[Idea!] What if we could pick our own Issues?

Postby Polomon Islands » Tue Nov 16, 2021 6:20 am

(1 DAY AGO) I've been wondering about the future of issues, I know more nation's are creating innovative issues but one thing is that we rarely get them.
So I had the idea of picking your own issues, now I have been learning on if this was gonna be a new feature and it seems everyone will likely be picking those with Civil Rights (+4.216) or Economy (+3.978) or even Political Freedom (+5.672).

(TODAY) So this idea seems bad because those with amazing issues with bad outcomes will be left out maybe.
I have had some great issues even though they drop your economy, or maybe give the policy Slavery.

(Edit: please reply what you think about this idea below.)

First, I feel like this thread should be in Technical, since this would be gameside.

Alright, got that out of the way. Okay and... bad idea. Giving people the ability to pick issues is essentially giving them the freedom to max out their stats ridiculously easily. The randomness and time delays between issues is to be fair and ensure that no one grows their stats a t high rates unless that is their focus, and even then it takes some time to do such.

Yeah I agree with you there.

Being able to pick what issues you get would break the concept of issues, much like how being able to pick what cards you get would break the game of Poker.

I think the player should have a way to have a five issue "request pool", and then a random chance to draw from the "request pool" rather than from the big main pool of issues.

Still not a good idea. The admins will never implement any form of system where you can choose your own issues.

Could be a solid idea

Postby Ordivus » Wed Nov 17, 2021 3:49 pm

I’m not sure about choosing your own issues.

Maybe if you could chose from predetermined issues but there would be a limit. Like say, all those issues need to be solved, but only a few of them can be chosen to be dealt with. That way you have to decide what is more important to you and what can be let go of. It gives you more control over your decisions and also places more blame or praise on you if your country is hurt or helped by these issues and their respective choices.

And then the rest of the issues should relate to previous choices or previous issues as well as the state of your economy, freedom, rights, influence, and everything else your ranked on.

Could be a pretty solid idea, I’d say.

Edit: All of the choosable issues that you did not choose should have major consequences. That way, you can’t just max out your stats.

Also, considering that every other similar proposal was rejected. This is very VERY unlikely to be accepted. Probably like a 2% chance.

Yeah, strongly disagree with this idea as part of the fun in answering issues (imo) is that you rarely know (except in the case of certain issues that unlock features like a custom pretitle/national leader/national religion which you get when you hit a certain population) which issues you are going to get.

You can dismiss issues already, so not sure what you are suggesting here...

This already exists in a similar form, they are called issue chains.

Sometimes I just really want to accelerate the recurrence of issues. I would still be playing Polis Diamonil if I could have accelerated the recurrence of one of the civil rights issues that hurt Polis Diamonil.

I don't see how choosing your own issues could be implemented without making it open to abuse.

You can have some control through policies you implement, which then affect the pool of issues that your nation is eligible for.
