Rugby World Cups [RUWC 31/RLWC 20] IC thread

Postby Quintessence of Dust » Wed Dec 01, 2021 3:02 pm

Welcome to Quintessence of Dust for the 31st Rugby Union World Cup and Hannasea for the 20th Rugby League World Cup. This is an inaugural attempt at a test format for the Rugby World Cups, run alongside one another.

The information in this post applies to all participants. Specific information about the respective host countries will follow in the next two posts.

Format

Pending final confirmation on numbers, both tournaments will run group stages of five teams playing single round robin, leading to an 8-team knockout bracket.

Each MD, both tournaments will cutoff at the same time. RP bonus will apply per nation, meaning you can earn RP bonus for your union team with an RP about your league team, and vice versa; and that if you are only in one competition, you don't miss out on any bonus. RP bonus will be heavily weighted, and generously graded. An RP does not need to be long to earn a high bonus: a funny story or interesting anecdote is plenty.

Rosters

You are encouraged to post rosters as a basic courtesy to your opponents; a well written roster can earn a high RP bonus, too. Note that you must use separate rosters for the two tournaments: your team cannot compete simultaneously in two different codes in two different countries!

A rugby union team consists of fifteen players, given numbers 1 to 15. A recommended roster size is 31.

A rugby league team consists of thirteen players, given numbers 1 to 13. A recommended roster size is 24.

Things that will help your opponents RP and help earn you RP bonus for your roster include:
  • Using the numbering systems listed above, and indicating any national differences.
  • Listing a captain.
  • Listing a specialist kicker or two.
Additional details such as coaching staff, uniforms, play style, and fans are welcome; as all games will be played in the host countries, you do not need information on your national stadiums.

Please also include RP permissions and a style modifier.

Permissions

You are encouraged to post a permissions box along the following lines:
Code: Select all
[box][b]RP permissions[/b]
If my opponent RPs first, they may...
Choose my try scorers Y/N
Choose my kicker Y/N
RP injuries Y/N
Godmode scoring events Y/N
Godmode injuries Y/N
Godmode other events Y/N[/box]

Godmoding in NS Sports generally refers to weird and unusual outcomes unlikely to happen in the normal course of a sporting event.

In rugby, a team generally has one or two designated kickers. You are encouraged to clarify on your roster who your kickers will be, in order to help your opponents RP.

You must read and follow your opponents' permissions. Any disputes should be raised in the OOC thread or by TG/DM, and the host's decision will be final in resolving such matters if needed.

Irrespective of your personal permissions, the following tournament-wide permissions are in effect:
  • Every game will be officiated with the assistance of a Television Match Official to provide replay judgements.
  • No destructive violence such as destroying stadiums or killing civilians. If you wish to RP fights between players or minor crowd trouble and have your opponents' permission, you may do so, but you may not undertake actions that would reasonably lead to a security incident.
  • No COVID-19 storylines. Both host countries have strict biofilters and anyway the disease is unknown in their RP universe. You may not bring COVID to the country or infect other teams.
Style modifier

You may include a style modifier. This indicates whether your team is more attacking or more defensive; it has no impact on whether they are more likely to win. For this tournament, style modifiers are capped in the range of ±2. Please indicate your style modifiers clearly, if possible in the first or last line of your roster; and please make it clear which modifier applies to which team if you are RPing both union and league! Teams without style modifiers designated will be set at a neutral 0.

Pot 1
Quintessence of Dust (5 - host)
Lisander (2)
Ko-oren (3)
Nova Anglicana (4)
Pot 2
Baggieland (6)
Alice Bay (7)
Darmen (8)
Abanhfleft (9)
Pot 3
Quebec and Shingoryeo (10)
Kelssek (11)
TJUN-ia (19)
Busoga Islands (20)
Pot 4
HUElavia (23)
Bollonich (=26)
Natanians and Nosts (=26)
The Licentian Isles (=26)
Unranked
Brookstation
Ingla Terra
Space Elephants
StrayaRoos
The Cordian Isles
The Grearish Union
Trolleborg
United Adaikes

As host, Quintessence of Dust were automatically drawn as A1; otherwise 1 team from each pot plus 2 unranked teams were drawn to each group, the order of which was then randomized.

Group A
Based in the West of the country, traditionally seen as the home of Quodite Liberalism. The most prosperous region, but also the most politically isolated, leading to a certain snootiness among the population. The West is the home of the Anglo-French elite who founded and used to culturally dominate the country prior to successive waves of immigration.

On each day, the first listed game will be played at New Cleethorpes Deathshriek Park in the region's largest city, home of the country's leading rugby club; the second at The Goldfish Bowl in Piedmont, West Sponson, a dual-use rugby/football stadium; and the third at The Bailiwick, rugby ground of the University of East Sponson, based in the Greater Scunthorpe Municipality/Slurry Reprocessing Orb.

