in replacing many components between the different families, as well as easing ergonomics and also allowing greater streamlining of parts in any given brigade.

Working alongside the Rheostat-W Air Defence Radar, the Diode radar system is designed to both unify and provide additional radar coverage for short ranged air defence batteries, primarily consisting of modified legacy Soviet designs, but with the new reforms mainly the Guardian and Tor systems. Equipped with high-capability computers, an APU to allow usage while not on the move and a ADR-21 "BLOCK HEAD" radar that can detect aircraft at a range of 80km, it allows for ample warning in detecting hostile incoming aircraft.

M-10T "Serval" Light Tank

M-10T "SERVAL" LIGHT TANK

Image

Seeing as tanks were too slow for the Light Mechanized Brigades to realistically follow, inspiration was taken from French wheeled armoured vehicles in designing a W-Chassis vehicle that could keep up with said units, but also provide fire support and anti tank capabilities. A 6x6 design was chosen under the design name SERVAL, and development started in earnest.

Equipped with a shorter barrel 2A46M cannon fitted with a muzzle brake, the Serval can fire much of the same ammunition as it's MBT cousin, the M-86. Although this leads to reduced APFSDS performance, it was shown that in the Spring War, the Serval mainly relied on ATGMs, MP ammunition and HEAT-FS, with only two dozen rounds of APFSDS being fired throughout the entire War. The main gun is fed through the same carousel as the M-86AM, without the larger ammunition present on the M-86B.

The Serval has similar thermal sights and the same electronics and fire control computer as it's MBT cousin, giving a high accuracy and quick firing capabilities. The gun is stabilised, and the vehicle possesses the ability to fire gun-launched ATGMs.

Protection is the same for the Serval, with the exception of the turret that is built to withstand 30mm cannon fire. The additional weight is balanced by the carousel.

RH-1 "Striga" Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter

Postby Lauzanne » Thu Feb 24, 2022 7:23 am

RH-1 "STRIGĂ" ARMED RECONNAISSANCE HELICOPTER

Image

OVERVIEW

As part of the AH-3 program to unify the Ka-52 and Mi-24 models into a single chassis to provide strong fire support, anti tank and secondary reconnaissance capabilities to the modernising LDF. To fulfil this need, two competing designs were introduced: The Sparrow and the Striga. Although the Sparrow won the AH-3 contest, the Striga was looked at to replace the aging fleet of Aerospatiale Gazelle helicopters currently used in reconnaissance roles.

The Striga is partially based off the LH-3 Strekulă, sharing the front FLIR, mounting points, fenestron tail, engines, landing gear and mast. These refinements made the helicopter vastly cheaper to make compared to the more complex Sparrow, but the lack of an integrated gun and heavyweight armament capabilities go against it's capabilities in the attack role.

With four fixed pylons that can have armaments attached as the situation requires, a versatile loadout can be selected depending on the mission. Most Striga crews in the Spring War generally used one set of Contender ATGM missiles, one gunpod and two rocket pods, allowing for a wide range of targets to engage. Such rocket pods were often enhanced by the S-8LM, a new-built rocket with moving fins and laser guidance, allowing pilots precision fires guided by the integral laser designator.

With a full glass cockpit & modern optics, the Striga has a high range to detect personnel, vehicles and emplacements, with BMS integration to allow commanders a direct feed to what the pilots can see. Modern, fast and integrated, the Striga is the flying eyes and ears of any unit, with the power to hit when it needs to.

D-2 "Sopyuk" MALE Drone

Postby Lauzanne » Sun May 15, 2022 12:31 pm

D-2 "SOPYUK" MALE UAV

Image

OVERVIEW

Having purchased the D-1 "Predator" drone from America to assist with the various counter-terror missions that the LDF embarked on, issues with a lack of Hellfires and no other compatible launch platform resulted in limited use for fire support, elimination of HVTs and other tasks that the Predator was purchased to do. In response, an open contract was put out for a new MALE drone that could match the characteristics of the D-1, with enhanced munitions capability. the Kozlice-Novograd Aviation entry won the bid, being introduced in 2014.

The D-2 "Sopyuk" (Lauzannean: "Vulture") is a medium-weight, high endurance propeller drone with a rear-mounted wing and engine layout. Most of the body is made from composites to keep weight and radar signature down, and the design itself is shaped to lower it's RCS and thermal emissions. It is propelled by a commercial engine and has two pylons for storing ordinance as the mission requires. Perhaps the biggest improvement to the D-1 design is a modular sensor package, allowing for changing between a laser designator and a small AESA radar as the situation requires, allowing for the drone to act as an artillery spotter and designator.

With such simplicity in mind, the design is cheap and easy to maintain. Sales come with a ground control station vehicle, allowing for both LOS and NLOS command methods.

M-15 "Stoat" Light Strike Vehicle

Postby Lauzanne » Mon Jul 11, 2022 3:07 pm

M-15 "STOAT" LIGHT STRIKE VEHICLE

Image

OVERVIEW

After studying special forces vehicles in use around the world, it was apparent that a very light, low cost and low maintenance vehicle was necessary for Airborne Reconnaissance Regiment members, along with the ever-mysterious Razvedka. Designed to fit within the MH-2 helicopter, the Stoat won the contract and was designated M-15.

The Stoat is a lightweight rear wheel drive vehicle built off of a commercial dune buggy concept, with a readily available civilian engine to power it and more height on the roll cage to allow for more passengers. There are also mounting points for machine guns or other weapons such as automatic grenade launchers, with a version capable of fitting ATGMs for precision fires and anti tank work.

Capable of carrying four people overall, the vehicle is ideally suited to raids, reconnaissance, motorizing special forces and low intensity guerilla warfare.

LF-2000 "Vrabnik" Light Fighter

Postby Lauzanne » Fri Feb 24, 2023 3:33 am

LF-2000 "VRABNIK" LIGHT FIGHTER

Image

OVERVIEW

With the Lauzannean Air Force needing enhancement in the late 1980's in a way that foreign airframes could not provide, the Novi Avion joint project had been a way for Lauzanne and Yugoslavia to enhance their air forces, increase trade and cooperation as well as grow closer militarily. The Refusal War of 1989-1991 cut off much funding from the Lauzannean side, but the next blow came with the collapse of Yugoslavia after the Refusal War's end, leading many designers and engineers to flee to neighbouring Lauzanne. The program was continued alone, with the additional personnel and French technical assistance leading to a 1993 First Flight. The LF-2000 was accepted into service in 1998, and fills out the bulk of the Air Force's squadrons, despite the more powerful Groza following on from this.

Equipping the Air Forces of Lauzanne and many of her allies, the LF-2000 saw major service in the Spring War and other smaller conflicts, earning a reputation for agility, excellent sensors and good bomb loads to support troops coupled with powerful missiles to defend against RSA air sorties. Additional targeting pods and other equipment allows the LF-2000 to accurately designate its own targets or ones for its friends, and the integrated IRST allows for it to passively search for threats without emitting.

Lightweight, low cost, agile and with powerful sensors, the LF-2000 is an easy fit for many air forces to fill out their air force with an excellent 4th generation light fighter.
