Small Arms Program

The Asucki Security Council has authorized us to begin a new small arms program to replace our dated standard battle rifles and pistols. This comes after promising testing results from the new 6.5x60mm Asuckian Rifle cartridge. To promote fairness in business, the ADOD will offer the contract for these new small arms to foreign arms companies. We hope that this effort proves to be beneficial to everyone involved. Listed below are specifications for both rifles and pistols as well as important notes regarding the program.

Specifications for Battle Rifle
- Able to be modified (either by the ADOD or by your company) to be chambered in 6.5x60mm Asuckian Rifle
- Reliable, easy to transport in wooded terrain, and reasonably light
- No requirement for operation type, but some form of gas piston would be greatly preferred
- Select fire
- 20 round magazine capacity
- Rifles with DMR and Light Machinegun variants preferred.

Specifications for Pistol
- No cartridge requirement, widely available cartridges preferred
- Reliable and light
- No requirement or preference for operation type
- At least 16 round magazine capacity

Notes
The 6.5x60mm Asuckian Rifle was designed off of the popular 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser and as such has similar ballistic and projectile information. It fires smoothly and with less recoil than its counterparts but it is still capable of hitting very hard at somewhat short distances (within 250 meters) while still being effective at longer ranges with very limited bullet drop. Its 60mm case is on the long side but should be capable of fitting into most preexisting actions with limited modification. The projectile weight of the military version of this round is 150 gr and the twist rate is 1 in 200mm (or roughly 1 in 8 inches, either will be acceptable).

The ADOD is interested in purchasing Domestic Production Rights. If we believe that your weapon is promising, we will purchase a small quantity for testing purposes. Upon receiving good testing results, we will organize the purchasing of your weapon's production rights. We are willing to offer up to ten percent more than the standard price for these rights as compensation for the required change in chambering.

While I was aware that the 70mm case length was long, I didn't realize just how long it was. Lauzanne sent me a telegram asking me about this that has led me to change my mind (thank you). I'm going to retcon the case length to a much more reasonable (but still somewhat long) 60mm. Sorry for the inconvenience as I've seen a lot of effort put into these weapons. Also, as a side note, I'm going to wait to post anything regarding accepting or declining offers until 1-2 days after the last post to ensure that everyone who wants to participate can.

Schwerpunkt is the leading arms maker in Nachmere, with decades of experience in small arms and heavy arms production. We supply arms to many dozens of national armed forces and law enforcement agencies across the world. We would like to submit for both the rifle and pistol contracts.

While we do not currently offer a rifle chambered for 6.5X60, Schwerpunkt has been producing 6.5mm firearms for a long time. We have recently been developing a battle rifle which we intended to chamber in 6.5 Creedmoor, The XBR-6.5. We offer a variant on this, nominally designated XBR-6.5AS. We believe that being based on a squad automatic weapon will be of great benefit to this weapon, as the platform is already robust for sustained fire, and is a constant recoil design, without which we are fairly certain such a powerful cartridge would be near unmanageable in full auto. In addition should you choose the XBR-6.5AS, making a SAW/LMG version would be incredibly simple. Please read the short description of the prototype below.

Design

The XBR-6.5AS is a battle rifle development of Schwerpunkt’s Kanar LMG. The design was simplified and made lighter, by using a narrower profile barrel, simpler muzzle device, and removing the gas selector and barrel change mechanisms.

Mechanically the XBR-6.5 is similar to the ARI-72 (and hence to the AK) with a two lug rotating bolt and long stroke gas piston, but with many improved ergonomic features such as an AR style magazine well and release method, as well as ambidextrous controls.

Like the Kanar the XBR-6.5 features a constant recoil system to allow for controlled fire in full auto even with the 6.5X60mm round. By lengthening the receiver and carefully adjusting spring pressure and the gas system, the bolt carrier has enough travel distance to complete its reward movement without ever physically contacting the rear of the receiver. The result is a uniquely soft recoiling gun in fully automatic fire, with the more typical series of impulses replaced with one continuous push against the shoulder.

