I love the support of the 1IW, but so many have forgotten the time period and the equipment available at the time. Most countries are fighting beyond their national borders across water. During WW2 for each division of 15,000 men the US fielded, it required 55,000 men to get them there and keep them fighting, so you can say each division you field requires 70,000 men. Also the longest range aircraft of the time was the B-29 Superfortress which had a range of 6,000 miles (9700 km), which means that it would have a combat radius of only some 2000 miles (3200 km). The first one wasn't built till 1942 and did go into actual combat till 1944. People also are putting moving large numbers of troops over great distances. It took nearly 7,000 British and US ships to move 156,000 troops 150 miles (240 km) across the English Channel for the Normandy Invasion, and it took the US navy 703 ships including 113 amphibious and 93 support to land 153,000 men on Okinawa. Realistic speaking I don't think any of our countries can match the economic and military power of the US at this time.
So when you are figuring the fighting strength of your country, divide the number of troops your country can mobilize and divide this by 70,000 for your divisions. You shouldn't have more then 1 airborne, 2 stretching it, 3 or 4 Marine Divisions, and no more then 1 armored division for 8 infantry divisions, this is the average of both the US Army and German Army. Those with large mountainous regions can replace some infantry with mountain troops, rarely over 6. Training the troops takes about 13 weeks, equipping a new division with weapons, vehicles, etc. takes a lot longer. Except for the US and Britain, every other country used horses as their primary means of transportation. Germany only produced some 350,000 trucks for their military during WW2, Canada produced 850,000, Britain 500,000, and US 2.5 million. Romania, the most powerful of the second tier nations was only able to produce 10 trucks a day.
Now those countries fighting on land only can get away with a divisional slice of German and Russian divisions was only about twice the size of a combat division. A German division of 17.500 men required a divisional slice of 35,000, the Russian Division of 18,000 men of 40,000 men.
Logistics was even more important since a division's trains carried only enough equipment to last three days of fighting. A European style Army required 700 tons of supplies for an Infantry Division and 1100 tons of supplies for a mobile division per day, the Japanese who required their soldiers to forage for extra food was able to get by on about half that, but over 480,000 Japanese soldiers died of starvation.
Since most of the campaigns require ship movement, a cargo ship takes three days to load and unload at a port and six days using lighters to ferry the supplies ashore. A cargo ship can cover only some 660 km per day.
Some will think about supplying by air, the most common plane the Skytrain could only carry 3 tons of supplies or 28 troops, so suppling a division per day would take close to 250 aircraft.
Lastly the importance of supply depots. A division can only operate effectively about 250 km from its supply depot, which has to itself be supplied from the ports, so combat was usually weeks between action, since an army can only move so much supplies per day, railroads and waterways are the most effective.
I know we try to remain a certain level of realism, so I have included this to give a little more information on what your generals will face in getting troops to the battlefield, have the ability to conduct the battle, and what to do when the battle is over, one way or another.
H\Just one more thing, armies move slow, a mobile corps can only move about 32 km a day, an infantry one about 8 km.

Perhaps initially, but one of Ioudaia's early strategic objectives would be to turn it into a Free Powers lake, starting with the nearest seas (North Mesder Sea, Arrowhead Sea (between Nhoor and Grotere Leithania), and Tyshirean Sea (immediately south of Ioudaia). We really need more sea names to make talking about IW naval theaters and battles easier.

I was thinking that FP sea control (or at least sea denial) would lead to the collapse of the KK invasion of Domanania, as sustaining an overseas invasion against FP wolf packs and Ioudaian and Doman land-based airpower is at least very expensive, and ultimately futile once heavy FP surface forces are available. Whether the KKs evacuate while they can or whether there's the usual, um, humanitarian excession against the isolated KK forces in Domanania is an interesting question.

Ioudaia would next push to liberate Nhoor and Serpens Land, since they're close by, and Ioudaia will have to develop ships, weapons, doctrine, and training for amphibious operations. Some of those are easier against closer objectives than farther ones.

So, a question for the FP players: do we develop an overarching strategy against the Neo-Imps? If so, when? Is one already established?

I suggested it would be a struggle as both Serpens Land has said he doesn't want themselves liberated during the war - and the conversations I've had regarding Nhoor seem to be they can't be liberated by themselves as it messes with their post-war timeline. This lack of a unified FP naval presence in the North Mesder will be a problem; until 1943/44 when Altera officially joins the war against the Imps; winning decisive naval engagements in the North Mesder.

In regards to the liberation of Keverai; as discussed on Discord with Ainslie, the Alteras would advance from the south, in a diversionary attack (known as Operation Fool's Gambit) in a bid to split and confused Imperial forces in the capital - as part of the greater April Fool's Battle.

Prior to 1943, Alteran involvment in the war appears to be minimal - focusing on further building up their forces and reinforcing elements of the Commonwealth - Atolla and Aprosia especially. Following the fall of Serpens Land, and the invasion of Domanania, Alteran special operations will conduction operations in both nations; namely training and equipping resistance movements - and, possibly, minor commando operations. In the meantime, Altera came to the conclusion that rather than invading both Domanania, Serpens Land and Nhoor to liberate them, the same goal can be achieved by sabotaging Imp supply lines. This would ramp up in 1943 until 1944 with submarine operations (Battle of North Mesder) and a large naval conflict between Altera and Imperial Forces.

