Yes, welcome to Mont-Sanguine for the 4th edition of the Carrelie Melodifestival. It's most unfortunate that the Haufenburg Broadcasting Group could not host, but we're sure this edition will still be quite the party. Here are the 10 acts!

Candelaria 94

Postby Achaean Republic » Sun Oct 03, 2021 5:50 pm

With 1.6 million citizens, Candelaria is the Achaean Republic’s second-largest city in the Achaean Republic after Corola, the country’s largest inland city, the capital of the state of Arapaima, the seat of the Primate of the Achaean Republic, and the nation’s first capital city. Since its foundation in 1561 as Villa Real de Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria by settlers coming from the Canary Islands, the patron saint of the Achaean Republic and the eternal symbol of the nation, the city has served as the spiritual heartland of the country from its colonial times to independence. Within its borders, several battles for independence have been fought here, including the signing of the Declaration of Independence on February 2, 1789 to the Battle of the Lake where the Revolutionary Army was forced to a defeat—but later had its vengeance in the Second Battle of the Lake, which became a defining moment in the struggle for independence. It also served as one of the Federal Army’s headquarters during the Achaean Civil War that reasserted federalism in the nation and paved the way for the emancipation of slaves.

The recently renovated Coliseo Polideportivo Fernando “Caneta” Gutiérrez (Fernando “Caneta” Gutiérrez Multisport Coliseum), also known as El Coliseo Fueguero (“The Fire-People Coliseum”) after the Achaean Basketball League’s Llamas de Candelaria, is the city’s largest indoor arena and the venue that will host the 94th World Hit Festival. Built in 1979 and renovated in 1994 and 2021, the arena has hosted numerous rallies, concerts, sport events, graduations near the University of Candelaria and Arapaima Junior College, several Miss Acaya pageants and many more cultural events in the city.

While the arena holds up to 18,000 in concert settings, the venue will have a reduced capacity of 14,000 due to COVID-19 security protocols, stage/green room settings, and adjustments for press workers.

Opting to create a new complex staging structure for a much more fluid entertainment experience, AS1 teamed up with Corola-based Nexo Arquitectos once more (the creators of the WorldVision 76 stage) and crafted a fluid stage that incorporates the newest trends in creativity, architecture, and technology. First, the stage uses a very limited LED wall that centers at the top of the stage below the revolving circle; instead, semi-transparent projection screens circle around the stage and can be used for different presentations for each performance. Also, the arena being split in half with a revolving platform (the revolutions can be adjusted—or not used at all—depending on each delegation’s aim). In addition, twelve circular drones are elevated within each camera that can be manipulated to each delegation’s content. The on-the-round stage feature is also complemented by the addition of two B-stage catwalks where the contestants can also perform, surrounded by the audience—and the green room beside them.

Of Indo-Trinidadian and Achaean descent, Arjun Rakesh Sepúlvedahas been tapped to become the sole host of the 94th WorldVision Song Contest. A lifelong candelariense, Sepúlveda competed in Mister Acaya 2016 and served as a model for global companies like Yves Saint Laurent, Coach and Guess. He is also one of the regional ambassadors for DirecTV Latin America, an entrepreneur and an influencer with over 3.1 million Instagram and 1.5 million TikTok followers, respectively. In the past, Sepúlveda has hosted previous WorldVision events, including a stint at WorldVision: La Final, the Achaean national selection for its WorldVision representative.

Each postcard design will reflect the contest’s theme, It Burns Inside You. Sponsored by the Achaean Republic Department of Tourism, performers will travel across the Achaean Republic and explore a passion burning inside them over a single word about the things fire can do. We use fire for cleaning. We use fire for cooking. We use fire for smelting. Fire is important for life, for a nation bound by it.

WORLDVISION SONG CONTEST 94

MRX Television would like to invite you back to celebrate the 94th WorldVision Song Contest in Thatcher City, the sprawling metropolis that is the capital, and indeed the capitol, of Mister X. The contest will be simplistic, and is designed to be a throwback to a better era: the 1990s. Yes, it's WorldVision 1994. This is, of course, not the first time Mister X will have hosted the contest, having hosted in WorldVision 34, WorldVision 59, and WorldVision 77, but we think WorldVision 94 will be a major upgrade on our three very successful previous hostings. This will be the 11th time we have bid to host the contest, the first since WV77, and, hopefully, it is our best bid to date.