The XBR-6.5 has an AR like false buffer tube folding stock. The rifle offers a full length accessory rail on the top of the receiver and gas tube, as well as rails on the sides and bottom of the foregrip. These can be used to equip the same force multipliers as on the rifles the Kanar serves alongside.

XBR-6.5 is fed from AR style magazines, 20 or 30 round capacity. It can fit a standard ARI bayonet.

As for the pistol, we offer our tried and tested USP Gen 2 pistol in 9mm. This is a solid, simple and economical service pistol, and we believe it would serve you well, as it does many military and LE agencies around the world.

Dear Mister Cooper,
we here at Eabhar Blacksmiths Limited heard of your request for proposals for a new sidearm and a new battle rifle for the Armed Forces of Asucki. Despite being rather new to the world of international arms trading, we would like to offer you our products and hope, that they will find your acceptance.
For the battle rifle tender, we want to offer the Eabhar E-20 Battle Rifle. Without a magazine, the E-20 clocks in at 4.9 kilograms, is 1.1 meters in length with the stock extended and is operated by a gas-operated short-stroke piston with a rotating bolt. The ammunition is fed to the weapon by a detachable box magazine, be it one with 10, 20, 30, 50 or even one hundred rounds, making the E-20 into a light machine gun, if that is necessary. A rate of fire of 600 rounds per minute sees a a heavy volume of fire being thrown downrange. For the needs of a designated marksman, the E-20 can be equipped with a variety of sights via Picatinny Rails as well as with a bipod. Allow me to emphasize, that this is all on the same weapon, no variants, no different models, but all on the same platform, only with different attachments. This, admittedly, comes at the price of the E-20 being relatively expensive, 440,000 NSD per 100 rifles or five million NSD for the Domestic Production Rights, as well as this status of a jack of all trades meaning, that the E-20 is a master of none. However, it is an extremely reliable weapon, which, while chambered for the 8x57mm Gabha and 7.62x54mm Eabhar can be rechambered for the 6.5x60mm Asuckian Rifle relatively easily.
For the pistol tender, we would like to mention onto you the Eabhar E-17 Handgun. The E-17 is a large short-recoil weapon chambered to fire the 10.8x35mm Eabhar, also known as the Killer of Scaled Bears, with a standard length of 270 mm and a weight of 1.5 kilograms while loaded. While the E-17 has, due to its large ammunition, only magazine capacity of seven rounds in a detachable box magazine (extended magazines with up to ten rounds are available), it has an enourmous stopping and penetrating power, which earned it its nickname.
With these offers on the table, allow me to add, that we would be glad to welcome you to Fortham for a demonstration on our firing ranges or to send you a team or samples of our products. Room and board, or transport costs, whatever the case may be, would be our charge.

Adoption of New Weapons

The Asucki Department of Defense would like to formally express our gratitude to all companies for their participation. We greatly appreciate everyone's submissions to the program, especially those which made changes to or created new firearms for the 6.5x60 cartridge. While all entries were excellent, we have made our final decision regarding the program after extensive consideration.

The contracts go Schwerpunkt Arms' (Nachmere) XBR-6.5AS battle rifle and Zawisza-Láník's (Lauzanne ZL-2000/9 pistol. Please prepare for the importation of the selected firearms. Please contact the ADOD with information regarding preferred ordering location.

The Department of Defense plans on purchasing all prototype firearms as produced for this program to be either placed in our National History Museum or sold to military collectors. We will also purchase a few units of nonprototype weapons (such as the various pistol submissions) for the same purpose. Further, the various firearm retail companies in Asucki will likely contact the participatory companies to organize the purchasing and production both rifles (for those who are both willing and capable of producing their prototypes for commercial purposes) and pistols for sale to civilians.
