Blasphemy Law Index

Postby Al-Harreh Danistarab » Wed Sep 22, 2021 11:54 am

Please describe your nations laws (or lack thereof) on blasphemy. I’ll list them here under the correct heading.

Blasphemy is legal

Sky Reavers: blasphemy is classified as protected free speech.
Thermodolia: Blasphemy is classified as protected free speech.

Illustrious Brazil: the constitution gives Congress the legislative power to prohibit blasphemy but this legislative power has not been exercised since 1992, and so blasphemy is currently legal.

Umbratellus: religion is illegal.

Syndic Australia: Blasphemy was legalised in 1923.

Blasphemy is illegal but the law is unenforced
Phillipinae: only enforced if civil unrest is provoked.

Legality of blasphemy is ambiguous due to vaguely worded laws:
People’s Republic of Azadistan (Communist Azadistan), it’s illegal to “libel, slander or deliberately offend” followers of a recognised religion.
This includes Islam, Christianity and Judaism amongst others.

Legality of blasphemy within the nation depends on which particular jurisdiction within the country

Blasphemy is illegal and punishable by fines

Blasphemy is illegal and punishable by exile
The Sadat Sultanate (Feudal Azadistan)

Blasphemy is illegal and punished by corporal punishment and/or temporary imprisonment
Socratic Eutopia: temporary imprisonment available for free people and corporal punishment for slaves.

Crossoveria (The Imagination Animals):
Either corporal punishment or imprisonment for up to five years.
This applies to those who insult either Islam or Hefflism.

Al-Harreh Danistarab:
1-14 years imprisonment or exile.

Switzerland(Kantian Switzerland): People who insult any Abrahamic religion are imprisoned in the pillory for two to four days and publicly mocked.

Blasphemy is illegal and punishable by death
Eutopia(Socratic Eutopia): optional for Hellenic freemen, bondmen and bondwomen (but not Hellenic free women), mandatory for non-Hellenic people.
VlaRiSsiA: death by forced labour or burning
Blasphemy is illegal and punishable by permanent life imprisonment or enslavement
Eutopia(Socratic Eutopia): Hellenic Freemen can be enslaved for blasphemy.

Blasphemy has been prohibited since the establishment of Eutopia.
According to a law passed yesterday the punishment is:
For a Hellenic free, adult female, imprisonment for at least ten and up to thirty years.

For a Hellenic free, adult male, imprisonment for up to 50 years, slavery or death.

For a Hellenic adult male slave: 80 to 150 lashes or death.

For a Hellenic adult female slave: 70 to 140 lashes or death.

For a Barbarian: a mandatory sentence of death by hanging

Freedom of Speech Article in our constitution says about this matter: "Ya' can say whatever the hell ya' want, cuz you are free! But we won't guarantee, that someone ain't gonna punch ya' for insults. So be polite, dudes. Pretty please."

Plus, there are several annual competitions of blasphemous texts and images. The winner gets the prize. Either way, this ain't illegal.

Tangatarehua most likely falls under the 'Legality of blasphemy is ambiguous due to vaguely worded laws' heading.

The official state religion is 'Tikanga Wairua', a polytheistic religion unique to the country which is entrenched in laws and the justice system. (For example the Tohunga, head of the church is also the highest ranking judicial officer in the country).

It is illegal to question the divine ancestry of the Empress (Kuia o Whenua) under lese majeste laws, although this is rarely if ever enforced. It is also illegal to desecrate Marae, temples or shrines - however these laws are also extended to minority religions, so similar laws protect mosques and churches as well despite them having no official status (vandalising any building is considered, legally speaking, a dick move.)

There is a pereceived conflict between the entrenched position of Tikanga Wairua and the clause in the constitution guaranteeing the right to freedom of speech and thus far this has never been tested.

Blasphemy against Islam (including insulting Allah SWT, the Prophets Peace be Upon Them or their companions RA) in the Sadat Sultanate is illegal and is classified as “spreading corruption on earth”.
The punishment is exile.

Anyone who makes “indecent allegations” against Mary (Peace be Upon Her) or Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) is scourged with 80 lashes in addition to exile (though this is classified under slander or libel rather than blasphemy).

