Overview

Sylestone is a tropical island nation located in the far west of Esportiva, southwest of Cyborg Holland and north of the S.U.S Islands. The nation itself is home to roughly 30 million residents, made up of humans, the famed Sentient Objects of Kirkham, and even wild elves and sentient animals. The nation is one of the prime tourist destinations in the entirety of Esportiva, with a huge variety of attractions, including world-class beaches, rainforests, reefs, and even deserts. You can not forget Felton Island, located a couple of hours by ferry off the coast of Chamberley, where everywhere you look, there is something amazing to be seen in the island’s dense rainforest. Sylestone is also well-known for its efficient public transport system, with interconnecting railroad tracks and metro systems in all major cities, making the train the most predominant way of getting around for the majority of the population. Cars may not be banned at all, but they are rarely used and when they are, they are fuelled singularly by electric power. The economy is run by the tourism industry, as alluded to above, although the dairy industry is also significant in size, alongside others. Everything in the nation is run by renewable power, with massive solar and wind farms located in the grasslands of the island nation.

The humans of Sylestone are typically friendly, but are always looking for a way to pull a secret little prank on you. Many are unafraid and rush headlong into things, but most have a cautious side to them, too, although nigh on everyone is determined. For Sentient Objects, they may be slightly more reserved, but once you get to know them, they are certainly a joy to be around. The legal drinking age in Sylestone is 18.

Sylestone’s official classification may be a “Stone”, but in reality, that pretitle is basically synonymous with “Republic”. The nation’s president is a literal refrigerator, but I haven’t been bothered to do any more political stuff about it but everything else is surprisingly unknown.

The national animal of Sylestone is the Margaret; a human-like, hooded creature that is found sparingly across all parts of the island. Many sports players like to pray to the animal before they take the field, a superstition of which is universally renowned to give you good luck. Whether this is true or not remains questionable, but it certainly seems to somehow work, along with burning an amount of the national currency, the Rubber Chicken. This is another superstition many elite Sylestonean athletes insist on carrying out, and the amount of money burned depends on how vital the win must be. Fortunately, no one has gone broke just yet by doing this, but it’s only a matter of time.

Sylestone is roughly 700,000 km square and generally takes about 15-20 hours to travel by car from Dunkirk in the northwest to Kirkham in the southeast. However, it will only take two if travelling by aeroplane and ten if catching a train. A physical map of Sylestone will be found below and we hope you enjoy your stay in paradise.

Dangers

Sylestone may be beautiful, but like many tropical countries, it is not without its dangers. The nation is full of snakes, spiders, jellyfish, big cats and many other deadly predators. Also watch the Mwimbi Bimbi fruit that will kill if touched, let alone swallowed. It looks like an ordinary plum but with thorns on the stem. Remember to watch out for elves in the Melville Rainforest surrounding Emacuton and Chamberley, they will kill anyone who seems to cause disunity. And whatever you do, do not offend the sentient objects of Kirkham…

Q&A about the Sentient Objects of Kirkham

Q: How do the ovens cook their food?
A: Easy. All they need to do is get someone or something to put the food inside them (many have mechanical arms, etc.), and then they themselves can choose how to cook that food.

Q: Do the refrigerators own refrigerators themselves?
A: No. Duh.

Q: How do they reproduce?
A: Hmm, good question. In order for reproduction to occur, you need two Toilets, or two Fridges, or two whatever. Those two Objects then do stuff (which varies depending on the type), and the result is another Sentient Object!

Q: Do toilets need the toilet like humans do?
A: No. They’re toilets for a reason.

Q: Can a human own a Sentient Object or vice versa?
A: Do NOT even think about it. Sentient Objects and humans live on equal footing in Sylestone, and it is a huge crime to own one of the opposite… culture.

Q: How do Sentient Objects feel about non-sentient objects?
A: They laugh at them because they’re lesser beings. Well, not even beings at all, really.

Q: What happens if there is a power outage?
A: All Sentient Objects run on their own electricity (if they need it), so nothing.

Q: If you unplug an appliance and then plug it back in, is it a persistent conscious state?
A: See above answer.

Q: Is it torture to keep a broken Sentient Object operational?
A: When a Sentient Object breaks, it sometimes dies. Fortunately, this happens very rarely and when it does, the treatment is usually very quick.

Q: Is there intra-sentient racism?
A: No. All Sentient Objects live on equal footing.

Q: How do they see?
A: They have big googly eyes that help them see.

Q: What happens if you slowly exchange parts between Sentient Objects until they’re completely switched?
A: This cannot happen, it is physically impossible.

Q: Are there organs?
A: Yes. Sentient Objects have a brain-like organ somewhere in their body, which makes them sentient.

Q: Do Sentient Objects have brains?
A: Yes, see above.

Q: If a Sentient Object dies, do organ transplants occur?
A: Only if a Sentient Object of the same type requires a new brain-like organ.

Q: Do Sentient Objects feel pain?
A: Yes, although only in extreme circumstances.

Q: Does Sentient Object crime occur often?
A: Exceeding rarely, but it is not unheard of.

Q: What classic literature do Sentient Objects prefer? Do they admire the Mona Lisa or the Apple Lisa?
A: Er, depends on the Sentient Object, I guess.

Q: How do Sentient Objects walk around?
A: Depends. Many bounce around, but those that are lucky enough to have legs use them.

Q: How were the Sentient Objects created?
A: Ah, good question. So basically, no one knows. At one point in history following the colonisation of Sylestone, a big band of Sentient Objects decided to combine together for whatever reason and cast a “forgetfulness” spell on everyone in the nation, including themselves. It means that Sylestonean history is rich and thick going back 500 years, but no longer, as no one remembers what happened before then. This event is known as the Big Forget.

Q: How do strip clubs work in Kirkham?
A: Not even going to bother answering this, with respect to the inner Quebecois in all of us.

The ground is home to Capital FC, two-time winner of the Toilet League, with that simple fact making the ground prestigious in itself. Avondale is a wonderful city, with an amazing zoo and some beautiful beaches. Being the capital, it is rich in history so the museums in the city centre may appeal, too. Maybe even the parliament house, which is more interesting than the “norm.” Enjoy your stay!

The Bay Reserve, Betham
Capacity: 68,420
Location: Inner South Betham
Domestic Home Ground: Betham FC
About: Despite being Sylestone’s third-largest city after Chamberley and Avondale, the relatively small stadium that is Betham’s football stadium easily houses the local supporters due to Betham being not exactly sport-oriented. The stadium has a beautiful view out over Betham Bay, where the water is a pristine turquoise blue, enticing each and every individual for a cool swim. The city itself is located at the edge of a large tropical rainforest and is situated on the Charon River, running down from the Cable Alps in eastern Sylestone. It is only a few hours’ drive from Kirkham, too.
Allocated Group Stage Games:

Sentient Oval, Kirkham
Capacity: 29,275 toilet seats
Location: Kirkham City
Domestic Home Ground: Kirkham Appliances
About: Kirkham, situated on the southeast corner of the island nation, is universally renowned for its Sentient Objects that inhabit the city. Its 60,000 residents are all classified as Sentient Objects, and the city is guarded by a big, Sentient tower, that watches over anyone who enters. However, travelling here brings you no worries, as the inhabitants are generally very welcoming to foreigners. The stadium itself is new and was only made when Sylestone entered the 72nd edition of the Baptism of Fire. Its most recent update is to change the chairs to toilet seats, back before the 78th Cup of Harmony.
Allocated Group Stage Games:
Yuezhou - New Lusitania (MD1)
Chartistan - The Licentian Isles (MD1)
Jeruselem - Hapilopper (MD1)
Nyowani Kitara - Sendhang (MD4)
Geisenfried - Flavovespia (MD4)
Saint Eleanor - Adab (MD5)

The Trees, Pesfield
Capacity: 62,000
Location: East Pesfield
Domestic Home Ground: Pesfield Trees FC
About: Located in the treetop city of Pesfield, The Trees is a rare feature located on the ground. Surrounded by trees that are home to over a million people, it is an out-of-this-world city, with people bustling past each other on highways in the sky, with homes built onto the tree branches - a child’s dream come true. With trees even splattered at random intervals inside the stadium itself, it’s one of those places that you have to see with your own eyes to truly believe it.
Allocated Group Stage Games:
New Lusitania - Sylestone (MD2)
Ottoman Syldavia - Chartistan (MD2)
Trolleborg - Jeruselem (MD2)
Sendhang - Yuezhou (MD5)

Carson Stadium, Cleorough
Capacity: 80,000
Location: Inner East Cleorough
Domestic Home Ground: Cleorough FC
About: Sylestone’s newest stadium, the Carson Stadium was built as a replacement of the 30,000 seater that was the old Carson Stadium. It was constructed for the 78th Cup of Harmony and has been in use ever since. The city itself is surprisingly unknown to the wider world, but is home to some of Sylestone’s most beautiful reefs, making for excellent snorkelling and scuba diving. The city is the fourth-largest in Sylestone, home to a little under three million people, only behind Avondale, Chamberley and Betham.
Allocated Group Stage Games:
Poafmersia - Sargossa (MD1)
Savigliane - Flavovespia (MD1)
Nyowani Kitara - Yuezhou (MD2)
Flavovespia - Hispinas (MD3)
The Licentian Isles - Ottoman Syldavia (MD5)

Sunlife Stadium, Halpenley
Capacity: 52,000
Location: South Halpenley
Domestic Home Ground: Halpenley City FC
About: Located in the middle of the Sylestonean desert, Halpenley is extremely hot during the day and usually extremely cold at night. There is almost no in-between and the fans and players will find a lot of discomfort out of this. Halpenley is located on a river and an oasis, which was the source of water in ages gone by. The city is home to 1.5 million inhabitants, living in the extremes. It will be tough for those playing there and remember your sunscreen!
Allocated Group Stage Games:
Eraman - Adab (MD2)
Banija - Eraman (MD3)
Chartistan - Poafmersia (MD4)
Trolleborg - Bollonich (MD5)

Ground of Dunkirk, Dunkirk
Capacity: 43,000
Location: West Dunkirk
Domestic Home Ground: Dunkirk Athletic
About: Dunkirk, located halfway between Avondale and Chamberley, is on the edge of the Melville Rainforest but is home to the main platform of the agriculture industry. The surrounding grasslands are home to lots and lots of brown and black tiger snakes, which you must be wary of when exploring. The ground itself has been upgraded once, adding 10,000 new seats before Sylestone’s previous Cup of Harmony six years ago. The city is home to roughly 750,000 people, making it the seventh largest in the nation, behind Avondale, Chamberley, Betham, Cleorough, Halpenley and Pesfield.
Allocated Group Stage Games:
Bollonich - Hapilopper (MD4)
Savigliane - Geisenfried (MD3)
Adab - Banija (MD4)

Fiery Stadium, Dodle
Capacity: 37,500
Location: Dodle City
Domestic Home Ground: Dodle FC
About: Having only hosted two international games, one each in the World Cup 88 and World Cup 89 Qualifiers, Fiery Stadium has been put under the spotlight as one of the 12 grounds in play for Sylestone’s side of the 81st Cup of Harmony. While it is unlikely that it will get too many games, considering the prestige of some of the other stadia, the local football fans in this city will be eager to get to as many games as possible. Dodle itself is located on the eastern edge of the Cable Alps and is situated on the shores of Lake Acondo, a beautiful swimming lake for the 350,000 inhabitants of the city.
Allocated Group Stage Games:
The Licentian Isles - Poafmersia (MD2)
Yuezhou - Sylestone (MD4)
Hapilopper - Sarzonia (MD5)

Stadium of the Glorious Sentient Objects
Capacity: 15,000
Location: North Kirkham
Domestic Home Ground: Kirkham Sentients
About: The second-most prestigious stadium in the city of Kirkham, the Stadium of the Glorious Sentient Objects has only ever played host to one international game - a 3-1 loss to a strong South Newlandia side, making it the tenth ground in Sylestonean football history to host a game. While it may not have the toilet seats that Sentient Oval has recently installed, it still has a brilliant atmosphere, with Sentient Objects providing entertainment at the half-time break with their stunning dance moves (don’t ask, you’ll figure it out yourself).
Allocated Group Stage Games:
New Lusitania - Nyowani Kitara (MD5)
Flavovespia - Sharktail (MD5)

Kitchener Stadium, Avondale
Capacity: 65,000
Location: Inner West Avondale
Domestic Home Ground: Avondale City FC
About: The second-most prestigious footballing stadium in Avondale, behind the Avondale International Sports Stadium, Kitchener Stadium is a nice, large ground located right on the Malburd River, running through the city. It can seat up to 65,000 people, making it one of the larger stadiums in the nation, but due to the presence of the AISS, has never hosted an international football match. The sea breeze rushing in may not be optimal for some players, but the scent is definitely there despite being a fair few kilometres from the ocean.
Allocated Group Stage Games:
Adab - Saltstead (MD1)
Sargossa - Chartistan (MD5)

Walgabba Dome, Kirton
Capacity: 39,000
Location: Kirton City
Domestic Home Ground: Mid-Capital
About: Named after the indigenous Sylestonean name for the area, Walgabba Dome is located in the heart of Kirton (not to be confused with Kirkham), the city that lies between Cleorough and Avondale in the Capital State. The city is home to roughly 500,000 residents and is home to some of the best beaches and reefs in all of Sylestone, if not Esportiva. With the city being located on the coastline, it is only a few minutes by train to the beaches, where spectators can enjoy the equatorial sunshine while wallowing in the turquoise water, as well as participate in games such as beach cricket or even beach football.
Allocated Group Stage Games:
Jeruselem - Bollonich (MD3)
Saltstead - Eraman (MD5)

Knockout matches will come as the tournament progresses, most likely aligned with the previous results. The stadium for each game has been determined by Random Organisation Of Sylestone (ROOS), so the fact that some have lots on a particular matchday is completely their fault.

If you would like more information, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.

Welcome to Zwangzug! We look forward to welcoming your teams and fans. Click for giant map!

Please do not cause permanent harm to my characters or in my country without asking me first.

-Things to know: Zwangzug is a large and diverse nation with lots of silly chess allusions. (In more recent times we have branched out and now feature allusions to other board games.) Currently, our economy is under the control of well-intentioned but questionably-competent robots. Probably the easiest thing for foreigners is to get a temporary "ID card" and link that to a debit account; this will help you pay for groceries, restaurants, etc.

There are no automobiles allowed in the country, but a very extensive network of inter- and intra-city train transit will be able to get you to the stadium on time (hopefully). Many drugs popular in other countries are prohibited also, however, if you claim a religious exemption for their use, you can probably get away with a lot!

Group F (West)

Spenson: Its vast suburbs were the home of the space program after the modern country was created (which was a relatively recent event--because of this, there isn't a strong sense of "national" identity beyond sports). The home stadium is the Stelladome, an older structure but with lots of modern screens. (Technically, it is located in the nearby suburb of Fulpog, but that's still part of the Spenson area.) Fans will be curious as to how capitalism, and space travel, work in other countries. Their favorite board game is Hearts.

MD1: Mertagne vs. Savojarna
MD2: Savojarna vs. Vilita
MD3: Vilita vs. Eshialand
MD4: Eshialand vs. Juvencus
MD5: Juvencus vs. Mertagne

Guariday: this is located amid a sprawling temperate rainforest. Look for fans in treehouses being smug about the importance of environmentalism. They also love to cheer talented defenders and goalkeepers. The home stadium is Janaki Gardens. Their favorite board game is Sheriff of Nottingham.

MD1: Vilita vs. Juvencus
MD2: Eshialand vs. Mertagne
MD3: Juvencus vs. Savojarna
MD4: Mertagne vs. Vilita
MD5: Savojarna vs. Eshialand

Group G (FTC)

For silly musical-related reasons (don't ask), Zwangzug's two largest cities grew next to each other. The west side is traditionally known as "Merano"; fans are snooty and consider themselves cultured. The east side is traditionally known as "Bangkok"; fans are prone to rioting and making incomprehensible math puns. However, it's more common these days to just refer to the entire area as "the FTC" ("fraternal twin cities"). Their favorite board game is Mafia/Werewolf.

West stadium: Eglantine Park

MD1: Oberour Ar Moro vs. Siovanija and Teusland
MD2: Siovanija and Teusland vs. Schima Bas
MD3: Schima Bas vs. Pluvia and the Saxean Isles
MD4: Pluvia and the Saxean Isles vs. Geektopia
MD5: Geektopia vs. Oberour Ar Moro

East stadium: Palloci Pagoda Park

MD1: Schima Bas vs. Geektopia
MD2: Pluvia and the Saxean Isles vs. Oberour Ar Moro
MD3: Geektopia vs. Siovanija and Teusland
MD4: Oberour Ar Moro vs. Schima Bas
MD5: Siovanija and Teusland vs. Pluvia and the Saxean Isles

Group H (North-Central)

102d: A city known for being on the cutting edge of trendy innovations. Their home stadium is Simplex 3, which they share with the University of 102d; the pep band can occasionally be seen leading pep rallies or pulling complicated pranks. Their favorite board game is Scrabble, which isn't very trendy, except when literal zebras are involved.