A maritime victory in North Mesder for Altera and the Free Powers would signal the beginning of the end of Imperial operations in the North Mesder.

1944
Nothing set in stone; but Altera would be fighting naval engagements across North Mesder, pushing out Imperial forces in South Mesder later in the year. Minor commando operations would continue to operate within Serpens Land and Nhoor to sabotage Imperial Forces; as well as continued bombing campaigns against Imperial targets.

1945 - 47
Thus far I've not had any conversations regarding Altera's role in this period. Altera would be ramping up to amphibious and airborne operations in this time. I'd be grateful for suggestions of where Altera could 'slot in' or conduct operations. An invasion/liberation of Segentova could be on the cards; but I've had no discussions about this - so that idea isn't set in stone.

1948
As Altera is officially involved in the Keverai campaign, it would make sense for Alterans to have assisted elsewhere at the same time. Again, suggestions on how Altera can assist would be grateful.

So, guys I think we all should like establish our populations during the Imperial War period so we can have realistic numbers of fighting forces.

I will start.

The Khas-Kirat Empire, counting only Vendriothos (mainland Magarat) and nobody else that I conquered during this time period, would have had a population of 25 million. At its peak in 1946-1947 (by the time the invasion of Vendrithos itself had already started), the Imperial Khas-Kirati Army had 4 million personnel with 3 million being combat troops (earlier when I would be the one invading, the standard division had 20,000 fighting force with 30,000 divisional slice). For the Imperial Khas-Kirati Navy and the Air Force, I have yet to decide.

Tagging on here, I don't have the complete number here but all things tell me that the population of the mainland United Republics would be around 14.5-15.5 million at the start of the Imperial War with a total available manpower of around 1.15-2 million over the course of the war, possibly more by war's end. Including possible manpower accessible by Doraltic colonies, I could reasonably add another 115 thousand or so. In short, the United Republics Army would be relatively small compared to other major players but it doesn't need to be very large since Doraltic involvement was mostly contained to the far end of the war and some post-war cleanup operations. By contrast, the Navy would grow remarkably during the war with the construction of several new capital ships and an equally large mix of other surface combatants, submarines, and fleet auxiliaries.

In 1939, the Dominion of Serpens Land would have had a population of around 7 million.

The Serpens Land Army would have had a force of around 78,000. Most of the Serpens Land Army at the time would not have been mechanised. There was one armoured brigade operating a TBD armoured car and one light armoured reconnaissance brigade. The majority of the Serpens Land Army, however, would be on foot.

The Royal Serpens Land Navy would have operated 16 vessels at the time of the KK invasion: 3 light cruisers, 4 destroyers, 5 frigates, 2 coastal defence ships, and 2 minesweepers. The majority of the Serpens Land fleet would be old and outdated with the exception of Lonsdale (!British Leander Class).

The Royal Serpens Land Air Force would not have been a formidable force against the KK invasion. The majority of it's aircraft were old and outdated. The KK air force would also destroy most of Serpens Land's aircraft and airfields in the bombing raids prior to the land invasion.

There was also around 12,000 Serpens Land Army personnel, 4 ships, and 5 aircraft in Diachen at the time of the KK invasion. These units would not have participated in the defence of Serpens Land.

The majority of Serpens Land units would surrender on 21 September 1939 and would be placed under command of the Serpens Land Free State following its establishment on 1 October 1939. HMSLS Lonsdale, and Ajax would escape to the Alteran Republics carrying the Serpens Land government in exile. A further 3 ships: HMSLS St Andrew, Fearless, and Bramber were at sea at the time of the surrender. St Andrew and Fearless would go to Domanania while Bramber would go to Altera. Units stationed in Diachen would stay in Diachen until it fell in 1943.

When it comes to pushing the invasion back 2 years is fine. Give Doman troop numbers to swell up, which could throw off the initial invasion plans. Such as the plan was to invade in 36, but the invasion of Serpens Land took priority for a staging ground, and so numbers were off by the time of invasion.

Between the FWD and Junta forces, they had no more than 200,000 ground troops (roughly 150,000 for the Junta, and 50,000 Soldiers/Partisans of the FWD), and between them 3 interwar carriers, 6 battleships, 4 heavy cruisers, 12 light cruisers, 37 destroyers, and 40 submarines. These forces were split between the forces, and 1/3-1/2 of them would get sunk in the first months of the invasion. Domanania was a naval player in the 20's-30's and would have posed a serious threat to KK forces as a unified force. However, being split made coordination difficult. Ioudaia would have to take up the naval burden, having to deal with two halves of the same fleet that don't want to work together. Ontop of the fact the airforce was outdated and small in number.

If SL navies tried to find safe harbor in Domanania, they would have to pick a side to support in the civil war, making the choice difficult. They could hide in FWD territory and make an enemy of the Junta ("Legitimate" Government but a military dictatorship) or side with the Junta and be used to strengthen the legitimacy of a military government. I am fine with either choice, but SL would have to make the choice. And of course both sides would refuse to turn over the ships.

