NSSCRA 12 Signups (CLOSED)

NSSCRA 12- SIGNUPS

This is the signup thread for NSSCRA’s 12th season. Please be sure to read the information in this post, because signing up for NSSCRA is not as simple as signing up for many other competitions on the forum.

For information on how NSSCRA is scorinated, click here.

I) BASIC SIGNUP RULES

- If you remember the NSSCRA 11 signup process, nothing is changing. Go ahead and do as you did before, or go over the rules again to refresh your memory.

– Everyone is welcome to signup. If so, you will signup THREE drivers (If you wish to have only one or two, that is fine), in order of your preference (aka put your favorite or preferred driver on top). Include your preferred car number for them. (00-99 is acceptable). However, please be advised that car numbers ARE NOT “first come, first serve”. Returning nations will have rights to the car numbers that they used previously. If any car number is a repeat, I will determine its priority and request the user change the number on their own or have me assign one. Now, for the returning users, I humbly request for you to not jump on a first time nation if they request a number you have rights too. I know you have rights to them, and we can address any duplicate car numbers in due time.

Additionally, all MASTER nations will have at least one, and possibly two, races in their country. This race may be in EITHER the main series OR the second tier series. All PUPPET nations MAY have one, and potentially two races, depending on the number signups. Master nations who signed up a puppet last season and did not RP, or minimally RP'd may not see their puppet with a race. But we'll see depending on the number of signups. Race schedule will be between 24 and 26 races.

If you are returning user from NSSCRA 11, you may present up to two tracks for NSSCRA to have a race on.

If you are a first time user, you may present one track for NSSCRA to have a race on. More information will be provided about what to include later in this post.

II) Charter Usage (relates to guaranteed entries into a race and those subject to qualifying in)
Any race team that finished in the top 20 of either owner points or driver points will receive a guaranteed charter. This number may be expanded to 25 or 30 but right now I simply want to play it safe, and say top 20. All MASTER nations that signup will have at least one guaranteed charter for the race. Any PUPPET nation will get a guaranteed charter based on how that puppet was roleplayed in prior editions of NSSCRA, or if a first time puppet, how the master nation historically roleplays their puppets in other competitions. Therefore, if a master nation did not RP their puppet last season, or only very minimally RP'd their puppet last season, they may not necessarily get a guaranteed charter for their puppet this time. Like before, this will depend on the number of signups.

All signed up drivers that the nation has chosen to compete in the main series, that do have not a charter, will need to qualify in. The number of spots available to qualify into depend on the number of the signups and guaranteed charters assigned.

III) Puppet Policy
Puppets are allowed, but in order for it to be considered, having participated and actively roleplayed in a prior season of NSSCRA from NSSCRA 6 and forward is required. Puppets that have not been roleplayed by race eight will lose all guaranteed charters. Other checkpoints will be announced during the season. Only sign up a puppet if you are intending on using it. Do not just enter a puppet because you can.

IV) The “open” charter
The “open charter” will return. This will be for a nation to potentially enter a fourth driver, or an additional driver. Interest in the open charter for an upcoming race should be provided in the RP immediately preceding the race desired, or by privately telegramming me. In the event I need to choose, first preference is to allow the open charter to a driver racing at their home track. After that, it comes down to number of times the nation has used the open charter, and the amount of RP they have provided.
– If you are going to declare this in a RP, please bold it in your RP, so it is understood that your intention is clear.
– Nations who signup and who can see themselves as likely to use the open charter (and know who that driver will be) should list their open charter driver in their signup as well. If the fourth driver will be TBD, that is fine, it can be figured out during the year.
-- Whether or not we have two open charters is TBD and will depend on the number of signups.

Anyone can request the open charter. ANYONE! I want to re-emphasize that requests for the open charter should only be done in the RP of the race that immediately precedes it. Please do not request it 2-3 races in advance. You can hint at it and let me know the intention of the request then, but still it is not considered an official request until the RP of the race prior! Please remember this!

V) Important Disclaimer
All guaranteed charter information is subject to change in the event of a higher then anticipated number of signups occurs that would result in an unrealistic field size. We went with 46 last year and that was fine.

VI) Schedule
More often then not, there will be two races per week, and they will PROBABLY be on Wednesday and Sunday. With the inclusion of the second tier series, that will be scorinated in the day prior to the main race, so likely on Tuesday and Saturday. Qualifying for the main series will be posted with the second tier results. There will not be a separate day set aside for qualifying for the second tier series. That will be posted on the same day as the second tier results.

The schedule is adjustable throughout the year, but I will announce any deviations from the initial schedule posting well in advance. When the World Cup and the World Baseball Classic are in session, I will give more off day periods in NSSCRA. Those seem to be the two most commonly RPed sports of those who are most active in NSSCRA.

