Z-Day

Busy times we live in! As if N-Day wasn’t intense enough, we just had an action-packed Z-Day! What a zombie apocalypse it was! 10000 Islands had 258 billion survivors, 775 billion zombies, and a catastrophic 5.06 trillion dead! This year was an extremely deadly and infectious one, but this does not mean that it was any less fun. On both the RMB and Discord, Islanders helped each other survive the apocalypse!
Special thanks to Tobixland for doing a Hall of Fame and a detailed chart about the participating nations in the event and their valuable contributions (…alright, maybe some nations weren't that helpful…) to Z-Day! The dispatches can be found here and here.

Around the Islands

~ Together with The Labyrinth, 10000 Islands held The Great Worldbuilding Festival on Discord, where each participating nation had to give a detailed world-building about its government, history, and culture in accordance with its side of the political compass! In the end, Authoritarian Right ended up with 2500 points, Authoritarian Left with 1100 points, and both Libertarian Right and Libertarian Left with 0 points. Talking about The Labyrinth, embassies between A Taco Archipelago and their region have opened![
~ The Liberty Gala: A Soirée in Celebration of Regional Sovereignty was hosted on Discord! In the Gala, there was a variety of game events hosted via Discord, a card collection contest onsite, a series of Defender Games, DefenderVision, a panel of significant individuals in defender history and one on the role of Declarations in the Security Council, an updating of the Defender Family Tree, and more! The Liberty Gala is hosted annually in the run-up to the Defender Awards.
~ Congratulations to both Gonggong and Xanthorrhoea on winning the Rookie of the Quarter Q3 of 2021 and Rookie of the Quarter Q4 of 2021 respectively! More information about the awards here!!
~ Xanthorrhoea was also 10000 Island's Featured Nation of October! More information about it here.

Islander Achievements

~ Congratulations to Xanthorrhoea in writing and passing GA#582 "Access to Effective Medications".

~ Congratulations to everyone who did their best surviving Z-Day!

XKI Game-Side

This month Jabberwocky brought us two polls, the first one was about if you ready to own a self driving car, and the second one was about which baseball team would make it to the World Series.
In the first poll, 159 people voted. 38 (23.89%) agreed that “so that they could relax to their way to work,” 9 (5.66%) agreed “so they could work to their way to work,” 23 (14.46%) disagreed because “they weren't ready to put their lifes in a computer's cybernetic ‘hands’,” 31 (19.49%) disagreed because “they trusted more their own reflexes and instincts,” 4 (2.51%) agreed because “they must have the latest technology,” 8 (5.03%) disagreed because “they wouldn't do that till someone manufactured a self driving pickup,” 31 (19.49%) agreed because “they say computers can react and respond much faster then us mortals,” and 15 (9.43%) disagreed because “they believe cars shouldn't be a thing at all.”
Is it just me or do the answers slowly get more wacky from the first to last?
In the second poll, 122 people voted. 7 (5.73%) voted for Atlanta Braves, 14 (11.47) voted for Los Angeles Dodges, 6 (4.91%) voted for Houston Astros, 9 (7.37%) voted for Boston Red Sox, and with an amazing majority, 86 (70.49%) probably had no clue which sport was actually being discussed there. A way of dividing who is American and who is not, I guess.

With the new wave of Islanders, this month the RMB is being a party! I hope I do not lose myself in the colossal world of posts...

Poet Laureate Contest

It was announced in the last Emissary Report that the October Poet Laureate Contest was being organized by Wille-Harlia, and now we are here to tell you about how the event, focusing on bravery, went down! This event had five entries, and all of them were extremely well done! The submissions were Battle of Dawn by Margaux, Sinking Ships by Liberdon, On the Darkest Day by Valentian Elysium, Latter Day by Gonggong and for last Am I Brave? by Aersoldorf.
In the end, Sinking Ships by Liberdon won the contest with 11 votes. Congratulations to Liberdon and to everyone that took part in the contest!