I also had an idea for getting Ioudaia involved in the war besides the ship. I had this idea that sometime in the first year of the war the KK's would attempt to directly invade the capital, in a swift end to the war. However, the Capital is very near the Ioudaian border, and we share a water way next to it. So it could be possible the KK forces asked for permision to land troops and invade from the south, similar to belgium in WW1, and land troops despite Ioudaian protests, and then taking it as an invasion of them as well. And also in this fight, it completely repels the invading forces and deals a good blow to the navy as well, and then shortly after that the KK's can ask for the ceasefire you mentioned.

This is a random, mostly inconsequential detail, but it came up as Laeden and I were discussing the history surrounding Sunset Isle, for that RP. I thought I'd put it down here. The excerpt from the Sunset Isle factbook:

During the First Imperial War, the Sunset Isle remained almost completely untouched. Martenyika considered plans to occupy the island and utilize it as a naval outpost, likely for submarines if not other craft, however these plans never came to fruition due to strategic and logistical priorities.

...the Martenyikan Royal Navy submarine RMNS Albatross surfaced just off the shore of Sunset Isle during a war patrol. Some of the Albatross' crew disembarked and made their way onto the shore with cameras and a Martenyikan flag, which they used to take a few photographs and short video reels before leaving. Once they returned home, the videos and images quickly became a hit amongst Martenyikan wartime propaganda.

Depending on which growth model I use, I can back-project Ioudaia having 9-12 million people in 1939. For these purposes, I'm going to say 10 million, because that makes the math easy.

The 1% rule gives Ioudaia about 100k men under arms in peacetime. In the time between the KK invasions of Domanania ('38) and Serpens Land (earlier in '39), it's possible Ioudaia went to a war footing during '39, but I'm not sure how many more men could have been trained and armed before the KKs show up at Ioudaia's doorstep.

And some thoughts on Ioudaia's armed forces during '39:

* Land forces: since Ioudaia would be rearming during the Doman Civil War and supporting one Doman faction with arms and supplies, Ioudaia probably has started modernizing its own infantry weapons. Some formations have modern weapons, but most don't. But armor and artillery are out of date, since serious fighting on land wasn't on the strategists' mind until the KK invasion of Domanania. New tanks and guns would be under development. During the period, Ioudaia has a preference for assault guns over tanks.

* Naval forces: generally old, with some modern units available. While Ioudaia's admirals wanted newer ships, peacetime budgets limited construction. I have some ideas for models of the sorts of modern ships Ioudaia would have:

* An aircraft carrier, with a poor design like the first generation of Japanese carriers. At least as large as the Ryujo but smaller than the Kaga. That is, with stacked hangars for a large air group, but with all the problems that implies, and inadequate defenses. At least they go fast and are maneuverable.

* A pair of big scout cruisers like the Tones with plenty of floatplanes for scouting. I think these will end up more like BCs than CHs, with fewer, heavier guns, on the old cruiser model of being able to outrun what it can't outgun, and outgun what it can't outrun.

* A bunch of light cruisers, a squadron or so available, and more under construction. These will be pretty close to the Arethusas.

* And a detail: Ioudaia's torpedoes are primitive for the period. I was thinking they'd be using something like the WW1 German H8 in '39. This negates a lot of the advantage the !Tones' abundance of torpedo tubes provides.

* Air forces (Air Armada and naval aircraft): relatively modern with modern designs just starting to enter production. Aircraft are cheaper than ships, so keeping some squadrons up to date with other squadrons getting hand-me-down aircraft seems reasonable during peace.

Just to make things clear again.

Before the Imperial War officially starts in 1941, I aka Khas-Kirat Empire will be in charge of all operations in Raedlon and North Mesder. Which means that the Khas-Kirati invasions of Nhoor, southern Serpens Land, Domanania and Ioudaia would all have been conducted by me.

The Christmas Deal of 1940 between Neo-Imperialists powers grants KK-occupied Remodio to United Partitions and transfers all "Neo-Imperialist operations in Greater Raedlon" to Mikovia, who will be granted KK-occupied 2/3rds Nhoor, lordship over puppet states in Nhoor and southern Serpens Land in exchange for alliance.

Hmm, can I still take back my proposal of having Hintuwan get invaded by Doravo during the Imperial War? I have decided that I would rather house D&S' democratic government during the Denis administration.

Mercadejas and the Muog movement will still be canon though, but to a lesser degree. They will instead be fascist volunteers who will travel to various Neo-Imperialist countries to fight as auxillaries.

I feel like Costavozka would join the Free Powers, but actual offensive support would be minimal until around 1944, due to the limited numbers of troops pre-war and the defensive doctrine in place until then. I’ll accept more ideas and feedback as needed, as well as update info as I read more on this. Let me know if you have ideas on my involvement.

I would like to have San Jimenez have some presence in the Imperial War. San Jimenez at this point in history would be significantly weak, poor, and almost entirely insignificant in world affairs. But, I would like San Jimenez's origins to be found in the Imperial War. What I have written is just an idea of what San Jimenez's role would be in the IW.

1943
- The First Republic of San Jimenez collapses amidst an invasion of the island by Neo-Imperialist forces (I'm not sure which Neo-Imperialist nation would be willing to launch an invasion of San Jimenez. There would be a collaboration by traitors in the First Republic to allow a smooth invasion of the country with little Neo-Imperialist casualties.) After the fall of the First Republic, a puppet government is established by the Neo-Imperialists that retained hold of the country for the majority of the war. Perhaps SJ is used as a base of operations? Not too sure, it'd be up to whoever is willing to take over the country. A Second Republic of San Jimenez is established and operates in secretiveness in San Jimenez.

