Gandoor wrote:1) Are same-sex relationships legal? Yes.
)Are same-sex unions recognised? (If yes, by civil unions or marriage?) Yes, civil unions (known in Gandoor as same-sex partnerships) were recognized in 1975. In 1988, same-sex partnerships were phased out following the legalization of same-sex marriage that year. All same-sex couples who were entered into a same-sex partnership between 1975 and 1988 (and have not gotten formally married) are still registered as being in one, but it is considered to be equivalent to marriage in all-but name nowadays.
)What kind of parental rights (adoption, surrogacy, etc...) are there? LGBT+ individuals have been allowed to adopt children since 1977, an LGBT+ individual has been allowed to adopt their partner's biological child (stepchild adoption) since 1977, and LGBT+ couples have been allowed to jointly adopt a child since 1979. All couples and individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation, have been allowed to adopt a child born via a surrogate mother since 1990.
)Is it legal to change your gender? (If yes, does it requires sterilization?) Yes, transgender individuals have been able to change their legal gender since 1958. The law requiring that transgender individuals be sterilized before they could legally change their gender was repealed in 1994, following the passage of laws prohibiting discrimination on the basis of gender identity.
)Is there any form of neutral or third gender? Several of the indigenous peoples of Gandoor recognize the existence of a third gender. Since 2017, the Democratic Republic has recognized an 'other' category for gender, which is considered to encompass all gender identities outside of the male/female binary.
)Are there any anti-discrimination laws concerning sexual/romantic orientation? Yes, discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation has been prohibited since 1967 (this law is considered to encompass romantic orientation).
)Are there any anti-discrimination laws concerning gender identity? Yes, discrimination on the basis of gender identity has been prohibited since 1993.
]Are there any anti-discrimination laws concerning gender expression? Not officially, but the above law prohibiting gender identity discrimination is considered to encompass gender expression as well.
)Is hate speech on LGBTQIA+ identities illegal, or does it fall under the freedom of speech? The government does not criminalize mocking or insulting speech against any group, only speech which calls for violence, either explicit or implicit, against a protected class or group (which LGBT+ people do fall under).
)Does sex education in YN cover sexual/romantic orientation, gender identity and gender expression? Yes, it has been part of the national curriculum standards since the late 1990s.