Sinking Ships

Bear the storm, proud anchor
And bear it well, for you have earned it
You were warned not to go
But you were blinded to your folly
Ignorance, they called it
When you boarded that sinking ship
Foolishness, they shouted out
But your ears were deaf to their noise
Ride out the waves, dear captain
As they attempt to swallow you whole
Hold your ground, though it be hard
For your heart has guided you this far
Courage, that is your true name
You stood, defiant, as you stand now
On the deck of broken dreams
Drowned, as they reign, triumphant
Now, we stare at the black coffin
How did you say goodbye?
Did you cling to the mast in fear?
Or jump from the bird’s nest?
Here, we build our own damned vessels,
So welcome us with glee, cadaver,
As we cast off in search of peace
And raise storms to calm our restless souls

We'll see each other again next month, your XKI Update Staff is signing off!

November Senatorial Elections

It's election time in 10000 Islands! This month the elections for Lyonesse East and Himes West took place. The runners for LE were former LE Senator Aschente (campaign post here) and incumbent Senator Flying Eagles (campaign post here). AxeCapital (campaign post here) was the sole candidate for HM since former Senator Zaberaz Hapang decided to not run for reelection.

The Lyonesse East election was a close call: Aschente garnering 20 votes (57.14% of the total votes) to Flying Eagles’s 15 (42.86% of the total votes). Aschente won by a slim margin of 5 votes, a rare occurrence! The Himes West poll had a rather predictable outcome: AxeCapital winning with 27 votes (77.14% of the total votes). There were 8 votes (22.86% of the total votes) that declined to vote for AxeCapital, which was a somewhat high decline rate compared to previous polls with just one candidate. How interesting!

Thanks to all of the candidates for taking part in the elections, and best of luck to Aschente and AxeCapital with their terms!

Around the Islands

~ AxeCapital, shortly after their election, formed the RP Commission, made up of notable Islanders and XKI role-players. The purpose of the Commission is to advise the Himes West Senator during the course of his duties on the implementation of rule changes, event planning, and general improvement of RP in XKI.
~ The XKI National Legislation Contest was hosted in November as part of a search for the funniest legislation in XKI. There were three categories: the RL Nation Legislation, which was won by ETopiAna and The Republic of Western Sol, the Issue Fallout line (won by Macrasetia) and the Invented Legislation (won by Gonggong). Congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone who participated! Check more about this event here.
~ Eastern New England stepped down from their position of World Assembly Secretary. Thank you for your hard work and important contributions to XKI!
~ Free Las Pinas stepped down from their position as Minister of Education, appointing Porflox in their place. Thank you Free Las Pinas for your hard work and dedication to XKI and good luck to Porflox in their new position!
~ The Republic of Western Sol was XKI's featured nation of November! More information about it here.

Islander Achievements

~ Congratulations to the nations in the XKI RMB who worked together to make several fantastic paper and digital drawings!
~ The H Corporation has started an impressive dispatch about the football teams inside his nation. Check it out here!

XKI Game-Side

This month our favorite Regional Pollster, Jabberwocky, brought us two polls: Who would win the World Series?, a sequel of the Who would play in the World Series? poll, and What is your favorite type of tea?.

In the first poll, Jabberwocky warned that it was a Yank thing, mostly out of the fact that the previous World Series poll saw most of the people voting that they had no clue about what he was saying. Out of 151 voters, 15 (9.93%) voted for the Houston Astros, 28 (18.54%) voted for the Atlanta Braves, and 108 (71.52%) voted asking why they should be talking about sports and claiming that sports are tedious. I personally don't believe that the majority of Islanders don’t understand American sports, but, in reality, most of the people just haven't seen grass for a very long time. Simply theorizing ;)

In the second poll, inspired by Valentian Elysium, there were 216 voters, an impressive turnout even for a region as large as 10000 Islands. Out of the voters, 33 (15.27%) voted for green tea (15.27%), 8 (3.70%) voted for matcha tea, 36 (16.66%) voted for black tea, 9 (4.16%) voted for white tea, 7 (3.24%) voted for masala chai, 7 (3.24%) voted for wulong (oolong) tea, 4 (1.85%) voted for pu-erh tea, 2 (0.92%) voted for dark tea, 18 (8.33%) voted for herbal "tea", 35 (16.20%) voted for coffee, and 57 (26.38%) voted for none of the options shown above. Wow, I never knew that there were so many types of tea!

