"Can you believe we get to watch international kleptochase again?!"

"Wait, again?"

"Yes again"

"Were we alive the last time kleptochase was a thing"

"Unclear"

"Why is it unclear?"

"Well time is unclear in Milchama and also it's unclear whether it's been the same two people talking or if it's somebody else"

"What do you mean?"

"Well we're supposed to compete"

"We are?!"

"Yeah in the Fire Dance"

"There's a fire dance?! I thought it was war games"

"Well technically mountain games"

"Why couldn't we be in the cheese rolling competition?"

"Because they put us somewhere else"

"Are we in Vilita right now?"

"I assume so"

"Can we still watch the kleptochase?"

"Well I got us some tickets. Turns out being athletes makes it much easier to get in to other events"

"Did you pay?"

"No athletes get in free"

"Sweet!"

"So this worked out?"

"I still don't know how I got magically transported to Vilita"

"Blame Quebec magic portal thingy"

"Ok then"

"So we're going to get watch live international kleptochase"

"Yep"

"And we'll miss the legendary call of legendary Milchamian announcer Vn-Sklly"

"Well he's mostly Az-czian"

"True but still missing him will be a shame. I know he'd love to call that game"

"Well he'll still be calling it. You can watch it on TV afterwards"

"Oh true"

"Does he have the international call?"

"No idea, do you think I'd bother to look up those details"

"What is fire dancing by the way?"

"No idea"

"Cool"

"Are we both competing?"

"Also no idea"

"Why not?"

"Read the newspaper from this morning"

"Which one?"

"The Courier"

"Why would I read a cityless paper?"

"Because it's the only one that covered this story"

"Ok then"

*Reads paper*

"Oh ok then, I see"

"So it's going to turn out ok"

"Basically"

"Should we be worried that we're RPing more for the Vilitan Mountain Games then for the World Cup?"

"Eh we're only the defending champions in one event and it's not soccer"

"Oh true"

"So like don't worry about it"

"Ok fair"

"But what are our odds in kleptochase?"

"Well we get an extra competitor because we're defending world champs which is good. Bst-Thf is really good at Technique and Maze course but can struggle in the more physical courses. However, he did overcome that to win the Milchamian championship last year. Also, Martin Schreider has incredible strength and great technique but isn't always the fastest. Mackles, being a former center fielder, is very fast but sometimes lacks technique"

"It sounds like we got 3 flawed chasers"

"In the sense that nobody is perfect but Schreider still has a winning record in his career on Speed courses. Mackles is great at maze courses and is a very good Law in Technique courses leading to a bunch of draws. I mean these are the best chasers in Milchama, they're all really good and they're against more inexperienced chasers who don't have a well developed domestic league"

"I guess that's true"

"Yeah if there is one event I would expect Milchama to do very well at it is Kleptochase. Everything else is kind of a side show though I am excited for jousting"

"Cool!"

"Yeah"

"Also, be happy for the most in depth kleptochase analysis on this server in like 10 years"

"Also very true!"

"Come on You Warriors!"

"Let's Go Milchama!"
Milchama Sports achievements:

from the Winter City News

You may have heard of the Hochlandspiele in Northern Kriegiersien and the Vilitan Mountain Games are pretty much like that. Sadly, all the people in the Traditional Union of the "Leute wo machen Hochlandspiele" scoffed at the Mountain Games and didn't want to send anyone to the competition. Still there seemed to be a good amount of Top athletes from all over Kriegiersien going to these contests in Vilitan.

But the first day saw some shocks.
Hafþór Bellybutton, a giant Ogre, failed in his speciality, Stone Put, with only measly 40.36.
Angry he smashed one of his stones after the first throw, so that his third attempt was disqualified and after that he was seen sobbingly eating a dozen fried boars.

It was worse for Kis Terratus. The Olympic Spear thrower made all her measly throws invalid, ending without a result. Vanishing angrily after that, holding anyone who wanted to talk to her on distance with her spear.
In difference to the winner of the competition from Milchama.
Even though this nation is so proud about the number three, after a perfect winning try one with gigantic 196.04, their athlete refrained from making three good results. Or even two. One was enough. To become number one. They seemingly finally have understood the number they fought so hard with in the registration process.