Quintessence of Dust (5 - host)
StrayaRoos (UR)
The Cordian Isles (UR)
Kelssek (11)
HUElavia (23)
Alice Bay (7)

Group Ayyy
Based in the East of the country, traditionally seen as the home of Quodite Social Democracy. The East has been heavily defined by waves of immigration, first from Central and Eastern Europe; later from East Asia. The country's industrial heartland, the east has been through wages of economic decline and regneration.

On each day, the first listed game will be played at Twelvefields Park in Pulona, home of one of the most succcessful Quodite clubs, Tourseilles; the second New Cleethorpes Deathshriek Park in the region's largest city, home of the country's leading rugby club; the second at Neverchester Burrow in Rahlia; and the third at the State University of Pulona ground, known for unspecified reasons as The Wang.

The Licentian Isles (=26)
Ko-oren (3)
TJUN-ia (19)
Darmen (8)
Trolleborg (UR)
Ingla Terra (UR)

Group Eh?
Based in the North of the country, where the Quintessential Alps make up the bulk of the mountainous, snowy terrain. The North was heavily populated by Fenno-Scandian immigrants and their cultural identity is strongest here. The people in the North are usually regarded as highly individualistic, but not unwelcoming to outsiders, and the mountains do a lively tourist trade in winter sports.

On each day, the first listed game will be played at Snowborough Stadium in Frendry, home of the famous Greschmeier Mountain Sports Club; the second at Likkilai Lane, Ballat, home of the no-less famous Kynythin Mountain Sports Club; and the third at the home ground of the significantly less famous Quodite saint, The Holy Immaculate Stadium of Saint Grapefruit the Anomic.

Abanhfleft (9)
United Adaikes (UR)
Bollonich (=26)
Nova Anglicana (4)
Quebec and Shingoryeo (10)
The Grearish Union (UR)

Group Ɐ
Based in the Centre of the country, and the capital city Highmark. A bustling metropolis in Quodite terms with nearly a quarter of the nation's [terrestrial population], at little more 1 million Highmark is still tiny by international standards. It's a "melting pot that did not melt", with distinct Anglo and Chinese quarters.

On each day, the first listed game will be played at the National Stadium of Sports, the largest in the country; the second at Greenfields Road in the northern suburb of Toonmar; and the third at the Practical Experimental Sciences Laboratory a.k.a. Sports Field #3 of the Institute for Advanced Study in the Social Sciences, Highmark City University.

Lisander (2)
Space Elephants (UR)
Brookstation (UR)
Natanians and Nosts (=26)
Baggieland (6)
Busoga Islands (20)

No groups will be based in the South as it is too cold to host rugby, but tourist trips will be made available for those wishing to visit the spaceport.

Hannasea (=21 - hosts)
Abanhfleft (2)
Ko-oren (5)
Natanians and Nosts (7)
Pot 2
TJUN-ia (8)
Darmen (10)
Copper Cuprum (11)

Brookstation
Busoga Islands

Ingla Terra
Quebec and Shingoryeo
Space Elephants
StrayaRoos

As hosts, Hannasea were automatically drawn as B2; then 1 team from each pot and 2 unranked teams were added to each group.

Group B
This group will be based in Pearl City. Though not the capital, Pearl City is Hannasea's biggest, richest, and just plain coolest city. The hub of modern Hannasean culture, the home of the leading businesses including the powerful Guild of Solderers, and the place to be... yeah, rent here is a nightmare. You'll need a mortgage for a cup of coffee.

On each matchday, the first listed game will be played at Jellyblooble Bay Park, the most famous ground in the country; and the second at The Consternation Station.

StrayaRoos (UR)
Hannasea (=21 - hosts)
Copper Cuprum (11)
Kriegiersien (=50)
HUElavia (=24)

Group Bee Movie
This group will split games between the Incomprehensible Peninsula port city of Upper Niedewe, home of the Guild of Pepperers [spice traders], and Brethwick, home of the Guild of Glaziers [historically famous for stained glass, today better known for their role in precision scientific equipment].

On each matchday, the first listed game will be played at Oceanbay Park, Upper Niedewe, a purpose-built multisports facility built atop the Cliffs of Strangeness; and the second listed game at Seat of Quickwinds, a small stadium chiefly famous for being one of the only in the world to feature stained glass VIP boxes. Please don't kick the ball
too hard.

Natanians and Nosts (7)
Ancharmunn (=17)
Quebec and Shingoryeo (UR)
Brookstation (UR)
Trolleborg (14)

Group Bea Arthur
The games in this group will be played in the city of Greenfield, a small university city. At the forefront of modern scientific research, Greenfield boasts a massive Science Park where biotech, nanotech, cybertech, and basically anythingtech researchers work determinedly to unlock the secrets of the universe, namely, how to make as much money as possible. Greenfield is also the home of the Guild of Management Consultants.