I don't even want to talk about how active the 10000 Islands Regional Message Board was in November. No, seriously, I've spent more time looking at the RMB than doing the rest of the Update. Honestly, everyone calm down. 200 pages of posts in one month, how...

Meet The Nation

This month our Emissary Udpate staff interviewed Krystalveil, a long time ATA Role-player and one of the most well known nations in the RP scene of XKI.

Haivon: Hello Krystal, could I ask you a few questions for the Emissary Report?
Krystalveil: Sure
Haivon: Why did you decided to join XKI in first place?
Krystalveil: I believe it was one of the 1st recruitment Telegram i have received and sounded cool
Haivon: Once you arrived here, why did you choose to stay?
Krystalveil: It was filled with friendly people
Haivon: Now I have some questions about your long presence in A Taco Archipelago, which is basically from day one of its founding. What led you to join this RP and involve yourself directly with its moderation and the nation 64 Cubes?
Krystalveil: Well, I have been participating in the RP on the main RMB for quite some time at that point and once the decision was made to open a new place for RP, I obviously joined it to continue with the stories already created.
As for involvement, I wanted to contribute to ATA from the non RP perspective, but also desired something with less attributes than the HW Senator (despite running for it once) - due to time constraints. I realised someone had to keep order when things got crazy and assuming I am also the oldest person, it wasn't a strech.
Haivon: What do you believe is ATA's importance for XKI's role-play community and the region in general?
Krystalveil: I believe it revitalised the RP in the XKI, especially with the forums being generally less visited by newer nations, especially ones that don't want to get involved in the in deepths of the NS. It helped bring people together through fun time on the RMB. It gave XKI RP a new face.
Haivon: Alright, I have a question that is more of personal curiosity and one that no one has probably ever wondered because it might be too simple or too obsolete, but how did you bring the emoticon '=)' into ATA, and how did it become so popular in there, mostly when talking about stuff related to you?
Krystalveil: Well, it's the emoticon I use in real life when smiling or something is funny and I don't want to put the laughing emojy. And then, being used to it IRL, translating it here to maximise mystery and emphasise certain questions or phrases, it got stuck and became a personal signature.
=)
Haivon: I guess that is it. Is there anything else you wish to say for the interview?
Krystalveil: Yes. I know where you readers hid your artworks, so be careful if and when you visit ATA, because Krystalveil might pay you a visit too =)
Haivon: Thank you for your time!
Krystalveil: Thank you as well

Hope to see you all next month, your XKI Update Staff is signing off!

~ Venmere started the Peregrine Cup V, which is currently in its semifinals. The remaining competitors are Coldian, Margaux, Zaberaz Hapang and The Republic of Osea. If you are interested about the organization of teams in the Cup, check it out here.
~ I hope all of you had excellent holidays!

XKI Game-Side

This month our favorite Regional Pollster, Jabberwocky, brought us two polls themed around the holidays! The first one asked Islanders if they agreed to Christmas music in public and the second one asked them if they liked eggnog for the holidays.

In the first poll, there were 170 voters: 16 (9.41%) said “no” because Christmas music in public was annoying, 70 (41.17%) said “yes” because it placed them in the holiday spirit, 18 (10.58%) said “no” because it infringed upon their rights as non-Christians, 12 (7.05%) said “yes” because it is spiritually uplifting, 18 (10.58%) said “no” because of the commercialism advertised in those songs, 20 (11.76%) said “yes” because they could hear the sleigh bells ringing, and 16 (9.41%) said "Humbug” in a pirate way to express their feelings that Christmas music in public is insincere and hypocritical.
In the second poll, there were 129 voters: 44 (34.10%) said “yes” because eggnog is delicious and essential for the holidays, 73 (56.58%) said “no” because it is an abominable, ghastly concoction, and 12 (9.30%) said “yes” as long as the eggnog was heavily spiked.