Our hopes are still on our local hero, Sheera Unglaublich, who was born in a small village near Winter City, as a child of travelling people, becoming a midwife, before learning that she not only could bring life to the world, but also fire.
An important feat to warm peoples meals, hearts and burn enemies to death in the cold, unforgiving north.

As a well known fire artist, her fire shows have enchanted people all over Kriegiersien. Except people with Pyrophobia. We hope she can enrapture the people in Vilitan as well.

From beneath the shattered judging table, a voice squeaks: “And now the third attempt from Korri Kjartansson…”

Meanwhile, Korri’s assistant is whispering in his ear. The big man’s eyes widen.

“Oh, throw it forwards…?”

The Morovian Sports Broadcast (MSB) has been abuzz with talk about the livestreams of the recent events in the Vilitan Mountain Games. While certainly not the first sporting events ever, it is the first international competition Morover has participated in for several decades at least, and with the pushes that the new political administration is making for good publicity, it is even more prominent. While the results were certainly not the best, Morover as a nation is pleasantly surprised at the outcome; certainly, some were expecting last place in the first two events, and an early withdrawal from the Games as a whole.

While heartwarming clips have been posted from the games, including a warm embrace between the Coulo twins as all the support begins to go behind Kristen, in her first competition since she sustained her injury. Mazkenzie did remarkably well, and now all the marbles are in the hands of Kristen - and whether or not her injury will affect her play. Tears streaming down both of their faces, fellow Morovian competitor Sorop Able caught this moment on his phone, as it reminded him of his own kids. It's been an emotional night in Morover, and now an exclusive interview with MSB has been released, where Kristen talks about her experience competing.

Danny Ritting, Interviewer: "I have to say that I, for one, am mightily impressed. You may not have made the podium, but you certainly put Morover on the map. What, exactly, was going through your mind as you were up, with hundreds of thousands of people watching?"

Mackenzie Coulo (Spear Throwing, Distance): "I have to say, Danny, I was intimidated. I am an entertainer, at heart, so I'm used to being watched, but I was suddenly acutely aware of my surroundings - that's something that doesn't happen when you're doing it for fun. My sister -- well, she's the more competitive one, at heart. I'm just glad she can be here."

Ritting: "Truly one of the stories of the generation. Local performers turned international competitors. You both are incredibly inspiring."

Coulo: "Thank you, Danny."

Ritting: "Now, your second throw was not counted. Can you tell us what exactly went on there?"

Coulo: "I got excited. While my first throw wasn't my best, by any means, it was good enough that I realized I had a shot. The 157 was good, but it wouldn't be enough to get me to the top three - I knew this. What it did tell me, though, is that I just needed to improve on my next shots, and I might be able to make it. Bear in mind, I hadn't seen these people reaching the 180s and 190s go yet, but I thought I might have a chance. So, I realized I needed improvement- goddamn, I sound like a broken record."

Ritting: "But how did that lead to your score being discarded?"

Coulo: "I'm getting to that, truly. I realized I needed improvement, and I thought for a second to the competitor before me. I forget which nation they represented. All I remember is they got a higher score than I did, and they used a technique I hadn't seen before. In preparation, I went to the top coaches in Morover to hammer my competition anxiety out of me, but none of them had taught me to throw spears like my opponent did. I decided I'd try and throw the spear in a modified way, and I just fumbled it. I still don't even know what happened. Watching the video of it on repeat, it seems like it just slipped out of my hands. I can't explain it."

Ritting: "So you changed how you throw spears in between your first and second throws?"

Coulo: "Exactly. I don't know why I did it, it's obviously a bad idea. You have to understand, though. I was sweaty, I was stressed. I wanted to make my country proud. I just made a mistake."

Ritting: "But you fixed it on your third throw?"

Coulo: "I played it safe. I didn't want to mess up in the same way, so I just had to give a solid throw. It didn't go nearly as far, but that's okay. It's over now, and I'm happy with eighth. Maybe next year I'll get on the podium."

Ritting: "Well, I know you must be very busy, so let me ask you one last question: What do you plan to do with the rest of your time in Vilita?"

