WORLD ARENA SPORT

WAS is a domestic sports TV station, web portal and sports newspaper that will broadcast domestic sports competitions in Srednjaci
In addition to domestic competitions, WAS will also accompany our athletes in foreign competitions.

Given that sport is becoming more and more popular in Srednjaci and that more and more is being invested in it, the goal is to make sport as accessible and accessible as possible to the general public, but also to present our nation on the world sports map.

ABOUT US: Srednjaci is a young nation, located in The Hole To Hide In region of South Voytana.

IVANA IVANOVIĆ: silver from the XV Olympic Games in Clayquot - giant slalom. Former state champion in giant slalom and slalom. 4th place in slalom at the XV Clayquot Olympics. 4th place in the mix team competition at the Olympics.

ZRINKA LJUTIĆ - the youngest member of the national team at only 17 years old.
She is the current champion in Slalom and Giant Slalom in Srednjaci. She won 4th place at the XV Olympics in Clayquot, mix team.

TVRTKO LJUTIĆ- current champion of Srednjaci in slalom, giant slalom, parallel giant slalom and super combination. Four years he was first in Srednjaci in slalom and giant slalom owerall. He achieved 41 career victories.
5th place in slalom at the XV Olympic Games, 4. place in the mix team competition.

The most famous names in Nordic skiing:

NINA MANDARIĆ (BIATHLON) - current Olympic champion from the XV Olympic Games 12.5 km Mass start, Olympic champion in the women's relay team (Nina Mandarić, Ivana Mandarić, Olga Masterkova, Julija Tirimotić), national champion in 7.5 km, 4. place at the Olympics in the Mix Relay.

LUCIAN MATKOVIĆ (BIATHLON) - the best biathlete in the history of our country, 9 titles of champions in various disciplines. 3rd place at the Men’s Relay Olympics

OLGA MASTERKOVA (BIATHLON) - state champion in 15 km, former double champion in 7.5 km sprint and prsuit. Gold in the women's relay at the Clayquot Olympics.

ANA TEA LOZANČIĆ (SKI JUMPING) - country record holder on both Hills, two-time country champion on Normal Hill. Current country champion on Large Hill.
4th place individually from the Olympic Games on Large Hill, 5th place as a team at the Olympic Games in Clayquot.

ANA TURKULJA (SKI JUMPING) - former country champion on both Hills, current country champion on Normal Hill. 3rd place and a bronze medal from the Olympic Games in Claquot. 5th place as a team from the Olympic Games.

DARINKO BUČIĆ- record holder and champion of the country on both Hills. Multi-award winning athlete of the country with a special plaque of appreciation.
5th place at the Claycuot Olympics with that event.

When it comes to other sports, women's handball is the most watched team sport in Srednjaci.
Just the fact that 60,218 spectators watched the halls in the first 6 rounds of the match shows the huge attendance of this sport and players like Antonija Ružić or Ling Mei are big stars in the country.
The contract that Antonija Ružić signed during the transfer from ŽRK Katanija to Automobili Raduč is the biggest contract in the history of sports in Srednjaci.
And when she entered a supermarket in Raduč, a police cordon needed to help her get out of the supermarket, almost 2,000 fans gathered in front of the store.
But other sports have also become very popular such as basketball, athletics, swimming, water polo, football, gymnastics, tennis and volleyball.

FIRST HANDBALL LEAGUE FOR MEN

The men's handball league is divided into 3 groups.
The strongest is the first Handball League "Prva" which has 10 clubs.
The second league is divided into two leagues, League North and League South. Each has 10 clubs and two first-place finishers from each will play a playoff to enter the Ligue "First".
The last club is eliminated directly from League "First".
The penultimate club League "First" plays to stay with the defeated from the play-off League North vs Laegue South.
Victory carries 2 points, draw brings 1 point and defeat 0 points.

INCREDIBLE RECORD OF TALENTED BUBNJEVIĆ

At the Athletic Rally in Bistua Nouva, as part of the qualifications for the Olympic Games, the young talented Davida Bubnjević ran an incredible national record of 21.59 in the finals of the 200 m race! The previous record was held by Klaudija Matković with 21.77 runs this year. Davida Bubnjević (20) is a member of the Melarit Stars athletic club.