Much like last month, it was miserable to look at every December RMB post...well, maybe I’m exaggerating. The RMB was slightly less busy than the previous month, but I do know one thing that didn’t change: the abundance of absolutely hilarious moments!
~ The perfect weapon
~ Yum!
~ Run
~ Eating in modernity in a nutshell
~ A ghost town...
~ The week is over
~ The Matrix Recollection!
~ There is always another level

Meet The Nation

This month our Emissary Update staff interviewed Jabberwocky, the longtime Regional Pollster.
Haivon: Hello Jabberwocky! Could I ask you some few questions for the Emissary Report?

Jabberwocky: Of course! Fire away.

Haivon: In first of all, how did you joined NS and why did you decided to join 10000 Islands?

Jabberwocky: I first read about NationStates four years ago inside the back cover of a novel by Max Barry; perhaps it was Syrup. I thought it sounded intriguing and tried it out. I drifted about for a few months, trying out various regions. As a WA member, I read Lenlyvit's proposal to Commend Europe. The bit about defending appealed to me. I asked Ms. L how one becomes a defender; she suggested The Grey Wardens or XKI. Thus the 10000 Islands became my home; here I remain.

Haivon: After you joined the region, what made you stay here?

Jabberwocky: As I strolled around the grounds, everyone was friendly and helpful, open minded and tolerant. That atmosphere appealed to me then, and still does.

Haivon: When and how did you become the Regional Pollster?

Jabberwocky: Nearly three years ago, the Ministry of Labor posted a job opening for Pollster to replace an outgoing Pollster. I applied for the job and somehow fooled them enough to get it. Back in those days we had two Pollsters.

Haivon: How do you usually get the ideas for those polls?

Jabberwocky: I get ideas from...the news, from real life. Or I make something up. Or I steal from someone else.

Haivon: In the past, you used to do a monthly regional newspaper called The Mad Surfer, which was a predecessor to the Emissary Report, and many Islanders, myself included, were once interviewed by it. Is there anything about it you would like to tell us?

Jabberwocky: TMS was a spur of the moment flash in the pan that got lucky enough to tickle the fancy of the reading public, probably due to its irreverent approach. Not a precursor to the Emissary Report, it ran concurrently. But, as trends do, TMS eventually lost its luster. Fortunately, the Emissary Report is a worthy successor.

Haivon: Well, I suppose that this is it. Is there anything you want to say for the interview?

Jabberwocky: Yes. The best is yet to come.

Haivon: Thank you for your time!

Jabberwocky: Are you kidding? For an old pal? No problem!

Hope to see you all next month, your XKI Update Staff is signing off!

TITO Update – January 2022

TITO Command

Has your region been invaded, or do you want to get in touch with TITO? If so, contact one of the following nations:

~Field Commander: Kanta Hame
~Tactical Officers: Smugglers and Mercs (TITO EF), Controlitia, Wischland, Sulenia, Flying Eagles, Thedairos

The Update Update

TITO spent the month of January corralling noob raiders and running detag operations of quiet updates. Troops proved their dedication with consistently high numbers of updaters, which made for some overkill victories! Overall, TITO engaged in 16 defenses, 3 liberations, 9 detags, and 3 chase runs over the month of January. Although not every operation was a success, we want to recognize updaters for doing their utmost to defend innocent regions, and to civilians for heeding the call to join update and assist when necessary. It’s always great to see Islanders excited about update and ready to help out wherever they can!