Coulo: "It's hard to say. Tonight, the Morovian athletes are eating out, with the exception of the competitors tonight, and we'll watch the events in a local bar - I don't really know where we're going, I'm trusting Shain to find us a good restaurant. And then in a few days, my sister competes, so she'll be practicing and I'll support her as far as I can throw her -- haha, pun intended. Yes, I know I used that phrase incorrectly, it was a joke. After that, I will probably just relax in the Morovian housing. I'm ready to spend some quality time to self-care, and to spend with the fellow athletes. Morover is nice, but it's just different from this. I think I might visit again, sometime, even if the government doesn't choose me to participate in future games."

Ritting: "Well, it sounds like you've got a nice couple of weeks ahead of you. Thank you for taking the time to talk to us, and I wish you the best going forward. Give your sister a hearty 'good luck!' from me and the rest of the Sports Broadcast team."

Curiously, the other competitor from last night has been far more silent about the events that transpired during the event. Jack Porle, former Head of the Morovian Navy, was seen visibly upset following his performance in the Stone Put. Fluking his first shot, a vulgarity could be seen uttered from his mouth - although the microphones that MSB had on the ground was not close enough to hear exactly what was said, a bright red face and sharp gesticulations indicated obvious discomfort at the position he was then in. For the second attempt, he managed to let it go, but was dissatisfied with the distance.

Although it was unclear exactly what he was so worked up about, this led him to letting go of the third attempt too early, once again leading to it not being counted. The large man slumped down onto the arena, and just started crying. MSB livestreams of the event cut, but rumor has it that after being ushered off the field, he was grabbed firmly by a handler sent by the New Regime, a man even larger than Porle himself (quite a rare sight, that), and that Porle has not been seen since. The New Regime has comfirmed that he will be participating in the next Heavy Athletics events, though Porle has not been available for an interview.

THE BILLBOARD GAZETTE

SETTING FIRE TO... NOTHING

Anne Delphine finishes 3rd last in Spears for Distance, Chartistan on the wrong foot early

It was perhaps the start of utter domination for the Milchama delegation to kick off the Vilitan Mountain Games, as Chartistani national team captain Anne Delphine finished 3rd from last in the Spears for Distance event, the first open event of the Games, ahead of earth pony Bobby Stevens and an abysmal all-invalid performance from Kriegiersien's Kis Terratus. Delphine's three throws were all valid, a feat shared with 5 other competitors in the 21 athlete field.

Anne's first heave of a Vilitan spear in the Mountain Games was a 115.10, the Official City athlete not used to the craft and aerodynamics of a Vilitan spear, or really any big spear at all. The performance was 4th from last of all first throws, and that included Don Noladiti's unbelievable 196.04. The second closest from the first throws, Morover's Mackenzie Coulo with her 157.02, was 39.02 meters off. It would take a lot to force Noladiti to do a second throw.

Delphine's first throw helped her in her second throw of the spear, as it traveled to a 120.44 score, an improvement of more than 5 over her first throw. This throw, however, was 3rd from last from all of the successful 7 throws, and half a meter worse than Jan Stroika of Qasden. Gyatso-kai's Inoue Ujuarak had the farthest second throw at a 182.56, at that point the silver medalist and still a far ways away from Noladiti's eye watering mark. With him still on the sidelines, it would take a lot of effort to beat him, never mind come close.

Anne Delphine's energy had seemed to fall off for her third and final throw, as she mustered a 100.71, a 2nd worst not only in third throws, but in successful throws period, only behind a 97.38 from Stroika. For the other athletes, it was all about beating Don Noladiti's score and walking away with the first gold of the Mountain Games. In the end, nobody came close; Thaddeus Nyong'o's 182.20 meter heave wasn't even enough to get the Banijan silver, as he had to settle for bronze. Don Noladiti of Milchama had won the first gold medal of the Vilitan Mountain Games.

Speaking to the Billboard Gazette after her final throw, Delphine was seemingly humbled by the spears. "I've never even threw these things in real life before, never mind hold them. You have a look at them and you're like - Woah. This is nothing like the spears I've seen! And I'm sure that humbled a bunch of competitors in this field too, as the top 5 all came from AO. It was their event, and that showed today. Surely this would be good practice for the Accuracy event for the few people like me who are doing both spear events."