"This is a dream! I knew I was ready for big things but no way the mouse would cover everything in the race. I had a great start and I kept a high pace from start to finish. I couldn't believe it when I saw the time," said Davida Bubnjevic

Klaudija Matković, former record holder, completely lost her rhythm and finished sixth on 22.05.

THE FASTEST 100 M FINAL IN HISTORY

Another record was broken in the final 100-meter race. After the semi-final races ran pretty slowly and we had two results under 11 seconds alone, the final was a real explosion.
Paula Ljubić from Neptun Taru ran a new national record of 10.70, which is 10 hundredths better than the previous record of Ivana Kapović. Kapović ran again in the time of the Srednjaci record but that was enough for second place. Hana Vukovic ran the personal best.

In Srednjaci started new domestic tennis season. This will be fourth domestic tennis season. Last year domestic champion was Ivan Štimac.
Traditionally , first tournament is on coast, Melarit Open, hard court tournament..
Tennis club "Poseidon" will be host again.

SINGLES

In singles, there is no any surprises. Top four players played semies. Our best international tennis player is Tena Špiričić but she couldn't won match against defending title champion Ljubomir Ivanković. After three tough sets, Ivanković won and take a chance to defend last year title.
In second semiefinal Ivan Štimac didn't have any problems against Lucija Bagarić.
Ljubomir Ivanković defend a title in two set game. This is his 11th single domestic title.

In singles, Ivanković is on top of the table with 150pts , Ivan Štimac have 100 pts on third and fourth place are Tena Špiričić and Lucija Bagarić with 75pts.

ALPINE SKI - NATIONAL OLYMPICS TRIALS

The national competition of Olympic qualifications in alpine skiing has ended.
The best national skiers performed on the mountain range above the capital Katanija. The famous ski resorts "Bijeli Vrh" and "Plavi Vrh" hosting competition's.
Fifteen best skiers in men's and women's competition from each discipline received the right to participate in the Olympic qualifiers. The best juniors also performed with them. Which means we have the best fifteen in each discipline plus one junior, the best junior in that discipline.
The top three skiers get a visa for the Olympics and the best fourth place finisher will be the first substitute in case of injury or illness of one of the top three.

DAY 1 - Women's Downhill

SENSATION ON THE FIRST DAY

We watched a great race in the women's downhill on the "Red Downhill" track on the slopes of "Bijeli Vrh". Throughout the season, Marija Hercigonja and Tatjana Ljubić fought in the downhill battle. After five of the six races held, Hercigonja and Ljubić have two victories each, one victory was recorded by Anita Ćuk.
Marija Hercigonja leads in the downhill standings with 25 points ahead of Tatjana Ljubić. Both of these skiers represented our country in the downhill and at the previous Olympic Games held in Kelssek.
However, the star of the day was a young 16-year-old junior Izidora Markić who managed to reach the third position and a ticket to the Olympic Games!
The absolute sensation and surprise was Izidora Markić.

FILIPOVIĆ SQUEEZED INTO SECOND POSITION!

Gabriel Lužić Nađ is fighting for the champion of our country during the season. The only one who can endanger Tvrtko Ljutić in the first place owerall. Great in fast disciplines and very good in giant slalom, Gabriel Lužić Nađ.
But he has a lot of competition in fast disciplines as well, of course it's Marin Fleiss. Both of these skiers represented Srednjaci at the last Olympics.
Marin Fleiss started first and then Gabriel Lužić Nađ with number 4. Gabriel drove a great race and was over one second better than Marin Fleiss. Fleiss was later pushed to third position as the great Samuel Filipovic managed to squeeze between them.

"A tough race and a tough track as we expected. There were a few traps especially after the jump where the blue gates need to be caught well. I did it as I envisioned and I'm glad I managed to win. I believe the descent will be tough as well. I am going to the Olympics again and that is a big thing for me, "Gabriel said after the victory.

Congratulations on winning to Gabriel. I did my best to get to the podium which leading me to the Olympics. I knew where I could get build time and that is the blue door after the jump. I managed to build time there and ski to second place. I am very happy and confident now. " said Samuel after the race.