On each matchday, the first listed game will be played at the Katie Walsh Stadium, just across from the Science Park outside the city and fans will be taken there by a quick shuttle train service; and the second at Chalcester Gardens, based within the city and a 100% eco-sustainable stadium (helpfully, no one knows what that means).

Ochre Islands (=17)
Ingla Terra (UR)
Abanhfleft (2)
Space Elephants (UR)
Darmen (10)

Group Б
The games in this group will be played in the city of Pintook, on the shores of Lake Took, home of the Guild of Mercers, which is the most powerful guild in the Federation. Inland, Pintook is built on the shores of the massive Lake Took. The city is famous for never having seen a day of war.

On each matchday, the first listed game will be played at Mercer Park and featuring bright multicoloured seating matching the famous painted houses that line the shore of Lake Took; and the second listed game at the Sara Baker Stadium, a small, rather drab little ground in Pintook itself.

ラグビーリーグコーレン代表 - Équipe du Co-oren de rugby à XIII - Seleccão Co-orenense de Rugby League - Rugby League Kouren Daivyou

Demonym: Ko-orenite
Colours: Green & Blue, yellow trim
Style mod: -5

Position - Name (age) Club team / State team

Starting XIII
FB Hochi Endo (22) Katashi Hawks, a practical, muscular clown.
LW Alph Nicollier (20) Aminey Buffaloes, a mean, fast captain.
LC Takahira Satomi (30) Alara Spiders, a defensive, bulky carrier.
RC Ffwllnhil yLeorrhag (26) Alara Spiders, a reckless, bulky long kicker.
RW Gogo Abbadie (22) Nitoya Foxes, a paranoid, staunch journeyman.
SO Yoma Muramoto (29) Aminey Buffaloes, a surprising, thin technician.
HB Momo Bourseiller (27) Alara Spiders, a anxious, heavy perfect kicker.
LP Marcos Laza (29) Etouille Vultures, a jealous, strong debater.
HO Vidal Testa (24) Aminey Buffaloes, a hopeful, portly leader.
RP Baris Bran (28) Ferrovente Scorpions, a plucky, skinny strategist.
LS Né Girardot (22) Aminey Owls, a boring, slender perfect passer.
RS Tadeu Varela (26) Santa Teresa Sabres, a popular, buff professional.
LO Marn Calkhoven (25) Alara Spiders, a flaky, agile try scorer.

Substitutions
FB Blai Kaplan (27) Etouille Vultures, a impressionable, bulky speed demon.
LC Sté Brunet (28) Linieux Harriers, a faithful, athletic workhorse.
RW Nath Galopin (22) Etouille Vultures, a communicative, nimble carrier.
SO Maurice Courbet (26) Aminey Owls, a prejudiced, muscular mercenary.
HB Nobo Cellier (24) Selesi Dragons, a dynamic, bulky precise kicker.
HO Tamotsu Okazaki (23) Katashi Wasps, a casual, well built cheater.
RP Shinji Vakasugi (23) Katashi Hawks, a stupid, thin jack of all trades.
LS Na Matthieu (26) Aminey Buffaloes, a busy, tiny tackler.
LS Zaquiel Ramo (27) Ferrovente Scorpions, a romantic, lanky long kicker.

The starting XIII are basically domestic league superstars, but not all positions are created equal.
With Fujioka finally retired at HB, the team has to work around a new spine. For now, that seems to be Muramoto and Bourseiller at the halves, where Muramoto always has a trick up his sleeve while Bourseiller is a more traditional halfback who distributes the ball and does the kicking. They're supported by a new fullback, Endo, who has a lot of learning to do but seems to have a higher ceiling than Kaplan. Endo's play is fairly well-rounded but may surprise his teammates sometimes.

The focus is on the forwards, though. Bran is a veteran on this team. Girardot is far and away the best player of the most recents season. Testa is a surprise that even the Buffaloes didn't see coming, but he's grown considerably into his role and is a great communicator. Even the subs are great players, with Matthieu being the biggest name among them.

RUWC - Ko-orenite National Team - The Dragonflies
Image

Backs
The fullback is tremendously important to the Ko-orenite game in keeping the defence tight. Having looked at (and suffered at the hand of) the Darmeni two-fullback system, we employ that in some troublesome times as well. Bilaranora is the more defensive option, yPheffchawll is more attacking minded, while Scenay is a bit of both. Warmeling and yChonpad are light-footed, quick wingers that can dance around defenders. Carson can score and let his teammates score, especially with some forward support (or with one of our more try scoring centres). Broderib is almost guaranteed of a starting spot with his incredible creativity, while Carrington is fairly straightforward (but not less unstoppable).