In the first event of the Heavy Athletics competition, the Stone Put, Græntfjaller Korri Kjartansson's first 2 attempts failed to register, but his third and final throw impressed enough to earn the maximum 20 points, as his throw of the stone was one of only 4 50 meters of the event. Kaiah Sunray, the fifth place athlete, was almost 7 meters behind host nation athlete and Olympic gold medalist Liita Jens. But there is still a maximum of 80 points left to grab in Heavy Athletics, so even for Judas Vipond of Darmen and Unibot's representative, there's still a lot of ground to make up.

Air Latte is next up for Chartistan, as she will participate in the Bake Off.

"VICTORY!"

"GO Don Noladiti!!!!!!!!!!"

"I can't believe that's his name"

"Why not?"

"It's just such an easy pun"

"From what?"

"Kan Noladiti"

"Huh?"

"That song that finished 3rd in Eurovision 1991"

"What's Eurovision?"

"It's like Worldvision but only for one continent for some reason"

"I thought two continents were involved"

"AUSTRALIA SHOULD NOT BE INVITED!"

"I have no idea what you're talking about but ok I agree with you"

"Also, I thought the song was called Kan?"

"Whatever, I still can't believe that's his name"

"Well shouldn't we not make fun of his name and instead celebrate his achievement"

"Oh definitely! Also, did you see the one throw thing?"

"Huh"

"Oh that Noladiti only threw once and still got farther than anybody else!"

"Wow!"

"Yeah that was pretty awesome!"

"There was also something else I noticed"

"What?"

"There was a competitor representing HaAkademia Shel Krav"

"Wait a second!"

"Yeah really that sounds suspiciously like HaAdakemit HaKrav in Milchama"

"It almost sounds like somebody ripped off the name and confused the organizers"

"No way"

"Well what other explanation do you have?"

"I'm not sure"

"We have to look into this"

"Oh definitely"

"This could even be a RP storyline"

"Nuts! Since when do we actually do those"

"Basically never"

"So let's do one for once!"

"Ok let the mystery begin!"

"Come on You Warriors!"

"Let's Go Milchama!"

:: LUMBERJACK Competition ::

Tutin
Hails from Okha and is not the same person as the U-21 Muralosian goalkeeper; they share a name, and, according to Nivkh custom, neither of them have surnames. Tutin is a skilled woodworker, carpenter, and builder – he is deft with the ax and chainsaw, and he has a knack for adapting to the grain and consistency of any given tree trunk.

:: OPEN ::Bake Off ::

Sofia Yamashita
Sofia is a software engineer for Komcatt and an avid amateur baker. Their mother and father run De Matin, a highly successful bakery in Urbego that makes a variety of baked goods and delicacies: pastries, cakes, mochi, moon cakes for the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, and more. While the demands of De Matin are too high for Sofia's parents (or most other professional Muralosian bakers, really) to compete, it made sense for Sofia to represent Muralos in this baking contest.

:: OPEN ::Cheese Rolling ::

Adamo Zhong
The brother of Muralosian soccer player Georgo Zhong. He loves cheese and running down hills as fast as possible. Very few people are as passionate about these two things combined as Adamo Zhong. So, there you go.

:: OPEN ::Fire Dancing ::

Shuwei Liu
A top student in the ballet and choreography program of the Félicién de Ménil Dance Academy, which is just about Muralos's best college for dance. Liu is skilled in other dance forms as well, not only ballet... so it remains to be seen what exactly his fire dance performance will be like.

:: OPEN ::Kleptochase ::

Ludovico Lin
The brother of Valora Lin, striker for the Muralosian national soccer team. No, this isn't nepotism. Ludovico Lin is an excellent basketball player. His athleticism and drive will be extremely important for a sport as intense as kleptochase. He can juke opponents, he can run like the wind... he can play kleptochase.

"Wait!" Adamo Zhong grabbed his older brother by the shoulder. "Are you telling me the cheese rolling competition involves..... me rolling? Where does the cheese come in?"

Georgo Zhong snickered, then let out a pained sigh. "Dolĉa infano de somero... Yes, you roll down so that you can get cheese, which is also rolling to the bottom of the mountain."