TITO awards members with a Coastwatching Eagle for every raid spotted, with a maximum of 30 awards; a maximum that Sulenia has long-since surpassed. In honor of his accomplishments, TITO Executive Officer Eastern New England has announced the Sulenia Eagle Award Series, which will be given to nations for every 40 Coastwatching Eagles they recieve. The first awardee was of course Sulenia himself. Congratulations Sulenia! TITO thanks you for your dedication.

Monthly Memes

January was fairly business-as-usual in terms of TITO jokes, with plenty of friendly banter between troops, and of course a little ribbing of top command!

Question of the Month

Attending update is obviously the most important thing in every TITO member’s schedule, but major and minor together only last about two and a half hours. This leaves almost 22 hours every day that TITO members need to fill with other activities! In January, TITO members revealed how they spend their off-update hours. Most TITO members like to chill with video games and TV taking first place as the most common activity, and reading taking second. Sleeping, cooking, and hanging out with friends also saw some support with six to nine TITO members using those activities to fill their time. Two athletically-minded TITO members like to exercise in their free time. Perhaps most importantly, seven truly dedicated TITO members said they spent the time between updates anxiously awaiting the next update. Here are some extended responses from a few of our troops:

~ MrHermit was one updater who enjoys spending their time with video games. In between their regular work and update schedule, they enjoy playing Final Fantasy 14, as well as their favorite game, World of Warcraft. Sounds like fun!

~ One of TITO’s chefs is Evil Dictators Happyland who says she like cooking eggs since they’re “pretty easy and delicious”, as well as various kinds of desserts. Maybe we’ll have to get her to cook for us sometime!

~ Flying Eagles likes to spend some time between updates reading, and recommends any bored R/Ders give Educated by Tara Westover a try.

~ Staying fit is Eastern New England who gets his exercise by commuting on his bike, for up to one and a half hours a day. Looks like somebody isn’t skipping leg day!

~ Finally, and perhaps unsurprisingly judging by all those awards, Sulenia spends most of his time off-update waiting for update, and checking the feed “every few hours” for any raider stage. Thanks Sulen for all the hard work!

Until next month, this is your TITO Update Staff signing off - Wischland

~Submissions for the fifth iteration of Tacovision opened in January. An astonishingly high number of entries were submitted. To listen to all of the amazing and varied submissions, visit this link

~Near the end of January, TIBOE hosted a weeklong endorsement drive, which included a Q&A with WA Delegate Wischland and TIBOE Chair Liberdon as well as a banner contest. Thanks to TIBOE for organizing a fantastic event!

Islander Achievements

~Well done to Sulenia for earning a multitude of TITO awards this month.

~Congratulations to Kanta Hame for being awarded the much-deserved Heart of the Islands.

XKI Game-Side

This month our favorite Regional Pollster, Jabberwocky, brought us two fantastic polls; the first one asked Islanders if they anticipated a better year in 2022 than they had in 2022 and the second one asked Islanders if there is intelligent extraterrestrial life.

In the first poll, there were 180 voters, of which 53 (29.44%) said yes, they’re optimistic, 23 (12.78%) said no, they’re a pessimist, 88 (48.89%) said maybe and decided to withhold judgement until they had seen more of 2022, and 16 (8.89%) said from the viewpoint of eternity, all points in time, past, present and future, coexist simultaneously.

No idea what the last one means, but I’m hoping for the best for everyone in 2022!

In the second poll, there were 194 voters, of which 18 (9.28%) said no, because Homo sapiens is the pinnacle of biological evolution, 160 (82.47%) said yes because it is inconceivable that we are the only intelligent life in the universe, and 16 (8.25%) said no because they’re not convinced that there is intelligent terrestrial life.

I suppose we’ll never know the truth unless space exploration expands considerably in the next few decades. Oh well…

As usual, it was pretty miserable looking through 300 pages worth of January RMB posts...but I did manage to find some hilarious (or perhaps just noteworthy) moments.

~ Definition of laziness

~ Time really files

~ Don’t we all?

~ The dough is a lie.

~ Never!