MD1: Le Choix vs. Huayramarca
MD2: Huayramarca vs. Lathamford
MD3: Lathamford vs. Valladares
MD4: Valladares vs. Independent Athletes from Quebec
MD5: Independent Athletes from Quebec vs. Le Choix

Cham: Although the city of Cham does not have a professional baseball team, and Zwangzug as a whole doesn't have any other professional leagues, that has not stopped the enterprising team owners from building a large multi-sports arena, Stabb Field, with the intent that its courts not in use for sports games should be free and open to the public. Unfortunately, this being Zwangzug, you are as likely to see mad scientists conducting dubious experiments in the "free and open" spaces as you are anyone playing basketball, rugby, or other less-popular sports. Cham is home to a large population of German speakers, and the city's favorite board game is Star Realms.

MD1: Lathamford vs. Independent Athletes from Quebec
MD2: Valladares vs. Le Choix
MD3: Independent Athletes from Quebec vs. Huayramarca
MD4: Le Choix vs. Lathamford
MD5: Huayramarca vs. Valladares

Group I (Southeast)

Bassabook: somewhat of a more socially- and religiously-conservative area than the country as a whole. There's a famous fountain in a downtown plaza that's a fun tourist site. Fans tend to enjoy singing complicated chants along with the matches. Their home stadium is Pacific Field. Their favorite board game is Bananagrams.

MD1: Indusse vs. Squornshelan Remnant States
MD2: Squornshelan Remnant States vs. Britonisea
MD3: Britonisea vs. Zeta Reka and Hügeltaldom
MD4: Zeta Reka and Hügeltaldom vs. Barunia
MD5: Barunia vs. Indusse

Forbridge: located near the Deep Blue Lake. This is the home of the AIU (Artificial Intelligence University) which produces many robots, economic and otherwise. Legend has it that Zwangzug's national football team began here, after one student hit another in the head with a Frisbee and they decided they needed better sports. This was also the headquarters of the original football association until it was bulldozed to put in a new train station. The stadium is called the Eagles Club; there's not a professional team based there, but the national team got the right to build a stadium of that name after winning the "Eagles' Cup" tournament.

MD1: Britonisea vs. Barunia
MD2: Zeta Reka and Hügeltaldom vs. Indusse
MD3: Barunia vs. Squornshelan Remnant States
MD4: Indusse vs. Britonisea
MD5: Squornshelan Remnant States vs. Zeta Reka and Hügeltaldom

Group J (Northwest)

Twineur: somewhat of a college town. Fans have a good sense of humor, but look down on time-wasters. The home stadium is the Bug House (home of the Bugs). Their favorite board game is Fuse.

MD1: TJUN-ia vs. Atheara
MD2: Atheara vs. Darmen
MD3: Darmen vs. Milchama

Wayr Stadium: Take the monorail from Outrive, in the middle of the Rackham Range, until you get to this mountainous stadium. Despite the lack of urban area, this was the national team's main home for many years. If you stare even farther up the mountains you can make out their old practice facility from back in the "thirties" of the World Cup. During the World Cup 85 cycle, four members of the Rovers United club passed away after the team collectively risked their lives to stop a deadly virus from spreading; a small memorial to them can be found near the upper-deck stands. (Zwangzugians aren't big on memorials, but even they are occasionally willing to make exceptions.)

We have a lot more information in our factbook: see here for these and other cities, and feel free to poke around here or here if you're bored. Otherwise, enjoy your stay!

Sarzonia Stars

Note: Home kits have a primarily navy colour scheme; away kits are primarily white; keeper kits are green. Kits designed by Starblaydia

=================================
If my opponent RP's first, they have permission to do the following:
Style: 1.75
Formation: 4-4-2
Choose My Goalscorers: Y
Godmod Goalscoring Events: Y (stuff like deciding who scores a PK, who passes to whom and how the goal's scored is cool. Weird shit is not.)
Injure Players: N
Godmod Injury Events: N
Red Card Players: Y (no more than one more than you do for your own team)
Yellow Card Players: Y (same rule as red cards)
Godmod Other Events: N
=================================

Manager: Nathan Hanifer
The former manager of Sarzonia's Under 21 national team, Hanifer was the other finalist for the Stars managerial role. He assumed the assistancy at the request of Mentes and was named interim manager after Mentes was fired.
Assistant Manager: Eric Dent
Dent will serve as a de facto defensive coordinator for the Stars, and will work primarily with the defence and the defensive midfielders.
Assistant Manager: Brady Reynolds
Reynolds comes back to the Stars as an assistant manager after serving as a colour analyst. He played for the Stars from qualifying for World Cups 84-86 and World Cup 88.

HOME GROUND: Dave Wilson Stadium, Woodstock (105,690 capacity, natural grass field); alternate home ground i Joe Gibbs Stadium in Woodstock (75,900 capacity)

Roster (Starters in bold)

GOALKEEPERS
1 Carlton Sandt, 22, 6-foot-3, 215 pounds (Lakiska SC, Banijan Soccer League)
Sandt is the younger brother of legendary Stars goalkeeper Horace Sandt. He won the starting job for the Wanderers as a true freshman and led a previously downtrodden side to the national semifinals. He has catlike reflexes and is quick off his line. Can get too aggressive.
33 Trent Woodson, 27, 5-foot-11, 170 pounds (Saugerties Snakes)
Woodson becomes the backup while Paolo Gomes is recovering from a torn ACL. He has a decent mix of size and agility.

DEFENDERS
4 Charlie King, 28, 5-foot-11, 155 pounds (Saugerties Snakes)
King plays as a defensive-oriented fullback, often marking the opposing team's top striker. He relies more on positioning and reading his opponent's tendencies and body language to figure out where to run than on speed. He's not exactly a burner.
5 Tommy Benignati, 32, 6-foot-2, 200 pounds (Wilmington FC)
The older brother of Marco Beningnati, Tommy plays a much more rugged style than Marco does. Can play sweeper in a three-back lineup.
7 Matt Taylor, 27, 6-feet, 185 pounds (Burlington Browns)
Taylor's speed lends itself to being a fullback, but he plays halfback for the Browns. He has a tendency to struggle with more physical forwards and offensive midfielders.
6 John Taylor, 22, 5-foot-10, 175 pounds, Portsmouth University
The younger twin brother of Under 21 national team player Carlette Taylor, John plays a similar style to his sister's, although with much more speed.
18 Ben Russell, 33, 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, Rochester Renegades
In his first season as team captain of the Renegades, he led the team to a Sarzonian Football Confederation championship, resulting in the team's promotion to the Cyanea League. If he's on the pitch in the event Howard gets subbed for, he will don the captain's armband. He is a reserve halfback for the Stars.
22 Carmela Bowen, 30, 5-foot-8, 145 pounds, Woodstock Justice
Brown plays fullback for the Justice, a Sarzonian women's football team, and typically marks whomever the playmaking midfielder is. Her stamina earned her a spot on the national team.
44 Pat Meyers, 24, 5-foot-8, 152 pounds, unaffiliated
Meyers won a lawsuit against the Portland Timbers third division affiliate when the team dismissed them after successfully proving the club released them due to their gender non-conforming status

MIDFIELDERS
8 Ernie Mabree, 28, 5-foot-10, 175 pounds (FC Corcorran)
Mabree has one of the better left-booted shots in the Sarzonian league structure and is one of the fastest players in Sarzonia. He'll play an important role in Sarzonia's offence.
10 Clayton Wilson, 23, 5-foot-10, 170 pounds, (Woodstock Wild) Captain
A grandson of legendary Stars forward Brian Wilson and great-grandson of coach Dave Wilson, Clayton is not just a fourth generation star among the Stars, he served as the playmaker for the Under 21 Stars and is a sterling wing player on the Wild.
18 Carlos dos Santos, 27, 5-foot-11, 175 pounds (Woodstock Wild)
A right wing player, he will sometimes be called upon to take free kicks if Reynolds is unable to for some reason.
23 Jaxon Hennepin, 28, 5-foot-7, 155 pounds (Wilmington FC)
Hennepin earned a starting role as a playmaking midfielder for WIlmington, but also played half a season in defensive midfield when the team was beset with injuries.
30 Erik Swann, 25, 5-foot-11, 175 pounds (Portland Timbers)
Swann's strength is being a late-match offensive substitute who can score in a pinch.
14 Winnie Taunton, 27, 5-foot-9, 150 pounds
Taunton takes a majority of the penalties on the women's national team and produces blinding speed on the wings.

FORWARDS
11 Cayden Aguirre, 34, 5-foot-10, 170 pounds (Nicksia Knights)
Aguirre is the creative forward on the squad with an ability to pinch hit as a playmaking midfielder in late-match situations in the event of defensive-minded substitutions.
21 Jake Campos, 23 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, (Portland Timbers)
Campos is a straight up target player in the front line. His leaping ability makes him a prime candidate for headers in the box off corner kicks and indirect free kicks. He played on the Junior Stars team that competed in the most recent AOCAF.
19 Holly Cambrio, 28, 5-foot-7, 145 pounds (Woodstock Justice)
Cambrio adds flair and ball movement skill and the ability to serve as a sparkplug off the bench, but would be a starter for a women's national team if that competition got resurrected.
41 Carly Wilcox, 22, 5-foot-11, 175 pounds (Woodstock Wild reserves)
Wilcox retained her place on the Wild's reserve squad and made eight appearances and six starts after her transition.
First WCC Grand Slam Champion
NSWC Hall of Fame Inductee (post-World Cup 25)

The Eshialand Soccer Federation
Roster for Cup of Harmony 81
Image

What was World Cup 89 Qualifying? Well, it was certainly a surprise. One year after their abysmal 5-4-9 debut, they surprised even themselves by going 9-3-6 in a group that had Polkopia and Baker Park in it. Now, they enter the Cup of Harmony, another tournament where they had a surprise showing last year, going 2-0-1 and becoming the only team to win their group with negative goal differential. What lies ahead for them in the next edition of the Cup? Time will only tell...

First international: Aut-Ves-Nat 1-3 Eshialand (BoF 75)
Best win: Eshialand 5-0 The Jovannic (WCQ 89)
Worst loss/Most goals against: Eshialand 1-5 Sendhang (WCQ 88), Abanhfleft 5-1 Eshialand (CoH 80)
Most goals for: Eshialand 5-1 Qzvarkian Qaz (pre-CoH 80), Eshialand 5-0 The Jovannic (WCQ 89), Eshialand 5-3 Kiltoch (WCQ 89)
Highest-scoring match: Squornshelan Remnant States 4-4 Eshialand (WCQ 88), Eshialand 4-4 Felinetopia (IAC 13), Eshialand 5-3 Kiltoch (WCQ 89)

TEAM HAPILOPPER
Full Nation Name: The Dominion of Hapilopper
Trigramme: HAP
Nickname: The Haps
Team Colors: Blue, Green and White

Info:
It is a new beginning, alright. Team Hapilopper came out of nowhere to make a run at the semifinals of the most recent AOCAF before getting knocked off in one of the greatest matches ever played, against Banija. Their placing gave Hapiloppians new life. Sure, some will say the AOCAF was depleted because of recent unfortunate political events that have only done more harm than good for everyone involved, but the fact is, it gave Hapiloppians new life and new hope. This team hardly resembles that team that made that semifinal run in the AOCAF, and it resembles even less the team that slogged through multiple poor showings in World Cup qualifiers. Instead, this is a team that is young, hungry, and full of enthusiasm. If anything, it resembles the Team Hapilopper that played and conquered the 70th Baptism of Fire. They're led by one remaining first generation player, the controversial Nathan Ellis, who has evolved from being a homicidal thug to being a leader of men.

Style Mod: +3

Stadium:
Capital Stadium, Hapilopper City, Hapilopper
Built: 1970 | Seating Capacity: 66,025 | Open-Air | Artificial Turf
Image

(Pictured: Capital Stadium in gridiron configuration)
Capital Stadium, Hapilopper's de facto national stadium, is the last of Hapilopper's classic cookie-cutter venues, used for a variety of applications, including the Hapilopper City Nationals baseball team, the Hapilopper National Baseball Team and is the home of Team Hapilopper. As is custom with cookie-cutter stadiums, the park is completely symmetrical and is surrounded by multiple decks of stands, typically filled with screaming fans when the home team is doing well. Back in the 1970s, the HC Nationals, and their vaunted "National Machine" dominated Hapiloppian baseball, and brought over four million fans through the turnstiles on six occasions. Hapiloppian fans have vowed to come to Capital Stadium in force for Team Hapilopper games. Typically, Hapiloppian fans, including the members of the "Traveling Thrashers" supporters group are among the wildest fans in sport, and promise to be exactly that for the World Cup. Expect to see fans dancing along to 1970s funk music, slamming drums as loudly as possible, waving their flags, and throwing streamers for every Hapiloppian goal.

Uniforms:
To be completed

THE PLAYERS:
Image
#1 - BILLY SOLOMON | Goalkeeper | Age: 23 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @billy_solomon | Club: Hap City Highway Patrol
Style of Play: Sweeper Keeper | Speed: Slow | Physicality: Low | Attitude: Intense
Billy Solomon will be the first to tell you that he's a little bit nervous being out there. One of the new breed of Hapiloppian footballers, Solomon is not as well-known as some of his counterparts in Hapiloppian football, and certainly not as famous as his direct predecessor, Cooter Harris. But that's just fine. He's still young, and he's got a bright future ahead of him. He's a highly efficient goalkeeper as well, averaging one goal allowed per 135 minutes of play. Away from the pitch, Solomon is known for sharing uplifting images over social media, with the intention of "leaving a smile on everyone's face, whenever I can. We've got to make this world a better place."

Image
#2 - LEWIS PRYOR | Defenseman/Left Wingback | Age: 22 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @pryor60 | Club: The Soldiers of Hap City
Style of Play: Zone Defense | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Moderate | Attitude: Professional
For two years now, Lewis Pryor has patrolled the backfield of Capital Stadium with frightening precision, being able to stop an offensive effort with tremendous ease. His style of play is seen as "physical without going too far," and while Lewis will take a card or two, that's almost to be expected from him playing defense. Last year, Lewis accrued 11 yellow cards and three red cards - two because of card accumulation and one straight red, and donated money to a local children's hospital for each card received. Lewis said he modeled it off of HTN's highly controversial "They Crash, You Win!" sweepstakes from the Hapiloppian Grand Prix.

Image
#3 - ACE BOONE | Defenseman/Right Wingback | Age: 24 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: (none) | Club: West Hampton Sports Club
Style of Play: Man-To-Man | Speed: Medium-Fast | Physicality: Moderate | Attitude: Antisocial
You remember those annoying jerks in high school that would try to piss you off any chance they got? The one that would make your life miserable, or at least try to, as you tried to get from class to class? Ace Boone most likely patterns himself off of these kinds of people. Hell, he probably was one in high school. These aren't the kind of people that will stuff you into a gym locker or drench you at the water fountain, but they're the ones that are annoying pests, and will say the most obnoxious things to you to try to piss you off. Ace plays man-to-man defense that way, getting right up in the face of a midfielder or a striker. Rumors persist about Boone saying some real obnoxious things to forwards, too, but he's not talking.

Image
#4 - JEROLD DICKMAN | Defenseman/Defensive Sweeper | Age: 20 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @JerryDMan | Club: Hap City Highway Patrol
Style of Play: Zone Defense | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Oh Hell Yes | Attitude: Asshole
The last time Jerold Dickman appeared on an international stage, he was being physically led away from the pitch at Old Club Stadium in Taeshan after starting a bench-clearing brawl between the Hapilopper and Xanneria under-18 squads. Dickman was asked to receive professional help for his actions, and all indications are that, yes, he got the professional help, but since joining the Hapilopper City Highway Patrol team last year, Dickman has started to revert to his old physical style of play. Not on the level of Nathan Ellis's barbarism, but he's getting there. It will be interesting to see how Ellis works with Dickman - will he take the young Dickman under his wing? After all, many suggest that Dickman now is what Nate was when he was 20 years old.

Image
#5 - NATHAN ELLIS | Defenseman/Centerback Stopper | Age: 33 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @NateEllis | Club: Southfell United (Nephara)
Style of Play: Homicidal | Speed: Medium-Fast | Physicality: Oh Hell Yes | Attitude: A Leader of Men
He's the last one left. Nathan Ellis is the final player remaining out of Hapilopper's original team, that team that won the 70th Baptism of Fire in such a dominant manner, that everyone predicted nothing but greatness coming from Hapilopper. And it almost came, but then it didn't. Every other player from that legendary Baptism of Fire squad has either retired, been drummed out of the international team or just plain left. But Nathan Ellis will, and this sounds horrifying, serve as the captain of Team Hapilopper. There's no word on how many years Nate has left, but you just have to think Nate wants to see the inside of a World Cup proper before he retires. He's gone through so much and seen so much that he wished he hadn't seen. And so much that he probably caused himself. One wonders if his age will mellow him out. One would hope so.

Image
#6 - MAVERICK KING | Midfielder | Age: 23 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @MavKing | Club: United Hampton Cities
Style of Play: Defensive | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Heavy | Attitude: Professional
With a name like "Maverick King," you probably have to think he got a lot of attention when he was in school. He probably heard it all the time from his classmates. "You're the Maverick King?" kids would ask. "You look like a fat chump to me!" All the jokes. All the nastiness. And Maverick King wanted to get past it. And then one day he snapped, body-slamming a bully to the ground. A teacher, concerned about what could happen, told Maverick to consider getting into soccer. And so he did, channeling his anger and frustration into soccer, being a better player, and getting in shape. He takes the heckling in stride and channels it to become a better footballer.