Adamo could only muster a faint "oh." He, too, let out a sigh, and began to shake his head.

"I thought cheese rolling would be about the rolling of cheese, but it sounds like it's more about rolling for cheese," he muttered, seething. "No Muralosian English textbook ever prepared me for this. And I thought I would be frolicking along a Vilitan meadow, alongside a wheel of cheese that I would roll down the mountain myself! I am not ready for this, Georgo. I'm just not."

Georgo stood silent. Then, he placed his hands on Adamo's shoulders, looking him in the eye. Tears were streaming down Adamo's face.

"If you aren't ready, Adamo, then no one is," intoned Georgo. "Go get 'em. And by them, I mean cheese. Get the cheese."

Vilitan Mountain Games I :: Day 2

Postby Vilitan Mountain Games » Thu Jan 20, 2022 2:26 am

Image

A single athlete will compete across five traditional events for the Vilitan Highland Rose, awarded to the overall champion of the Heavy Athletics Discipline at the Vilitan Mountain Games. All athletes are considered equal regardless of gender, species or origin. There is no entry limit to this event. This event and its trophy remain purposely unsponsored so as not to over-commercialize the games.

Image
A long tapered wooden caber is balanced vertically on one end. The Athlete runs forward and attempts to toss the caber end over and land facing directly away. Event Officials will source local trees during the week prior to competition and construct five poles of similar length weight and diameter with one designated primary caber for competition. Each competitor will have three attempts with the best throw counting for final placement. In the event of a tie, the second best throw, then third best throw for each still-tied competitor will be used.

Image

The caber in a perfect toss will pass through the vertical position and land with the small end pointing directly at 12 o’clock in an imaginary straight line extending from the competitor through the initial landing point and in line with the direction of the run. A valid turn is when the small end of the caber passes through the vertical position and falls away from the competitor to land within the 180-degree radius, between 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock.

+ If the caber toss results in a full turn, the back judge scores the caber on the clock face.

If the competitor does not turn the caber, then it is the responsibility of the side judge to determine the angle at which the caber was tossed with respect to the 90 degree vertical. The side judge should be perpendicular to the competitors’ line of approach in order to make an accurate call.

+ If the caber toss results in a partial turn, the side judge scores the caber on degrees.

The night before the event each competitor was given a backpack and an unpriced shopping spree at CoCoMart - anything they could fit in the backpack they could take with them to their tent. They were not allowed to begin any preparations until sunup. Competitors had a total of 8 hours to prepare their baked goods before judging began. Initial inspection would downselect to the ten 'most visually complete' selections for final grading with each of the three judges selecting one of the ten competitors to the final. Local Chef Gourmand Doniita would then indulge in the three finalists concoctions and determine final overall placement.

Postby Kriegiersien » Thu Jan 20, 2022 7:21 am

The tents of the Kriegiersien athletes looked like an ancient army camp. Fire places warmed groups of people.

Sheera Unglaublich had just made a fire with her hands and started to take a bite from the content of her bowl she was holding, when an elderly man approached.

“I am Sir Dagobert, fair knight from Entenstein, may I sit down, milady?”

Sheera stopped the spoon on the way to her mouth and nodded.

“Sure”, she said, after taking a first bite.

“I see, you have also taken a bit from the food that the Orc Cook made for us”, he said, after sitting down, his young squire handing him a bowl.
“A shame that she was out of the baking competition so early.”

“I think her idea of putting things together was too modern for the jury. But her stew is really good”, said Sheera, chomping.

“I saw her in the CoCoMart, just throwing things in her backpack, looked very random“, said the squire, while the knight glanced at him.
„Stuffing a bird into a pineapple, maybe not the best idea. Fat and sugar and then frying it can’t save everything.“

“Did you watch other competitions, milady, or did you roam the landscape?”, asked the knight.

“I trained for my fire show. Hadn’t much time for much else”, Sheera said while examining her stew for moving parts, before finishing it.

“I watched the ogre throwing the tree trunk. Amazing how the creature was able to throw it in this sophisticated way, that took more than pure strength.”

“You don’t need to know clever words to do complicated tasks right. It is more about engaging in it”, Sheera said, taking out a cigar and igniting it with a snap of her fingers.