THATCHER CITY

Thatcher City is the oldest city in Mister X and is also the capital. Thatcher City can guarantee you a fantastic view across a fantastic river, especially at night, where every night people come together to party the night away after a long hard day's work. People are, generally speaking, able to do whatever they like, all with a stunning backdrop of the Heath river, which serves to make sure that Thatcher City has some of the cleanest natural water supply in all of Mister X. "But how do I get around?", I hear you ask. Well, fear not, for Thatcher City has, thanks to the transport budget, built its own metro system, enabling you to get to anywhere within one hour. Specifically, the map has been designed so the shortest route between any two stations will be no less than one hour in duration, but we won't blame you if you take a detour, there's so much to see and do! The trains are also automatic and have all been fitted with the necessary safety precautions and air conditioning. Some people come together to hold regular competitions to see who can do the entire network in the quickest time. At night, Thatcher City comes alive. Thatcher City never sleeps, from working hard in the day, they then spend their massive wages amongst Thatcher City's nightclubs and bars. Thatcher City's night time economy accounts for a vast amount of Mister Xian GDP. This sprawling metropolis is the perfect backdrop for WorldVision 1994. Thatcher City has seen many changes. Today, it's a bustling hive of all sorts of activities and cities, with nightclub attendances up 50,000% since WorldVision 34. In WorldVision 34, there were fields around the outskirts of the city, but such is the pace of development that it's perhaps better to say that nowadays, the outskirts are factories, whereas the middle is all fields. We're keen to grow our own crops and create an export-led economy, and Thatcher City is the epitomisation of globalisation. Thatcher City has always been peacefully radical. In 2001, they returned a TRP (The Right Party) candidate, saying they didn't like him very much, and could they please have another one. As the law of the land says, if the sheep lie down, it's because they're dead.

THE STAGE

Image

The stage, as in WV77, has been designed by the traditional Mister Xian spokesperson, The Doctor. Our stage is unlike anything that MRX Television has ever used before. Whilst the stage may look simplistic in nature, it is, in fact, one giant seamless video wall, so that the wall curves around and is also the floor. We also have a mini-stage for the participants to travel into and use if they so wish, and furthermore, as you can see, the green room is in the middle of the auditorium, so participants can interact with the performances.

GRAPHICS

Image

The graphics for WorldVision Song Contest 94 are deliberately designed to be a throwback to a better time, the 1990s, and are simplistic, but effective, and will stand the test of time. Moreover, the postcards, as with all Mister X hostings, will be placed directly in the thread, rather than linked to.

Additionally, we are intending to use a three-colour system, which you can see above. Yellow at the start, blue when their jury has voted, and then white when they've received their televotes.

(OOC: They are based on graphics used by Formula One. They were so good that they were used for 10 years - 1994 to 2003!)

VIEWER INTERACTIVITY

Image

As per some successful usages in the past, MRX Television plans to make the graphics set available to everyone to provide their votes for WorldVision 94, downloadable in a .zip file with the official WorldVision 94 fonts. Furthermore, for the very first time, we hope to release the televote results as a long-form video, rather than spamming the forum every 3 minutes. The video will get a full "premiere" function on YouTube, so you can't spoil the ending when everyone is watching it!

This is ambitious, but we have always been at the cutting edge of technology, and pride ourselves on our sleek-looking graphic designs.

Image

How it will look in the IC thread as the index of entrants.

That concludes our host bid for WorldVision 94! Vote for Mister X!

"Carry On" to be the Estogian song at WV94...

THE BIG REVEAL: ESTOGIUM

GRVTY x KIERA to represent Estogium at the 94th WorldVision Song Contest with "Carry On"...

Image

With Estogium's failed attempt to participate in the 92nd and 93rd WorldVision Song Contest, RVC have been able to confirm that the country will be back with the song "Carry On" - a project by DJ GRVTY and singer KIERA...

Estogium is soon to become the nation that has sent the most entries to the WorldVision Song Contest without a win. While that may sound bad, the Estogians still have had some success at the contest, placing in the top five on multiple occasions - and coming two points from the win back at the 48th contest. Though, with Estogium's patchy participation surely adding to the nation's recent bad form at the contest, they are hoping that a positive result at the 94th WorldVision will be able to lift spirits amongst the team in RVC that handles the Estogian delegation and they're hoping to do this through GRVTY x KIERA. For Estogium, this style of music isn't necessarily new - with the country sending the likes of Joel Kingstone and Ronen Bellegarde sending rather EDM-y sounding songs, with the latter of the two having the most successful nationally and across the ABEN Union. For Estogium, Ronen's song one of the country's best placings ever since the introduction of the televote 12 editions ago and they are hoping that Estogium will be able to top the table at the 94th edition.

