Cavirfite Sovereign Guard issues new assault rifle.
During the first few months of the Sovereign Guard, the primary firearm was imported from other countries, during which development for a unique rifle were underway. After weeks of research and production, a new rifle has been issued by the Cavirfite Sovereign Guard for all new soldiers; the GP-01 (Gutensprodekdionen Unae)
The GP-01 is a rifle designed to fix the flaws of previous machine gun models used by the Guard and make shots more damaging, the design is a hybrid of carbine and assault rifle elements, and is operated through gas compression but the thing that makes the GP-01 more damaging is the design of its exclusive bullet.
The bullet has 3 instead of 2 components; a shell, the bullet itself, and a compact with a special design. Since most rifles have rifling (thus the name) to prevent the spray of compacted bullets, the speed of bullets have been capped through insignificant extents (at least at the times that such rifle designs were made), however the Guard has noted that such designs within the barrel of a rifle could decrease range and damage, so they found a fix to this problem; they made a compact who's surface is matched to that of the rifling, in this manner; the friction within the gun will decrease, adding speed to the bullet, and braking muzzle fire. Which researchers say will improve the outcome of rapid attacks.
Damage technology isn't the only thing that has been improved through this, the rifle is also lighter than previous models of its kind; rather than aluminum, the GP-01 is made of lithium; the same material as home-use batteries; which decreases the rifle's weight four-fold. Making it easier for soldiers to carry the rifle during expeditions, obviously there's a problem with this; Lithium is flammable which makes it extremely dangerous to carry in hot weather, the manufacturers of the rifle are planning to find a fix for this; they already added fireproof materials to the barrel so that the lithium end of the rifle wouldn't explode should a shot be fired. Despite this, the manufacturer says that the gun will have to go through some additional experimentation before it can be proven truly safe for warfare.
However, basic experiments say that the gun's design is promising, a test has proven that the GP-01 has a firepower of 0.02 Keefer Units, the first ever firearm to reach the 0.10 mark in history with a lower Keefer Unit rating being a sign of greater damage (other equipment that aren't firearms have higher damage rates like aerial bombs with a firepower of 0.01 Keefer Units.), and that a person walking at normal pace could carry the rifle with them for 16 hours before becoming fully exhausted compared to other models that can only be walked for 5. Proving that the design (at its core) is successful.
Considering that it needs additional testing, if the rifle were to have additional safety features, maybe the future of infantry combat could change with it.