Image
#7 - JAMES HUDDLESTON | Midfielder | Age: 24 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: (none) | Club: FC Buckridge
Style of Play: Defensive | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Moderate | Attitude: Determined
So, you know how major sports stars get off a bus and arrive at the stadium with those huge headphones covering their ears? Many listen to all kinds of music. Country music. House music. Rock music. Metal. Rap. Jimmy Huddleston, however, is listening to old radio broadcasts from the HASCAR Radio Network, which does the radio coverage of the HASCAR Challenge Cup stock car racing series in Hapilopper, as well as the Super Skychief 500 NSSCRA race. Jimmy's father, Greg, is the chief announcer for the network, and has been for over 25 years. Jimmy Huddleston could be listening to last year's Super Skychief 500 and the bone-chilling call of Drake Stevenson chasing down Kai Qiang. Jimmy says it gets him in the right frame of mind to play ball, and to play his brand of defensive football. And there's few players in Hapilopper that can play the midfield like Jimmy Huddleston can.

Image
#8 - WILLIAM ALTENBERRY | Midfielder | Age: 22 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @William_Altenberry | Club: Pinkerton City SC
Style of Play: Offensive | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Heavy | Attitude: Friendly
William Altenberry has already said he's a Pinkerton lifer. Born and raised in Pinkerton, a smaller town on the southern part of Hapilopper, Altenberry enjoys playing in front of those he has known his entire life. Teachers, school friends, his youth group at church, his relatives - ALL the relatives, Altenberry enjoys going out there, jockeying for position against his opponents and occasionally scoring goals that he'll invariably dedicated to his high school sweetheart, Ashley. How sweet. But there's a different side of Altenberry on the pitch that his very friendly nature belies. Altenberry can - and will - get into card trouble as he fights for the ball. Not on the level of, say, Nate Ellis or Jerold Dickman, but he'll go for it.

Image
#9 - HERB NORTHROP | Midfielder | Age: 22 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @herb_northrop | Club: FC Buckridge
Style of Play: Offensive | Speed: Medium-Fast | Physicality: Normal | Attitude: Professional
Herbert Northrop, one of many, many players from Hapilopper's infamous Sporting World Cup teams, is one of the most spiritual members of a Hapiloppian football team that has existed. A graduate of Southland Christian Academy in Buckridge, Northrop makes sure to say a prayer before he hits the pitch, and when he scores a goal, he drops to one knee and says a prayer to the Good Lord Above for allowing him to score a goal. You won't see Northrop pulling off cheap shots like Jerold Dickman, and you won't see him attempting to end someone's career (or life) like Nathan Ellis. That's not what he does. Instead, he tries to play as professionally as he can, as cleanly as he can, as effectively as he can. And his style is quite effective, leading the Hapiloppian League in midfielder goals last year with 12.

Image
#10 - PETER ROBSON | Forward | Age: 22 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @PeteRobson | Club: FC Surrey
Style of Play: Creative | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Low | Attitude: Professional
Pete Robson, one of two forwards for Team Hapilopper, was second in goals last year with 36, leading FC Surrey to second place in the Hapiloppian League, a surprising statistic considering FC Surrey, or sports in Surrey at all for that matter, have been known for their success. In fact, the most noteworthy thing in sport in Surrey lately has been the backlash to a ballpark in the northern Surrey suburbs. Instead of thinking about all of the failures that have plagued sports in Surrey over the years, Pete Robson put his head down and did what he did best - score goals, and he scored a hell of a lot of them. Away from the field, Robson is a key member of a group in Surrey that calls themselves "The Asskickers," a group from Surrey Perimeter College that held some damned spectacular parties in the style of Fernie Fairburn's old parties at that school.

Image
#11 - TOBY BRYSON | Forward | Age: 21 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @tobyb90 | Club: The Soldiers of Hapilopper City
Style of Play: Straightforward | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Low | Attitude: Relaxed
Imagine for a second sitting in Toby Bryson's shoes. You look in your locker and see your name above the number 11, the number that the great Ernie Stevenson wore for so many years for Hapilopper national teams, scoring so many goals, including all of those screamers in the Baptism of Fire. All of those shots in the World Cup Qualifiers. The "Hop Skip Holy Shit" goals. The bicycle kicks. But now Ernie is done playing international football, most likely playing one or two more seasons in Nephara and then he's going home to take care of his new twin children. The door has opened for Toby Bryson to take the showcase position on Team Hapilopper's roster, and he hopes to make the most of it. But imagine, just for a second, sitting in his shoes. He's the one that has replaced Ernie Stevenson. How stressful of a role must THAT be?

Image
#12 - MORRIS JAMISON | Forward | Age: 21 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @jamisonmo | Club: Hap City Highway Patrol
Style of Play: Scrappy | Speed: Fast | Physicality: High | Attitude: Antisocial
Morris Jamison will have you believe that he should be the one in the Ernie Stevenson slot. He should be the one wearing the number 11. After all, he'll be the first to tell you he's scrapped for everything he's ever had. Barely making the team at Conrad Saylor High School, before impressing the coaches enough to make him the lead striker. Riding the bench on the SWC side, before amazing his teammates at the Highway Patrol enough to give him that much more time for the coaches to see him. He's worked for everything he's got and damn it, he's going to make damn sure that Thom Perkins makes him start a match or two. Students at Saylor High arriving by bus in the morning have seen the lights on in the stadium as the sun rises. They'll see Jamison, by himself, practicing pivot moves and long-distance shots on goal. And if that's the case, he's been there all night.

Image
#13 - ELIAS MOON | Forward | Age: 21 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @eliasmoon | Club: The Soldiers of Hapilopper City
Style of Play: Creative | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Low | Attitude: Creative
On the other hand, Elias Moon is just happy to be here. Since barely making the SWC squad a few years ago, Moon has made a living on trying out as many trick shots on goal as he can. He wants to be just like Ernie Stevenson, although without the other parts of Ernie Stevenson. In other words, he's a trick-shot artist and that's it. His videos of trick shots have gone viral on social media, like, most recently, a goal scored from the back of a moving minivan circling around the pitch of Capital Stadium, a stunt that impressed both Hapiloppian fans and angered the Hapilopper National Baseball Team after it led to some damage to the artificial turf at the stadium. But while his goal scoring is on point, his fundamentals could use some work, and that's why he's riding the bench.

#20 - KERRY SPALDING | Midfielder | Age: 22 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @k-spalding | Club: Raceway FC
Style of Play: Offensive | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Rough | Attitude: Moron
Veteran observers will tell you that a Hapiloppian sports team, it just so seems, just has to have at least one idiot on it. They're a great ball player or race car driver, but they do stupid things. Chris Holmes put an iguana in Kai Qiang's car. Nolan Jefferson stole a bullpen cart and crashed it into a gas station. Kerry Spalding, meanwhile, missed half the season last year after a night of bowling at Sparky's Lanes, a popular bowling alley in Buckridge. While there, Spalding ran down a bowling lane like an idiot and attempted to shoot it from point blank range. Unfortunately, he slipped, fell and landed flat on his face, twisting both of his ankles and breaking his nose. What an idiot. There is a unfortunate belief, and this seems to support it, that Hapiloppian athletes can be the biggest dingbats in international sport.

Image
#21 - PIERS ADCOCK | Midfielder | Age: 20 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: (none) | Club: Peoria FC
Style of Play: Defensive | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Yeah, it's there alright | Attitude: Asshole
What is it about people named "Piers"? Piers Adcock, defensive midfielder for Team Hapilopper, is that kind of player you just want to punch out. Not because he's being stupid, but because it seems like he's so god damn full of himself. He has to look his absolute best, the world has to revolve around him - hell, before a training session leading up to the start of World Cup 89, Piers marched into the locker room and declared "the future of Hapiloppian football has just arrived, and that future is me!" He's lucky Nate Ellis didn't go over and pop him in the mouth. But the point was made. Piers has a very arrogant attitude, even more so for a backup player. When he does get playing time, he'll play as dirty as the rest of them, something that DID get him punched by midfielder Maverick King during a training session. We'll see how this attitude develops.

Image
#22 - RUFUS HARTLEY | Midfielder | Age: 21 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @r-p-hartley | Club: Pinkerton City SC
Style of Play: Offensive | Speed: Fast | Physicality: He's named Rufus, what do you expect | Attitude: Brawler
Just so you know, Rufus Parnell Hartley is a nice guy. He'll be the first donating at church. He tips well at restaurants. He helps at the soup kitchen if needed. But on the field, he's one of those guys that will get into a brawl on the pitch if someone wrongs him. He'll drop a player with the kind of tackle that makes Nathan Ellis wish he had pulled that on Alexis Fotellis. But he'll also score goals if needed, scoring nine last year for Pinkerton. He'll be a dominating presence on the offensive side of the pitch, making other players bend to his will, by force if need be. Away from the pitch, Hartley's family owns dozens of Jane's Diner franchises all around the Pinkerton area, to the point where some have called Hartley "the heir to the all-night diner".

Image
#23 - ORAL ROUNDTREE | Midfielder | Age: 21 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @roundtree25 | Club: United Hampton Cities
Style of Play: Hybrid | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Moderate | Attitude: Professional
So imagine going through life with the name "Oral." Poor Oral's parents had nine months and they came up with Oral. His classmates had a field day with that name. That was, until he started playing football. There's a story that goes around Michael Bell High in North Hampton about how a student in a physical education class had spent the entire day getting on Oral's case about his name, with all of THOSE jokes. Once they got onto the soccer pitch, that student stopped making those jokes. Oral had nutmegged him and made him look like a complete idiot. And that's what he does. He doesn't let the jokes bother him, he just gets the job done and turns the jokers into the jokes like he's always done. He scored five goals for UHC last year and those goals came in some real clutch times, helping the team to fourth place in the Hapiloppian League standings last year.

Image
#24 - PARKER MATHIS | Midfielder | Age: 19 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @HAPFirstDude | Club: West River FC
Style of Play: Defensive | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Heavy | Attitude: Intense
The youngest member of Team Hapilopper could very well be its most controversial. Parker Mathis, you see, is the son of William Mathis, the President of Hapilopper. And oh boy, the claims of "nepotism" and "favoritism" rang out like nothing else. But those that cried the loudest were those that knew the least. While Mathis won't shy away from who his father is, he doesn't play like he was entitled to anything. He's a vicious player that could serve as either a defenseman or a midfielder, depending on where he's needed. And oh yeah, he'll get into card trouble, all right. Last year, surprisingly, in his rookie season, he led the Hapiloppian League in red cards with five, and also led the league in Presidential ass-thrashings, too. Rumor has it that William Mathis himself went down into the West River locker room after a couple of games and ripped his son a new one for playing like a complete douchebag. His teammates aren't talking.

Image
#30 - FABIAN TRELOAR | Defenseman | Age: 21 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @treloar | Club: Pinkerton City SC
Style of Play: Zone Defense | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Not enough | Attitude: Friendly
So, just for one second, close your eyes and picture in your mind the first thing that comes through your mind when we say "Fabian Treloar." What did he look like? The kind of pretty male that appears on the front of those weird-ass romance novels they sell in supermarkets? That would be incorrect. This guy's got a dingy dark mullet, he's a little chubby, and he's far from the kind of person that ladies dream of. He reads comic books and streams video games. On the pitch, though, Fabian can stop an offensive from the middle, and when he does, he does it very efficently. He's not a cheap bastard about it, he's just efficent. If he gets a card, it's by total accident. Many suggest he has a bright future ahead, but it wouldn't hurt him to get a little more physical, a little dirtier, and quite frankly, there's no shame in getting a card or two. In Hapilopper, it's to be expected.

Image
#31 - QUINTIN MONTAGUE | Defenseman | Age: 21 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @q-mont18 | Club: Garvinson Trojans
Style of Play: Man-To-Man | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Moderate | Attitude: Professional
Here's a reader. Quintin Montague is one of the biggest readers in Hapiloppian sport. He'll read anything. He'll read an offensive effort. He'll read the Garvinson Picayune. He'll read the lips of a fan in the 17th row. He'll read all the latest popular novels released in Hapilopper. He'll try to read a midfielder's mind as they're racing down the pitch. And he'll read the playbooks ad nauseam. That's a good attitude to have, and it's a good trait. But what Montague doesn't have is that killer instinct to be a regular starter, at least, not yet. He's been psyched out by opposing players a little too much for Team Hapilopper's liking. Members of the coaching staff are working on this, though. How they're working on it, well, watch this space. It might involve Nathan Ellis and some drill sergeant tactics, which sounds a little frightening on its face.

Image
#32 - ASHLEY STANFORD | Defenseman | Age: 22 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @stanford-the-kicker | Club: Border City United
Style of Play: Zone Defense | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Oh Hell Yeah | Attitude: Ruthless
The second woman to make it to a Hapilopper national football team, Ashley Stanford is not here to look pretty, nor is she here to make friends with anyone. She's here to kick some ass, and with Border City United last year, she did exactly that, famously breaking the collarbone of UHC striker Shelley Linwood with a cheap shot clothesline as he was on his way to bring a goal into the back of the net. And she didn't give two shits. When asked after the game if she had any remorse for breaking his collarbone, her response was simple: "I'm not paid to think about that. He shouldn't have come up to goal. My job is to stop him." With that kind of attitude, it's wondered if she'll take the Nate Ellis role after he retires from play, whenever that is.

Image
#33 - LEVI BATESON | Defenseman | Age: 20 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @levi_bateson | Club: West Hampton Sports Club
Style of Play: Man-To-Man | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Sufficient | Attitude: Relaxed
Known more for his prowess on the saxophone than his prowess on the pitch, Levi Bateson nevertheless gets by with his play for the West Hampton Sports Club, which, before you get any ideas, is more than enough to stop an offensive effort if need be. Some suggest that Bateson's style of play is a throwback to the pre-World Cup days, when Hapiloppian footballers would play a more relaxed style of football. That's not a compliment. It's removed from the hair-on-fire, balls-to-the-wall style of play that has developed since Hapilopper started playing international football. Either way, he's still good at it, good enough to make the national team. As for his saxophone prowess, it's magnificent. Bateson plays for a band that tours across the Hampton Cities, and his saxophone solos are among the most popular parts of their concerts.

Image
#60 - KENNY SHELLEY | Goalkeeper | Age: 21 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: (none) | Club: FC Surrey
Style of Play: Roving Keeper | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Low | Attitude: Excitable
Kenny Shelley will be the first to tell you that he's not expecting much in the way of playing time. He's a servicable keeper for FC Surrey, but good enough to get an assignment on the national team. He's averaged around 97 minutes per goal allowed, which is good, but not great. Many suggest that his best days are well ahead of him, as with most of the Hapiloppian team. Could he be another Cooter Harris? It's hard to say. At least he has the persona down pat. Shelley drives a 1986 Major pick-up truck, a truck he's had since high school. He's carried everything from lumber to dirt to his girlfriend in the back of that truck, and it's likely he loves that truck more than life itself.

Image
#90 - DUKE STAMP | Goalkeeper | Age: 20 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @stamperHAP | Club: Kingsland Warriors
Style of Play: Traditional | Speed: Slow | Physicality: Low | Attitude: Moron
By now, you've seen the videos by now, or at least, we hope you've seen the videos. Duke Stamp decided one day to try out the concept of automotive buoyancy. So he drove his car as fast as he could into the pool of one of his teammates. The car went right in the pool and proved the theory that automotive buoyancy, for the most part, is total bullshit. Worse, it was a $65,000 Preston Super Skychief that he had just bought off the dealership floor, a car that had 25 miles on it. So Duke Stamp wound up ruining a brand new, very nice car just to try out this idiotic theory that cars can float. On the pitch, Stamp is an efficient goalkeeper, averaging 125 minutes per goal allowed, but he's relegated to keeper no. 3 because of his idiotic behavior.

ATHEARAN NATIONAL TEAM FOR THE CUP OF HARMONY 81

Image

Major OOC Note: This Atheara that is officialy associated with Anaia, has zero recollection on what happened in the past, but will try to maintain the status quo as to what happened pre-WC 89. All official records by the "previous" Atheara, is officially claimed by "this" Atheara, to ensure that no confusion is made. Every memory experienced by these past Athearans are transfered to the Athearans that exist in Anaia, to
ensure that no confusion is made. This majorly means that the "El Recentico" rivalvry with Eshialand is kept.

After a World Cup Qualifying campaign that saw Atheara sadly fell down to third after losing to Valladares on the final matchday, everyone is wondering if and how Atheara would be able to perform better in the Cup of Harmony than last time. In the previous edition, Atheara drew top seed groups Recuecn 0 - 0, lost to Sarzonia 0 - 2 and a humiliation of 4 - 7 by Xanneria, whom last cycle claimed that Atheara won the Baptism of Fire. Will Atheara be able to get out of the group stage alive? No one knows, only time will tell how good Atheara actually is.