Fullbacks
FB Kagageerra Bilaranora (28) Tarrashall Travellers, a conservative, plump debater.
FB Meobich yPheffchawll (27) Mawrystwyth Phoenix, a careful, buff precise passer.
FB Melton Scenay (30) Idyllwild Coronae, a solemn, bulky perfect passer.

Wingers
LW Morton Carson (23) Mawrystwyth Phoenix, a adaptable, athletic perfect passer.
LW Tei Warmeling (22) Mayara Wanderers-Vulpecula, a solemn, pacy tactician.
RW Douglas Primmer (23) Aubury Swans, a modern, powerful communicator.
RW Twngawn yChonpad (22) Llandy Bulls, a frivolous, nimble tackler.

Centres
IC Dwight Carrington (22) Eaglebury Aquila, a abrasive, fit creator.
IC Chauncey Weston (24) Llandy Bulls, a intelligent, bony captain.
OC Wilford Leroy Broderib (25) Willowbourne Foxes, a resourceful, well built cheater.
OC Masahiko Morimoto (23) Ansonville Comets, a popular, burly debater.

Halves
Kicking is another important part of the game, and the halves are most often looked at to choose when and where to do it. Vasseur and Whithingham is a very strong combination, as they've been the half duo for a while. Amaranga has only recently come into the spotlights. yBhachill is still rising.

SH Ba Vasseur (26) Greencaster Galaxy, a chatty, petite journeyman.
SH Jinnamoora Amaranga (31) Tarrashall Travellers, a sincere, nimble cheater.
FH Nimrod Whithingham (27) Eaglebury Aquila, a helpful, petite strategist.
FH Dewsloff yBhachill (21) Llandy Bulls, a ordinary, tall showman.

Forwards
They'll never give up and can always get extra effort out of their tired bodies, the forwards are typically all-rounders in that they can tackle very well and run somewhat alright. Darche, Connor, Jauffret, and Holden are the stars of this group, backed up by a great Reejulga and Weddall, who have very different skills.

Number 8
N8 Syl Darche (24) Maynard Andromeda, a courageous, muscular carrier.
N8 Mayra Reejulga (25) Idyllwild Coronae, a rebellious, slim turnover generator.

Flankers
BF Merrill Connor (25) Willowbourne Foxes, a understanding, strong creator.
BF Bayou Grootemarsink (23) Tarrashall Travellers, a flaky, slim captain.
OF Mingun Yougung (31) Idyllwild Coronae, a philosophical, instinctive perfect passer.

Locks
LS Al Jauffret (27) Greencaster Galaxy, a hostile, quick technician.
LS Gene Weddall (24) Idyllwild Coronae, a uncompromising, short trickster.
RS Gemhaeg yDdwffrell (27) Penstead Bears, a humorous, slim wall.

Props
LP Cowan Holden (25) Mayara Wanderers-Vulpecula, a moody, buff assister.
LP Newddlawdd yTewnchaeg (33) Llandy Bulls, a cynical, thin journeyman.
TP Cristobo Sanjurjo (20) Llandy Bulls, a dim, tall professional.
TP Chwntef yLleffnof (26) Mawrystwyth Phoenix, a charming, quick wall.

Hookers
HO Gonlhewff yDichhig (24) Penstead Bears, a reckless, tiny controller.
HO Loyal Farrell (22) Maynard Andromeda, a intelligent, well built journeyman.
HO Respaudul Dhaumuringun (21) Mayara Wanderers-Vulpecula, a sympathetic, fast artist.

Style & Strategy
Style mod: -5. Ko-oren plays an extremely risk-averse style with an emphasis on kicking (both defensively and offensively). They rarely play dirty, but do employ some gamesmanship depending on who's on the field.

Trivia
At home, Ko-oren will wear a mainly green jersey with blue and yellow trim. As an away jersey (and to avoid colour clashes), there's stories of a white jersey with green and blue trim lying somewhere in a supply closet, but we're sure the staff managed to find them in time.

Nickname: Harriers

Captain: Robert Mangham

Grearish rugby is governed by the Rugby Federation of the Grearish Union, and currently only recognises the Union code of the game. Established rather recently when compared to the other heritage federations, it is determined to establish a strong foothold in the rugby community of the multiverse. All major clubs of the Union rugby scene came up to form the RFGU in 1963 when the unofficial Grearish Harriers were given a formal status, leading up to the proclamation of the white-and-gold as the national team. Players on this team were comprised of such local clubs, and a culture of national pride in rugby was instilled that far back in time. In modern times, it is an effort to chase this glory that drives the Harriers.