“I have slain beats like him in the older times, but now… so much has changed in our nation.”

“What exactly?”, asked Sheera, producing a smoke ring.

“People running around naked by government decree. Monster are not monsters, but citizens. The traditions of honour and behaviour like a gentleman are forgotten. Magic is suddenly hidden”, Dagobert shook his head.

“Yeah, I am always happy if I am out of Kriegiersien and able to wear clothes. You are not running around naked at home, because you are of a warrior caste or something, is my guess?”

“I am from a time before this new rules were made. We knights are not bound to them”, Sir Dagobert declared.
“Only my squire here is naked on our travels through Kriegiersien.”

The squire looked shy to Sheera who grinned back at him.

“Oh, look, Mysterious. Our mysterious combatant in the Mystery Event ”, Sheera whispered, when suddenly a person sneaked past.

“That was Alexa, she is the Kleptochase contestant”, said Sir Dagobert mildly.

“First, I think it really is a man. Who is also enigmatic. What a coincidence. Second, have you ever seen Mysterious and Alexa at the same time? They are obviously the same person. As if the fake glasses could fool anyone.”

“But they look different. And Mysterious has no glasses.”

“Exactly, but the eyes, they are the same.”

“I don’t…”, the knight cleared his throat, “but maybe Milady is right”. He smiled at her, like a teacher to a student who had asked an interesting question.

“Well, it was nice to meet you, but I will now got to bed”, said Sheera, standing up.

“Your tent is pretty small, If you would like, you could rest there”, Sir Dagobert said, smiling a smile, with the whitest white teeth possible, despite his age, pointing to his tent.

Sheera looked at it, it was the biggest, prettiest and cleanest of all the tents in the camp.

“And your squire built that all by himself?”, she said.

“Yes”, said the knight, looking proud.

“Look, the ogre is with his orc friend in a much smaller tent. Still seems to be happy. It is not always the size, but what you do with it and the craft. I thank you, but I prefer my own tent for now. Good night, Sir Knight”, Sheera said, bowing and winking to the squire.

She went to her tent, while Sir Dagobert sighed, throwing a piece of wood into the fire.

“Do you need something else for the night?”, his squire asked him.

Sir Dagobert thought about it.
“No, I think my back is good today, I don’t need another lotion. You can go to bed.”

“Thank you, I wish you a good night, Milord”, said the squire and followed the Firedancer to her tent.

Sir Dagobert starred after him, when suddenly a lot of wood was tossed near the fire place and Big Ed Sharp, Lumberjack extraordinaire, sat next to him, handing him a flask.

“Ready for a long fight in the dark, Sir Knight?”, he roared, while simultaneously throwing some logs into the fire and getting out some cards.

Sir Dagobert grunted, took a sip from the beverage, coughed and nodded.

“Let the games begin.”

Birgitta wafted the tempting aroma bubbling in her pan. Her stew smelled savory and delicious, and surely outstripped even the mouth-watering offerings being cooked up by Lamont MacClery and Isple Apollo. Yes, Birgitta was almost certain she was going to win. Almost – but not quite.

“You know what would really add a beautiful flourish to this impressive dish is some light spice,” she reflected. Græntfjallers, in general, are not big on spices, but Birgitta had sailed the seven-and-a-half seas and encountered many wonderful foreign cuisines, giving her a broader appreciation of the possibilities.

“Perhaps, some nutmeg. Or, some stem ginger. Mmm,” she stirred the pot thoughtfully. “Or maybe even… a cinnamon stick?”

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

SPLASH!

“I said a cinnamon stick, Kjarri!!”

Breaking news!

Jack Porle breaks his silence, in a stunning plot twist. While many politically-informed Morovians had assumed the worst, the vast majority of the country was trusting the New Regime and their tactics. Upon stepping out into the field in which the Caber Toss was being held, there was a reasonably mix of shock and excitement. The look on Porle's face was one of anguish. He was wearing the same outfit as he was for the stone put, which may ordinarily mean that his uniform had been washed in preparation for the upcoming event, if not for the grime covering it. The obvious despair that the Heavy Athletics competitor had gone through over the past day was felt by any who were paying attention, though no one outside of Porle himself, and perhaps a select few others, knew what actually happened behind closed doors.