VII) Structure
NSSCRA uses the chase and elimination round system that NASCAR does. We, however, do not implement stage racing and stage points.

VIII) Second Tier Series (EverLong Series)
The EverLong Series is like the Xfinity series in NASCAR, or WGP2 here. However, full time drivers in the main series may not race in the EverLong Series. Nations that do not get guaranteed charters in the main series can "drop" those drivers into the second tier series. Or, a nation can declare, at signup, that a driver will be assigned to the second tier series. In the EverLong Series, all drivers start at zero in terms of rating, so everyone is on even footing in this series, to begin with.

The second tier series will eventually fill up to 44 cars that race.

Are you still with me? I hope so!
That was a long preface. This is what an example signup should look like:

#24- Gordon Jefferson
#48- Jimmie Legend
#88- Dale Bowman, Jr.

(You can feel free to add biographical or sponsor information to the drivers, but that is not a requirement for the signup).

Track: My National Speedway
City: Somewhere, My Nation
Length: 1.5 miles
Record: 32.011 seconds (lap record, very important information).
Number of Laps:
Layout: Standard cookie cutter oval.
DNF Tendency* (1 to 10):
*- Essentially, does this track have a lot of wrecks? 10 would be an extreme amount of carnage, 1 would be virtually none. 5 is average. Based on this number, the DNF cutoff will be set. New nations may only use a max modifier of 7 in their signup.

Not sure of a realistic lap record time? use this tool

Right on!

GOOD TEAM BLUE:
#73 - Taylor Henderson
#81 - Drake Stevenson
#8 - Chris Holmes

Open Charter Hold:
Preston Autos Grand Prix Racing:
#50 - Rudy Edwards

EVERLONG Entries:
#47 - Edmund Flanders

Track: Hapilopper City Raceway
City: Hapilopper City
Length: 1.0 miles
Record: 23.783 seconds
Laps: 500
Layout: Medium-banked mile oval with a concrete surface. HC Raceway, as it is commonly known, was recently repaved a couple years ago, bringing speeds up and possibly changing the character of the circuit from a multi-groove track to a bottom-groove conveyor belt. Expect carnage on the mile for Super Skychief 500 Weekend, as part of the Hapilopper National Exhibition. Track officials have recently applied a material to the track surface that some HASCAR drivers have derisively called "Bear Grease" and some wonder if it'll make the track as slick as you know what.

DNF Tendency: 10. The track is still one groove and that "Bear Grease" has made the track really slick. The track has less grip compared to last season due to wear on the pavement, and you know by now that Hapiloppians love their crashes.
Image

Track: The HNE Half-Mile
City: Hapilopper City
Length: 0.5 miles
Record: 19.315 seconds
Number of Laps: 250
Layout: The half-mile dirt oval on the grounds of the Hapilopper National Exhibition, the HNE Half-Mile is a medium-banked dirt oval where drivers can take advantage of all kinds of lanes across the track. Up high near the wall, riding the cushion? Sure! Down low against the inside wall? Go for it! Right in the middle? Do it! If accepted, the HNE Half-Mile should produce a very exciting race as 46 of the best stock car drivers in the multiverse do battle on the dirt.
DNF Tendency* (1 to 10): 9. This is a dirt track.

Drivers:

#44 Kai Qiang
#43 Tsering Chu
#06 Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal

Tracks:

Guangxi Telecom 400
Track: Li River Speedway
Location: Guilin, Guangxi Territory
Length: 2.0 mi (this used to be 2.1, but the layout was altered slightly due to a landslide that destroyed part of the track.)
Lap Record: 00:46:29
Laps: 200
DNF tendency: 8
Layout: A crooked mess built over old farm paths. The track is on relatively flat terrain, but there is one stretch at the foot of a sheer cliff.

TMW 500
(If there isn't room in the schedule for this one, just cut it. I don't want it used for a 2nd tier race.)
Track name: Ramba Test Track
Location: Ramba, Rinbung County, Tibet Province
Length: 0.7 mi
Lap Record: 22.453
Number of laps: 500
DNF tendency: 7
Layout: Oval, but one end goes up the side of a nearby mountain. The part on the mountainside is steep enough to crash things down if you are Hapiloppian.

One of the reasons for the high rate of DNFs is the high altitude, which makes long races here a real test of drivers' physical stamina. The track can be used two different ways: .4 mi layout that is basically flat, or .7 mi layout with the upper end going up the slope. NSSCRA uses the .7 mi layout with the upper loop, but there may be some undercard events using the shorter layout.