It is a crime to “libel, slander or deliberately offend” followers of a “recognised religion” who yh includes (amongst others) Islam, Christianity, Judaism Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism.

In practise insulting any recognised religion would likely fall foul of this law even if the people following it weren’t deliberately insulted.

The punishment for breaking this is 2-10 years of rehabilitation and labour as well as suspension or expulsion from the Communist Party and dishonourable discharge from the military if applicable.

Blasphemy is no more a criminal offense in Canvalland since 1961, but the state-approved religion groups are allowed to sue the blasphemer ONLY IF the person defames a particular living person.

Before 1961, Blasphemy against Canvish Church of Valhallism (Canvish Church of Woden) is prohibited and would result in small fine (10 to 50 Canvish Golcas) and community services in Church. This law was abolished on June 28th, 1961 as the Constitutional Court decides in The Canvish Church of Woden v. Edwin Gunnarson and TVC Comedians that blasphemy should be considered as a freedom of speech Unless defames a particular living person (which will be considered as defamation).

Blasphemy is not covered by state law, but within society any attack on the Atkanite faith is usually met with sharp criticism by officials within the Kirk. The Kirk plays a large part in every day life, having a part in early schooling and supporting laws in line with Atkanism. As such, an attack on the Kirk is regarded as an attack on Frankian society, and is usually met with being kicked out of one's household or one's guild. This is if said blasphemies are voiced publicly, while internal dissent is allowed and even veiled satire is allowed if it is well-written.

Evangelical atheists might be sent to the mines for creating social discord, along with zealots or heretics who wish to undermine the Atkanite faith. Death is not enforced, unless they dabble in Sithery which is an abomination in the eyes of Atkane. No, said individuals are required to work until they are reformed for the benefit of the state after attempting to undermine the state. If they refrain from shouting their private beliefs or attacking Sanctuaries they are paroled back into society, earlier if they prove to be good workers that have met their quotas.

Blasphemy against the state religion(which is also the state ideology, so dissent is considered blasphemy) is punishable by anywhere from life in the brutal labor camps(where prisoners are put through extermination labor) to public execution usually by burning.

Blasphemy is illegal and punished by corporal punishment and/or temporary imprisonment
Legally defined as Offending The Religious Feelings in Crown Law, the imprisonment term ranges from 4 to 28 months (4-6 months representing arresto mayor in its maximum period and 6-28 months representing prisión correccional in its minimum period). The Kingdom of New Luzon accept any and all religious groups, and every person in the Kingdom is expected to abide by any one religious faith per the Pillars of the Philippine Reaction; antitheists are held to be on the same level as Communists (and/or, to a lesser extent, Fascists) so often that societies promoting anti-religious thought are often considered Parties of Interest under the Anti-Subversion Law, and the more militant atheist groups find themselves facing 12-20 years on the first conviction (Reclusión temporal), 20-40 years on the second (Reclusión perpetua), and Reclusión perpetua to death on subsequent convictions.

Since 1923, there exist no laws prohibiting blasphemy or blasphemous libel in any Australic jurisdiction. As such, neither are considered any form of crime, though egregious cases may provide grounds for a regular libel civil suit, or constitute acts of religious discrimination and thus be prosecutable.

Prior to 1923, laws prohibiting these two acts were present as received common law offences in most jurisdictions, but rarely levied or prosecuted. As Australia has never had a national religion nor national church, the wording of these inherited laws (which specify that blasphemy or blasphemous libel can only be prosecuted if targeted towards the Church of England) made them largely impractical and only a handful of people were ever charged with either crime.

Of these people, all had their records expunged in 1923 following the nullification of these and many other redundant common laws, with minor restitutions paid in cases where fines were historically levied.

blasphemy is illegal in most states(as state constitionists can override the national constitional on the matter of blashphemy) but most states it is illegal but not enforced but on the other end is the states where it is illegal and can be punished by minor fines. all of this while the constition says the punishment should be death. as when it was enforced fully on a national level nearly 5 million people died due to blashemy laws.u