1943-48
- Jimenean Resistance fighters of the Second Republic orchestrate various attacks and raids on the pro-imperialist government in San Jimenez.

1948
- The Jimenean Second Republic, in a desperate attempt, overthrows the puppet government of San Jimenez. The collapse of the puppet government coincides with the fall of Neo-Imperialist forces across the Isles. The Second Republic will later hold its first free and fair elections marking the beginning of modern-day San Jimenez.

It is all very brief but this is generally what I am looking for. As I said, SJ would be almost entirely insignificant due to a weak economy, military, and influence. If anything, it would just be a place to have as a base of operations. The dates above can be changed if needed.

Dormill and Stiura wrote:Now that I'm fully back in it, I want to give a true and definitive update to this, and present a full timeline of events that Dormill and Stiura experienced throughout the entire Imperial War.
  • 1939, August: The Dutch Republics and Ardeda separately declare independence from the United Republics, citing a large list of abuses levied against them by Ludvoic Denis and his Revolution and Restoration Party. Any remaining Doraltic colonies internationally also assert their independence, the existing governments taking over from former central authority directly.
  • 1939, September: Nullifying the Constitution, Ludvoic Denis assumes complete control over the United Republics, directing military and paramilitary forces to invade and retake the seceding Republics. Mutinies across the Army and Navy against Denis undermines initial operations.
  • 1940, January: Navy mutiny ends with Adm. Lukas Monet Jr. taking 2 Battleships, a Heavy Cruiser, and an assortment of smaller ships to Swaneeak Atoll. He would eventually join the Free Powers and fight alongside the Osean Navy against Doravo and Collie.
    • Army Mutiny ends in an officer purge, most replacements are retired officers from the Great War and the rest are ideologically aligned to Denis.
  • 1940, Late January: With the military back under control, Denis orders an invasion of Ardeda through the Van Curan Valley, which is met with limited resistance by an ill-prepared Ardedan force.
    • First Van Curan Valley Campaign ends in major victory of Denisian forces, Boissieux and Enoire are captured, Ardedan forces flee to the border or to Temple, where they will hold out for the rest of the war.
  • 1940, March: Denisian forces cross the Kapolder for the first time since the initial fighting started, the City of Kapolder remains a major area of fighting, but mobile tank forces encircle the city from South Kapolder. International volunteers from AM, Roendavar, Ostehaar, Doravo, and other coming powers, would begin filtering into the war.
  • 1940, April: Tank forces push out from Kapolder, capturing Veldzicht before most of the anti-Denisian government could escape. Merv De Vries, leader of anti-Denisian forces, would escape to Stafford under cover of darkness.
    • 28 April: Kapolder surrenders, POWs would be taken to prison camps in the far east while civilians are redistributed from the city. Mass rape and atrocities, paritcularly of a sectariain variety, are committed against the civilian population. The oldest church in Kapolder is also destroyed by Denisian tanks in a show of force.
  • 1940, Late April: Infantry reaches Veldzicht, Panzergrenadiers (or the nearest equivalent to early mechanized infantry) are formed and join tank forces in Vroomenstadt and on the approach to Stafford.
  • 1940, May: Tank skirmish in central Stiura between Denisian and anti-Denisian forces, Helle becomes the next target for conquest.
    • Air and Naval bombardment of Stafford, Port Orange, and New Leeuwarden begin in earnest, crippling anti-Denisian morale.
  • 1940, June: Helle falls in late May, tank forces directly threaten Eppendorf and Zwolle. Bombardment of Port Orange, Stafford, and New Leeuwarden intensifies, Denis starts demanding the surrender of De Vries and the end of the conflict.
  • 1940, July: De Vries escapes to Roendavar alongside a core group of supporters, orders remaining forces in Stiura to surrender. Most would, excluding leftist forces, who escape to Kettingwier, and then Vlagberg, to continue the fight.
  • 1940, August: Denis declares victory in the Doraltic Civil War, uses the war as pretense for maintaining power and mobilizing the economy and population.
    • Naval Plan "CURTAIN CALL” is enacted, United Republics begins massive shipbuilding program in direct violation of the Nolon (or replacement) Naval Treaty, it would produce 5 battleships, 8 light carriers, 6 fleet carriers, 8 battlecruisers, 5 heavy cruisers, and a plethora of other ships over the course of the Imperial War.
  • 1940, September: Manhunt for De Vries begins in earnest, secret police are deployed en masse to hunt for him, his cabal, or any sympathizers. The secret police would also use this as an excuse to hunt and imprison people contrary to Denis’ vision of the nation, starting with non-Europeans.
  • 1940, November: The Foreign Intelligence Directorate confirms that Merv De Vries has resettled in Docaria, Roendavar, under protection of the Roendavarian government as “President of the Interim National Congress of Dormill and Stiura”.
    • 6 November: Denis would issue an ultimatum to the Roendavarian government to surrender De Vries and his collaborators to Dormill and Stiura for crimes against the state and people. It is set for two weeks.
  • 1940, 14 November: The Roendavarian response is not forthcoming, Denis arranges forces near Roendavarian-Doraltic border, including reusing the old star fort near the Malis River.
  • 1940, 20 November: With no response from Roendavar, Dormill and Stiura declares war and invades, sweeping aside initial forces at Faerin and Relanthir.
    • Both cities would suffer greatly during the war, becoming the main points where Roendavarian civilians and POWs are sent before being brought into D&S, or as the war drew to a close, were killed en masse.
  • 1941, January: Vastaros is entirely overrun by Denisian forces, Lantaroci holds out with naval aid provided by the Roendavarian Navy. Mieras falls in mid-January, opening the door to Docaria.
  • 1941, 16 March: Simultaneous attacks across the Isles by Magarati, Doravan, Colliean, Martenykian, and Doraltic forces marks the official start of the Imperial War, with the Neo-Imperialist representatives meeting in Concordia to establish their alliance.
  • 1941, April: Althoros falls, Doraltic forces begin to invade the outskirts of Docaria. De Vries and Roendavarian leadership remain in the city to organize the defense.
  • 1941, April - 1944, October: The Battle of Roendavar persists for three long years, as Neo-Imperialist and Free Power forces trade blows and territory until, finally, Doraltic forces are dislodged from their dug-in positions across Docaria.
    • During this time, Doraltic forces would participate, on a limited basis, in the war across the Isles, including defending points of interest in Collie, Martneykia, and Doravo, assisting in the Keverai Campaign, and fighting in the Eterna.
    • Ostehaar would also join the war in 1941, though fighting in the east is limited thanks to limited forces and effective defenses.
    • On the Naval front, the new Doraltic Navy would focus its attention on convoy raiding in the Argean, attempting to undermine shipments to Segentova and Altera in support of their war effort.
  • 1945, January: Doraltic forces are driven entirely out of Docaria, and increased pressure is put on northern forces at Caenera, they will be dislodged from their positions by the end of the month.
  • 1946, February: Free Powers forces invade Dormill and Stiura through Roendavar, New Leeuwarden is declared a frontline city and intense fighting consumes the area. Vlagberg is also attacked around the same time, and forces are diverted there to defend.
  • 1946, June: New Leeuwarden and Vlagberg are overwhelmed, Port Orange is abandoned and new defenses are made at Zwolle, Eppendorf, and Stafford.
  • 1946, July: At the exact same time a major offensive begins along the Orange River, a Free Powers invasion of Ambreieux changes the situation of the war entirely.
  • 1946, 21 July - 1 September: Defenses in the North Coast fall apart, great swathes of land are taken by Free Powers up to Abancourt, where a new defensive line is made.
  • 1946: September: River-based defenses at Zwolle fall, largest loss of soldiers, industry, and civilian population throughout the entire war.
  • 1946, 30 October: Partisans and special forces, led by Merv De Vries, [a Roendavarian general], and [an Alteran general], infiltrate Cour Rouge and capture Ludvoic Denis and parts of his cabal. Organized defense of Dormill and Stiura collapse by the next day.
  • 1946, 18 November: Free Powers forces cross the Kapolder river at Vellemoz, General Bernard Fèvre, then Chief of the Army staff, surrendered that evening, ending all organized fighting between Dormill and Stiura and the Free Powers.
  • 1947, 1 January: Ludvoic Denis is forced to sign an unconditional surrender of Dormill and Stiura to the Free Powers while imprisoned in Nolon City (or replacement). He would be publicly executed by guillotine a year later after standing trial and testifying to war crimes at the post-war tribunal.

