Survive Sherechia: Earthquake in Sakhatkhorgo [IC/OPEN]

"Ah alright then. Oh you're from Paris? How is it like living there? Considering that city is very romanticized in the media."

"Yeah, though earthquakes like this aren't a matter of bad luck really. It's a regular occurrence. The Sherechians have lived like this for 7000 years. Traditional houses can survive the worst of what nature can throw at it. It's only when we modernized and started building brittle concrete blocks where things started to turn to shit."

Another person arrives in the campfire carrying 2 boxes. The first box is full of bottled water and the second one is full of... blowfish. It was at this moment Francine realized what kind of fish she has been eating all along. However, no one seems to have fallen ill so maybe it's safe? This guy than passes the water bottles to everyone including Francine.

One of the people then said "Alright guys I am going to sleep since its literally midnight." He lays down on the grass, using a towel as a pillow.

Francine woke up the next morning completely frozen. She had followed the example of the Sherechians and had fallen asleep in the open. The fire had lasted for a few hours before it went out. Luckily she had given her one of those sleeping bags for the campgrounds and thanks to it she didn't freeze to death.
How did those people endure all this as if nothing had happened?
Anyway, she had decided to return to the hotel where she was staying. The woman realized that she had left her documents in her room. She just had to hope the hotel hadn't collapsed too. This would have been a huge problem. As far as she knew, the European Federation had no embassies in Sherechia. With all the money she spent on taxes! The federal government might as well open an embassy in a country that doesn't export oil, damn it!
Francine could only hope that the Emergency Unit had taken action to search for European citizens during the Sakhatkhorgo earthquake. And if she wanted to get out of this country as quickly as possible, she would have to retrieve her papers, otherwise she would have to deal with tedious federal bureaucracy.
With the sunlight starting to illuminate the city, Francine, after greeting the group of Sherechians, walked down the ruined streets of Sakhatkhorgo.

Babaev having put francine in good hands, departs back for the airport to see if he could head to the national capital of Sherechia

Babaev and his driver arrive at Sakhatkhorgo international airport. While the terminal building is mostly intact though the glass facade has been shattered, there are cracks all over the roads, taxiways and runways and part of the ceiling has collapsed. All flights have been canceled. The reason is clear when Babaev saw a pile of broken-up concrete, shattered glass and twisted metal. The control tower has collapsed.

The driver then offers driving Babaev to Aruday.
"I can do it, it's about a 500 km drive. We will probably need to find a hotel to stay in for the night because I don't think you will enjoy the adrenalin experience of driving in Sherechia at night."

Babaev would ask the driver to first look around for any pilots and intact aircraft to see if he could make a flight out, but would accept the drive as a last resort.

Orion arrive on a hill overlooking Sakhatkhorgo to the sight of devastation and can see that hundreds of buildings have collapsed.

William walks towards the receptionist,taking his room key,he would go on the elevator with a few people,,he would walk through the neatly lit hallway,with a huge floor to ceiling window covering the wall on the right of him,granting a panoramic view of the city,he would finally arrive at his room,he unlocked the door, and headed in,he lays down his bags,he looked around and sighed there was a smart tv and a small couch and beanbag beside the bed,he went to the balcony,seems he discovered the ''rich'' part of of sakhatkhorgo,infront of him,in the balcony view,there were prestigious colleges where students from sherechia from rich families and foreign students went,he also saw several gardens ,and wide paths and luxurious apartments. (OOC: sorry sher. forgot to read your message,consider this hotel a different one near the previous one)

Unfortunately, the "rich" part of Sakhatkhorgo was not spared from the earthquake. The Sherechian Institute of Technology faculty of the engineering building, a blue-colored 7-floor concrete block has completely collapsed into a pile of rubble. The "luxurious" apartments nearby also suffered damage in the form of broken windows and cracks on walls and pillars. These apartments are empty as no one dares to live there until the building inspectors prove that the building is safe. Though Sherecha is a socialist country the "rich" district isn't all that glamorous, it's just clean and has good access to public transport as seen by the subway stop next to the pile of rubble that is the former faculty of engineering building

The Sherechians wave to her as they part ways. Francine continues walking on the street. Occasionally she would see dead bodies piled on the side and the curious choice of the earthquake to bring down some buildings but not others. The sinful casino somehow survived while the supposedly more noble high school did not.

Francine arrives in her hotel which has collapsed in a very convenient way. The first floor has collapsed but since Francine's room is in the second floor. Technically it is possible to climb up the rubble, enter through the window and grab her papers. There is just the minor risk of the rest of the building collapsing, or breaking her nose a second time from falling. The building leaning 10 degrees into the street also does not give a reassuring feeling.

It's 9 AM in the morning, the sun has risen though is still low in the ground, the air is still rather cold as the two travel the highways of Sherechia. A 4 lane road, divided by a concrete barrier in the middle, flanked on both sides by mountains and trees. Babaev notices that the driver is driving at over 150 km/h, overtaking trucks from their blindspots, not using indicators, and frequently using the horn. Still, could be worse.