Before World Cup Qualifiers.
Through some high debating between the manager and original head coach, it was formerly agreed that Kristian Johansson would be coaching the defense, whyile Lyzen Oddenorf would be coaching the offense. Atheara's lack of goals was quite foreseeable during World Cup 88, and they won't make the same mistake again. Kyle East was put in charge of the physio and Alexei Rugervich was appointed tactician, as both wanted a more active role for the National Team. These were agreeable terms for both staffmen.

Both coach Lyzen and Kristian agreed that they would recall the original starting eleven, but call up players that wouldn't usually make the cut for the National Team. Argued why, it's because that the lack of young blood in the team was showing with the results Atheara has. With a mix of experience and young talent, maybe, just maybe Atheara can perfrom better than the last time they did. Both coaches also decided that they would be keeping the original formation Atheara tends to use, a 4 - 1 - 2 - 1 - 2 Narrow.

All matches on home turf will be played in either Astena Stadium or the Rekozia Arena.

Nation: Montaña Verde
Trigram: MVE
Adjective/demonym: Verdean
Team nickname: Condors

Coach: Serafín Andino Águila (42)
Assistant coach: Pigmalion Perales (40)

Taking over from Enriqueta is Andino Águila. He trades in Enriqueta’s nicotine-stained tracksuits for stiffly starched shirts and her bullish indifference to modern training methods with a holistic attitude incorporating updated approaches to nutrition and spiritual wellness. A former player who was a 5 star prospect at 22 and a 1 star has-been at 26, he drifted out of the game, found God, and reinvented himself as an enthusiastic coach in Calequén’s youth team. His permanent pearly white smile isn’t to everyone’s tastes but his results have been pretty effective since moving to the senior team. Perales, Enriqueta’s assistant, is a former striker whose career ended early through injury, and stays on in the assistant role.

Squad: A squad of 23 players has been named for the tournament. It can generally be assumed the players number 1 – 11 will start, and 12 – 23 be matchday squad reserves, and unnumbered players be back-up reserves, but so long as you’re sensible and unless I’ve RPed otherwise, you can RP my team lineup with some variation.
  • Men and women play together in Montaña Verde. To avoid pronoun confusion, female players are marked in pink.
  • The league is fairly new as a result of restructuring following independence, but many of the clubs date back decades and have entrenched traditions and rivalries.
  • Fútbol is a tremendously popular sport in the country, rivalling Catholicism for the national religion, but limited overseas exposure means the standard is not especially high.
  • Speaking of not being especially high, Montaña Verde is one of the shortest [human] populations in the world. While there are one or two tall players, in general men and women are very short.
  • Players are not egregiously dirty in terms of violence or deliberate fouling, but enjoy a good tactical dive now and then.
  • The bolded name or “nickname” should be used when referring to players and staff.
  • All players are domestic unless otherwise stated. I am really far behind on the Transfer Window this cycle, so if you want to sign one of my players, just send a TG/DM to ask.

Goalkeepers:

1. Rudolf Lazzaro “Dolfo” Mojica Parra (21) – Image Gunzlach
12. Mateo Zayas Chavarría (28) – Scunthorpe de Puyevier
23. Héctor Sergio Dávalos (30) – Calequén

Mateo is an aggressive sweeper-keeper, being willing to play out from his area, having a rather inflated assessment of his own footballing ability. Dávalos is a more traditional stopper who’s been around the domestic circuit for years without standing out for better or worse. Dolfo is lankier than either but very raw. As tall goalkeepers are few and far between in Montaña Verde his ascent has been rapid, but sloppy errors have seen him lose his place. He had an outstanding domestic season in Græntfjall and regained the #1 jersey during the qualifiers following error-strewn performances from Mateo.

Right backs:

2. Roberta Márquez Saldana (26) – Francisco Teixidó
14. Juan Cazzalla Dengra “Zalladen” (24) – Requista Boys

Full backs in Montaña Verde tend to be judged on their attacking credentials first and foremost. Roberta is a converted midfielder and is best playing in a high role as a relentless attacker, driving forward to whip in crosses. A solemn Catholic, she crosses herself after every goal or assist – which she racked up plenty of during the qualifiers. Zalladen is a more orthodox right back.

Left backs:

6. Justin Pedroza Sierra (26) – Image Austin City
16. Juan Diego Lucián Juderías (21) – Sonreté

Justin is one of the best players in the team. His strong left foot has him at left back, but he’s capable of playing anywhere on the field. A skilful dribbler with all the playground tricks, and standing quite a bit taller than his teammates, he seems to tower over everyone except Osito. What tends to let him down is his attitude. He gets into arguments with the opposition, his teammates, the referees, the fans. He’s the living embodiment of “If you get into an argument with someone, they’re an asshole; if you get into arguments with everyone, you’re the asshole”. Juderías is much more of an orthodox left-back, a good defensive prospect with a great work-rate but lacking any of Justin’s pace or flair.

Center backs:

3. Arquímedes Hernández Velásquez (24) – Image Kyethas Rivermen FC
4. Jairo Villegas Balderas (30) – Calequén
13. Alfredo Tafalla (23) – Acharaque
20. Efraim Mariano García (24) – Requista Boys

In terms of footballing ability, the central defender corps is fairly strong relative to the rest of the team, but the main problem is physical. None of them are especially tall. Former captain Edelberto makes way for Arquímedes, who has good distribution skills and can bring the ball out well, while Jairo is a superb timer of tackles and can reliably clear the ball out – if it’s on the ground. If both of them are stacked end on end they’re almost as tall as one average international center forward. Tafalla and Efraim are good, busy workers but quite raw.

Holding midfielders:

5. Ana-Ximena Pareja Carvallo (25) – Image Concord Heights Suburban – Captain
15. Edgar Nieves Liñares (29) – Requista Boys

Neither Ana-Ximena and Edgar are true defensive midfielders, instead more suited to playing more advanced roles, supporting a dynamic midfield set-up. Ana-Ximena isn’t as skilful on the ball as Edgar but has a higher work rate, impressing with her pressing, tackling, and physicality, and winning the start ‘5’ shirt once worn by former coach Enriqueta herself. Tactical shifts could see Edgar getting playing time alongside her anyway, as he’s a better passer.

Wide midfielders:

8. Kristjana Eiríksdóttir (26) – Image Knetyohai
11. Valery Nazaret “Valentinha” Garrido García (23) – Image Northandryun Rovers
18. Sara Ariadna Nazario Alonzo (25) – Image Nowy Orpington United
21. Emma Narváez (25) – Francisco Teixidó

Don’t worry, not getting any puppet strings tangled here: Kristjana is 100% Verdean except for her name, reflecting her background in the tiny minority Græntfjaller population. She plays alongside Valentinha in the center, but they have different roles: she’s more of a speedster and uses her flying pace to whip out to the wings, while Valentinha will tend to drift into more of a central role, distributing and bringing the ball forward to open up rapid attacks. Valentinha is the more physical of the two, and a complex wannabe intellectual off the field to boot. Sara Ariadna is a bit of an enigma, not quite the pace of a striker but not quite the complete skills of a central midfielder, prone to some impulsive actions on and off the field. Emma isn’t as methodical in her passing as Kristjana but has great speed too.

Attacking midfielders:

10. Thomás “Primitivo” Ceballos Cantú (22) – Image Urrheddiao
17. Julia Pastora Rodríguez Varela (27) – América de Santa Margarita de Yacuija

There’s nothing “primitive” about the play of the young midfield general, who this window left Scunthorpe for Urrheddiao. He’s being asked to play a little higher than he would for his club here, but the skilful Primitivo has earned it. Bigger than most of his teammates, his strong physicality can be deceptive as he has a silky touch off both feet. And watch out for his wicked curling strikes if there’s a free-kick in the vicinity of goal. Julia Varela is another very promising player. Small with great speed and balance, she can zig-zag in and out of defenses, but doesn’t put in the hard yards tracking back.

Forwards:

7. Teodosio “Osito” Orellana Cerda (21) – Image St Warren City FC
9. Thiago Rivas Montilla (32) – Image Fliserboding – Vice-captain
19. Naomí Berrocal Encarnación (24) – Image Concord Heights Suburban
22. Verónica Ximena González Saelices (24) – Francisco Teixidó

The young Osito is a huge target man. It’s still not entirely clear he’s not two regular sized Verdeans wearing a trenchcoat. He’s mainly a goal-scorer, not all that good at assisting and rarely tracking back, but an obvious target for crosses and through balls. Thiago Montilla is a more rounded player without a really sharp finishing touch. He floats just behind Osito and just ahead of Primitivo to set up the attacks; he’s very short but powerful and stocky. Naomí Berrocal is a dynamic wing player who can run, pass, and shoot; Verónica Ximena is a fairly versatile 9/10 hybrid who can do a bit of everything without excelling in anything.

Key Characters:

GK Marie-Françoise Benett
With the arrest of Francine Pellier for fraternization, Benett steps into the role of starting keeper for Les Élus, a role that requires much concentration and puts you in tremendous pressure. Coming off a career season, her unique combination of aggression, recognition of flow, reflexes, and cerebral acuity have the Chosen believing she could be as effective as Pellier, if not more. The stage is now hers.

CB Éloi Bouthillier
He may only be twenty-two and barely have four seasons of Ligue Légère under his belt, but he's being heralded by The Chosen media as one of the better defenders in the last decade. With a mean streak in him that results in brutal tackles and a good knowledge of the goings-on on the field, it's no wonder that he's been talked up so much. Possessing a very moldable personality and a willingness to learn, he's going to be the future of The Chosen for years to come.

LM Henry Grant
Henry Grant has been on his third team already in his tenth season for Les Élus, having played for Brillante and Ailes before settling with Étoile. He's good for at least one highlight of a bending goal every season. With The Chosen's 4-5-1, having players that can create scoring opportunities remain of paramount importance, and Grant will be called upon to contribute. He's one of the most vocal of the lot, having connections with both the Grand Bishop of the Church and the Grand Bishop of the Interior. He hasn't used the connections so far, but it'll be interesting to see what happens if the team struggles.

AM Aurélie Dior
Playing the spearhead part of the 4-5-1, Dior will be the other player to try to score the goals for Les Élus. With a quick burst and creativity to boot, she knows when to make a play on the goal and when to pass the ball off. A model citizen that takes the job of sports very seriously, she's a perfectionist who drives herself to live every day as a better example than the day before. With her best days still ahead, she'll continue to be very important for Les Élus. She won the Ballon d'Or the previous season as Brillante lifted the trophy.

ST Gwenaël Cazenave
With Gavin Lavigne being arrested for fraternization, everyone wondered who would be the next striker to play the spearhead of their formation; enter one Gwenaël Cazenave, a dribbler, pacer, and short-range shooter that has an unending motor. His presence will likely work very well with the way that Dior can press with the ball.

CM Élie Rouzet
If The Chosen are behind late, they have the ability to replace one of their center midfielders for Élie Rouzet. She's more of the "Shoot first, ask questions later" type of player with a license to shoot. Thankfully, she's got decent range and a good follow-through.

MG Hélène Monet
The woman in charge that helped Chevaliers win Saison 39 after many seasons of futility, Monet is more of a facilitator than a tactician. With players coming from all the teams of the League coming together, her skills will be needed to put aside their egos and work together as a team.

Saint Eleanor roster: Who could take the field during the 81st Cup of Harmony?
The same team who had the opportunity to do so at the World Cup qualifiers - as Saint Eleanor State Broadcasting's Chief Football Correspondent, Jamie Rodgers, reports
Originally published on Monday 2nd October 1996

Well, that wasn't half bad, was it? There were uncelebrated defeats against Felinetopia and much-feted victories against New Lusitania and the Algarves, but - after accruing 27 points from 18 qualifiers, one of the best performances from any of the teams to have competed in this year's Baptism of Fire - Saint Eleanor have managed to book their places for the 81st Cup of Harmony in Sylestone and Zwangzug. While they might not pull off what Tinhampton, the old country, did in Equestria and Cassadaigua eight years ago, they can certainly have fun, try their luck and hope for the best.

Assistant manager: Lieutenant Stephen Mitcham

Only seven nations besides the Eleanorians, few of whom would be expected to go far in a normal year, have announced their formal intention to compete; at a press conference yesterday, however, manager Priscilla Evans warned that "depending on how everything shakes up in the coming days, we could be playing against Banija, against Poafmersia, Ko-oren, and we really have to be ready to face top opposition if they want to take part in the Cup of Harmony." Whether her warnings of high-quality opposition will bear fruit are yet to be seen - but it can't be argued that she doesn't have a point at this stage.

While some names on the teamsheet are far shakier than others, Evans and Stephen Mitcham have continued to put their trust in the same clan of twenty-three that represented them throughout this year's qualifiers. Does anybody in the country really need to be reminded of who they are? Possibly - you might never know when you need them.

John Bailey (#1) may have conceded 29 in 18 this season, but it proved below-average - and sufficient - for Independence 1975's defence as they stormed to yet another title. Like his goalkeeping teammates, Bailey is generally reluctant to venture further than the six-yard box unless absolutely necessary, but is more open to pushing forward and acting as a defender of last resort when he ever is forced to do so.

Luke Gregory (#2), Harriet Williams' predecessor as Athletic Saint Eleanor captain and now-established starter for Sword and Shield, is still regarded by many observers of domestic football as a decent, traditional left-back. While not as fast as Davies, he can still be relied on to be as physical as necessary and no more to get the ball, as well as to send it forward to Donald (or Parkinson, as necessary).

Exandra Davies (#3) - pronounced "Sandra" - is one of only three players from Good Hope Club, and of five from beyond the Big Four (Independence, Athletic, Army and Navy, and Sword and Shield). She is arguably the most eccentric player in the squad - insisting on eating half a satsuma before every match (the manager might want the other half for herself) and never pulling her socks beyond the top of her shinpads - but can easily take the ball from anyone, by force if necessary, and give it to any of her teammates on a good day.

James Trott (#4), who normally plays as a standard-issue central midfielder for Independence 1975, is expected to drop a bit deeper for the national team. Trott usually seeks to take the ball, whether through tackles and interceptions, before the defenders can be threatened; unlike Paul Ferry and Liam West, however, he seeks to distribute the ball to his midfield partner or perhaps those playing further upfield.

Paul Ferry (#5), Gregory's teammate from Sword and Shield, is the White Stars' hard man, seeking to trouble opposing strikers for as long as possible and willing to go hard - but fair - to stop them scoring. This has apparently not stopped him from contributing "about one in twenty dollars" of his salary to local church projects operating in and around east coastal Saint Eleanor city.

Liam West (#6) captains Independence 1975, Saint Eleanor's greatest club, as well as the country itself. The solid but largely nondescript centreback, more willing to subtly jostle opposing attackers off the ball, if not outright preventing them from having it in the first place, than Ferry - just - has leadership credentials away from football as well, having worked as a floor manager in a corner shop in north-eastern Saint Eleanor city for the past six-and-a-half years with varying degrees of success.

Evan Donald (#7), Army and Navy's first-choice left-winger, is the White Stars' too; he is usually happy to wait on the ball for Gregory to overlap but can also run forward himself if necessary... or desired. Should it be required, he can happily fill in at left-back: in 1993, Aidan Harris was taken out of action for two months after a fractured ankle caused by a harsh tackle from Donald during training.

Harriet Williams (#8), skipper of Independence's great rivals Athletic Saint Eleanor, is expected to balance out Trott's convervatism with a more positive approach, receiving and spraying around passes for the wide midfielders and strikers in the team from open play. Yet as the omnibus setpiece taker for club and country, many will also expect her to sprout or even singlehandedly create significant opportunities from the dead ball.

Katie O'Donnell (#9), finally the season's top scorer in the league for Athletic, hasn't done too badly for the national team either: think back to both of the goals she scored on our visit to Electrum. Despite topping out at 5 feet 9 inches, she arguably has - largely accidental - similarities to her somewhat shorter manager, Priscilla Evans, with her incredible athleticism and willingness to take opportunities that few others on either team notice.

Aidan Harris (#10), who not only captains Army and Navy but is also its only player to serve in the full military, was reportedly added on the insistence of Stephen Mitcham (Evans' assistant and his classmate at the Eleanorian Military Academy). A more stationary - and physical - striker, Harris is domestically infamous for managing to get into the penalty area with sufficient regularity to at least hammer the ball somewhere in front of him. It appears to have worked for him year in, year out.

Jessica Martin (#11), starring out wide for Sword and Shield as well as the national team, could pose a threat to opposing left-backs but cannot keep and control the ball as well as Donald. Martin is also one of the most politically involved players in the Eleanorian squad, having fought for the abolition of VAT on sporting equipment and successfully lobbied the President to enact the ICT Order - which amended the curriculum to require all schoolchildren to be proficient in digital skills such as computer usage - in 1995.

What kit will the players be wearing?

Home: Black shirt, shorts and socks
Away: Blue and yellow diagonally-striped shirt*, yellow shorts and blue socks
Goalkeeper: Green shirt, shorts and socks

Image

*the back side and sleeves of the away shirt are all in yellow
Sam Carter (#12) is the most attack-minded of Independence's contingent to the national team. At thirty, he is already starting to decline - observers have noted that many of his crosses and dribbles last season failed to have a positive impact on the Liberators' play, more than before - and it is unsurprising to all but the most hardened to see Martin start ahead of him.