Sample of the lyrics...
Carry on, don’t stop no, carry on
One-two step, we’re vibing until sunrise
Carry on, don’t stop grinding, not now (ah, oh)
Rum and coke, a double to forget the stress...

GRVTY is a DJ and songwriter from Darlington - the capital city of Estogium. GRVTY usually works with artists from across the Union to come up with EDM hits that are played in nightclubs and with this song "Carry On", he wanted this song to not only serve its purpose as the entry for the WorldVision Song Contest but he wanted it to last and be a popular song that people, especially young people would recognise if they were to go out and hit the clubs. He wanted to target the younger demographic, which is why he went with Brito-Achaean singer, KIERA. KIERA, real name Katalia Ira Emilia Raventos, is a 25-year-old singer who was born in Orongumilá. As a child, her family moved to Britonisea where she went to school and was introduced to singing. When speaking about her life she says, "I think that I've had the love for singing in my blood since I was very young - passed down from my parents. I love doing a wide mixture of different songs; both English and Spanish. I am a big fan of Acaya and being part of the contest one edition after the Republic won is amazing - hopefully I can follow suit!" When asked about how she felt about representing Estogium despite her roots being from Achaean Republic and Britonisea, she said that "It was an offer that I just couldn't refuse. Estogium is a great country and they've streamed my songs in the past loads - I hope I can do Estogium proud!"

The contest is due to start on Saturday 6th November and so far we've had two bids: one from Mister X and the other from KIERA's home country Achaean Republic.

Daniel Ghant to represent Britonisea at the upcoming WorldVision Song Contest (BITC) with "Since Day One"

LISTEN TO "SINCE DAY ONE" HERE

Daniel Ghant is a 37-year-old from Luton who will represent the country with his song, "Since Day One" which sings about a memory that he had when he was a teenager with his recently-late mother and the time when he decided to move away from home. You learn about Daniel through the song; about his family life - or, well, the lack of it. Daniel's song is a heartfelt orchestral ballad with country elements and when performed on television for the first time today where he used minimalistic elements but really showed the beauty of what he was singing about. He said that these are the elements that he will bring to the stage for the 94th WorldVision Song Contest.

OFFICIAL BID FOR WorldVision Song Contest 94 | MARINA POINT, NEKONI
Image
Bienvenue à tous...faisons le encore...pour de vrai cette fois!

The night. A vast black sea of nothing. Our ancestors used to be scared of it, afraid that when it came, they wouldn't be able to see the incoming jaguar about to rip their face off. Night is a misunderstood creature. It's not a thing to be feared or worried about. In fact, it's the time when Nekoni wakes up. Whilst the picturesque beachfronts of the Second City of Nekoni are a sight to behold in the day, they become phenomenal at night, all swept up in a mass of vibrant neon straight out of the 1980s. What better place, then for the WorldVision circus to roll in? Because after all, in Nekoni: We Are The Night.

We've been to Nekoni twice before in the contest. Our first foray was in the nation's capital in '64. Today, though, the entry comes from its second city, Marina Point. You loved it last time at WorldVision 80, but for those who haven't seen it for themselves, why is Marina Point the jewel in the crown of our country?

THE CITY
Image

The second largest city in Nekoni, Marina Point is home to a solid 1.2 million people, Running along the Canera sea to the country's northwest, Point Marine (as the locals call it) is home to two very distinct sides. The old town, nestled right in the centre of the city, is a cultural labyrinth, with its miles of cobbled streets hiding delicious food, craft stores and art houses wherever you may roam. The area was first designated as an area of cultural significance in 1986, and as part of a decades-long program to acknowledge its cultural heritage, it was fully pedestrianised in 2009 (to counteract the pollution that the once-standing motor racing circuit created just out of town), and with the weather seemingly being that much nicer on the coast, one could be forgiven for taking a quick stroll and accidentally making an entire day out of it.