THE DEFENDER OF THE SILVER MEDAL FROM THE PAST OLYMPIC GAMES WAS THE BEST IN THIS RACE!

The two main favorites in the women's giant slalom won the first two positions. Ivana Ivanović, the first winner of the historic first medals for Srednjaci, will have the opportunity to repeat that success. Ivanovic won a silver medal in this discipline at the last Olympic Games. It was also the first historical international medal from any sports competition for our country. Ivana Ivanović will remain inscribed in golden letters in our sports history!

DAY 6- Men's Giant slalom

AMAZING TVRTKO LJUTIĆ WORLD FOR HIMSELF !!

Tvtko Ljutić destroyed the competition in two giant slalom races. Tvrko in the giant slalom this season has not lost any of the 5 races held. He again left the competition far behind and showed that he is untouchable on the national scene at the moment. Bojan Belulović won the second place with a huge gap behind the first place. A great result was achieved by Marin Fleiss. Marin has ridden only three giant slaloms this season, twice sixth and once seventh. This is his best result in this discipline this season and also the first podium in the giant slalom after more than a year. CONVINCING ZRINKA LJUTIĆ! IVANOVIĆ AND HERCIGONJA WITHOUT THE OLYMPIC GAMES IN THIS DISCIPLINE!

Zrinka Ljutić was brilliant again. With two convincing runs, she secured a place in the Olympics in another discipline. She was untouchable in the slalom and it is a clear sign that she will be the first favorite in the slalom race.
Ivana Ivanović and Marija Hercigonja failed to secure the Olympic Games in this discipline. Hercigonja flew off the track in the first run and Ivanović finished last with two huge mistakes. Izzy Markić failed to make another sensational result. She flew off the track in the first run. However, Tatjana Ljubić drove a great slalom run and broke through to the second position. this is a big surprise considering that Tatjana Ljubić does not ride slalom in the national championship.
Elina Voskobojeva is third and this will be her first games. Zorana Treskovic will be in the waiting room. Zorana was the only one with Zrinka Ljutić to drive the slalom race below 44.00.

ZRINKA LJUTIĆ TO WIN IN SLALOM IN FRONT OF IVANA IVANOVIĆ AND REBEKA TOLIĆ!

Again, the weather conditions made it difficult for the skiers. Yesterday in the men's super combination there was heavy snow and today in the women's slalom after the snow the fog came down.
Zrinka Ljutić did best in difficult conditions. Zrinka is our best slalom skier who does not know for the defeat in this season. She won all the slalom races.
The second was Ivana Ivanović, who will again represent our country in this discipline together with the winner Ljutić and the third-placed Rebeka Tolić.

After the first slalom run of Kornelije Car was in the lead ahead of Tvrtko Ljutić. But then in the second slalom run, Tvtrko Ljutić drove masterfully. He drove the slalom slot below 50.00, amazing result!
The incredible Tvrtko Ljutić seems to be from another planet, a world just for himself. The other skiers could only watch and admire to the maestro.

BASKETBALL LEAGUE SREDNJACI - FOURTH SEASON- FIRST LEAGUES MEN'S AND WOMEN'S

The basketball leagues in Srednjaci have finished their fourth season. Srednjaci are a young nation, but they are very represented in the world of basketball.
The national basketball team won a silver medal with the IBC 32 held at Chromatika, but the men's team also won a bronze medal from the last Summer Olympics.
Srednjaci have separate women's and men's leagues, but the national team can also be mixed.
The first league in both competitions contains 12 teams. Two away games and two at home games are played. In men's competition, the most successful club is KK Katanija Zmajevi with two consecutive titles and they are defending champions. It is interesting that the first champion was the second club from the capital, KK Dinamo Katanija, but the following season they are relegated to the second league and they never returned to the first division.
The two last-placed teams will be relegated to the second division.
The second league has 14 teams and one game is played away and one at home. The two first-placed clubs go to the first league.
The situation is different in women's competition, ŽKK Katanija Zmajevi is defending the title of current champions, but it is also their first title. Namely, ŽKK Torpedo Melarit, ŽKK Dalatia Banka-Dormatisi and ŽKK Katanija Zmajevi have one title each.
The two last-placed teams will be relegated to the second division.

