South Newlandian Bid for Campionato Esportiva 31

Should I win this bid, this will be a special Campionato. To celebrate the founding of the Esportivan Union, South Newlandia will host a total of six sporting competitions, to celebrate the sic original founding members of the Union. Alongside a regular Campionato Esportiva, those will be baseball, gridiron football, basketball, ice hockey, and T20 cricket.

South Newlandia is a small island in Esportiva and has about four million inhabitants, making it one of the smallest Esportivan countries. South Newlandia is allowing their citizens and non-citizens a lot of rights and opportunities, except if you want to open a business. Additionally, the government is providing lots of funds for the environment, healthcare and education, thanks to high taxes, especially on rich people. Most of the inhabitants are atheist, but everyone is free to follow their own religion, as long as it is not harmful to other people in the country. The climate is usually fairly warm, but not too hot, and weather extremes are rare. One thing to note are the anti-drug laws in South Newlandia, banning the sale of all drugs, including alcohol and nicotine, while consumption and import remains legalThe biggest cities in South Newlandia are Elephant Valley near the West coast, also the capital, Newport on the East coast, Walstreim near the Southeast coast, and Ratzupalfu near the centre of the country. Football remains the most important sport in South Newlandia with the country recently qualifying for World Cups 87 and 88, as well as having hosted the 28th Campionato Esportiva and World Cup 89; South Newlandia also has a strong top 10 in the multiverse baseball team, and is growing their presence in gridiron football. Basketball, cricket and ice hockey are niche sports.

Format:
Due to the complexity of the bid, I cannot currently go into detail about formats; however, I can guarantee that there will be no more than 8 total matchdays, and all six finals will be on the same day.
For the Campionato Esportiva, a single round robin and a single-elimination bracket will be used.

Scorination:
All sports will be scorinated using xkoranate. For football, NSFS and xkor modifiers will be used, for baseball, I will use the adjusted NSFS formula, gridiron football will be scored using the post-WBXXXI formula, basketball will use the regular built-in formula, ice hockey will use the modified formula most recently used in WCoH43, developed by Kelssek, and T20 cricket will use the modified formula by Liventia and Super Overs.

So, how is this going to work:
If you’re only interested in a regular Campionato Esportiva and no other sports, that is perfectly possible. Should this bid win, I will extend the signup period a few days for people to sign up for additional sports. You can also sign up for some sports and not participate in football. Everything is possible on that front.

Roleplays:
All Roleplays will count for all the sports you participate in, regardless of them being mentioned, with one exception: You will only be able have your RP Bonus counted for a sport if you also rostered for that sport. It’s possible to put multiple rosters in the same post. Rosters will also be counted as Bonus for the sport they’re for.

Rankings:
While the regular CE ranks will be used as usual, for the other sports, the WBC/WB/WCoH/IBC/T20 rankings will be used (as far as they’re available) – however, those will be heavily watered down. I haven’t decided on exact figures yet, but the highest ranked team in each sport will get less than 3 MD’s of full bonus as their ranking.

Hosting experience:
In football, I have hosted World Cup 89 (w/ Tikariot), Campionato Esportiva 28, and I have been scorinating the CEdC with The Grearish Union for the past four editions.
In baseball, I have hosted WBC51 and IBS12 (each with Tikariot).
I have also hosted the first edition of the Elephant Chess Cup, and am currently hosting it’s second edition.

This is my most ambitious project so far. I think I can do it.

Four is my absolute minimum. I am fairly confident we can reach that for every sport, and of course, more are always better.

I'm not inherently opposed to it, but I'm just not certain that we need to expand the CE to include other sports. I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to tournaments running alongside the CE, but this level of integration doesn't feel right to me and I can't really explain why. For the purpose of me actually finishing this with a question rather than just being a grumpy old man, what benefit do you think it brings to link these tournaments together?

First of all, this is not meant as an expansion of the CE or anything long-term. I don't expect this to be a feature that returns in future editions. The benefits are different ICly and OOCly - ICly, it gives us a special edition to celebrate the Esportivan Union, promoting Esportiva and how we have more than one sport here. OOCly, as you can already see above our posts, it allows non-football nations to get involved with Esportivan sports, which I think is a good idea. It's also a low-stakes option for people to try out sports they wouldn't usually enter. The Campionato Esportiva will remain the biggest part of this, ICly and OOCly, even if that got lost in the bid a little. However, we get a bunch of optional stuff on top. Everyone can still choose to have a "normal" Campionato if they want to without anything changing for them.