Georgia Wood (#13), Golden Unicorn's consistently inconsistent goalkeeper, is practically out of contention for the starting lineup after Bailey's decent performances in the Baptism of Fire and qualifiers. Despite voicing concern about the Big Four's aforementioned domination of this roster, she is an otherwise slightly above-average player, the kind the average Eleanorian might want to look up to if they want to have anything less than a significant headache in their playing careers, albeit one hampered by poor performances from her club's outfielders.

John Parkinson (#14), who received the Golden Backpack - awarded for the best footballer in secondary school - in 1991, now starts for Sword and Shield, joining Martin out wide and being similarly energetic. Many, however, have pointed to his relative lack of experience in the Premier League - having made most of his appearances this year and made a few silly mistakes against his fellow lower-half strugglers - which Evans appears to have accepted for the most part.

Alice Christopher (#15) also earned a strong reputation at school but for different reasons, serving as Williams' deputy head girl at the Eleanorian Academy in the 1987 school year. Now with Independence 1975, the pair remain friendly off the pitch yet have developed a sort of rivalry on it, with some observers arguing that the two do play similarly but with Christopher instead playing in the deeper role Trott occupies in this national team.

Laura Brown (#16), centreback by trade and Davies' good friend from Good Hope Club, has earned something of a reputation for avoiding tackles where possible, instead aiming on intercepting passes and then making her own. The expected fielding of Ferry and West ahead of her, however, alongside Harris starting up front appears to suggest that Saint Eleanor will continue to take a more physical approach to defending.

Jack Smith (#17), Good Hope Club's starting striker, must expect to start on the substitutes' bench for most games. Usually happiest playing in a deeper position than most strikers - including O'Donnell and Harris - it is widely suggested that either tactical differences between him and Evans or the relative prolifigacy of the two starting strikers have led to his being largely sidelined.

Luke Elliott (#18), West's centre-back partner at Independence, is not the only Luke who can play in the national team's back four - but he is the much less likely one. Elliott has regularly shown himself to be capable on pressing relatively high for a defender and then going into a position more typical of midfielders, arguably including Trott and Christopher. In this case, his relative versatility may have justified why he is not expected to play a major role.

Steve Pilchard (#19), at eighteen, is the sole teenager in the squad, and the only player who has never known Saint Eleanor as anything but an independent country. This year has proven to be his breakout season with Occidental Olympic, scoring one and assisting another three of their 35 league goals, which - while not as impressive as his pre-professional record - has given him justifiable cause to be upset at his long-running stint on the sidelines.

Grace Bryant (#20), usually a substitute rightback for Army and Navy, will largely be on the bench for the national team too. Some of the more liberally-minded members of Eleanorian society have pointed to the reservist and Lance-Corporal as one of the first (and youngest) women in the national military, it is much more likely that she will be keeping order on the big city's streets when not playing or training, with the police force having virtually never existed as an independent entity.

Paul Johnson (#21) is the only member of this squad not to have been brought up in the capital, which boasts all ten of the Premier League's teams. He instead made his name playing for a representative squad from his hometown of Bishopgate. It was there that he won the somewhat belated attention of Athletic Saint Eleanor's scouts; although he has replaced Gregory as their main leftback, he cannot claim a similar victory on the international stage and arguably has too similar a playing style.

Fred Newton (#22), who (with O'Donnell) is half of Athletic's usual strike partnership, is faster than her but much less technically gifted. Despite arguments as to whether he should be playing alongside or even supplanting Donald or Martin, his relatively high shirt number appears to suggest that he may be called upon as a backup striker; Saint Eleanor still keeps to a fairly traditional shirt-numbering system in most places.

Will Francis (#23) - who conceded a staggering two goals per game for Sword and Shield last season and has not won a single cap - is widely accepted to be making up the numbers for this tournament, supposedly to avoid any ruptures in the squad that may be caused by new goalkeepers being drafted in. Agreement that he will be replaced by a better, and likely newer, model for next year's World Cup qualifiers is similarly high.

Priscilla Evans (the national team manager) is something of a cult figure in her home city of Tinhampton, having almost led it to two World Cups while it had a functional FA before scoring the goal that sent the Miners to the semi-finals of the 73rd Cup of Harmony - which they won - and earning a move to Crystal Fair HC of the Crystal Empire afterwards, becoming the only Tinhamptonian ever to play abroad. Her infamous rant towards healthcare worker and teammate Harry Porter a decade ago had aroused suspicion from critics, but far enough to detract her from her employment - or her job.

Stephen Mitcham (Evans' assistant) is not only a Lieutenant in the Eleanorian Army, but also the 30-year-old son of George, the military general who has ruled the country for more than two decades and has managed to keep control through prudent management of the North Star Oil Company and public reputation as a trustworthy family man. Although some have claimed that his employment could never have arisen without his father's interference in the nomination process, the fact that the Saint Eleanor Football Association appointed - and continues to support - a Tinhamptonian for the top job appears to defy their allegations.

Residents of Saint Eleanor City can watch every Cup of Harmony match live on TV1 and TV2, both of which are arms of Saint Eleanor State Broadcasting. Anybody living in Saint Eleanor can follow CoH 81 on our website, sesb.ex, and on Radio 3. (Sunbeam FM, a privately-owned station, will broadcast all group stage games that are not available on Radio 3.)

Why? George Mitcham, General then and now, cofounded the National Liberation Front in 1971 to demand a free Saint Eleanor. He got his wish in '75 after a 15-month war: becoming President, appointing notable NLF friends and some charity's executive director as VPs and calling them legislators. He has retained power through oil money; zero income tax; free healthcare, schooling, public transport - and markets; tolerating dissent on apolitical matters; allowing private gun ownership (with plenty of training) to protect against future invasions; high-quality PR; and football.

President: Dr. Oscar von Cassbailey Image
Manager: Pedro Menendez-Sutra d'Ame, 41 Image
A bit of a wildcard that rose quickly through the Management ranks, Pedro Menendez-Sutra d'Ame was a player-manager in one of the regional leagues before he was noticed by the Brisara brass. He took charge of the Hammers on a one-year tryout and promptly led them to the Red League, where they stayed for five seasons. His best season in the Red League was the initial year where they surprised everyone by finishing fourth; afterward, they were a consistent midtable team that didn't dip below thirteenth. In the most recent season, though, they slipped up at the last few matchdays and ended up relegated in fifteenth place. As a Manager, he's more of a player's manager who looks to foster relationships and get everyone to play at their highest level. He prefers having active wingers and a striker who predominantly plays in front of everyone else, and his system also relies on having very active defensive backs (right back and left-back).

SQUADRA NAZIONALE DI JUVENCUS

Image

Information about Juvencus:
Capital: Pomena
Population: 130,656,702 ethnic Juven, with a total of 150,048,720 including naturalised immigrants
Demonym: Juven
Country Code: JUE
Football Association: JFA(Juven Football Association)
Nicknames: Gli attaccanti(The attackers), La squadra(The team)
Football philosophy: Football in Juvencus has been traditionally hot and cold for the majority of its history. On the domestic level, most teams played a mostly organised defensively, messy offensively style of football that was not really effective on the international stage. AC Pomena introduced a more offensive system that has dominated the domestic scene since while also producing a number of strong talent. On the international level, AC Pomena's style which is dubbed "il Pomenienze" was brought over to the team by legendary coach August Toset. Il Pomenienze focuses on enhancing the offensive aspect of more defensive teams, either by forgetting the term defense with a high line and creating pressure as well as bombarding the opposing side in hopes of scoring or by keeping a disciplined backline in said high line resistant enough to hold off a lot of attacks, with some effect. More contemporary managers have seen the strengths and flaws in that strategy and have decided on a more balanced approach of effective attacking or counterattacking while maintaining a disciplined and rock-solid high defensive line. This has, over time, progressed to a somewhat more efficient system in the team, both maintaining the advantadges of its defenders, who are usually fast and in place while also putting its high output canonieri in a more beneficial spot in the team and the eyes of the many.

Starting XI:

GK:Taddeo Bulgari(Age 34)(Picgliara Calcio)
Description: Bulgari's career in faraway Togonistan has been a mystery to many. Legends of great leaps and leading the team with or without the captain's badge is what always served the goalkeeper his first team spot in all 11 cycles in the modern history of the country. But truth be told, these legends do hold some truth in them with Bulgari providing some spectacular leaps over the ages.

CB:Carlo Callejon(Age 24)(Wirr TsiImage)
Description: Callejon is quite hot-headed as a person and even more so as a player which leads to him getting in a lot of quarrels with opposing players. Though not a tall or particularly physical player(being 183cm tall), under normal circumstances his positioning, speed and tackling ability have always been the attributes to look out when it comes to him. He has an impressive influence on the team, especially under pressure, with the current championship win at Chromatika under his club Wirr Tsi, his confidence will be at an all-time high which might translate to some exceptional defending for the competition to come.

CB:Pau Puig(Age 21)(AC Serone)
Description: With Bassi's sudden disappearance, Puig is given a starting role. A non-traditional Juven defender, being tall, bulky and relatively slow, although keeping to the perfect positioning scheme of the team, Puig is the brick wall of la squadra and it is almost impossible to get through him, especially in strength and header battles.

CB:Izotz Ibarra(Age 31)(AC Pomena)
Description: The oldest player in the backline, Ibarra will certainly be giving guidance to his teammates as they approach their own peaks. He has all the traits of a traditional Juven defender, those being perfect positioning, speed and incredible tackling ability, however one thing also adds up and this is his vision and expert clearances of the ball. Most of said clearances lead to counter-attacks and/or goals. So in a sense, he is a sort of back-up tempo creator.

CDM:Nino Russo(Age 34)(Hepley UnitedImage)(Second Captain)
Description: The major, yet hidden, playmaker of the team. Russo has always dictated the speed and pace on which the team resume play, whether it is to play possessively or bring a quick counter-attack. His vision, crossing ability and great ball-control have always been staple elements that affected the team's play as a whole. He might be old and enjoying his "retirement" at Sannyamathland, but his contribution is still needed and much required.

CDM:Pierre-Didier Kouyaté(Age 24)(U.S Scudelli)
Description: The half-Banijan mastermind of the team, Kouyaté has always been dubbed as the successor of Russo. Much like him, he might dictate the speed and pace of la squadra's playing, with an excellent vision and brilliant passing ability to show for it. He can also fulfill the duties of a supplementary defender, as he possesses iron lungs and can move freely all around the pitch.

RM:Júlien Cantù(Age 29)(Bul Khungur Miners FCImage)
Description: Cantù has always been the orchistrator of right wing offenses, an accurate passer and pretty decent dribbler, he sticks to the sidelines most of the time. Might give that cheeky unexpected assist from out of nowhere and is surprisingly very adept to scoring for a mid-fielder.

LM:Michelangelo Santini(Age 26)(Baraldhur AFCImage)
Description: When we say Santini is fast, we mean it(people and especially atheletes from Juvencus are naturally faster than the average human or humanoid species). He can run the entire pitch in 9 and a half seconds with no sweat, but what really stands out is essentially his playmaking from the left side, with tons of crosses or through-balls to instigate plenty of attacks and usually delivers a lot of much-needed assists while at it. He might also have a magnet for yellow cards, due to his attitude or due to accidentally kicking opposing players in an effort to drible past them, as his strides are larger than those of the average human.

LF:Joaquim Martell(Age 35)(Ausharmuj MarusiImage)(Captain)
Description: Though old, Martell's goalscoring touch has not really faded, still being able to score all types of goals, from headers, to volleys, to freekicks and penalties, this man can do it all and will always lead the team forward using his masterful experience. Apart from that, he is also exceptional at finding tight holes in opposing defences that he can exploit for the benefit of his teammates, leading to him being involved in most goals the team scores in one way or another. He is also the team's captain and most influential player with his wise words being followed by everyone on the team, especially youngsters.

RF:Patxi Etxeberria(Age 30)(AC Pomena)
Description: While Etxeberria is quite the poacher in AC Pomena, always with the back at goal and in beneficial positions, his playing on international stage is that of a free winger, allowing him to mostly provide rather than score goals. However, when he does score goals, they are always at an important time of the match, whether to get the team to the next stage of a competition or provide a much-needed victory. As the winner of a historic domestic double, Etxeberria's got a strong mentality by his side to carry over in every single game he plays.

CF:Julio Campana(Age 21)(New Lakeland Soccer ClubImage)
Description: Campana is an exceptionally fast learner and an even better goalscorer. His magic touch always has the ball inside the opposing team's net, with them having to pick it up. A strong right foot, he usually scores rockets when it comes to scoring from long distance and usually prefers to use his weaker left foot for chips and close-range shooting, for extra efficacy.

Main Substitutions:

GK:Marchisio De Pesca(Age 26)(AC Picilia)
Description: De Pesca's got leaps for days and incredibly quick, cat-like reflexes, he is the perfect substitution for Bulgari and perhaps might be replacing him occassionally in the coming cycles. A leading and commanding presence on the pitch, AC Picilia's keeper has saved his team in multiple situations where they should have lost, which has deservingly given him the spot in the national team, despite the team's poor performances as a whole.

CB:Sebastian Solano(Age 25)(Odiol Vinceti)
Description: Solano is used to playing in defensive setups due to playing for Vinceti, using his positioning advantadge as well as the extra hidden Odiol Vinceti defensive tricks up his sleeve. Solano is quite big, so most shot-catching is a piece of cake for the keeper who is approaching his peak age.

CB:Leandro Domingues(Age 23)(S.S.C Tipoli)
Description: Domingues has a very strong mindset and a very hard work ethic, which combined for his talent to be anywhere and everywhere at all times makes him a scary defender to play against no matter how good your offensive attributes are.

CDM:Josefina Portieri(Age 21)(TihonImage)
Description: The Tihon super-sub, Josefina Portieri is a very strong presence on the pitch herself, an adept passer and very good at controlling the speed as well as pace on which the game moves. Portieri is a very exciting young talent to watch. Aside from that, she is also a surprisingly good long-distance shooter so changing the tide of the game could easily come from a player of her caliber.

CDM:Félix Sissoko(Age 21)(Kingston FCImage)
Description: When in need, call Sissoko. Sissoko can instigate attacks out of thin air with a simple cross, or just a pass. His vision allows him to be always updated on the game. Though not particularly endurant, he makes up for it by being put in his place and playing his game. His first season in Quebec didn't see his squad clinch any IFCF spots, however he was one of the runner-ups for the U-23 player of the year award due to his exceptional individual imput to the team.

RM:Chimo Quaranta(Age 23)(AC Serone)
Description: Chimo Quaranta is the definition of speed and intelligence, a mirror of Santini, yet probably slightly more intelligent with the ball on his feet and instead of being a faithful crosser, he prefers to keep the ball low while crossing on occassion, with high levels of success.

RM:Simon Oliveira(Age 21)(AC CuttiImage)
Description: Simon Oliveira is very much a nuisance to play against, a swift dribbler, excellent passer with a high chance of raining long-distance attempts at a goal or assist, the Osci side's prospect has potential only few players could ever have.

LM:Lucien Cavallo(Age 24)(AC Pomena)
Description: AC Pomena's midfield maestro, Cavallo is a flexible midfielder, often times switching sides in the midfield in an attempt to find the perfect position to orchistrate an organised attack, with some surprise elements and it works a lot of the time. While not directly scoring or assisting much, his input is of utmost importance as he starts a number of frontline offensives which lead to goals.

LM:Tore Christian(Age 28)(Union JuvenImage)
Description: Christian might be a left midfielder, but he always pushes so far up he might be confused for a winger. Another speedy player and a great goalscorer. At his peak right now, Christian is a scary player.

LF:Martin Rocher(Age 31)(S.S.C Tipoli)
Description: The team's real Osci player, Martin Rocher is a criminally good goalscorer and always terrifying in front of the goal, managing to score in every single way imaginable through every single hole that exists, no matter how small.

LF:Ganymede Garcia(Age 21)(MipojoseonImage)
Description: Garcia is a big game player right off the bat, he will score that one random header or tap-in when you least expect it, however he is a clinical finisher regardless. He is coming off a strong start in Quebec, with a runner-up finish for his team.

RF:Joao Pereyra(Age 22)(BrinemouthImage)
Description: A very technical player, with the ball always stuck on his feet no matter how many people you dump on him. An exceptional dribbler, clinical finisher and a provider. He is a gem, the most complete player and with some adjustments could even be a galactico.

RF:Matias Nespoli(Age 25)(Porcara FC)
Description: Matias Nespoli is an incredible provider, though mostly a balanced, speedy winger with varying levels of importance on the pitch. Terrifice, curved shooting as well as a perfect crossing technique, he is one of the team's most unpredictable players on any given matchday.

CF:Giordano Limene(Age 25)(Stanmorn FCImage)
Description: Limene is on fire, an unstoppable attacking machine that keeps on scoring and scoring with every given opportunity. Despite a long waiting time for his engines to start, when they do start, they do not stop no matter how many walls you will put on that defensive line.

CF:Santo Silvestri(Age 30)(Port Tacassam FCImage)
Description: Silvestri has been the team's main scorer in the frontlines but a recent fall from grace has costed him his position while he tries to regain his strong finishing ability. As he is getting older, that position is getting more and more jeopardized.