This being the first proper Rugby Union World Cup that the RFGU will be sending a team to, creates a situation of immense pressure on the Harriers, who will have to take the good run of form they have been having in international club rugby and to bring that experience on to the biggest stage that the multiverse can offer. The 30th Rugby Union World Cup will also run concurrently with the Rugby League World Cup, which, of course is a code that the RFGU does not recognise. Some have deemed it as a historic even that the Harriers will have to capitalise on, to leave a mark on world rugby, while others have called it an occasion to fight to save face against the best in the world. Whatever the case may be, the fifteen that go into battle behind Robert Mangham will all put in their all to make a difference in putting Grearish rugby on the sporting map of the multiverse.

The build-up to this World Cup comprised a two-year training period under the able tutleage of Ryuuji Yamada, who last played for Quintessence of Dust in the 29th Rugby Union World Cup internationally and club Priassa domestically, before transitioning into the coaching realm in rugby. He was offered the Grearish coach's role right after the completion of the previous World Cup, to create a strong foundation for the future of the national team. The 40-something-year-old from QoD is known to be a man who insists on having solid basics than being in possession of the flashiest of tricks, and one can thus expect the Grearish side to do the simple things really well while trying to break down the opposition.

Traditionally, the Harriers have been known to go to great lengths to play a fair game and this culture is inculcated in players right from the school level upwards. Decisions of the referees are always accepted with a bowed head and it is against the national rugby culture to get into arguments and altercations on the field both physically and verbally. Grearia plays fair.

The Harriers will play in their age-old gold-on-white hoops that are very loved by the small, but hardcore supporting community in the nation. The alternative, or away kit would be a gold-on-black variation that is also sure to carry the Grearish heritage into the tournament while showing their skills to the world. The rights for kits have been won by Grearish kit manufacturer Equinox, who will be producing these brilliant shirts for fans and players alike. With the proper introduction into international rugby, the company expects to see its sales boom over the next few years especially while owning the kit providing rights.

Ferideia of Tikariot are the primary sponsor the Harriers in a three-year deal that has been agreed between the brand and RFGU, which is now in its last year. The deal has been instrumental in propelling rugby into one of the biggest leagues in the country, harbouring corporate attention for the sport and making it gain a popular status in the sportscape of the nation. It is rumoured that the RFGU will be looking to either renew the contract or to look for other sponsors from the next international outing.

Scrum!: Double Trouble Amongst The Chaos!

Postby TJUN-ia » Sat Dec 04, 2021 7:33 am

Nation Name: TJUN-ia
Trigram: TJU
Nickname: Jaguars
Governing Body: Rugby TJUN-ia (RT-U for Union/RT-L for League)
Head Coach (Union 15s): Jacob Peterson (32)
Head Coach (League): Louise Peterson (32)
Home Jersey: Blue Shirts/Orange Shorts
Away Jersey: White Shirts/Blue Shorts
3rd Jersey: Orange Shirts/White Shorts
Style Mod (Both): +1

A lot can happen in both a short amount of time and a large amount of time. Only a few months have passed since AVBF7, where TJUN-ia's Sevens team managed to reach the Cup Knockouts in an otherwise good performance overall, but was enough time for the whole nature of this sport in U3 to be completely upended. The NSRB will, most likely, not exist after this tournament cycle is done and no one really knows how this decision will affect the future of Union, League or Sevens. What we do know is that, for the past year, two twins from Riverside in the JagBase, Jacob and Louise Peterson, have been employed by the RT to develop our players and to prepare for this period where, for the first time ever, two WCs will be held at the same. One, in Quintessence of Dust, has been in the making for 2 years now. The other, in Hannasea, for double that.

Both coaches operate an attacking style and for Union Coach Jacob, he will be hoping that will help the Jaguars build upon the successes of before. Their first RUWC went pretty well, going 2-2 overall with a 2nd in the group and a 5-point loss to Quebec and Shingoryeo in the Round of 16. Reaching the playoffs on debut was certainly a good thing and that means Jacob will enter his first RUWC with the 19th ranked team in the world. Everyone from last time is still here, albeit a little bit old, and Wyn Gwyneth was sure to welcome the new boss with open arms as captain. One change the RT-U has implemented is that now, we have to list who will be doing the kicks for the team if required - so Jose Valbuena's role from last time is made official with young Nehe Te Toiroa acting as a backup option. The group they've been given for the 2nd go around is certainly fun, so who knows if this unit can make the Top 2 by the end.

As for Louise, she had the task of managing the League outfit - a team who celebrated actually getting to play for the 2nd time after the long wait they have had. It has 4 long years since THAT WC long ago when an explosive and young TJUN-ia side made their debuts in style by winning all their group games and reaching the quarterfinals. Going 7-1 in your first tournament is going to get you noticed and that means that for the 2nd tournament, TJUN-ia will by #8 in the world - yes, #8 after only 1 tournament. Jack Henderson, both Captain and Kicker, has been preparing his boys for the longest time to go out there and prove what happened in Copper Cuprum wasn't a fluke at all and with Virat Maharashtra now the backup Kicker on the Interchange and the Reserve players now officially given squad numbers, this family of 13s players are now ready to take on the world once more and with an interesting group ahead, they will certainly be ready for anything that this WC may throw at them.