The woman cursed heavily. To get to her room, she would have to climb the rubble on the first floor. Not very difficult even for a person who she had never done mountaineering, but she was too afraid: both because she did not like heights and because the earth still sent small vibrations and she could have fallen, breaking not only her nose.
Francine looked around desperately for someone who could help her. But where are the law enforcement agencies of this damned country?

Francine sees a beaten-up Toyota pickup with a machine gun mounted on the back. 3 people are in that truck, 2 in the cab, one in the bed. The only thing giving out the fact that they are actually security guards and not terrorists are the name tags worn by all 3 members. The truck comes to an abrupt stop next to Francine.

"Hey you, how can we help you?"

After a short conversation, they agree to climb into the partially collapsed building to retrive all of Francine's bellongings.

"It's fine, this building might not collapse even more... probably, anyway here are your belongings."

The guy gives Francine her papers and the suitcase that she left behind.

Smith Mobius was reassigned to LIA-HUMINT-Serrecchia after screwing up LIA-OSINT-Syndic Australia (long story) to collect data about Sherechia's natural disaster response capabilities. A very unessential mission in Lamrac's eyes, but it is good busywork for the LIA agent who messed up our diplomatic relations program. He isn't even undercover. He takes the rail replacement bus from Aruday to Sakhatkhorgo

After 3.5 hrs of driving the two make it to the capital city of Aruday, the driver then heads for some government offices and is directed towards the parliament building. When the two get there, Babaev gives the driver some money to get himself some lunch while he goes in to find someone to coordinate a relief effort from his home country.

"Hey you, how can we help you?"

Francine thanks the military and, after they are gone, checks her bag. Everything seems fine, documents, money and clothing are all there. However, there does not seem to be her cell phone.
The woman then remembers taking it on yesterday's walk, before the earthquake hit the city. Maybe it should be in the jacket pocket.
Francine fingered the garment for pockets and was horrified to discover that both had zippers open and the cell phone was not there. Most likely she had lost it when she fell to the ground, even breaking her nose. Half blinded and scared to death, she couldn't notice the cell phone falling out of her pockets. At this point she hoped that it had been destroyed by the rubble or fallen into some chasm; she couldn't stand the idea of someone putting his hands on her private stuff.
Clutching the few things she was sure she still had, Francine thought about the next steps to take.

Meanwhile, in Paris, the Emergency Unit had registered the earthquake that struck the nation of Sherechia. Some of the workers were trying to get in touch with the Sherechian government to see if there were European citizens involved in the cataclysm.
Too bad the line seemed to be perpetually busy, making a strange chorus of sheep bleating sound like music on hold.

Babaev having the ability to speak French, was asked to talk with some Parisians about relief efforts and told them his story and got estimates as to what needed to be done and sent over a list of critical items such as blankets, gasoline, generators, and non perishable meals to give to the worse off, also medical teams would be needed to treat the injured along with mobile surgery centres set up. Babaev would have France coordinate with the rest of the EU while he relayed his own similar request to his home country of Lemlar who would fly in their own pallets of food along with construction experts to clear debris and to work with local engineers to create a better earthquake proof design for homes and other structures.

Upon establishing a link to the multiple govts to provide aid, Babaev headed for the international airport but not before giving the car he hired to the driver and asking the driver to keep it working if he ever came back to the country. Babaev would then fly back home and edit and publish the vlog he had made of the time in the country along with appearing on the local news as a survivor of the earthquake.

Yoya Banal sat in the back of a Hummer with her windows down, enjoying the cool air of the subtropics. her driver and bodyguard Bunti was speeding in to Sakhatkhorgo, but on this 4-lane highway with no speed limit, she did not mind. Her long, ass-length chocolate coloured hair was braided back in 2 plaits with red ribbons. Even though she was in the back of a car, she still wore a wide sunhat to protect her pale skin. She wore a loose yellow sundress and a summer robe to cover herself, because the air was temperate but reached a slight chill in the nighttime.

She had been waiting to go on this trip to Sherechia for months. She was so blissful she ignored the fact that there were no cars going in to the city. In fact there were barely any cars at all on the roads. She had not seen any airplanes-however possibly that is normal given this is a semi-remote city.

Driving from Aruday had been a little uneasy because of the mountainous terrain, and the backroads were not upkept well. She was oblivious to the smoke plumes rising from the city as they got closer. Bunti slowed down to a reasonable speed, and she snapped to attention.

"Il y a une probleme,""There is something wrong" in French said Bunti. "Look at this city. Look at the cracks in the roads. What is happening??"
He was oblivious to the fact that yesterday there was a massive earthquake and devastation, so bad that support is coming all the way from Paris, France.

Yoya knew that whatever they were heading in to was going to be bad.
