Coming just before the big Starfall event, Sinun Valintasi returns in a miniature form for the 97th WorldVision Song Contest. After the wild ride of the last number of editions, TÖBUK is ready for public and international input into its next two entries. Competing tonight are three acts: WV veteran Miilimasis Toivonen, IALO, and Áno, nevis Barbo.

Full Playlist

Image
Miilimasis Toivonen - "Better"
Tune: Ruben - Running

You're always gonna win, win, win, win, win, win
Crowned as king to ascend the throne
Chasing every win, win, win, win, win
No one beyond when you're on your own

So is it better?
When the night descends and you're losing sleep
So is it better?
Where you once had friends, now find enemies

Heard my voice through all the years
Speaking truth to save your tears

I guess it's better, you know better
I bet you know better than me

Image
IALO - "December"
Tune: Nico Santos, Topic - Like I Love You (Full M/V)

Oh the air is getting colder
And it hurts to hold your icy heart
It's like time is getting slower
Feeling frostbite in the summer, hurts like it's December

Like December,
Hurts like it's December, ooh na na
Like December
Feeling frostbite in the summer

Image
Áno, nevis Barbo - "Zini Co Darít"
(You know what to do)

Tune: Irama - Mediterranea (Full M/V)

Chis sapnis, co zívoyo
Atcal y atcal, nau cártéyais muorgi, bet gã tava suétíba

Saolas gaismá, lietosgázá es scatos tavás açís
Tava cantxa liec mã yustias zívã
Y nezino cá teu atcal admaxát
Tápéç viso, co varo teu dot, ir mano cúno

Y zini co darít

This dream that I'm living
Again and again, it's not another nightmare, but your blessing

In the sunlight, in the rainstorm, I look into your eyes
Your passion makes me feel alive
And I don't know how to pay you back again
So all I can give you is my body

And you know what to do

Please send your ranking to me via TG or Discord DM, with your first choice marked. If you only like 1 song and greatly dislike the others, please include that in the votes. Voting will most likely close during the host voting week (after Feb 14) but may be closed a bit earlier.

Gunas Timur's successor has been chosen!

This evening HARESHET announced Ertzei Kishim's entry for the 97th WorldVision Song Contest. Having invited delegations from a number of respectable broadcasters to listen to a selection of songs, the jury unanimously agreed on the offering sent by David Abaty, a 30 year old singer from Rakaphy. Expressing his joy at the announcement, David claimed that he was ready to take on the challenge of representing his country, and hoped to continue the excellent streak of results the country has had since returning to the contest. His song, 'Fire In The Fight' is a powerful dance-pop number with some local influences. More details about the entry will be revealed shortly, however fans are excited to hear the previews of the song, which is one of the first of the season to be announced.

Nation Name: Hafamarimët
Official Broadcaster: TVH
Song Title: If You Want To
Artist(s) Name(s): Hanak Nulmoara ft. Vïssa

Tune: Il Pagante - Portofino (song starts around 50 seconds)

After originally being slated to represent Dacharia at WorldVision 96, Hanak and Vïssa were disappointed to find that nation withdrawing from the contest. Their sadness was short-lived, luckily, as the song If You Want To proved to be a huge hit in Hafamarimët. And since Vïssa was born in Hafamarimët, granting her Hafamari citizenship, the duo were well within the rules to enter WorldVision Judadïl 97, which they won by quite an impressive margin, capturing the top spot in both jury votes and televote points.

News

Unfortunate news: Malta Comino Gozo has recently admitted to televoting based on personal dislike of specific players, and as such receives 1 strike.

Please take this as a reminder to keep your televoting fair to everyone, and if you believe someone is being toxic or such, please let the WVC know (in this case, the other WVC members) instead of taking it out on them through the televote.

We'll be discussing how we might be able to change the televote system to cut down on opportunities for this behavior and related incidents, and will bounce the ideas off the community if we agree on any good ideas.

With that said, back to the signups and NFs!

Amelia Stone & Tom Bastion for Britonisea at WV97!

Postby Britonisea » Thu Feb 10, 2022 1:42 pm

> Amelia Stone & Tom Bastion to represent Britonisea at the 97th WorldVision Song Contest with "Lollipop"!

Image
Image

Listen to the song HERE!

After Britonisea returned to the podium for the first time in six editions and ahead of the 7th Vha Mehlodhivestoile in just over a month's time, Britonisea will be sending the upbeat number, "Lollipop" sung by Amelia Stone and Tom Bastion...

Britonisea won the Jury vote of the WorldVision Song Contest for the third time in 10 editions with 109 points with Amara Talin singing her song, "Found" - a dramatic ballad which had 19 nations voting for it, including 12 points from Polkopia. The televote came in, favouring Malta Comino Gozo and Todlichebujoku, pushing Britonisea down into third place with 203 points. Despite the disappointing end to the voting sequence, Britonisea still managed its fifth 200+ points total since the introduction of the televote at the 82nd WorldVision Song Contest. While the nation still has a long way to beat its record of 255 points, hopefully things are looking up for the nation as it struggled during the 90s to place in the top 5.