Two teams are ready for anything. Who knows what may happen next...

In line with ancient tradition for rugby competitions, it is assumed that before the start of every game – of course, with all the precautions taken – both team players going to light a ritual bonfire in our half of the field and perform ceremonies that are appropriate for the occasion.

TROLLEBORG NATIONAL RUGBY LEAGUE TEAM

Coach – Jesper Stromnes, 55 years old
Chosen by unanimous vote by our rugby management and fans, and that says it all about his qualifications and reputation. The team under his leadership performed quite well at the debute tournament, having achieved a place in the playoffs on the first try, and this is a thing to which Trolleborg owes a surge of interest in rugby of all kinds. If he succeeds in anything else, his name will undoubtedly will be written in the annals of the history of this sport in Trolleborg by golden letters.

Team
The squad is staffed mainly by natives of the two most "rugby" regions. According to the available expert comments, the squad have a strong defensive inclination counting on fast attacks and is well balanced for these tasks. Change of guard between two tournaments is mainly cosmetic, so if someone has his favourites among the players, he almost certainly find him right now. Henningsen was voted as captain and most probably Kjellevold and Henningsen are kick tackers.

This is the debut competition for Trolleborg team in this sport, and, altought most of the Trolleborg citizens right now confuse forms of rugby, the willingness to support their compatriots no matter what they do, extends very far, so the team is, in any case, provided with noisy support.

Coach – Trond Torquelston (57 y.o.). As customary in Trolleborg, he was appointed as a result of consolidated vote of coaches, experts and fans. Not most decorated coach, but well known for his ability to create strong teams with stable psychological climate.

Greetings, compatriots!
It’s TTV from Rugby Championships. Yes, there are two of them – in the one frame and simultaneously. As you all know, until recent times rugby is a highly visible sport mainly in two regions of our country, but right now changes on the way. There was a tremendous interest in this sport and National Association proclaims that there was proposals for six new teams in addition to the ten already existed. This sport until recently played mainly on the forest lawns with earthwork around on which spectators standing on, which is as close as possible to the conditions of times, when this noble sport that stitching together fight, teamwork and runs, just begin. Now rugby has gone literally out of the woods to the arenas, the last finals were held at the stadium on December 1 in the presence of top state officials, and the public is watching with interest how our lads show themselves in the new tournament with this new and unusual two-in-one format.

We must comment to our foreign viewers, that rugby is definitely not the most popular sport in Trolleborg, but in a country as large, populated and diverse as ours, there will be people which was fond even to the most extraordinary activities. And since the country is rich and wants its inhabitants not to deny themselves anything they desire to do, there is also the opportunity to provide places for training and the possibility to go to international competitions. As with previous rugby tournaments, in this case state also subisidized tickets for the fans. But it can be said, that most of our citizens right now are seriously confused about the types of rugby and their rules, they are able to understand how things are going only by the scoreboard and the emotions of coaches and players. Especially for these, TTV will keep on-screen an inset from the camera showing the coaching staff of our teams, and will bring three experts to the studio, hoping to provide viewers with the best possible understanding of the situation on the field and around. Before the start of all games, they will analyze the matches of the just ended national championship, at the same time acquaint spectators with the teams and their significant players.

In the meantime, let us inform you about what to expect. For Rugby League team this is second ever tournament, and first one was relatively successfull, lads won five out of six games at the group stage while having as opponents teams of Darmen, Megistos and Natanians and Nosts. Many fans waited for even more, but team lost to Bostopia at the first round of playoffs (and Bostopia was being beaten by Abanhfleft at the next round). Team begins group stage right now as a second-seed, in the ranking table far behind the same Natanians and Nosts and just ahead of Ancharmunn. But we all know, that Trolleborgians never succeed in things known as “rank-coasting”, so we all must be ready to disappointments despite best efforts.

Union team debuted this time, having fifth position on the start, and probably fans must prepare for a tough times.

Good luck to our teams!