~ Me too

~ A good question

~ So disappointing…

~ I’ll need to see that in writing

Meet The Nation

This month our Emissary Udpate staff interviewed the fantastic, coffee-addicted field commander of TITO, Kanta Hame.

MrHermit: First off, how did you join NS and why pick XKI as a region?

Hame: Oh boy... Well i guess it was summer 2006 when i was still young and handsome instead just young.
Spent whole day, evening, night and morning drinking. No clue what point i wanted explore internet and find some nation running simulation game. At least i wrote something like that on google and explored.

i eventually like third thing i tried ended up being this thing NatioStates that i clicked expected it being travian in modern setting so you can guess my disappointment when i sobered up.

i was too drunk to try make sense of it so i just called it quits for the day as moring sun hurt my eyes and figured i make sense of it after i wake up. Then i started going trough inbox of recruitment telegrams and expected i am going to get destroyed if i do not join some region so i discarded those that did not interested me off the bat and fully read i think between 5 - 10 ones and eventually narrowed down to between XKI and LWU and decided to go with former as you props can guess.

MrHermit: Some story you have there. What made you join Tito and how did you become your current role of Field Commander?

Hame: hmmm. First i did not really wanna join on anything due my complete lack of self-esteem and assumption F up everything i try so better if i do not. Eventually half year after i joined Eist and Surdra convinced me to join TITO. I had really no much interest beside being able to socialize with folk better at the time and avoid responsibilities. late 2013 i got really busy in RL and was practically working day and night and partying weekends with friends so all extra stuff like NS was just cut out and returned back to XKI and TITO some time 2014 as my schedule got more humane and got bored.

2015 when Louis resigned as TO our FC at the time Klop asked people who are potentially interested taking TO capable being online at minor updates. I did not apply so Klop started messaging me about why not since he wanted me to become next TO so we ended up in very odd situation where i was arguing why i should not be TO due my heavy ADD and dyslexia that makes normal every day stuff alone a struggle, how i had turned as complete ass as Foreman in RL when things did not work out, because i am slow learner, i do not like being responsible of others, and i generally fail up everything i end up doing. But Klop was just arguing against those and since he did not took no for answer i agreed with job just that i would show him how much i would suck at it.
and start was painful and slow and since i do not tolerate own mistakes, now own mistakes had bigger consequences so i was constantly mad at my self and tried resign 3 times but Klop talked me over.

Eventually i got decent enough that i was able to cope with it but my goal was still just find better replacement for my self so can get back of not being charge. How ever as R/D turned constantly more demanding lead staff increase so there was never good enough moment to quit until got my confidence build enough that i no longer wanted just resign. Then we had big change is top as Grub had stepped down leaving CE to Woon and Klop became inactive and eventually retired Woon offered me FC position but i turned it down since i did not want more responsibility.

Things still worked well with out one. Until Woon started becoming less active slowing down decision making and he was about to hand CE to Mark with less experience in R/D matters i accepted FC role on second time so... here we are

MrHermit: Well, I think that is all I have for you. Is there anything you would like to say to finish out the interview?

Hame: hmmm. Could wrap up with moral of the story. Never think you are not good enough or that things are too hard or that you will be left alone on your troubles. Sometimes trying is the hardest step to take and its rarely any easier if you wait decade or week. So just go for it and do your best. That carries quite a far sine everyone who is no egomaniac underestimates them self.

MrHermit: Thank you for your time Hame

Hame: NP. Now to wrap the stuff I have needed to do whole day.

Hope to see you all next month, your XKI Update Staff is signing off!