As always, this list is subject to changes and updates as the Imperial War changes around us but this is, at its core, the full canon timeline that D&S experienced for the Imperial War.

I swear, this is the last time I intend to change my Imperial War timeline, Gaeltic neutrality and changes in the dynamics of the war in Roendavar mean that D&S as a Neo-Imperialist (and especially the following post-war state of division) no longer works. However, most of this timeline is going to remain the same up until November 6, 1940, which is where I will do my new timeline from. [Events in brackets are of undetermined canon but have been discussed or would have a clear logic with respect to other canon events]
  • 1940, 6 November: Judging the situation regarding Merv De Vires and Roendavar, Ludovic Denis decides that pursuing an all-out war against Roendavar for the life of a single traitor will interfere with his wider plans for "Gael Utopia", his fascist dream of a fully Europeanized Gael under Doraltic rule. He instead directs the Foreign Intelligence Directorate to make every other effort to bring De Vires to justice. [Merv De Viers would use the opportunity to escape to Hintuwan with the "Free Doraltic Fleet".]*
  • 1940, December: Sensing an opportunity to enhance the abilities of his military further and especially to interfere with the operations of Lukas Monet Jr.'s "Free Doraltic Fleet" in the Southern Sea, Denis orders the creation of a naval and marine task group to draw the Free Fleet into a chasing engagement. This would eventually end with the two naval groups clashing during the [Invasion of Hintuwan (Keomoran Invasion of Doravo)] and the decimation of the Free Fleet.
  • 1941, January-March: As the state of diplomacy in Argus deteriorates, Denis is sought out by representatives from [Doravo], the Khas-Kiriat Empire, and Martenykia discussing a possible alliance to break the chains of the Rickemonde Accords. Denis ultimately decides for a policy of armed neutrality in line with the rest of Gael, content to stay out of the coming conflict.
  • 1941, 16 March: On the Ides of March, Khas-Kiriat and Tsunter forces attack San Montagna simultaneously, beginning the Imperial War. The Khas-Kiriat Empire closes the Doraltic embassy in Tapu Sahar and Denis closes the Khas-Kiriat embassy in Cour Rouge in response.
  • 1941, March-August: Volunteer forces are organized by Denis' political party, the Revolution and Restoration Front, to assist Neo-Imperialist forces in the Isles, namely during several battles at the end of the San Montagnan campaign.
  • 1941, September-December: The Neo-Imperialist invasion of Aizcona begins at some point before 1942, during which Martenykia formally joins the war and cuts diplomatic ties to Dormill and Stiura. Denisian volunteers participate in the campaign briefly before being declared persona non grata by Neo-Imperialist commanders.
  • 1941, Late November: [Segentova joins the war on the side of the Free Powers following an unprovoked attack by the Elsiczk Kingdom. The Khas-Kiriat Empire jointly invades Segentova from the south, swiftly taking control of the Central Canal.]
  • 1942, January: Southern Segentova falls completely to the Neo-Imperialist forces [,with Khas-Kiriat and Elziczk forces meeting late in the month, completely securing the coast of the Karnali Sea on the east]. Denis has a crisis of consciousness as he debates intervening to the aid of his French brethren or allowing the Neo-Imperialists to win in Segentova, giving him space to operate in Gael.
  • 1942, Febuary: The Khas-Kiriat Empire [and Elziczk Kingdom] launch the invasion of Solaryia, opening the Raedlon front of the Imperial War. Denis uses this opportunity to deliver a regular army force to Segentova as "volunteers", seeking to stabilize the front against the Neo-Imperialists and drive demand for war materiel.
  • 1942, May-July: Regardless of Doraltic efforts, the Segentovan front is pushed further north, prompting tensions to flare between the Khas-Kiriat Empire and Denis' government for the latter's involvement.
    • Simultanious to the events in Segentova, the Khas-Kiriat Empire launches an invasion of the International Island and soon thereafter, Roendavar, bringing the war to Gael. Gaeltic governments protest the move but do not immediately respond with increased escalation.
  • 1942, July-December: Oscotia, the only Gaeltic nation to directly intervene in the war at this point, is forced to retreat from Roendavar to Arvan. [Fortunately for Roendavar, defenses on the way to the Eternal City of Dociara hold throughout the rest of the year, stalling the Khas-Kiriat advance on the Faris River.]