Perhaps that makes the feat that Jack Porle pulled off even more impressive. Coming in second is no easy task, especially with the amount of pressure that has been placed on all the Morovian athletes - Porle more than any other. The Caber Toss is one that he had not practiced recently, but his father was known through Morover for a similar event, more based on pure force than precision, but similar nonetheless. All signs point towards this skill being genetic, because short of a miracle, there is little other justification for Porle to do as well as he did. A fluke? Maybe, but it's just the fluke needed.

While not willing to give an interview, still, Porle has been seen outside his quarters since the event occurred, and has released a brief statement regarding the event and his absence over the past several days:

"Good evening, my gorgeous Morover. How the sun shines so brightly, even as it sets. I don't think that made sense. I simply wanted to thank you all for the support I've been receiving, it has truly been the time of my life. I know that there was much concern about me disappearing over the past few days, but I want you all to know, I have merely been building my mental fortitude for this next game, and practicing. While there has been speculation about ill-treatment by our oh, so wonderful government, I will state for now, and forever, that there is no backing to these sentiments. I have been treated wonderfully, both by my fellow Morovian athletes, by the Morover officials who have come with us, and by the Vilitan hosts. There is nothing to worry about. I had a rocky first event, but this is the comeback we need. Morover will podium in heavy athletics, I will make sure of it."

In other news, Natalia Purrat gave an impressive performance in the Farmer's Walk. Traveling a distance of 192 feet, flat, she gave a noble speech to a nonexistent crowd, commenting on the importance of "never-enduring will" and "the creation of your own creation" - two nonsensical phrases that seemed to be repeated constantly The prevailing theory is that she slightly over-exerted herself, leading to slight delusions.

She is taking time to rest and prepare for her next event, the Keg Toss. There is little more to report, from the MSB.

Meltdown at the Bake-Off! Morovian chef, Stacy Muri, famed Morovian chef and host of the hit "A Tartistic Experience" TV show (an odd choice for the name, given the one time they actually attempted to cook tart on it, it was deemed "disgusting" by the taste testers and the episode was banned on all major Morovian cooking networks), recently competed in the Vilitan Mountain Games bake-off, where she cooked the delectable and hard-to-pull-off Morovian Elk Pie stuffed with a swirl of Banana, Vanilla, and Chocolate Pudding. Unfortunately, it seems the judges did not like the sound of this, nor the set-up of the plate, because the dish was not competitive enough to even get into the taste section of the competition.

When the preliminary round selections were chosen, Muri threw what can only be described as a "hissy fit" - though she is known for her abrupt and sometimes downright hostile attitude in the kitchen, it is rare to see an occasion where she blames the judges for her own incapacities. Hurling deranged and nonsensical insults at the judges, including zingers such as "Dishonor upon you, your family, and your family's family! Shame, shame shame! Shame! I will commit obscure actions that you Vilitans probably describe as crimes as payback for this crime you just committed against me!" (which promptly got her reprimanded by Morovian officials who are terrified of a diplomatic incident) and "You unfaithful heathens wouldn't know 'visual presentation' if it hit you in the face" (followed by her hurling her own feces at the judges". Following this meltdown, she was promptly dragged away, and some spectators have reported seeing her shortly after on an express shuttle back to Morover.

An exclusive interview with Muri was recorded, but following the things said, we all agreed that the clip should not be shown, and we have scrubbed all footage and records of it. We hope that the viewing audience understands.

Tomorrow, we look forward to several more events. Jack Porle returns for the third event in a row, this time doing the Hammer Throw - a Morovian favorite. We also will see Kristen Coulo, in her heartwarming journey to recovery, and see how she performs in the Spears for Accuracy event. Millions of adoring fans have watched her story progress, and they are on the edge of their seat to see her succeed. Betting rings within Morover have been going crazy over the first event of The Slicer, and thoughts on whether or not it will be good at woodcutting. While little is known, many believe that it will be just incredible at the axe throw, but some are more hesitant if throwing an object at another counts as slicing.