Roster comments & tactics:
Truth be told, in the times Madeiros was actually at the helm of the club instead of some mysterious council, the team did well. Madeiros, a veteran of "il Pomenienze" strategy himself, having been trained by the mastermind Toset has had enough knowledge and insight in regards to the tactic to use it right and at times, the attack would shine bright like a diamond. The defense seemed a bit wobbly at times, but for the most part it actually did its job right keeping a number of clean sheets or one-goal encounters from impossibly good attacks by the offenders.

While the team is usually not individual-focused, special attention must be paid where it is due. While gli attaccanti prides itself in using multiple fluid and flexible lineups, the defensive core remains the same, that is because the sheer skill of Ibarra-Callejon-Puig is simply too much to be broken by any up-and-coming defenders at the time. While Ibarra's the classic archetype of the Juven defender, meaning speedy and in position at all times with great tackling ability, he is also the player who is most clear-headed in the back 3, which has served well in times of need. Callejon has all the attributes of Ibarra, however being hot-headed means he does get carded a lot, but he is by the far the most confident as well as clutch in the squad and his skill ceiling is higher than the ceiling itself. Lastly, Puig, he is a little different, the AC Serone talent is massive, standing at 193cm tall while being all bulked up, players seemingly tall and bigger cannot get past him as he is also always in position, his lack of speed never stopped him but it stopped every single player that approached him.

On the attack, Julio Campana is moving towards becoming the country's main scorer being top, clinical finisher while Joao Pereyra, while not as used, is an amazing technical player, scary marksman and assist-giver and can change the tide of the game in any second. Veteran Martell is still a force to be reckoned with, meanwhile he is still rocking it up in the Shango-Fogoa Premier League at age 35 and still going strong. Alongside that, the abundance of clutch attackers, such as Mipojoseon star Ganymede Garcia and AC Picilia's finest Brunella Tafani produce a side that is scary when given the right tools and situations.

The tactics will not change all too much, a 3-4-3 system which is flexible enough to become a 5-3-2 or a 3-2-5 at any moment, with fluid movement on each players' side of the pitch. Attacking will be mainly focused through crosses in the middle, while through balls and volleys will be used from the side, with an emphasis on being quick-footed and agile, a rotations as such may be comfortable for both starters and substitutions. Defending will be given more emphasis on positioning at the right place at the right time and by thinking ahead. Speed is la squadra's best friend and by using this system, Madeiros is trying to take the best out of every single player.

Entering into the Cup of Harmony, the team is in it to win it, no matter the cost either mentally or physically. The association will not send a bunch of random fans to represent the nation in an act of self-sabotage this time, thanks to the demonstrations, which are ongoing, however the players and staff will always be on the lookout for any bystanders. Mentally, the team remains strong while it is also focused on maintaining a positive attitude to bring a new era of glory days to the Juven populace.

The Juven national team supports a free Qusmo! Thank you for the kits, uni-q!

Il Nuovo Stadio Olimpico della Pomena, Pomena(Capacity: 137,000)
Image

The team will be returning to its initial home, the stadio Olimpico in Pomena, a state of the art and gargantuan stadium, it hosts the games of AC Pomena in the league as well as the Copa di Juvencus final. It has all sorts of amenities in and out of it from shops, to vendors, lounges as well as everything else one can put on their mind.

The stadium of the capital has a different vibe from the previous Vinceti Catedral, all this colorful vibrance suddenly turns into an intimidating atmosphere which accurately represents the deep history of the nation. The chants feel a lot like a call to arms, ready to strengthen the Juven players while drums rhythmically beat through the entirety of the game. If a goal is scored, the loudest screams are to be heard throught the entire city, every celebration starting from this place is an emotional, triumphant celebration, echoing through the nation.

Located on the legendary Taranta Quartier of Pomena, it is in a central position not too far away from the city center and it is easily accessible by any means necessary, such as by train(being near the Taranta, Antelope and Vittoria stations), by bus, or by car.

About the Manager

Shane Newman is a Baker Park born, who took the chance to become the first NT boss for Havynwilde with an understanding that he would have time & resources to build from scratch. He was hounded by negative media coverage, the unrealisitc expectations of supporters & the governing body, and no investment to correct the dearth of talent in the domestic league. He was unceremoniously fired while out of the country on holiday. He'll consider his time there a learning experience. Was the chief defensive architect for the BPNT in the first three WC cycles.Aged 49 and married with three children--a boy and two girls--he will look to the domestic league for talent by focusing on technique, pace, and positional flexibility.

The Playing XI

#1 Steve Leghorn (Goalkeeper)
Steve Leghorn, that name when spoken in Indusse creates a legendary vibe. If anyone asks an Indussean who's your favourite goalkeeper, they would say without wasting a second that it's none other than Steve. Steve is well known due to his performance and his charitable trust. He's a well known figure in the nation who could be a political mastermind. He started his career in Trau de Mongers FC, a local football club in Southbay which soon died after his transfer. His quality performance in the club got him a direct ticket to Southbay Riveria FC B team and soon into the main team. He played for three seasons for Southbay and won the Golden Gloves award in all the seasons. His omnipresent performance got him into the national camp and get him into the best Goalkeeper the nation has ever seen. After this transfer from Southbay to Dhalopura FC, he's been winning all the Golden Gloves in the participated seasons without giving others a chance to snatch them. He's the real saviour of Indusse, saving the nation from the cannon ball like opponent goal shots.

#6 Sampath Singh Aksinwala (Defender)
The Aksinwalas are a well known wrestling clan in Sindvpore. They are those people out there who smash everyone down who stands against them. Sampath Singh Aksinwala could have followed his family customs and traditions and become a wrestling champion smashing all down like a rock. Well, he had started his sporting career as a wrestler back in his 13s but he slowly got interested in soccer and with his fit physique he was a perfect fit for a defender. At his early years, he always got red cards in his matches since he used to throw his opponents away thinking that he is wrestling. The Local Clubs still gave him chance to play and he slowly changed his wrestling in soccer into total defender football. He started to be known all over Sindvpore and he got another call from Sindvpore FC. He still plays for Sindvpore FC and played a major role in their Liga Prima Victory and FFI Cup Victory. He is now the vice captain of Sindvpore FC and is a really important member of the Indussean National Team.

#13 Mathias Paulson (Defender)
Mathias Paulson born to a wealthy Syrian Christian family in Southbay. He wasn't a soccer maniac or something, who would have started playing for clubs before teenage. He started playing at the age of fifteen for several local clubs including his school and college clubs. After this Sport Medicine graduation from Saint Louis Holiness College in Jawaruyah, he got a mail from the Jawaruyah XI FC for being a defence and fitness co trainer. With his outmost hardwork in the game, he soon won a lot of awards and got a call from Rockies International FC for being their defender. He soon left Jawaruyah for Rockies Islands, it was his perfect defending which let the club rise from Division to to Primary Division tournament Liga Prime. The Team reached top three of the primary division tournament after his arrival and he also received a lot of awards for his play. With his arrival in Liga Prime and as a successor to former Rockies Defender Maryland Bruno (Maryland is his nickname because he used to run a cookie brand called Maryland Food), he got into the radar of National team selectors. He later got the call of the selectors to join the national team camp which was the turnover in his career. He soon became a well known defender in the nation and the captain of Rockies International FC.

#4 Aaron McMuller (defender)
Aaron McMuller, born as Aaron Davis Miller is a thirty two year old defender who earned fame during the early transition period. He started playing for Malta FC at the age of Eighteen since his father was the owner of the club. Eventhough it's an unconstitutional admission to the club, he later got to be the key player of the team. His direct ticket to the club without any obstacles made his way to the national camp easy. His defensive analysis gameplay got famed through out Malta and it's neighborhood provinces of Sindvpore and Cheralam. With the fame rising and clubs waiting to get him to their home, the national team selectors caught on him and added him into the national team squad list. Everything was quick for him, the transition from a club player into a professional footballer. The transition from a rich kid into a really rich earning star. The transition from slow paced defense into quick defense and counter strikes... Everything. He is also known as the only defender in Indusse who has scored 100 goals in their domestic history.

#9 Alexis Budtedjson (Mid Fielder)
Alexis Budtedjson, that's the name of the all in all of pass gameplay. Budtedjson has been a major part of the team in every international match played. He has been scoring goals, defending goals and making ways for goals. A complete footballer they say, he's having the chance to be the next captain of Indusse if he doesn't retire. Alexis was born as a neighbor to Baskar Kumar and has been his childhood friend. Both of them started to chase their dreams together and it was Alexis who got into professional football first. Alexis started his professional career with New Hind City FC B team. His perfect play, in the B team got him into Dhalopura FC. His best career club ever, Dhalopura FC got him into fame and later Gav him the ticket to National Team. He scored his first international goal in his debut match and he says that it's his favourite memory. He later got transferred into Sindvpore FC and has been playing for the team. During the colonial era in Indusse, he started working for the national police force (NPF) and he got promoted into the assistant commissioner of Hind City. His wife, Samantha Budtedjson is a well known tennis player of Indusse. She's currently playing in the NSTT for Indusse.

#14 Djetson Hazle (Mid Fielder)
Born as Djetson Hazlett to Dr. Henry Hazlett and Maria Henry in Sindvpore, Djetson change his surname at the age of sixteen to Hazle for joining film industry since there was a prominent star "Philip Hazlett" existing. He couldn't do much in the film industry, which changed his route into football. He played for the national U-18 team due to his absolutely commendable performance for his club Sindvpore FC. His performance also brought him into the national team and got himself as.a key player. He still plays for Sindvpore FC and took part in the Championship of FFI. He is married to Katherine Hazlett, daughter of film star Philip Hazlett. Katherine is also a prominent film star in Indusse. Hazle also took part in futsal and also tried a hand in hockey. But he later realised that he was made for professional soccer.

#10 Baskar H Kumar (Forward)
The best footballer Indusse has seen, that's what Baskar Kumar is. "If Baskar isn't there then, indusse wouldn't play well anytime soon" says Joseph Moteudi.Baskar Kumar was born to District Magistrate Hariharan Kumar and Adv. Maya Devi in Hind City. He started his soccer experience at an age of twelve playing for his school team. He later graduated for Political Studies and played for the university team. His quality performance for the University got him selected for Hind City FC B team and later to Hind City FC. His performance got him a ticket to the national team and he is still one of the oldest players in the national team. He is the current captain of New Hind City FC and Indussean National Team. He is currently the only player in Indusse scoring five hundred goals and the highest goal scorer in Indussean history. At the time of colonial opression, he took part in the independence movement and became the first and current president (term two) of Indusse. He played a major role in changing indusse from "Demoarchal Kingdom" to "Al shayarid empire" to "Holy Patriarchal Union and Republic". He was invested with Bharatratna award given out by India for the best politician.

#7 Bechun Butea (Forward)
Once the best substitute to Baskar Kumar, now he faces a lot of competition from his fellow mates out there.Born to the family of footballers, Bechun didn't face any difficulty to choose his career. At the age of seven, his father admitted him to a local coaching center and with the basic skills got him into the Sindvpore Football Federation Training Center. Bechun's father was Takawilaka Butea, who got elected as the President of Sindvpore Football Federation. Bechun played his first professional match for Sindvpore FC and got transferred into Southbay Riveria FC. He later scored a lot of Goals opening his way to the national camp. He played as a captain substitute and vice captain of the national team and captain of Southbay Riveria FC until Baskar Kumar joined. He also played a major role in the Goblin Humanoid Project which created Goblin Grundjee, who's the first non human national player in Indusse. A football goblin was Bechun's idea. He also got the National Sports Academy Mentor post and is currently the cheif mentor of U-18 national team. His brother, Lalguvasara is the coach of Malta FC and his son Jackson Butea is playing for Sindvpore FC under 18 team.

#11 Antonio Mersiás (Forward)
The second youngest recruit in the camp, Antonio Mersiás is a well known youth idol in the nation. He was the captain of Indussean youth team in the Sporting World Cup. He led the team into the semi finals of the tournament till they lost to Starblaydia's young guns. He was born in Karadawadi, a county in Dhalopura to Francis Antony, who was a carpenter and Selina Francis. He lived as a poor kid going to the village school who wasn't so good at academics but bright in sports. His quality sporting skills caught the eyes of the headmaster there, who admitted him to the local football training sessions. The headmaster soon send him to the Jawal-Biesse the nearest city for his studies. He played for the Jawal-Biesse FC for three years and captained the team until he was called to play for the Dhalopura FC. He got selected to the U-18 team as soon as he played his first match for Dhalopura FC. His quality play in the club also got him promoted as the captain of the youth team. His awesome, historical performance for the youth team got him a quick ticket to the National Team Camp. He is currently an important part of the national team who cannot be replaced easily.

#100 Goblin Grundjee (Forward)
Goblin Grundjee who is the first ever non-human sportsperson from Indusse. The Grundjee's are one of the families of the Goblin species that was created by the scientists by DNA Modelling. The scientists created a new race of Goblins through gene editing and combining the DNAs of Humans with certain animals and Algae. The goblin species were divided into three families were Grundjees are one of the major part. The other two families are called Mithys and Auris. The current members of the grundjee family is Colonel Grundjee who is a Colonel in the royal army of Indusse. The gene of colonel Grundjee was created by merging the genes of three colonels of the army with the genes of a eagle and the green algae. The green algae plays a necessary role in getting the green Color of the skin. The other member is Goblin Grundjee who is currently playing for the juniors. His gene was created by merging the genes of David Bekem, a former football and of a wild horse. The green algae is also a necessary part of the composition. The grundjee family has the green composition of skins due to green algae. Whereas, Mithys has a brownish red skin due to the presence of Blue-green Algae with Iron sediments, Auris family has the skin Color of a normal human as there isn't any presence of algae. The skin textures and patterns of the goblins are same as the humans and the color is the only thing that can discriminate it with humans. The scientific community believe that the goblin race will create revolution in the world of science. The creation of Goblin Grundjee was overseen by fellow player Bechun Butea who also played a major role in bringing Grundjee as a experimental player. Well, Grundjee is currently one of the best strikers the nation has seen.

Overview

Eraman, officially the Kingdom of Eraman, is an island country in the Melayu Archipelago. The federal constitutional monarchy consists of seven kingdoms and two states. It shares a land border with Samudera Darussalam and a maritime border with Pemecutan, Sharktail, and Southern Palm Islands. Anara is the national capital and largest city while Daulapura is the royal seat of the monarch. The country's population is 14,753,910.

Eraman is ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse. About half of the population is ethnically Malay, with large minorities of Girian, Mandaran, and Palmyran. Malay and English are recognized as the official languages of Eraman. The economy is mainly fuelled by its natural resources but is expanding in the sectors of commerce, manufacturing, and tourism.

Football is considered the number one sport in the country. The local clubs and the national team are followed religiously by the citizens. Eraman currently sits at 64th in the KPB ranking, up 21 spots from 85th before the World Cup 89 qualifiers.

Staffs & Tactics

Head Coach: Ross Hearkener (Brenecia)

Ross Hearkener is the head coach of the Eraman national football team. He is the former player and head coach of Royal Puncakpura. Under his guidance, Royal Puncakpura managed to break the domination of Royal Daulapura and Anara in Liga Eraman. Ross Hearkener managed to lift the Liga Eraman trophy 3 seasons ago.

His appointment as the national team head coach 2 years ago caused a stir among the Royal Puncakpura fans. Royal Puncakpura was top of the league 2 seasons ago with several matches left to be played and looked set to win a back-to-back title when the president of ERAFA who is also the owner of Royal Daulapura appointed Ross Hearkener as the national team head coach. Royal Puncakpura fans saw this as an attempt to weaken their side. Royal Daulapura then went on to win Liga Eraman that season.

Ross Hearkerner led Eraman to their most successful run in the previous Cup of Harmony by reaching the quarter-final. Eraman has previously never managed to get through to the knockout stage.

Style Modifier : 2
Formation : 4-2-3-1

Ross Hearkener prefers his team to play with an attacking mindset and high pressing intensity. He prefers to utilize an attacking midfielder as the playmaker and the focal point of the build-up. He prefers to employ two ball-playing defenders who are comfortable on the ball as his main center-back partnership accompanied by two attacking full-backs. The space left behind by the attacking full-backs will be covered by a deep-lying playmaker who will drop as low as going on the same line with the center-back pairing to cover for the attacking full-backs as well as to start the attack. With the full-backs pushed forward, Ross Hearkener prefered his wingers to push inside and create trouble from inside the penalty box.

The Federation of Mertagnian Football Presents...
Image
The Mertagnian National Football Team
for the Cup of Harmony 81

Our History:

Mertagne is one of the key players in the region of Anaia, sitting between sporting giants Starblaydia and Krytenia, and sporting up-and-comers Kotzellach and the Karodin Tetrarchy, on the continent of <Nova> Calania.
A nation with a long and complicated sporting history, Mertagne has emerged anew and reminded the multiverse what they're made of this World Cup cycle, with a 3rd place finish in Qualifying Group 3 that surpassed the expectations of all but the most rabid fans. Now, all eyes are on the nation to perform to an acceptable level once again, finally competing on a level stage with the big folk. While Mertagne isn't looking to win here, a solid showing in the group stage and the opportunity to cause some big upsets will sate the ever-barking media in the country, and prove to the FMF that the money the government has spent to prop up football hasn't gone to waste.