The main city surrounding it, however, is as modern as they come. As a thriving port city for so many centuries, Mariners have been able to spend their wages on a massive array of amenities, especially along the star of the show: La Grande Plage - a 3-and-a-half kilometre stretch of pure white sandy beach along the sea. Whether your thing is a family attraction, an extreme-sport adventure, a party hotspot or an oasis of pure relaxation, you can be sure that there's some part of the beach just made for you. In fact, every year, conveniently when the WorldVision typically rolls around, there is the week long beachfront festival, Party Sur La Plage continuing long into the night. Of course, in modern times, the beach has been waiting for a party for over a year thanks to THE EVENT, so they're more than willing to bring the event forward, and show the world just what it can do, one more time.

In fact, the area itself along the waterfront is absolutely the 1980s in a nutshell. As you drive along the Canera Expressway, taking in the city's first glimpses of the peaches and pinks of its beachfront cafés and hotels, it's hard to think you've entered through a wormhole and arrived in Miami Vice. The subcultures around the streets are as diverse and vibrant as they were back in the day, with street skaters, breakdancers and surfers all making this place their home to ply their crafts. And, of course, once the night falls, out comes the real Marina Point. A paradise of neon out in the summer heat, with vibrant nightclubs, bumping music, all out on the streets and everywhere you look. There are parts of the beach along the Prime Boardwalk that never see the sun set, with the cute decor of the strip in the daylight being replaced by a grand spectacle of sights, smells, and everything in between. Wanna quadbike the beach to thumping techno with a BBQ shrimp skewer in one hand? You can do that here, and that's barely scratching the surface.

THE ARENA
As before, we head to the second city's premier arena, the NEXPRO Arena. Until 2016, it was the home of Nekonian motorsport, with its International Circuit greeting the global sporting elite, but now, Canera City Studios takes its place. The internationally renowned media metropolis is well known for providing world-class TV and film, but its greatest asset is the Arena. 21,000 strong, a small increase thanks to some clever space expansion, what it may lack in numbers compared to its contemporaries, it makes up for with ambition.

Image

As you may know, with us running the WorldVision Song Contest before, Nekonian design enjoys its simplicity. Of course, we tried simplicity before, and you know where that ended up. Presenting, our stage:

Image

Isn't that pretty? Yes. Yes it is. And, you can't continue the rather unfair joke that Nekoni stage designers only have protractors that measured 90-degree angles. The centerpiece is a huge triangular screen, adorned by several movable lights that can create a dazzling tunnel, inspired by the high-speed neon blur of driving down Marina Point's strip at night. This can, naturally, be moved, coloured, directed and faded at the entrant's will. Would you like a wide, dim set up to envelop the entire arena in a warm, winter log-cabin-esque feel? Would you like a massive spotlight, directly illuminating your soloist at center stage? We can do all of that, and more.

Image

The main floor consists of both an upper and lower area. As you can see, performers will get the choice of either having the top floor closer to the giant video wall, or the larger, lower area. The back wall can be moved forward to completely fill the space of the top floor, as well. Additionally, all surfaces, including stairs, can be independently coloured or themed, as all have LCD-screen technology, protected by a shatter-proof composite surface. Naturally, all mod cons that are expected with a modern show, such as wind machines, fire, pyro and water, are available at the performer's disposal.

Image
(Don't worry, it's not going to look THIS busy on the video walls come showtime!)

Just to hammer the neon stylings home, the green room will have one hell of a glowup. With a design based on the legendary Orange Lounge nightclub of Marina Point's mid-1980s heyday, we felt it was only right to have an open bar area around the green room. After all, the contestants have put their hearts on the line for their nations, why shouldn't they be allowed to have a nice champagne or two? The video walls adorning the outer walls of the room are, for the contest, going to be softer, with a purple, blue and pink hued setup like the contest logo, with certain walls occasionally providing updates to score boards, video link-up to the main stage, and the like.

Prospective appearance of postcard and scoreboard, using data from mid-way through WorldVision 92, because we're going to milk that victory until its teats start physically screaming. (Also on the night we'll actually spell Carrelie's name properly. Whoopsie.)

Rest assured, users that enter will not be required to submit additional information with their entries.

And so, thus concludes our presentation. We hope you decide upon visiting Nekoni for the latest edition of the WorldVision Song Contest! We hope to have shown you that we can capture the magic of the contest again in our wonderful city, and as always, façonner l'avenir en Pointe Marine!