    • In December, the Solaryian government capitulates to the Neo-Imperialists, though forces continue to resist Khas-Kiriat occupation. [Other Raelosi nations at this point fully join the war and begin planning for a liberation.]
  • 1943, January-June: At some point in early 1943, Denis reaches an agreement with Oscotia to allow the Oscotian Air Force to base its bomber fleet in Dormill and Stiura in exchange for handing over Arvan at the end of the war. This action definitively marks the end of Doraltic neutrality in the war although it does not officially join the war until later.
  • 1943, August 22: With Serpens Land capitulated by Neo-Imperialist forces, the Serpens Lander government escapes to the Alteran Republics. Neo-Imperialist forces, primarily those of the Khas-Kiriat Empire and the Kuzzah Republic, invade the Serpens Lander territory of Daichen, an island off the coast of Kuzzah and Keverai, to take advantage of the disorder, starting the Keverai Campaign
    • 23 August: Forces of Keverai enter Diachen in support of Serpens Lander forces, but are similarly overwhelmed over the following two days by a numerically superior Neo-Imperialist force. The Free Doraltic Fleet begins sailing for Keverai to assist.
  • 1943, September-November: The Charbagnian Imperial Revolt, a pro-Neo-Imperialist coup perpetrated by the German minority population with the intent to join the war and conquer the Southern Sea, is repressed by a joint Denisian-Free Fleet naval and marine operation. This rehabilitates the relationship between the Free Fleet and Denis' government, who grants the former amnesty for their mutiny and reestablishes the central chain of command to the rest of the Doraltic Navy. [Subsequently, Dormill and Stiura unofficially fully enters the war against the Neo-Imperialists as the Doraltic Navy begins convoy raiding operations against Doravo in support of an imminent Keomoran-Osean invasion.]
  • 1944, January-March: Denis' government and Oscotia come to a secret agreement regarding the Oscotian plan to land forces in Roendavar to push back the Khas-Kiriat forces. In order to continue the impression that Dormill and Stiura is still supportive of the Neo-Imperialists goals, a mock invasion of Arvan is conducted to allow for the secret redeployment of Oscotian and Doraltic forces in preparation for the invasion.
    • Simultaniously, Doraltic forces begin to muster near the Roendavarian border to provide the bulk of the liberation force.
  • 1944, 17 March: The town of Veithan, on the Vastaros side of the Faris river, falls to Khas-Kiriat forces, Vastarosi Guard forces regroup in Aelceir.
  • 1944, April 21: The city of Aelceir is captured by the Khas-Kiriat forces. The remaining Vastarosi Guard retreats to the state capital of Lantaroci and joins the defense of the city against a fast-advancing Khas-Kiriat tank force.
  • 1944, May 4: R-Day, the Free Powers liberation of Roendavar, begins. Naval and air forces from Oscotia, Keomora, the Osean Empire, and eventually Dormill and Stiura, land forces in Lantaroci unopposed and immediately repulses the Khas-Kiriat force. Dormill and Stiura declare war against the Khas-Kiriat Empire at Noon that day.
  • Before the end of 1944: [Free Powers naval and marine forces, including Lukas Monet Jr.'s fleet, cross the Southern Canal under enemy fire, they intend to assist Raleosi forces in the liberation of Serpens Land and Domanania.] The Doman-Magrati War ends in a Khas-Kiriat retreat. [Simultaneously, Khas-Kiriat forces retreat from Serpens Land as supply lines are completely broken in the North Mesder. Free Powers forces prepare for the liberation of Solaryia and invasion of Argus.] The Alteran Republics formally enters the war and deploys forces across the Western Isles in support of ongoing Free Powers operations.
  • 1945: The fortunes between the Free Powers and the Neo-Imperialists in Argus reverses, the following events happen
    • The Tsunterlands is invaded by a combined Jergian-Aizconan force which opens up a corridor to San Montagna.
    • The Raelosi Free Powers invade the Argean coast of the Karali Sea, the combined navies of the Neo-Imperialists are broken during the Second Battle of the Karnali Sea from 11-12 August, paving the way for the Liberation of San Montagna and the invasion of Vendriothos [and the invasion of the Elsiczk Kingdom]
    • The Battle of Dociara ends in Free Powers victory; Oscotian and Doraltic forces progressively and quickly push Khas-Kiriat forces out of Roendavar.
  • 1946: Doraltic forces participate in the final battles of the war proper, including the fall of Vendriothos and the liberation of San Montagna.