Our Key(lime) Staff:

Manager: Tyrrel Gulliver, 57, Image
Grandson of Calanian Union forward Phil Gulliver, Tyrrel Gulliver took charge of the squad before the Eagle's Cup XI, and commanded the outfit into a decent shape which saw them move to the semi-finals of that tournament. However, with much greater success from the youth wing of Mertagne's talent in recent years, the pressure has been on Gulliver to select a balanced squad that includes the best of experience and talent. His managerial pattern has hit its stride, and he is hoping to command the team to a respectable finish in the Cup of Harmony.

Assistant Manager: Phil Dornell, 70, Image
Phil Dornell is getting on a bit now, but his keen analytical mind and former shot-stopping capability have rendered him very useful in the position of assistant manager.

Tyrell Gulliver bites the ball off like his father and grandfather before him, as the latter cut his teeth at Ulsa, Eura. Because of this, the squad will be playing with a style modifier of +3, which emphasises that the best defence is a killer offence.

Typically, a player closer to the top of the chart within each position is more likely to be picked. This outfit of the Mertagnian National team will be playing in a 2-3-5 formation, that presses on the attack and is punishing if the ball is won in the attacking third. This team is also very capable of scoring from set pieces, and if an attack isn't looking feasible against a more defensively minded team, the players will be looking to create opportunities to get corners or free kicks.
If you RP first, you are encouraged to make a team selection that works for you.

A quick look at Tyrell Gulliver's notes shows...

Most likely to...
Score a goal: Claudio Vantula, Dani Emdelbia, Fabian Thundhart
Kick off a set piece: Benn Shakletinn, Erman Anteo
Make a magnificent cross: Benn Shakletinn, Dannon Larr
Stop an opposing attack: Tyson Oughtio, Luka Hazaluta
Get too stuck in and get a card: Donna Eclis, Josua Tikurtz, Anya Mann
Do something out of the ordinary: Fabian Thundhart, Luka Hazaluta, Pia Aziz

Milchama Line Up for First Baptism of Fire

Wait, isn't this the BoF roster post?

Yes except we changed one starter.

Oh interesting

Definitely.

Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait.

Yes.

We're STILL doing the same gag. It wasn't funny for the World Cup and it's certainly not funny now.

Sure but we're not changing the starting lineup and we're lazy. Like what are we going to say "We were once Unofficial champions during qualifying and beat Turori" It's irrelevant.

Fine whatever

So here's the roster:

After countless years, somewhere between 6 and 400, Milchama has finally returned to international sports. After a disappointing AOCAF that despite a close loss to Sarzonia ended in Milchama taking 0 points from three games the real stuff can begin, the World Cup! Milchama comes back as by far the most decorated nation in this BoF and possibly the most decorated nation ever to participate in a BoF during the competition. Since the majority of nations are in the BoF as first time nations and not nations that participated in 50 World Cup qualifying cycles this is unsurprising. Anyway, despite some calls to change the roster we did not and it's the exact same one as the AOCAF roster with the same coach.

Coach: Darryl Lamarein - Lamarein was pro in something other than sports, namely an accountant, when he was asked to take over the finances of Mongol FC, then a third division side. After getting the finances in order he also noticed they tended to make more money and play better if they used different tactics with different players. He eventually convinced the GM to let him try that for one game. They won 6-0. They did it the next game, they won 6-2. Lamarein was then made coach of the Mongols where he led them to straight promotions. Then people got angry at him and had him manage the national team assuming that he would get paid for a do nothing job. Then the Isolation ended and now he's doing things. Who knows what's up?

Starting 11:
GK: Miles Inthracam - Surprisingly the only Alexandrian in the squad. Helped Great Alexandria to the most recent title.
D: Dollard Foster - Big man who is known for vicious tackling. Also a decent header of the ball.
D: Ittai Witson - Captain. While only 23 has clear leadership abilities and the ability to love which is more important than any singular footballing skill. Also, incredible defensive instincts which is why he's on the team.
D: George Trois - The third George. Better than the first two Georges
M: Leetal Fenet - CM - Really good at picking out a pass to the right player at the right time. Engine of the offensive midfield.
M: Gal Waver - Box to box central midfielder who is known for winning the ball back and recycling it very efficiently.
M: Eloise Johnson - Defensive midfielder. Has played defense for her club team but is moved up because it made sense for this squad.
F: Mattityahu - Mononymed man. Very weird. Great free kick taker.
F: Marc K. Floren - Not related to Marc J. Floren despite the name. Greatest finisher in the modern Milchamian league.
F: Holden Flomes - Prototypical back to goal center forward.
F: Itamar ben Johansson - Very confusingly named forward. Was not expected until the team was named to be a started. Played as a midfielder for his club.

Subs:
GK: Ishtvan Martin - Second string
GK: LaDonte Crenter - Third string. He also occasionally plays left back.
D: Dallas Hunter - LB - Shoots to kill. Very aggressive outside back.
D: Kent Kells - CB - Back up centerback sometimes gets a lot of playing time and is often the first name off the bench if there are any defensive frailties.
D: Jay Flimt - RB - Also aggressive but usually in tackles. Led the MFL in cards last year.
M: Morris Maris - Fast tricky winger. Plays a touch too far forward for the system but is always the first sub off the bench in the midfield.
M: Amy Cekarn - CM - Defensive mid. Comes in for defensive solidity.
M: Kelly Filimitov - LM - Lefty dead ball specialist. Also very good at crosses.
M: Colm Interlasskoti - RM - Young kid who is here for the experience.
F: Dee Schneider - RF - Fast, tricky, good handles, scores a lot for his club. People really think Schneider should start.
F: Marvin Gorek - LF - Defensive forward. Does score some goals but known for his work rate and creating transition through good pressing.
F: Elliot Flok - CF/RF - Pure scorer. Comes on for the "need a goal with 15 minutes left" situations.
F: Burt Burner - All forward positions. - Very fast. Poor control skills.
Milchama Sports achievements:
World Baseball Classic 23 Champion!
Note: The demonym is Milchamian. There are two of the letter "I(i)" and not one.

Note: In the Adabian timeline, the Cup of Harmony takes place in June-July 2035. Age is as of June 1, 2035.

The Adabian National Football Team

Well, football is a hard game; there’s no denying it. It’s a game that can bring out the worst in you, at times.
-Sir Alex Ferguson

Demonym: Adabian (plural Adabians)
Association: Adab Football Association (AFA)

BACKGROUND
Adab just narrowly missed out on qualification to World Cup 89; while they only lost once, their eight draws cost them valuable points and left them in third place in Group 14 with 35 points, behind Krytenia and Pasarga with 41 and 40 points, respectively. Nevertheless, for a team who had begun the qualifiers ranked 139th in the world, finishing third was already far better than what most expected. Their stellar performance in the qualifiers earned them a 50-place rise in the rankings to 89th, as well as an invitation to the Cup of Harmony, which the AFA gladly accepted.

Publicly the squad put on a united front, declaring their continued enthusiasm and determination to carry the country as far as possible in the tournament. Yet personal, off-the-pitch drama has threatened to overshadow their on-court performance in the news. Midfielders Alulim Sinmuballit and Emma Arthur are subject to increasingly rife allegations that their teamwork and synergy on the pitch may actually be a sign of something more off it. At the same time Sinmuballit is also linked to Aida Kaykali, daughter of national team manager Saad Kaykali; all three people involved in this supposed love triangle have denied the rumors. Meanwhile, the sudden decline of goalkeeper and captain Mohammed Marramzi – which led to his banishment to the benches in favor of the young Satchit Chandrasekar and removal as captain in favor of Enlilbani Yargab – has resulted in rumors regarding his health. Co-assistant manager Inimabakesh Thulus has not announced that he is retiring, yet is widely expected to do so anyway following the conclusion of the tournament, paving the way for Rashid Abbas to be sole assistant manager and, some say, heir to the top job once Kaykali himself retires.

KIT
Image

The national team's kits, designed by Ahmad Enlil (the first President of the Football Association) in 1907, are currently manufactured by Shining Sun Company, owned by Rahman Ashurbanipal, businessman and grandson of Emperor Tizqar III.

STAFF
Manager: Saad KAYKALI - Male – born January 20, 1974 (age 61)
After a thirteen-year hiatus, Kaykali is back at his post as national team manager and enjoying it. Though insisting that he is more than able to juggle his two jobs as national team manager and leader of a real estate company, some believe he will soon be leaving the latter, from which he has been taking increasingly frequent leaves anyway, as a sign of his commitment to the team.

Assistant manager: Inimabakesh THULUS- Male – born March 28, 1967 (age 68)
A friend of Kaykali from their playing days at Baghdad City, Inimabakesh Thulus gladly returned once again to assist his friend in his second stint managing the team. Rumored to be retiring at the end of this World Cup cycle, which will see Rashid Abbas assume the position of sole assistant manager to Kaykali.

Assistant manager: Rashid ABBAS - Male – born February 15, 1987 (age 48)
Formerly a star player in the island country of Faraby, now an associated state of Adab, Abbas is determined to do all he can to help the team and prove that he has earned his position by merit, and not merely as a gesture of appeasement from the AFA to its Farabian counterpart. Currently also manager of the under-21 team.

General coach: Yitzhak BENNETT - Male – born September 20, 1976 (age 58)
Variously described as quiet, active, calm, and attentive, Bennett is very much respected by the players, who admire his work ethic, loyalty to the national team, and willingness to listen to them.

Goalkeeping coach: Faishal AR-RASHID - Male – born August 14, 1978 (age 56)
Regarded, much like Bennett, as a stabilizing influence in the national team, ar-Rashid is particularly close – thanks to his job - to goalkeeper Mohammed Marramzi and is understood to be one of the latter’s few confidants.

Physio: Hamza RIDHA - Male – born January 15, 1983 (age 52)
A longtime friend of both Kaykali and Thulus. Widely respected by fellow staff and players for the understated way by which he performs his job.

STARTING LINEUP
Note: I may reveal the starting lineup and substitutes for the next match(es) in my RPs. Should I not RP or should my RP not contain any information regarding the starting lineup and substitutes, then feel free to pick them yourself.

GK: 1 – Satchit CHANDRASEKAR – Male – born February 7, 2015 (age 20) – Mosul – 0 goals
The under-21 goalkeeper whose timely saves drove his team to the final of the Di Bradini Cup, Chandrasekar now suddenly found himself catapulted to the position of first-choice goalkeeper in the senior team, replacing Mohammed Marramzi whose deteriorating skills (and rumors of declining health) have increasingly become a cause for concern. Far from being overwhelmed by his role, Chandrasekar seems to have adapted well, his steely nerves shepherding the team through the latter half of the World Cup qualifiers and now the Cup of Harmony.

LB: 2 – Tansu ALTUN - Female – born February 25, 2009 (age 26) - Mosul - 0 goals
Fondly called the "heart of the squad" by her teammates. Kind, polite, smiling, beautiful inside and out, she gets along easily with all the staff and players. Yet her soft exterior hides a hard, relentless, unyielding side to her, which shines through every time she is called to perform on the pitch.

CB: 3 – Shania ENMERKAR - Female – born January 20, 2008 (age 27) - Baghdad City - 0 goals
Widely seen as one of the leaders of the “female wave” in Adabian football, observers nevertheless agree that Enmerkar has earned her place in the team by merit, rather than merely by virtue of her gender. The other female players in the squad look up to her as their leader and spokeswoman, and it is she who often goes to Kaykali to communicate the women’s concerns and opinions.

CB: 4 – Yousif ISSOU - Male – born September 27, 2004 (age 30) - Adab United - 0 goals
A reliable defender, what he lacks in star power he makes up for in tenacity, a seemingly endless energy reserve, and impressive performance on the pitch day in and day out.

RB: 5 – Taymour FRANGIEH - Male – born February 24, 2001 (age 34) - Adab United - 1 goal
The youngest of the remaining veterans from the World Cup 81 squad, Frangieh has gradually assumed the position of mentor to the newer players and maintains good relations with them, but his relationship with captain Marramzi reportedly remains troubled as a result of his interreligious romance with Marramzi’s sister years ago.

LM: 6 – Emma ARTHUR - Female – born November 18, 2012 (age 22) - Adab United - 2 goals (Vice Captain)
A representative of the Anglo-Adabian community, the second-youngest member of the squad, and widely seen as a young prodigy on almost the same level as Alulim Sinmuballit. Also a stunning beauty who has been offered supermodel contracts, which has led to concerns that this will distract her too much from her job as a player, although Kaykali has dismissed those concerns.

CM: 7 – Alulim SINMUBALLIT - Male – born September 15, 2013 (age 22) - Adab United - 1 goal
The baby of the squad, and an undoubted prodigy of the game. Sinmuballit desires nothing more than to impress his teammates, and so far he has impressed them greatly. Especially close to Emma Arthur; together the duo are the centerpiece of Adab’s midfield.

RM: 8 – Ephraim ORLEV - Male – born April 18, 1999 (age 36) - Mosul - 7 goals
A veteran from World Cup 81, Orlev remains an integral part of the squad who can be relied upon to drive forward the team’s hallmark counterattacks. He was reportedly uncomfortable with what he perceived to be his status as the team’s token Jew, although this was assuaged by the arrival of Rebekah Yissakar.

LAM/LW: 9 – Jushur AL-KUFA - Male – born August 27, 2003 (age 32) - Damascus Steelers – 18 goals
A longtime star of the Adabian domestic leagues, the 30-year-old al-Kufa has finally secured his position as a mainstay of the national team. A consistently polite and unassuming man, he is respected by all of his teammates.

RAM/RW: 10 – Rebekah YISSAKAR - Female – born January 20, 2013 (age 22) - Adab United - 24 goals
Brash, funny, happy-go-lucky, all those words have been used to describe Rebekah Yissakar, but do not let her bubbly, excitable personality distract you from the fact that she is one of Adabian football’s rising talents, with a deadly finishing touch that secured her a place at the forefront of the national team. Widely tipped to be the “new Yargab” and his spiritual successor.

CF: 11 – Enlilbani YARGAB - Male – born April 21, 1999 (age 36) - Baghdad City - 81 goals (Captain)
Widely regarded as the greatest Adabian player of all time, the backbone of the national team, Yargab is not as fast as he used to be, yet he remains as capable a finisher as ever and is still more than able to deliver goals at a regular rate. His love for football burns strong still and he is happy to be able to mentor the younger members of the squad, although he is sometimes taken aback by their reverence for him.

SUBSTITUTES
GK: 12 – Mohammed MARRAMZI - Male – born March 15, 1999 (age 36) - Baghdad City - 1 goal
LB: 13 – Adnan AL-TIKRITI – Male – born July 20, 2015 (age 19) – Damascus Steelers U21 – 0 goals
CB: 14 – Manishtushu SHARKALISHARRI – Male – born August 20, 2013 (age 21) – Baghdad City – 0 goals
CB: 15 – Sarrugi AKSHAK – Male – born May 29, 2016 (age 19) – Adab United U21 – 0 goals
RB: 16 – Sally THOMAS – Female – born October 5, 2015 (age 19) – Beirut U21 – 0 goals
LM: 17 – Salman AL-MUNTAR – Male – born May 10, 2001 (age 34) – Adab United – 4 goals
CM: 18 – Naram-Sin SAMANU – Male – born March 29, 2018 (age 17) – Baghdad United U18 – 0 goals
RM: 19 – Amara EMMITA – Female – born January 19, 2016 (age 18) – Baghdad United U21 – 0 goals
LAM/LW: 20 – Adanirari UHWAN – Male – born June 10, 2000 (age 34) – Mosul – 10 goals
RAM/RW: 21 – Shamsuiluna ZAMBIYA – Male – born May 27, 2000 (age 35) – Mosul – 13 goals
CF: 22 – Kastiliasu AKAPTAHA – Male – born March 27, 2014 (age 21) – Baghdad City – 3 goals
CF: 23 – Nadje BARZANI – Female – born March 14, 2017 (age 18) – Beirut U18 – 0 goals

STADIUM
Image

Adab City Stadium, the pride and joy of Adabian football, was completed in 1940. Located in the northern part of Adab City, the stadium was able to accommodate 40,000 people at the time of its opening. Renovations in 1978 made it an all-seater stadium and expanded its capacity to 55,350. Later it increased to 75,000 following upgrades in 2009-10 and then 76,500 after another upgrade in 2019. It is currently home to the Adabian national football team and Adab City FC.

TACTICS AND FORMATION
The team will use 4-3-2-1, the "Christmas tree" formation, with an emphasis on attacking play and taking advantage of their opponents' mistakes to launch a quick counterattack, marked by rapid passing from the back four - and, if deemed safe enough, long balls - through the midfield and to the front.

Goalkeeper Satchit Chandrasekar has enjoyed a meteoric rise from under-21 keeper to first-choice senior team keeper, aided by the sudden decline of Mohammed Marramzi, which resulted in his demotion to the benches. Taymour Frangieh heads the defense, relatively shying away from publicity compared to some of his teammates up front and letting his agility – barely diminished at age 34 – and most importantly his ability to quickly rally his fellow defenders to close ranks during every attack from the opposition speak for themselves. At midfield, Alulim Sinmuballit and Emma Arthur continue their powerful partnership which, despite the ever-increasing rumors, they insist is purely professional, their agility allowing them increased coverage of the pitch and domination of possession, which they skillfully use to quickly transfer the ball away from enemy feet and to the attacking trio of Jushur al-Kufa, Rebekah Yissakar, and the great Enlilbani Yargab. At age 36, the country’s greatest player remains by far its most lethal finisher, although he now largely avoids ostentatious displays of acrobatics and dribbling skills which marked his younger days in favor of simple runs towards the penalty box. Al-Kufa and Yissakar are also gradually bearing more and more of the goalscoring burden, with Yargab occasionally dropping back to serve as a false nine, leaving a hole in the opposition defense to be exploited by al-Kufa, Yissakar, and the midfielders.