I would like to choose open charter driver(s) the same way I have done in past seasons, by scorinating IRACT races where the winner gets an NSSCRA charter. I will try to be more organized about it than I was last season.

If you had one of my drivers on your team in the past, you may continue to use them. TJUN-ia has permission to use Gao if he wants to continue the storyline about Gao and Alice.

I am going to sign up a puppet called the French Army, but you can cut the French drivers if the field gets too crowded. I have some ideas for them, but I am not sure how consistently I will be able to RP them.

Brisbane International Raceway is the one of the highest speed road circuits in Sword Island, owning to its long straightaways and fast chicanes throughout the 1.6 mile facility. However, the highlightof the course and quite possibly the most famous turn in Sword is the second gear hairpin that is followed immediately followed by a left hand turn with a -18 degree incline. This turn has claimed many- including Sage Caldwell in an infamous incident with Taylor Henderson. What will happen the next time NSSCRA visits The Fastest Road Course in the Land?

Track Information
Track Lenght: 1.6 miles
Layout: Road Course
Seating: 85,000 including camping areas along the track and in the infield
Pit Lane Speed: 55 miles per hour
Pace Speed: 50 miles hour
Record Lap: 47.889(Daniel Worthington, 2012 SICO 400 at Brisbane)
Horsepower Package: 650 horsepower, high downforce
DNF Tendacy: 6

Fredericksburg Fairgrounds Speedway- one of Sword Island's oldest and most iconic venues, the Madhouse is an odd track due both to the racing surface and geometry of the track. The racing surface, with the exception of the top lane, is made up of concrete and races similarly in most weather conditions. The top lane however is made up of ground-up asphalt to create a 'grip strip' and encourages multi-groove racing early on in a tire run. However, stay up top too long and you'll wear your tires far faster than if you run on the concrete. There is debate as to use a gripping agent to rubber in the top concrete lane. The layout of the track is also a huge draw to fans, as the unique sets of corners pose two entirely different challenges. The first set of corners are narrow and highly banked, creating opportunities for the classic short track bump and run on the bottom line. Turns 3 and 4 however are wide and have very little banking, leading to several lines developing as riding the asphalt cushion or sliding up the track are both fast ways to get around. All in all, Fredericksburg is a track that can satisfy the needs of any race fan

Track Information
Track Lenght: 0.9 miles
Layout: Paperclip
Banking: 0 degrees on frontstretch and backstretch; 10-25 degree banking
Seating: 78,000
Track Surface: Concrete bottom lanes; Asphalt top lane
Pit Lane Speed: 50 miles per hour
Pace Speed: 65 miles per hour
Racing Line: Top lane for the start of the run, then the line slowly moves down as tire wear becomes a factor
Record Lap: 24.89(Richard Irwin, 2008 CarTraders 500)
Horsepower Package: 900 horsepower restrictor plate
DNF Tendacy: 9, not as destructive as Hapilopper City but close

Races

PTCCU Auto Loans 300
Track: Oxyrhynchus-Ring
City: Oxyrhynchus, Fhulghamous Peninsula Colony, Abanhfleft
Length: 0.699 mile
Record: 20.16 seconds
Laps: 300
Layout: Short tri-oval track. Imagine Kansas Speedway but shrunk down to the size of Richmond Speedway.
DNF Tendency: 9.5

Image

The Oxyrhynchus-Ring has developed a reputation in the Abanhfleft Racing Truck Series (ARTS) as being a place where tire management is king because of the unique nature of the track's surface. The place in which the Ring was built is known for having an extremely abrasive type of sand that quickly erodes and wears down the asphalt, and despite efforts by the track owners to sweep the surface clear before every race, this very abrasive sand still shows up on the track on race day and plays a massive factor in chewing up tires. Even the hardest compound of tires available would be hard-pressed to survive at least 100 laps at the Oxyrhynchus-Ring, and any tire failures will be compounded by the walls surrounding the track itself.

(I'll hold off on submitting a second track until my question in the discussion thread is answered.)

THE "TEAM"

Team ZR

-#0 - Ezekiel Rodger (19M) - Multiversal Cup
(Second choice number is #00, then #56, then #82. If all are taken, assign any unclaimed number.)

A hotshot out of an auto shop in Rockford, Esmerel, Ezekiel Rodger has always loved cars. Having the technical know-how to disassemble and reassemble almost any motor, fine tune any equipment, and road test for results, has meant that while Zeke hasn’t had much experience driving fast, he knows every in and out of driving without binning it, and has gotten his share of respect out of the weekly racing scene in Esmerel. What cars he’s driven have come back clean, and what cars he’s tuned and/or sponsored have often found themselves in victory lane more often than the competition.