Alright, guess I have to come back to this at some point now that more things have changed about the Imperial War and people joined or left.

After some further consideration, I've come to the conclusion to return Ludovic Denis' Dormill and Stiura to an antagonist on a major condition: Unless I'm convinced otherwise, I don't believe it's possible for the Free Powers to coordinate an invasion and occupation of Dormill and Stiura simultaneously to the other campaigns they fought towards the end of the war. That said, the war will still turn against Denis but he does not surrender unconditionally and leaves the war with a kind of "Peace with Honor" that reverts the conditions to antebellum. The exception to this is that Dormill and Stiura will still participate in the campaign to liberate Roendavar from the end of 1944 through 1946. This does also mean that Dormill and Stiura does not side with the Neo-Imperialists as it had its own mission of spreading Fraternalism that deeply conflicted with the objectives as I understand them from the Neo-Imps.

As for what Dormill and Stiura did from 1941 through 1944, it remained mostly neutral in the first years but coordinated efforts to bring down the aforementioned Free Doraltic Fleet which eventually dragged D&S into conflict with San Jiminez (as outlined in his post), Razzgriz (and his wider empire), and possibly Renet, Yursea, Coldwoods, Hyukai, and Doravo as Denis made a drive to establish a line of communication between Gael and Fraternalist Hintuwan. At some point in the transition into the late war, these efforts fail and D&S is driven away from the eastern Southern Sea when Denis decides to get out of the war via a conditional surrender. Among those conditions would have been reparations, a reversal of the political situation, a disarming of the former combat zone, and Doraltic participation in the Liberation of Roendavar and the Invasion of Vendriothos. After that, D&S is left ostracised as a (very possible, I want this to happen) Fraternalist-Democratic Cold War begins to bubble.

Alright so, with the sad departure of Athara Magarat from the canon, my nation’s history, and the Imperial War canon in general is very messed up. I’ve heard people are already in the process of making a rework of the conflict, but I just wanted to send my concept of Solaryia’s potential role in the conflict.

Mentions Scaedia Keomora United Partitions Costavozka

Imperial War concept, just in case:

-In the 1920s/1930s, due to economic problems and civil unrest, a lot of colonies art art to break away from Solaryia, with the electoral monarchy starting to be seen as weak.

-In the mid 1930s, an ambitious young monarch takes power after the suprise death of the prior in a shipwreck, and claims to want to bring Solaryia back to the level of influence that it had decades prior.

-They spark several new programs, but particularly starts to strengthen the military, greatly building up the navy and modernizing the army. In order to help with this, they start to get closer relations with Keomora, a historically close nation culture wise and one of Argus’s preeminent powers, as well as Salismania.

-On the civil front, he starts to centralize power around the monarchy itself, taking power away from many of the influential noble families and various governmental factions that had been the leading forces in the weakening of the state prior to their ascension.

-They attempt to stay relatively neutral as they build up their armed forces, however by 1938/1939 Argus is already at war, and they view this as a perfect time to strike at Raedlon and various other colonies across the Mesder, helped by Keomoran pressure to join the war.

-Around 1940, hoping for a quick enemy surrender, they launch a surprise attack on military bases across Scaedia, Costavozka, and potentially Belantica, as well as naval and aerial assaults across Mesder. This is one of the first times that paratroopers and modern military equipment is used in Raedlon for a large scale conflict, and shocks the other powers.

