I want to know what an editor thinks of my NFL CTE idea in whether or not it's basically too similar to 415 or whether it opens up a new angle.

Well, it all depends on how you write it. Personally, I'd say that your idea would work best as a follow-up to #415. For example, if nations banned the sport in schools, maybe journalists suddenly unearth some sort of concussion cover-up in the professional league, despite their claims of robust safety protocols. As long as the options are distinct from #415, it could work.

Keep in mind that this particular issue can be received by nations that have banned pro sports. A follow-up wouldn't make sense for those nations if the whole premise requires you to have pro sports. For that reason, we would need to make some adjustments to #415 so that it would work with a follow-up. I wouldn't mind doing that, if someone wrote a compelling issue.

A follow-up to 415 was in the back of my mind for a while, but it never came up until now. I mean, there definitely have been issues that you only receive if you answer a certain option without requiring that policy, so making that requirement with "must answer option 2 on Issue 415" I think would be feasible.

Not as fa as I know: If there are then they would have been drafted & introduced at some stage between late March 2020 & the middle of May 2021, when I was inactive here, so you need to check only the issues from that period.

I assume you mean the issue "Home is Where the Lung is" which is the closest premise to that.

There's also 'The Government and CO' [title correct?], which has some overlap with this concept.

Maybe search up your premise before asking more, but why would they pertain to national matters? You have to take into account national importance if you can make it an issue.

Assuming you are interested in the aspect of it where the captain departed prior to the complete evacuation of the ship, that does exist - Issue #1078 (Down With That?) covers the topic.

If you have another part of that disaster in mind, go ahead and specify and we can see what comes up!

I was thinking of the company lawsuit, and how this can be done within NS.

I'm very much enjoying one of the issue chains. I ran this nation obviously a bit differently, so this time I've accidentally started a nuclear war. Thanks again, and more chains/connected issues please.

Edit: Taught me that Nuclear War is winnable.

I'm familiar with the criminal proceedings related to the Costa Concordia, but not with associated lawsuits. Unless somebody is familiar enough to comment on them, I'd say it's worth starting a draft thread and seeing what shakes out.

Just read on a clickbait article how misting vegetables in grocery stores "actually makes them spoil faster", to which my thought was "HUH? But nobody does that."

I mean, in the UK, nobody does that.

Is this actually a thing in other countries? Is it just a US phenomenon? Thinking it might make an interesting issue.

Are there any issues about any of the following things:
People using VPNs (if the internet is banned or heavily censored in the country)
Political satire being too biased/irreverent
People stealing catalytic converters off of cars

I'm in the mood to denigrate a whole new group of people... which means it's time for an issue idea!

Do we have anything on smokers taking more work breaks than non-smokers ("Workplace Fairness Goes Up in Smoke")? It's a pretty contentious issue (some don't believe it exists, some want non-smokers to get more time off to balance things, some even believe it's a good thing), yet I can't find anything myself in Val's thread.

Oh that is an interesting idea, and you can add that a non-smoker wants to become a smoker (or pretends to be a smoker) just to get extra breaks. I know an episode of Family Guy where Peter becomes a smoker simply to take more breaks.

In the US, it's quite common to have full water misting systems installed above refrigerated vegetable displays, on an automatic timer to mist them regularly. I believe the idea is that it makes the veg look fresh and shiny, and thus more appealing to shoppers. Never seen it on un-refrigerated stuff, but others might know more.

I'm not aware of issues related specifically to the use of VPNs to bypass government firewalls. This probably wouldn't work for a "no internet" nation, as people wouldn't even have access to a VPN, but it could be fun for nations that allow internet, but have heavy censorship and the "State Press" policy. That would definitely make sense.

Scrappers stealing metals from cars, wiring from homes, etc sounds familiar, but I don't know of a specific example of that in circulation.

We have multiple issues about satire hitting too close to home: 46, 99, and 966 all would be relevant comparisons.

This sounds super familiar, could have sworn I've seen this around, but I can't figure out where. If this issue doesn't exist, it definitely should. Definitely a source of major workplace tension in some offices. Similar real world arguments existing regarding coffee/tea breaks, bathroom breaks, and things like parents getting preferential treatment compared to non-parents.