Still, beyond this point Zeke lives up to his name: a quiet zero in the sea of people that live in the Verse. At least, until this point, comparably. With the unceremonious and hardly even announced retirement of Jean Mercer-Daly from the WGPC, the collapse of every competition team sent from the nation, and the havoc-wreaking pandemic we all know of, Esmerel has returned somewhat to the enigmatic recluse it was before the Exposure Laws. Thus, Zeke has made his decision to enter into the NSSCRA’s Multiversal Cup now rather than later, in an attempt to bring back the spark of hope and fun that Esmerel opened itself up to in the first place.

While Zeke anticipates being able to run the season as an owner-driver with only a small crew, he has been looking into finding a partner team to source parts from and effectively serve as an extra car for.

"They condemn that which they do not understand."
-The national motto of Esmerel, translated
A near-future tech nation ruled by science and reason. Offers great civil liberty but minimal political or economic liberty, leaning authleft. Population of roughly 90 million on an island about the size of Latvia or West Virginia, 800km east of Maryland, US and 500km south of Nova Scotia. Visit today.

Located in Angelou, Rangiora, the current record lap time is 1:04.018, or 64.018 seconds. The event being proposed to the NSSCRA is the Kharao 900 (900 kilometers, about 580 miles), a 150-lap race. Team: Clengin Motorsports
Team Owner: Cindy Clengin

#12 - Daniel Wynfor (Sponsor: Clengin Family Restaurants)
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Brief Bio: Daniel Wynfor started racing from a young age: at four years old, he started racing go-karts and ended up being very good at it. In his first year, he won just three races; but went on to win 31 races in his second year. At the age of six, he started racing quarter midgets and that year he won 17 races and set three track records. He continued racing quarter midgets and go-karts until he was 15, winning a total of 355 races in that time. At 15, he started racing sprint cars, winning six races that year. The next year, he won 15 races. At 17, in 2014, he entered SCARAK's lower tier stock car racing series full time with Noah Fiore Racing. In his first year, he won 4 races. In the 2015 season, he won more races and improved immensely in the series. Midway through the 2016 season, he was picked up for the upper tier stock car racing series, continuing to race for Noah Fiore Racing. In 2017, he won his first SCARAK championship. He looked as if he was cruising towards another championship the following year, but an injury mid-season took him out of his car for the remainder of the year. He was back behind the wheel in 2019 and went on to win SCARAK championships in 2019, 2020, and 2021. Now he's being sent to compete on the international level after being picked up by Clengin Motorsports.

#33 - Joshua Pelayo (Sponsor: Dynamite Coffee Company)
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Brief Bio: Joshua didn't get into racing as early as his teammate, but started go-kart racing at the age of 10. Between the ages of 10 and 15, he'd win just 16 races, but would go on to race sprint cars at the age of 15. He raced sprint cars for three years, winning 21 races during that time. In April 2013, he was picked up two months after the start of the lower tier stock car series to fill in for a racer that had gotten injured while off the track. That year, he'd win one race. In 2014, he was picked up full time by Barrie Wilkes Racing, doing better that year. In 2017, he'd move up to the upper tier stock car series. The following year, in 2018, he was second in the series to Daniel Wynfor until Daniel got injured in a crash and had to sit out of the rest of the year. Joshua would go on to win his first and only SCARAK championship that year. He's been racing since, finishing 2nd in the series in 2019; 4th in 2020; and 3rd in 2021. One of Kannap's best drivers, Clengin Motorsports picked him up for the international scene.

#91 - Aiden Rowan (Sponsor: Kannapian Entertainment Network)
Age: 19
Gender: Non-binary
Brief Bio: Aiden is very new to stock car racing, having only raced one season in the lower tier stock car series in Kannap. Aiden won one race last year, but Clengin Motorsports believes in this rookie athlete's future.

NOTES:
– Abanhfleft gets two charters, as they had two drivers inside the top 20 of owner points. The #98 was not one of them, but was listed first on the sign up, therefore I interpreted that as the nation wishing the #98 and the #58 to have the charters. (#98 was 22nd in owner points). This can be changed if the nation wishes to change it.

– TJUN-ia only gets one charter, and it is given to #07. However, #64 was 21st and #03 was 25th, so it is likely that these cars will be given the guaranteed charter before the season starts, as well.

– Tropicorp only had one driver in the Top 20, so the charters were allotted as noted in the signup. The next closest was 23rd (and also 24th).

For all three of you, I would advise just doing nothing, as it seems like I will expand to the top 25 from last year as opposed to top 20, in which case, you own these five expanded spots!