The 97th WorldVision Song Contest marks 10 editions since Britonisea's last win, a luxury Britons may have once taken for granted as the Brits enter it's longest win drought since the WorldVision 50s. BITC, especially after the very serious song sent in the last edition, wanted to send something a bit more upbeat and fun that would have mass appeal. They decided to go for the song, "Lollipop", a song by 31-year-old Amelia Stone and 42-year-old Tom Bastion both from the capital city, Doportedas. While both names are known in the country, the pair are an unexpected one - with Amelia being known for being a model and dancer, whereas Tom is a popular comedian and actor. The song, "Lollipop" is the nation's most risqué song to date, with the lyrics having a playful spin to them anyone can interpret them however they want!

What more do you want from me?
I've been a good girl all year.
I can taste the temptation,
Just let go and surrender.

- A glimpse of the lyrics of "Lollipop"

It was announced on the News at 6pm that the song would represent the country, with the first live performance of the song expected to happen on the Rory Irvin chatshow on BITC at 9pm - in just 20 minutes. On the Rory Irvin show, we will also learn more about how Amelia and Tom's partnership came to be. The song has already amassed 80,000 streams in only two hours on Britonisea's largest streaming service, Spotify and Nyx Inc and is expected to chart high on both streaming services tomorrow. With the charts updating tomorrow, it is unlikely we will see "Lollipop" in the top 40 this week but it is looking to debut quite high next week.

The WorldVision Song Contest will be live from Norfolk Pinewoods, Beepee (we hope!) on Saturday 12th March, broadcasted on BITC1.

STE | WorldVision Song Contest

Postby Ekoz » Fri Feb 11, 2022 3:17 pm

Image

STE (Servå Televisie Ekøses) today confirmed its participation in the 97th WorldVision Song Contest, marking the end of an entire decade of an Ekozian hiatus to the competition. The broadcaster announced plans to introduce it's hugely popular 'Sjarnåfestivalen' to decide the nation's representative for future editions with the re-introduction of international juries, specifically those already participating in the WorldVision Song Contest.

Markus Kristiansson, Head of Delegation, stated "This has been a long time coming. I'm so very pleased to confirm STE's return to the WorldVision Song Contest. We've been working with major record labels in Carnise and around the country to decide our entry for the 97th edition and I'm so pleased to announce our entry this edition. Ekoz, famously in contests prior, chose upbeat, electro songs so for our return, why stray away from that to re-introduce ourselves back to the contest?"

Image
Anni Baalthe will represent Ekoz at the 97th WorldVision Song Contest

Anni Baalthe, 24, has been confirmed as the Ekozian representative to the WorldVision Song Contest. She released her entry Undone on all streaming platforms this morning, featuring heavily in Spotify's New Music Friday Ekoz playlist, and has already received heavy airplay on Ekozian radio. The singer rose to fame after finishing second in Talang Ekøse in 2020. She has released 3 top ten singles within the past two years and has been nominated for a Gråmmi (Ekozian Music Awards).

Further information regarding Anni and her single Undone will be announced in the coming weeks in the lead up to the contest. Her new single is available to steam on all platforms.

World, stop voting now!

Semi Finals 1 & 2 for the Landa vy Polkopiya have both concluded, meaning that it's time to reveal who will be qualifying to the Grand Final for a chance to win Polkopia's largest annual music award show. The winner of the Landa vy Polkopiya will have the opportunity to represent Polkopia at the Worldvision Song Contest - the largest music competition in the multiverse! This edition, the Landa vy Polkopiya drew interest from ten different nations, with each of them sending a team of music experts to vote on who was to qualify for the Grand Final. The two qualifying acts from each semi-final are decided in this matter, whereas the Wildcard spot is awarded to a non-qualifying entry that the Polkopian jury feels as if though it deserves a place in the Grand Final. With the four qualifiers and one Wildcard spot, there are to be five acts competing in the Grand Final, each of them vying for the top spot in the competition.

Semi Final 1 Votes:

The following scoreboard shows the results for Semi Final 1. Juries from Britonisea, Ertzei Kishim, Malta Comino Gozo, Pemecutan, and Scotatrova have all voted in this semi-final.

Semi Final 2 Votes:

Once the Grand Final has concluded, we will have a clear and distinct winner as to who will be representing Polkopia at the upcoming Worldvision Song Contest. After the recent edition of the Landa vy Polkopiya concluded, and five acts competed in the Grand Final of Polkopia's national selection for Worldvision, two entries found themselves in the top. As per Landa vy Polkopiya rules, the song who accumulated the most points from the televote will be crowned the winner. Using this as a tiebreaker, it has been determined that Biyan'ka would represent Polkopia with her song, What's Wrong? Her victory in Polkopia's national selection makes this the third time that a song has won the contest after qualifying through as a Wildcard.

You can find more details about Polkopia's entry to the 97th Worldvision Song Contest below:

Biyan'ka - What's Wrong?
Language: English
Tune: Tove Lo - How Long

Thank you, once again, for everyone who voted in the Landa vy Polkopiya, and best of luck this edition!

HOST VOTING RESULTS!

It's Beepee. Sorry for the anti-climactic reveal but, as his nation was the only one to have submitted a bid this cycle, Norfolk Pinewoods will automatically be the host for the 97th WorldVision Song Contest. He's free to open up the contest at any point this week if he wishes to (seriously, mate, you don't have to rush things) and sign-ups will still be open until next Monday at 8pm GMT.

So yeah, well done Beepster, congratulations on finally hosting after several well-made attempts, and best of luck to everyone.