Starting Lineup, Formation, and Tactics:

Image

The Valladar national football team is known for having its traditional 3-2-2-3 (or 3-4-3 for general reference) formation, which for this WC campaign will mutate into a 3-5-2 by pushing back one of the three forwards to act as a playmaker, and can turn into either a very aggressive yet non-conventional 3-2-5 for attacking or a 5-4-1 (a 3-6-1, even) when the team feel the need to enter into a defensive mode. La Nacional will always be looking to attack and retain ball possession for as long as possible, trying to score many goals in the shortest possible time and mounting an insurmountable lead for the second half of the match when players from both teams start showing signs of fatigue. This squad mostly relies on the speed of its wingers both in attack and in defense modes, with another couple of players (nowadays Leandro Martelli and Christian O'Brien) playing the role of defensive midfielders that was well covered by Jonathan Bosetti, Pedro Pedretti, and Bryan Castillo in the past: both should be able to retreat to the defensive line with ease whenever the team lose ball possession in order to form a line of 5 defenders, thus giving rival forwards a very hard time when trying to break through the Valladar defense. Regardless of who the trio (now duo) playing up front is made of, those strikers are well prepared under the premises of the typical Valladar forward: very speedy and talented, with the ability to seemingly harmless crosses into goals, create chances and score goals out of nothing, and kill defenses with speed and lethal counterattacks.

SYLESTONE NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM

CUP OF HARMONY 81

TECHNICAL

Style Modifier: -5

Nickname: The Sentients
Formation: 4-5-1 (4-1-3-1-1)

STAFF

Manager: Ronny Tollemache Image (M - Age 50)
Following a second successive elimination in the group stage of the Cup of Harmony, the Toilet was finally sacked from Sylestone’s managerial role as the board went looking for someone to step up and take its place. In the end, Bollonischian manager Ronny Tollemache was accepted into the role, despite only being the manager of a low-level club, Cilaous SC in the Liga Dos, before making his way to the tropical Esportivan island. However, his first series of outings as manager resulted in Sylestone's best ever qualifying campaign, with 31 points from their 18 matches, despite being in second place on 20 points at the halfway mark. It wasn't the greatest end as the Sentients finished behind Chromatika and Eura in third place, but it was enough for Tollemache to keep his job. His 4-1-3-1-1 formation, which can transfer to 4-1-2-1-2 when the going gets tough, is still a relatively new concept for the Sentients, but they can pull it off. In front of a home crowd expecting things similar to the miracle run six years ago, the Bollonischian will have a lot to live up to.

Coach: Toaster Image
Having coached the team ever since its debut against Pangurstan in the 72nd Baptism of Fire, the Toaster certainly knows the inner workings of the team and what really makes them tick. It pushes them hard, always trying to ensure they are as fit as possible while leaving the tactical ploys up to the manager. At their second home Cup of Harmony, can the Toaster once again help bring glory to the Esportivans?

GOALKEEPERS

Name Caps Goals Club
GK: Brick Wall 206 1 Kirkham Appliances Image

GK: Table 23 0 Fridge FC Image
GK: Saucepan 6 0 Kirkham Sentients Image

With the Sylestonean squad expanding to encompass 23 players, an extra goalkeeper has been selected for some experience to give the Brick Wall and to a lesser extent, the Table, a break. After much consideration, the Saucepan was given the nod over rivals such as the Cabinet, Aluminium Foil and the Oven and despite there being a chance the Sentient may not be able to get a game, it will still provide good experience. The Brick Wall will be starting in the vast majority of games, using its supreme height and width to its advantage to stop nigh on every shot that comes near it. The Table does not have this physical advantage and isn’t the most agile player ever, but its ability to fall onto its side and block the vast majority of ground shots makes it a very good goalkeeper to have on the bench. The Saucepan has this agility, but lacks a serious amount of size. Yet, it has acquired an ominous knack of precision when going in for a save and should not be a burden for the Sylestonean defence if it gets the nod ahead of both the Brick Wall and Table for a match.

DEFENDERS

Name Caps Goals Club
LB: Ironing Board 229 6 Breakfast Bowl FC Image
LCB: Toilet 206 8 Starksville Coastal Image
RCB: Washing Machine 225 3 Fridge FC Image
RB: Dishwasher 216 4 Dishwasher Image

LB: Nokia 42 1 Kirkham Appliances Image
LCB: Sofa 221 6 Kirkham Sentients Image
RCB: Wok 11 0 Souraoi FT Image
RB: Drawer 198 2 Kirkham Sentients Image

Having traditionally favoured a lineup with five at the back, Ronny Tollemache’s entrance as the manager of the Sentients has meant that he would only use four at the back despite maintaining what he says is still a very defensive formation. As a result, the Sofa has given way and has been moved into the reserves, where it will be joined by the Drawer and the Nokia, two players with success on the international level, alongside the Wok of Souraoi FC in Squidroidia. The Ironing Board will continue to be an agile nuisance to the opposition wingers and will likely receive the most bookings throughout qualification, while upcoming stars such as the Toilet and Washing Machine will guard the central defence with their mischievous plays. The Dishwasher will provide the final piece of the defence, filling the right-back role with its impeccable strength and power, able to clear the ball with extreme precision and ferocity time and time again.

Considering the Sentients are one of the most defensive-minded sides in the football multiverse, up there with the likes of Ko-oren, South Covello, and a couple of others, their defence will be playing as far back as possible. Yet, on occasion, they will push up if opposition forwards are struggling to penetrate that defence or they are behind with only little time to spare. For corner kicks they will also move up for, ready to slot home the ball that comes out of the box, with the same tactics being used for direct free kicks or spot kicks. Their main goal for each game will be to attempt to keep the final result to a shutout and while this may often be tricky, they certainly have the ability to do it for what could even end up being the majority of games.

MIDFIELDERS

Name Caps Goals Club
CDM: Air Conditioner 18 1 Kirkham Appliances Image
LM: Stove 217 15 Kitchen Sink FC Image
CM: Bar Stool 227 32 Kirkham Sentients Image
RM: Fridge (c) 231 24 Fridge FC Image
CAM: Mixer 230 69 Swisston City FC Image

CDM: Television 14 1 Kirkham Appliances Image
LM: Kitchen Sink 14 1 Breakfast Bowl FC Image
CM: Knife 12 2 Fridge FC Image
RM: Spiderwebs 169 10 Breakfast Bowl FC Image
CAM: Heater 15 5 Kirkham Appliances Image

Similar to their defence, the Sentients’ midfield is a key part of their ability to set balls up for the lone forward, no matter who Tollemache decides it shall be. With five individuals all able to meld into one collective, it will be tough for any opposition to break through as they seek to play possession football, especially effective considering four of them have been playing together since Sylestone’s inaugural game in the 72nd Baptism of Fire. The Air Conditioner, following a series of good seasons as a centre midfielder for Kirkham Appliances, has earned its maiden call-up as the Sentients’ starting defensive midfielder, ahead of fellow Appliance debutant, the Television. The rest of the starting lineup is made up of familiar faces… erm, players, with the Stove, Bar Stool and captain Fridge making up the core of the midfield, having played roughly 600 national games between them. With the Spiderwebs as a reserve right midfielder for the Fridge, the right wing will always face a significant threat no matter who is playing there. Finally, the Mixer will be playing just its second tournament in an attacking midfielder role, having played its first game there against Vdara in the 80th Cup of Harmony, where it was understandably scratchy before getting more used to the role by the end of the tournament. Can it continue to improve here?

The defensive midfielder and centre midfielder will typically be looking around for the pass to set up a winger or forward, while the Stove, Fridge and reserves will be looking to see whether they can make a good run up the wing time and time again as well as pushing back into the defence when the need arises. The Mixer will be playing up as much as possible, perhaps even nudging into the support striker role, but can also drop back when the need is urgent. Typically, though, it will be helping out whoever is playing in the forward role and if Sylestone are desperately behind, can move up to help create further scoring opportunities as they transition to a 4-4-2 formation.

FORWARDS

Name Caps Goals Club
CF: Tumble Dryer 226 60 Kirkham Sentients Image

CF: AC Vent 139 13 Swisston City FC Image

Finally, there is the lone forward. Naturally, the Tumble Dryer is going to be starting in most of the Sentients’ matches, but the AC Vent is certainly not a bad player to have on the bench as a backup. The former is well known for its brilliant shooting abilities, flinging towards goal at a very fast pace, and often with great accuracy. It is also a brilliant taker of penalties but can often get wound up on a bad day, while the AC Vent is far calmer and collected.

Typically, whoever is playing the forward role is likely to stay as far up as possible to put continuous pressure on the opposition defence. Often, they will push the offside trap, but that’s a risk that Tollemache has accepted he may have to take, but is something both forwards are naturals at avoiding. They each have strong ball skills, but issues may come in their passing abilities if a defence eventually overwhelms them.

INDIVIDUAL PLAYER BIOGRAPHIES

* As the dirty tactics are rather godmod-y, I will only use them at your explicit permission and most of them would garner at least a booking of some sort, if not a red card.

Goalkeepers:

Brick Wall
About: Is a Brick Wall with the dimensions of two metres in height by three metres in length, and about ten centimetres thick. Lacks agility, but uses its size to its advantage.
Dirty Tactics: Ramming into the occasional striker who dribbles the ball towards him instead of just shooting.

Table
About: Like the Brick Wall, the Table lacks agility. However, to counter this, it stands on its side and is somehow quite good at bouncing. Again, it uses its size to its advantage, being about a metre in height and nearly five metres long when on its side.
Dirty Tactics: What’s scarier than watching a literal dinner table running towards you at a rate of knots?

Saucepan
About: The Saucepan is slightly larger than your average saucepan, with a radius of roughly 25 centimetres protruded by a handle of roughly the same length. It is quite small for a goalkeeper but makes up for it with impeccable precision and accuracy, even when the handle must be used.
Dirty Tactics: Hitting an annoying forward over the head on corner kicks.

Defenders:

Ironing Board
About: The Ironing Board is very good at using its “legs” to cut down the majority of forwards and wingers looking to break past it on the right wing. A very good tackler and has supreme agility but is frequently booked for not being able to control those legs it has.
Dirty Tactics: Break dancing in front of an opposition forward to waste time.

Toilet
About: A fan favourite for obvious reasons, the Toilet has played nearly as many games as the best players on the Sentients’ side despite only being a reserve. It is quite a stout defender, with strong passing abilities and good pace, although it could do with a bit more agility.
Dirty Tactics: Spraying poop everywhere

Washing Machine
About: Essentially the backbone of the defence, the Washing Machine’s size makes it one of the best players on the field, even on a bad day. While it may lack agility and pace, having a massive washing machine on the field isn’t the most promising sign for any forward, anywhere.
Dirty Tactics: Bogging the field with its ability to spew water everywhere.

Dishwasher
About: Like the Washing Machine, the Dishwasher is quite a large feature of the Sentients’ defensive line, being yet another large Sentient that lacks agility and pace, but has stamina. Tough to get past in the best of times, but unless you’re a snail you should not have to deal with it again if you do succeed.
Dirty Tactics: Bogging the field with its ability to spew water everywhere.

Nokia
About: Unlike many of the other Sentients in the team, the Nokia is not life-size, instead being roughly five feet tall and two in terms of width. And being a brick, it is really quite difficult to break past it as it looms ominously over you.
Dirty Tactics: Anything that comes with being a brick.

Sofa
About: The Sofa can feel slightly hard done by its move to the Sentients’ reserve lineup, considering it has started in nigh on every match the side has ever played. Yet, one had to go, and the Sofa was it. However, in the case a defender is substituted, it will be far from a burden to the back line if it is brought on. It has pace and while it may not be the most agile on the field, it can certainly kick a big ball.
Dirty Tactics: Apparently it can urge opposition players to want to sit down on it and relax. Dunno if it’s true, but it reckons it can.

Wok
About: The Wok may have never played a game for the Sylestonean national team before, but the agility and pace that some other defenders lack may come in handy, as this is one of the many attributes the Wok has. Can also take free kicks with supreme precision.
Dirty Tactics: Bongs opposition players on the head if it feels like it.

Drawer
About: A veteran, the Drawer has a calm head under pressure despite never really setting the planet alight with supreme skill. It’s a bit of a middling player, having no weak nor strong attributes although it has been a bit of poor form over recent years on the international scene.
Dirty Tactics: None (boo)

Midfielders:

Air Conditioner
About: After a series of good seasons with the Appliances, the Air Conditioner has earned its maiden national call-up, playing as a starting defensive midfielder with its inexplicable passing skills. While it isn’t great when it comes to dribbling, its stamina and agility will certainly come in handy.
Dirty Tactics: Blowing an opponent away like they’re a piece of cardboard.

Stove
About: Before now, the Stove was considered to be the weakest of Sylestone’s three midfielders, but a couple of good seasons with Letson Town in Ethane and now with Kitchen Sink FC has named it as one of Sylestone’s best. Has no necessarily weak attributes, but is somehow extremely quick despite its size and is a good crosser and dribbler of the ball.
Dirty Tactics: Can heat itself up and make everything around it extremely hot and possibly even fiery. Maybe even the ball, too…

Bar Stool
About: The Bar Stool is well-renowned for being a mischievous character and is arguably the best player on the side, undoubtedly the best centre-midfielder Sylestone has ever seen, with a brilliant eye for passing and dribbling. It also has pace, stamina and agility as well as a good finishing touch, particularly on corners.
Dirty Tactics: Can stand on top of fellow Sentients to get a height advantage over everyone else on the field.

Fridge
About: The captain of the side, the Fridge has a cool, icy head that all starting midfielders, save the Stove, possess. Like the Bar Stool, it possesses all the attributes of a typical midfielder, as well as the ability to cross balls into the box from the right wing when the Sentients are on the attack. Can it lead Sylestone to their first-ever qualification?
Dirty Tactics: Puts the ball inside itself and runs headlong for goal.

Mixer
About: Another one of Sylestone’s best players, the Mixer is moving out of its traditional forward role to play as an attacking midfielder for this qualification cycle, still a relatively new experience for it. It has astonishing dribbling skills, easily the best in the team, as well as good stamina and pace. However, it lacks some passing ability and kind of sucks at finishing, especially over recent years.[/u]
Dirty Tactics: Spins round and round in a circle to confuse an opponent.

Television
About: It was a risky move to place a typical centre-back in this role, but the Television deserves it nonetheless after a couple of good seasons in that role and occasionally pushing up into the midfield area. When it gets a game, it may be slightly rusty having never played in this sort of position before, but it is a good all round player and has huge potential.
Dirty Tactics: Turns on a live stream of the game being played to confuse opponents.

Kitchen Sink
About: An underrated player, the Kitchen Sink throws its best at every game possible, always doing what is best for the team. It doesn’t score a heap of goals, but is a brilliant passer and crosser and has lots of stamina.
Dirty Tactics: Randomly falls on top of you when you’re about to score.

Knife
About: Once a part of the fork, spoon and knife trio, the Knife has shone above everyone else over recent years and somehow found itself in the squad for Sylestone’s fifth attempt at a World Cup. Playing behind the Bar Stool, it may not get many games but when it does, its razor-sharp awareness and eye for the game will be a handful.
Dirty Tactics: You don’t even want to know.

Spiderwebs
About: Another veteran that will be on the bench for the majority of the time, especially against top teams, Spiderwebs has been in and out of the first team for quite a while now, playing most games as a substitute. Its main attribute is its relentless pressure and despite being slow and relatively un-agile, has a good pass and is a good dribbler and finisher when the time is ripe.
Dirty Tactics: Sticks itself onto an opponents’ leg and annoys the hell out of them.

Heater
About: The final member of the midfield will be the Heater, playing as Kirkham Appliances’ lone forward for a few seasons now. It shall be interesting to see how it transitions to playing as an attacking midfielder, with a strong finish and good ball skills helping assert itself in that position behind the Mixer.
Dirty Tactics: Can heat itself up and make everything around it extremely hot and possibly even fiery.

Forwards:

Tumble Dryer
About: As Sylestone’s lone starting forward, a lot of weight is upon the Tumble Dryer to perform in nigh on every match, with its amazing ability to fling the ball towards goal at blinding speed making it the Sentients’ primary goal scorer. It’s also a fairly good passer and the shots can sometimes be inaccurate, but when they’re accurate they go in more often than not.
Dirty Tactics: Can pull a Fridge and shut the lid on the ball before running towards goal.

AC Vent:
About: The final member of Sylestone’s lineup, the AC Vent is a renowned goal scorer, having once topped the Toilet League with 18 goals in a season for the club now known as Kitchen Sink FC. It has pace, stamina and while it can improve on passing and dribbling, is one of the nation’s best finishers.
Dirty Tactics: Release a random whoosh of air to distract an opponent.
