Where are you from?

Postby LoFi Banana » Tue Oct 12, 2021 1:49 pm

Where are you from? What is it like there?

I was born in Monterey, California and lived in nearby Seaside until I was 7. I remember the part of California I lived in having very comfortable weather most of the year, lots of foggy mornings, nice beaches, woods, hills, and mountains overlooking the town. It was very beautiful.

When I was 7, we moved to my current state of New Jersey. New Jersey is the butt of a lot of jokes and many people seem to think it is just collection of urban sprawls, industrial zones, and superfund sites. I think New Jersey is actually pretty beautiful. We have nice beaches and if you go out into the state's countryside you will see some nice meadows, forests, lakes, and hills. Northern New Jersey (where I live) even has mountains and waterfalls. We aren't called the Garden State for nothing! The only downside to living here (for me, anyway) is that we get all four seasons full blast. Summers are hot and humid while winters are freezing cold with lots of ice and snow.

Next month we are moving to Texas. From what I have read, Texas is a very big state with a large variety of natural scenery. The town we are moving to is located in the Texas Hill Country, which I am told has hills, waterfalls, and looks amazing during spring when the bluebonnets bloom. Sadly, it seems that Texas summers are supposed to be worse than New Jersey summers and the state loses electricity during cold temperatures.

I am from North Dakota. Beautiful state with vast grassy plains, forests, rolling hills, mesas, and mountains. Lots of bison, too. I was born and raised here.

That poll is pretty Anglosphere-centric.

Born in Northern California, lived here all my life aside from two years on the East Coast.

Living in Florida now, and I don't see what's so bad around here.

Again, I was born and lived in Maracaibo, Venezuela for 27 years, so it's not like I have high standards.

Coming from California, me and my parents had pretty high standards I guess, but I love it in New Jersey.

All of you Anglos have high-as-hell standards. It's something I've learnt by slumming it amongst you all. Guess it comes with the territory when you live in a place that has running water and continuous electricity unless God goes insane.

Also, from these days Joisey huh? Are you walkin' over 'ere pal?

Currently, Western New York. It's decent, a very easy place to live, cheap rent, 15 minutes to get anywhere by car, all the amenities of a big city without the problems. It's basically America's short bus, if you can't make it here, you can't make it anywhere. Ordinarily, we have low temperatures approaching freezing by now, but summer seems to be hanging around.
In the past, I've logged in and posted regularly from 7 US states, the province Ontario, and the country Morocco.
Wait an hour, and it will be now again

I'm from Herefordshire. It's an English county full of practically nothing except sheep, cider mills and ridiculous Welsh & West Country accents.

That said, I live in a middle class market town which is rather pleasant, and has a lot of lovely hills around it which are good for walking.

By the way, the whole thing is a joke on the stereotypical NJ accent from Mafia movies.

I have lived here in NJ for 8 years now and have never heard anyone (young or old) talk to like that. Also, I am not much of a mafia movie fan.
