For custom flags in other formats (PNG, JPEG, GIF), you must choose whether to apply a ripple effect when you upload them. This affects all versions of the flag, and can only be changed later by re-uploading the image.

The current state of play, as per the Create a National Flag page's "Technical Details...", is:SVG flags, including the built-in flags, allow you to toggle a ripple effect on or off at any time via your Settings.