-Large swathes of Scaedia, Belantica, and the Mesder fall to Solaryi occupation, and Solaryia soldiers are sent to assist in the fight to help in Argus and Gael

-Against Costavozka, the Solaryi navy seized supremacy in the Karnali sea and launches a blockade, however it dissolves into a stalemate with Solaryi forces unable to penetrate enemy shore defenses.

-However, by 1943-1944, it becomes clear that Solaryia, with its comparatively small population compared to the other states, has overstretched its military, and they start to get pushed back, particularly as they lose a decisive naval battle to <insert FP country here>.

-By 1945 and 1946, they’re pushed back to various island holdouts and the peninsula itself, however the large amounts of fortifications, mountainous cold climate, and small numbered but very well trained veteran troops are able to hold the line.

-In late 1946, the monarch is killed, either by assassination or in some sort of battle, which makes the country fall into chaos. A group of nobles seizes temporary power and come to the negotiating table, losing Solaryia nearly all of their remaining colonies and conquered land, as well as large portions of their two exclaves on Raedlon, which can no longer be militarized, along with Rosendål island. (However they would eventually retake these territories from Scaedia in the 1980s during their civil war.

-Despite bringing peace, a large portion of the now devastated and very angry population of the country feels that the elective monarchy and nobles have completely failed them, and a prospective new leader and military hero named Ensi Alsen starts to become influential in the late 1940s.

Any thoughts or opinions regarding this? This is just a very very rough draft I made on discord, so I intend on improving and detailing it far more as the new canon is fleshed out.

So we've officially written AM out of TWI canon? Domanania and I have a lot of work to do then, and not just for the IW.

I'd like to flesh out Hintuwan's role in the Free Powers invasion of Athara Magarat. What are some significant battles which Hintuwan could have fought during this time?

Technically not yet, since some members are still holding out hope that he’ll come back, but sadly I don’t believe he will given that he didn’t reapply to join the map. For the Imperial War, I believe we’re going to be rewriting the whole thing, maybe even with a new thread.

Check above, given that AM is gone we’re rewriting the war, so you’ll likely have a lot of opportunities to have some new battles.

Concept for Costavozka’s Involvement in the Imperial War (Solaryia’s Concept of the IW):

  • 1843: New Edevar is seized from Solaryí control during the Costavozkan War of Unity in an attempt to unify the country.
  • 1849!->1854: The Central Argean War occurs, in which Solaryia fails to retake New Edevar, despite a Costavozkan defeat.
  • 1887 -> 1889: The First Costavozkan Revolution occurs, and after which, the winner decided to hold a referendum over the issue of control of New Edevar. The referendum votes in favor of Costavozka holding the territory.
  • 1932 -> 1934: The Second Costavozkan Revolution occurs, leaving Costavozka weakened.
  • Early 1935: Concerned on the premise of a possible foreign attack on a weakened Costavozka, a border "wall" (Maginot Line-style) along the coast is authorized. Updates to existing coastal defenses are included in this plan.
  • Late 1935 -> Late 1940: Construction on the fortifications (named the Velderik Line) occur.
  • Early 1936 -> Early 1940: Costavozka attempts to remain neutral in the (yet to occur) conflict. A policy of Autarky is pursued, and most external trade is cut. This causes economic issues. Also during this time, Costavozka begins rearming and preparing for the next conflict.
  • Early 1940: The Velderik Line is completed, although it is understaffed, and will remain as such until the outbreak of war. Only major cities receive full staffing, with New Edevar being one of the most fortified and defended positions.
  • Mid? 1940: Solaryia launches attacks on Raedlon and on large portions of the Mesder, New Edevar is put under siege, taking Costavozka by surprise. Costavozka is able to break the siege using the defenses of the Velderik Line and submarines. The rest of the Costavozkan fleet attempts to remain away from the attacking forces. Following this, Costavozka declares war, requesting to form an international coalition against Solaryí and Neo-Imperialist forces.
  • Mid 1940: Solaryia seizes control of the Karnali, blockading most of Costavozka.
  • Mid 1941: Costavozka reaches full mobilization, leading regular submarine strikes against the Solaryí fleets, mining the shores, and preparing for a possible land war.
  • August 1941: Solaryí forces down two of Costavozka’s airships (1 recon/bomber, 1 carrier) and sink two cruisers as well as four destroyers during a major naval engagement. Costavozka begins moving toward a more submarine-based fleet after this battle. (Leaving Solaryí losses up to Solaryia).
  • Mid 1943: As it became clearer that Solaryí forces were stretched too thin, counterattack plans were drawn up. Submarine warfare increased in intensity around this time as well.
  • Mid 1944: Costavozka regains partial control of the Karnali.
  • Early October 1944: Costavozka launches a liberation campaign of Raedlon via a large naval/air invasion- starting in [INSERT RAEDLON NATION HERE]. This soon stalls out due to Solaryí resistance and the winter, with little more than a few cities and a major port being secured.
  • Spring 1945: With reinforcements and the end of winter, the liberation campaign continues, eventually merging up with other invasion forces from the Free Powers, and pushing Solaryia back.
  • Late 1946: The Imperial War ends. All soldiers fighting abroad return home by the end of 1947.

Will edit as needed, adding a timeline for the AM Imperial War concept eventually.