FIRST LEAGUE WOMEN'S

* ŽOK ( ženski odbojkaški klub- women's volleyball club)
The new season of the first women's volleyball league brought the most interesting season. The first season was dominated by the Kings Star Katanija.
However, as of this season, the league has been expanded from 10 to 12 clubs, and the playoffs for the champion have been introduced.
The league has thus gained in competence but also in quality, and from this season the first two clubs will get the opportunity to represent our federation in international competitions.

The absolute hit of the first part of the season is the club that comes from Northern Slavonija, Pionir Podgora. Bistua Nuova has the best ratio in sets and announces theirs candidacy for the playoffs.
Defenders of the title are right there with the same number of points as Bistua Nuova, fourth are Tower Sky with the same number of points.
However, in the transition period, two players leave Pionir Podgora and join the ranks of another club from the Northern Slavonija region, Evergreen from Lijepograd.

MEN'S FIRST VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE

The second season of the men's competition is over. This season the league was even better than last season and attracted far more spectators than before.
Defenders of the title are OK (volleyball club) Kings Star Katanija, which dominated last season and they beat OK Mladost Melarit in the final with a smoothly 3-0.
The new club that came from the second league is Pula Sunny Hotels. It will be interesting to see how they manage in this highest volleball national league for men's.

FIRST LEAGUE WOMEN'S - SEASON 3

* ŽOK ( ženski odbojkaški klub- women's volleyball club)
The volleyball season has entered its third season. The defending champion is ŽOK Bistua Nuova, but this season they will also have great competition in the winners of the first professional season, ŽOK Kings Stars Katanija.
In addition to these two clubs, we believe that great girls from Podgora will also fight for the top. Pionir Podgora has a very strong team this season. They have a new blocker and member of the national team from East Slavona, Slavica Grujić. 201 cm tall, Slavica was the best blocker in the East Slavonic League.
Of the other arrivals and departures, we must certainly mention that three important players left the ŽOK Katanija club. Ivana Huljak, the forward, went to Ota Mora Melarit, as did libero Nadia Kuzmanova. The great Morita Ayumi left the club in the second transfer window and joined ŽOK Maestral from Plava Laguna.
ŽOK Maestral Plava Laguna was the champion of the second league, and as the winners of the second league, they entered the first league instead of ŽOK Melarit Volley, who finished in last place last season.

After half of the competition, we see that the defending champion ŽOK Bistua Nuova has serious problems. They are currently in fourth place, the last that leads to the playoffs for the champion. However, the newcomers from Plava Laguna in the strongest national league are playing great and are an absolute surprise in the first part of the competition. The only question is whether they can continue at this high pace.
Pionir from Podgora are also playing well, but their run could be stopped due to an injury to striker Ljubica Štokić.

An incredible season with many twists and turns. The regular part of the season was won by newcomers from the second league, ŽOK Maestral Plava Laguna! Great, especially fantastic players from Plava Laguna managed to start from the first position in the playoffs.
Current champions and defending champions from Bistua Nuova will start their title defense from second place.
Another surprise is the placement of the club from Melarit, Ota Moru. It is incredible that we expected maybe Pionir from Podgora or Dormatisi in the playoffs, but Ota Moru showed an enviable game in the second part of the competition and deservedly entered the playoffs from the third position.
The regular favorites, ŽOK Kings Star Katanija, also enter the playoffs from the fourth position.
In the playoffs, let's forget everything we saw in the league part of the competition. A playoff is a playoff and there is no room for error correction, one ball can decide the champion.

ŽOK KINGS STAR KATANIJA is the new national champion. A great season is behind us, even better than last season. Never better play off, never better matches and ŽOK KSK players are champions. Ota Moru Melarit failed to create a sensation, but on top of that, they played in the final, which is a big deal for them!
Third place eventually went to Bistua Nuova, which failed to defend the title. The fourth place went to the sensational winners of the league part of the competition, Maestral Plava Laguna.