Perhaps the least-anticipated upcoming event in Morover is the joust. While jousting is considered a noble sport throughout Morover, traditional, ultra-bulky Morovian steeds have made it difficult to master, so the general populace simply has the expectation that competitors with easier practice and more practical horses will excel at the event.

A metal weight is attached to the end of a wooden or other solid material shaft, about 4 feet in length. Competitors stand with their back facing the field and swing the hammer over their heads, before they twist 180 degrees and launch it as far as they can. The athletes may also choose to wear special boots with long blades fixed to the bottom, in order to make sure they stay fixed to that spot in the ground. The Competitor with the Highest Throw is withheld from making additional throws until their score is surpassed, at which point they may utilize all of their remaining attempts to re-take the lead. For the purpose of unnecessary complication ("Tradition") Distance is measured in standard Tachbean FEET.

Each Thrower will get 5 Axes to accumulate points on the board. The center target is worth 6 points and the outer rings are worth 4, 3, 2 and 1 points. Any miss of the board or Axe that hits the board outside the circles will earn 0 points. Two 'precision' targets in the upper corners of the target area are worth 8 points a piece if directly hit with the tip of the Axe. Standings will be based on Total Points over the 5 throws. Each competitor will receive a Clean Target board but their own Axes will remain in place after throwing.

Competitors will throw Traditional Vilitan Spears at a targets with a range beginning at 40 Tachbean Feet away and moving slightly away from the thrower. Targets will decrease in size at short and medium distance from the throwing circle. The competitor must hit each target in ascending order. The targets are on tracks such that they move horizontally across the field with respect to the thrower. The target may 'pop up' on the track at any point and will only be upright for a period of 4 seconds at a time. The thrower will have three attempts to hit a single target. If they hit the target successfully in three or fewer throws they will activate the next target which will be slightly down range - but more importantly will be just 80% of the size of the previous target. Each subsequent target grows smaller.

Should a thrower clear the 7th track they will complete their initial attempts and wait for other competitors to complete their initial runs. If more than 2 throwers accurately achieve the first 7 targets they will each advance to the far more challenging 8th, 9th and 10th stages as necessary. If multiple throwers clear the 10th stage they may opt to continue in a sudden-death throw off at that stage or share the championship.

In No Surprise Milchama Dominate War Games

The Vilitan War Games continue apace and so far Milchama have entered two events, spears for accuracy and spears for distance and have dominated both events winning handily in each to take two gold medals. Don Noladiti only needed one throw to beat the rest of the competition handily. Noladiti, born here of course, was very excited to win after throwing only one spear. Meanwhile, in accuracy, Kim Kameron had a much closer time in accuracy as Kuldar Myyrsisstästäjä from Nykipiflugpuu managed to survive the first 5 targets.

It came down to the 6th target Myyrsisstästäjä, going first, missed all three shots. The third shot was agonizingly seemingly chipping a corner of the target but not sticking, which according to the rules, means that the throw does not count. Kameron was not much better on the 6th target, missing the first one wildly, and missing the second one closely. However, she was able to make it on the third try snatching victory and giving Milchama our second gold medal of the Vilitan War Games.

Celebrations throughout Milchama have been pretty heavy, especially because it was this was one of the questions we had going into the event about how Milchama would do. Being the Warrior Peoples from a warrior country, doing well at the War Games was an important part of Milchamian self esteem. We wanted to do well so that we could prove that the name was not just a bluff but an actual entity that we could win with. And it's working so far! It turns out we are some of the best Warriors in the multiverse! Woo hoo!

However, there has been one other major story bubbling up under the surface that we want to look at, namely the athletes from HaAkademia Shel Krav. They are the only athletes without a nation and look suspiciously similar to the Milchamian athletes who were placed second on our list of three after our failed appeals to get more athletes into the games. It also sounds really similar to our military academy HaAdakemit HaKrav which seems like the people are trying to create a slightly different version that would fool the organizers. Our reporters are down there trying to figure out the story and we'll let you know more later.

For right now, I just want to say, Woo! Go Milchama! Beat up on those losers! Come on You Warriors! Let's Go Milchama!
Milchama Sports achievements:
World Baseball Classic 23 Champion!
Note: The demonym is Milchamian. There are two of the letter "I(i)" and not one.