TITO Update – February 2022

TITO Command

Has your region been invaded, or do you want to get in touch with TITO? If so, contact one of the following nations:
~Commander-in-Chief: Hakketomat
~Field Commander: Kanta Hame
~Tactical Officers: Smugglers and Mercs (TITO EF), Controlitia, Wischland, Sulenia, Flying Eagles, Thedairos
~Executive Officers: HN67, Eastern New England

The Update Update

Although it was only 28 days, the month of February was a long and busy one! TITO members deployed for ten defenses, three liberations, and five detags. However, most of the month was spent in various long-lasting missions including assisting in TSP’s delegate transition and helping natives clean up in several regions. Even in their off-time, TITO members had plenty to do with the newly-introduced TITO Squad Competitions. Troops were divided into three teams and given various tasks, including art design competitions, tech work, plus good old defending! Their first major activity was to design the first-ever TITO flag! Check back in next month to see the final result. But for now, check out the teams and their logos below!

TITO Interview

This month, we sat down to talk with TITO’s resident coding genius HN67 for the inside scoop on the life of a Technical Liaison.

Wisch: To start us off, how long have you been involved in coding and what first got you into it?
HN67: I've really been coding since late elementary, when I got into making little games / just messing around with something called GameMaker, and then in junior high I experimented a lot with batch scripting and something called Scratch. I made a lot of text-based adventure-ish things on the command line (by heavily abusing batch scripts) and various games on Scratch.
Wisch: That's quite a long time! How do you think those skills transferred over to you TL work?
HN67: Well it's made me always be quite comfortable with computers, so it was pretty natural when I started learning more powerful programming languages like python in high school. And I think the ability to explore / try out things is super valuable
Wisch: As Technical Liaison, you help code programs to improve TITO performance, along with other scripts for general NS usage. What has been your favorite project thus far?
HN67: Tough question. My favorite project is probably my API wrapper, but its a extremely broad project. A significant portion of my NS related programming has been connected with role as XO, in automating large / lengthy portions of various duties. Yeah I would say my API wrapper is my favorite project, cause its been a lot of fun to work on the actual core of the project, and then its really very extensible; I've used it to write an autologin, endotarter, card scripts, etc.
Wisch: I've certainly found it very helpful! And about how long have you spent on your API wrapper thus far?
HN67: Its hard to say; I started working on it over two years ago when I wanted to streamline endotarting for myself. I wouldn't be surprised if I have spent at least in the hundreds of hours range over two years
Wisch: Well, we thank you for your dedication. For our final question, what would you recommend to anyone looking to get into NS coding?
HN67: The main thing if you are trying to get into something is to have actual motivation, a project that you want to accomplish. Almost all of my programs have grown out of wanting to make something concrete, like an endotarter aid. The NS coding community is pretty welcoming too, so don't be afraid to ask others for advice; when I was getting started with NS coding that cards/coding community overlap was pretty active and helpful.

~The poet Lauerate competition was held this month with several submissions, congratulation to the winner “The Union Empire” with their entry “Determined”. To read all the wonderful submissions head here.

~The highly successful Interwar rp was held this month on the rp section of the XKI discord. Interwar was focused on RP’s nations recovery and development between WW1 and WW2. It was fascinating to watch the rise and fall of nations as they navigated their way through the treacherous times of the 20’s and 30’s.

~ The werewolf 75 game was held in the forums this month. Commiserations to the wolves for being unable to bring down Walmart due to the diligence of the Walmart staff. For a more detailed view of the game head to his thread.

Islander Achievements

~Well done to Porflox and Zaberaz Hapang for becoming Tito knights.

~Congratulations to Meropis for winning Tacovision V with their wonderful song The River by AURORA

XKI Game-Side

This month our favorite Regional Pollster, Jabberwocky, brought us another fantastic poll; the first one asked Islanders who will win the super bowl.

In the first poll, there were 152 voters, of which 31 (20.40%) said Rams, Stafford Gang in full force, 23 (15.13%) jumped on the hype train that was the Bengals, 81 (53.28%) people said with true British spirit “Sorry, old chap, but three dimensional chess is more appealing, wot?” And 17 (11.18%) said “Ha! I’d rather watch paint dry”

Well with the Rams winning the Super Bowl there was quite a few correct predictions, but really the winners of this poll have to be the three dimensional chess enthusiasts.

