1st Annual SACT Opening Classic Flag Tournament
Scholastic Site - Desert Fortress Training Ground,
Moxhuactl, People's Unified Federation
It was here, in the deserts of Northern Mokastana, that the first international tankery tournament would begin. High school students from around the globe had been flown in for this event, and the sporting aspect was clearly growing. Although in a desert on an outdated army base, a grass field was filled with vendors and food trucks from around the world. Each selling their own tank related merchandise. Grass was not native to the Mokan desert, but was artificially added to help cool the fields for visitors. Fans, misters and tents also helped to keep the outside cool, at least until the sun set.
Meanwhile the bulk of the event was housed in the Scholastic Dome, an air conditioned stadium big enough for a regulation football field, with seats all around a main stage. Four televisions hung from the roof, pointing in each direction giving the audience a clear picture no matter where they sat. Flags and banners from various schools were hung up along the outside and inside of the dome. Students sat in anticipation, waiting to see their first opponents in the tournament. On the main stage, the large screens displayed the blank tournament bracket, building anticipation. In the grand announcement ceremony, representatives from each school would be brought up on stage, as the Tournament judges began calling out the names of schools, and who they would go against in the first round. The only rule anyone knew so far was that schools from the same nation would not compete with each other in round one. This would give each country two matches to watch, and a chance to compete internationally for prestige.
Slowly, each match in round one was announced. First called to the stage was the Hurtian school, Kampfenburg Academy, revealed as KAGMA in the first round of the first match. With the representative from KAGMA on the stage, the judge pulled out an envelope with their first competitor. Opening it slowly, they read it silently, before announcing the present students and staff: "Match one will be between, Kampfenburg Armored Girls Military Academy, and.... Yuana Private Primitive Academy Group II". Soon all four matches of the first round were announced in such a way and a bracket was up on the screens for all to see. Since there were eight schools, a secondary bracket was added. Schools who lost once in their first two rounds would get a chance to compete for third place. The SACT leadership figured the extra matches would get more viewers from around the region, and thus more recognition for the sport.
For now, the games were about to begin!