Quebec and Shingoryeo Rugby Union National Team

Nickname: Grim Reapers
Acronym: QUE
Denonym: Quebecois (Preferred), Quebecer (that's fine)
Official Supporters Group: The Bubonic Plague
Style Mod: Lowest Possible (usually -5, in this case -2)

Head Coach: Philippe Leonard, 59
Lead Assistant Coach: Merrick-Lee Lessard, 36

The smaller pie rugby world has won in the Quebecois sporting world has meant that the rugby, as a whole, has taken greater approaches to play professionally alongside other nations in the Quebecois Commonwealth, whose interest and financials allow for international travels. Most of the members of the Quebecois and the Acadianan national teams do play in the Quebecois Commonwealth Rugby SuperLeague, a 16-team league of four nations (Quebec and Shingoryeo, Quebecois Acadiana, Busoga Islands and Quebecois Sudafrique union). Because of this, however, it takes greater efforts for the national team camps or schedules to be put together, and the team's cohesion will likely take years to develop over time.

This squad, while surprising all with their superb defence and their ability to minimise mistakes made on scrums on their quarterfinals run last RUWC, still has lots to go in international experience. While their tenth-place rank on international rugby union rankings is considered respectable, most fans at home and abroad know this is probably too high even by their standards and will be content with a playoff appearance this time. Thus, it is expected that this team be frustrated more often than not, and the fans to remain patient with their journeys as they continue to battle for relevance.

Style Mod: Highest Possible (usually +5, in this case +2)

Head Coach: Nell Park, 30
Lead Assistant Coach: Rasmus Josephsen, 28

Players all come from the six-team North Star League (NSL). It is a fully-professional league that is still a work-in-progress in organisational side of things, but at least is getting decent media coverage and players paid. Unlike with most Quebecois sports leagues, neither CSKA nor Koreana field a team in the league, meaning that there's a bit more variety and parity in terms of strengths between the clubs themselves.

This is a fairly young squad that is inexperienced on the international stage. Surprisingly enough, there is no player below the age of 22 selected - this decision was made as most Quebecois rugby league players either grew up in Quebecois Acadiana (a rarity now) or played union until their decision to switch to a much more lucrative NSL over Quebecois Commonwealth Rugby SuperLeague. As a result, expect the players to really focus on emphasising their physicality and speed, with teamwork one thing they plan to build over the next few years.

THE CHIEFDOM OF COPPER CUPRUM
NATIONAL RUGBY LEAGUE TEAM

This is the second time that Copper Cuprum will be participating in the Rugby League World Cup. Rugby league is the most popular code of rugby football in the Chiefdom, with the Copperite Rugby League being the oldest sporting competition in the country dating back to 1937. Copper Cuprum had been long isolated from the international community since it is a small island archipelago located deep in the middle of the Lazarus Ocean, far from any regular shipping lanes since man first sailed ships. The nation was only discovered by the Fleftic Navy in 1914, when they were searching for the daughter of President Rufus Wole Mensah, whose ship was wrecked in the general vicinity of the islands. Arriving in the capital of the islands, they discovered that Chief Zed had made the President's daughter his queen, generating a sudden alliance between the two countries. And Copper Cuprum was also rich in copper, so that was a good thing for Abanhfleft too...

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation:
The Chiefdom of Copper Cuprum
Demonym: Copperite
Kits: Initially, the Copperite national rugby sevens team was not supposed to wear any kits as ordinary people know them. Instead they would have played wearing only white loincloths and nothing else. However, in the interests of modesty and compliance with the international standard, the Copperite team has elected to wear a new uniform with alternating black and white hoops and black shorts.
Team colors: Black and white
Style modifier: +1.00 (A balanced team with a slight focus on offense)
Head coach: Count Varozke Sifoto (50 y/o, Copper Cuprum)
Notes: It is Copperite tradition to slit the throat of a live chicken before a game and then spread the spilled blood on the field. However, after the Valladar authorities advised the Copperite Football Federation against performing this tradition after local audiences were shocked by this tradition, it has been decided that in place of this tradition, Copperite players will now cut off the head of a rubber chicken before a game and then toss the head around like a hot potato. This is the version that will be used in international tournaments. However, Copperite players will still perform the chicken sacrificing ritual when playing in the Chiefdom whether or not the other team (or the event organizers for that matter) likes it. The Copperites hope to turn this tradition into their version of the haka.

STARTING THIRTEEN
Key: Number, name (in boldface), position, age
#1 Kanarga Banosti (Fullback, 31, captain)
#2 Sofordo Zimusu (Right Wing, 28)

#7 Etolde Zikotsy (Scrum Half, 25)
#8 Kafuda Zinorok (Prop, 25)

#17 Anupi Bitale (31)
#18 Ozozo Zinabi (32)
#19 Noruzo Ijuhy (27)
#20 Zanerka Nobuna (29)

RP PERMISSIONS
  • Copperite names are different from the Western naming convention in that the clan name comes first followed by a person's name. All Copperite persons, unless otherwise specified, should be referred to by their given names (aka the second name in the order) in shorthand, because to refer to a Copperite by their clan name is considered disrespectful at best and an insult at worst.
  • Binarda Binarla is the designated kicker of this Copper Cuprum team. In the event that Binarla is taken off the field, Bitawa Hurede will become the new kicker.
  • Everything except killing my players is fair game.