- And now after reading, scanning, and thorough research of the grand total of 263 RMB pages I hereby present to you the most hilarious, noteworthy or just plain ridiculous taken out of context messages…. Please somebody read them and make my hours of effort worthwhile. It would really really make my month.

~ kakorrhaphiophobia.... somebody get me a dictionary
~ We have ancients among us
~ I feel the pain
~ Three baffling statements
~ scratches head

Meet The Nation

This month our Emissary Udpate staff interviewed the incredible, rping, nation from down under Droganstein.
Mr Hermit: First off, how did you join NationStates and what made you pick XKI as a region?
Droganstein: A friend told me about Nationstates in a discord server and told me to join XKI.
Mr Hermit:What’s your favourite part about XKI as a region?
Droganstein: My favourite part is roleplaying.
Mr Hermit: I assume you took part in the recent interwar rp?
Droganstein: Yes I did.
Mr Hermit: What type of nation did you rp in Interwar?
Droganstein: My nation was Australia and it was a chaotic nation focused on national security.
MrHermit: Well, that is about all I have for you, anything you would like to finish off on?
Droganstein: Praise the almighty god Kante Hame.
MrHermit: Thanks for your time.

Hope to see you all next month, your XKI Update Staff is signing off!

TITO Update – March 2022

TITO Command

Has your region been invaded, or do you want to get in touch with TITO? If so, contact one of the following nations:
~Commander-in-Chief: Hakketomat
~Field Commander: Kanta Hame
~Tactical Officers: Smugglers and Mercs (TITO EF), Controlitia, Wischland, Flying Eagles, Thedairos
~Executive Officers: HN67, Eastern New England

The Update Update

TITO was super active this month, sending out troops to defend against noob raiders and support friendly regions. Throughout March, TITO pulled off 21 defenses, 5 liberations, and 13 detags. Additionally, updating TITO members spent a few updates switching between several friendly regions in support of their delegates, including XKI itself. Making the month even more remarkable, TITO has adopted an official flag for the first time ever. With dozens of submissions, TITO Command has a tough time picking the final design, but ultimately settled on this gorgeous flag by The Union Empire! Congratulations and thanks to everyone for their submissions!

Question of the Month

With update and update-based activities taking up several hours of TITO member’s day, it’s perhaps no surprise that our troops get a bit peckish. For some TITO members, update even falls right on their usual mealtime depending on their timezone. Luckily, our troops come well-prepared to update, arming themselves with various kinds of snacks to much on while chasing raiders through NationStates. This month, we asked TITO members what their go-to snack was. Tied at the top were cookies/sweets and chips, each with eight votes of support. Considering their ultimate snack status, it seems TITO members have good taste! Surprisingly, the next most popular option, with 7 votes, was to avoid snacking entirely. Beyond that, votes split between a variety of different options, including fruit and sandwiches. We spoke with several members to gain a better perspective of TITO’s snacking preferences.

~ MrHermit responded that they like to snack of chips throughout update for the simple reason that they “have them in the house fairly often”. Can’t really argue with that! MrHermit’s favorite chip flavor is the pain chip itself: salt and vinegar!

~ Saint Nassau has a sweet tooth and snacks on candy during update. Particularly, they recommend “Pé de Moleque”, a peanut-based candy. Sounds delicious, and like a great way to get an energy boost for late-night updates!

~ Valentian Elysium prefers to partake in some fresh fruit during update. His particular favorites are apples, though he also enjoys nectarines, plums, and grapes as well. All very scrumptious choices, and quite healthy!

~ Controlitia usually eats a peanut butter sandwich during update. The reason for it is simpler than you may think, as he usually has “a peanut butter sandwich for breakfast and minor's at breakfast time”. Fair enough!

~ Catalyse normally doesn’t snack during update, both because update is at the non-snackable time of 5pm, but also because “sticky hands from snacking make you slower at clicking the move button.” How very considerate for defending!

Actually pretty neat, although I'd have probably gone for a flaggified version of that shield you see on the top of all TITO reports myself :P