Licentian National Rugby Union Team

Rugby union is one of the major sports in the Licentian Isles, most popular in Colesham and sections of Montfort Parish. For many years rugby in the Isles was intertwined with our neighbours across the Channel in Apox through the Super Sixteen, but now after the isolation from the rest of the multiverse, Licentian rugby will have to redevelop on its own merit rather than benefitting from competition with their neighbours. With the beginning of the Super Eight, purely on Licentian soil, and strong performances from Port Arran and Carrington Devils in the first two seasons, it’s no surprise that players from those two sides make up a majority of the squad travelling to Quintessence of Dust.

Licentian rugby is focussed fairly heavily on the forwards, with some importance also given to tactical kicking. Tries are just as likely to come from a rolling maul or a penalty try resulting from repeated forced scrum infractions as they are from a flowing move through the backs. Outside halves and centres are expected to be able to both pass and kick from hand, with more importance probably given to the latter skill.

Head Coach – Lilly Buchanan

Squad:

Loosehead Props:
Evie Webster – 29 years – Port Arran
Sienna Porter – 25 years – Montfort

Hookers:
Tom Gordon – 30 years – Carrington Devils
Lachlan Christie – 25 years – Colesham City Blues

Alasdair Munroe – 25 years – Port Arran
Cody Tait – 24 years – Carrington Devils

Locks:
Caitrìona Gilmour (CAPTAIN) – 32 years – Montfort
Niall Lennox – 27 years – Carrington Devils

Leo Turner – 26 years – Islanders
Ollie Graham – 21 years – Port Arran

Blindside Flankers:
Kieran Wilkie – 29 years – Carrington Devils
Jonah van de Pol – 22 years - Islanders

Openside Flankers:
Aidan Quinn – 24 years – Colesham City Blues
Ollie Docherty – 23 years – Montfort

Number Eights:
Struan Morton – 28 years – Port Arran
Fionnlagan MacNair – 23 years – Thornhill Reds

Scrum Halves:
Aaron Campbell – 27 years – Port Arran
Murray Aitken – 22 years – Port Arran

Outside Halves:

Full Backs:
Sam Todd – 30 years – Colesham City Blues
Theodore Irvine – 22 years – Carrington Devils

Kits: The home kit of the rugby teams of the Licentian Isles are a cyan shirt with gold sash, cyan shorts, and gold socks. The change strip is white with a gold sash bordered on both sides by cyan, and utilises the same shorts and socks.

RP Permissions:
If my opponent should RP first, they may:
Choose my scorers – Y, though note comments above about how tries are most likely to be scored, along with the fact that Hunter, Todd, and King are the most likely to kick penalties and conversions in that order
Godmod scoring events - Y, but nothing too ridiculous
RP injuries to my players - Y, but nothing serious, and TG me to make me aware
Godmod injuries to my players - N
Suspend players - TG me to make me aware
Godmod suspensions - N
Godmod other events - N

Fair play and respect are important to Licentian players, and they should not be depicted as going outside the bounds of normal behaviour during a match without prior permission. I will also not tolerate the introduction of any virus or other world-changing thing to the Isles without prior permission.

Player ages are correct as of the first matchday.

Catarina Scott, from TRZ.LS
Problems in paradise?

Lisander Rugby Union is in a tricky time. Facing widespread criticism over the mismanagement of Club Rugby, that is failing to send teams to RUCT, needing to explain poor results in the Sevens and the huge commotion caused by the demise of the NSRB, then under the management of a board captained by a Lisanderian fellow, have come to cause a screw drop in confidence that Patricio Bernauer's team will be able to defend their title.

The team that begins its journey to maintain its hegemony on the world Rugby scene will see little different rivals. A repeat of the last final against Throstles from Baggieland in the group state still promises great excitement. However, the withdrawal of great nations such as Neu Engollon, Hutanjia and Elejamie makes the path a little less complicated.

The "shameful" defeat suffered against San Ortelio in the Olympic Quarterfinals is still stuck in the throat of the fans. There are a plethora of feuds between the Union and the Clubs, and even between Clubs and other Clubs, who differ over the financial aspects of the sport in these days of streaming, image rights and sponsorships. All this in a sport that still seeks a balance between its amateur roots and the present where Rugby is no longer just the game of every Saturday.

Style Modifier: -5
Tactics: The Darmeni game puts an emphasis on territorial advantage, thereby making the team's kicking game its most important asset. Darmeni teams will go for three points at any chance they get; receiving the resulting kick-off following the score will give them an advantage in possession as well. Scoring actual tries is very much an afterthought.

Head Coach: Marcel MacLeod
